The spirited threesomes are here to ask those hard-hitting questions that we're all afraid of! 3. Stranger Things © Netflix This Netflix original isn't your regular family drama but takes you on the journey of a mother's worst nightmare to the resilience of those who cling to hope. The perfect blend of an 80s movie, it tells a poignant tale of childhood friendships. It's an intriguing story will definitely keep you hooked to the edge of your seats! 4. The Middle © ABC This show is all about the adventures of a middle-class family as they attempt to survive life in Indiana. The show is not laugh-out-loud funny but manages to surprise you in tender and whimsical ways. Their problems are very identifiable that each one of us can totally relate with. From juggling work, marriage and children to struggling through the grapples of adolescence, 'The Middle' has it all. 5. Fuller House © Netflix Who doesn't remember the 90s 'Full House'? In a continuation of the series, where DJ, Stephanie, Kimmy and Kimmy's daughter move into the house to help DJ raise her sons. This Netflix spin-off is definitely one to watch with the kids in your house!
  2. CANNES: He's back and this time he's even older, blinder and more dangerous. Mr Magoo is making his television comeback nearly 40 years after the short-sighted geriatric cartoon menace was last pensioned off. The disaster-prone senior who first appeared in 1949 is back in a new revamped series, causing just as much chaos as before because of his continued refusal to wear glasses. French animation company Xilam has revived the character first created in the United States as a subversive way of sending up mean-spirited McCarthy-era reactionaries. Its chairman Marc de Pontavice told AFP that Magoo´s bumbling brand of slapstick was just the thing to "bring families together in front of the screen". And he insisted that there was plenty of life in the character yet. "He´s not old, he´s ageless. He is wonderfully innocent and optimistic as he goes around creating havoc," he said. Both Magoo´s original creators Millard Kaufmann and John Hubley were blacklisted during the Communist witchhunts early in the Cold War and saw the wealthy yet clueless character as a way of poking fun at their tormentors. Pingu moves to the city But over the years Mr Magoo became a lovably apolitical character who won generation after generation of fans through repeats of the original series. "Mr Magoo is a hugely important figure in the history of animation," de Pontavice said. "He was the first character created by the UPA animation studio which was set up by people wanting to get away from Disney, and he set the tone for a whole new cartoon style." In the new series the myopic old age pensioner and his faithful companion Mr Cat (who is actually a dog) tussle with a megalomaniac hamster whose dreams of greatness are forever being thwarted by Magoo´s mishaps. The character last appeared in a Walt Disney live-action film version in 1997, which flopped badly despite starring Leslie Nielsen of "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" fame. The new 78-part series of seven-minute shows will be screened late next year, with the first episodes premiered at the MIPJunior at Cannes on the French Riviera Sunday. Sneak previews of two other rebooted classic children´s series are also being shown at the gathering, one of the most important in the TV calendar. Thomas the Tank Engine is set to return in a new series of "Thomas & Friends" voiced by Hollywood star Kevin Spacey, who is following in the footsteps of former Beatle Ringo Starr. The "House of Cards" actor will break the so-called ´fourth wall´ -- the imaginary barrier between the actors and audience -- by directly addressing the train´s young fans. "In the new series we´ve got Thomas talking directly to the audience, and its a bit like he´s taking the viewers on the adventure with them," said producer Micaela Winter. "That´s a huge difference from previous series where we had a storyteller telling the story, a bit like a parent reading a book," she added. Pingu the penguin is also in for some big changes, moving from his Antarctic village to a big city of ice in a new series from the Japanese broadcaster NHK, which has taken over the character from its original Swiss creators.
