  1. Indian parents are a different league altogether and I bet you'd agree with me. If you haven't had a 'chappal' swung at you, have you even had a memorable childhood? From being savage to making sure you're the laughing stock of the family, Indian parents are a league apart and this Indian guy's tweet is stated testimony. via GIPHY Siddhu, a Twitter user (@cheekyponnama), talked about how his mother liked keeping his picture in her wallet, all the time. The lad got mighty emotional when he saw his picture in her wallet and went on to Tweet about it. But what he didn't expect was the answer that came as a surprise to him and really put him in his place with his mother's savage comeback. My mum has a photo of me in her wallet and not of my siblings. She said whenever she faces an obstacle, she looks at my photo and the problem disappears. I felt really touched till she said, she also tells herself, “what other problem can be bigger than this one?” ð¥ð¥ð¥ — Siddhu (@cheekyponnama) 17 February 2019 He realised what she was trying to say only when she finished her sentence. Ouch! 'She said whenever she faces an obstacle, she looks at my photo and the problem disappears,' he wrote. 'I felt really touched till she said, she also tells herself, “what other problem can be bigger than this one?' Now do you have a clearer understanding of what Indian mothers, if not parents, are like? They definitely love adding more fuel to fire, just so they can have some fun at your expense. Siddhu's Tweet went viral and people on the internet reacted to it. Savagery of savageries! All parents in their hearts, love their children all the same. This is facts. — Diamond Wong (@diamondwong) 18 February 2019 So, the next time you get excited about something good your parents have done for you, make sure you hear out the entire story first!
  2. With all eyes on the ICC World Cup in England & Wales, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have pretty much narrowed down the squad for the mega event, slated to begin this May. While the consistent performers will be seen carrying the baton for their side, a lot of other Indian cricketers seem to have missed out. Amongst the ones who missed out, young Shreyas Iyer, too, failed to make the cut. But, the 24-year-old has neither allowed it to affect his mindset, nor his performance on the field. In fact, if we were to go by his recent outing with the willow, Shreyas appears to be making a strong statement which is bound to garner the attention of Indian selectors. Shreyas Iyer was the no. 4 we were looking for but @BCCI didn't give him much chance as compared to Rahane, Manish, Rayudu otherwise he'd in WC squad. — Ovi (@Abhijit_19) February 21, 2019 Unfazed by the snub, Shreyas took the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by storm after a blistering innings during Mumbai's opening match against Sikkim. The right-hander slammed a whirlwind 55-ball 147 (scoring 118 runs in boundaries). In the process, he surpassed Rishabh Pant to record the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the history of T20 cricket. Coming in to bat, with Mumbai reeling at 22/2, Shreyas stabilised the innings for his side with a pivotal 213-run partnership for the third wicket with Suryakumar Yadav (63). During his marauding knock, the Mumbai batsman smashed 15 sixes and seven boundaries, including a 35-run over off Sikkim's medium-pacer Tashi Bhalla. Highest T20 scores by Indians 147 - Shreyas Iyer for Mumbai today 128* - Rishabh Pant for Delhi Daredevils 2018 127 - M Vijay for Chennai Super Kings 2010 126* - Suresh Raina for Uttar Pradesh 2018 125 - Unmukt Chand for Delhi 2013#SyedMushtaqAliTrophy — Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) February 21, 2019 Incidentally, Shreyas' tally of 15 sixes also saw going past Murali Vijay (11) for most maximums in a T20 innings among Indian batsmen. He is now tied on the fourth spot on the overall list with none other than 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle. Thanks to the right-handed batsman's sensational knock, Mumbai reached a formidable total of 258 runs in their quota of 20 overs. In reply, Sikkim failed to get going in their run-chase. Shardul Thakur and Shams Mulani bagged two wickets apiece to ensure Sikkim could only manage 104/7 in 20 overs, losing the match by 154 runs. What a shame — Coach Ravi Shastri (@saffron_archer) February 21, 2019 Wow.. I mean in another country he would've been a established star batsman by now. Instead we have duds like Rayudu to contend till the WC. I hope for wholesome changes in batting order after WC. This team is too damn old — Romeo Rajat (@RomeoRajat2) February 21, 2019 Shreyas iyer is rare talent , he is much better than Rayudu , u r picking Rayudu just for his IPL performance where as iyer is scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket . — Coach Ravi Shastri (@saffron_archer) February 21, 2019
  3. Once a unified nation, India and Pakistan have gone on to become arch-rivals following the hurtful partition in 1947. Since then, the cross-border tensions, political differences and the prolonged issue of Kashmir have all fuelled the rivalry between the two neighbouring countries. However, despite the differences in opinion on numerous matters between India and Pakistan, the cricketers from both the countries share mutual respect and admiration. Virat Kohli was probably the first individual to praise Mohammad Amir after he returned to cricket following his match-fixing saga. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also sent a signed Team India jersey to Shahid Afridi upon his retirement from cricket. Then, Afridi struck a chord with Indian fans after showing respect to the tri-colour during an ice cricket tournament in Switzerland. But, it seems times have changed. © AP The dastardly Pulawama attack that claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF personnel has got everyone on the edge with the ties between the two nations reaching an all-time low. The suicide terror strike carried out by Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) has enraged India and its citizens who are now calling for a complete boycott of Pakistan. And, amid all the backlash, Afridi did his reputation no good after he was seen spewing venom on India during an interview on a Pakistani news channel. Lauding Pakistan PM Imran Khan's recent statements, Afridi blamed India for targeting Pakistan under the garb of the Pulwama attack without any proof. Pakistani Cricket Star @SAfridiOfficial endorsing the message of @ImranKhanPTI sent to India through a speech and saying Pakistan want friendly relations with all neighbours “Indians should behave like a well educated nation” watch tonight in #CapitalTalk on Geo News at 8 PST pic.twitter.com/2PxkesHmzq — Hamid Mir (@HamidMirPAK) February 20, 2019 "Without any proof they are putting all the blame onto Pakistan straight away. PM Imran Khan has once again spoken on this matter in a positive & clear way to explain that Pakistan wants to have good relations with not only India, but also Afghanistan, Iran & China," Afridi was heard saying on the show. In the wake of the ghastly attack, IMG Reliance recently pulled out as the main broadcaster of the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which is currently in progress. Reacting to that, Afridi once again took a dig at India by claiming that educated people don't behave in this manner. "You find out who your friends are at difficult times. What are they trying to show the world that they are educated? Educated people don't behave in such a manner," Afridi said. While the Indian government has already taken measures to isolate Pakistan, the BCCI is also mulling the idea of boycotting Pakistan at the ICC World Cup in England & Wales, later this year. Amidst all that, Afridi, rather than behaving like an ideal sports icon, has got Indian fans up in arms. 4. The Pulwama attack has shaken the country, and pulled a few raw strings that should not have been meddled with. Kashmir is a sensitive issue for the Indian subcontinent, merely because we consider it a part of us and one of our own. While some notorious elements continuously try to turn the youth of the valley against their own brethren, and often succeed in brainwashing them into believing otherwise, the mutual sense of belonging-ness and unity continues to blow strong in the valleys. © Facebook In a show of solidarity and love for the nation, its people and the armed forces, over 2,500 young men from Jammu & Kashmir turned up for army recruitment drive in Baramulla. An official spoke to ANI and said that, thousands of young Kashmiri boys turned up to serve their nation, for recruitment for 111 vacant posts in the Indian Army. Apart from earning a livelihood and protecting their families, these hopeful young men also told ANI that getting hired would also give them the opportunities to share their side of the story with the rest of the country, raise awareness and sensitise fellow Indians about the crisis in the Kashmir valley. © ANI "We cannot go outside Kashmir. This is a great opportunity for us. We wish that more vacancies are offered to us. If Kashmiri personnel will be deployed in the sensitive areas then they can talk to the people and deal with the ongoing crisis", an aspiring candidate was quoted as saying to ANI. Bilal Ahmad, army aspirant says, "We will get the chance to sustain our families and serve our nation, what else can one want?" pic.twitter.com/bmtMdYfvsk — ANI (@ANI) February 19, 2019 It must also be told that the rate of unemployment in the area is high with over 26% of youngsters between the age of 18-29 being unemployed. Economic Survey 2017 stated "unsupportive administrative and regulatory framework and lack of transparency" as the main reason behind this state of unemployment.
  5. If there is one cricketer who seems to have been there forever, it has to be Ross Taylor. The 34-year old who already held the record for most centuries and half centuries for New Zealand added another milestone under his belt. Taylor surpassed former captain, Stephen Fleming, to become the highest run scorer for New Zealand in the third ODI vs Bangladesh. The veteran batsman scored 69 runs which took him past Fleming's 8007 runs. His contribution also helped New Zealand get a clean sweep over Bangladesh in a three-match series. What amazes us the most is Taylor's determination. After being dropped and getting stripped off the captaincy, the Black Caps' batsman didn't give up. Taylor kept on hustling and fighting, letting his bat do the talking. Putting aside his pride to operate in tandem with Brendon McCullum (the man who replaced him as skipper) is a clear example of his 'country first' attitude, proving that he is a class act. In a post-match interview Ross said,“ I definitely would have taken that when I played my first match donkey's years ago. If you play long enough I guess these records come along but it's nice to set the bar for the next guy.” Twitter didn't hold back when congratulating the Kiwi's batsman and appreciated his 'Never Give Up' attitude. I don't stan for many sportspeople, but Ross Taylor is a legend and an icon and we probably don't deserve him. ððð #nzvban #rosstheboss https://t.co/WAudYpiuhZ — the dizziest of dovers (@dizzydover) February 20, 2019 Perfect. 6. Every 80s or 90s kid has seen at least one Star Wars movie if not the entire series, which although consists of a lot of chapters, is worth a session of binge-watching (other than 'Solo', do NOT watch 'Solo'). Other than the fact that the series introduced us to one of the most iconic bad guys in Darth Vader and the wisest philosopher and master period, in Yoda, the elaborate lightsaber duels between the good and the evil was a primary reason for the geeks and nerds to stay up all night in long lines just to buy the movie tickets to the George Lucas classics. The whole concept of energy swords used for melee combats or for deflecting blaster bolts has been timeless and is one of the ideal weapons to have during the time of an apocalypse (personal choice). © AP Anyhow, it appears as if the Frenchmen responsible for sports in the country are bigger Star War geeks than the rest of the world took them to be. A nation of sword-fighting and fencing fans, France has officially recognised lightsaber dueling as a real sport. Believe it or not, the French Fencing Federation took this decision to encourage the younger generation to participate in the game instead of staying glued to their mobile phones and video game consoles. © AP “With young people today, it's a real public health issue,” federation secretary general Serge Aubailly told AP. “They don't do any sport and only exercise with their thumbs. It's becoming difficult to (persuade them to) do a sport that has no connection with getting out of the sofa and playing with one's thumbs.” Here are the two basic rules of lightsaber dueling: Rule 1: Before each blow, the lightsaber's tip must be brought backwards. Rule 2: Fighters have the option of waving the whole lightsaber, from tip to hilt, behind them or to their sides. That's not all. The Jedi-Sith dueling inspired 'sport' can soon make an appearance at the Olympics in the coming years as well. © AP ”We wanted it to be safe, we wanted it to be umpired and, most of all, we wanted it to produce something visual that looks like the movies, because that is what people expect,” tournament organiser Michel Ortiz told AP in Paris. Get your passports ready guys. Time to move to France. May the Force be with you.
