  3. No, it's not Rahul Dravid's birthday, nor did he make or break any records on this day (at least not that we are aware of), but we are still here to talk about the batsman. That's the kind of respect and honour he has earned through his 15-year-long career as a key member of the Indian cricket team. They say the cricketing world might get another Rahul Dravid, the batsman, but there will never be Rahul Dravid, the human being. Humble, articulate, disciplined and yet quaint in many manners, and his interview with BCC's Karan Thapar from 1999 is the best example to support that notion. At the time of the interview, the ICC World Cup 1999 had just got over. Despite a loaded roster with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammed Azharuddin, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad in the squad, the Men in Blue could only make it to the Super Six stage. Even though Dravid had established himself as an avid Test batsman, he was criticised for not being good enough to play limited-over cricket. With his exceptional series of one successful batting innings after another during the 1999 tournament, he not only proved his critics wrong but also went on to become the highest run-scorer of the quadrennial contest despite names like Tendulkar and Brian Lara's presence in the championship. ð 26 May 1999 ð Taunton ð Sri Lanka The day Rahul Dravid hit a mammoth 145 off 129 balls at the Cricket World Cup! ð pic.twitter.com/nEenRYFyfh — Cricket World Cup (@cricketworldcup) January 11, 2019 “I always had a bit of confidence in my ability. I knew that when I get to England, the kind of conditions will suit me and I always backed myself to do well,” said a self-confident Dravid in the interview. “But to end up as the highest scorer in the World Cup, I think I did surprise myself there” spoke his meek side. This right here perfectly illustrates the juxtaposition of Dravid's personality. Successful yet grounded. Something that today's Hardik Pandyas and KL Rahuls might never understand, nor do we expect them to. Dravid goes on to talk about what the game of cricket means to him. “There was this t-shirt I saw once… and it said 'cricket is life… the rest is mere detail' and that's what it's about,” he said. Cricket is life, the rest is mere a detail. ~Rahul Dravid. — Vivek Upadhyay (@Veevaiik) November 15, 2019 He also goes on to explain how he belonged to a middle-class family and how his parents asked him to focus more on school and studies and how cricket was always second for them, but once they saw how talented their boy was, there was no looking back. A self-made man who has never boasted about his achievements yet being recognised for his hard work, Dravid has been successfully able to pass on his level of commitment to the younger generation of cricketers as the coach of the U-19 team and the India 'A' side in the past and continues to do as the Head of the National Cricket Academy now. 5. As WWE India's Twitter handle suggests, it has been 20 years of pure destruction as Paul 'Big Show' Wight made his first WWE appearance in a special Valentine's Day steel cage match between the Texas Rattlesnake 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and the company's owner, Vince McMahon. His first appearance on the show was one of the best debuts by any in-ring performer during the 'Attitude Era' as the 7 footer emerged from underneath the ring as McMahon's bodyguard and tossed Austin into the metal bars of the cage head-first. Having already wrestled in organisations like the World Wrestling Association for over a couple of years, Show had already made a name for himself. However, the fact that he had signed a deal with Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Entertainment (https://www.mensxp.com/search.html?q=WWE) was kept under the radar and nobody had a clue about the plans for the giant's huge debut. “It was such a cool impact because no one really saw it coming. No one knew that I was committed to WWE, no one expected me to show up at Valentine's Day Massacre and the way they introduced me was pretty cool,” Wight told WWE. Wrestlers tend to lose out on fan-following from time to time and need to work on their kayfabe characters regularly to be liked by the WWE Universe and stay relevant with the changing times and a regular influx of great, young talents to the main roster almost every year. But, there was something about Wight as a person that made him likable throughout. Being a heel or a babyface didn't matter to him as whatever character he used to bring to the audience, they used to welcome it with open arms. Big Show has had one of the most illustrious career with the WWE. He is a 2x WWE Champion, 1x ECW Champion, 2x World Heavyweight Champion, 3x Hardcore Champion, 1x United States Champion, 1x Intercontinental Champion, 3x WWE Tag Team Champion, and a 5x World Tag Team Champion. He also won the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy in 2015. Talking about what an amazing run he has had with the brand Show said: “I know a lot of people would think differently because I don't have enough 'wins'. It's never been about winning or losing for me, it's been about the show and the talent that I work with.”
