  5. Before we send you on a trip down memory lane, let's refresh your childhood memories with a quick game that we loved and hated with equal passion, as long as we got the answers right. So, solve this riddle for us, will you? What looks like the shittiest place to be when you're actually in it, but makes you crave for a revisit as soon as you move out? It's the most liberating part of our existence, though nobody really realises it until it's too late. Our most cherished memories feature this part of the journey, and the urge to recreate and relive them grows stronger with every candle we add to our birthday cake. Eventually, we get to relive all of it through someone else. What is it? Answer at the end of this article. While you rake your grey cells for an answer, let's continue with the much-awaited, nostalgia-ridden trip featuring 10 iconic goodies from the 90s that millennials will probably never see again: 1. Big Babol, Boomer, Chiclets © Quora The real king of chewing gum that was introduced to us as kids. We competed to see who could make the biggest gum balloon and went about poppin' ours till we made one worthy of flaunting. 2. The Toy Gun That Felt Real © Quora As dubious as the toy seemed, what fun it used to be to load em' up and scare the shit out of unsuspecting victims. 3. TAZOssssss © Pinterest 90s kids are known to have mountain loads of tazos that made for the most reliable weapon when trying to settle matters between siblings and even friends at times. 4. Cassettes © Reddit Let's admit it, a certain joy was experienced in putting these nasty objects in place every time you wished to fix the tape or rewind it. 5. Coffee Bite (Original) © Facebook - Coffee Bite Lovers Perhaps the only candy out there that resembled the real deal and allowed us to carry the taste of coffee in our pockets. 6. Poppins © YouTube The good ol' coloured candies with flavours that ranged from fruits to berries and whatnot, really made for a great catch when it came to changing the colour of our tongue. 7. Super Mario Bros Arcade Game © Reddit The Super Mario game is part of almost every millennials' childhood in India, and happens to have given some eternal memories as we tried and failed, tried yet again and failed and tried all over again until we succeeded to save Princess Toadstool from Bowser's clutches. Ah...what fun that was. 8. Walkman - Music To Our Ears, Literally! © Pinterest If you haven't flaunted one these during your time, you really missed out on a different kind of high. These used to be the pride of our little treasures that we accumulated as kids, and the best part was that everything sounded good on a Walkman. 9. Postal Letters & Postcards © Blogs(Dot)sjw(dot)com The very method of writing a postcard or a postal letter seemed so curious, and put together with those quirky looking stamps, we kept trying to get our hands on them as often as possible. 10. Campa © Guruprasad(dot)net Even though the drink was called Campa, somehow, desi peeps ended up renaming it Campa Cola regardless of the flavour they opted for. But no matter the name or flavour was, we loved how it tasted. Answer: Our childhood. View the full article
  6. 2019 was a crucial year for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) because of Chandrayaan 2 mission. Although we lost both the lander and the orbiter this year, the mission was still a success since the orbiter survived and it even sent some valuable info. Now, it looks like 2020 is going to be even more special for ISRO and our country because the agency has confirmed that it intends to send a second mission to soft-land on the moon by November 2020. © Reuters Dubbed as the Chandrayaan 3 mission, the engineers and scientists at ISRO are planning to design and build an entirely new lander and rover. And since Chandrayaan 2 mission already left an orbiter that's currently orbiting the Moon, the next mission will not feature an orbiter of its own. Instead of that, the lander and the rover will be accompanied by an additional "detachable module" that packs the engine and fuel needed for the journey. According to reports, this module will be called the "propulsion module" The Chandrayaan 3 mission will also feature fewer orbital maneuvers than Chandrayaan 2. © Reuters By the time the next moon mission is ready to go, it would have been a year and a few weeks since the last attempt. It'll be interesting to see how the next mission will pan out. We hope everything goes as per the plan next year and we successfully land on the moon. We believe the preparations for the next mission have already started, and we wish all the engineers and scientists at ISRO very good luck. Source: The Times Of India View the full article
  7. The Galaxy Fold is a reality and we got to test out the smartphone for a few days to get to know what makes it tick. We had talked about rumours and leaks for years before a folding smartphone officially became a reality earlier this year. We tested the “improved” version of the smartphone that fixed all of the issues it had during the first iteration. We opened and closed it for days at times without any reason and still couldn't get enough of the Galaxy Fold. We took it out in the streets, used it for watching movies and play some games, yet didn't get bored with the phone. Sure, it may seem like a very expensive smartphone that comes with some gimmicks, a lot of innovation and a new way to use a smartphone, it was still a head-turner in many ways. The Galaxy Fold is no ordinary smartphone. It is for the affluent and for the tech enthusiast who wants the latest innovation in his/her hand. It's not your ideal smartphone that plays it safe with specifications, design and pricing; it's a smartphone that gives you a glimpse into what the future may look like. Here's our review of the Galaxy Fold and how our experience was using a foldable smartphone Design and Display © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla You have probably seen enough pictures of the Galaxy Fold online to draw your own conclusions. It has a classic clamshell design and resembles the Nokia Communicator when unfolded. However, instead of revealing a keyboard and timing screen when unfolded, it reveals a 7.3-inch OLED display. Samsung knows that you cannot use the smartphone in the unfolded state all the time which is why there is a second 4.6-inch screen at the front for carrying out basic tasks such as reading texts or answering calls. While this display can be used for watching videos; the real experience lies in the bigger screen. Using the bigger screen is also ideal for typing out messages as the smaller screen at the front is too tight to use. It feels more comfortable to use the primary display as most keyboards like the Samsung Keyboard, Gboard and Swiftkey adapt according to the screen. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla At the back, there is a triple camera setup that looks similar to what you may have seen on previous Samsung smartphones. The front and back of the smartphone is supported by a hinge that also doubles up as a stem when unfolded. During the course of our review, the hinge felt really sturdy even though multiple people opened and closed it like maniacs. Having said that, the Galaxy Fold does have a noticeable gap between the two screens when unfolded. The gap is big enough for debris, lint and other small particles to get through. Due to this very reason, Samsung has reinforced the hinge with rubber caps to block debris' entry. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The other thing that may interest you is that the fingerprint sensor is placed at the side of the phone. The Galaxy Fold does not come with an in-display fingerprint scanner and instead uses a small, side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It can be a task to use this scanner due to its size, however it comes very handy in the dark. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla When it comes to the display quality of the primary screen, we can say with confidence that it's by far the most beautiful display we've seen. Even though it has an aspect ratio of 1:1, we still enjoyed watching content on streaming services. There is a slight issue with the overall experience as there is a large notch on the upper right corner of the display. It houses a few cameras and due to this notch, some of your content may suffer the letterboxing effect. Certain applications and games tend to cut off that part of the content and not many applications have been optimised for this aspect ratio. Apart from these issues, the display is excellent for typing, reading ebooks and digital comics even though it takes a bit of time to adjust. Performance and Cameras On the hardware front, you will find specifications that are very much similar to the Galaxy S10 or the Note 10. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chipset, has 8GB of RAM, a massive battery and a triple-lens main camera system. For selfies, the Fold has three selfie cameras: a 10-megapixel lens (when folded), another 10-megapixel lens and a wide-angle shooter that sits in the top-right corner notch. The camera performance of the smartphone is very much similar to the Note 10, so expect good images from both the primary and selfie cameras. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla When it comes to the overall experience of the phone, it works almost identically to the previous flagship smartphone in terms of the software. It is clean, reliable and stable to use, however it is not the fastest Android smartphone you will use. The images taken are often over-processed or over-exposed. The camera performance is probably not the best you will experience but it is good enough for now. We have to mention though that using the camera is a very odd experience as the viewfinder on the small screen is not reliable enough for taking pictures. However, when taking images in the unfolded state, the camera experience is very much similar to taking pictures on a tablet. The Galaxy Fold comes with a 4,380 mAh battery which may not seem big enough for a phone with two screens, but the smartphone easily survives a full working day on a single charge. It kind of depends on what you are doing, to be honest. If you use it to watch a lot of videos and movies, you can expect the battery backup to drop down a bit. Regardless, we still got a screen on time of five hours on a single charge, which is quite a feat on its own. The Galaxy Fold can also be fast-charged like Note 10 and also supports wireless charging. Is It Worth It? © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla We've already tried to answer this question at the beginning of the review. The Galaxy Fold costs Rs 1.65 lakh which puts it in the luxury smartphone category. It is for the affluent or the tech enthusiast who has the means to afford this smartphone. Sure, it may not seem worthy to a lot of people, simply because of its price tag but then again, which luxury product isn't? We live in a world where people are willing to pay lakhs of rupees for designer handbags, wallets, and even sneakers, however there is never a backlash for these products being overpriced. Similar to such luxury products, even the Galaxy Fold is made in limited quality and is not available everywhere. However, it is packed with innovation that comes at a cost but makes it one of a kind. We can guarantee with full confidence that the Galaxy Fold will turn more heads than a super expensive luxury handbag or shoes. View the full article

  11. The beloved duo of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, known for their unbelievably hilarious chemistry from the Munna Bhai franchise, is all set to return on the big screen again after six long years. © Vinod Chopra Productions According to ETimes, Arshad has confirmed that the two will be working together again in a film directed by Sajid-Farhad, which will be nothing less than a laugh riot for the audience. Talking about their characters in the new film, Arshad said, “Sanju plays the role of a blind don and I am his eyes. The challenge is that nobody can know that he is blind, and I cannot tell anyone that he is blind. I am actually directing him throughout the film. It's quite a fun script.” View this post on Instagram A new addition to the family! Thank you Nasir & #Landrover_ModiMotors Error! Filename not specified. We'll probably head to Budapest for the first schedule of the film,” Arshad further said. Sanjay and Arshad were last seen in the film Zila Ghaziabad and since then, the audience has been craving to see them onscreen again. It was earlier reported that the Munna Bhai franchise might drop another instalment, but this is yet to be confirmed by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. 