The war-torn country of Syria is in shambles. With houses destroyed, lives taken away, lost family members, the situation is heart-breaking. Last year, the world was left in tears after pictures of war victims and refugees fleeing the country surfaced on the internet. The lifeless body of 4-year-old Alan Kurdi is still difficult to erase from the mind. Or of Omran who sat in shock right after his house was bombed in an airstrike in Aleppo.

In all this darkness, appeared one tiny ray of hope and human strength in the form of images of Muslims breaking their fast together amidst the rubble. These pictures that are with heart-breaking and inspiring, are being shared online with much fervour and love.

Sitting amidst the rubble of the ruined town Douma, residents are seen enjoying their iftar meal.

The splash of colours against the grey ruins is a poignant reminder of human resilience in the face of the grimmest situations.

Organised by Adelah foundation, the iftar celebrations were concluded peacefully in the otherwise war-torn zone. It's a result of a recent agreement establishing 4 safe zones in the country. The charity foundation has been organising such events for Syrian residents fasting during Ramadan.

These pictures show a beautiful face of humanity standing up strong against the atrocity. Despite all the suffering and violence, the human will doesn't lose hope and faith in a higher power and this is all that's needed to dream of a better world order.
