According to the girl?s mother, the robbers wanted to kill the elder sister too but fortunately she got saved. Police said the issue is under investigation and progress has been made. Police officials further said that the facts about the incident will also be discovered soon.
  2. As a member of India's reputed 'Chappal Brigade', it gives me immense displeasure in saying: Bollywood enjoys a pair of chappals. Or what posh (but low salaried) men would call—flip flops. But well, there's something about a pair of chappals on a man, you see; they bring you repentance, a few hundred stares down there (not the sexual ones) and a kilometer of distance from the hot sheep. Sounds rewarding, doesn't it? But well, unfortunately, 5 prolific, widely-followed men in the movie biz are absolutely averse to our banter here. In casual wear or formal wear, they've creepily introduced flip-flops as normalcy in our eyes and walked themselves into our Hall of Shame. Let's take you through a stream of these unfortunate events. 1. Consider Akshay Kumar's formal wear a little too doubt-less here, but the overall dress code is a complete no-no. If there's any place that allows a flip flop allowance, in most probability, is the actor's vanity van's lush (but cramped) rest room. Twinkle, let's get a tweet here? Source: Viral Bhayani 2. But that was the start. Randeep Hooda's rendition of an overall messed-up, straight out of a romp look is clearly a breaking point for our Chappal debacle. But nothing, we repeat, nothing can make us miss the sweat patch as well. Great going, Hooda, gotta help us into your hood too. Source: Viral Bhayani 3. Exemplary #3, Bipasha Basu's current (and the world's ex)- Karan Singh Grover. But gossip column apart, we're thanking our stars for the sight of denim here, and ripped white jeans that are incessantly relaxed. So to say, that if there's anything we'd like to applaud him for here, it's the fact that he's living up to his reputation as a scraggly-dressed day dresser. Source: Viral Bhayani 4. Talking of KSG, here comes John Abraham. Who left Bipasha Basu for reasons we're absolutely glad. But what a shame! Even a break-up didn't make him keep his chappals away. Or did he just take his earthy palette a little too far here? Love his lounge-like style otherwise, but chappals—NOPE. Source: Viral Bhayani 5. Aditya Roy Kapoor may have bedded a lot of Bandra women (so to say), but if there's anything he's missed besides taking off his condom in time (allegedly), it's the ability of giving his chappals a miss. Lousy pants, loose shirt, let's save this pedicured-judgement for another time, you guiz. Source: Viral Bhayani
  3. NAIROBI: Kenyan police fired teargas to disperse a crowd that was protesting on Sunday against the overnight murder of four people in a slum in the capital Nairobi. Parts of the city have been gripped by tension since Friday when at least five people were killed in violence involving the police and opposition supporters who were accompanying their leader Raila Odinga after a trip abroad. Japheth Koome, the police commander in the city, said investigations had started after four bodies were found in the Mathare Area Four slum on Sunday morning. ?We went there and found those bodies with injuries,? he told a news conference, describing the murders as a criminal act rather than ethnic-driven violence. The violence took place a day before the Supreme Court rules on two cases seeking to nullify the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in a repeat election held last month. Odinga, who successfully petitioned against Kenyatta?s initial victory in the August 8 vote and subsequently boycotted the repeat poll, visited the scene of the murders on Sunday and accused the government of being behind the killings. ?Those who are doing these acts are the ones who already lost and want to hold onto power by force but we will remove them using the power of the people,? he told a crowd of his supporters. Police fired teargas and used water cannons to disperse protesters for the better part of the morning until calm was restored in the area in the afternoon. The broadcast industry regulator, Communications Authority of Kenya, said it had banned live broadcasts of political rallies, after all the main TV stations showed hours of live footage of the chaos that greeted Odinga?s return. A source at the authority told Reuters on Sunday the ban was put in place to help manage the tension in the country.
