ADMIN posted a blog entry in Geo News BlogActor Kevin Spacey speaks to a reporter as he arrives during the premiere of 'Recount' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, US, May 13, 2008. REUTERS/Joshua Lott/Files NEW YORK: A Massachusetts mother on Wednesday accused Kevin Spacey of sexually assaulting her 18-year-old son on the holiday island of Nantucket last year and said police had opened a criminal investigation. Former television news anchor Heather Unruh told a news conference in Boston that the double Oscar winner assaulted the teen after plying him with alcohol late at night in a Nantucket bar in July 2016. Police told AFP that they could not confirm or deny any such report was filed. "Reports of sexual assaults are confidential under Massachusetts General Law," a spokesperson for the police department said. Unruh described her son at the time as a "star-struck, straight" 18-year-old. "Kevin Spacey bought him drink after drink after drink, and when my son was drunk, Spacey made his move and sexually assaulted him," she told a news conference in Boston. "Spacey stuck his hand inside my son's pants and grabbed [him]," Unruh said. Her intoxicated son ? whom she did not name ? panicked and froze. When the House of Cards star left briefly to use the bathroom, he allegedly fled to his grandmother's house, where he reportedly told his sister what had happened. "Last week, my son filed a police report and handed over evidence, and now a criminal investigation has begun," Unruh told reporters. The scores of women who have accused Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, and actor Anthony Rapp levelling the first public accusations against Spacey had motivated them to speak publicly now, Unruh said. "I want to see Kevin Spacey go to jail," she said. "Not just for my son but for the many others," she added. Unruh said her son did not report the incident at the time "largely because of embarrassment and fear". The family lawyer also told reporters Wednesday that his client had spoken to Nantucket police, who were investigating. Unruh previously alleged via Twitter on October 13 that Spacey had "assaulted a loved one," but had not previously identified that person as her son. Netflix late week dropped Spacey, its star actor on hit series House of Cards whose career is in a freefall over the spiralling assault accusations. According to British media, London police are also investigating him for an alleged assault in 2008. Spacey has been publicly accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old boy in New York and of making advances on actor Anthony Rapp when he was 14 years old, 31 years ago.

REUTERS/Kevork Djansezian/Files ROME: Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore on Saturday denied assaulting a showgirl as the Academy Award-winning filmmaker became the latest in the entertainment world to be accused of sexual harassment. Tornatore ? best known for his 1988 film Cinema Paradiso that took home the Oscar for best foreign language film ? was accused by former TV starlet Miriana Trevisan of fondling and kissing her in his office 20 years ago. "I went to Giuseppe Tornatore's office. My agent organised the meeting. It wasn't an audition, but a first meeting in view of a film in production," the 44-year old said in an interview with Vanity Fair. When she got up to leave, "he followed me to the door, pushed me up against the wall and started kissing my neck and ears", assaulting her with "his hands", she said. "I managed to get away from him and run out the door," she said, adding that Tornatore "probably doesn't even remember it". The Sicilian director, 61, told La Repubblica daily he did remember the meeting, insisting, "I never laid a finger on her". "I remember a cordial meeting, and reject the insinuations made," he said, adding that he was considering legal action. The accusation is the latest in a month-long torrent of allegations engulfing male power players in Hollywood and from the worlds of politics, finance, and journalism. Accounts of abuse by Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein that were published last month in The New York Times and The New Yorker encouraged others to speak out. Weinstein has denied the allegations.

Photo: Twitter DI KHAN: Police obtained on Wednesday custody of eight suspects who allegedly assaulted a girl and paraded her naked a few days ago as an act of 'punishment' in Dera Ismail Khan. The police, who have yet to nab the primary suspect, Sajawal, had sought the physical remand of the suspects for 10 days but Judicial Magistrate Adam Khan only approved their custody for three days. The judge also ordered the police to have the suspects' medical tests conducted. SP Ashfaq Khan said that the police have also recorded the statement of the victim in detail. He added that the statement was recorded in the presence of local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Amin Gandapur. According to the police, the victim?s brother, Sajjad, was reportedly involved in an extra-marital affair with a girl in the Girah Mut locality. A panchayat (council of elders) settled the matter by fining the male's Rs0.25 million but on October 27, the girl was assaulted and paraded on the road as 'punishment'. waqas dar posted a blog entry in Geo News BlogVIRGINIA: A 17-year-old American Muslim girl was beaten and abducted after leaving a mosque in Virginia on Sunday by a man who police later arrested on suspicion of murder after her body was found dumped in a pond, authorities said. The attack spurred an outpouring of grief and horror in a Muslim community that has been gathering to pray at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society mosque about 30 miles outside Washington in observance of the last 10 days of Ramadan. The attack happened early on Sunday after the victim and several friends walking outside the mosque got into a dispute with a motorist in the community of Sterling, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a statement. At one point, the motorist got out of his car and assaulted the girl, police said. The teen was reported missing by her friends who scattered during the attack and could not find her afterwards, touching off an hours-long search by authorities in Fairfax and Loudoun counties. At around 3pm, the remains of a female believed to be the teen victim were found in a pond in Sterling, police said. During the search for the missing teen, authorities stopped a motorist "driving suspiciously in the area" and arrested the driver, later identified as identified as Darwin Martinez Torres, 22. Police obtained a murder warrant that charges Torres for her death, the Fairfax County Police Department said. A police spokeswoman told reporters the attack followed some sort of dispute between the man and the girls, and authorities had not ruled out hate as a motivation for the attack. The number of anti-Muslim bias incidents in the United States jumped 57 percent in 2016 to 2,213, up from 1,409 in 2015, the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group said in a report last month. While the group had been seeing a rise in anti-Muslim incidents prior to Donald Trump's stunning rise in last year's presidential primaries and November election victory, it said the acceleration in bias incidents was due in part to Trump's focus on militant groups and anti-immigrant rhetoric. In an incident in London on Monday, a van ploughed into worshippers leaving a mosque, killing at least one person and injuring several in what Britain's largest Muslim organisation said was a deliberate act of Islamophobia. Isra Chaker, a person who said in a Facebook post that she was close to a family friend of the victim in the Virginia incident, said the driver came out with a baseball bat and began swinging it at the girls, Chaker said. "She then went missing (presumably kidnapped/moved by the suspect) and was found dead this afternoon," Chaker said. An online fundraiser for the girl's family had raised $61,606 by Sunday evening. Police said a medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death, though detectives believe the body found in the pond was the missing girl.