  6. After rain and bad light forced a complete wash-out of the first session of day four of the fourth and final Border-Gavaskar Cup Test match, it was the second session that saw an early massacre of the Australian batting side which began with Mohammed Shami dismissing Pat Cummins with a ball kept low in his first over of the day. Subsequently, the wickets began to fall like dry leaves in autumn, until Australia were all out making a total of 300 runs giving India a more than comfortable lead of 322 in the first innings. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav's aggression bagged him a five-wicket-haul in his first trip Down Under. Harris and Khawaja make their way back out to the middle for the second innings... #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/24jSSHI6XP — cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) January 6, 2019 Wonderful moment when @imkuldeep18 said he was proud to take a fifer in front of his idol and in the commentary box @ShaneWarne was beaming. — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) January 6, 2019 Sydney has been unkind towards the fans of cricket in the past four days as rain and the lack of brightness have hurdled the smooth execution of the fourth Test. This may come as a blessing in disguise for the Australian side and their fans as they face a history-altering defeat at the hands of the Men in Blue, which makes it that much more heart-wrenching for the Indians. Bad light has delayed the start of play on day four at the SCG #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/MhFHdcWbmd — cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) January 5, 2019 If, in a miraculous feat, Kohli's boys do put up a victory against the Aussies, it would be for the first time ever since India as a nation began to play international cricket back in 1947, that they'd win a Test series on Australian soil. With about a day and a half left to play, especially under dense and dark Sydney clouds, the situation bullied Virat Kohli into taking a 'Do or Die' decision to let Australia take a follow on thereby creating history as he is now the first visiting captain in 20 years, to give the Aussies a follow on, on their home soil. Harris and Khawaja make their way back out to the middle for the second innings... #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/24jSSHI6XP — cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) January 6, 2019 Previously, Kohli had found himself in a similar situation back in Melbourne during the third Test, where Kohli decided against it. With the idea of giving some breathing time to his over-strained bowlers and also to put up some extra runs to gain a comfortable lead, Kohli commanded his batsmen to go ahead in the second innings and just narrowly missed out on the opportunity to break the 20-year-old Australian record.
  7. If the unfortunate exit of Portugal from the 2018 FIFA World Cup wasn't shocking enough for football fans across the world, Cristiano Ronaldo dropped another bomb on them, after it was announced that the Real Madrid star is leaving the club to join Juventus. The deal wasn't an ordinary development either. Reportedly, Cristiano Ronaldo signed a €105 million deal to join Juventus and became so rich, that he even gave Rs. 16 lakh as a tip to the hotel staff in Greece, where he was vacationing with his family. © Twitter Anyway, coming back to Ronaldo and Juventus, the reason we're talking about the two is Ronaldo's medical test with Juventus. Looks like Juventus signed this massive deal to bring onboard a Ronaldo, who is 20-year-old and not 33. Despite being 33-years-old and way older than many footballers out there, the medical report reveals that the striker's physical fitness is similar to that of a 20-year-old. Does this mean he's just a year older than Kylian Mbappe? © Twitter These statistics were calculated using his body fat, his muscular mass and speed. According to reports, Ronaldo has 7% body fat, 50% muscular mass and recorded a top speed 33.98km at the World Cup, which is said to be the fastest in the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo's physical state has been compared to a 20 year old after his Juve medical. Body fat: 7% (10-11% is avg w/pros) Muscular mass: 50% (46% is avg w/pros) Ran 33.98km in World Cup, fastest in the entire tournament — Matteo Bonetti (@TheCalcioGuy) 23 July 2018 Is it just me or is 30+ actually the new 20? Because while we are impressed with Ronaldo's physical statistics, he's not the only sportsperson with such great fitness and athleticism. We have our 'Captain Cool' MS Dhoni, who at the age of 36, defeated Hardik Pandya, who is 12 years younger than Dhoni, in a 100 meter race. We guess the younger players really need to take a lesson or two from champions like Ronaldo and Dhoni on how to ace their respective sports and up their fitness game as well. Source: The Sun