  4. Jesus Martin was a gang leader for "Huachicoleros", who live from stealing fuel mostly from pipelines in Puebla state. Image Courtesy: BBC via EPA MEXICO CITY: A Mexican crime boss was murdered on the operating table as he underwent plastic surgery to change his face and erase his fingerprints, officials in the central city of Puebla said. Gunmen burst into the clinic where Jesus "El Kalimba" Martin was undergoing the procedure on Monday afternoon and executed him along with three other people, Puebla state prosecutors said. Martin was wanted by the authorities for allegedly leading a fuel theft ring that illegally taps pipelines to steal gasoline and diesel ? a risky but lucrative business that has become Mexico's second-biggest organized crime problem after drug trafficking. "He was trying to change his identity with a series of plastic surgery procedures to alter his face and remove his fingerprints so he couldn't be identified," prosecutors said in a statement. "The medical personnel involved are also being investigated." Monday was a bloodbath in Puebla, where a total of 12 people were killed in what investigators say was a settling of scores between rival members of Martin's gang. Five were murdered in the village of Tlaltenango on a farm where authorities found tubes, valves, and pumps for illegal pipeline taps, as well as three stolen vehicles. Three other victims appear to have been passersby caught in the crossfire, investigators said. Prosecutors said the hits appeared to have been ordered by another crime boss known as "El Irving" who had the same rank as Martin within the gang. Puebla is the epicentre of the booming fuel theft racket, which state oil company Pemex estimates has cost it $2.4 billion since 2010.
  5. The EU said Tuesday it was "horrified" after a Maltese journalist who investigated corruption in premier Joseph Muscat´s inner circle was killed by a car bomb, calling for justice to be done in the case. Photo: AFP BRUSSELS: The EU said Tuesday it was "horrified" after a Maltese journalist who investigated corruption in premier Joseph Muscat's inner circle was killed by a car bomb, calling for justice to be done in the case. "We are horrified by the fact that a well known and respected Maltese journalist, Ms Daphne Caruana Galizia, lost her life yesterday in what was seemingly a targeted attack," European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas told reporters. "This is a horrible event, a major thing that needs to be investigated, and clarified, and justice needs to be brought." European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker and his team "condemn this attack in the strongest terms possible," Schinas said. "The right of a journalist to investigate, ask uncomfortable questions and report effectively is at the heart of our values and needs to be guaranteed at all times," he added. "We trust now that justice will be brought even if this will not be enough to right this wrong." Schinas however declined to comment on whether the EU could open a rule of law case against the 28-nation EU´s smallest member state, saying the investigation there was still ongoing. Muscat has condemned the killing of Galizia, a key figure in digesting the Panama Papers tax data leak, as "barbaric" and said he had ordered security services to devote maximum resources to bringing those responsible to justice. But her son, Matthew Caruana Galizia, accused Muscat of being "complicit" in her grisly killing and described finding his mother´s body in pieces after the car bombing.
  6. VALLETTA: The son of Malta?s best-known investigative journalist said on Tuesday his mother was killed by a car bomb because of her work exposing political corruption. Daphne Caruana Galizia, who wrote about graft across Malta?s political divides on her blog, was murdered on Monday soon after she left her home in the north of the island. ?My mother was assassinated because she stood between the rule of law and those who sought to violate it, like many strong journalists,? Matthew Caruana Galizia said on Facebook. ?She was also targeted because she was the only person doing so,? he added. He described rushing to the scene after hearing the news, only to find the burning car and her remains. The explosion, which blasted the car off the road into a field near the village of Bidnija, stunned the small Mediterranean island. Authorities said it was the first murder of a journalist there. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and opposition leader Adrian Delia - who had both been criticized on her blog - both condemned the killing. Around 3,000 people held a silent, candle-lit vigil on Monday night in Sliema, just outside the capital Valletta. ?Today, this is undoubtedly a dark and sad, sad, sad, sad day for Malta,? said family friend Luke Frendo. ?I think Daphne was not only a journalist and an absolutely fearless human being but a fourth pillar of our democracy,? Frendo told Reuters Television. Maltese authorities were awaiting the arrival of Dutch forensic experts and American FBI agents on Tuesday to help the investigations. A tent was erected over her burnt-out car and sheets placed over her remains. ?Everyone knows Caruana Galizia was a harsh critic of mine, both politically and personally, but nobody can justify this barbaric act in any way,? said Prime Minister Muscat, who had been suing her over some of her allegations. Opposition leader Adrian Delia called her killing an attack on democracy and freedom of expression and demanded an independent inquiry. ?We will not accept an investigation by the Commissioner of Police, the Army commander or the duty magistrate, all of whom were criticized by Caruana Galizia,? he said on Monday. Half an hour before the explosion tore into her car, Galizia wrote on her blog: ?There are crooks everywhere you look now. The situation is desperate.?