  3. No matter where you go today, somehow politics is always a topic on the table. Ranging from how effective demonetization was to “oh my god, did so-and-so politician just say that?” are just some expressions we drop all the time. Basically, politics is not something we can avoid, even if we want to. Keeping that in mind, you will agree with me when I say there is something about political dramas that is unparalleled when it comes to the genre itself. Watching those powerful men and women scheme their brains off just to get to the top, while they tear anyone apart who gets in their simply delicious! Also, we can appreciate shows that try to show the lighter side of a world that battles its own kind of war every day. Binge-watch your heart out this week with this list of 6 political dramas we are sure you will enjoy: 1. Designated Survivor (c) ABC What happens when you suddenly, against your will become the most powerful person in the world? An explosion during the States of Union kills everyone except one man, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Thomas Kirkman. And he is the next President of the United States. This designated survivor has no clue what he has signed up for and what makes it interesting is that this is not what he wanted...ever! High on drama, this one is a great watch. 2. House of Cards (c) Netflix What are the first words that pop into your head when you hear politics? Conspiracy, planning and plotting, dirty tricks and everything beyond it. Netflix's original 'House of Cards' has it all. Frank and Claire Underwood are so ambitious that they can literally do anything for power...literally. Promises are broken and a path towards destruction is charted, that what this power couple is all about. If you mess with the Underwoods, then may the Lord help you! Watch this and find out for yourself how far you can go to get what you want. 3. Madam Secretary CBS When you are a woman, the world of politics is even tougher as it is supposed to be a 'dog-eat-dog' environment. 'Madam Secretary' follows the life of Dr. Elizabeth McCord who has been appointed as the US Secretary of State. Be it settling international diplomacy issues or battling office politics, McCord's doing her best to balance her work and personal life, without letting either affect the other. This one we can totally vouch for! 4. Veep (c) HBO Looking for something that deals with politics but is less intense and high on comedy? Then 'Veep' is just for you. This series follows the life of Vice President of the U.S. played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The plot is simple- how she and her team try to run a highly charged office. Enjoy the brilliantly charted satirical take. 5. Borgen (c) Twitter This Danish political series is quite interesting and has been critically acclaimed as well. The story revolves around a woman who fights all odds and becomes the first Prime Minister of Denmark. From critical political situations to turbulence in her personal life, both aspects help in building up the story. And believe it or not, many have even pointed out that the series somehow predicted an actual development that happened in Danish politics. 6. The West Wing (c) NBC Many have expressed their love for this series particularly for its making style. Created by Aaron Sorkin, the story traces the journey of U.S. President Josiah Bartlet and his team trying to deal with various situations arising at the White House. Give this one try and enjoy American politics with a twist.
  4. Who knew wearing a smartwatch could be the difference between a life and death situation? A man from New York didn't expect it either and this is his story about how his Apple Watch saved his life. James Green describes himself has as a serial data tracker and he bought the original Apple Watch two years ago for tracking his bike rides and managing notifications. The Apple Watch has a heart-tracking app that tracks your BPM to give you updates about your health. The same heart-tracking app is a big part of this story and how it saved this man's life. (c) MensXP Green was suffering from a pulmonary embolism and had no clue he had the disease until he noticed something unusual on his Apple Watch. His wrist lit up with a notification from HeartWatch, and he soon started cross-referencing all recent data collected by his smartwatch. He discovered that his heart rate was higher than what it's supposed to be and suspected something must be wrong. Never thought a stupid lil wrist computer I bought 2 years ago would save my life. Saw my â¤ï¸ rate go up, ended up being a pulmonary embolism — renata's eyepatch (@_jamestgreen) October 13, 2017 He had pulmonary embolism a few years prior to purchasing the Apple Watch. However, having access to the data proved to be invaluable for him. Green started tracking all data such as food intake, water, sleep duration and heart rate readings. “It was cool to open up the Health app and show it to my physicians and give them more data to work with,” said Green. “I had no idea this watch would save my life.” (c) MensXP Apple Watch has been responsible for saving numerous lives in the past and even though the smartwatch is not formally recognised as a medical accessory, the new sensors on the Apple Watch can track data even more accurately. Apple Watch has been recognised as the most accurate heart rate monitor (amongst smartwatches) by researchers and is now the highest selling watch on the planet. Source: CultOfMac

  6. From just being on the sidelines of an MMA bout, to actually ending up fighting in it and becoming a champion, to getting engaged, we can say one thing for sure – Luis Felipe Alvim had one hell of a night. The 22-year old went to watch the Fora Fight welterweight title fight between Carlos Eduardo Rufino and Claudinei Kall. But, it turned out that Rufino was overweight by just a single pound, so Kall finally decided to pull out after initially accepting, leaving the stage open for any competitor. That's when Alvim came in. © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim The mixed martial arts fan, who is a black belt in muay thai under UFC lightweight Felipe Silva and blue belt in jiu-jitsu, volunteered to take the empty spot. Even though Alvim had never fought in a MMA fight, he stepped into the octagon anyway, putting his skills to test, according to MMA Fighting. Even though he was absolutely throttled during the fight, Alvim managed to get to get Rufino in a triangle choke, forcing him to tap. “He took me down and landed some heavy shots, and I thought 'oh sh*t, what the f*ck am I doing here?” Alvim said. “When I locked the triangle I thought to myself, 'sh*t, I'll catch him.' I asked God 'please, don't let this round end,' and he tapped.” © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim Well, in just one night Alvim made his MMA debut and ended up walking away with the Fora Fight welterweight belt. Posting a picture from the fight on his Instagram, he said, “I believed all the time that I would win and went there and did. I never imagined that it would be that way, nor in my best dream. I fought well and left with that victory.” © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim “It is a memory that I will carry throughout my life. I want to thank God first, then my fiancée, my masters Felipe Silva and Fabiano Silva who believed in me and got me even without training properly for a fight of this size.” After winning the belt, he decided to take this already memorable night to another level. He proposed to his girlfriend right then and there in the octagon, with blood still dripping from his face. And, obviously she said yes. © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim Alvim told MMA Fighting: “I showed my girlfriend - my fiancée now [laughs] - the trailer of the movie 'Troy' yesterday, in which this kid tells Achilles he'd never fight a giant like Achilles was about to do, and Achilles says, 'That's why your name won't be remembered.' That stuck in my mind.” Well, winning a fight you had just gone to watch is enough for people to remember you.
