  1. 2017 has been a great year when it comes to films in the horror genre. Right from novel adaptations to prequels, horror films kept us glued to our seats and gave us major spooks. Where on one hand, 'It' smashed all box office records and gained immense popularity in the opening weekend, the 'Conjuring' series presented another version of the demonic doll 'Annabelle' and attracted record-breaking footfall at the theatres. Here are the top 10 horror movies, which made 2017 a historic year. It Directed by Andy Muschietti, 'It' broke all records and became the highest grossing horror film of all time. The haunting bogeyman of Stephen King's novel was devilish and spookier than the previous version of the film. The story builds up when a small boy named George disappears inside a drain while running behind his boat. The series of incidents that follow later are meaningful and scary enough to cause jitters. 'It' or Pennywise, the dancing clown made us realize that a horror movie is just not about fear but more than that. Get Out Nominated for his first Golden Globe, actor Daniel Kaluyya describes the film as a well-documented version of everyday experiences. This thriller cum horror has a plot that sends chills down your spine and keeps you glued till the end. 'Get Out' is nominated in the Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, and star Daniel Kaluuya scored a Best Actor nomination in the category for Golden Globes. Annabelle: Creation 'Annabelle: Creation' is the fourth film in the 'Conjuring' franchise. The film depicts how the cursed doll came into being and killed many through her evil existence. The demon inside the doll possesses a teenage orphan and makes her kill others. Split Directed by celebrated director M. Night Shyamalan, the film is based on the existence of 23 different personalities inside an individual. James McAvoy beautifully carries out the role and arouses the real 'beast' in him. This is a performance of a lifetime and is worthy of many awards this season. Raw A teenage French-Belgian horror drama depicts cannibalism at its best. A young girl's taste for human skin is intoxicating and thrilling at the same time. 'Raw' has no space for criticism, but applause. Prevenge The characters in 'Prevenge' are expressive and easily make you delve into imagination, it would be better to call it a 'slasher', right on its mark. Directed by Alice Lowe, the story of a pregnant serial killer is much consuming and smartly puts the viewer in amazement. Gerald's Game Another Stephen King's story comes to the big screen with a captivating screenplay and great performances. A combo of horror and thrill, the film is based on how a *** game turns into the worst form of terror for Jessie, whose husband Gerald dies during the game while she is handcuffed. The Shape of Water Directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, the film has received seven Golden Globe nominations this year. Described as a 'creature feature and a melodrama' by Business Insider, the film presents a compelling story of a mute woman serving as a cleaning lady at a top-secret United States government lab during the 1960s, when she develops a relationship with a creature in the lab. A Dark Song This Irish horror is a story of a woman and an occultist played by Catherine Walker and Steve Oram respectively, who indulge into practicing black-magic rituals and fall prey to something terrifying – A result of witchcraft. This is a powerful portrayal of how a minimum budget film yields a worth-watch affair. Mother Jennifer Lawrence tries stepping into different shoes every time, and this time her performance is noteworthy. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, 'Mother' is pretty similar to 1968 film 'Rosemary's Baby'. Though the film has been called an artist's auto-critique, Javier Bardem and Lawrence together make it a strong affair.
  2. Time and again, MS Dhoni has proved that he is one of the best cricketers the Indian Team has ever got and there is no doubt about his skills as an absolute star. However, with new and young talent joining the squad, there have been times when critics have jumped on the opportunity to compare Dhoni with the newcomers. But leave it to Dhoni to prove all his critics wrong. Well-known for his obsession with being extremely fit, he proved that newcomers probably have nothing on him when it comes to fitness. And that includes youngsters like Hardik Pandya. Ahead of the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka in Mohali, the Indian Cricket Team performed their warm-up routines. Pretty usual right? But what was unusual was seeing Hardik Pandya and Dhoni heading for a 100-metre sprint with the latter outpacing the former. BCCI tweeted a video showing the two running and asked the audience as to who they think won. “A quick 100 metre dash between @msdhoni and @hardikpandya7. Any guesses on who won it in the end?” Pandya who is just 24 years old and is 12 years younger than Dhoni could not keep up with the former captain as for a short while, Dhoni was ahead of the youngster. Watch and marvel: A quick 100 metre dash between @msdhoni and @hardikpandya7. Any guesses on who won it in the end? #TeamIndia#INDvSLpic.twitter.com/HpboL6VFa6 — BCCI (@BCCI) December 13, 2017 Soon after the video went viral, Dhoni's fans were more than shocked and could not stop raving about him and his fitness. HOW is Dhoni faster than Pandya at that age ð³ https://t.co/J1nQ6uL6lZ — Ishwar Venkatesh (@Ishwar_27) December 13, 2017 24 years old Hardik Pandya unable to beat 36 years MS Dhoni !https://t.co/5iALgUExVj — Cricketopia (@CricketopiaCom) December 13, 2017 No way that pandya will win that !Only competition to @msdhoni is BOLT only ð¯ðððð #Thala#bulletrunner — Rahul More (@rahulm66) December 13, 2017 Dhoni is superhuman... At this age also he is so fit to give any youngster run for his money... Dhoni is the pillar of the Indian team.. — Vivek Chaudhary (@vivek_20005) December 13, 2017 MsDhoni proved Tht age is just a number...Fitness level.....ðªðªðªðªðª pic.twitter.com/eo2WByFYI4 — Dil +war (@DIL__war) December 13, 2017 The King always wins ðð @msdhoni ð — Jashan (@SinghJashanBrar) December 13, 2017 Dhoni and skipper Virat Kohli are two of the fastest runners in the Indian Cricket Team. In fact, last month, 23-year-old Axar Patel tried to race Dhoni and Kohli and was beaten hands down. By the end of it, he admitted it was a hard task to beat those two. Well, it's safe to say that this goes on to prove that Dhoni is as fit as a fiddle and age truly is just a number.