  7. A great leader, fantastic centre-back and undisputed talisman at Santiago Bernabeu, Sergio Ramos has been one of the vital cogs in Real Madrid's set-up over the years. His popularity is second to none which also explains the hefty paycheck he draws every week. But, while the Madridistas hail him as their true leader, Ramos has a side which, every now and then, overshadows his performance. Deliberate or not, his arm-tackle against Mohammed Salah during the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool last season had caused a huge backlash amongst the football fans across the globe. For the Madrid skipper, it seems, winning - not just the game, but every single tackle - is everything. And, those who've seen him in action would agree that the Spaniard doesn't mind getting his hands a little dirty, quite literally on many occasions. © Reuters And, Los Blancos' recent La Liga encounter against Girona was a testimony to that. If Madrid' 1-2 loss to the least-favoured club came as a surprise, Ramos' red card in the 90th minute further spelt their doom. The Madrid centre-back was given a yellow card for a handball inside the box which resulted in a penalty for the visitors in the 64th minute. After 20 minutes of levelling the game, Girona got in front through a beautiful strike from Portu. And, with the hosts trailing by a goal, the home fans were handed another blow in the 90th minute when Ramos was handed his second yellow card for kicking Girona's Cristhian Stuani in another bad and unwanted foul. © Reuters Owing to his red card, Ramos etched his name in the history books for a La Liga record that he wouldn't be able to forget anytime soon. Thanks to his latest antics, Ramos now has 20 red cards to his name in the Spanish league - most by any footballer in La Liga. He also became the only player for Real Madrid to receive 25 red cards in his career so far. If his red card left Real Madrid frustrated, Ramos' comments after the game further showed his flawed understanding of the game. "Looking at the result, I'd be lying if I said I didn't force, it is not to underestimate the opponent nor to think that the series is over, but in football, you have to make tough decisions," the Real Madrid captain said. 8. In what turned out to be a nerve-wreaking encounter, Melbourne Renegades clinched their first Big Bash League (BBL) title after getting the better of their city rivals Stars in the summit clash on 17th February. In the first ever all-Mebourne BBL final, Renegades found themselves in a spot of bother after posting a mediocre total of 145 runs. To make matters worse, a 93-run opening partnership between Ben Dunk (57) and Marcus Stoinis (39) had the Stars heavily favoured until their incredible implosion that saw them losing seven wickets for just 19 runs. For the better part of the game, the BBL trophy for the eighth edition looked to be heading towards the green side of the city. But, the Glenn Maxwell-led side finished their innings at 132/7, losing the match and title by 13 runs. While the Renegades pulled off a heist in the final, it was their captain Aaron Finch who stole the limelight. Straight to the pool room. #GETONRED #BBL08 pic.twitter.com/o4hgWpu1Yh — Melbourne Renegades (@RenegadesBBL) 17 February 2019 The Renegades captain became the topic of great discussion on the social media after he was caught destroying a chair with his bat, on his way to the dressing room. Asked to bat first, the Renegades fans were surely delighted to see skipper Finch in ominous touch early in the innings. Despite the loss of two early wickets, Finch was taking on the bowlers and timing the ball to perfection. He had smashed two boundaries and was looking dangerous when luck eluded the Renegades skipper. Cameron White was on the strike against Stars' Jackson Bird when the former played a straight drive that deflected off the bowler's boot and crashed onto the stumps, catching Finch - who was at the non-striker's end - short at the crease. That's a shame. He looked in unbelievable touch, like the Aaron Finch of old today. You've got to be kidding,” he added. Adam Gilchrist agreed it was “stiff”. If the dismissal caught everyone's attention, Finch's antics - moments later - on the way back to the dressing room became the talking point on social media. Walking back in disappointment, Finch swung and smashed a plastic chair. His anger boiled over and he took his frustrations out on the nearest thing he could once he had walked off the ground. His antics instigated all sorts of reactions on social media. While some came to his support, others slammed him for his theatrics. 10. When it comes to Twitter, sometimes people just can't seem to keep their hands off their phones (cough *Kapil Sharma*). And now, it seems like Riteish Deshmukh has caught the same virus. After a hilarious twitter banter with Ajay Devgn, Riteish has now diverted his attention towards Ranveer Singh and his quirky fashion sense, as the 'Total Dhamaal' actor took to Twitter to troll the 'Gully Boy' star. Ranveer's out of the box fashion sense has often proved to be a bait to lure memes, and Riteish didn't shy away from making one. He shared a picture from the sets of 'Dil Dhadakne Do' where Ranveer is dressed in subtle, neutral coloured shirt and pants. 11. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been adversely affected by the 14th February 2019 terror attack on the CRPF bus in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The loss of over 40 of India's finest and bravest soldiers in what is considered to be the biggest terror attack since Uri has left the Indian public in sorrow, sympathetic and irate. Amidst such times of chaos and upheavals, one must show as much support to the victims as they can. The idea of promoting yourself or your team should probably be the last thought in your head right now and the people seemed to feel the same way when they set the Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, straight. While the world was mourning on the huge tragedy that took place on Valentine's Day, Virat Kohli decided to put out a couple of tweets asking his fans (essentially the entire nation), to vote for the Indian sports honours for the best cricket club and the best fan club of the year. While celebrities from all over the country including Priyanka Chopra came out to empathise with the families of the martyred jawans and the CRPF soldiers that were injured in the blast, Kohli's tweet felt ignorant, unsympathetic and really just out of place. Absolutely shocked by the attack in #Pulwama...Hate is NEVER the answer!!! Strength to the families of the martyred jawans and the CRPF soldiers injured in the attack. — PRIYANKA (@priyankachopra) February 14, 2019 My deepest thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the Pulwama attacks and their families. — Karan Johar (@karanjohar) February 14, 2019 There's no doubt that if the situation was even remotely different from what it is right now, Kohli's Twitter fans, all of 28.2 million, would have hopped onto the bandwagon to vote for their favourite cricket club and fan club in a instant as their leader had asked of them. But in the wake of something as devastating as the Jaish-e-Mohammed attack on J&K, the followers had to hold the torch for the Indian skipper to see things clearly, as they let Kohli know all about their displeasure with his tweets: This is what the cricketer had uploaded but later removed after getting a lot of flak: And here's how his agitated fans responded: Virat aapke team sea jo bhi aapka Social Media Account handle karta hai Wo Bahut Bada Pagal hai — Raja â¤ï¸ (@RaghurajPrSingh) February 14, 2019 Promotional tweet regarding sports honor awards voting. 