Russia announced a war on Ukraine on 24th February 2022 sending in troops of Russian soldiers as they bombed parts of Kyiv and started to disrupt the lives of many Ukrainians - soldiers and civilians, alike. In these 2 months, countless lives have been lost and cities uprooted. While many countries have outrightly condemned Russia’s actions, several others have chosen to abstain from taking a stand. But among those who have chosen to look at the bigger picture and come together for a cause as worthy as saving Ukraine, is the legendary band Pink Floyd. Here is the official video for 'Hey Hey Rise Up', Pink Floyd’s new Ukraine fundraiser feat Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Boombox. Stream / download from midnight. https://t.co/4U3P3WAQOZ — Pink Floyd (@pinkfloyd) April 7, 2022 A step to shake people who had gotten comfortably numb during this situation of a crisis, Pink Floyd has decided to release its music 28 years after their last single, as a protest song against the Ukraine war. View this post on Instagram‘Hey Hey, Rise Up!’ features David Gilmour and Nick Mason alongside long-time Floyd bassist Guy Pratt and Nitin Sawhney on the keys, who hadn’t played together in years. Gilmour shared that the song is a show of, “anger at a superpower invading a peaceful nation", but at the same time, it is also a call “for peace”. Inspiration struck when Gilmour saw Khlyvnyuk's Instagram feed, where a video showed Khlyvnyuk dressed in tactical gear with a rifle on his shoulder, singing "Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow," a song that had become a rallying cry during the first world war. Leave it to Floyd to get the message out for Ukraine, I hope it helps the people of Ukraine. — Ron Heller (@RonaldHeller17) April 7, 2022 Gilmour told BBC 6, "It just struck me that, as it is a capella, one could turn this into a beautiful song.” He managed to track down Khlyvnyuk who was in a hospital bed with a tiny quarter-inch piece of shrapnel pierced in his cheek and decided to come up with this song. Moreover, the band also removed all its works from 1987 onward and all of Gilmour’s solo recordings from all digital music providers in Russia and Belarus. In a post shared by Gilmour on his social media, it was mentioned how this was done, “to stand with the world in strongly condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.” Awesome, brilliant that the best Rock Band stands with the Ukrainians. — Dennis_G6YBC (@Dennis_G6YBC) April 7, 2022I can't describe how beautiful it is. You are great. — volnoscioviec (@volnoscioviec) April 7, 2022 All the proceeds from the song “Hey Hey! Rise Up” will be donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, as organized by the United Nations. Absolutely beautiful! I've known this song since I was a little girl, but it has extra special meaning now. Thank you! — JustryNJ (@JustryNj) April 8, 2022 Fans on Twitter have already started raving about the new song, many of whom have been Ukrainians, thanking the band for giving meaning to a song that they’ve known since they were little. Thank you! This is perfect. It is such a sad time, but this song has power, and sends a strong message of hope. My wish is that all your fans in Russia rise up, as the song pleads, and they put a stop to this invasion. — Rosey (@Rosey_St) April 7, 2022I have goosebumps listening to this. Thank you — Angelo Burchielli (@aburchio) April 7, 2022Pink Floyd, this is why you are one of the most important bands in history. — Dean Plumley (@LB130) April 7, 2022I’ve been in love with @pinkfloyd for more than 30 years. You’re, guys, not only one of the greatest bands ever but people with great hearts! Thank you for siding with Ukrainians. We highly appreciate it! — Alexander Khara (@alexanderkhara) April 8, 2022Thank you, David, thank you, Pink Floyd! This means so much to us, especially to those who've loved you for years and decades! — Anastasiia Gavryliuk (@AnastasiiaVG_UA) April 8, 2022 One user wrote, “Thank you, David, thank you, Pink Floyd! This means so much to us, especially to those who've loved you for years and decades!” while another one commented, “Music often expresses what words alone cannot express. A call to peace. The world is with Ukraine.” Source: The Guardian View the full article

Marking the directorial debut of Hitesh Bhatia, Sharmaji Namkeen is Rishi Kapoor’s swansong, his final appearance in a film and it will surely leave you with a smile on your face by the end of it. The movie is about a retired BG Sharma (Rishi Kapoor & Paresh Rawal) who is 58-years-old and tries different things to keep himself occupied until one day he realises that cooking is his true passion. He has two sons (Suhail Nayyar & Taaruk Raina) who are often busy in their own lives leaving Sharmaji to himself. After realising his passion for cooking, Sharmaji starts leading a dual life without telling his family. But one day, his secret is revealed and what happens next forms the rest of the story. © Amazon Prime Video This is probably the first time in Hindi cinema that the main character in the film is played by two different actors. Initially, it becomes a bit confusing but once you get used to it, Sharmaji Namkeen wins you over as an audience. It is a unique