  3. The Apple Watch is a nifty little thing and the bands that come with the smartwatch are somewhat stylish, luxurious and practical. A new band has now released that has sensors inside and can be responsible for saving your life. © Kardiaband The KardiaBand, made by AliveCor, works in tandem with the sensors on board the Apple Watch 4 and can detect heart diseases such as atrial fibrillation. These built-in sensors monitor the rhythm of your heart constantly and will notify the user with an electrocardiogram (ECG). A simple press of your thumb or finger to the metal panel on the band will give you an on-the-spot ECG reading. © Kardiaband The KardiaBand is now available to buy in the UK from AliveCor's website and can be shipped to India if you fancy it. You can even buy KardiaMobile, which basically works the same way as the band but does not require an Apple Watch. The band works on a subscription model and has a range of features depending on your membership type. The member ship costs INR 860 per month while the basic membership is free. The KardiaBand comes with a 30-dau free trial for the premium subscription which can be cancelled anytime. © Kardiaband The data collected by the band can be sent to your personal doctor for free and you can pay a little bit extra to have it analysed by a cardiologist. Once your ECGs are sent to a doctor, you will receive a response with findings within 24 hours.

  6. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) – Hindi Dubbed Movie The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
  7. If you've been living under a rock for the past few years, let us tell you that the Apple Watch is currently the best-selling watch in the world. It beats most traditional watches and has overtaken most luxury watch brands as well. It's not just the leader in the smartwatch segment, it also crushes other watch manufacturers. Just a bit of info here as the Apple Watch outsells Rolex, Casio, Swatch or any other watch brand you can think of. Apple launched the new iteration of the Apple Watch along with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and we've been using it for the past month to get to know it better. The watch performs better than before, lasts longer than before and is more accurate than before. So let's get into the details as to why the AW3 is probably the best smartwatch in the world. Design © MensXP Not much has changed since the Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 as it looks identical and follows the exact same design language as before. In fact, the only difference we noticed was the thicker silver coating. Apple never released the 4G LTE version of the Apple Watch in India (due to a lack of carrier support), so we got the non-Esim version for review. However, Apple has introduced new straps for the Apple Watch so that you can customise it according to your liking. I tend to use a leather strap that I bought from a third party manufacturer, but the Sports Loop strap is also one of my favourites. The OLED screen on the watch is the same as before i.e. it can reflect bright colours and makes it easy to read content or notifications on the watch. The Digital Crown is back and can be used to navigate menus and messages and a gentle press to the crown selects different options. The other elongated button below the Digital Crown now acts like a back button where it takes the user to the previous menu or opens a list of recent apps. The Apple Watch Series 3 is also waterproof up to 50 meters, which is an added bonus if you are a swimmer. Using The Apple Watch Series 3 © MensXP Since we got the non-LTE version of the smartwatch, using it feels somewhat similar to the previous Apple Watch models. You can use it to send iMessages by using stock replies or the scribble system. The watch traces every letter you scribble on the touchscreen and forms words for your replies. If you do not like to tap on your watch screen that much, you can even use your voice which will be transcribed as words. I prefer the voice-to-text feature best as it is very convenient and works incredibly well, most of the time (unless you're in a noisy environment). Siri on the Apple Watch has also been improved as it launches faster than before and can help with making calls or replying to texts. The new Apple Watch also has additional storage space for music files which makes it very convenient for runners who don't want to carry their phone anymore. You can download playlists from Apple Music to your phone and it will sync and transfer to your Apple Watch automatically. This was one of the features that we loved because while I'm in the gym, I do not have to scramble to look for my phone to change tracks. We found third-party apps for the Apple Watch still lacking as popular apps like WhatsApp still does not have a native app for the smartwatch. You will still receive notifications from these apps whenever you get a message, however, you cannot reply to them straight from your watch like you can on iMessages. Some apps like Facebook Messenger and Downcast would hang which only proves that many apps are not optimised for the Apple Watch yet. All these apps and others may receive updates to change this situation in the near future. But for now, the Apple Watch Series 3 doesn't work well with third-party apps. Performance This is one area where the Apple Watch Series 3 has improved the most as it now has a new dual-core processor under the hood. The new iterations feel faster from the get-go and you can notice the difference when you launch Apple apps like iMessage and weather. The experience is far smoother and responsive and opens the apps up with lightning speed. The Apple Watch Series 3 comes with WatchOS 4 pre-installed and works differently than before. You now have a dock which shows recent apps that you can scroll through vertically. You can even browse using the Digital Crown and you need to swipe left in order