12. Not more than a year ago, Shubman Gill was being looked upon as a budding batsman who could potentially realise his dreams of playing for the Indian cricket team. But, by the time India clinched the 2018 U-19 World Cup trophy, Gill, who was eventually adjudged the 'Player of the Tournament', was hailed as a key ingredient to his team's success in the tournament. Upon his success in the U-19 World Cup, many wondered if he had the temperament of repeating his heroics while playing with proven masters of the game. But, Gill, since then, continues to dish out one brilliant performance after another, bolstering his case for selection in the national team. © Twitter/@BCCI From turning heads in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to raking in runs on the domestic circuit, the 20-year-old, in the past year or so, remains one of the most consistent performers in Indian cricket. His artistry willow earned him the honour of leading the India C side in the recently-concluded Deodhar Trophy. Tasked to lead India C, Gill led from the front in the first match, slamming a sensational 142-ball 143 - his highest List A score - to power his side to a formidable total of 366 against India A. Coming out to bat with Mayank Agarwal (120), Gill set the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on fire with an absolute carnage of an innings which was laced with 10 fours and six sixes, eventually paving way for their massive 232-run triumph. After his blazing knock saw him earning plaudits from pundits and fans alike, Gill, then, went on to etch his name in the history for another feat. Leading India C in the 47th Deodhar Trophy final against India B, Gill entered the record books as the youngest skipper to lead a side in the tournament's final. Shubman Gill is the youngest-known captain in Deodhar Trophy finals. He is just 20 years, 57 days old. #DeodharTrophy pic.twitter.com/5iufYxQAO4 — Johns (@CricCrazyJohns) November 4, 2019 The Punjab-born cricketer broke Indian skipper Virat Kohli's record which stood tall for 10 years. Kohli, who also happens to be Gill's idol, had led North Zone in the Deodhar Trophy final when he was 21-years-old and 124 days old in the 2009/10 season. While surpassing his role model would have surely left him elated, but Gill could not make the occasion more special by scoring big runs. The India C skipper was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj for just one run as his team succumbed to a 51-run defeat as a collective effort by Kedar Jadhav and Shahbaz Nadeem saw India B lifting the trophy. © BCCL But, despite tasting defeat in the summit clash, Gill's ominous form in the recent past should lift his mood. The youngster had a productive series against South Africa A, slamming 187 runs in two first-class matches. He was also included in the Team India squad for the three-match Test series against South Africa. But, while Kohli & co romped to a 3-0 series triumph, Gill couldn't get a game. Despite struggling to find opportunities in a star-studded Team India brigade, Gill's performances, more recently in Deodhar Trophy, should strengthen his case for the national team's squad as selectors gear up to take their pick for the ICC World T20 in Australia next year. 16. The 90s and early 2000s in India was an era apart. New things were coming our way and the world was opening up, to us Indians. Influence of western culture was becoming a bit more obvious and we could see it trickle through popular culture every now and then. Our most favourable pastime though was music and since English music was pouring in immensely, India decided to dive into absolute music diversity and produce some excellent music. That's when the entire era of popular Indian music arose and we couldn't get enough of it! Remember Luky Ali's 'O Sanam'? © Sony Well, looking back at that time is just another way to welcome nostalgia back into our lives. The songs were superb and catchy, the videos spoke about heartache, young people in love, daring women or happy times and the people in the video were memorable to say the least. Both men and women alike pursuing a career in acting or modelling would be a part of these videos, and of course we would all crush on them mighty hard! Some of them stayed on to become popular actors, actresses or models while the rest remained a one-hit wonder. Here's reminiscing back in time when life was simpler, and just watching that one woman in that one video made our day! Here are six women from popular videos back in the 90s and early 2000s we wish we had amidst us, even today! (1) Nauheed Cyrusi © Sony Music Entertainment Recently I was going through my Instagram account and suddenly I saw this profile that looked so familiar. When I opened it, there was a sunken feeling of nostalgia within! It was the 'piya basanti' girl. Remember her? Well, I am sure the kids from the 90s will definitely remember her. Also, looks like, she was stuck in a time capsule because she hasn't aged a bit! © Instagram (2) Shyla Lopez © Vevo The surreal beauty, Shyla Lopez was a rage in the 90s when we first saw her in Shaan's song 'Meri Soni, Meri Tamanna'. After that, she went onto feature in many more videos, the most popular one being 'Baho mein chalein aayo', where she played a Rajasthani tribal woman. She was seriously the one and only fantasy for the 90s boys! We found her on the internet again and she looks as hot as ever. © Facebook (3) Sushma Reddy © Femina She was mostly made popular in Sonu Nigam videos back in the 90s. Girl with the beautiful smile, Sushma is Sameera and Meghna Reddy's sister, who first appeared in TV commercials before getting a gig in the pop video world. She also went on to become a VJ with Channel V when it was launched and also hosted a show on Discovery Travel and Living. She's done a bunch of movies and now she produces her own projects. © Facebook (4) Michelle Innes © Spny Music Ent This marvellous striking Anglo-Indian beauty from Allahabad was breathtaking when we first saw her in Sonu Nigam's 'Is Kadar Pyaar hai' and then again in Euphoria's 'Dhoom Picchuk Dhoom'. She appeared on the Vogue India's cover in 2007 when her modelling career was at its peak but apart from that, our only memory of her was from 'Dhoom Picchuk Dhoom' and we absolutely fell in love with her then! © BCCL (5) Meghna Naidu © Sony Actress Meghna Naidu became an overnight sensation in her hit video 'Kaliyon Ka Chaman', where she was seen in a backless almost see through sequential top, most women wouldn't dare to wear in the early 2000s! A game changing baller, she made the 2000s more daring for women and we love her for that. Currently she acts, travels and also teaches dance! © Instagram (6) Shefali Jariwala © YouTube If you don't know her then your early 2000's were an absolute waste! The 90s hangover lasted till about mid 2000s where pop culture was becoming more radical and thought-provoking with the changing narratives. Shefali was definitely one of the main protagonists for this change with her 'Kanta Laga' video which became so popular, people almost forgot the original song! Her outfit was her showing off her thong, while wearing a pair of denims but in reality, the thongs were a part of the denim! She became popular as the 'thong girl' right after she was featured in the video. © Instagram So, there you go. Six charming beautiful girls from the 90s and early 2000s we can never forget even though they're a one-hit wonders and here's hoping these songs remain on a loop in our head, for the rest of our lives!
