  1. ISLAMABAD: Two air commodores of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were promoted to the rank of air vice marshal on Tuesday by the government, said a statement released by the PAF. Hamid Rashid Randhawa and Nasser ul Haq Wyne were promoted as air vice marshals Air Vice Marshal Hamid Rashid Randhawa was commissioned as a pilot in the PAF in June 1988. A qualified flying instructor, he has commanded a squadron, a wing and an air base. In his staff appointments, he has served as assistant chief of the air staff (safety) and personal staff officer to the chief of the air staff at Air Headquarters. He is a graduate of the Combat Commanders? School and the National Defence University. He holds a Master?s degree in War Studies. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military). Air Vice Marshal Nasser ul Haq Wyne was also commissioned as a pilot in the PAF in June 1988. He is a qualified flying instructor and has commanded the Flying Instructors? School, a squadron, a wing, and an air base. As part of his staff assignments, he has served as the secretary to the chief of the air staff at Air Headquarters. He has also served as air attaché to China. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders? School, Air War College and National Defence University. He holds a Master?s degree in Strategic Studies and War Studies and Defence Management. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military).
  2. RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Air Force's (PAF) war hero Air Marshal (retd) Inamul Haq Khan passed away here in Rawalpindi on Thursday after prolonged ailment, a spokesman for the PAF said. Haq was a hero of 1965 and 1971 wars with India, the spokesman said, adding that he was ailing for quite some time. He aged 90. PAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman expressed immense grief over the demise of Pakistan's war hero. Born in Patiala, India, in May 1927, Haq got commission in 5th GDP course of the Royal Pakistan Air Force in 1947, the spokesman said in a statement. He was inducted in the Royal Pakistan Air Force as a fighter pilot in December 1949. Haq was conferred with Hilal-e-Jurrat in recognition of his services in the 1971 war. He was also bestowed with Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military). His funeral prayers will be held at PAF Base Noor Khan on August 11 with complete military honour.

The air chief briefed the prime minister regarding operational preparedness of Pakistan Air Force (PAF). PM Abbasi praised the professional attitude and services of PAF in protecting the borders of the motherland. Other professional matters were also brought under discussion at the meeting.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman was awarded the Legion of Merit in Istanbul on Tuesday in recognition of his services for promotion of defence ties between the two air forces. The Air Chief highlighted the Pakistan Air Force's key role in ongoing counter terrorism operations in Pakistan. He also reiterated enhancing cooperation with Turkey in the fields of security, training and information technology. General Abidin Unal, Commander Turkish Air Force, lauded the role played by PAF in the success of operation Zarb-e-Azb. ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan on Monday announced promotions in the Pakistan Air Force advancing two Air Vice Marshals to the rank of Air Marshal and four Air Commodores to the rank of Air VIce Marshal. Air Vice Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi and Air Vice Marshal Ahmer Shehzad were promoted to the rank of Air Marshal and Air Commodore Abrar Ahmed, Air Commodore Irfan Zaka, Air Commodore Irfan Ahmad and Air Commodore Asad Ikram to the rank of Air Vice Marshal. Air Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in November, 1984. During his illustrious career, he has commanded a Fighter Squadron, an Operational Air Base and a Regional Air Command. In his staff appointments he has served as Deputy Inspector General IG Branch, Senior Air Staff Officer Air Defence Command, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Security) and Director General Air Intelligence. He has also served as Air Attaché to India. Presently, he is performing his duties as Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Training) at Air Headquarters. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders? School, Air War College and National Defence University, Islamabad. He holds Master?s degrees in Strategic Studies and Defence & Strategic Studies. For rendering meritorious services to Pakistan Air Force, he has been awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military). Air Marshal Ahmer Shehzad was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in November 1984. During his illustrious career, he has commanded Combat Commanders? School (F-7) Squadron and an Operational Air Base. In his staff appointments, he has served as Director Ops Project, Chief Project Director Falcon and Director General (Logistics) at Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala. Presently he is serving as Director General (Projects) at Air Headquarters Islamabad. He has also served as Air Attaché to USA. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders? School, National Defence University and Command & Staff College UK. He holds a Master?s degree in War Studies and a Master?s degree in Defence Studies from UK. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Legion of Merit (USA). Air Vice Marshal Abrar Ahmed was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in January, 1988. He is a qualified Flying Instructor. During his illustrious career, he has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Flying Wing and an Operational Air Base. In his staff appointments, he has served as Director Flight Safety and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel- Officers) at Air Headquarters. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders? School, Air War College, National Defence University and Air Command & Staff College (USA). He holds Master?s degrees in Strategic Studies and National Security Strategy (USA). He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military). Air Vice Marshal Irfan Zaka was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in January, 1988. He is a qualified Flying Instructor. During his illustrious career, he has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Flying Training Wing and an Operational Air Base. In his staff appointments, he has served as Director GD Group and Director Infra at Air Headquarters. He has also served as Air Attaché to India. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders? School, Air War College (Turkey) and National Defence University. He holds Master?s degree in War Studies and Defence Management. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military). Air Vice Marshal Irfan Ahmad was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in June, 1988. During his illustrious career, he has served as Chief Engineer JF-17 Co-Project and Deputy Managing Director Avionics Production Factory at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra. He has also served as Commandant College of Aeronautical Engineering at PAF Academy Asghar Khan. He holds Bachelor?s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master?s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from USA. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).
  6. ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today (Monday). The air chief briefed the prime minister regarding operational preparedness of Pakistan Air Force (PAF), particularly the training aspect. The PM praised the professional attitude of PAF and stated that the forces are able enough to promptly respond to any kind of threat faced by the motherland. Matters pertaining to PAF development strategy and future force goals were also discussed. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Adviser to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz were also present during the meeting.