  8. While we're still on Instagram, stalking every post about Akash Ambani's unbelievably lavish engagement party, let's take a moment to talk about a star kid (who was in attendance at the party, himself)- Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan's eldest son Aryan Khan. While you may have spotted the 20-year-old on his daddy's social media or while out-and-about with his pals, this one was one hell of a sartorial outing for the guy. With just a plain, simple tuxedo, Aryan proved that he is indeed, the son of King Khan and means some serious business. © Viral Bhayani Wearing an all-blue tuxedo with black lapels, paired with a white shirt, skinny black necktie, white pocket square, Khan pulled all stops with his engagement party-appropriate outfit here. Let's not forget, the lad knew that he had to close a button while posing for the shutterbugs: a rule that a lot of his dad's contemporaries/younger counterparts aren't aware of at all. He finished the look off with a classic timepiece and a pair of black dress shoes. Clearly, Aryan aced his debut at a social gathering, that was host to the biggest stars. © Viral Bhayani But, while you may say that he opted for just a goddamn tuxedo (it's a hard-written rule of formal events), let's appreciate how he's nailed the fit of the ensemble. Plus, though the colour of the suit is a blue, its a lot electric in nature, making the guy stand out. Big ups there! © Viral Bhayani Let's also mention, how its really hard to miss the resembalance between Aryan and his father, Shah Rukh Khan, especially with the two sporting outfits from the same family- formal wear. Proving, the duo knows the knack of cleaning up well and are masters of occasion-appropriate dressing. So much so, that to be frank, this looked like Aryan's (fashionable) screen test and he looks nothing short of the next big star! © Viral Bhayani Moral: Ditch the black suit for an electric blue. You can thank us later!

  10. If you're a star kid, in all probability, much like everything in the world, even your wardrobe was served on a silver spoon to you. Or at least, stored in a damn silver cupboard. And, there's no way you resort to small-box stores, affordable labels and stuff meant for ordinary folks. But that's like speaking with no knowledge of Indian celebrity fashion. © Instagram/Ahaan Panday If the very concept of Indian celeb fashion is any indication, A-listers prefer wearing relatable, affordable and street-wear brands now. Ensuring, that even a fan in a three-tier city (with a low income), is able to cop the ensemble off the mall. There are exceptions too, but we're giving you a generic overview of course. Hence, the fact that Ahaan Panday wears some terrific pieces from affordable brands, shouldn't seem like a surprise to you. Plus, he knows how to pair them right and wear them better than most of his industry seniors. Take this outfit for reference: © Viral Bhayani Featuring a plain, simple earthy hoodie paired with solid black well-fitted cargo pants — Ahaan's pulled a very travel-friendly outfit with this one. For one, we're almost sure there isn't a T-shirt below the hoodie. Mumbai's weather is getting a little warm right now, so obviously, Ahaan wouldn't want to choke himself in the heat. Two, to co-exist in the world of holed/ripped T-shirts, Ahaan's hoodie too bears the badass detailing. © Viral Bhayani And coming to the footwear, they're off-the-rack Nike sneakers. That can be bought with just a quick visit to the mall and without a major effort involved. Show this image to a salesman and he'll be able to assist you, quick. © Viral Bhayani Clearly, while at the age of 20, Ahaan's uncle Chunky Panday was leaning towards loose T-shirts, flared trousers and clunky footwear (great, but not spiffy), his nephew is hitting a nail with his sartorial choices already.
