Fazl-ur-Rehman urges international community to play their part in ending Rohingya crisis
LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman requested international organisations such as the United Nations and the Security Council to step in and stop violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, in a statement issued on Thursday.
International organisations have not played their part in stopping the persecution of minority communities in Myanmar, he remarked, adding only stone-hearted people can remain quiet after seeing such violence against a minority community.
He also announced that JUI-F will hold a protest to show solidarity with the Rohingya community. The government should take a stance and provide support to the marginalised community, he added.
According to the United Nations says 164,000 refugees from Myanmar, comprising mostly members of Rohingya community, have so far fled to neighbouring Bangladesh.
Speaking about the US President Donald Trump?s statements in which he alleged that Pakistan is supporting ?agents of chaos?, Fazl-ur-Rehman remarked that the statements have unveiled the US agenda. After the US threats, it is high time we correct our foreign policy, he added.