  17. With the rising levels of pollution in the capital, the Delhi government has decided to implement the long gone odd-even scheme once again. It's also done to curb the traffic situation post festivities in the city and lord knows we need it, especially right now. Last time the odd-even scheme had a certain effect on the traffic and the air when it was implemented and this time around we hope it works even better. The scheme will be implanted from November 4 to November 15, 2019. © BCCL The first implementation of the scheme was in January 2016, and it was re-implemented again in April 2016 by the Aam Aadmi Party. Although the basic crux of the scheme remains the same, there are a few changes here and there you should know about before it comes into action from 8am to 8pm, every day. (1) Two-Wheelers Will Be Exempted All two-wheelers will be exempted from the rule, but only during peak hours - 8am to 11am and then again from 5pm to 8pm. Beyond these timings, the odd-even rule will be applied to two-wheelers too. So, if you commute by a two-wheeler on most days, make sure to do so during peak hours. © india Today (2) Women & People With Disabilities Exempted Women drivers, women driving with kids in their cars who are less than 12 YO, cars with all women occupants and people with disabilities are exempted from this scheme too. Maybe it's unfair for some of you, but that's the law! © New York Times (3) Private CNG Vehicles Will Not Be Exempted Unlike 2016, this time, private CNG vehicles will not be exempted from the odd-even scheme. © The Hindu (4) Vehicles From Outside Delhi Will Not Be Exempted Any car or even two-wheeler coming from outside Delhi, i.e. even Haryana and U.P. will not be exempted. Once you enter the city, the rules apply to any and every private vehicle. © BCCL (5) Vehicles Carrying School Kids Will Be Exempted Vehicles ferrying kids from schools will be exempted from the rule because kids are our future, so why not! © BCCL (6) Increase Of Violation Fine The New Motor Vehicle Act has stated that those not adhering to the new odd-even scheme will be fined INR 4,000, double of what was fined back in 2016. © Delhi Traffic Police Lastly, a good piece of news for frequent cab commuters, the cab aggregator Uber has decided to do away with surge pricing during the time the odd-even scheme is applicable! So, go crazy over booking an Uber and ditch your cars for a while.
  18. Avengers... assemble, once again? Even though Anthony Russo said that he isn't focussing on beating 'Avatar' to become the highest grossing movie ever just yesterday, looks like he didn't get his story with Kevin Feige straight. The Marvel boss made a pretty big announcement about 'Avengers: Endgame'. The much-anticipated movie came out on April 26th and earned over $2.4 billion but that's not enough. The movie is getting re-released next week with a post-credit scene and some deleted scenes, according to Kevin Feige. Talking to Screen Rant, he said, “Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theatres with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there'll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.” Is the tribute for Tony Stark? Could be. Probably. While it's still not clear if it's getting released in India again, but it will be great if it does. We can watch it again just before the release of 'Spiderman: Far From Home' and then mourn Tony along with Peter Parker all over again. Also, James Cameron should start working on his post when 'Endgame' finally beats 'Avatar' since this re-release will probably give the Marvel movie the push it needs to race to the finish line.
  19. The world's largest exercise in democracy, the Indian Lok Sabha election is also, in a lot of ways, the desi 'Game of Thrones' (minus the dragons and the white walkers, of course). There's violence, there's dirty politics, there's triumph, and then there's the inevitable heartbreak of defeat. One particular independent candidate, from Punjab, became the national face of such misfortune this year, when he broke down in tears in front of cameras during vote counting on Thursday. A sobbing Neetu told local television channels that he had received only five votes, which was especially painful, when nine people from his own family had also voted. © Google Election Analysis Turns out, that wrong information was supplied to him in the heat of the moment, and he eventually ended up with many more than nine – precisely 856, votes. His elder brother Vimal Kumar told MensXP that Neetu was repeatedly trying to access the polling booth on Thursday, but was shooed away by the security personnel, saying that he had received just five votes. This led to him having a meltdown. “He has complete support from the family,” Kumar tells us, “and everyone, including our uncles and the extended family, has voted for him.” Neetu, as suggested by his titular suffix, owns a workshop that manufactures shutters and grills for shops. His election affidavit states that he is illiterate and hasn't had the privilege to an education According to his brother, Neetu has been a godfather to many poor and helpless people of Jalandhar, who have found themselves treated unfairly by the authorities. “Everyone in the city knows my brother very well. His agenda in the election was to fight against corruption, if elected, and to continue helping the poor. He also wanted to champion the cause of generating more employment along with developing Jalandhar and working for the common man,” said Kumar. On Friday, the morning after the final results were announced, Neetu failed to show up at his shop. He's obviously been low since last evening, and has not been able to accept the turn of events from the previous day, says Kumar. “I tried to console him but he'll take his own time. It's all a part and parcel of the game”. When asked about Neetu's political aspirations, Kumar told us that his brother will contest in the next Vidhan Sabha polls. And why not; he definitely has more support than he did 24 hours back. You go Neetu!
