  1. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to pay rent for their Frogmore Cottage home after royal exitPrince Harry and Meghan Markle had stirred up a storm earlier following their decision to step away as British royal family's senior members. And as they gradually move into their ‘ordinary’ lives after giving up the royal HRH [his or her royal highness] titles, reports are suggesting that their royal allowances will now be brought to a halt as well. It was also revealed that prior to their indefinite move to Canada, the couple will also have to pay rent to their Frogmore Cottage home which came as a gift to the two by Queen Elizabeth when they tied the knot in 2018. Since the property was originally said to be ‘dilapidated’, the pair had used around $3 million of taxpayer money to renovate the home which is why they will now have to pay the public back for the consumed amount, as they no longer wish to be part of the British royals. In a statement released by the palace, shedding light on their step-down-agreement, it was stated: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home." On the other hand, it was also revealed that the two will pay rent for the property as they wish to keep the gift handed to them by the Queen. Royal expert Katie Nicoll revealed to Vanity Fair: “They will keep the residence, a wedding gift from the Queen; however they will pay rent on the property."
  2. What can you possibly do in 40 seconds? Watch snippets and trailers of your favourite TV series or movies on YouTube. Save 35 seconds by skipping an ad after 5 seconds. Make coffee or cocktail or anything. © Reuters Honestly, whatever your answer is, it clearly doesn't matter anymore; because it can come nowhere close to what Conor McGregor did in 40 seconds. On Saturday night, Conor McGregor came back with a bang and knocked out Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone in the first-round TKO in the welterweight main event at UFC 246 held in Las Vegas. Just in case you missed it, here's Conor McGregor with his 'shoulder-in-chief' going all out against Cowboy Cerrone who clearly did not take McGregor or his shoulder too seriously. HE. IS. WOW! #UFC246 pic.twitter.com/0B0NXbi6pY — UFC (@ufc) January 19, 2020 If you think what happened with Cowboy inside the ring is brutal, wait till you hear what happened to Dan Bilzerian. It's worse than getting hit by McGregor's shoulder. While McGregor may have earned millions by winning the first round, Dan Bilzerian on the other hand lost approximately a million in those 40 seconds, because he placed a bet against McGregor. Before the match, Bilzerian proudly posted a picture with his 'pocket change' on social media and wrote "Putting some pocket change on @Cowboycerrone who y'all got?" Puttin some pocket change on @Cowboycerrone who y'all got? pic.twitter.com/xHsjTIeSkl — Dan Bilzerian (@DanBilzerian) January 19, 2020 He even posted videos on his Instagram stories of the huge pile of cash stacked up in line, with him asking Cowboy to take no pressure. Now, we don't know how much cash does Bilzerian mean by 'some pocket change', but the eagle-eyed people on social media were quick to do their maths and according to their estimate, it's close to $1million. Wow, now that's a brutal episode of 'How To Lose Your Money In 40 Seconds'. We wonder on whom the pressure is now. Anyone want to check on Dan Bilzerian? He lost all of this in 40 seconds tonight pic.twitter.com/5w7Sik0QGS — Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) January 19, 2020 Okay the total for the money is: 6 layers, $2000 each set. 3. In less than three months, Prithvi Shaw has made a second staggering comeback to the field and proven why he is one of the top prospects as the future of Indian cricket in the years to come. This time around, the batsman went on a rampage against the New Zealand XI in the second warm-up One-Day match amidst India's tour of the land of the Kiwis. Off just 100 deliveries, Shaw exploded for 150 runs with 22 boundaries and two maximums being struck from his bat. Prithvi Shaw smashes a quick 150 as India A put up 372 against New Zealand XIhttps://t.co/yDtcBWe9R0 pic.twitter.com/C1PSbQUuE3 — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) January 19, 