to close the app. If you like to customise your watch, you now have new watch faces that you can play around with. If you are a fan of 'Toy Story', you can now have your favourite characters such as Woody, Buzz or Jessie on your watch face. The biggest disappointment from the Apple Watch Series 2 was the battery life and we are happy to report that the Apple Watch Series 3 has great battery life. The smartwatch can last at least three full days on a single charge and we were relieved to see some much-needed improvement in this area. We used the phone to stream music during workout sessions at the gym and used it to respond to text messages all day. The new continuous heart monitoring system doesn't affect the battery life much which is a plus point, in our opinion. Fitness and Tracking © MensXP The Apple Watch has always been one of the most accurate smartwatches in the world and the story remains the same with the Apple Watch series 3. The watch is informative and also encourages users now to go for a run or a 10-minute walk. Earlier, the Apple Watch would only ask you to complete your rings, however, WatchOS 4 now tells you how much you need to watch in order to reach your goal. Adding heart-rate monitoring is easy, and there are varied tracking options for walking, running, cycling, swimming, and more. Everything gets collated in the Activity app on your phone, where it's laid out in an easy-to-understand interface. When you activate the 'Breathe' application, it vibrates on your wrist creating a very relaxing sensation and works in-sync with the pulsating animation on the watch to help you take longer breaths. The Final Say © YouTube If you already have an iPhone and you are looking for the perfect companion smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 3 is it. It has improved a lot in terms of performance and activity tracking and now has a longer battery life. The smartwatch acts as a great fitness tracker with accurate GPS, steps and heart rate tracking to make it the perfect smartwatch for your iPhone. If you have INR 29,900 at your disposal to spend on a smartwatch, the buck stops here.
  8. There are days when you and bae wanna just sit at home and Netflix and chill in your pj's and messy hair. We mean how many times do you want to binge on drinking sessions or ceremoniously be a part of each and every wedding you're invited to. Don't you just wish to be with her and do things only the two of you enjoy doing? One of them is definitely Netflix and 'chilling' and beyond the movie binge-watching, there is always some raw, hot and steamy *** that follows. We know you don't need constant reminders on how to turn each other on while you're spending some quality time together but there is no harm buffering a sexy movie to get you guys in the perfect mood. So, we have our pick of ten movies that'll make her panties drop in a minute and make your mojo swing like Tarzan, right after watching them. Ahem, you're welcome! 9 Songs © Revolution Films This movie does have an interesting storyline but some believe it to be an excuse for 'soft porn'. The movie is based on a couple's sexual relationship, told through music (hence 9 songs). If you weren't horny before pressing play, you definitely will be after watching this flim. Blue Is The Warmest Colour © Wild Bunch Umm, remember critically acclaimed good cinematic experiences? Well, you can have that with a really explicit ten-minute *** scene in this movie. A beautiful love story that you guys will probably want to sit through. Killing Me Softly © Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer The movie has lots of hot *** scenes between Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes and fulfils the famous '*** with a mysterious hot stranger' fantasy. There is, of course, lots of mystery in the movie to go along with the ***. Worth a watch, if you're watching it for Heathers smashing hot bod. Secretary © Lions Gate Films Back when 'Secretary' made its way in the halls, everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation completely fell in love with the movie and of course got massively turned on as well. The movie unfolds some really sexy S & M role play and if you think you're kinky as hell, you're gonna love this one. 9 1/2 Weeks © Galactic Films Together Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke break every sexual taboo there is through this movie. Remember the famous ice-cube scene? No? Watch this movie! Unfaithful © Regency Enterprises A bit of an intense one but the *** scenes will drive you wild and you will love the chemistry between Diane Lane and Olivier Martinez. As the name suggests, the movie is about being unfaithful (duh). Remember Imraan Hashmi's 'Murder'? Yeah, direct rip off but this one got the *** scenes! Little Children © New Line Cinema Kate Winslet and Patrick Wilson get down and dirty in this one and of course they will, as they're both are stuck in sexless marriages. Watch this for the legendary *** scene on the washing machine scene. Fear © Universal Pictures Watch this movie just so you can act out the famous 'fingering whilst stuck in mid-air' scene with bae! The movie gets a bit too dramatic and borderline creepy towards the end but that scene is worth the watch! Wild Things © Columbia Pictures This 1998 erotic thriller is right up your alley if you're looking something exciting to watch. The *** scene between Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards is gold. Also watch it for the pool scene between Neve and Denise. We lost our mind over how hot Denise is. We're sure you will too. Poison Ivy © New Line Cinema Another erotic thriller, if you're looking for some ahem, rush of blood to the head. This movie has everything, including the very hot Drew Barrymore who gives Sharon Stone a run for her money. So get hot, cosy and comfy with her this coming weekend and pull out the big guns, along with these movies from the interweb!