  20. It's always a given that you can have your cake and eat it too. Apart from being an idiom, it's quite literal as well. I mean that's what you do on your birthday mostly, isn't it? Well, you can do that, but in Gujarat you can't smear someone's face with cake in public and if you're caught doing that, you go to jail. © Pintrest After the PUBG ban, the Surat police has decide to ban cake smearing acts in public, as it's become a nuisance every passing day, as birthday celebrations are starting to turn violent. Along with cake smearing, using adhesive tapes and chemical foam in public is banned too, which people are currently and openly indulging in, on birthdays. We're guessing the usual birthday trend in Gujarat got a tad boring for people to use other means to bring in the celebrations. © Pintrest However, lawyer Apar Gupta, who has a copy of the order, translated in English from Gujarati, says this order is worrisome and has stated his reasons, as to why. The Surat Police has now banned smearing of cakes in public under Section 144 of the CRPC. This comes after the use of the same provision to ban PUBG game and the arrest of young college going students. Can someone translate the order to English? pic.twitter.com/llDQTeW4W9 — Apar Gupta (@apargupta84) 15 May 2019 A translation has been provided and it is pointed out that cake smearing is tied to injury and public nuisance. A summary is below. Let me at the same time point why this is still worrisome. https://t.co/jgCjLv0pqC — Apar Gupta (@apargupta84) 15 May 2019 1. Expansion of police power: Section 144 is titled as, "power to issue order in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger". It is an emergency/curfew power intended against unlawful assembly. One must ask is, "immediate prevention or speedy remedy is desireable" ? — Apar Gupta (@apargupta84) 15 May 2019 2. Pre-existence of criminal laws/muncipal codes: Provisions under the IPC contain specific crimes for assault, battery and simple hurt. Further most muncipal codes (this may vary in gujarat) prevent littering and impose fines. Such provisions have well articulated ingredients. — Apar Gupta (@apargupta84) 15 May 2019 3. The proportion of the cake smearing: As pointed out by many, the proportion of the language prohibiting cake smearing is tiny when compared to the thrust of the order. However, such passing language itself due to its lack of articulation may lead to arbitrary application. — Apar Gupta (@apargupta84) 15 May 2019 Taken collectively, one has to ask -- whether an expansion of police powers under Section 144 when pre-existing, well reasoned laws exist to prohibit cake smearing in public is something that should be tolerable? We will get not only the politicians but the policing we deserve. — Apar Gupta (@apargupta84) 15 May 2019 "Taken collectively, one has to ask -- whether an expansion of police powers under Section 144 when pre-existing, well reasoned laws exist to prohibit cake smearing in public is something that should be tolerable? We will get not only the politicians but the policing we deserve" Apar Gupta, Lawyer Our main concern though is the adhesive tape and chemical foam that's used on people's faces to celebrate birthdays. Shouldn't that be the primary concern and not cake smearing, which is indeed harmless? I mean, if people are injuring the other person by smearing cake, that's another story altogether, but if they're doing it out of sheer jest, I guess it should be okay! But honestly, cake definitely shouldn't be wasted by smearing it on someone's face! © Twitter "Do you really think it will make a difference in Gujarat to ban anything further? We all have the facts and figures, don't we? Any forceful act whether it is ragging or eve teasing is fallacious but does that mean the state will ban something as basic as playing PUBG or smearing cake on someone's face for fun?" - Ankita, Asst. MArketing & communications manager, Ahmedabad Surat Police Commissioner, Satish Sharma issued the prohibitory orders on Monday, after various accounts of aggressive and violent behaviour came to light. Aren't there existing laws to tackle violence? How come Surat police is acting like a law maker? — ishan aranjikal (@ishotu) 15 May 2019 Surat is practically a police state after 23:30. With their need to regulate everything, I was expecting this to happen. — bhas kar-wai (@bolnabey) 15 May 2019 The cake bit comes at the end. They're talking about students putting cello tape on other's face, and applying some sort of chemical. That seems the primary concern, and then they talk about smearing cake. — Pratik Sinha (@free_thinker) 15 May 2019 Its about beating someone in the name of "birthday bumps", smashing cakes, foams and other forms of material which creates nuisance at public space like roads, bus stop, brts stops etc. Its for creating "mess" and also "bad behaviour" in public spaces. — BD (@BDsVouch) 15 May 2019 To summarize, it's an order against public nuisance which can harm those involved. Detailed summary in pic. Cake smearing is a tiny part. Bulk is against public celebration and usage of chemicals, tape & foam directly applied to the face. pic.twitter.com/sKOe1C38Nu — Harshal Modi (@grondmaster) 15 May 2019 According to TOI, section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been set in motion from May 14, to July 12. “We received information about incidents in which individuals suffered injuries in a birthday celebration,” Satish Sharma told Times of India. It's a little sad that birthdays will have to go traditional again, with no cake touching any part of anyone's face but maybe to tackle aggressiveness in the state because of it, this step was imperative. Well, I guess people should just stick to old-school and just feed each other cake instead of smearing it on faces.
  21. The Madras High Court today lifted the ban on TikTok, a video-streaming app which was blocked by Google and Apple on their app stores more than a week ago. Yes, it means the app will now soon be available for download again in the country. Following yesterday's Supreme Court order directing the High Court to decide on the question of the interim relief of the app, the matter was taken up today and the Bench of justice N Kirubakaran and SS Sundar lifted the ban after hearing TikTok's submissions. © Tik Tok Senior Advocate Isaac Mohanlal appeared in court for TikTok and noted that there is a technology in place to ensure that no nude/ obscene content is uploaded through the app. Additionally, TikTok also made submissions on the steps taken to counter the issues raised by the court following the ban. It is, however, worth pointing out that the app is not yet available for download. But it's only a matter of time until we start seeing the app on both the Google Play Store and App Store. So, brace yourself, the crying TikTok boys are going to be back again.