  11. Of all the things Anil Kapoor has in abundance, his anti-ageing style tops our big wish list. And unlike most of his movie contemporaries, he's a chameleon, even off the screen — easily blending into any situation, whether it involves older/younger-looking men. He's literally that age-versatile. But this is just the starter-pack to his glorious abilities. Over time, Kapoor has religiously stood for casting trends as well — dad shoes, regular-fit trousers, fade-for-all, among a lot other moments. And unfortunately/fortunately, he's also worn things before the rest out there. Having said that, what's to notice on the 23rd of January 2018 i.e. today, is that Kapoor has now started embracing head accessories too. And while most men are still struggling with the thought of wearing hats in daily life, Anil just aced the mere concept of it. © Viral Bhayani Last evening, for a quick visit to popular salon in Mumbai, the age-defying human turned to wearing a Fedora. And while he may not have worn the best-looking one out there, he's absolutely nailed the talk of 'how does one pair it?'. Personally, a Fedora is our flag-bearer of eased out style. Of chilled, relaxed, breezy clothing. Of course, dapper ensembles would work pair great with it too, but we'd skip that discussion here. © Viral Bhayani In case of Kapoor, his rolled-up sleeves, slim-fit jeans, dad sneakers, unkempt beard and a mane's that slightly slackened (yet, with use of pomade) — looks like the perfect setting for a fedora to us. The pieces too, are supremely-classic, fit him well and aren't standing for a defining style moment here. Plus, the hat's casually resting on top of his head, not engulfing the strands in. Brilliance! © Viral Bhayani Let's also note: while for most celebrities, it's all about showing off the biggest menswear flexes, for Kapoor, it's always been about slipping into straight-out-bed gear. His straight-out-bed gear is obviously different, you see; he directly walks onto the runway in them — a certain designer's runway, that's only witness to nonchalant apparel and anything that doesn't hinder natural body movement.
  12. A 20-year-old Florida man was responsible for the large data breach at Uber Technologies Inc last year and was paid by Uber to destroy the data through a so-called ?bug bounty? program normally used to identify small code vulnerabilities, three people familiar with the events have told Reuters. Uber announced on Nov. 21 that the personal data of 57 million users, including 600,000 drivers in the United States, were stolen in a breach that occurred in October 2016, and that it paid the hacker $100,000 to destroy the information. But the company did not reveal any information about the hacker or how it paid him the money. Uber made the payment last year through a program designed to reward security researchers who report flaws in a company?s software, these people said. Uber?s bug bounty service - as such a program is known in the industry - is hosted by a company called HackerOne, which offers its platform to a number of tech companies. Reuters was unable to establish the identity of the hacker or another person who sources said helped him. Uber spokesman Matt Kallman declined to comment on the matter. Newly appointed Uber Chief Executive Dara Khosrowshahi fired two of Uber?s top security officials when he announced the breach last month, saying the incident should have been disclosed to regulators at the time it was discovered, about a year before. It remains unclear who made the final decision to authorize the payment to the hacker and to keep the breach secret, though the sources said then-CEO Travis Kalanick was aware of the breach and bug bounty payment in November of last year. Kalanick, who stepped down as Uber CEO in June, declined to comment on the matter, according to his spokesman. A payment of $100,000 through a bug bounty program would be extremely unusual, with one former HackerOne executive saying it would represent an ?all-time record.? Security professionals said rewarding a hacker who had stolen data also would be well outside the normal rules of a bounty program, where payments are typically in the $5,000 to $10,000 range. HackerOne hosts Uber?s bug bounty program but does not manage it, and plays no role in deciding whether payouts are appropriate or how large they should be. HackerOne CEO Marten Mickos said he could not discuss an individual customer?s programs. ?In all cases when a bug bounty award is processed through HackerOne, we receive identifying information of the recipient in the form of an IRS W-9 or W-8BEN form before payment of the award can be made,? he said, referring to U.S. Internal Revenue Service forms. According to two of the sources, Uber made the payment to confirm the hacker?s identity and have him sign a nondisclosure agreement to deter further wrongdoing. Uber also conducted a forensic analysis of the hacker?s machine to make sure the data had been purged, the