  9. We all love watching shows like 'Stranger Things', 'Narcos' and 'Black Mirror' on Netflix and we'd catch up on all our favourite TV show, no matter what we are doing. Well, it turns out Indians are watching Netflix even when they are on the go and our viewing habits are not really restricted to our living room or our bedroom. What's interesting is that Netflix came out with a survey that suggests that Indians like to binge-watch when we are on the move. In fact, Indians are the second-highest public bingers in the world (88%), just behind Mexico (89%). Netflix We live in cities where traffic jams are a common occurrence, and many Indians have started taking full advantage of Netflix to stream or download content on their devices. Netflix claims that at least 71% of their Indian customers are binging in public. With the download feature, users are free to watch their favourite movies and TV shows outside the comfort of their couch and take their shows wherever they go. Netflix has gone further in their survey and found out where and when do Indians tend to watch their favourite shows in public. According to the survey, Indians tend to watch TV shows while on train/metro (65%), buses (58%) or on a flight (52%). We are certain that a large part of the population also watches TV shows in Taxis while stuck in a traffic jam, however, Netflix has not provided any data for that. © Netflix In the survey, Netflix also discovered that watching content has now become one of the top five travel essentials (44%), along with wifi (48%) and a comfortable seat (49%), a charger (41%) and food (37%). The survey was conducted by SurveyMonkey and is based on 37,056 responses. The sample was balanced by age and gender and representative of an adult online population who watch movies and TV shows via streaming services in public settings in The United States, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey. Netflix considers India as one of their most important markets and plans to increase productions of local content in the foreseeable future. Netflix is currently working on an 8 episode series called 'Scared Games' based on Vikram Chandra's book by the same name. Netflix currently has over 104 million subscribers in over 190 countries and it seems like India is going to be their next focus on developing new shows. The company is currently investing in producing local content for countries like Brazil, Middle East, India and Canada.
  10. Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram - Photo: WasimAkramlive.com Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram says it is very unfortunate that young cricketers from Pakistan and India are unable to play against each other. ?A Pakistan India match is more fun to watch than the Ashes. 20 million people watch the Ashes while a Pakistan India match is watched by a billion people,? Akram emphasised. [embed_video1 url=http://stream.jeem.tv/vod/5e5901d12b9379b970198a1588bd2303.mp4/playlist.m3u8?wmsAuthSign=c2VydmVyX3RpbWU9MTEvMTAvMjAxNyA5OjA3OjQ1IEFNJmhhc2hfdmFsdWU9WEZZVCtZOWMxMG1ubk12dzF1TVgyZz09JnZhbGlkbWludXRlcz02MCZpZD0x style=center] The Swing ka Sultan, when asked about a Pakistan India series, stated: ?I don?t think ICC has the power to pursue BCCI, but again I have always said people to people contact is necessary. Politics and sport should be separate.? The BCCI, in 2014, agreed to play six bilateral series with Pakistan from 2015 to 2023, four of which were to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board. However, the BCCI has refused to play any of the agreed series yet, neither in Pakistan nor at any neutral venue as Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.