  22. Are you sad because the next season of your favourite series is a long time away and you won't be able to see your favourite character for months together? We get you! 2018 brought a lot of great shows with it. Netflix India's first original series, 'Sacred Games', got viewers hooked with its dark, ominous theme and riveting storyline and broke various records in the streaming service arena. The whole country waited with bated breath for Sartaj Singh to find the true culprit and the secrets they had buried. © Phantom Films/Netflix Many new shows graced the screen, old shows came back starring our adored and abhorred characters; 'Stranger Things' was back for Round 2 and so was Midge Maisel (but on the stage). Unfortunately, Dany didn't return last year to treat us with a dragon sighting, though she will do so this year with Jon by her side. © Netflix /21 Laps Entertainment © Amazon Video/Amazon Studios/Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions We found a few favourites like Bunty from 'Sacred Games' with his omnipresent chhatri and Ganesh Gaitonde who showed us that love should know no bounds. Kukko made a fantastic statement for queer representation on TV. © Phantom Films/Netflix © Phantom Films/Netflix 'Mirzapur', Amazon Prime Video India's answer to 'Sacred Games', with its violent and wicked storyline focusing on arms trafficking, found favor with the audience (but not as much as 'Sacred Games'). With memes galore and unending praise for the characters, 2018 was a surefire year for storytelling and unique characters. I think fictional characters have the best life; they live on in the minds of people long after they have gone away. Talking about characters in these shows, we were provided with a plethora of options which made choosing something to watch extremely difficult and taxing. But the bingers we are, we devoured all these shows like Cersei does with her wine or Ethan did with that chocolate bar on Yom Kippur. 2019 has to carry the legacy of its predecessor and continue the stories of the characters we saw on screen and fell in love with; some good, some bad and some completely mad. With speculations and predictions running high, here are 10 such characters whose life stories we are looking forward to in 2019: Note: Spoilers ahead. This post is chock-block of spoilers. Read at your own risk: 1. Sartaj Singh (Sacred Games): Troubled cop Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) had a major breakthrough in the final episode of Season 1. Sartaj has gone from strength to strength and grown into a more confident person, a departure from his personality in Episode 1. Now that he has unearthed the secret of the arms trade connected to the Home Minister, what other corruption and crime scams will he uncover? Will he be able to find out who Zoya is? © Phantom Films/Netflix Let's hope he finds out the true motive behind his father's softness for Gaitonde. The more important question is: How is he dealing with Katekar's death? :P Now that has a clear idea of what is to come, will he be able to save the city before it's too late? Seeing that he has only 14 days to do the impossible, we hope that Sartaj's newfound self-assurance works well for him and the people who might be in the danger of a nuclear war. 2. Guruji (Sacred Games): Will the elusive Guruji (Pankaj Tripathi) finally get more time screen? Gaitonde's (supposed?) death qualifies Guruji to become the lead villain in the series. What heinous plans does he have in mind for Mumbai now and will his masterplan work? The curious iconography that Sartaj uncovers is a symbol of Guruji. What does the mandala entail? Does it have a more sinister connotation than hinted? Does he have any links to Zoya Mirza? © Phantom Films/Netflix Gaitonde's third father figure is said to have a meatier part in Season 2. Let's wait to see what fresh hell he has planned for us to witness. 3. Midge Maisel and Susie Myerson (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel): The quirky Mrs. Maisel is coming back with a bang! Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) seems to have finally found a break; she will be opening for singer Shy Baldwin. Now that her family has been let on to the secret, will Midge be attuned to spreading her horizons? How is that going to affect her newly-turned, gone “full-on breaking bad” father, Abe Weissman and her delightfully neurotic momzilla, Rose? What about Benjamin? Will he return to Midge's life? We would love to see how that unfurls. The last episode left out a lot of strings to be tied. An important arc to be seen is whether Midge will get back together with Joel. © Amazon Video/Amazon Studios/Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions Like Midge, Susie's life seems to be going to a better place. After her altercation with Sophie Lennon, she gets an offer by Sophie to represent her. The image of Susie (Alex Borstein) in a fur coat walking out of Sophie's house with a bewildered expression is the best part of Season 2. Will she accept the offer, or has she done it already? The dynamic in their relationship seems to be a tad bit bitter and we hope we get to see the drama that it will lead to in Season 3. Will Susie and Midge finally be able to earn some money and become famous? We just hope. 4. Ganesh Gaitonde (Sacred Games): Is he really dead or did he have a sort of resurrection planned with Guruji? What was his bunker really for? © Phantom Films/Netflix Whatever he had planned seems to have gone horribly wrong. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to return as the OG underbelly king, whether he will tell his story from behind the grave is still uncertain, though we will like to see more of Gaitonde and the story of his rise to power and the years before he returns, after being kidnapped. Also, what was his relationship with Sartaj's father? In any case, Ganesh Gaitonde is one of the most anticipated characters to return to screen in 2019 and people can hardly wait. 5. Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and the Lannister siblings (Game of Thrones): The highly anticipated last season of the show is sure to be the best of the lot. There is a myriad of characters whose storylines intersect and make the intense puzzle complete, but it is these five who are hell-bent on conquering the throne. Jon's arc which has been highlighted since the beginning has become more invigorating. Now that he has sought an alliance with Daenerys, it will be interesting to see how the next events pan out. Will he be able to defeat the Night King? © HBO What will happen when he finds out his true origin of being Aegon Targaryen? Daenerys has always wanted to become the Queen, but how will it affect her stature now that there's another Targaryen alive? That too, her nephew and lover! With one of her dragons on the Night King's side, how will she cope with fighting one of her babies? We already know now that Sansa isn't a great fan of Dany. Things look dismal for her. What is up with Tyrion and his odd behaviour? Are his loyalties shifting? Jaime has left the comfort of the Red Keep and is travelling North. Now that Jaime has left his sister's side will he be joining the Starks? Wine connoisseur, Queen Cersei seems to be content with her illegitimate capture of the throne, but distress has found her in the form of her brother and lover, Jaime leaving her. Is it really Jaime's baby that she is carrying or is it a hoax? Will she actually help fight the war against the White Walkers? Well, we can only know in April. 