2020 The Virar-born helped his side rack up a massive total of 372 runs before the Indian batting innings came to an end in the 50th over, while receiving significant contribution from all-rounder Vijay Shankar who slammed 58 off 41 balls. India A skipper Shubman Gill failed to impress as he was dismissed at 24. Good to see Vijay Shankar scoring in the death for which once he was known for. Three knocks like this along with one or two wickets in this season will help him to get picked in the Test squad(if he does even well there are chances for him to play ODIs as well). — cricfan (@KlBest) January 19, 2020 The 20-year-old cricketer in Prithvi Shaw is an enigma. He is someone the fans of the Indian cricket team want to put their faith in but also aren't too confident about, and it has nothing to do with his skills with the bat, which are obviously great. Shaw has been playing jump rope with his ability to be liked by the coaches, his teammates and the rest of the people around him. After coming back from being banned for eight months because of unintentionally consuming a prohibited substance, Shaw who was the opener for Mumbai during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament, went on to score 63 runs off 39 balls. It was all well and good until Shaw decided to copy Virat Kohli's “my bad does the talking” gesture and got an earful by the viewers. Welcome back! He is making a comeback today and @PrithviShaw makes it a memorable one with a fine-half century for Mumbai against Assam in @Paytm #MushtaqAliT20. pic.twitter.com/hiBfiElhed — BCCI Domestic (@BCCIdomestic) November 17, 2019 This is the problem with the young players. Coming Back from a ban, scoring a half century against a relatively weaker bowling attack, and then making gestures. They need to learn to be humble. This over confident kid won't last long in the international arena. MARK MY WORDS! — Shubham Agrawal (@imShubhamA) November 17, 2019 Shaw has also been called out for living an undisciplined life because of which he had gone on to suffer from multiple injuries and was therefore ruled out of opportunities to make it big in the world of international cricket. “Whose loss is it? How long will it take for him to understand that he was brought into the Test team ahead of Mayank Agarwal, who was the most prolific and consistent run-getter in the domestic circuit that time. If Prithvi is not making the opportunity count, he can only blame himself. It's his lifestyle causing all the mess,” a source had told The Times of India earlier in January. “I wouldn't like to cite particular instances though there's a list of misconducts that have been reported. The last one was in Baroda. The Mumbai team manager was very angry and reported an incident. I wouldn't like to get into details here but something's very wrong. Someone needs to have a very clear and serious chat with him,” revealed another source about the cricketer's misdemeanour. Despite all the issues, the fact is that Shaw is a prolific batsman. It is his confidence in his skills that enables him to enter the field after being away for weeks and still put up big numbers. His 150-run knock in Lincoln is a mark for big things to come, provided he stays healthy and works a little on his attitude. View the full article
  4. A dog was rescued after she got her head stuck in the wall of a temple in Thailand. Video of the dog and the rescue operation went viral on the internet, with people praising the workers for saving the animal. According to reports, the dog got her head stuck in concrete wall of a Buddhist temple in Chonburi region. Authorities' attention was drawn toward the animal's trouble by a monk on Tuesday evening. The rescuers, after getting the emergency call, rushed to the site and used demolition equipment to wide the whole in which the dog had trapped himself. Social media users said the stray mother dog had been looking for food to take back to her seven puppies. "The dog looked weary when we arrived. "We planned how to help her out of the situation as quickly as possible. ''All seven puppies were waiting for their mother dog, so we were pleased that we could save her and reunite her with her family,' rescue volunteer Chawanakorn was quoted by local media as saying.