  11. A good whodunit is all about mystery, suspense and a plot that keeps you hooked to the screen with its intriguing script. There are very few movies in Bollywood that keep you on the edge of your seat and you still can't guess who the real culprit is. Well, debutant Abhay Chopra's 'Ittefaq' is all about guessing the murderer until the end. An adaptation of superstar Rajesh Khanna's original film of the same name from 1969, this one stands up to the mark. And here's the highlight: despite being inspired by Yash Chopra's movie, the film has a different storyline. © RedChillies The first few minutes are enough to set the tone of this film. A rainy night, dark tone, mysterious background score, a wild chase between the police and the suspect and it is clear that it has all the elements of a noir film. Plot Dev (Akshay Khanna) is an investigating officer on a double murder case. But this case is twisted, the only witnesses are also the prime suspects in the case. Maya (Sonakshi Sinha) is a homemaker and Vikram Sethi (Sidharth Malhotra) is a famous writer. Both have their own version of that fateful night. Both the stories look very convincing but only one can be true. Now it's up to Dev to figure out who is the real killer and what happened that night! It's difficult to have an opinion for a film like 'Ittefaq' without giving away any spoiler (but we swear no spoilers at all!). So here's all why you should or shouldn't watch this movie this weekend. © RedChillies 1. Akshaye Khanna is on top of his game and takes away the entire spotlight. In fact, he is the perfect choice for Dev and no one could have done it better than him. 2. The confusion created via two different narration works totally in favour of the film, as you just want to know who the murderer is. © RedChillies 3. In Dev's word, there are three sides to this story: “Maya's, Vikram's and the truth”. The work of unveiling the truth pulls all your attention and we are SOLD! 4. Every time you have another dice rolling out, you make your own theories only to find you still have a lot to sink in. 5. By the time you are halfway through the film, the suspense reaches its peak and you find it difficult to wrap your head around what to believe and what not to. © RedChillies 6. Having no music, just like the old film, is an interesting choice. 7. There comes a time when you feel you have seen all this before but that's because of how the story takes time to settle. Dev's old-style-one liners at times are just unnecessary. The interrogation process gets annoying because of the way it flows. 8. But all of this doesn't take away the fact that director Abhay Chopra has dealt with this genre with an ease. Keeping the murder discussion light, he makes you believe in both the versions of the story, even though you know there is just one truth. That's an exceptional job by the director we must say. © RedChillies 9. Sonakshi and Sidharth have played their roles well but Akshaye Khanna's stellar performance is all we can think of. We want to see him more in films; he is the real star of 'Ittefaq'! 10. The real hero is the surprise revelation in the end. Ittefaq is a gripping Bollywood film, which engulfs you completely leaving you at the edge of the seat.
  12. 'Tis the season to get spooked. With Halloween almost here, we have compiled a list of horror movies to get in the festival mood. Even though Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year, binge watching these movies will be the perfect way to kickstart the festival. 1. Trick 'r Treat (2007) © Legendary Pictures This movie focuses on four different Halloween related horror stories, but the one element that ties all of them together is the presence of Sam, a child trick-or-treater wearing orange pajamas. But, he also has a burlap sack over his head, and this mysterious kid makes an appearance in all the stories whenever a character breaks Halloween traditions. 2. Carrie (1976) © Red Bank Films Based on Stephen King's 1974 novel of the same name, the titular character of Carrie, played by Sissy Spacek, is bullied by the meanest of the mean girls, but gets her revenge using her telepathic powers. But, watch out for the surprise, creepy ending! 3. The Others (2001) © Canal+Cruise/Wagner Productions Set in the aftermath of World War II, 'The Others' doesn't really rely on CGI or any other special effects to be scary, unlike a lot of horror movies we see. This movie is all about brilliantly building the tension through the old fashioned dramatic tricks. 4. Sleepy Hollow (1999) © Mandalay Pictures Probably one of Tim Burton's most underrated efforts, this movie follows a police constable, played by Johnny Depp (obviously, after all it's a Tim Burton movie), as he goes to New York City to investigate a series of murders that have taken place in the village of Sleepy Hollow by a mysterious headless horseman. Intriguing enough, right? 5. Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010) © Magnet Releasing This comedy horror movie follows Tucker and Dale, played by Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine respectively, a couple of well-meaning hillbillies. Urban Legend (1998) © TriStar Pictures A slasher movie directed by Jamie Blanks and starring Jared Leto, the plot of 'Urban Legend' follows a series of murders on the campus of a private New England university. The Mist (2007) © Dimension Films Based on the 1980 novella 'The Mist' by Stephen King, it is basically a monster movie, but the central theme also focusses on what ordinary people will be driven to do under extraordinary circumstances. After a thunderstorm cuts of the power, members of a small town go out to pick up supplies. While they are struggling to survive an unnatural mist that has enveloped the town and conceals vicious monsters, extreme tensions rise among the survivors. 8. Grave Encounters (2011) © Tribeca Film Shot in a found footage style, 'Grave Encounters' follows the crew of a paranormal reality television program who lock themselves in a haunted psychiatric hospital. This one is called Halloween, it would just be wrong to not watch this movie on Halloween. Sounds scary, doesn't it? 10. Final Destination (2000) © New Line Cinema What makes 'Final Destination' franchise stand out is how the antagonist is basically death itself, unlike other movies in the horror genre, where it's a stereotypical slasher or any other physical being. The movie is about how a group of teenagers cheat death when one of them had a premonition of a catastrophic plane explosion. But, as fate would have it, Death later comes and takes the lives of those who were meant to die on the plane. Some honourable mentions : It Follows (2014), Drag me to Hell (2009), Cabin in the woods (2012), Devil (2010), Poltergeist (1982), The Shining (1980) Well, go and get in the spirit of the festival!