12. If football matches are capable of enticing fans, the players' transfers dictate the fate of clubs who're in contention to secure the signatures of their valued assets. At the same time, the transfer windows can turn out to be a heartbreak for some fans, while it can excite others with new joinees. But, amidst all the hullabaloo, a lot of money is splurged by the football clubs to attract their potential targets which further equates to top wages and big-buck signings. While the summer transfer window has come to an end, there is no stopping the high-profile moves in club football. After luring Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid last summer, Serie A giants Juventus have now managed to steal dynamic midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal. Massimiliano Allegri's side will now be bolstered with the presence of the Gunners star at the Turin-based club. © Reuters The 28-year-old signed a four-year deal with Serie A champions for a staggering 7.8 million dollars per season. In the process, he became the highest paid British Footballer of all time (in terms of basic salary). The Zebras tried really hard to make Ramsey their prey in the January window, but couldn't succeed then. Fortunately, all their hard-work to didn't go to waste as they finally caught hold of him by the end. As per the pre-contract signed by former Arsenal player, he would be joining Juventus in July, after the completion of his contract with The Gunners. The British international hasn't cost Juventus anything because his contract with Arsenal finishes in June. But still, 'as a result of the registration of the player, Juventus will have to pay a wholesome amount of 3.7 million euros ($4.1 million) by July 10.' © Reuters Though the English midfielder was found nowhere near his game this season, he managed to provide mere 3 assists and could find the net just twice in his 22 appearances for the club. Despite all the stats, Ramsey is still considered one of the best midfielders in the PL. And joining forces with Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira, could certainly produce some majestic performances for The White-Blacks. Looking at the current situation of the Unai Emery's Arsenal, Ramsey's move to the Serie A club seems like the best option for the three-time FA Cup winner. Let's hope that signing proves to be an asset for the star-studded Juventus line-up and helps them bag more trophies.

The much-awaited Roshan biopic is based on the life of maths genius, Anand Kumar, who runs the famous super 30 program for IIT aspirants in Patna. All the Hrithik fans are truly geared up to watch him play Anand's character. © Viacom18 Motion Pictures The film though has a slight twist of faith, in a good, reckoning way though! The film ran in to trouble recently when director Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual misconduct by two women and became a part of the #MeToo movement. Soon after, the makers of the film decided to ask him to leave the project in order to preserve the sanctity of the film. Since then, the movie does not seem to have a director and its release has been delayed. Earlier it was supposed to release on the 25th of January but now it's scheduled to release on the 26th of July. © Twitter As soon as Vikas was shown the exit door, Anurag Kashyap, Vikas's former partner from now dissolved Phantom Films took over the project and is overseeing the post production of the film. In fact, Shibasish Sarkar, group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, revealed that the film will have no directorial credit whatsoever. "Vikas is not associated with the edit and post-production. There will be no director credit for anyone. As a producer, after substantial investment of time, money and the efforts of all our technicians and talent, it is our responsibility to complete the film with the best possible resources available to us. Anurag is a partner, he has edited films of other Phantom partners in the past. He agreed to take this responsibility on Reliance's request, and with a professional and commercial understanding. Also, it has been agreed that he will not take any credit," the CEO told a popular publication. The film is being produced by Reliance Entertainment and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. © Twitter After the #MeToo movement hit Bollywood, a number of celebrities and producers, directors, and musicians were brought into the limelight on grounds of sexual misconduct and harassment. Vikas Bahl being one of them has been accused of the same by two women, one of them being the renowned actress Kangana Ranaut and the makers will think about putting his name back in the credit role if he gets a court order clearing his name out of it. © Viacom 18 Motion Pictueres By all means, the step taken towards maintaining the sanctity of the movement is quite praiseworthy and we hope more people from the film industry take similar steps toward the perpetrators.
  14. Last November, the Indian cricket team embarked on a long journey away from home that included gruelling tours of Australia and New Zealand. During that time, India drew the Twenty20 International (T20I) series before winning the Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Australia. And then, they travelled to New Zealand where they demolished the hosts in ODIs before stuttering in the T20Is. While their overseas tour has come to an end, India, now, await their next challenge which, once again, involves the Australian brigade. With revenge on their mind, the Aussie team will travel to India for two T20Is and five ODIs, slated to begin from 24th February. But, after spending three months on the road, the Indian cricketers finally had a breather as the T20I series against Australia is still more than a week away. Several Indian cricketers were seen making the most of their time at home after they shared pictures and videos on the social media. From Rohit Sharma to Virat Kohli, here's how Indian cricketers are unwinding following their long overseas tour: Rohit Sharma How happily he is playing with his daughterâ¤ð! But, the 'Hitman' did find a reason to cheer for as he became the leading run-getter in the shortest format following a brilliant fifty in the second T20I in Auckland. Upon his return to India, Rohit was elated to spend time with his daughter 'Samaira'. A video of Rohit playing with his daughter was also shared on the social media. Clearly, the young spinner was happy to be home as he shared a photograph of himself in the company of his Team India mates Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal. While he did get a lot of starts, Dhawan just couldn't capitalise and convert them into big individual scores. With the Aussies coming to India this month, Dhawan will be eager to make his presence felt in a bid to win over the fans. And, that's exactly what might have been on his mind when he shared a brief video where the left-hander can be seen doing push-up on his knuckles. Virat Kohli Instagram After helping his side in gaining an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series, Kohli was rested from the last two 50-over contests and the three T20Is against New Zealand. While his team stuttered to a narrow 2-1 loss in the T20Is, Kohli was seen exploring the scenic beauty of New Zealand with wife Anushka Sharma. Early on Tuesday, the couple returned home and as soon as they landed at the Mumbai airport, the Indian captain shared a selfie of their arrival with the cricket fans on the social media. Dinesh Karthik Instagram The Indian middle-order batsman was recently slammed for his antics during India's four-run loss against New Zealand in the deciding T20I. His decision to deny Krunal Pandya a crucial single in the final over didn't go down well with the fans. Karthik did manage to hit a six off the last ball, but it wasn't good enough to take India home. But, that is now a thing of the past. The T20I series is done and dusted. And, Karthik is just happy to be back home and dig in to south Indian delicacies. The former Indian captain shut his critics with his 'Player of the Series' performance in the ODIs against Australia and then continued to play a crucial role in the middle-order against the Kiwis. On the back of some sublime performances, Dhoni has not only won over fans, but has also impressed the selectors who'll surely take note of his exploits before announcing the Indian squad for the ICC World Cup in England and Wales. But, for now, Dhoni seemed really happy to return home.