6. The Gang in Stranger Things (Stranger Things): Eleven is back with the nerd gang of Hawkins and everything seems to be going well. Except, everything is going to change. With Will Byers still afraid after his stint with the monster from Upside Down, Jonathan and Nancy starting a relationship, the story is delving deeper into the sleepy town. Michael is happy, so does Lucas with Max. Everyone seems to be calm. But is it the indication of the storm to come? Important question: What about the mother hen of the group, Steve Harrington? And is he going to try to win Nancy back? We love a love triangle a-brewing. © Netflix/21 Laps Entertainment I hope there are a lot of precious scenes which show the camaraderie and bromance between Steve and Dustin grow even more. Perhaps, he'll teach him how to babysit with perfection! :P Will Hopper and Joyce get together finally? Will Will ever be able to defeat the Demogorgon? One of the most exciting series on the list for sure with the quirkiest of characters. 7. Anne Shirley-Cuthbert (Anne with an E): Anne seems to be growing into quite the intelligent young woman, along with the support of her friends and family. Will we finally see Anne breaking off from her terrible past, whose flashbacks still haunt her? We need to see that. The third season is likely to focus on her education and the other perils growing up brings with it. Just imagine how many fancy, grandiose words she must have learnt, and written the most beautiful of stories. Her budding friendship with Gilbert Blythe is also an important storyline which will be pursued. Also, the chemistry between Anne and Diana is a treat to watch; I suspect both will cook up some new mischief in Green Gables, aided by Jerry. We also want Cole to be back! © Netflix/CBC Watching her grow and prosper, from the young, afraid orphan into the apple of the eyes of Avonlea's people, makes you root for her more strongly. With her radical thinking and unbending spirit, we do hope Anne goes on to become the Anne we love from the books. Coming back in 2019, Anne will be 16 and ready to follow her own path; perhaps she will become like Miss Stacy or an author. 8. Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret (The Crown): Claire Foy's farewell (which was sad, and I still can't believe they replaced her and the other actors) from the show has paved way for Olivia Coleman's reign as the Sovereign. We will see Queen Elizabeth II in her middle-age and how far she has come in her role of safeguarding the Crown. A more mature Elizabeth is sure to change a lot of things around (we hope the Corgis make a comeback :P) and must have become mellower, but only in appearance, not in spirit. Interesting to watch will be her dynamic with the new, female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and the unofficial feud which they were rumoured to have. © Netflix/Sony Pictures Television Another intriguing arc will be her growth in her role as Queen and her relationship with her husband which seemed strained in the last season, and her children and their partners, especially Princess Diana. A character who will play a pivotal role hereafter is the willful Princess Margaret (Helena Bonham Carter, previously played by Vanessa Kirby), with her very public divorce to Lord Snowdon. Another blow to the already frail royalty. Carter is sure to play the character with her trademark finesse. © Netflix/Sony Pictures Television 9. Sheila and Joel (Santa Clarita Diet): Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore) is still a zombie at the end of Season 2 and there seems to be no cure for it. Joel (Timothy Olyphant) has tried everything in his power to bring her back to her human form but seems to have made peace with the fact that it may not happen. © Netflix So, we hope Sheila remains a zombie for the next season as well and carries on her spirited “criminal hunt-and-eat extravaganza”, with perennial support from the ever-dependable Joel Now that she has a devotee in the form of the police chief Anne, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Will she be able to connect with her daughter Abby, all eccentricities aside? Will Joel ever get his human Sheila back? Wait and watch! 10. Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher): Starring (ex)Superman Henry Cavill, this Netflix original is based on The Witcher book series. Henry looks menacing as Geralt, and rightly so since he plays a monster hunter. The series will chronicle his life as a lonely hunter in the Continent, helping people get rid of monsters, eventually falling in love with the beautiful sorceress, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and adopting Princess Ciri who has a terrible secret which will change his life. © Netflix/Kapital Entertainment We eagerly wait for Cavill, with his charismatic presence to enthral us by portraying a character we love. The amount of time awaiting these characters to grace the screen seems like an eternity. So, which one of them are you waiting for? :D
  23. You would have seen bodybuilders walk around the gym with a gallon flask of coloured water in the gym. You must have watched videos of bodybuilders and fitness YouTubers/Instagram influencers preach BCAAs in their top 3 supplements to gain muscle. Or to maintain muscle during a fat loss phase. (And they stick a discount code where they get a kickback) via GIPHY Seeing this, you invest a few thousand bucks in a supplement that says build muscle, burn fat, etc. on the label. You start expecting incredible results. You finish the entire supplement. And nothing happens... If you're smart enough, you have read my article on BCAAs and stopped buying them altogether. Or you can still believe that they will help you preserve muscle doing fasted training and keep consuming it as it keeps you anabolic. You should not, though. Know why? Well, because it's nothing but a joke. Here's why: To build muscle, you need protein. Everyone knows that. Even the most uninformed trainer will stress the importance of protein. via GIPHY Protein is made up of 22 amino acids structurally, 9 of them are essential (they need to be consumed via your diet) and the others, non-essential. BCAAs are three essential amino acids. They are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. The reason BCAAs have become popular is that they contain the amino acid that triggers muscle protein synthesis. Namely, leucine. To build muscle, you need all the essential amino acids and not just the BCAAs. Supplementing only 3 of it does not help. Now, if you're training fasted and consuming BCAAs, the body will kick-start MPS. It still won't be able to carry out the process as the other 6 EAAs (essential amino acids) are missing. Your body will pull these 6 essential amino acids from the amino acid pool in your body. This, in turn, will lead to a decrease in the free amino acids in the amino acid pool and promote protein breakdown over time. Consuming BCAAs have also shown to reduce your muscle protein synthesis rates with time. Simply put, you will lose muscle in the long run if you are training fasted and consuming BCAAs. How to solve this problem? 