  7. KARACHI: A woman ? whose body was found hanging by a noose in the metropolis' Liaquatabad a few days ago ? was murdered, Geo News said Thursday morning, refuting earlier media reports that she had died by suicide. Sana, 27, was an officer of Sindh Police's Special Security Unit (SSU) and had married a man of her own free will some months back. Her body was found on October 8 with a rope around her neck in the city's Liaquatabad No. 10 area, authorities said. Law enforcement agencies on Thursday explained that Sana was killed by way of suffocation. They said the deceased's husband Jahanzeb and father-in-law have been arrested, while a case has been registered as well. According to the father-in-law ? one of the two arrestees, the couple often used to have arguments, which started soon after their wedding. He went on to say that the family were sleeping when Sana allegedly took her own life. An investigation in this regard is consequently underway, police stated.
  8. KARACHI: A 15-year-old girl, who was also a witness to her mother's murder, was allegedly killed in Karachi, Geo News learnt Tuesday, with her body dumped in the water tank of her house. Raheema lived with two of her sisters in Maripur area of Karachi's Keamari Town. Her sisters, when reached home on Monday evening, found their house locked up. They entered the house after breaking the lock, but didn't find Raheema inside. Searching for their sister, when they looked into the water tank they found Raheema's body inside. Police said the deceased's hands had been tied and face covered with cloth. The body bore no torture marks. They said the cause of death could only be ascertained after the post-mortem report. Officials said Raheema's mother was murdered in the city's Saeedabad area last year, and she was a witness to it. The case pertaining to her mother's murder is sub-judice, while the four accused in it were recently released on bail, they said. Raheema had also testified in the case. The law enforcers suspect that Raheema's murder may have been connected to her mother's slaying, however, added that final investigations into the case would help ascertain the facts.

  11. MAPUTO: A 17-year-old albino boy was killed and his brain removed for what is believed to be a use in witchcraft in Mozambique, local news reports said. Albinos in Mozambique are often hunted for their body parts, which are used as charms and magical potions in the belief that they bring wealth and good luck. "The criminals took the bones out of the arms and legs, the hair, and broke the head to remove the brain," a local official told Mozambican news agency AIM. The body was found after the boy was killed on Wednesday in the Benga area of Tete province, AIM said. Lurdes Ferreira ? a police spokesman in the Tete province ? said police are investigating the teenager's kidnap and murder. "We have launched a search and arrest operation for those responsible for the macabre crime," he said. The murder comes four months after a failed attempt by two parents to sell their albino child in Moatize. Tete ? which borders Malawi ? is believed to have a large market for albino organ trafficking. There have been more than 100 attacks against albinos in Mozambique since 2014, according to the United Nations, with hunters persecuting them for everything from their toes to their faeces.
  12. Swiss couple, dead bodies, Kenyan policemen, Mombasa, Kenya, Aug 20, 2017, REUTERS, Joseph Okanga MOMBASA: The bodies of an elderly Swiss couple were found dumped by a country road in Kenya's coastal city of Mombasa with severe injuries on Sunday, police said, and the caretaker of a property where they had been due to stay was being sought for questioning. Regional police chief Larry Kiyeng identified them by name and said they had flown into Kenya on Saturday and had planned to stay at a private residence in Nyali, an upmarket estate in Mombasa. "They were expected to arrive by midnight but something happened between the airport and the home. We have found some evidence from a saloon car which was parked at the residence," Kiyeng, told Reuters, without giving details. Police were looking for the residence's caretaker who had gone to pick the couple from the airport and who has since disappeared, he said. The couple, who appeared to be between 60 and 70 years old, was found wrapped in a blanket near a local nightclub on the outskirts of Mombasa, area police chief Christopher Rotich said. "They have severe injuries. One has deep cuts on the head and it seems they were killed using sharp and blunt objects," Rotich told Reuters by telephone. In 2014, Russian and German tourists were robbed and murdered in Mombasa in two separate incidents. Police later shot dead two suspects they said had been behind the murders.
