Much before Diet Prada — the fashion industry's most savage critic rose to fame — we at MensXP.com reported Shahid Kapoor wearing a blatant copy of a Kris Van Assche suit. Shahid's suit was custom-made by designer Anuj Madan to look exactly like Mr. Assche's. So much so, that the Artistic Director of Dior Homme called the entire incident out through a carefully curated Instagram story. Ouch! This idea of ripping off H-to-T designer outfits is extremely popular among Kitty Aunties, lesser-known designers, wannabe stylists and so-called costume designers and obviously clothing giant, Zara.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room. Shahid Kapoor wore this aesthetically cut bespoke Khanijo jumpsuit at the HT Style Awards in March 2017. The earthy-hued piece — as noted by one writer — was a true innovation especially when it comes to pushing the envelope of fashion in India. Menswear is often very traditional and dare we say … limiting, but Shahid's Khanijo piece showcased how linen — a very traditional menswear fabric — can lend itself to fashion-forward cuts.

Fast forward to Karan Wahi who can easily be confused for a slightly more beefed-up, bro-y Shahid Kapoor with a bedroom voice. He also hosts a show on national television, where for his latest appearance he wore a piece strikingly similar to Shahid's. The piece that… at first, glance looks like was designed by Mr. Khanijo was in fact... not. It designed by a Mumbai-based designer called, Aombray who pride at creating custom-made dream outfits that give us a tinkle!  It's an unfortunate move for someone like Mr. Wahi who has a crazy following on social media and among pec-loving girls. But we are guessing the stylists at fault here since they are the ones coordinating and sourcing looks for celebrities to wear the events. Or are their assistants at fault?

Disclaimer: Most stylists borrow outfits for their celebrity clients and return them immediately after the event is over, often accounting for dry-cleaning bills and sweat stains whatsoever.

Moral of the story? Don't copy. Don't copy from a young designer. Don't make a cheap copy. Simply. Just. Don't. Copy. And if you do, we'll come for you… gently and swiftly!