  6. While the Indian cricket team were in the middle of a great run during World Cup 2019 before the disappointing loss to Kane Williamson and the New Zealand side, one of their biggest and most heart-warming highlight came during Indiaâs match against Bangladesh at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. The cameraman caught one of the most excited fans at the venue, a 87-year-old Charulata Patel, who was seen cheering for the Men in Blue whenever Rohit Sharma walked down the pitch to slam a six or one of Jasprit Bumrahâs yorkers gave the Bangladeshis a tough time at the crease. 7. Pakistan last hosted a major ICC tournament (the World Cup) in 1996. — Photo: FileBuoyed by successfully hosting Sri Lanka and convincing Bangladesh to tour as well, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now set its sights on bringing a major cricket tournament to the country. Manu Sawhney, the chief executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC), is expected in Pakistan on a two-day visit from Jan 22 to 23. Daily Jang, citing its sources, has reported that PCB officials will explore the possibility of bringing a major ICC tournament to Pakistan between 2023 and 2031. The Urdu daily further states that there will be eight men’s and as many women’s ICC tournaments during the nine-year period mentioned above. The same time period will also accommodate four U-19 tournaments. The PCB, in the light of its recent achievements, is hoping to have done enough to gain the trust of the rest of the cricketing world. And although decisions on tournament rights are decided in ICC meetings, the PCB is planning to lay the groundwork when Sawhney visits Pakistan next week. The PCB has set up Sawhney’s meetings with federal minister Fehmida Mirza as well as officials of the interior ministry. He will also be given a security briefing. The exercise, the PCB believes, will help it in bringing top cricketing nations to Pakistan, while its long-term target remains on securing the right to host a major tournament. Pakistan last hosted a major ICC tournament (the World Cup) in 1996. In 2008, it hosted the Asia Cup — an event regulated by the Asian Cricket Council.

  10. Ever since Xiaomi's POCO F1 became a huge hit, people have been flooding Xiaomi with questions about the next POCO phone. Unfortunately, there was a lot of evidence suggesting that Xiaomi has ditched the brand and we won't be seeing any new phone from POCO. In fact, people had lost all their hopes when Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 and the K20 Pro in India. There was no way Xiaomi was going to compete with their own device. But now, it's a new year, so we're pretty positive about the POCO F2. And thankfully, we have some evidence suggesting that the POCO F2 is happening after all. Yes, we now have some solid evidence that there could be a POCO F2 in 2020. As spotted by a Twitter user who goes by the handle @_the_tech_guy, Xiaomi has filed a trademark application for a device named POCO F2. Yes, check it out - #Xiaomi files trademark application for POCO F2 So the POCO series exists and POCO F2 is coming soon .....#xiaomi #pocoPhone #POCOF2 pic.twitter.com/3JDwplv9IJ — _the_tech_guy (@_the_tech_guy) January 11, 2020 The document is a clear indication that the successor is coming. And a similar trademark for "POCO" showed up right before the launch of POCO F1 as well, so we think we're very close to the launch. If it's really happening, then we think the phone will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 SoC. However, it's worth making a note that the Snapdragon 865 is 5G chipset, which means the POCO F2 could be significantly expensive. But we're not sure about that just yet. The brand could very well launch the phone with a different chipset. © Akshay Bhalla/ MensXP Sadly, that's all we know about this phone currently. We hope to learn more about it very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for more details. View the full article

Selena Gomez comes to Hailey Baldwin’s defense as trolls attack after their run-inSelena Gomez and her ex Justin Bieber may have had sour ties but the singer is clear that she picked her battle with one person only as she was recently seen taking the high road. The fiasco unleashed when Justin Bieber’s wife and supermodel Hailey Baldwin was accompanying singer Maddison Beer – who is also friends with Selena – for dinner, at a place where the Lose You To Love Me singer was already present for her celebration. While that may have been a coincidental run-in, fans on the internet wasted no time in throwing shade and sending hate to Beer for ruining Selena’s celebratory dinner. However, Beer was not one to be silent while getting unnecessary amount of hate as she struck back saying: “These rumors are getting insane.. I just had dinner with my friend hailey of 10 years… and that’s it?” she wrote in her own comments section. “How is that a crime? I love selena.. always have. (as y’all know.) and I would literally never in a million years try to upset her??? that is just mean and unnecessary and nothing happened. it was just a coincidence, you’re bullying me for no reason…,” she wrote. Selena too joined in to not just defend her friend but also Hailey as she wrote: “This is disgusting reading all of this. This wasn’t intentional whatsoever. I’m so disappointed that people would speak to someone like this. I have known Madison since she was a baby and watched her continue to become the woman she is. There is no issue.”
