  1. If there is one English Premier League side that has underachieved in Europe, it has to be Arsenal. The North London club claims 'London Is Red' but has so far, failed to make the same statement in Europe. Currently competing in UEFA's second-tier competition- Europa League, Arsenal had a fairly easy group stage run, winning five and drawing one out of their six matches. The Gunners were confident of their chances for qualification in Round-Of-16 when they were drawn against the Belarusian side, BATE Borisov. But last night turned out to be a different story, as BATE beat Arsenal 1-0 after Stanislaw Drahun scored with a header right at the stroke of halftime. Though Arsenal came close to scoring on various occasions, they failed to make their chances pay. This shocking defeat came against a team that hasn't even kicked a ball since December 6. All this and Alexander Lacazette's red card in the closing stages of the game sent Arsenal fans into a frenzy, leading to some hilarious Twitter reactions Arsenal Fan Tv & Chill #Arsenal fan tv tonight be likeððððð¥ð¥ð¥ #BateArsenal #emeryout pic.twitter.com/bnq6HbeTmO — UnitedTrinity68 (@UnitedTrinity68) February 14, 2019 Wiki-Edits Are So Underrated Arsenal losing to a factory club. 2. Arguably one the biggest and most prestigious football clubs in the world, Arsenal is currently evolving under the structure of new coach Unai Emery, who replaced long-serving Arsene Wenger last year. The former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager has struck a chord with the fans and continues to strive for the club's success. However, the recent times are proving to be really tough for the Gunners and their fans. Their chase to finish in the top four was dealt with a major blow after the likes of Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis Papastathopoulos were recently injured. Moreover, their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup on 26th January also dampened the mood in the Arsenal camp. But, just when you thought their troubles were over, the Gunners and their fans found a new one thanks to Esha Gupta - the Arsenal club ambassador. Instagram/@egupta The Bollywood actress, who earlier dated Bellerin, stirred up a storm after a Whatsapp conversation with her friend surfaced on social media. The social media was abuzz and football fans up in arms as a snapshot of her conversation compared Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi to a gorilla. Instagram/@egupta Following the Gunners' FA Cup loss to United, the 33-year-old shared a screenshot of her conversation with a friend on Instagram as one of her stories. "Solves our winger issues. I can't see that gorilla faced Iwobi running down the flank again. He's so bad ya," her friend wrote. To which, Esha replied: "Hahahahahaha...I honestly dunno why they don't bench him more". The former Miss India International winner deleted the post, but the fans were not impressed by the antics of their club ambassador. Following a lot of backlash on the social media, Esha issued an apology, but it was a tad too late to undo the damage. Guys m sorry you thought it was racist. Was bad on my part, being a sports lover. Wallah never meant it. Sorry guys forgive the stupidity ðð½ #gooner4life — Esha Gupta (@eshagupta2811) January 27, 2019 "Guys m sorry you thought it was racist. Was bad on my part, being a sports lover. It was us discussing our frustration during the game.sorry as I din realise it directed towards racism.laughed over the spur of the moment, which was the games result guys.been victim of racism myself before. But this is not something m proud of. It was a fault, sorry guys — Esha Gupta (@eshagupta2811) January 27, 2019 "It was us discussing our frustration during the game. sorry as I din realise it directed towards racism. laughed over the spur of the moment, which was the games result guys. been victim of racism myself before. But this is not something m proud of. It was a fault, sorry guys," she wrote in another tweet. But, Arsenal fans were in no mood to forgive as they slammed the actress for her "ignorance" and called her out for being a "racist". Your response is embarrassing! You state on one hand you've suffered racism yet on the other have no idea that you've made a racial slur! Your ignorance and arrogance of this whole situation is beyond words! Please remove gooner from your profile! Your not part of our club/family — Keiron Batchelor (@keiron85) January 27, 2019 I'm extremely proud to be a supporter of a club that has historically been at the forefront of the fight against racism and homophobia that are so prevalent in the game even today. You've failed that legacy. You need to resign. You're no ambassador for our club's values. — Chris (@KrimboSausage) January 28, 2019 Hold these L's and apologise to @alexiwobi and to @Arsenal pic.twitter.com/ixXrQBsdT2 — Dave O (@DUO84) January 27, 2019 See now, we don't want to kill you over it but the fact that you could laugh at him being called gorilla faced and then uploading it on spur of the moment, being the ambassador of the club isn't worth an apology. That is actually the worst thing you could do for the Indian fanbse — Kushagra Jain (@kushagrajainn) January 27, 2019 Do us all a favour and never step foot at arsenal and take the word gooner out your biog as you def ain't one of us — Football Dad (@FootballDadUK) January 27, 2019 I have no idea who you are but shocked to learn you are an ambassador for the club .@Arsenal get this hate out of our club !!! — Leroy Tyson (@LTyspn) January 27, 2019 Please do not associate with our club. If you are a true gunner you will stand down and respect others around you. ESPECIALLY IWOBI — William (@William17384989) January 27, 2019
  3. On 29th December 2017, Malappuram's Inzamam Ul-Haq and Fidha Sanam named their newborn after former German midfielder and Arsenal footballer Mesut Ozil. The club made a video with the child's father and uploaded it on their social media handles titled 'A story of a special young fan from Kerala', which got around 1.8 million views and caught the superstar's attention himself. “I have always been an Arsenal fan, the mighty team which included French legend Thierry Henry attracted me towards the club since my school days,” Inzamam told News18. One year later, the die-hard fan of the Gunners was surprised with a gift from Ozil himself. The German had sent a personally autographed Arsenal jersey for his namesake to celebrate his first birthday. Arsenal FC also uploaded a video montage on their Facebook page, in which the midfielder wisheD the boy a happy birthday and thanked the family for being true fans of the club. Overwhelmed with excitement, Inzamam says that the jersey was a gift for all the Arsenal fans in India. “This means a lot to us. You will always be in our prayers and we wish to see you soon,” he said in the video. Arsenal FC, which is currently ranked fifth in the Premier League with 19 points, has a subsidiary organisation in Thrissur, Kerala by the name of Arsenal Kerala Football Club (AKFC) to which the jersey was sent directly from the football star. We are really happy now as our little Ozil is going to celebrate his birthday on Sunday. I don't know how to express my happiness now,” Inzamam told Times of India.
