  1. Anthony Hopkins's best lead actor win on Sunday made him the oldest actor to get an Academy Award
  2. Fans of the horror genre can finally rejoice as the trailer of the much-awaited third installment of the Conjuring franchise dropped its trailer on Thursday (April 22). As per what we've seen in the trailer for The Conjuring 3, also known as "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It", fans of the supernatural genre are destined to be spooked by what is to come in the film. The scary trailer sees the return of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren investigating a criminal case of a suspect who claims to have committed murders while being possessed by the devil. However, the film will focus on how the Warrens will have to battle the demons on their own in order to prove the existence of the devil to the courthouse who do not believe in the supernatural. What makes things eerier for fans is that the film is inspired by a real-life case from 1981. If horror films weren't scary already, when one reads the "Based on true events", you know that most of us are not turning off the lights at night. Unlike the first two installments which were directed by James Wan, The Conjuring 3 will be directed by Michael Chaves. That does not mean that Wan has no involvement in the film as the 44-year-old Malaysian-Australian film director has co-written the latest film. The Warrens are BACK. Not demons, the Devil, or even a worldwide pandemic can stop them (even though they all took a shot.) It's been a long time coming. So excited to share this. So excited for everyone to see the movie. https://t.co/STltduIrrB — Michael Chaves (@michaelchaves) April 22, 2021 The horror film will see actors Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles as Lorraine and Ed Warren from the previous film, with John Noble and Ruairi O’Connor also joining the cast. © Twitter The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is set to release in theatres on June 4, 2021, and HBO Max subsequently, and fans just can't wait for it. 5. Abhishek Bachchan starrer, The Big Bull, is trending on social media currently. Directed by Kookie Gulati and inspired by the adventures of the controversial stockbroker Harshad Mehta, the movie has now been announced as one of the ‘Top OTT originals of the week’ by Ormax Media, an organisation that aggregates numbers of content on streaming. Abhishek Bachchan took his social media account to share this news, the post also showed that the film so far has over 5.8 million streams. The 45-year-old actor said that it was an amazing and humbling experience for him, and even thanked people for watching the film. This is so amazing and humbling!!! Thank you all so much for watching The Big Bull and for all the love. Really appreciate it. pic.twitter.com/VqHkP7mJy1 — Abhishek Bachchan (@juniorbachchan) April 14, 2021 “This is so amazing and humbling!!! Thank you all so much for watching The Big Bull and for all the love. Really appreciate it,” he tweeted. Amitabh Bachchan also wrote a blog saying, “For a Father, it is ever a moment of great pride to see their ‘progress report’ prosper and do well .. I am no different from any other Father .. the mention of such always brings emotion and tears .. particularly when there is an exhibition of immense value.” He also mentioned “that Big Bull had been seen privately within the confines of the home much earlier” but “the excitement of watching it when the entire world shall be seeing it at the same time, was different..” However, a few social media users didn't take the film well. From questioning Abhishek’s acting talent to bringing in a direct comparison with Hansal Mehta’s web series Scam 1992 starring Pratik Gandhi, the film has also faced backlash in the last couple of days. Produced by Ajay Devgn and Anand Pandit, The Big Bull stars Nikita Dutta, Ileana D’Cruz, Sohum Shah, Ram Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla as well. Abhishek Bachchan is all set to feature in the much-awaited thriller based on the life of a serial killer, Bob Biswas with Chitrangda Singh and Dasvi co-starring Yami Gautam next. 7. Abhishek Bachchan is known for his savage remarks on Twitter. He has also time and again given sassy replies to trolls. Recently, a Twitter user called Abhishek Bachchan a third-rate actor after watching his latest release The Big Bull. The actor didn’t take the comment to heart. Instead, he replied in a very positive and humorous way. A Twitter user called Abhishek Bachchan’s performance in The Big Bull extremely disappointing and also said that Pratik Gandhi and Hansal Mehta’s web series, Scam 1992 was far better than the Abhishek Bachchan film. He wrote, "As usual @juniorbachchan doesn't disappoint you with his 3rd rate so-called acting in a poorly scripted & badly filmed #TheBigBull @pratikg80 & #Scam1992 are far superior by miles." This scam is one of the biggest stock market scams in the history of scams. People are constantly comparing the TV series and the film since Abhishek Bachchan’s film was released. Many people on Twitter were concerned as to why they should watch The Big Bull if they’ve already watched Scam 1992. Abhishek Bachchan’s film The Big Bull has finally released on Disney+Hotstar on April 8 and has been getting mixed reviews since then. Here’s the trailer of the film- Abhishek Bachchan plays the lead role in the film and the movie is produced by Ajay Devgn. 