coming of age story of a senior citizen and takes you through a range of emotions. The screenplay is laced with humour, drama, some over the top scenes towards the end and a lot of heart. And what works even more than its narrative is its well-written characters and seamless editing. There are certain scenes where Rishi Kapoor goes into a house and Paresh Rawal comes out and you buy it because of both the actors’ earnest performance and director Hitesh Bhatia’s execution. There is a sequence in particular where Rishi Kapoor’s character watches a video of himself on TV. Interestingly, the video features Paresh Rawal. © Amazon Prime Video Coming to the performances, if not for anything, watch this movie for Rishi Kapoor’s final act. He was such a beautiful actor and it’s hard not to fall in love with his character. Paresh Rawal had a tough task ahead as he had to not only take over from where Rishi Kapoor left but also had to be in sync with the kind of performance the legendary star was going for. And he has done a commendable job. As I mentioned above, it didn’t feel like after a point that there were two different actors playing the same role. It was good to see Juhi Chawla in a meatier role after ages. She is as good as she was back in the day and even better. Suhail Nayyar plays his character well and his equation with Rishi Kapoor/ Paresh Rawal is the highlight. Taaruk Raina provides good support and so does an always outstanding Sheeba Chaddha and a brilliant Satish Kaushik. © Amazon Prime Video Overall, Sharmaji Namkeen is a little film with a lot of heart that will leave you with a smile. P.S.: The end credits of the film features outtakes of Rishi Kapoor and it is simply heart-warming. View the full article

6 Worst Bollywood Debuts That Made Fans Question The Actor’s Capability To Act
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
As an actor, you have several jobs to perform. From your look to your acting to delivery of dialogues followed by your performance, things have to be in sync, if not perfect. So naturally, when you are making a debut, it is expected to be a good move in the direction and hope of garnering fans, not reducing them. However there are some actors whose debuts have been very questionable and here are some of the worst debuts we endured: 1. Shraddha KapoorShe is one talent house excelling in all genres, from her performance in Aashiqui to turning dancer for a movie to doing Stree, Shraddha knows what works for her. However, no one can fathom why her debut film was Teen Patti followed by doing a full fledged teenage film Luv Ka The End. The star cast was good but everything else was questionable. 2. Fardeen KhanFardeen was one of the most handsome young actors when he decided to come in movies and by the virtue of being Feroz Khan’s son, the expectations from his debut were also high. Although his debut film Prem Aggan set ‘agan’ in our hearts only! 3. Tanisha MukerjiWhen you come from a family where the lineage is so strong, the pressure to perform is heavy, we all know that. However, what we cannot understand is why out of all options, Tanisha chose to pick Ssshhh…as her debut. Even though this movie was heavily inspired by Scream, this movie just made us scream louder. 4. Sikander KherWe agree the guy has so much potential, we agree that we all loved him in Arya and look forward to watching him more. However, we cannot understand why he chose this as his debut film! 5. Zayed KhanFollowing the footsteps of his cousin was another hunk from the same family who chose to make Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne as his debut film, opposite Esha Deol. The movie was a very confusing watch and while we loved Zayed, his choice of movies have been questionable. 6. Esha DeolWhen Hema Malini’s daughter decided to join the industry, the buzz was crazy around her. However, all the hype turned into a big question mark when she chose Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche as her debut, a movie as forgetful as the performances. View the full article -

After being dropped from the India’s Test team, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha has made some shocking revelations. From exposing BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s false promise to revealing the brutal advice given by head coach Rahul Dravid, the 37-year-old keeper’s revelations have left cricket fans speechless. View this post on InstagramHowever, the most disturbing revelation has been the texts he received from a ‘so-called respected journalist', who tried to force him to do an exclusive interview with him and after he ignored him, he reacted rudely and even threatened the veteran cricketer. After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone. pic.twitter.com/woVyq1sOZX — Wriddhiman Saha (@Wriddhipops) February 19, 2022 Sharing the screenshot of the conversation he had with this journalist, Saha tweeted: “After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.” View this post on InstagramTaken aback by Saha’s shocking revelation, fans and cricket experts have reacted strongly and even demanded the cricketer to reveal the identity of this ‘respected’ person’ who misbehaved with one of the treasures of the country. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has also expressed his shock at the journalist's misbehaviour. While he was shocked, he wasn’t surprised at all because according to him it was something that had been happening too frequently with Team India. Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that's happening too frequently with #TeamIndia. Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS https://t.co/gaRyfYVCrs — Ravi Shastri (@RaviShastriOfc) February 20, 2022 “Shocking a player being threatened by a journo. Blatant position abuse. Something that's happening too frequently with #TeamIndia,” Shastri wrote, quote-tweeting Saha’s tweet. © Twitter Ravi Shastri The former all-rounder, whose coaching tenure with Team India ended last year, urged the BCCI chief Ganguly to find out and expose the identity of this person, who thought he had the right to mess with a player like Saha, who is an ‘ultimate team man’. View this post on Instagram“Time for the BCCI PREZ to dive in. Find out who the person is in the interest of every cricketer. This is serious coming from ultimate team man WS,” he concluded. Saha’s mind-numbing revelations have come after he was axed from the red-ball squad. Till December 2020, he was India’s first-choice wicket-keeper. He played in the series opener ahead of Rishabh Pant but things changed after that Day-Night Test in Adelaide. View this post on InstagramAfter being cleaned up for 36 runs in the second innings, Virat Kohli’s men suffered a humiliating defeat and as a result Saha was dropped on the bench. Pant grabbed the opportunity with both hands and emerged as India’s most-successful batter and guided them to a historic Test series win. Since then Saha has played only in Pant’s absence. In terms of age, Saha was the senior-most player in the squad and the selectors have decided to look beyond him and they can’t be faulted for that. View this post on Instagram However, a journalist threatening a player for not agreeing to give him an exclusive interview is pretty shocking. Being the head of Indian cricket, the whole country is looking up to Ganguly. He needs to act and expose the identity of the person. View the full article

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is quite animated, he is someone who wears his heart on his sleeve. We all know that. There are countless people who love the passion with which he plays his cricket. And, at the same time, there are several people who don’t like him showing too much aggression on the field and being in the face of the opposition all the time. As much as his batting, Kohli keeps making headlines for his on-field antics from time to time. Being the start player that he is, everything that he does on the field becomes a huge talking point. His remarks in the stump mic on the Day 3 of the Cape Town Test have left people divided on social media, with some justifying his comments and others ridiculing it as ‘unacceptable behaviour’. Former cricketers from across the globe have described Kohli’s behaviour as immature and slammed him for attacking the official broadcasters. Going a step ahead than everybody else, former England captain Michael Vaughan has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to intervene and take strict action against India's Test skipper. Speaking on Fox Sports, the England legend opined that under no circumstances a player can be allowed to behave in the manner that the Indian leader did and go unpunished. He urged the world cricket governing council to take the matter in its hands and hand him a severe punishment in order to teach him a lesson for life. View this post on Instagram “You can't act like that whether you're frustrated or not. We all have our moments on the field where we think something is going against you. You absolutely have the right to feel frustrated as you're a human being. But when you act like that as a captain and a leader of our game, the ICC have to step in. They can't allow that to happen. He needs to be fined.. potentially be suspended,” Vaughan said on Fox Cricket. “Decisions go with you, they go against you, that didn't go the way they think it should have gone. Virat Kohli is a legend of the game, but that's not the way to act, that is not the way to act in a game of Test match cricket. The ICC have to stamp this down, they have to stamp down on the Indian side, you can't get away with talking down the stump microphone like Ravi Ashwin has done and the Indian captain has done,” he further added. Kohli and Indian players on the stump mic #SAvIND pic.twitter.com/fXs6x8RFtD — Xolani (@ThatXolani) January 13, 2022 Kohli’s reaction came after a controversial DRS call that gave South Africa skipper Dean Elgar an early reprieve off Ravichandran Ashiwn. Not just the Indian skipper, several other players, including Ashwin and KL Rahul, lost their cool as well and openly accused the official broadcasters of rigging the ball-tracking technology and their comments were caught on the stump mic. Several Indian players are most likely to be reprimanded by the match referee for how they behaved throughout this series finale. Given that it was a bi-lateral series, it would be a huge surprise if the ICC takes the matter in its own hands. View the full article
