After the completion of the first ODI against the West Indies, Suryakumar was compared with Michael Bevan for batting at number five and winning the match for his team. It feels nice for any cricketer to be compared with another cricketer who has done excellent work for his team. However, while comparing two players we may achieve our journalistic pleasure and satisfaction but we may end up leaving the player in question under unnecessary pressure. Recently after the first ODI against West Indies, India batter Suryakumar Yadav, popularly known as ‘SKY’ nicely replied to a journalist who tried to compare Surya with Michael Bevan. Surya said “Let me be me’. Suryakumar Yadav shrugs off Michael Bevan comparisons on his batting role https://t.co/GaIFoUsoRs pic.twitter.com/ilRL0zi81x — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) February 8, 2022 Of course, Suryakumar is there because he is the devastating batsman who is flexible to play for the country at whichever position he is sent to be in. Also, he has just played 16 matches for India across all formats as compared to Bevan’s 186. So, where is the comparison? Bevan hung up his boots long before SKY even entered the arena. The lad has the potential and his own way of playing the game. Players like him need to be given the freedom of just being what they naturally are rather than placing a yardstick in front of them by comparing them with other players. At the moment, the Men in Blue are already facing a lot of flak because of their lack of consistency and losing matches that were supposed to be easily winnable. During such a time, bringing forward such outrageous comparisons feels like a reach. It's rare to find a player who is flexible to bat at any position that they are sent at. That too at the international level. It needs real guts and confidence to take on the challenge and perform. Suryakumar is one such player who is fearless and committed to the game. He wants to be the Surya that shines on the ‘SKY’. So let him be what he is and where he wants to be. The star of the first ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Yadav played another brilliant inning of 34 runs in 36 balls. More often than not, he has proved his worth for the team he plays for. Be it for the Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League, first-class matches or for Team India. View the full article

After releasing in theatres earlier this month, Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivii is now streaming on Netflix. Kangana is riding high on the success of her latest movie based on J Jayalalithaa. Thalaivii was well-appreciated by critics as they liked Kangana’s performance but it faced losses as multiplex chains like PVR Cinemas and INOX Leisure Ltd refused to screen the Hindi version of the film. As the movie has been received well by the audience, she took to Instagram stories and wrote, “Rarely a film loved passionately and unanimously… And Thalaivii is one such film… I am glad people [are] getting to know Purchai Thalaivi Dr. J. Jayalalithaa’s story. Also big thanks to my team for making a film which is a shining diamond in my filmography. #gratitude.” © Kangana Ranaut Instagram Starring Arvind Swami as MG Ramachandran, Prakash Raj as M Karunanidhi, Jisshu Sengupta as Sobhan Babu, and Bhagyashree as Jayalalithaa’s mother Sandhya, the multi-lingual film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan and Shailesh R Singh. Kangana also attacked the Bollywood mafia that ignored her once again and urged the Hindi film industry to rise about petty issues. She wrote, “Meanwhile waiting for Bollywood Mafia to keep our political and ideological differences aside just how I don’t find it difficult to appreciate genuine art maybe they can also rise above petty human emotions and for once let art win #Thalaivii.” © Kangana Ranaut Instagram We wonder how the 'Bollywood mafia', that Kangana is referring to in her post, would react to her statements. For her role in the movie, Kangana had to gain 20kg and undergo major physical transformation several times. She took to Instagram to share her experience and said all these physical changes have left her with “permanent stretch marks." View this post on Instagram “Gaining 20kg in 6 months and losing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body I also have permanent stretch marks as well but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself," she wrote. If you have seen the movie, you would agree with the fact she has put her blood and sweat into the character. View the full article