  7. We're living in a fast paced world. If you're worried about being left behind, don't. There's a time for everything! Your time will come too.
  8. When we search for a movie to watch, besides looking at the trailer, we always insist on checking the rating of the movie. We are guessing you do the same, right? Now, we have a little something that should perk your inner movie buff. The blood soaked corporate satire, 'Mayhem', has earned a full 100% rating on 'Rotten Tomatoes'. The set up is a law firm which has been plagued with a virus and people are now quarantined. It turns into a battle for survival as people have to kill each other in order to live. © Circle Of Confusion Joe Lynch is a pretty famous indie filmmaker who reprises his smart storytelling again with this one. Steven Yuen of 'The Walking Dead' fame plays one of the lead characters, who, when the situation strikes, uses the opportunity to smash all the people he hates in that firm. He teams up with a client (Samara Weaving), who is harbouring her own grudges, and together they decide to seek the ultimate revenge and settle their score. It's basically a fully blown showdown of catharsis. 'Mayhem' is already winning accolades for showcasing such gruesome cluster of emotions in such a way. Matias Caruso seems to have done a good job while writing this horror/action adventure. It seems like onscreen killing would come naturally to Steven, from fighting zombies in 'Walking Dead' to killing off bosses in this one. Many people are calling it the ultimate corporate satire as well. © circle of confusion The movie also stars Steven Brand, Caroline Chikezie, Dallas Roberts, Mark Frost, and Andre Erikson. We have mostly been accustomed to watching people being killed in action or zombie movies, this genre remains unexplored and if you have some pent up frustration in your heart and boiling away in your veins, then maybe this is your moment for 'catharsis'. While we hope the movie is as kick-ass as the trailer makes it look like, 'Mayhem' will clearly depict the corporate culture like no other movie has ever done. The movie releases today in the West, and at present there is no idea about the release date for Indian theatres.

  11. French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe attends the questions to the government session at the National Assembly in Paris, France, September 26, 2017. REUTERS/Stephane Mahe PARIS: France?s prime minister said on Thursday he would look very carefully at any attempted ownership change at L?Oreal especially if an international investor sought to buy the world?s biggest cosmetics firm. The death of billionaire Liliane Bettencourt on September 21 has focused attention on how L?Oreal?s founding family and major shareholder Nestle would manage their stakes in the company. Bettencourt?s family owns 33 percent of L?Oreal. Relatives including her daughter have managed the stake for several years since a court found she was suffering from a form of dementia. Nestle retains a 23 percent stake in the company. It has said it has no intention to sell its stake. ?We will be attentive,? Edouard Philippe told France 2 television when asked how he would react if the company were to be subject to an overseas bid. ?I don?t know if it can be described as a strategic asset,? he said. ?Without a doubt, it?s an extremely important asset so I will be very mindful.? In the wake of Bettencourt?s death, a 43-year-old agreement between the family and Nestle not to increase their stakes will expire after six months. There were no restrictions on reducing the stakes. Bettencourt?s only daughter, Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers, who sits on L?Oreal?s board with her husband and one son, has said the family remained committed to L?Oreal and its management.

