Luxury Automobile Redefined: This $3.4 Million Car Has Diamond-Studded Headlamps

There are race cars like the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo, fantasy cars like the Batmobile, luxury daily drives like the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead and then there are cars like the Lykan Hypersport--a new breed of cars altogether. A car that is modelled after a werewolf is a level up from all cars that you've seen or experienced in your lifetime. Sure it isn't a space craft, but it's got features that you could find on one, making it a drool-worthy piece of mean machinery.

We'll come to the specs in a bit, but let's talk about one of the most luxurious things about the Lykan first- its LED headlamps. Did you know that each of its eyes is encrusted with 220 diamonds? Your girlfriend has been dreaming about you giving her a Tiffany trinket for a while now, and here we have a car that comes encrusted with them (by the way, the buyer can opt to choose the stones to outline the headlamps).

It's not just the headlamps that are out of the world, though. Another extremely bewitching feature of the Lykan is its 9 inch "holographic mid-air display system with interactive motion". Mind you, this state of the art system is exclusive to the Lykan and is a first of its kind. The system allows the driver and riders to integrate with the multimedia and functional systems and control them.

The system can understand and respond to gestures, help customise the dashboard and even store information on an integrated hard drive, spy style! Spaceship, anybody?

Now over to the juicy meat.

The Lykan is a pure Middle-Eastern road beast conceptualised and brought to life by W Motors (that explains the Diamonds, because what is luxury if it isn't flaunted through in-your-face affluence). Only 7 units of the car have been produced to date, making it a rare jewel in the world of automobiles.

We mentioned that its design was inspired by the first werewolf in history, which explains its sharp wind-cutting angular body and ribbed rear. The entire body is made of carbon composite making it light as a feather, ergo, super duper fast.

Arab's first supercar, the Lykan packs a 3.7 litre F6 twin-turbo engine that is capable of producing a pull of 780 ponies. The vehicle can go from 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds and promises of a top speed of 385kmph.

The car made its debut in 'Furious 7' two years ago. So why exactly are we talking about it right now?

Because not only does this car fly, old as it might be, it still stands strong among the most expensive and rare cars in the world till date. It is priced at $3.4 million or a whopping Rs 22 crore, and you'd have to be one in seven globally, to be able to get your hands on it.

It is also still the only car to have a holographic display and infotainment system, to this day. Clearly it's a supercar way ahead of its time, which is why we thought it prudent to do a quick revisit.

Diamond-studded headlamps…it'll be a while before we get over that.