  12. Marvel's Avengers: Endgame was one film that rocked the world and shattered the box office records last year. And rightfully so, the Russo Brothers-directorial is getting the accolades that it deserves starting off at the Critics’ Choice Awards 2020 as it took home two awards. The star-studded, record-breaking superhero film bagged nominations for Best Action Movie, Best Sci-Fi or Horror Movie and Best Visual Effects, and took home two out of those, leaving Marvel fans euphoric. However, there were many viewers ready to rain on their parades as they took to social media to complain about the film not worthy of the Best Action Movie title. Keanu Reeves’ John Wick was termed more of a favourite for some of the fans as one fan wrote: "This movie only had 20-30 mins of action in it? I 100% disagree on this.”

  15. A 25-year-old Sanju Samson may have over 3000 T20 runs under his belt but just two international appearances. Having played his very first match for the Indian cricket team all the way back in 2015 in Harare, Zimbabwe, the cricketer got his second and seemingly last chance in the time to come, to don the blue kit on Friday, January 10, 2020. Sanju Samson finally gets to play his second T20I; his first came in 2015. By the looks of it, Samson's misfortunes as a Man in Blue continue to haunt him as the team has decided to drop him yet again ahead of the five T20Is to be played against New Zealand on foreign soil. India's T20I squad for NZ tour announced: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), KL Rahul, S Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, W Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur — BCCI (@BCCI) January 12, 2020 Emotions were flowing at full strength during the third and final T20I between India and Sri Lanka when Samson was promoted to bat one-down in the batting order by skipper Virat Kohli. There was a feeling of desperation in Samson's eyes when he approached the pitch. He wanted to show the world that he belonged on the ground, he wanted to show the world that he was good enough. The first ball that he faced, the Trivandrum favourite smashed the delivery for a maximum but the second delivery by Wanindu Hasaranga trapped him with a clear LBW and that was it for the glorious return of the wicket-keeper batsman. #INDvsSL Pic 1: Samson first ball six Pic 2: Samson out LBW pic.twitter.com/5qFRpDc8bz — Akshay Batra (@theakshaybatra) January 10, 2020 “With time and experience I have come to realise that I need to have a very clear head and a balanced state of mind,” Samson had told me back in November, 2019 but at that moment, his mind was pacing and his face gave away the frustration like a bad poker player. Was this how his international career had to end? Will he be remembered as nothing but a tiny spec of dust in the vast history that Indian cricket boasts? “What was that cricketer's name who had a lot of potential but never made it big,” is this how the future generations were going to address the man? It's actually little unfair on Sanju Samson, he didn't do anything wrong. The only opportunity he got after 4 years in which he had to go from very first ball! They should've selected him for 5 long T20Is against New Zealand.#SanaWorldWide #SanjuSamson # pic.twitter.com/3kAyu48IXw — Rahul Nath (@Rntk____) January 12, 2020 Even though age is on his side and the fact that he will continue to earn a ton of money given his brilliance in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League, there is not a bigger honour for an athlete to represent their nation but by the looks of it, Samson might not receive that honour anytime soon. 20. LAHORE: Another controversial video of Hassaan Niazi, Prime Minister Imran Khan's nephew, surfaced Friday in which he can be seen arguing with a driver after his car collided with another one. The incident reportedly took place outside the gate of a club located at Zafar Ali Road. The two cars collided as both were trying to enter the same gate at the same time. A furious Niazi can be seen forcibly taking the keys from the other person's car and arguing with him. Police officers at the scene tried to intervene by urging the prime minister's nephew to calm down. Niazi spoke to Geo News, confirming that his car did have a collision with the other vehicle. The lawyer said he had complained to the club administration about the incident. He said after a 'minor spat', the issue was resolved. Taking to Twitter, Niazi said he had been punched but a couple of news channels had bashed him before taking his version of the event. "My car was hit. I got punched. I called the security. I filed the complaint. And media bashing me even after issue has been resolved. First they played news then decided to take my version," he tweeted. He is nominated in one of the two first information reports (FIRs) registered for vandalising a police car parked outside the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). According to the police, the case was registered after they "found Niazi damaging a police car in the CCTV footage they had obtained". 22. Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated as a hero after saving drunken man. Photo: ComplexLeonardo DiCaprio is one of Hollywood's gems as his humanitarian endeavors never go unseen in the eyes of the public and his Instagram account attests to that fact. Recently, an insider came forward with news which shines light on DiCaprio's heroism off screen. The actor was enjoying a vacation with friends and girlfriend Camila Morrone, on a rented boat on December 30. This was when they all heard an emergency call calling for the search of a man who had fallen overboard, in a drunken haze, from a Club Med yacht. A source told PEOPLE, “Leo and his friends and their boat captain decided to join the search and their efforts resulted in helping save a man’s life,” the man had been treading the open water for almost 11 hours before getting rescued. The inside further went onto say, “The boat crew were happy to try and assist — even more so that they were able to help get the man to safety.” As luck would have it, DeCaprio's boat was the only one which happened to be searching for the man, at the area where he had reportedly fallen off from. The man was spotted amidst rough waters almost an hour before the sun was going to set and a heavy rainstorm set in.
  23. Damage at Al Asad air base, January 8, 2020. Photo: Reuters Satellite images released by news agency Reuters on Wednesday appeared to show the damage done to the Al-Asad Air Base housing coalition troops in Iraq that was attacked by the Iran on Tuesday in retaliation for the assassination of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Iran had claimed on Wednesday afternoon that at least 80 US troops had been killed in the attack that was carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had said Iran had delivered a "slap in the face" to the US with the attack. US President Donald Trump, who had tweeted immediately after the attack that America would respond after assessing the damage, rejected the Iranian claims late on Wednesday, and announced new economic sanctions on Tehran in the wake of the attacks on US troops. Damage at Al Asad air base, January 8, 2020. Photo: Reuters Also read: Trump says Iran standing down, US 'ready to embrace peace' The images released by Reuters do indicate that the air base targeted in the attack sustained some damage, but it is still unclear what the extent of that damage was, or how many US troops died as a result of it. The Pentagon, which handles military affairs in US, has also remained mum on the issue. US-based news publication The Washington Post on Wednesday published a report that claimed that the Trump administration knew about the Iranian strikes well in advance of the actual missile attacks. Statements from Iraqi officials lend further credence to the claim. The contradictory statements from the two warring parties has led to a slew of news reports that appear to either claim that the Iranians provided the warning to Iraq on purpose, while others say that the Iranians intended to hit Americans directly and without warning. Damage at Al Asad air base, January 8, 2020. Photo: Reuters Also read: Iran attacks US bases in Iraq, world awaits Trump's statement: Get the latest updates here According to news agency AFP, Iraq's prime minister's office said Wednesday it had received "an official verbal message" from Iran informing it that a missile attack on US forces stationed on Iraqi soil was imminent. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif backed the comments of the Iraqi government on Wednesday. Defence experts on social networking website Twitter further corroborated the Iraqi claims. One expert, Jeffery Lewis of the Middlebury Institute, said that the strikes showed just how precise the missiles of the Iranians were, as they destroyed selected buildings. Reuters had reported on Wednesday that Iran’s launching of more than a dozen missiles at American-led forces in Iraq came after years of preparing for a confrontation with its superpower foe, whose forces are vastly larger and more advanced. The Gulf country has more than 500,000 active-duty personnel, according to a report last year by the International Institute for Strategic Studies. But international sanctions and restrictions on arms imports have made it hard for Iran to develop or buy more sophisticated weaponry to confront the United States. To compensate for the imbalance, Iran has developed “asymmetrical” responses — ballistic missiles, deadly drones and a web of militia allies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, among other things — with the aim of being able to inflict pain while avoiding the traditional battlefield. Also read: Iran missile strike: Tehran claims 80 dead in attack on US bases However, there were also those who took the opposing point of view, saying the Iranians launched the strikes without warning and used heavy-duty ballistic missiles designed to inflict maximum damage on the enemy, wanting to kill scores of American soldiers on the ground. National Security Correspondent for Fox News Jeffery Griffin claimed that an American general had said that the defensive actions and counter measures of the US forces helped saved American lives in the attack, as the Iran had wanted to do as much damage as possible to the base. The statement put out by US President Donald Trump, who is considered to be very tough on Iran by defence experts, would seem to suggest that no American lives were lost in the attack, since Trump did not order military action against Iran, and instead imposed economic sanctions. As leaders around the world urge for caution and restraint after the tensions between the US and Iran, it still remains to be seen how Iran responds to American claims that Tehran intentionally missed targeting US troops out of fear of a conventional conflict with the Washington.
