Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has collected over Rs 240 crore since its March 11 release and continues to earn money despite being in its fourth week and facing competition from SS Rajamouli’s mega blockbuster RRR and John Abraham’s Attack. Recently, in an interview, filmmaker Karan Johar finally opened up about The Kashmir Files’ massive box office success and went on to call it the biggest hit of Indian cinema in terms of return on investment. The movie has reportedly been made on a small budget of Rs 15 crore. © Zee Studios While talking about the success of recent films and deciding if it deserves an OTT or a theatrical release, Karan Johar told Galatta Plus, “For example, let’s just see, a film has to have that connect with this country like The Kashmir Files is not made on a budget like a lot of other movies but it is probably going to be cost to profit the biggest hit of Indian cinema.” He further added, “I read Box Office India and they said that such a movement hasn’t happened since Jai Santoshi Maa, you know, since 1975. And I am like, you gotta acknowledge that there is something that is connecting with this nation and academically you have to watch it. You have to watch it to learn from it that ’look there is this movement that has happened’. It’s not anymore a film, it’s a movement.” Check out the video below: The Kashmir Files stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi among others. As for Karan Johar, he is returning to direction after 8 years with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. © Karan Johar Instagram The filmmaker was supposed to helm period drama Takht but that film was put on hold indefinitely due to various external factors including the pandemic and Karan decided to work on a romantic comedy instead. At the recently held press conference, John Abraham refused to talk about The Kashmir Files stating he was there to talk about his film Attack and will only do that. During the promotions, he has also been mentioning how promoting films on shows does not necessarily translate into additional ticket sales at the box office. And now, during an interview with Tried & Refused Productions YouTube channel, John talked about how promoting a film on The Kapil Sharma Show doesn’t really help a film much. © JA Entertainment He said that his director Lakshya Raj Anand is quite hyperactive when it comes to film promotions and marketing and added, “I haven’t seen the film (The Kashmir Files) but I told him, the best example of a film working without marketing is right in front of you. It has just happened. And another film that was over-marketed….correct. Tell this boy.” John continued, “He took me to The Kapil Sharma Show saying, ‘I want to be on Kapil Sharma’. (laughs)” Adding, “I love Kapil. He is a nice boy. But promoting a film on the show doesn’t translate into ticket sales.” Lakshya, in his defence, replied that it gives the film awareness. To which John responded, “Yeh sudhrega nahin. Kitna main isko bolun? (He doesn’t want to understand.) I told him, ‘Lakshya, we are doing this for you. I am telling you this doesn't work but we are doing this for you.’ ” © Instagram/John ABraham Check out the video below: For the unversed, The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri had claimed before the release that Kapil Sharma refused to promote their film on his show stating it didn’t have big stars. Kapil later denied the accusation while Anupam Kher revealed in an interview that he was, in fact, invited for the show but he decided not to go considering the subject of the film was quite serious. The Kashmir Files wasn’t promoted on the show, it went on to collect over Rs 230 crore at the box office and is expected to hit the Rs 250 crore mark by the end of its historic run. © JA Entertainment As for John Abraham’s Attack, the film is slated to release on April 1, 2022, and also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh and Prakash Raj. Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar has collected over Rs 230 crore at the box office and is on course to go past Rs 250 crore in the next few days. The film is in its third week but the collections are refusing to slow down. Amid the film’s unexpected and unprecedented box office success, there was a discussion on social media about how Bollywood is mum about it. © Zee Studios Barring a handful of stars like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan, not many have spoken about its success. In a recent interview with TimesNow Navbharat, Anupam Kher was asked about Bollywood’s silence over the film’s huge success, he replied, “As far as the Hindi film industry is concerned, I think they're