  15. Following their heavy defeats in the first two matches, the England cricket team has responded well in the ongoing third Test against West Indies at the Darren Sammy stadium in St Lucia. The visitors began well with a 277-run total in the first innings and then backed it up with a fine bowling performance that bundled West Indies out for 154 runs. The second innings saw England skipper Joe Root leading from the front, scoring an unbeaten 111 to see his side close on 325/4 - a commanding lead of 448 runs by the end of third day's play. It was Root's 16th Test hundred and for someone who had scored just 55 runs in his first five innings of the ongoing series, it was undeniably a great relief for both the England captain and his fans. © Reuters But, if his pivotal hundred aided England in the second innings, Root's on-field comments during Day 3 earned him plaudits from cricket fans across the globe. In the 44th over, during the afternoon session of play, West Indies seamer Shannon Gabriel was seen exchanging some verbal volleys with the England skipper and his batting partner Joe Denly. While it wasn't clear what the Windies paceman said to the England batsmen, Root was caught on the stump mic telling Gabriel: "Don't use that as an insult. There is nothing wrong with being gay". In his press conference, Root refused to confirm or reveal what was said to him by the West Indies pacer. "Sometimes people say things on the field they might regret, but they should stay on the field. He's a good guy who plays hard cricket and is proud to be in the position he is. The battle was a good contest, he's had a wonderful series and he should be proud. I don't want anything said in the middle to ruin what's been a good Test series for him and his team," Root said. 16. In the Premier League title race this season, Manchester City have found a potent challenger in Liverpool who are giving the defending champions a run for their money. Such has been the level of competition between the two Premier League giants that it has made the ongoing season an absolute cracker for the fans. With the tournament nearing a befitting finale, there is no margin for error for City and Liverpool as they chase the top honours. Thus, when the Pep Guardiola side squared off against Chelsea over the weekend, all eyes were on City to keep their title dreams alive. For a team that found themselves chasing Liverpool following their shock loss to Newcastle United earlier, City showed no signs of panic or lacklustre play during their rampaging 6-0 triumph against the Blues at the Etihad. While Sergio Aguero bagged yet another hat-trick of goals, Raheem Sterling scored a brace alongside Illkay Gundogan's strike to cut a sorry figure for Maurizio Sarri's side. © Reuters The Blues conceded four goals in the first 25 minutes and eventually gave away two more by the final whistle to register their worst result since 7-0 drubbing to Nottingham Forest in 1991. It was also their third straight defeat in an away game which further irked the Chelsea faithful. The result undeniably left the visitors red-faced and the travelling fans were clearly not impressed. Owing to their dismal outing, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger approached the stands where the away fans were seated and apologised for their poor show. But, one fan wasn't ready to accept Rudiger's apology. Rudiger staying to apologise to Chelsea fans. At least he cares pic.twitter.com/lmLyEprK1c — Lewis (@CarefreeLewisG) February 10, 2019 Responding to Rudiger's apology, the fan gave a mouthful to the Chelsea defender over their dreadful performance. In reply, Rudiger reportedly yelled back at the fan before exchanging heated comments with him. According to Football.London, Rudiger said: "I've come over to say sorry, stand in front of me if you've something to say". The former Roma defender climbed over the top of the barricade to speak to the fan. He then, asked the steward if he could cross the barricade to go and talk to the fan in person, though he was not allowed to do so. Later, the footballer gave his shirt to a young fan before joining back his teammates on the ground as the majority of the fans gave him applause. Following their loss, Chelsea now find themselves languishing at the sixth spot in the table. With the Champions League qualification on the line, their current position in the league has surely got their fans worried. But, the biggest problem at hand appears to be their manager Sarri who is expected to have a crucial conversation with the club's owner Roman Abramovich to discuss his future.