  15. Apple Inc?s on Wednesday conceded its latest smartwatch unveiled a week ago has problems with its most important feature: the ability make phone calls and access data without an iPhone nearby. Several prominent reviewers said Wednesday they could not recommend the device because of a wi-fi glitch that causes cellular connectivity problems. The Watch Series 3 starts at $399 (293.51 pounds) and was launched alongside new iPhone models. Unlike previous versions of the watch, it has cellular network connectivity built in. Apple said the watch can experience LTE connectivity problems when it connects to open wi-fi networks such as at a hotel or a coffee shop. The company is ?investigating a fix for a future software release,? Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessette told Reuters. Many reviewers such as the New York Times praised the new features and gave generally positive assessments. But other prominent publications, including the Wall Street Journal and The Verge, recommended against purchasing the new model because the LTE cellular data connectivity did not work as expected. The mixed reviews weighed on Apple shares, which closed down about 1.7 percent at $156.07. ?Considering that my Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE (both first and second review units) didn?t function like it was supposed to, I can?t recommend buying it ? and paying the monthly cell fee ? based on promises,? Verge reviewer Lauren Goode wrote. Apart from connection issues, some reviewers were disappointed with the drain on the watch?s battery while making calls. Apple had touted up to 18 hours of battery life but said the watch would get only one hour on a cellular phone call. Gene Munster, a longtime Apple analyst with Loup Ventures, doubted issues with the Series 3 Watch would hurt Apple?s bottom line. ?That review takeaway is a negative but is not a surprise. This is the first generation watch with LTE,? he told Reuters.a negative but is not a surprise. This is the first generation watch with LTE,? he told Reuters. Bob O?Donnell, an analyst with Techanlysis Research, said the watch reviews, paired with reviews of the iPhone 8 that were generally positive but described the phone as an incremental improvement on its predecessor, put more pressure on the iPhone X to garner good press before its Nov. 3 launch.Techanlysis Research, said the watch reviews, paired with reviews of the iPhone 8 that were generally positive but described the phone as an incremental improvement on its predecessor, put more pressure on the iPhone X to garner good press before its Nov. 3 launch.Research, said the watch reviews, paired with reviews of the iPhone 8 that were generally positive but described the phone as an incremental improvement on its predecessor, put more pressure on the iPhone X to garner good press before its Nov. 3 launch. Apple also experienced hiccups with iOS 11, the new operating system the firm released Tuesday. For business users, iOS 11?s Mail application had problems sending mail for Microsoft Exchange and mail accounts.mail accounts.
  16. Apple Inc?s latest smartwatch may have packed many impressive features of a smartphone, but occasional mobile connectivity issues and poor battery life held back several reviewers from recommending the device. The Watch Series 3, launched last week alongside iPhone 8 and iPhone X, boasts an array of features, including email, messaging, smart home controls, maps and Siri. Mashable?s Lance Ulanoff dubbed it as the ?smartest smartwatch yet? as it allows users to do many of the things that they do with their iPhones. However, the watch?s standout feature - which allows users to make calls without an iPhone - has turned out to be a cause for concern due to a connectivity glitch. ?Considering that my Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE (both first and second review units) didn?t function like it was supposed to, I can?t recommend buying it ? and paying the monthly cell fee ? based on promises,? Verge reviewer Lauren Goode wrote. Apple said the watch can experience LTE connectivity problems when it connects to open wi-fi networks the user has visited before, such as a hotel or a coffee shop. The company is ?investigating a fix for a future software release,? Apple spokeswoman Amy Bessette told Reuters. Apart from connection issues, some reviewers were disappointed with the drain on the watch?s battery while making calls. Apple had touted up to 18 hours of battery life. ?You know what definitely won?t like LTE? Your battery,? Wired?s David Pierce wrote. ?I can get a day of the battery from the Series 3 with normal use - about the same as the Series 2 - but if I?m on LTE a lot, it?s more like four or five hours,? he wrote. The mixed reviews of the watch weighed on Apple shares, which were down about 2 percent at $155 in afternoon trading. ?The Series 3 is the strongest indicator yet of what Apple believes the watch ultimately can be: a standalone tiny wrist computer that doesn?t need your iPhone,? Wall Street Journal?s Joanna Stern wrote. ?But if the Series 3 is any indicator of how that?s coming along, we should all hold off until, say, Series X.?