too much in shock. Aisa kabhi hua nahi hai. Whenever a shocking thing happens, it's a very very strange reaction.” He further cited an example of his 1994 all-time blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and added, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun ka premiere hua tha toh the industry was saying, 'Oh my God! Yeh kya banaya diya hai, yeh toh shaadi ka video hai'. But it turned out to be the biggest grosser.” He further talked about the A-listers of the Hindi film industry and their reactions to the film and revealed that Salman Khan personally called him. He said, “But individually, I must say, Salman Khan called me the other day and congratulated me.” © BCCL He also opened up about the film hitting the Rs 200 crore mark and said, “Aam zindagi mei maine socha tha ki kabhi agar meri film 200 crore karegi toh main kya karunga. Mai pagal ho jaunga, main sadko pe bhaagunga (I will go mad, run on the streets). We have a hierarchy here that certain heroes' films do 100-200 crores business.” Anupam Kher and Salman Khan have starred together in several films including Dil Tera Aashiq, Hum Aapke Hain Koun!, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Jaan-E-Mann and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo among others. Vivek Agnihotri's directorial venture, The Kashmir Files, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, has turned out to be a box office rage. Even after entering the Rs. 200 crore club, the film is in no mood to slow down and is performing well despite facing stiff competition from SS Rajamouli's RRR. View this post on Instagram Seeing its success, many people have questioned the filmmaker, if he plans to share the profits with the victims, the Kashmiri Pandits. Reacting to it, Agnihotri and his actress-wife Pallavi Joshi, who also played a pivotal role in the film, have criticised people asking such questions. While talking to RJ Siddharth Kanan, Pallavi revealed that they used The Taskent Files earnings to fund The Kashmir Files research. She went on to say that during their research, they came across children who did not have access to literature. View this post on Instagram Agnihotri then intervened and shared, "From past few years, we are helping the Kashmiri Pandit community and when do you ‘service’ work I don’t like to talk about it. We’ve been doing it for a long time and we’ll keep doing it. It’s been us and them and I don’t think we owe anything to 3rd person". Criticising people who asked to donate The Kashmir Files profits, Pallavi added, "I think it’s very vulgar of people to actually ask us, ‘if you earn 400 crores, how many crores will you donate to them.’ This is a very vulgar question for people to ask because the film already has 4 producers. Who gets how much is a very long drawn mathematics. Also, whenever any producer makes money out of any film, they obviously put it to make more projects". You can watch the interview here: Recently, comedian Kunal Kamra trolled Agnihotri for not sharing the film's earnings with Kashmiri Pandits and dodging the question during a press conference in Lucknow. However, social media users took a dig at the comedian stating that no other Bollywood producer is asked to donate the earnings from their film. For the unversed, The Kashmir Files has become the biggest post-pandemic hit, as of now. Besides Pallavi, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Mithun Chakraborty in important roles. On the career front, Agnihotri is now all set to complete the 'Files' trilogy with The Delhi Files. Reportedly, the upcoming film will be based on the right to life. Well, fans are already looking forward to it. View the full article

Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui has come out in support of Vivek Agnihotri and his movie The Kashmir Files amid the movie being stirred in controversy. Starring actors like Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar among others in pivotal roles, The Kashmir Files has really come all guns blazing at the box office. © Zee Studios Such has been the success of the critically-acclaimed film, that it has broken several records at the box office and is all set to enter the Rs. 200 crore club. The Kashmir Files revolves around the gut-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle & trauma experienced by the Kashmiri Pandits, who had been ousted from the region back in the 90s. Now, with the movie questioning democracy, religion, politics, and humanity at the time, a lot of the elements in the film have been labeled very controversial and one-sided. Now, with Bollywood too reportedly staying silent over the film, popular Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddique has offered some support for the movie. © Instagram/Nawazuddin Siddiqui While the actor is yet to watch the film, he's revealed that he will soon follow in the footsteps of many Indians in watching the movie and also spoke on the oppositions faced by the movie. “People are watching it, so I will also watch it.” "I have no idea about that. But, every director has a style and point of view for making films. He made a film from his point of view, which is good. Others will also make films from their perspectives, in the future. And, that is great." he said while speaking at the ABP Network’s Ideas of India summit. Nawaz, who will next be seen in Heropanti 2 opposite Tiger Shroff, also defended Vivek Agnihotri's perspective of making the film, at a time when the director has landed himself in trouble for a police complaint. © Instagram/Vivek Agnihotri "When a filmmaker makes a film, he/she does so from his perspective, with a unique style of viewing things. It should be allowed for any filmmaker to add their own perspective even to films based on real incidents. I cannot speak any more on this as I have not watched the film." he said. The Kashmir Files has created such a huge wave in Indian cinemas that even Akshay Kumar has accepted defeat, with his movie Bachchan Pandey being humbled by the Vivek Agnihotri film. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is considered to be one actor who is known to bring home blockbusters year after year. The Sooryavanshi actor is one who does 5-6 or sometimes more films in a year, with almost all of them bringing in good box office numbers. Now, with such an ability, it is a no-brainer that Akshay gets so much work and is paid so well in Bollywood as directors consider his touch to be a golden one. However, it looks like Akshay might have admitted defeat for the first time in a long time. As you know, Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files has really brought Indians to the cinemas like no other movie. © Zee Studios With the movie focusing on the atrocities in Kashmir on the Kashmiri Hindus, there's a lot that is being said and debated, making it a completely different kind of film in terms of the current political dynamic. Having said that, it had been forecasted that no movie would be able to compete with it in the Indian theatres at the moment. However, Akshay's latest film Bachchan Pandey featuring Kriti Sanon, and Arshad Warsi released on March 18. © AA Films Now, while Akki's movies are always the ones to be usually scared of, this time around Kashmir Files was just too strong an opponent to take on. According to the latest reports, Kashmir Files has minted over a staggering Rs 200 crore at the box office, with Akshay's Bachchan Pandey receiving a rather humble response in comparison to the Vivek Agnihotri film. And now, it looks like Akki too has made the admission about Kashmir Files doing better. While speaking at an event in Bhopal, the actor said that Kashmir Files 'drowned' his Bachchan Pandey film. "Vivek ji ne Kashmir Files bana kar humara desh k ek bohot bade dardanak sach ko samne rakha hain. Ye film ek aisi bhet bann kar ayi, ye aur baat hain ki meri picture ko bhi duba diya hain. (Vivek Agnihotri has brought to the forefront a bitter truth. The film has come like a blessing, but yes it destroyed my film Bachchhan Paandey)" said Akshay. Here is the video of Akshay speaking and Vivek Agnihotri himself has responded to it as well. The Kashmir Files stars yesteryear superstar Mithun Chakraborty and veteran actor Anupam Kher in the leading roles. However, the film is centred around the character of Krishna Pandit played by Darshan Kumar who is a known face in the web world due to his roles in shows like Aashram, Avrodh, The Family Man and has featured in movies like Mary Kom, NH10 and Sarbjit. After playing supporting characters and negative roles, Darshan got his first lead role in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files and received a lot of acclaim for his layered performance. That was without a doubt his breakthrough role but Darshan has been around since the year 2000. A few may remember that before getting meatier roles in films, Darshan starred in two highly popular movies in 2001 and 2003 as one of the friends of the lead actor. Ever since the massive box office success of The Kashmir Files, there are a lot of people who have asked its director Vivek Agnihotri if he plans on sharing the huge profits earned from the film with the victims i.e the Kashmiri Pandits. A few days back an IAS officer from Bhopal had requested The Kashmir Files makers to donate the earnings from the film for the welfare of affected Kashmiri