  17. A couple of days ago, in what can be considered as one of the most heartbreaking stories of 2019, Argentinian footballer Emiliano Sala's body was recovered from a plane wreckage after over a month since his flight went off radar somewhere over the English channel. While the striker was suspected to be dead already for a couple of months, a private rescue party was still out there looking for him relentlessly until they finally spotted the debris from the crashed plane. In the first home game ever since Sala's body was given back to his parents for a proper funeral, his previous team, Nantes FC, a French Ligue 1 team, decided to carry out one final goodbye in the biggest and the most impactful way they could. 9ï¸â£.#PlayForSala | #FCNNO pic.twitter.com/13uReHJiL0 — FC Nantes (@FCNantes) February 10, 2019 The 28-year-old's former teammates came out of the locker room wearing all black with a sticker that read 'Sala' on their backs as the crowd chanted “La la la la…, Em-il-ia-no” before a loud roar of applause rose from the benches. Members from both the teams formed a circle along with their coaching staff to mourn together at the loss of a fine footballer. Just before the match began, a large screen showed all 48 goals he scored in 133 appearances during his four-year career with the French club. Nantes also retired Sala's jersey number 9, which is the first jersey ever to be retired in the 76-year-old history of the club. 18. One Love. Who would have thought a simple phrase such as this one could hold such depth of meaning? Yet, it also finds resonance in the iconic Bob Marley song by the same name. If you don't happen to remember the lyrics to that song, you might want to go through it to understand how this universal emotion is our only hope when it comes to guiding the mankind to a better place where “one love” suffices for all. A love without judgements and reservations. One love that's selfless and where acceptance comes easy, just how it is meant to be - something Marley manages to convey so easily in not so many words. Love does not differentiate between the hearts that wants to love, and who it wants to shower that love on. Love is just the same for all of us who are willing to feel it, and give it a chance regardless of what comes in the way. (c) Meghna Sahoo Such is the story of Meghna Sahoo, a transgender woman, and her husband Basudeba Nayak who went against societal diktats and reservations, to give their love the chance it deserved. When Meghna married Basudeba in 2017, she became Odisha's first transgender woman to tie the knot. It turned into a moment of celebration for the transgender community in the state, and have them the power to hope for their own share of love in life. Meghna and Basudeba's love story began through a chance interaction on Facebook. Basudeba happened to be one of Meghna's followers of Facebook, and had found out about Meghna because of her involvement in social activism. But the possibility that she should chance upon his private messages to her, from amongst the hundreds she received regularly, is a play of fate. Recalling her first interaction with Basudeba, Meghna says that, “We had never met each other before the first time we spoke to each other of Facebook. One day when I turned on my Facebook chat after a long time, I noticed that someone named Basudeba had been messaging me everyday on Facebook. At that time he had been going through some personal issues and he was reaching out to me to seek help.” (c) BCCL This forms the premise of Meghna and Basudeba's first virtual association. She also noticed that all this time when she failed to respond to him, he would regularly drop her good morning or good night messages. For the next two years, Basudeba continued trying to speak to her at various points, but couldn't get through. Finally, when Basudeba's messages caught Meghna's attention, she responded. The messages ranged from normal greetings to even marriage proposals. At that point Meghna was already in a relationship with another guy, who said he loved her, but wouldn't make their relationship public or go out with her like regular couples do. He even had concerns that transgender women cannot become mothers and that the society wouldn't accept them. This sour experience cautioned Meghna to not take Basudeba's proposals too seriously either. However, after they began to interact more and more, she came to know about Basudeba's story. “He told me that back in 2011 his wife had eloped with her lover, leaving behind their 10-month old boy. Even after that point we would talk every now and then.” (c) Meghna Sahoo This went on for some time and then suddenly Basudeba proposed to Meghna once again for marriage. But this time Meghna didn't want to get fooled and wanted to see if Basedeba meant what said. She says, “when he proposed this time, I asked him to get his family to bring the marriage proposal to my family. But since his parents had passed away by then, he spoke to his elder brother and sister-in-law. Initially his family was against it and didn't approve of their brother getting married to a kinnar.” However, his family's concern about “log kya kahenge” didn't stop Basudeb from declaring that if he has to marry it will have to be to Meghna and no one else. “He told his family that he really liked me and wished to get married. His other concern was that another woman might mistreat his son, and he didn't want that. His other motivation was that since Meghna couldn't bear children she would be able to give his son her undivided love.” (c) OdishaTV Meghna admits that this last reason didn't hurt her as much as it should because she thought, “at least I would become a mother to a child who needs a mother's affection. Besides, this could also set an example for others to follow. Two lives got better due to this marriage - a child got a mother and a transgender woman got a loving family. Such a possibility for others could better so many lives. That is why I agreed to accept his proposal.” Even until the last moment Basudeba's family didn't give their consent to the wedding. But eventually they gave up and Basudeba and Meghna finally got married on 26th January 2017 with the blessing of both the families. Talking about her wedding day, Meghna shared that “more than ten thousand people came to attend the wedding. Many politicians, social activists and advocates came to attend the wedding even without invitation and gave us their blessings.” (c) Incredibleorissa Meghna and Basudeba just completed two years as a married couple and Meghna is living a happy married life with her husband, son and in-laws. She admits that arguments do crop up every now and then, but she and Basudeba always reach a middle ground, and work things out. However, she admits that her bond with her son is much stronger than that with her own husband. “I have bonded very well with my son and we love each other dearly. I feel I am more closer to him than my husband.” Basudeba for his part has stood by Meghna through it all and has never paid heed to society's judgements. Currently, Meghna is working with an NGO and also became first transgender woman to work with Ola as a driver. Meghna also holds an MBA in HR and Management. Meghna's lone motivation is to change the society's mindset regarding transgender community and inspire other transgenders to live their dream and build a better future for themselves without any inhibitions. Meghna's journey and story has inspired many other transgenders to turn their lives around and hope for the first time, to live their dreams and find the love of their life who would be willing to accept them for who they are and love them.