1. Stop consuming BCAAs. Just ensure you're hitting adequate protein intake for the day Studies have shown that when compared like for like, Whey protein does a far superior job than BCAAs and EAAs in increasing the muscle protein synthesis rates. via GIPHY Prioritize your diet and get adequate protein from your food. If that is not possible, supplement with Whey protein. 2. Stop training fasted. There are literally no benefits to it Data points out that when comparing fasted vs fed training, there are no additional benefits to fat loss or muscle gain when nutrition and training are matched. If you are training fasted for additional benefits, they simply do not exist. BCAAs also have calories. So if you consume BCAAs, you are breaking your fast. Instead, have a small protein meal or a protein shake. 3. Just consume a protein shake if you train early in the morning and don't like having a solid meal via GIPHY That is what Whey protein is for. Simplicity and convenience. Use it that way. Again, it is not the Whey that will benefit you. It is the total protein intake for the day. Stop wasting your money on BCAAs. 24. If you've ever found yourself in a situation where no matter how hard you try, your pictures end up looking greasy and oily, here's how you can fix it. Being excessively oily or greasy in the Summer heat is super normal however: 1. Have You Heard About A Mattifying Moisturizer? © Getty Images Moisturizers can sometimes make you sweat like if the product is dense, heavy, and oily, it's going to make the greasy situation worse. Instead, a lightweight, fast-absorbing moisturizer allows the pores to breathe easily. 2. Or Switch To A Face Oil Instead Of A Moisturizer © Getty Images A face oil might absorb the skin residue lightly and quickly and your skin in turn produces less oil because it registers the oily levels of the skin as sufficient. Essential oils like squalene, rose hip oil and sea buckthorn oil help moisturize the face. 3. Get Acquainted With A Toner © Getty Images Skin toners have ingredients like witch hazel that attempt to reduce oil production in the skin without drying it out (avoid alcohol-based astringents). 4. Keep A Few Face Wipes Handy © Getty Images Oil builds up throughout the day but if you're in a situation where you're in no position to wash your face, it's always helpful to stock up on refreshing, skin-toning face wipes that absorb excess grime and oil, while invigorating the face at the same time. 5. Do A Weekly Mud Mask © Getty Images The clay or mud in any mask will soak all impurities and gunk from the pores, preventing breakouts and reducing shine. Blue Lagoon's Silica Mud Mask takes ingredients from the famed geothermal waters of Iceland to shrink pores, absorb grease, and give you a reset. Don't do it more than once a week, though, because your skin can in turn dry out. You need some oil in there to keep yourself hydrated. A weekly deep clean will do you go, so long as you follow with a cleanser and moisturizer.
  25. Falling in love is the only feeling which has so many connotations attached to it. Sometimes it's beautiful, sometimes there's a lot of remorse and sometimes there is fear and anguish which is ineffable but within all these connotations, love is eternally beautiful because it works on a very personal level, for everyone on this planet. It's the basic texture that binds anything together and definitely the most inexplicable emotion to encounter. © Eros International The most garnered emotion through love in today's day and age though is the amount of hurt it can cause someone who's experienced it. That's what love is defined as now and it's quite sad, to be honest. Hurt has sadly become a by-product of love, leaving many individuals scarred for life, to even want to experience it again. But like they say, you can't help when you fall in love with someone and if that's the case with you, you have to let all the fears and inhibitions seep through to start fresh with someone new. So, in case you're wondering how to do that, here are 3 most obvious questions to ask yourself if you're scared of falling in love with someone, again. Do You See Yourself All Alone In The Future? If you've been hurt so bad that you can't conjure the courage to love again, then maybe you feel you're not in the right mind frame to find love again in anyone ever. But you need to ask yourself if you think you want that as a permanent fixture in your life. Everyone longs for companionship at some point in time in their lives. Are you willing to see yourself without company for good? If you think the answer is yes, then that's alright. If the answer is no, here's a chance to open up a bit more for some brighter and more positive prospects, where love is concerned while giving yourself time to heal. © Pintrest Have You Given It Enough Time? Maybe you're scared because you haven't given your hurt much time. Your last relationship was so tedious, it broke you and now you've met someone who's giving you the comfort you deserve but it's all too soon and you're scared they might hurt you too. Well, the key here is to give it enough time for you to heal from the hurt. It's like a wound that keeps getting scratched instead of healing and disappearing. If you don't give yourself enough time to heal and move on, you'll hold on to your past and wreck your present. © Eros International Have You Learnt From Your Hurt? No matter how badly you're hurt and scared of love again, there are some remarkable lessons you can learn from your experience. Only these lessons will push you forward to change and undergo a certain type of metamorphosis. For instance, if you were hurt in the past, you slowly realise that you probably let yourself be that naive or that sensitive to accumulate that hurt within you. You'll be better prepared if you go through something similar if at all, again. Every hurt teaches you something and lets your fear dissipate, slowly. © Eros International These three questions are very pertinent to decide if you're ready to take the leap again. If you have even an iota of fear residing within you, concerning love, then ask yourself these questions again.