  14. CANNES: He's back and this time he's even older, blinder, and more dangerous! Mr Magoo is making his television comeback nearly 40 years after the short-sighted geriatric cartoon menace was last pensioned off. The disaster-prone senior who first appeared in 1949 is back in a new, revamped series, causing just as much chaos as before because of his continued refusal to wear glasses. French animation company Xilam has revived the character first created in the United States as a subversive way of sending up mean-spirited McCarthy-era reactionaries. Magoo's bumbling brand of slapstick was just the thing to "bring families together in front of the screen", Marc de Pontavice ? the chairman at Xilam ? told AFP. And he insisted that there was plenty of life in the character yet. "He's not old, he's ageless. He is wonderfully innocent and optimistic as he goes around creating havoc", he said. Both Magoo's original creators Millard Kaufmann and John Hubley were blacklisted during the Communist witchhunts early in the Cold War and saw the wealthy yet clueless character as a way of poking fun at their tormentors. Pingu moves to the city But over the years Mr Magoo became a lovably apolitical character who won generation after generation of fans through repeats of the original series. "Mr Magoo is a hugely important figure in the history of animation," de Pontavice said. "He was the first character created by the UPA animation studio which was set up by people wanting to get away from Disney, and he set the tone for a whole new cartoon style." In the new series, the myopic old age pensioner and his faithful companion Mr Cat (who is actually a dog) tussle with a megalomaniac hamster whose dreams of greatness are forever being thwarted by Magoo's mishaps. The character last appeared in a Walt Disney live-action film version in 1997, which flopped badly despite starring Leslie Nielsen of Airplane! and The Naked Gun fame. The new 78-part series of seven-minute shows will be screened late next year, with the first episodes premiered at the MIPJunior at Cannes on the French Riviera Sunday. Sneak previews of two other rebooted classic children's series are also being shown at the gathering, one of the most important in the TV calendar. In the first, Thomas the Tank Engine is set to return in a new series called Thomas & Friends, breaking the so-called 'fourth wall' ? the imaginary barrier between the actors and audience ? by directly addressing the train engine's young fans. "In the new series, we've got Thomas talking directly to the audience, and it's a bit like he's taking the viewers on the adventure with them," said producer Micaela Winter. "That's a huge difference from previous series where we had a storyteller telling the story, a bit like a parent reading a book," she added. Pingu the penguin ? the second one ? is also in for some big changes, moving from his Antarctic village to a big city of ice in a new series from the Japanese broadcaster NHK, which has taken over the character from its original Swiss creators.
  15. Everett Collection; Courtesy Image NEW YORK: A constant beloved companion of Paul Newman for years, the late Hollywood star´s Rolex has sold for $17.8 million, setting a world auction record for a wristwatch, Phillips said Friday. Given to him by his wife Joanne Woodward and lovingly inscribed while the couple filmed and co-starred in the 1969 movie "Winning," Newman was photographed wearing the iconic stainless steel watch on countless occasions. Auction house Phillips said it was snapped up late Thursday in New York by an anonymous telephone buyer for $17.8 million after 12 minutes of frenzied bidding in a sale that attracted collectors from more than 40 countries. But if it´s the most expensive wristwatch sold at auction, a handcrafted Patek Philippe pocket watch made for New York banker Henry Graves remains the most expensive overall, fetching more than $24 million at Sotheby´s in 2015. Before giving her husband the watch, Woodward had the words "Drive Carefully Me" engraved on the back, in a nod to her anxiety over his fast driving three years after he was injured in a 1965 motorcycle accident. It was on the set of "Winning," when Newman played an IndyCar driver, that the actor developed a life-long love of auto racing. He used the watch, known as the Paul Newman Daytona, to time races and bet with friends that his watch was more accurate than theirs, Phillips said. In 1984 it seemingly disappeared from Newman´s wrist when his wife bought him a new watch, a black, non-exotic dial Cosmograph Daytona. But that summer he gave the watch to his daughter Nell´s then boyfriend, James Cox. The couple dated for nearly a decade after first meeting in college. Newman gifted the watch when he discovered that Cox -- who was helping build a treehouse at the actor´s property in Westport, Connecticut -- did not own one. "Pop handed James his Rolex and said, ´If you can remember to wind this each day, it tells pretty good time,´" wrote Nell in a signed letter accompanying the sale.