  19. One of the biggest fears to live by in the man-made digital age, is fearing the leakage of classified or fragile information, from various digital mediums. A bigger fear than that is fearing the leakage of nude pictures that someone's ex may have of them, on a digital platform. Yes, we live in such a disruptive age, that it just takes a click for something like that ever happen. © Twitter Leaking someone's nudes digitally also makes for the best blackmail till date and it's a scary ordeal TBH. If you don't believe me, you can surely ask Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who actually chose to say 'no' to blackmail, only to wind up with a potential scandal in hand, after he publicly announced his divorce from his long-time wife MacKenzie. Bezos has publicly claimed that a local tabloid is blackmailing him with steamy leaked photos of him to his recent 'lover', and he definitely won't succumb to any form of blackmail, whatsoever. © Pintrest On a personal blog post, Besoz said that the 'National Enquirer' is threatening to publish his 'intimate photos' and that he has chosen to reveal the information about the threats rather than 'capitulate to extortion and blackmail'. The blog entry is titled 'No Thank you Mr. Pecker', and in it, Bezos is accusing the local tabloid of threatening him to publish intimate photos of him with Lauren Sanchez, the reporter with whom he was having an affair. I've written a post about developments with the National Enquirer and its parent company, AMI. You can find it here: https://t.co/G1ykJAPPwy — Jeff Bezos (@JeffBezos) 7 February 2019 Bezos believes the publication thinks the pictures were blackmail-worthy because they were perfect to tarnish the richest man's reputation amidst the Amazon stakeholders. Bezos has hired an investigator to further figure how the tabloid got hold of his intimate pictures in the first place. But the big question is, why would the National Enquirer blackmail him anyway? © Instagram According to Bezos, the parent company of the tabloid- American Media Inc. wants the Amazon chief to admit publicly that their investigation into his personal life was never "politically motivated or influenced by political forces". By now we all know the National Enquirer carried out a detailed investigation into Bezos' affair, which eventually led to his marriage ending, but we're not sure how any of it was influenced politically though. The National Enquirer claimed it had evidence that Bezos was "whisking his mistress off to exotic destinations on his $65 million private jet." "Something unusual happened to me yesterday. Actually, for me, it wasn't just unusual? - it was a first. I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. Or at least that's what the top people at the National Enquirer thought. I'm glad they thought that, because it emboldened them to put it all in writing," Bezos wrote. "Rather than capitulate to extortion and blackmail, I've decided to publish exactly what they sent me, despite the personal cost and embarrassment they threaten," Jeff Bezos states in his blog post. © Twitter The tabloid holds photos of Bezos in his briefs, naked selfies and an explicit dick picture. One of the emails sent to Bezos by AMI reads- "If your client agrees to cease and desist such defamatory behaviour, we are willing to engage in constructive conversations regarding the texts and photos which we have in our possession," To which Bezos replies, in his blog post "Well, that [the email] got my attention but not in the way they likely hoped. Any personal embarrassment AMI could cause me takes a back seat because there's a much more important matter involved here. If in my position I can't stand up to this kind of extortion, how many people can?" © Twitter As of now, Bezos has decided to run the risk of the tabloid leaking his nudes, in order to publicise the AMIs extortion practices and show the world how they really do business. I think it's a mighty brave move, Mr CEO. He adds- "Be assured, no real journalists ever propose anything like what is happening here. Nothing I might write here could tell the National Enquirer story as eloquently as their own words."
  20. Unlike the first T20I match at Wellington, the Indian bowling side looked a lot more in control of the game as the important wickets of Tim Seifert and Colin Munro fell quickly. While the newbie went away on a caught-behind after hitting a four and a six, Munro was dismissed by a Rohit Sharma catch off Krunal Pandya. However, what is probably going to be the major point of discussion of the match is the questionable decision given out by the third Umpire, Shaun Haig when batsman Daryl Mitchell asked for a review on an LBW appeal. While the original decision given by the on-field umpire was against the Kiwi, upon review, it was seen that the ball edged the bat before touching Mitchell's pad. However, the Snickometer did not pick up any sound on the ball making a contact with the bat. Drama at Eden Park, Auckland! A lot of questions will be asked of the third umpire Shaun Haig, Hotspot and DRS. Daryl Mitchell must be gutted and confused at the same time. #NZvIND #INDvNZ #TeamIndia #DarylMitchell #KrunalPandya #DRS #Hotspot #T20I — Ameya Tilak (@ameyatilak) February 8, 2019 All these technologies and still can't figure out a clear inside edge. #indvnz #DarylMitchell — Ankit (@ankitchandram) February 8, 2019 This is what probably led to Haig calling a decision in favour of the on-field umpire's original call and gave Mitchell an 'out'. However, the fans, the Kiwi batsmen and even the Indian players seemed to be surprised with the third umpire's final say. Assembling at the centre of the Eden Park, everyone was asking another as to how exactly was the righty batter out. Daryl Mitchell could be seen literally begging in front of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and keeper MS Dhoni to advocate his case in front of the umpires and let him continue to bat. Although Sharma smiled at the hapless batsman, it was evidently clear that he wasn't going to help him as he was asked to leave the field. If a bowling team feels that the umpire's decision to send a batsman away was wrong, they have the right to call him back to the pitch. It is not just a rule on paper. It has been exercised by teams on a number of occasions with former skipper Dhoni himself calling back English batsman Ian Bell after getting him for a run-out on a legitimate confusion. So, in such a scenario, should Rohit Sharma have called Mitchell back?
  21. Valentine's Day is probably the most hated day for all the single people out there and I think a lot of people generally just ignore the day altogether. But, a zoo in Sydney is making everyone a particularly awesome Valentine's Day offer, that is very hard to refuse. The Wild Life Sydney Zoo shared a post unveiling their hilarious and unique contest - get a chance to name one of the most venomous snakes after your ex. Yep, if you think your ex is a snake, make that official and have the best Valentine's Day ever. View this post on Instagram Name a snake after your ex this Valentine's Day! ðIs your ex a snake? If so, now is your opportunity to cement their 'snaky status' by naming a brown snake (one of the world's most venomous snakes) after them at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo! To enter, simply head to the link in our bio and tell us why your ex deserves to have a snake named after them along with a $1 donation to the @wildlifeconservationfund ðððððCompetition entries close 13 Feb 2019 #wildlifesydneyzoo #snake #valentinesday #vday #snakystatus #competition #seeaustralia #darlingharbour A post shared by WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo (@wildlifesydneyzoo) on Feb 3, 2019 at 1:13pm PST The General Manager, of the zoo Mark Connolly, says, “We hope that by providing someone unlucky in love the opportunity to name WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo's very own brown snake after their ex, we can give them something else to celebrate on Valentine's Day this year. We're also throwing in an annual pass to WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo so that you can also visit the snake in Darling Harbour as many times as you want during the next year!” It's pretty easy and doesn't even cost much. Anyone who's interested in being petty just has to tell them why their ex deserves to have a snake named after them along with a $1 donation to the Wildlife Conservation Fund. If anyone will actually go to such lengths to get a snake named after their ex, a dollar is honestly a small price to pay. The winner will be announced on 14th Feb and no one can give a better Valentine's Day gift than this.