8. Harshad Mehta was often referred to as the 'Big Bull' of Dalal Street or the 'Amitabh Bachchan' of the Indian stock market. It was his involvement in the scam of 1992 that exposed the loopholes in the country's banking system. We saw the story in detail when Pratik Gandhi collaborated with Hansal Mehta for the Scam 1992 web series. Just months later, we were given one more opportunity to see Harshad’s life but this time in the form of Abhishek Bachchan starring as The Big Bull. The film went on air yesterday and I certainly had high expectations because I wanted to see what new the film could bring to the table. One cannot help but compare it with last year’s Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. It’s not that Abhishek didn’t do his part well but there were shortcomings in quite a few departments. Abhishek Bachchan plays the role of Hemant Shah, a lower-middle-class Gujarati who dreams about making it big and stumbles upon stock market investing as a way to achieve everything he has been desiring for. We have Sohum Shah as Hemant’s younger brother Viren. Ileana D’Cruz plays the role of the journalist who exposes the big scam while Nikita Dutta plays the role of Hemant’s wife in the movie. We also get to see Ram Kapoor in the role of Hemant’s lawyer. If you have seen the movie, you might agree with the fact it did fall short of expectations. And here are five reasons why we feel it didn’t hit the bull’s eye. 1. Characters Lacked Depth and ConvictionAbhishek does show patches of great performance as Hemant and reminded us of his character Dhirubhai Ambani in Mani Ratnam’s Guru but he still couldn’t manage to convince us as he couldn’t sink his teeth into the character. The character lacked finesse that might have made it seem more believable. With Sohum Shah, we had high expectations because of his strong performance in Tumbbad but he fails terribly here as he didn’t get enough material in terms of the screenplay to make his character feel real. Ileana D’Cruz also looked unfit for the character of a journalist who exposed such a big scam as she was sidelined by the writer. She has a strong part to play as she is the narrator of the movie. Nikita as Hemant’s wife was only reduced to just a pretty face. View this post on Instagram 2. Nothing New To Offer And Wavered ScreenplayAs we had already seen the story in detail, we were expecting something new and fresh. The film was surely at a disadvantage because the show had raised the bar way too high. The director could have taken a different take on the entire fiasco, maybe he could have focused on the emotional journey of Hemant. There were some scenes that weren’t just required and didn’t fit in. One more thing in the screenplay and plot that we found off was Bachchan’s evil laughs in between because that was genuinely annoying. View this post on Instagram 3. Dialogues Lacked PunchThe dialogues seem half-baked and badly written. Why do we say that? For instance, there’s a scene wherein Ileana’s character and Hemant are in conversation after he gets to know that there’s someone from his team who’s exposing all his secrets to her. He asks her, ‘Vibhishan Kon Hai’. Yes, you heard it right. There’s one more dialogue in the movie that makes you feel like the writing needed to be a tad bit sharper - ‘jo baadal garajte hai, woh baraste nahi.’ Dialogues are the soul and backbone of the movie and they didn’t do justice here. The characters fell victim to overdramatized writing. 4. Too RushedYou can argue with us on the fact that it’s a movie and it wasn’t easy for the director to put in everything in just 2.5 hours. We somewhere agree too but the way it has been shown, it looks rushed and the damage could have been fixed if the age-old method of flashback story-telling was avoided as the movie missed detailing. Perhaps, had the movie followed the linear progression, it wouldn’t have looked this rushed. Also, the director could have focused a little more on his initial struggles. 5. Great Supporting Cast Left With No Scope To ActThe supporting cast consists of Saurabh Shukla, Samir Soni, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ram Kapoor and Supriya Pathak but unfortunately, they didn’t have enough screen time to make their mark and it’s sad that such talent was wasted. Final Verdict:It could have been much better if the characters didn’t fall prey to the overdramatized writing style. Have you watched the movie yet? If you have, then do you agree with us? Let us know in the comments section below. View the full article
  9. Since Tahar Rahim-starrer The Serpent has started gaining ground, people can't stop admiring the French actor for his impeccable acting skills as he plays the role of the infamous French serial killer Charles Sobhraj who was once arrested in India in the short series. Raised by Algerian parents, the 39-year-old actor is fluent in languages like English, French and Arabic. He first became popular through the BAFTA-winning French-language film A Prophet for playing the role of Malik El Djebena. Later he took on other popular roles in the US series A Looming Tower and the films like Mary Magdalene wherein he played the role of Judas, wherein he starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara. More recently, he has done films like The Mauritanian and The Kindness Of Strangers. Tahar Rahim, after earning his Baccalauréat from Lycée Condorcet of Belfort, did both Sports Computer Science programmes in his early years. He then switched to studying film at the Paul Valéry University of Montpellier. In fact, while in school, his life as a film student was documented by fellow Belfortain Cyril Mennegun which was later titled "Tahar, student", it even aired on French TV channel France 5 back in 2006. Rahim is now married to a French-Algerian actress Leïla Bekhti, whom he met whilst filming A Prophet back in 2007. Apart from his thriving acting career people also admire him for his stellar style. 