  13. WASHINGTON: The memorial of 17-year-old Muslim teen Nabra Hassanen, who was abducted and murdered after leaving a mosque in Virginia, was vandalised on Wednesday morning in Washington DC, reported Fox 5. According to DC Fire department, the memorial on Dupont Memorial Fountain on Connecticut Avenue was set on fire. The fire was later extinguished by fire fighters. Jonathon Soloman of South Carolina was arrested in connection with the fire, said DC police. The United States Park Police said it did not appear that Soloman was intentionally setting fire to items from Nabra's memorial as he was setting several items from the park on fire. Soloman was charged with vandalism. Nabra was attacked earlier in June after she and several of her friends walking outside a mosque got into a dispute with a motorist in the community of Sterling. The teen was reported missing by her friends who scattered during the attack and could not find her afterwards. Her body was later found dumped in a pond. During the search for the missing teen, authorities stopped a motorist "driving suspiciously in the area" and arrested the driver, later identified as Darwin Martinez Torres, 22. Police obtained a murder warrant that charges Torres for her death The number of anti-Muslim bias incidents in the United States jumped 57 percent in 2016 to 2,213, up from 1,409 in 2015, the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group said in a report last month. While the group had been seeing a rise in anti-Muslim incidents prior to Donald Trump's stunning rise in last year's presidential primaries and November election victory, it said the acceleration in bias incidents was due in part to Trump's focus on militant groups and anti-immigrant rhetoric.
  14. VIRGINIA: A 17-year-old American Muslim girl was beaten and abducted after leaving a mosque in Virginia on Sunday by a man who police later arrested on suspicion of murder after her body was found dumped in a pond, authorities said. The attack spurred an outpouring of grief and horror in a Muslim community that has been gathering to pray at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society mosque about 30 miles outside Washington in observance of the last 10 days of Ramadan. The attack happened early on Sunday after the victim and several friends walking outside the mosque got into a dispute with a motorist in the community of Sterling, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a statement. At one point, the motorist got out of his car and assaulted the girl, police said. The teen was reported missing by her friends who scattered during the attack and could not find her afterwards, touching off an hours-long search by authorities in Fairfax and Loudoun counties. At around 3pm, the remains of a female believed to be the teen victim were found in a pond in Sterling, police said. During the search for the missing teen, authorities stopped a motorist "driving suspiciously in the area" and arrested the driver, later identified as identified as Darwin Martinez Torres, 22. Police obtained a murder warrant that charges Torres for her death, the Fairfax County Police Department said. A police spokeswoman told reporters the attack followed some sort of dispute between the man and the girls, and authorities had not ruled out hate as a motivation for the attack. The number of anti-Muslim bias incidents in the United States jumped 57 percent in 2016 to 2,213, up from 1,409 in 2015, the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group said in a report last month. In an incident in London on Monday, a van ploughed into worshippers leaving a mosque, killing at least one person and injuring several in what Britain's largest Muslim organisation said was a deliberate act of Islamophobia. Isra Chaker, a person who said in a Facebook post that she was close to a family friend of the victim in the Virginia incident, said the driver came out with a baseball bat and began swinging it at the girls, Chaker said. "She then went missing (presumably kidnapped/moved by the suspect) and was found dead this afternoon," Chaker said. An online fundraiser for the girl's family had raised $61,606 by Sunday evening. Police said a medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death, though detectives believe the body found in the pond was the missing girl.