  22. Imagine losing all your squirrelled-away savings because the bank loses the password to its computer systems! That's (or rather, the cryptocurrency equivalent) exactly what happened recently with the Canadian Bitcoin exchange QuadrigaCX. Yup, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies) really haven't turned out the way we all hoped we would. They're too volatile, making them pointless for safekeeping your money away from the government's eyes, scams abound, exchanges have been hacked, the legality in many countries is still uncertain. The list goes on, and now you can add this doozy of a reason to the list of why you should be wary of trusting your money to people you don't really know. The Founder Died & Nobody Else Knows The Wallet Password This happened at Canadian cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX - as it turns out, their founder, who was on a trip to India, died of complications from a chronic disease. Normally, we wouldn't expect that to shutter a business, but in the wacky world of Bitcoin, QuadrigaCX boss Gerald Cotten was also the only person who had access to the cryptocurrency exchange's wallet!!! This came out when QuadrigaCX filed for bankruptcy protection - their filing revealed they had no way of accessing the funds stored in their 'cold storage' wallet. According to a report on CoinDesk, the wallet, including all other transaction information is locked up in Cotten's laptop - and nobody has the password. Conspiracy Theories Abound While it would seem like a mix of incompetence, poor planning, and sheer bad luck, not everyone on the Internet agrees - rumours and allegations of a scam (we should mention, completely unproven) are rife: Many folks, understandably angry about the loss of their Bitcoin, are claiming the founder might have faked his death. Other people have alleged that QuadrigaCX's co-founder is a convicted identity thief who might have changed his identity (again, completely unproven and just allegations, though many of the affected are calling for a proper investigation). Not The First Cryptocurrency Disaster This isn't the first time cryptocurrency investors have lost their money: There was the case of Japanese exchange Mt Gox, which 'lost' almost $450 million worth (at that time) of cryptocurrency in a hack. Last year, two South Korea exchanges - Coinrail and Bithumb lost around $70 million in another hack. Another Japanese exchange - Coincheck - also revealed last year that it had lost nearly half a billion dollars worth of cryptocurrency in yet another hack! Even Bitcoin mining firms have been in the news - for allegedly lying to investors. Even Twitter was forced to take action after many scammers started using Elon Musk's likeness for advertising their cryptocurrency schemes (or rather, scams)! Cryptocurrency ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) are yet another minefield - many, many ICOs have turned out to be scams and Ponzi schemes! Keeping Your Bitcoin Safe Here are a few simple steps to keep your hoard of cryptocurrency safe: Use a reputable exchange: Yes, we know - considering some of the biggest names have been hacked, how can anyone tell what's reputable and what's not? It's always a risk to trust someone else with your Bitcoin, but if you still want to do so, tread carefully - read up on what other cryptocurrency enthusiasts think of them! Also, don't forget to use a strong password and two-factor authentication. Don't use an Indian exchange: Bitcoin-Rupee transactions are now banned in India, but if you still have any cryptocurrency in a wallet on an India-based exchange, we suggest you transfer the funds elsewhere - given how abruptly policies can change, your cryptocurrency will be safer elsewhere! Use your own wallet: Many companies offer software wallets you can store on your hard disk. Try one of these out, and don't forget to use a strong password. And it might make sense to keep a few backups in separate locations - don't be like the chap who threw out a hard disk containing a fortune in Bitcoin! Also, make sure any hard drive you store your wallet on is not plugged into a computer with access to the Internet. Use an offline wallet: Go completely non-electronic with a paper wallet. But for God's sake, don't leave it lying around - keep it in a bank safe deposit box!

  24. Netizens went crazy last evening when Anushka Sharma's American doppelganger surfaced on the internet. Given that he also happens to be the latest craze that has gripped the nation, apart from the likes of Vicky Kaushal and Pankaj Tripathi who are enjoying the highs of success, recognition and a growing fanbase that only seems to be getting bigger and stronger by the day. A photograph of a man called Chintu Tyagi from Lucknow has surfaced on social media, who seems to share very similar features to Kartik, and can be seen dressed in a plain checkered shirt and moss green pants. 25. We don't watch the Super Bowl here in India - I don't think it's even broadcasted here - but it's one of the biggest sporting events in the USA and somehow, also becomes international news. The highlight of this year's Super Bowl, though, was Adam Levine and his nipples. Yep, his nips. © Twitter But, to understand why that's causing so much backlash, we have to remember a Super Bowl halftime show from a few years ago, 15 years to be exact. The infamous show from 2004 featured Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, and a controversy that is still talked about. During the show, Justin went to remove Janet's corset but accidentally tore off her bra too, exposing her bare breast. What followed was a widespread criticism for Janet Jackson which affected her career tremendously, but Justin Timberlake moved on unscathed. But, the infamous 'Nipplegate' is being talked about again today because well, didn't Adam Levine do the exact same thing, but just intentionally? People are questioning why Janet Jackson's nipples were such a problem when Adam Levine is not being pulled up for the same thing. While offended, people haven't lost their sense of humour and are tweeting sarcastic funny thing. Here's what everyone is saying: Eww, nips. now I have to explain to my children that adam levine has nipples — ziwe (@ziwe) February 4, 2019 Exactly the same. adam levine took off his shirt like an uncle at thanksgiving when kid rock comes on — elijah daniel (@elijahdaniel) February 4, 2019 There were a lot of home decor comparisons as well.