Fighting the goons, sipping wine, and eating cake, staying in fancy hotels off our parents' money, the movie instilled some fancy adventures in our brains. ‘Better Watch Out' is like the millennial ‘Home Alone', except it has a new angle of horror and thrill. © Storm Vision Entertainment It's supposed to be a chilly Christmas offering and stars Levi Miller, Ed Oxenbould, Olivia DeJonge, Dacre Montgomery, Virginia Madsen, Patrick Warburton. There's a babysitter and kids and an intruder in the house. The story looks like a good visual Christmas gift and the home invasion genre only adds to the fun thrill watch. The movie is set in an American suburb and the people inside the house realise that it's not a normal home invasion. The movie is yet to get an Indian release date but sure looks like something we'd look forward to.

  19. Thumbs Up: Stellar performance, interesting story, and Kaavaan Kaavaan song Thumbs Down: The first half can be a bit boring at times To watch or not to watch: Book your tickets now! Kishan Girhotra (Farhan Akhtar) has always dreamt of becoming a singer and forming his own band. Everything is shattered when, suddenly, he is accused of murder and is handed life imprisonment. In jail, he gets an opportunity to form a band with few fellow inmates Parminder Gill (Gippy Grewal), Victor Chattopadhyay (Deepak Dobriyal), Purushottam Madan Pandit (Rajesh Sharma) and Dikkat Ansari (Inaamulhaq) in Lucknow Central prison with the help of an NGO worker, Gayatri Kashyap (Diana Penty). Kishan's master plan is to escape the prison on Independence Day. Now what's left for viewers is to see is if he will achieve his dream of forming a band in the prison or jailbreak? (c) Viacom18 Still wondering to watch or not to watch? Here are 3 reasons of why you should watch this film: 1. Entertaining and Interesting It wouldn't be wrong to say that Lucknow Central is one of the more entertaining films of the year. Giving us a glimpse into life (and politics) in the prison, the story engages us from the start. What makes the story even more interesting is the cat and mouse chase between the jailor (Ronit Bose Roy) and Krishan. It is their equation that totally makes this film worth a watch. 2. Stellar Performances Farhan Akhtar is too good to be true.. As one would expect from him, he has donned his character so well that you just can't take your eyes off him. He totally rocks the show and supporting him are four wonderful actors – Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma and Inaamulhaq. It is because of them that Farhan's character gets more depth. Ronit Roy, once again, leaves us stunned with his acting. He is one of those rare actors who can pull off any role effortlessly. He owns his role and the audience will love him for that. Diana Penty is a delight to watch as is Ravi Kishan (Lucknow Chief Minister). (c) Viacom18 3. Has its own identity Despite having a plot familiar to the recently released film ‘Qaidi Band', the script of ‘Lucknow Central' stands out. It might remind you of ‘Shawshank Redemption', but the film has its own identity and the story of each inmate stands out on its own merit. The film leaves you with the basic thought of how do people live behind bars? What would life out there be like? Is everyone a criminal there? (c) Viacom18 MensXP verdict: Those that might not have seen ‘Qaidi Band' will instantly end up liking the premise of the film. While the first half might seem a bit slow, the actors' stellar performance and entertaining script will ensure you watch it till the end.
  20. Just as Liam Neeson announces his retirement from action/thriller films because he feels he's too old to play an action hero (hear that Shah Rukh?) we'll see him in what we assume his last thriller, ‘The Commuter', coming out early next year. The film seems enticing enough to hold our attention (at least that's what we figured from the trailer) and it unfurls a dramatic criminal conspiracy Neeson is badly stuck in (as per usual). We will see Neeson pair up with director Jaume Collet-Serra once again for this gripping mystery that unravels on the commuter rail that Neeson's character takes daily for his commute. Micheal Woolrich (Neeson), an insurance salesman on his daily commute to work meets a mysterious woman (Vera Farmiga) who drags him into a criminal conspiracy and lures him into an enticing opportunity, which obviously comes with a downside. © slashFilm The conversation between the two characters start when she sits next to him on the train and asks him to solve a riddle and uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on the train he's on. Somehow the riddle turns a bit deadly and before you know it, Micheal is racing against time to solve the mystery before the last train station! Okay, we're not going to give away anymore of the movie. You can watch the teaser below and see what the fuss is all about. 'The Commuter' marks Liam Neeson and Jaume Collet-Serra's forth movie together (enough already!), their last project being 'Run All Night', which was released back in 2015. We just feel this movie will do really well for Neeson post his big ‘retirement' announcement. We expect to see a lot of his fans excited for this one as it might be his last thrillier'ish movie. Naturally you can expect Neeson to run through carriages holding a gun perhaps? And some phone action as well. © MovieWeb His debut as an action hero was with the hit ‘Taken', where he played a government official who is trying to find and reconnect with his daughter (watch it if you haven't already!) and now with a dozen action movies under his belt, he plans to call it quits, right after 'The Commuter' hits the screens, second week of January, 2018. Wait this one out; it's definitely worth the winters!