Pandits. Vivek had then avoided the question and responded that he’d like to meet him in person “so we can meet and exchange ideas on how we can help and how you can help with the royalty of your books and your power as an IAS officer.” © Zee Studios The filmmaker has once again done something similar. However, this time, he not only dodged the question but also claimed that the film is yet to make money. At a recent press conference in Lucknow, when asked if he will be sharing a part of his earnings from The Kashmir Files with the victims, Vivek replied, “Kamaai hogi tab baat karenge abhi kamaai ki stithi toh hai. (We’ll talk once the money makes money. Currently, it seems like the film will earn some money.)” The journalist then retorted, “Kamaai toh bahut ho rahi hai…(The movie is making a lot of money.)” Vivek interrupted him by saying, “Aapko aisa lag raha hai woh galatfahmi hai aapki. (You are mistaken. It is not true.)” Take a look at the video clip from the press conference below: हालांकि मैं बिल्कुल नहीं चाहता कि डायरेक्टर साब की कमाई उनसे लेकर कश्मीरी पंडितों को दी जाए। पर इस सवाल का जैसा जवाब उन्होंने दिया है वो उनकी और उनके इरादों की पोल खोलता है।pic.twitter.com/Je5HfJTC7D — MANJUL (@MANJULtoons) March 22, 2022 While Vivek Agnihotri claims the film is yet to make money, The Kashmir Files has collected an unprecedented Rs 190.10 crore in just 12 days of its release. #TheKashmirFiles continues to stand tall, runs triumphantly on weekdays... The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Agnihotri is on course to hit Rs 200 crore in the next few days. The film has already collected Rs 179.85 crore in 11 days of its release. Amid the massive box office success of the film, social media is buzzing with raging debates around it. He told the media, according to Aaj Tak, “Hindus and Muslims very much belong here, and it is necessary for them to live together and they must live together. If division is taking place, it is wrong.” He further added that controversy erupting because of a film that may result in division between the two communities is not desirable and when people are living peacefully, it is not right to court a controversy with a film like The Kashmir Files. He went on to say that after watching the film, society will be divided into two sections which is not right. Those who are doing this should be questioned. © Zee Studios However, he also added that he hasn’t watched the film and will not be able to comment further on the content of the film. After delivering two blockbusters in Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Prabhas was often touted as the biggest pan-India star even bigger than the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Rajinikanth. His next release Saaho, despite receiving poor reviews and underperforming in Telugu states turned out to be a Rs 150 crore hit in Hindi belts. Naturally, a lot was expected from his latest release Radhe Shyam. It was supposed to get the audience back to theatres and end the dry spell of South Indian films in Hindi markets. © UV Creations Moreover, film’s sound designer, the Oscar winner Resul Pookutty oversold it by calling its climax even bigger than Titanic. But, nothing mattered once the film released on March 11. It received mixed to negative reviews and faced an unexpected competition in the much smaller film The Kashmir Files. Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files surprised everyone with its huge growth at the box office and turned out to be a huge hit. The hysteria around The Kashmir Files affected Radhe Shyam and the film bombed in Hindi. However, the collections in Telugu states were huge but due to poor content the film crashed from Monday onwards. According to Pinkvilla, the film collected Rs 42 crore on its opening day, Rs 25.50 crore on its day 2 and Rs 24.50 crore on its day 3. After facing a dip in collections, the film completely crashed on its day 4 with just Rs 7.50 crore. © UV Creations In four days, the film could only make Rs 99.50 crore. And over its first week, it couldn’t do much. The film barely reached the Rs 100 crore mark and couldn’t even go past Rs 125 crore. The report suggests that Prabhas’ latest film has turned out to be one of the biggest disasters of all time at the box office with losses over Rs 100 crore, a first for any Indian film. Before Radhe Shyam, the biggest disaster from Indian cinema was Ranveer Singh starrer 83 that suffered losses of Rs 80 crore, second in the list was the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bombay Velvet that lost Rs 70 crore. © UV Creations Another report in Track Tollywood stated that the losses suffered by the film are even higher than Rs 110 