There are films that work at the box office despite receiving poor reviews and then there are films that receive good reviews, work well at the box office however, you wonder while watching them, “What is it that people love about it that you are unable to appreciate?” In this week’s unpopular opinion, here’s a list of highly loved, fan-favourite films that I absolutely found overrated. Pretty sure I am going to receive a lot of love from the fans of these movies in the comments. Keeping that in mind, take a look at the list 5 overrated Bollywood films below: 1. Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013) © Dharma Productions Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur & Kalki Koechlin. Upon its release, it received positive reviews and turned out to be a blockbuster earning over Rs 190 crore at the box office. Over the years, it has garnered a following of its own on social media with many users often referring to it as a modern-day classic. But, here’s the thing, when I first watched the film back in 2013, I found it at best mediocre and frivolous. Upon seeing the love it continues to get from a section of the audience, I decided to revisit it but still ended up not liking it. In my unpopular opinion, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is a highly overrated film. Period. 2. Bajirao Mastani (2015) © Eros International Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bajirao Mastani starred Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. The movie was released alongside Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan & Kriti Sanon. Surprisingly, it earned more than the SRK starrer in the long run in India, although King ruled overseas & worldwide. Moreover, the reviews were mostly positive. Amid the hype, I went to watch the film and to simply put, found it… boring. Of the three films that SLB made with Ranveer & Deepika, this is the most forgettable. 3. Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) © Dharma Productions Shakun Batra's directorial debut starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan was an average success at the box office but in recent years I have come across many tweets calling the film ahead of its time and how it is a masterpiece. Some have even called it one of the best rom-coms in Bollywood. I decided to revisit the film again and I have to say it is as mediocre as it was back in 2012. Just because a film gets old it automatically doesn’t become good. 4. Vivah (2006) © Rajshri Productions I still don’t get all the hype around the love and box office Vivah received. So much so that it turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office. I have often enjoyed Sooraj Barjatya films (Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain) and have watched them multiple times but with Vivah, it was difficult for me to even go through it once. It’s cringe. 5. Rustom (2016) © Zee Studios Okay, this isn’t exactly a film that many people love but somehow it was a box office success and won its lead star Akshay Kumar a National Film Award. Moreover, it also has a high IMDb rating of 7.1. To be honest, ever since Akshay Kumar’s golden run started at the box office with the 2016 film Airlift, Rustom is his worst film. Housefull 4 is still better and I didn’t enjoy that film at all. Still trying to wrap my head around Akshay’s National Award win and the film's high IMDb rating. View the full article

Bollywood is life. Our song and dance sequences, no matter how unreal and dramatic, are the coolest. After all, what's life without some drama. Life's too short to be boring. It’s always a little hard to resist shaking a leg when the DJ plays a Bollywood song, isn’t it? And guess who is the latest to be smitten with Bollywood? An old video has surfaced on the internet and it shows what looks like former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf dancing to the crazy hit number “Dilli Wali Girlfriend” from ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’. How can anyone not love Bollywood? Can't blame him; look at Deepika and Ranbir's sizzling chemistry here. Dancing in that gorgeous red dress, Deepika sure is the seductress who can put to shame all girlfriends. Kudos to Kumaar for the lyrics that had Delhi girls sharpening their nails.