  21. Bollywood and its experimental nature has resulted in some great work out there. However, there's one theme that no one has dabbled with, something filmmakers are wary of doing and even the society sweeps it away under the carpet. It's the whole issue of dealing with incest. Just because a major part of our upbringing has been about not addressing it, doesn't mean that the elephant is not in the room. However, that is going to change now with a new movie called ‘I Am Roshni'. © crescendo films The movie is India's first major attempt at dealing with incest and before you jump on the car that leads your brain to some kind of judgement, calm down. The trailer gives us a peek of what the makers have tried to do. A perverted uncle, an insensitive mother, a weird boyfriend and a violent father are some of the characters which are actually a reflection of the people around us. How they and a bounded life pushes Roshni (the lead) to get intimate with her brother is what the story is all about. © crescendo films The movie is produced by Crescendo and the nature is nowhere sleazy. The movie has a strong social message that urges families to identify all kinds of abuses and have an open relationship with their kids. The movie stars two newcomers in the lead.
  22. Apple Watches displayed during a launch event in Cupertino, California, September 12, 2017/REUTERS CUPERTINO: More than two years after releasing the Apple Watch, Apple Inc has finally been able to replicate 1940s comic strip technology, an advance that analysts say will spur sales. The Series 3 of the Apple Watch, released on Tuesday along with the much-anticipated iPhone X, features wireless LTE connectivity. That means customers will be able to make phone calls or send text messages from the watch without needing to have an iPhone nearby, as they do with earlier models. The ability to make calls with a wristwatch has captured the imagination of tech enthusiasts at least since it was prominently featured in ?Dick Tracy,? the comic about a private detective who, starting in 1946, used calls from his wrist to help bust bad guys. ?This has been our vision from the beginning,? Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams said at the launch event. ?Now you can go for a run with just your watch and still be connected. It?s really nice to know you can be reached if needed.? To be sure, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has sold smart watches with mobile data connectivity since 2014, but the first devices were bulky and suffered from poor battery life because the data connection consumed extra power. They also require a separate phone number. Apple claims its new Series 3, on the other hand, will have up to 18 hours of battery life and is just a fraction of a millimeter thicker that its previous Series 2. And it will have the same phone number as a customer?s iPhone, which will still be required for the initial set up of the watch. Apple said that all four major U.S. carriers will offer service for the watch, and AT&T Inc and T-Mobile US Inc both said it would cost an extra $10 a month. Analysts generally believe the new connectivity could ignite sales, though there is little consensus as to how much. Jeff Williams, Apple COO, speaks as product images are shown behind him during a launch event in Cupertino, California, September 12, 2017/REUTERS At $399, the new Watch is only slightly more expensive than the previous model, the $329 Series 2, which introduced standalone GPS capability. That $70 extra buys much more useful capabilities - including the ability to stream music from Apple Music. ?The third time is the charm for the watch,? said Bob O?Donnell of Techanalysis Research. What may hold some consumers back is the monthly recurring charge, which would far exceed the extra cost of the Series 3 over older watches over time, said Brian Blau, an Apple analyst with Gartner. ?Yes, you do have to pay for that extra data plan, but it sounds like the carriers are at least going to make it relatively easy to do,? Blau said. Apple does not say how many Apple Watches it sells. Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi believes Apple will sell 12 million watches in its fiscal 2017 and 14 million to 15 million in fiscal 2018. Gene Munster with Loup Ventures predicted a much bigger bump, to 26 million units in 2018. Either way, Apple is putting new pressure on smartwatch rivals such as Fitbit Inc and Garmin Ltd, which would be hard-pressed from a technical and business standpoint to match Apple?s wireless features. But the new Apple Watch still requires an iPhone, which Fitbit believes leaves it ample market room to sell wearable devices that work with all phones, not just iPhones. ?With Android comprising approximately 80 percent of the global smartphone market, broad compatibility remains a core differentiator for Fitbit,? the company said in a statement to Reuters. Garmin did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside normal business hours. The Watch will remain a blip in Apple?s sales, which were $215 billion last year. But it may be taking its place as part of a family of products that Apple loyalists cannot do without - all by making a schoolboy fantasy from the 1940s into reality for the masses.