  24. So many animals lose their lives every day for meat and it's actually such a cruel practice. No, we're not trying to spread some vegan agenda, but this one particular animal pleading to be spared is too heartbreaking. Reportedly, a cow in China literally begged to be spared from being slaughtered by kneeling down in front of the butcher with tears in its eyes. To make matters worse, the cow was also pregnant. The incident happened in Shantou in Guangdong Province of China and even though it's very sad how the cow had to beg to stay alive, the entire thing at least has a happy ending. An insider named Lin Wangbo told Chinese news outlet The Paper, according to a translation provided by Daily Mail, that "After it arrived at the slaughterhouse and when the butcher tried to drag it off the truck and into the house to be butchered, it knelt and kept crying." © YouTube In the end, the people of China came to the cow's rescue. After the video of the entire thing was uploaded on Chinese social media platforms, it went viral and people came together to save the poor cow. Reportedly, everyone managed to collect 24,950 yuan - â¹2.5 lakh - to buy the cow and was released at a local Buddhist temple where it was happily adopted. Another 4,000 yuan - â¹41,000 - were also raised to give to the temple to cover all the expenses. © YouTube See, great things can be achieved when people work together. I'm just glad the cow is alive and at a better place where it will hopefully receive the love and care it needs. View the full article

Photo: ReutersBAGHDAD: Two rockets crashed late Wednesday into Baghdad’s Green Zone, the high-security enclave where foreign embassies including the US mission are based, security sources told AFP. Just before midnight, AFP correspondents in Baghdad heard two loud blasts followed by the wailing security sirens of the Green Zone. The attack came nearly 24 hours after Tehran launched ballistic missiles at Iraqi bases housing American and other coalition forces, which did not cause casualties. The strikes were in retaliation for a US drone strike that killed top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis last week. Muhandis had been the deputy head of the Hashed al-Shaabi, a web of armed groups incorporated into the Iraqi state but which also have close ties to Tehran. Read also: Iran says it respects sovereignty of Iraq, a day after missiles launch The United States had accused Hashed groups of being behind a string of rocket attacks on the US embassy in Baghdad and bases hosting American troops across the country. On Wednesday, the Hashed’s hardline factions vowed they, too, would take revenge for the US raid. Paramilitary chief Qais al-Khazali — blacklisted as a "terrorist" by the US — said Iraq’s response to the US "will be no less than the size of the Iranian response." Harakat al-Nujaba, a hardline Hashed faction, vowed to avenge Muhandis. "To American soldiers: Do not close your eyes. Revenge for the martyr Muhandis is coming at the hands of Iraqis — until the last soldier among you leaves," it said. US has restored 'level of deterrence' on Iran: PentagonUS Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Wednesday said Washington had re-established some deterrence toward Iran in the wake of the January 3 drone strike that killed Soleimani. Will strike 'resounding blow' if Israel is attacked: Netanyahu warns Iran Addressing a press conference at the White House, Trump said the targeted military bases suffered 'minimal damage' owing to "precautions and an early warning system" that helped save lives when the missiles were fired. "The American people should be happy. I am pleased to announce that no US soldiers were hurt in the attack last night by the Iran regime," he said. "Iran seems to be standing down which is good for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world," he said.