crore. Being one of the biggest and the most popular stars on this planet, Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t necessarily need to make a comment on any controversy to find himself dragged in it. Back in 2017, he stated this fact in a funny manner in AIB podcast and it still stands true for him. It so happened that post the release and massive success of The Kashmir Files at the box office, a section of the audience started questioning director Vivek Agnihotri about not sharing the profit he earned from the film with the Kashmiri Pandits who faced the exodus. © Shah Rukh Khan Instagram Defending the filmmaker, a journalist tweeted that Vivek Agnihotri has the right to earn profit and not share it with anyone. The journo then dragged Shah Rukh Khan into the controversy by adding that nobody asked the superstar to share his profits from his films. His tweet read, “Profit is not a bad word, India has suffered enough since independence where the narrative looked down on commercial success. @vivekagnihotri has the right to earn profit, no 1 asked Shah Rukh Khan to distribute commercial profit, so why discriminate with #TheKasmirFiles ?” Check out his tweet below: Profit is not a bad word, India has suffered enough since independence where the narrative looked down on commercial success. @vivekagnihotri has the right to earn profit, no 1 asked Shah Rukh Khan to distribute commercial profit, so why discriminate with #TheKasmirFiles ? — Pradeep Bhandari(प्रदीप भंडारी) (@pradip103) March 20, 2022 Soon after he randomly dragged Shah Rukh Khan in a controversy that has nothing to do with him, a lot of SRK fans were reminded of his quote from the AIB podcast where he talked about people using his name in a controversy he has nothing to do with. He can be heard saying in the clip, “Has my name come up in this? Because I have not said anything. I have not spoken to anyone. My name has come up? And this gentleman was standing with me. It’s interesting how before March 11, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files was an underdog and not many expected it to stand tall against the likes of Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam and Akshay Kumar starrer Bachchhan Paandey. But the unexpected and unthinkable happened as The Kashmir Files wave swept away competition at the box office left, right & center. In its opening weekend, the film outperformed Radhe Shyam and collected almost Rs 100 crore in its week one. © Zee Studios However, the best was yet to come for the Mithun Chakraborty starrer. The film recorded a solid collection in weekend two as it made Rs 70.15 crore taking its 10-day total to Rs 167.45 crore. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is in the best phase of his career with the record-breaking success of his film The Kashmir Files. The movie has become a nationwide phenomenon and its box office collection is on a rise with each passing day. While the film is nearing the Rs 100 crore mark, it won’t come as a surprise if it even hits a double century at the box office by the next week or so. © Zee Studios As Vivek Agnihotri is basking in the success of his new film, here’s a look at the filmmaker’s filmography before The Kashmir Files. He made his directorial debut with the 2005 film Chocolate starring Suniel Shetty, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Arshad Warsi, Tanushree Dutta and Sushma Reddy. © Inspired Movies Titled Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets, the film featured a chartbuster soundtrack with 'Halka Halka Sa Yeh Nasha' topping the charts and carried good buzz around it before the release. However, the film was panned by critics and flopped at the box office once people realised it was a rip-off of a cult Hollywood classic The Usual Suspects (1995). He followed it up with a sports drama Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007) starring John Abraham, Arshad Warsi and Bipasha Basu. © UTV Motion Pictures Similar to Chocolate, the movie featured a hit soundtrack with songs like Billo Rani, Halla Bol and Ishq Ka Kalma but failed at the box office and received negative reviews. In 2012, Vivek Agnihotri turned to erotica and found his first success as a filmmaker with Hate Story. Starring Paoli Dam, Gulshan Devaiah and Nikhil Dwivedi, the film was termed “Average” at the box office. © BVG Films He tried to repeat the success of Hate Story with another erotic thriller Zid in 2014 starring Mannara, Karanvir Sharma and Shraddha Das. But he wasn’t lucky the second time around in the erotic genre and delivered a dud. © Benaras Media Works In 2016, he changed gears once again and directed the political thriller Buddha In A Traffic