Well, then this video, that is currently going viral, could be a lesson, or maybe incentive; all depends on how you look at it. While at the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C., US, Gregory Heinzman decided to bang on the 'aquarium' glass, hoping to see what would happen. © Casey Peck/Facebook Then, when there was no change, he thought that maybe he should hit a little harder. © Casey Peck/Facebook But, oh wait, maybe that was too much provoking. © Casey Peck/Facebook “No no no no no no, what have I done” - his inner monologue, probably. The face of pure regret and horror. © Casey Peck/Facebook As much as we all would like for it to be real, because let's be real a shark cracking the glass is hilarious and scary at the same time, this shark exhibit is a well known troll. Apparently, the 'shark' charges at the glass every time someone touches it, making it seem like its cracking the glass at contact. This fake shark has fooled a lot of people before, but I feel like this one is the funniest of the lot, and it seems like a lot of people agree. The video, which was uploaded on Facebook by Casey Peck, has already garnered over 7 million views in just a few days, and is showing no signs of slowing down. Well, now this is a perfect viral video. Check out the whole video, and get ready to get scared.
  17. Creating a successful and entertaining movie is hard enough work as it is, so naturally the pressure of creating a perfect sequel is pretty Herculean. Moreover, the risk of failure is more, as the audience always intends to see something greater than the previous versions of the film. However, in these times, if a movie is commercially successful, the team starts working for the newer more exciting sequel without any delay. Over the years, movie franchises have earned over billions of dollars, all because they succeeded in creating a dedicated fan following. Here we throw light on some of the most memorable and successful movie series we have always loved watching on repeat. 1. The Dark Knight Trilogy Ace director Christopher Nolan directed three films in the Batman series – 'Batman Begins' (2005), 'The Dark Knight' (2008) & 'The Dark Knight Rises' (2012). Pictures The most iconic character of the 'Joker' was played by Heath Ledger, who died before the film's release and won an Academy Award for best actor in a supporting role (posthumously). All three films turned out to be highly successful; 'The Dark Knight' became the highest grosser of 2008. 2. The Godfather The 'Godfather' series is believed to be one of the greatest and most successful franchises of all time. 18. You just can't forget 'Rajesh Ramayan Koothrappali' from 'Big Bang Theory' with his god-awful sweater vests and a naive yet kind heart. Portrayed by Kunal Nayyar, Raj's character is just too hard to ignore. Raj is one of the five main characters to appear in every episode. For people who don't know much about his character, Raj is Howard Joel Wolowitz's (Simon Helberg) best friend, the two have an amazing on-screen presence and their bromance is hysterically awesome. However, at times things do take an awkward turn due to his metrosexuality. Well, Kunal recently made a brief appearance on the 'Ellen Show' and the discussion the two had is already making waves thanks to its hilarious content. (c) CBS When an actor appears on Ellen DeGeneres' show you know what to expect. Fun, embarrassing moments, intimate topics and of course, pure insanity. And that's exactly how Kunal and Ellen's conversation went down. From him admitting that he waves to literally anyone....even if he has no idea who they are, to his religious commitment to eating, the entire episode was filled with moments that leave you in splits. However, what grabbed our attention was when the two started talking about the festival of lights. The actor went on to explain how Diwali is celebrated in India and what people usually do during those days. He told her about 'Choti Diwali' and explained, “It's like small Diwali and then today is the actual Diwali. People start partying a week before.” (c) The Ellen Show Ellen even asked him if people eat or drink a certain item to which Kunal said, “No just alcohol and food.” The concept of partying way before the actual festival began left Ellen feeling considerably jealous as she said, “You should have a small holiday before a big one, why don't we have one before the big one?” And later she came up with an epic idea of having Thanksgiving in Diwali style. Well, that's an interesting take. The two are so natural and spontaneous that you can't get enough of them. This clip is still trending on 49th position in YouTube and just within few days has got over 3,70,000 views. Check out her Ellen's full response because it's too good to miss.