sources said. One source described the hacker as ?living with his mom in a small home trying to help pay the bills,? adding that members of Uber?s security team did not want to pursue prosecution of an individual who did not appear to pose a further threat. The Florida hacker paid a second person for services that involved accessing GitHub, a site widely used by programmers to store their code, to obtain credentials for access to Uber data stored elsewhere, one of the sources said. GitHub said the attack did not involve a failure of its security systems. ?Our recommendation is to never store access tokens, passwords, or other authentication or encryption keys in the code,? that company said in a statement. ?SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS? Uber received an email last year from an anonymous person demanding money in exchange for user data, and the message was forwarded to the company?s bug bounty team in what was described as Uber?s routine practice for such solicitations, according to three sources familiar with the matter. Bug bounty programs are designed mainly to give security researchers an incentive to report weaknesses they uncover in a company?s software. But complicated scenarios can emerge when dealing with hackers who obtain information illegally or seek a ransom. Some companies choose not to report more aggressive intrusions to authorities on the grounds that it can be easier and more effective to negotiate directly with hackers in order to limit any harm to customers. Uber?s $100,000 payout and silence on the matter at the time was extraordinary under such a program, according to Luta Security founder Katie Moussouris, a former HackerOne executive. ?If it had been a legitimate bug bounty, it would have been ideal for everyone involved to shout it from the rooftops,? Moussouris said. Uber?s failure to report the breach to regulators, even though it may have felt it had dealt with the problem, was an error, according to people inside and outside the company who spoke to Reuters. ?The creation of a bug bounty program doesn?t allow Uber, their bounty service provider, or any other company the ability to decide that breach notification laws don?t apply to them,? Moussouris said. Uber fired its chief security officer, Joe Sullivan, and a deputy, attorney Craig Clark, over their roles in the incident. ?None of this should have happened, and I will not make excuses for it,? Khosrowshahi, said in a blog post announcing the hack last month. Clark worked directly for Sullivan but also reported to Uber?s legal and privacy team, according to three people familiar with the arrangement. It is unclear whether Clark informed Uber?s legal department, which typically handled disclosure issues. Sullivan and Clark did not respond to requests for comment. In an August interview with Reuters, Sullivan, a former prosecutor and Facebook Inc security chief, said he integrated security engineers and developers at Uber ?with our lawyers and our public policy team who know what regulators care about.? Last week, three more top managers in Uber?s security unit resigned. One of them, physical security chief Jeff Jones, later told others he would have left anyway, sources told Reuters. Another of the three, senior security engineer Prithvi Rai, later agreed to stay in a new role.
  13. It's been 17 years since an Indian was crowned Miss World, with the last being Priyanka Chopra in 2000. But last Friday, 20-year-old Manushi Chhillar broke that streak, making Indians everywhere proud. She was crowned Miss World in China, out of a pool of 121 extraordinary women. She is the sixth Indian woman to do so, thereby tying India with Venezuela as the country that has produced the most beauty queens. Her Journey © Reuters Manushi is from Haryana and says it has always been her dream to represent India on an international platform. “As a kid, I always wanted to participate in the competition but I never knew I would make it this far,” she says, adding that it was a journey she would never forget. She was born to two brilliant parents, which may help account for her stellar academic career. Her father is Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, a scientist at India's Defense Research and Development Organization while her mother, Dr. Neelam Chhillar, is head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences. Although Manushi was born in Rohtak, she studied in St. Thomas School in Delhi, which she feels gave her a much-needed dose of confidence. After school, she attended the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat, in hopes of becoming a cardiac surgeon (she is currently in her third year). Medicine and beauty pageants may not seem to go together, but Manushi says her medical training helped her prepare for the rigors of the Miss World competition: “When you are studying medicine, you are learning how to deal with people and you understand why they act the way they do." She