Gautam Gambhir, who put down his cricketing bat for India to pick up the flag of BJP as their MP, has recently been in the light for the good and the bad. © India Today On Thursday (June 03) Delhi's drug controller told the High Court that the former cricketer's Gautam Gambhir Foundation had illegally stocked and distributed Covid medicines. © Zee News Gautam Gambhir Foundation found guilty of unauthorisedly stocking, giving Fabiflu drug to COVID-19 patients: Drug Controller to Delhi HC — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) June 3, 2021 The drug controller said that the foundation was "found guilty" of procuring and distributing Fabiflu medicines to COVID-19 patients without a license. © TOI Nandita Rao, an advocate appearing for the drug controller, told the High Court that the foundation's stocking of medicine in an unauthorized manner was an offense under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Aside from Gambhir, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Praveen Kumar was also found guilty of similar offenses under the act. "The inquiry by drug controller found that the Fabiflu and oxygen were distributed for free by both of them but neither had a license to either buy or distribute. And so both have been found in violation of section 18C of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for purchase and distribution of Fabiflu and Oxygen respectively without a license," said an official while speaking with NDTV. However, soon after news of the hearing emerged in the public domain, Gautam Gambhir, who has been quite vocal about his feeling of doing nothing wrong, took to Twitter to share a quote by India's iconic freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh. I don't have to tell anyone that John Cena's Instagram is one of the weirdest places on the internet. It's so random that we never know what this guy is even trying to say, and actually, that is his intention. It's like a piece of art which is up for interpretation. But, whatever the case may be, sometimes his random pictures catch every Indian's eye and desi people simply get confused and weirdly proud about it. ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister House on Monday clarified the media reports regarding Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's response on a query about investigation into corruption scandals of previous government, saying he was quoted out of context. According to a PM House statement, during his visit to the New Islamabad International Airport on May 6, a journalist had raised a question regarding the undue delays and phenomenal increases in the cost of development projects initiated during the previous regimes. The prime minister was asked whether the present government was considering investigation and identification to find those responsible in the previous government so that such practice was not repeated in future. The PM House said that referring to the corruption scandals of the past regimes, the prime minister had stressed on holding those accountable who were at the helm of affairs in the past and looted public money while claiming to serve the nation. The prime minister, while endorsing the need to hold the previous regimes accountable said that such probes must obviously reach their logical conclusions. "History is witness to the fact that PML-N's government has always come into power after the people of Pakistan renewed the credentials of the party's leadership. This is the result of honouring of commitments made by PML-N's leadership to the people of Pakistan," the statement said. The prime minister said that the government's commitment to root out corruption was evident from the fact that despite completing mega projects in diverse fields, there was no scam of corruption against the present government. He said the government had ensured merit and transparency in the execution of all projects, saving billions of rupees for the national exchequer. The government, however, cannot divert its energies from bringing revolution in the socio-economic spheres and accomplishing the hitherto ignored infrastructure development in the country in a qualitative and transparent manner, he added. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said there was rule of law in the country and all institutions were performing their mandated duties without fear or favour. -