  22. No matter where you go today, somehow politics is always a topic on the table. Ranging from how effective demonetization was to “oh my god, did so-and-so politician just say that?” are just some expressions we drop all the time. Basically, politics is not something we can avoid, even if we want to. Keeping that in mind, you will agree with me when I say there is something about political dramas that is unparalleled when it comes to the genre itself. Watching those powerful men and women scheme their brains off just to get to the top, while they tear anyone apart who gets in their way....is simply delicious! Also, we can appreciate shows that try to show the lighter side of a world that battles its own kind of war every day. Binge-watch your heart out this week with this list of 6 political dramas we are sure you will enjoy: 1. Designated Survivor (c) ABC What happens when you suddenly, against your will become the most powerful person in the world? An explosion during the States of Union kills everyone except one man, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Thomas Kirkman. And he is the next President of the United States. This designated survivor has no clue what he has signed up for and what makes it interesting is that this is not what he wanted...ever! High on drama, this one is a great watch. 2. House of Cards (c) Netflix What are the first words that pop into your head when you hear politics? Conspiracy, planning and plotting, dirty tricks and everything beyond it. Netflix's original 'House of Cards' has it all. Frank and Claire Underwood are so ambitious that they can literally do anything for power...literally. Promises are broken and a path towards destruction is charted, that what this power couple is all about. If you mess with the Underwoods, then may the Lord help you! Watch this and find out for yourself how far you can go to get what you want. 3. Madam Secretary CBS When you are a woman, the world of politics is even tougher as it is supposed to be a 'dog-eat-dog' environment. 'Madam Secretary' follows the life of Dr. Elizabeth McCord who has been appointed as the US Secretary of State. Be it settling international diplomacy issues or battling office politics, McCord's doing her best to balance her work and personal life, without letting either affect the other. This one we can totally vouch for! 4. Veep (c) HBO Looking for something that deals with politics but is less intense and high on comedy? Then 'Veep' is just for you. This series follows the life of Vice President of the U.S. played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The plot is simple- how she and her team try to run a highly charged office. Enjoy the brilliantly charted satirical take. 5. Borgen (c) Twitter This Danish political series is quite interesting and has been critically acclaimed as well. The story revolves around a woman who fights all odds and becomes the first Prime Minister of Denmark. From critical political situations to turbulence in her personal life, both aspects help in building up the story. And believe it or not, many have even pointed out that the series somehow predicted an actual development that happened in Danish politics. 6. The West Wing (c) NBC Many have expressed their love for this series particularly for its making style. Created by Aaron Sorkin, the story traces the journey of U.S. President Josiah Bartlet and his team trying to deal with various situations arising at the White House. Give this one try and enjoy American politics with a twist.
  23. Who knew wearing a smartwatch could be the difference between a life and death situation? A man from New York didn't expect it either and this is his story about how his Apple Watch saved his life. James Green describes himself has as a serial data tracker and he bought the original Apple Watch two years ago for tracking his bike rides and managing notifications. The Apple Watch has a heart-tracking app that tracks your BPM to give you updates about your health. The same heart-tracking app is a big part of this story and how it saved this man's life. (c) MensXP Green was suffering from a pulmonary embolism and had no clue he had the disease until he noticed something unusual on his Apple Watch. His wrist lit up with a notification from HeartWatch, and he soon started cross-referencing all recent data collected by his smartwatch. He discovered that his heart rate was higher than what it's supposed to be and suspected something must be wrong. Never thought a stupid lil wrist computer I bought 2 years ago would save my life. Saw my â¤ï¸ rate go up, ended up being a pulmonary embolism pic.twitter.com/r97uRcX0En — renata's eyepatch (@_jamestgreen) October 13, 2017 He had pulmonary embolism a few years prior to purchasing the Apple Watch. 25. From just being on the sidelines of an MMA bout, to actually ending up fighting in it and becoming a champion, to getting engaged, we can say one thing for sure – Luis Felipe Alvim had one hell of a night. The 22-year old went to watch the Fora Fight welterweight title fight between Carlos Eduardo Rufino and Claudinei Kall. But, it turned out that Rufino was overweight by just a single pound, so Kall finally decided to pull out after initially accepting, leaving the stage open for any competitor. That's when Alvim came in. © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim The mixed martial arts fan, who is a black belt in muay thai under UFC lightweight Felipe Silva and blue belt in jiu-jitsu, volunteered to take the empty spot. Even though Alvim had never fought in a MMA fight, he stepped into the octagon anyway, putting his skills to test, according to MMA Fighting. Even though he was absolutely throttled during the fight, Alvim managed to get to get Rufino in a triangle choke, forcing him to tap. “He took me down and landed some heavy shots, and I thought 'oh sh*t, what the f*ck am I doing here?” Alvim said. “When I locked the triangle I thought to myself, 'sh*t, I'll catch him.' I asked God 'please, don't let this round end,' and he tapped.” © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim Well, in just one night Alvim made his MMA debut and ended up walking away with the Fora Fight welterweight belt. Posting a picture from the fight on his Instagram, he said, “I believed all the time that I would win and went there and did. I never imagined that it would be that way, nor in my best dream. I fought well and left with that victory.” © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim “It is a memory that I will carry throughout my life. I want to thank God first, then my fiancée, my masters Felipe Silva and Fabiano Silva who believed in me and got me even without training properly for a fight of this size.” After winning the belt, he decided to take this already memorable night to another level. He proposed to his girlfriend right then and there in the octagon, with blood still dripping from his face. And, obviously she said yes. © Instagram/Luis Felipe Alvim Alvim told MMA Fighting: “I showed my girlfriend - my fiancée now [laughs] - the trailer of the movie 'Troy' yesterday, in which this kid tells Achilles he'd never fight a giant like Achilles was about to do, and Achilles says, 'That's why your name won't be remembered.' That stuck in my mind.” Well, winning a fight you had just gone to watch is enough for people to remember you.