Jam. The film starring Anupam Kher, Arunoday Singh and Mahie Gill found no takers at the box office. The critically panned film was termed a disaster by Box Office India. © Vivek Agnihotri Creates The same year he made another disaster in the romantic drama Junooniyat starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam. © T-Series And then in 2019, Vivek Agnihotri surprised everyone by delivering the first major success of his career in The Tashkent Files. The film had almost zero promotions but turned out to be a surprise box office success. The movie starred Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu Prasad, Pankaj Tripathi and Vinay Pathak among others. © Zee Studios Unlike Vivek’s previous films, The Tashkent Files received fair reviews however, a section of the audience termed it a propaganda film. The Kashmir Files has turned out to be one of the biggest success stories in recent years. The film directed by Vivek Agnihotri has been doing record-breaking business at the box office and it continues to grow with each passing day. The film is based on the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles. The film has received such an unprecedented response not just from the audience but from the politicians as well that it has been declared tax-free in several states in India. © Zee Studios Interestingly, the massive success of The Kashmir Files has led some people to recommend another political thriller Parzania that was released in 2007. 'Kashmir Files Did What Govt Couldn't Do' Mukesh Khanna Calls Out PM Modi
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files is not only a massive box office success but has also been receiving all-round acclaim from the audience, celebs and politicians alike. Recently, Mahabharat and Shaktimaan fame Mukesh Khanna watched the film and was all praise for it. Coming out of a screening of the film, he told paps that The Kashmir Files is more than a film, it depicts reality. He rated the film 10 out of 10 and went on to praise director Vivek Agnihotri and actors Darshan Kumar and Anupam Kher for their performances. © Zee Studios Khanna further slammed the government for not helping Kashmiri Pandits in 32 years of their exodus, and called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling his promise about helping Kashmiri Pandits return to their land. He said, “Yeh sarkar ki galti hai main bolunga. Kya kiya sarkar ne? Mujhe yaad hai Modi ji ne 2014 mein jab jeete they toh kaha tha ki, ‘Main Hindu Panditon ko sthapit karwaunga’. Maine us waqt kaha tha agar inhonein Kashmiri Panditon ko sthapit karwa diya na yeh superhero ban jayenge. But afsos hai aath saal aur beet chuke hai abhi yeh Kashmiri Pandit apne aap ko sharanarthi maanta hai. Sharam aani chahiye humein. (This is the government's fault I’d say. What has the government done for Kashmiri Pandits? I remember Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised after his 2014 win that he will help KPs but sadly it’s been eight years and they still consider them refugees in their own country. We should be ashamed of ourselves.)” He went on to praise Vivek Agnihotri saying he did more for Kashmiri Pandits than the government of India, “Mujhe yeh film nahin lagi main ek second apni aankhein nahin hata saka. So yeh logon ko appeal kar rahi hai. Jo sarkar nahin kar saki, Vivek Agnihotri ne karke dikhaya. This is the success. People should know about this genocide. (Not even for a second I took my eyes away from the screen while watching The Kashmir Files. The film is appealing to the audience. Vivek Agnihotri did for KPs what the government couldn’t do.)” © Zee Studios He also praised the film for showing “harsh reality” and praised Darshan Kumar calling him the best performer in the film. He also slammed mainstream Bollywood celebs for not promoting the film. Watch the full video below: The Kashmir Files stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi. Days before the release of The Kashmir Files, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri claimed that Kapil Sharma refused to promote his film on his show because it 'lacked big stars'. Kapil had then responded to the controversy saying one shouldn’t believe in a one-sided story. But the trolling didn’t stop. A section of the audience called for a boycott of The Kapil Sharma Show and even dragged producer Salman Khan into the controversy. Amidst the controversy, The Kashmir Files released and rocked the box office. © Sony TV For the post-release promotion, Vivek Agnihotri along with Anupam Kher appeared on Times Now and during the conversation, Kher clarified that he was invited by the makers of The Kapil Sharma Show but he refused since their film’s