Akshay Kumar recently,in an interview, revealed as to why he only works with debutant directors and not big directors.

The 52-year-old actor, who will be next seen in his upcoming film Good Newwz, told IANS in an interview, “I work with new directors because big directors don't take me (in their films). That is the truth.”

He added, "When big people don't take you (in their films), you have to start your journey. If you don't get a job in a big publication, you will go through a smaller one. From there you jump. You cannot just sit at home and wonder why people don't take me (in their films) despite me being so capable.”

Akshay 'Khiladi' Kumar has worked with more than 20 newcomer directors such as Jagan Shakti for Mission Mangal, Shivam Nair for Naam Shabana, Tinu Suresh Desai for Rustam and many more.

Besides, he also expressed how the films were gone to the ones who deserved it. "They (big directors) went to the people who deserved it. You see, it's not that only the Khans were around. There were the Kapoors and the others. I presume I didn't deserve it, so I earned it my way," he added.

"I still don't have big directors (directing me). They are producing films with me but they are not directing. Karan Johar is there, you should ask him. You should ask Adi Chopra (Aditya Chopra)," said the actor.

Speaking about having worked with a new director yet again in his upcoming film, Akshay said, "Raj Mehta is my 21st new director. I also feel their greed to do good work is far more than many old directors. For them, it is a do or die situation because (they think) if the film doesn't work, then they are finished."

In the film Good Newwz, which is scheduled to release on December 27, Akshay will be seen with Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles.