  23. People hold banners showing victims of Saudi-led air strikes during a demonstration outside the United Nations offices in Sanaa, Yemen August 29, 2017. Picture taken August 29, 2017. REUTERS DUBAI: Human Rights Watch accused the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen of war crimes on Tuesday, saying its air strikes killed 39 civilians including 26 children in two months. The rights group said five air strikes hitting four family homes and a grocery store were carried out either deliberately or recklessly, causing indiscriminate loss of civilian lives in violation of the laws of war. The coalition has repeatedly denied allegations of war crimes and says its attacks are directed against its foes in Yemen?s armed Houthi movement and not civilians. Yemen has been torn by a civil war in which Yemen?s internationally-recognized government, backed by a coalition supported by the United States and Britain, is trying to roll back the Iran-aligned Houthi group which controls most of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa. ?The Saudi-led coalition?s repeated promises to conduct its air strikes lawfully are not sparing Yemeni children from unlawful attacks,? said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, in a statement. ?This underscores the need for the United Nations to immediately return the coalition to its annual ?list of shame? for violations against children in armed conflict,? she said. On August 4, coalition aircraft struck a home in Saada, killing nine members of a family, including six children, ages 3 through 12. On July 3, an air strike killed eight members of the same family in Taiz province, including the wife and 8-year-old daughter, the organization said. HRW said it interviewed nine family members and witnesses to five air strikes that occurred between June 9 and August 4, and did not detect any potential military targets in the vicinity. The war has killed more than 10,000 people, displaced more than three million and ruined much of the impoverished country?s infrastructure. The Saudi-led coalition was formed in 2015 to fight the Houthis and army troops allied with them who have fired missiles into the kingdom. HRW called on United Nations Security Council to launch an international investigation into the abuses at its September session. On Monday, the UN said it has verified 5,144 civilian deaths in the war in Yemen, mainly from air strikes by a Saudi-led coalition, and an international investigation is urgently needed.
  24. Suicide is real. It's as real and hard-hitting a truth as any. But, time after time, we fail to understand and accept the gravity of the situation. Time and again, we fail to address it for what it really is. Because we'd rather live in denial that everything is ‘A-Okay' until it's not and then, we want to feel shameful of the deed and the past. We'd rather sweep it right under the carpet. Because if it isn't there, then, it isn't there, right? Wrong. Pexels Suicide has never been more pressing a matter than before. And games like the Blue Whale Challenge seem to have an easy access to vulnerable souls who need nothing but help and a shoulder to cry on. Instead, we lock it all away until some pseudo online “game” claims the lives of a few. And then, the blame game starts. It's so easy to lay blame on a game. When really, we only have ourselves to blame for someone's suicide. Maybe if we were more open a society; and less judgmental and superficial, we'd be able to see a clearer picture of the ugly truths. We need to start talking; we need to start reaching out; accepting our issues and asking for help. This video, by The Mpower Center and The Mpower Foundation by the Aditya Birla Education Trust, aims to end stigma and encourage dialogue around mental health. The video portrays the brother sharing his mental stress and turmoil through a letter and his sister frantically hoping that his brother hasn't taken any drastic steps. To her relief, he has not taken such steps and is instead reaching out for help. Everyone is not quite so lucky, to see the signs and ask for help, so the video urges us all to listen for the signs. It could save a life. My news feed was full of status updates today because a very prominent indie musician of the country, Karan Joseph died. The reason of his death: We don't know yet. What we know? That it was a suicide. Pexels It's sad. Karan wasn't a nationwide, Bollywood musician, no. But, he was a popular name at every indie music fest; every homegrown creative publication knew him and the music fraternity held him at a very dear place. Now, he's no more. I'm not saying anymore about his death or the fact that he did commit suicide. I'm just going to say that we need to open up the conversations more so that we at least get to seeing reason enough to not lead to suicide. Pexels This World Suicide Prevention Day, let us make a pledge to lend a ear to listen to someone's cry for help.