subject was not in sync with a comedy show. However, the clip that Kapil posted was only 46 seconds long whereas the actual clip about the controversy was over a minute long. In the clip posted by Kapil, Anupam can be heard saying, “To be very honest I must say it here I was called to be on the show. Maine Harman, jo mere manager hai, usko kaha tha ki ‘Ye film bari serious hai, main isme nahi ja sakta hun (I had told Harman, my manager, 'This film is very serious, I can't go on the show)'. So I want to put my point over here. It happened around two months ago that I was told 'Aap aa jaiye (Please come)'. I have been on the show a few times and it's a funny show. It's very difficult to do a funny show and he does it very well. I don't think Kapil has any malice towards us or towards the film.” In the longer clip, Anupam also adds that the reason given to Vivek was the one he mentioned on Twitter that they weren’t invited to the comedy show because their film lacked big stars. Vivek then added that this was the official reason given to him by The Kashmir Files producer Zee Studios. Since Kapil posted only the shorter clip while thanking Anupam Kher for his clarification, the veteran actor responded by asking him to not share the “half truth”. Anupam Kher replied, “Dear @KapilSharmaK9 ! I wish you had posted the full video and not the half truth. The entire world is celebrating, you also celebrate tonight. Love and prayers always!” © Colors TV Check out his tweet below: Dear @KapilSharmaK9 ! I wish you had posted the full video and not the half truth. Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files is continuing its record-breaking box office run and has turned out to be a huge success. Amid The Kashmir Files success, Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut and other people on social media had called out Bollywood celebs for not talking about the film or congratulating the makers. © Zee Studios However, in one of her recent tweets, actress Swara Bhasker took a dig at Vivek Agnihotri and wrote, “If you want someone to congratulate you for the ‘success’ of your efforts.. maybe don’t spend the last five years sh*tting on their heads.. #justsaying”. Many asked her to watch the film to understand what genocide is. While there were others who called her out for her double standards as they shared screenshots of her tweets praising the IMDb rating of her show Rasbhari and mocking the rating of The Kashmir Files. © Zee Studios One user wrote, “Rasbhari- You cannot fake IMDB ratings Kashmir Files- IMDB ratings are Fake If you still don't believe.. Another user wrote, “Reviews and Ratings do not matter when someone dares to show the uncomfortable and unadulterated truth for the first time. Before the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kangana Ranaut had slammed Alia Bhatt and stated that 'Rs 200 crore will be burnt to ashes' once the film releases. However, when the film collected well at the box office post-release and turned out to be a hit, Kangana raised doubts about the film's box office collection. Recently, she took to Instagram and praised the unprecedented box office run of Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files starring Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher. She further slammed 'Bullydawood' accusing them of not supporting or praising the film despite its huge box office. © Kangana Ranaut Instagram Now, she has again taken to Instagram and called The Kashmir Files the “first successful and profitable Hindi film in theatres post-pandemic” and ignored previous Hindi hits like Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi. She wrote, “#TheKashmirFiles is the first successful and profitable Hindi film in theatres post pandemic…. I am telling you all this because movie mafia their chatukar and their bikau media won’t tell you … no one from the industry will applaud or appreciate it so I am doing my bit.” Check out her post below: © Kangana Ranaut Instagram Well, The Kashmir Files has turned out to be a huge hit and is probably the most profitable film of the year but it is definitely not the first successful Hindi film post-pandemic. Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif was the first successful Hindi film followed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt. Kangana had also shared a graphic of The Kashmir Files’ worldwide box office collection and wrote, “First successful film post pandemic, Isko kehte hain sachchi wali blockbuster”. Check out her story below: © Kangana Ranaut Instagram The Kashmir Files released alongside Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam and outperformed the period romantic drama by a margin.