describes herself as a nerd, but there's much more to her personality. She is also a poet, a painter and a trained Kuchipudi dancer. Her mother introduced her to dance at a young age, where she learned to love the stage. According to Manushi, “I was always focused on my studies and wanted to be a doctor, but I would also dream of being at a beauty pageant at least once in my life.” This was considerably complicated for her, considering her family background. Nobody in her family had ever considered the entertainment or modelling industry to be a viable career: she was the first in the family. When she found out that they were holding auditions for Miss India, she didn't let her medical career slide – she fit workout sessions and pageant training sessions in between classes. Her dedication and hard work explains the trajectory of her journey from Haryana to last June (when she was crowned the Femina Miss India World) and, of course, to her Miss World win. Her Ethos © BCCL 'Manushi' means humanity. The new Miss World says that her parents believed that she would change the world someday, and she's already started! The proof of her conviction is that she didn't just win Miss World: she also won the Head to Head challenge and the 'Beauty with a Purpose' title. “Since her childhood,” says her aunt, “she liked playing with dolls and dressing up. But she also wanted to serve the people. Even though she has become Miss World she will go on to complete her medical studies.” Besides her surgeon aspirations, Manushi is dedicated to helping women and girls through her 'Project Shakti', which is an initiative to empower poor rural women and help them earn their livelihoods. She has also visited about twenty villages in an effort to spread awareness on hygiene, a cause that is very dear to her heart. She estimates that she has managed to make a difference in about five thousand women's lives through her efforts. Her motto in life – which has been exemplified in her life thus far - is "When you cease to dream, you cease to live.” These dreams seem to extend beyond the typical Bollywood aspirants. When asked whether she would strive to emulate her predecessors - Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra- Manushi said: “I feel that Miss India is a stepping stone for anything you want to do, not just Bollywood.” Her Inspiration © Facebook It was easy to predict Manushi's win, because of her stellar answer during the Q&A final round. When asked “Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?” she replied, “A mother. I think a mother deserves the highest respect and when you talk about salary it's not always about cash but I feel it's the love and respect that you give to someone. My mother has always been the biggest inspiration in my life. All mothers sacrifice so much for their kids.” She cited her mother as her best friend during the Head to Head challenge, too, saying that she was thrilled to be compared to her mother. Like most desi girls, it's clear that family ties are very important to her. (All five members of her family were present when she won the Miss World title, clapping and cheering her on.) But she says she will never tell them about the dates she goes on! Her Routine © Facebook Manushi follows a carefully designed regime in order to keep her body svelte and in good health, which comes as no surprise. She eats plenty of lentils, quinoa, oatmeal, and sautéed vegetables, and does yoga with her personal trainer. She also makes sure to drink 3 litres of water a day and switches her mobile phone off 2 hours before going to bed. Eating breakfast every day is a must, says her nutritionist. She eats regular meals and uses smaller plates in order to avoid temptation. The Girl Behind the Crown © BCCL When you watch Manushi glide down the pageant stage, she looks so regal and confident that she appears older. But in interviews, you see a spunky girl fresh out of her teens, who describes cheese and chocolate as her guilty pleasures. Ask her about the worst pickup line she's ever heard, and she says, “An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but I'll give up on apples if the doctor is you.” What would she do if she was a guy? She says, “I would hit on Manushi Chhillar.” Clearly, the girl doesn't lack in humour! When Shashi Tharoor cracked a joke about demonetization at her expense, she took it with good grace, saying there was “chill” within Chhillar. Manushi's idea of celebration is to have dinner with her family and close friends, which is something she hasn't done in a while now. She also loves shopping for shoes, Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and binge-watching Game of Thrones. However, all TV binges will have to wait, because she doesn't even have the time to get a solid 8 hours of sleep a night! Here's hoping she has time to enjoy her success. As Priyanka Chopra tweeted to her young successor: “cherish and learn, and most importantly enjoy it. Bravo.”
