  1. Pakistan's star athlete has returned home after winning a gold medal in the Islamic Solidarity Games, Konya
  2. Arshad Nadeem rose to prominence last year when he qualified for final of Tokyo Olympics, becoming first Pakistani athlete to compete in final of any track and field event in Olympic history
  3. There are a lot of reasons why actor Arshad Warsi is the absolute best. He is a great comic, a brilliant actor, a humble person and well, he is Circuit (from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S). However, his honesty tops it all. He recently demonstrated how cool he is in an interview where a journalist called his latest release Bachchhan Paandey, a box office success and he called out the 'lie'. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi “Don’t lie, it is not a success,” he said quickly, correcting the journalist. If there was any other actor in his place, he would have just gone with it but Warsi is too grounded to let it pass. In a world where stars throw success parties for their flop films (*coughs*Gehraiyaan*coughs*), here is one who doesn’t have to hide behind the superficial success. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi He added, “It was a good film, but unfortunately it happened, some things work, some things don’t. I feel it just went through a bad patch, there were various things that made it not as successful as it should have been. It is a big film, it should’ve made a lot more money, but it is still not a loss, it covered its money.” View this post on Instagram Warsi plays Vishu Kant Mhatre, Kriti Sanon’s friend in the action flick who helps her in tracking getting close to gangster Bachchhan Paandey for her movie. It was his first film after a two-year gap after Durgamati. View this post on Instagram Upon being asked if the reason that the film didn’t do well was that it was released in theatres and not on OTT platforms, Warsi said, “No, I don’t think it is the OTT effect. Okay, I’ve got an answer for that, but I’m not going to say it. Let's not get into it, it is a different space.” View this post on InstagramWe wonder what he was going to say about why the film didn’t work. Maybe being too honest is also not good and Arshad Warsi knows it all too well. View the full article
  4. Arshad Warsi is one Bollywood actor who knows how to play funny and serious characters really, really well. No one can deny that Arshad's comic timing is brilliant which is the reason we love watching so many of his movies including Rohit Shetty's Golmaal series. © Prime Video Now, while Arshad has had his fair share of ups and downs in his Bollywood career, he's done a lot of great movies. Not just that, the actor has even done web series with Asur being one the critically rated TV shows. Talking about some of his iconic roles, we can't take out his character of Circuit from Munnabhai MBBS that starred Sanjay Dutt. © Netflix He played the character so well that we remember the movie for him as much as we do for Sanju baba! However, Arshad recently shared his thoughts on the role and even went to the extent of calling it 'stupid'. Well, here is what he said. “I did Munna Bhai because it was Sanju (Sanjay Dutt), otherwise even Raju (filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani) knows that it is a stupid role. It really is on paper, it was nothing. Even Makarand Deshpande had said no to Circuit!” he said while speaking to the Indian Express. Arshad's portrayal of Sarkeshwar "Circuit" Sharma in the 2003 film got him a lot of popularity with fans with the actor even winning a Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actor in Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006). The actor also revealed what are the factors he considers while taking up movie projects. “I listen to any script purely as an audience member. Would I want to see what I am doing? It can be any genre, it could be anything, but it should be something the audience would like to watch. After listening to the story, it is your gut feeling that tells you if you want to do that film or not.” Arshad will now be seen alongside Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Kriti Sanon in Bachchhan Pandey which is set to release on March 18 on Holi. © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment The Farhad Samji's directorial also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, and Abhimanyu Singh. 5. Ahead of the release of their film Bachchhan Paandey, Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi along with Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and director Farhad Samji attended a press conference. During the presscon, Akshay was asked to say a few words about his experience of working with Arshad Warsi. Talking about Arshad, Akshay said, “Arshad miyan ke baare mein main yeh kahoonga ki sabse pehle experience raha ki jab meri Jolly LLB release hone waali thi.. (I’d say about Arshad that my experience with him was when my Jolly LLB was about to release…)” Arshad then interrupted Akshay as he quipped, “Meri Jolly LLB, you mean… (You mean, my Jolly LLB)” leaving everyone present at the event in splits. © Viral Bollywood YouTube He then went and hugged Akshay while laughing as the latter continued, “Meri Jolly LLB jab release hone waali toh logo ne likh diya ki hum dono ka jhagda hai. Main isse baat kar raha tha kyunki jab main karne bhi waala tha movie tab bhi maine isse baat ki thi right? Toh main yehi dekh raha tha ki kaise log kuch bhi likh dete hain. Bina kuch jaane. Un logon ne yeh socha hoga chalo yeh Jolly LLB 2 kar raha hai toh zaroor inka jhagda laga do. Toh yeh experience yahaan se shuru hua tha aur bahut hi mazakiya kism ke insaan hain yeh. Hamesh haste rehte hain, muskurate rehte hain. Kabhi bhi inki zindagi mein koi dull moment nahin raha aur khaane peene ka bahut shauk rakhte hain. Bahut hi mazaa aaya inke saath kaam karke and I hope I will be working with him again. (Before the release of my Jolly LLB, the media wrote about our feud which wasn’t true. In fact, I had called him before signing the film. He is extremely funny and always has a smile on his face. There is not a single dull moment when he is around and I hope we work together in future again).” Watch the video below: Released in 2013, Jolly LLB starred Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Amrita Rao and Saurabh Shukla. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the film opened to positive reviews and turned out to be the surprise hit of the year. © Fox Star Studios However, in 2017, for its sequel, Jolly LLB 2, makers replaced Arshad with Akshay Kumar and roped in Huma Qureshi and Annu Kapoor while Saurabh Shukla returned to the franchise. © Fox Star Studios The sequel too was helmed by Subhash Kapoor and was even a bigger hit than the original. 6. After being a background dancer and a choreographer, Arshad Warsi finally made his acting debut in the year 1996 with Tere Mere Sapne produced by Amitabh Bachchan & Jaya Bachchan’s ABCL. At a recent press conference for his upcoming film Bachchhan Paandey, Arshad Warsi along with Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Farhad Samji were asked about their godfathers in the Hindi film industry. Arshad named Amitabh Bachchan and Tere Mere Sapne director Joy Augustine and went on to add that they “abandoned” him. © ABCL He said, “I would say Mr B (Amitabh Bachchan). I started my career with ABCL, Joy Augustine, they got me into the profession. But then they left me, abandoned me. So, I don't know what to call them. Godfather or what, I don't know”. Take a look at the video below: Amitabh Bachchan had started ABCL or Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd and the first Hindi film he produced under his banner was Tere Mere Sapne. Besides Arshad Warsi, the film also featured Chandrachur Singh, Priya Gill and Simran Bagga. Answering the same question, Jacqueline Fernandez called filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh her godfather for launching her in Bollywood with the 2009 film Aladin alongside Riteish Deshmukh, Amitabh Bachchan & Sanjay Dutt. Akshay Kumar called filmmaker Pramod Chakraborty and his makeup man who introduced him to the filmmaker. Kriti, on the other hand, named multiple people who have helped shape her career including Sajid Nadiadwala, Sabbir Khan and Dinesh Vijan. Farhad Samji credited Salman Khan for giving him work as a lyricist, Rohit Shetty for hiring him as a writer and Akshay Kumar for putting his faith in him as a filmmaker. © Twitter/Arshad Warsi As for Bachchhan Paandey, the film is a remake of Telugu hit Jigarthanda. It features Akshay Kumar as a gangster, Kriti Sanon as a struggling filmmaker and Arshad Warsi as a small-time actor. The Farhad Samji directorial is slated to release on March 18. 7. Amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Bollywood Arshad Warsi took to Twitter and shared a video meme from his 2006 cult comedy Golmaal: Fun Unlimited. Explaining the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Arshad tweeted, “Self explanatory… Golmaal was way ahead of its time….” The video features a scene from the film where Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi and Ajay Devgn are walking towards Rimi Sen unaware of the Vasooli’s presence on their way. In the video, Sharman is labelled as America, Arshad as Ukraine, Ajay as Germany and Mukesh Tiwari’s Vasooli as Russia. The video ends with Germany and America backing out while Ukraine is ambushed by Russia. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi Watch the meme below: Self explanatory… Golmaal was way ahead of its time…. pic.twitter.com/2vhvhHPskA — Arshad Warsi (@ArshadWarsi) February 24, 2022 Soon after Arshad shared the meme, many of his fans and followers found it hilarious, while there were others who called him insensitive and asked him to delete the tweet. 10. Arshad Warsi is among the most talented yet underrated actors in Bollywood. He is one of the few versatile actors we have in the film industry who can do comedy, romance, action or serious roles with great conviction. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi The star who started out with Tere Mere Sapne in 1996, completed 25 years in the cinema yesterday and looked back on his incredible journey in films. He took to Twitter to share and celebrate this milestone with his followers where he thanked his industry mentors, friends and fans for being a part of his journey. Today I completed 25 years in our wonderful film industry. This place has given me some of the most talented people as friends. I am and will always be eternally great full to ABCL, Mrs. Jaya Bachchan, Joy Augustine, fans who have loved me & all who gave me a chance-Thank you . — Arshad Warsi (@ArshadWarsi) December 6, 2021 In an interview with a leading daily though, he said that he is equally happy and surprised that he made it so far. “I am surprised as well as happy about completing 25 years in Bollywood. Mujhe laga nahi tha ke mein 25 saal tak tik paunga idhar. It used to be so frightening when I used to see all my peers disappear one after the other. I used to think ‘ab agala number mera hai’,” he said. Well, we aren’t surprised at all. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi He also shared how he was scared of failure so much that he almost didn’t make a debut. “I was petrified to make my debut because I had never acted before. I was so scared of doing a film. I tried my best not to do a film. I am one of the rare breeds that tried his best to get out of the film. Because I was so scared of failure,” he said. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi He added, “I was scared of failing, and then walking around, with everybody saying ‘yeh bechara hero banne aaya tha idhar’. From going through a bad phase to working non-stop, I have seen it all.” © Instagram/Arshad Warsi It is surprising how a brilliant actor like him was so afraid of failure. He also said that even after all these years, he is still looking for work, “I’m grateful for all the people who had faith in me and continue to have faith in me and the audience. I feel there is going to be another long journey ahead of me. So, (the truth is), I have completed 25 years in the industry, and I’m still looking for a job because that is how the industry is,” he said. © Instagram/Arshad Warsi After his last film Durgamati in 2020, the actor will be next seen in Bachchan Pandey alongside Akshay Kumar.