10. It’s a treat for all the Piku fans as Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan will reunite for the Indian adaptation of the Hollywood film, The Intern. The remake will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Sunir Kheterpal and Deepika. It was earlier Rishi Kapoor who was supposed to play the part but after his demise, the makers roped in Amitabh for the role. Yesterday, Deepika shared the announcement with her fans and also dropped a poster of the film. She wrote, "What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-star again! Welcoming @amitabhbachchan to the Indian adaptation of #TheIntern." View this post on Instagram The Intern is a 2015 comedy-drama, which starred Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway in lead roles. The film revolved around the story of a 70-year-old man (De Niro), who becomes a senior intern at an online fashion website. Anne Hathaway, who plays the role of the company's CEO, forms an unlikely friendship with De Niro's character. The film had received mixed reviews from the audience. People are mighty upset about the fact that Bollywood is again making a remake. They have already declared it a disaster even before its release. A few social media users even went on to say that the original one too had no wow factor so there was no need to invest in a remake of this particular movie. People also bashed Bollywood for its lack of originality. © Twitter/Taran Adarsh © Twitter/Taran Adarsh View the full article

  12. If you follow Abhishek Bachchan on Twitter, you would know that the actor specialises in the art of handling trolls and replying to random questions by his inquisitive followers. Today, someone asked him on Twitter why he should watch The Big Bull when he has already watched Hansal Mehta’s The Scam 1992. Abhishek, who never fails to amaze us with his sense of humour and wit, didn’t disappoint this time either. In response to the tweet, Abhishek wrote, “I’m in it” with a winking emoji. Well, Abhishek is surely one of the most underrated actors because he is a powerful performer and deserves way more recognition than he's got. I’m in it. 🤣 — Abhishek Bachchan (@juniorbachchan) April 5, 2021 People also agreed with Abhishek and said they will watch the movie as he has been giving some mind-blowing performances of late. © Abhishek Bachchan Twitter © Abhishek Bachchan Twitter The Big Bull tells the story of a stockbroker named Hemant Shah and is inspired by Harshad Mehta’s life. When the trailer was released, people drew comparisons between Pratik Gandhi and Abhishek Bachchan and also went on to say that they might not watch it as they already know the story. Earlier in an interview, The Big Bull director Kookie Gulati called the comparisons “unfair.” He told PTI that he, “hope(s) people do give me a chance, watch the film and realize they are two completely different projects. I am hoping our film also does as well as their series but if someone wants to compare, they’re welcome to. Once you see the film you’ll understand how there’s a completely different approach.” Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Abhishek had said that he is used to being compared to others. "I don't think I'm worthy of being compared to Pratik. I think he did a fantastic job, and I wish him all the best for his future endeavours," he said. He also shared that he has watched the show and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Big Bull is slated for a streaming release on Disney+ Hotstar on April 8. View the full article

  14. The trailer for The Big Bull is finally out and Abhishek Bachchan as a stock market broker seems like the perfect fit for the role. Loosely based on the life and times of Harshad Mehta, Abhishek Bachchan is trying to change how the stock market functions and will soon become the face of the financial market. With Abhishek as the Big Bull, Ileana D’Cruz plays the journalist who takes up the task of unmasking him. The film also stars Nikita Dutta as Abhishek’s love interest and Sohum Shah. The film also stars Ram Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles, and Mahesh Manjrekar in a special appearance. The trailer traces the story of Hemant Shah (Abhishek's character in the film) and how he planned one of the biggest scams in the history of India. Abhishek took to social media to share the trailer of The Big Bull. Abhishek wrote, "The Big Bull - Official Trailer. This was not just a scam... it was the #MotherOfAllScams! #TheBigBullTrailer out now. #TheBigBull releasing on 8th April on @disneyplushotstarvip. #DisneyPlusHotstarMultiplex (sic)." Here’s the trailer: Abhishek looks promising in the trailer and has left no stone unturned for his character to look realistic on the big screens. People are loving Abhishek as Hemant Shah as he has completely transformed into the character of the Gujarati businessman. © Youtube/Disney Hotstar © Youtube/Disney Hotstar People are also happy about the fact that they got to listen to CarryMinati’s song Yalgaar and appreciated the YouTube artist. © Youtube/Disney Hotstar As The Big Bull is loosely based on the life of Harshad Mehta, people were reminded of Pratik Gandhi’s Scam 1992. Some went on to say that the actor is irreplaceable and they can’t imagine anyone else playing the part as Pratik has done a brilliant job that no one can match up to. © Youtube/Disney Hotstar © Youtube/Disney Hotstar Well, we feel it’s unfair to compare the two as Abhishek is no less when it comes to portraying such roles; we have already seen him in Guru wherein he gave an exemplary performance. Meanwhile, in a statement, Abhishek had spoken about The Big Bull streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. He said in 2020, "There is nothing greater than the joy of being able to entertain someone through movies and great storytelling. And that’s exactly what The Big Bull will do: it will keep audiences hooked till the very end. I’m glad that the movie will launch on a platform like Disney+ Hotstar VIP where people from across the country will be able to enjoy it upon release." The Big Bull is set to be a Disney+ Hotstar release and will stream from April 8, 2021. View the full article
