  5. Being a politician isn’t easy and comes with a lot of expectations and responsibilities from the citizens they vow to serve. Since politicians are the public figures for people who are expected to address their problems, they often find themselves on the receiving end of the wrath and anger of the public if they fail to do so. It has happened many times that politicians are hurled abuses at, thrown shoes at and even physically assaulted in public places. © Twitter Even the biggest and leading politicians have been attacked and assaulted by their own public multiple times including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who was slapped and the then PM of India, Dr Manmohan Singh who was almost hit by a shoe flung on him. © Twitter Here are six such incidents where Indian politicians were attacked and assaulted by the public, in public. 1. Arvind Kejriwal (2019) Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been attacked in public not once but several times. He was slapped by a person during a roadshow in 2019 when a man in a red shirt climbed on the minister’s jeeb and hit him in front of everyone. 2. Jagan Mohan Reddy (2018) The YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy, before he became the CM of Andhra Pradesh, was stabbed in the arm (yes, you read that right) at Vizag Airport by a fan who was taking a selfie with him. 3. Dr Manmohan Singh (2009) The then Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh nearly escaped a shoe attack as the target fell short and couldn’t hit him. It happened when a student from the crowd flung a shoe at him during an election rally in Ahmedabad. 4. P Chidambaram (2009) P Chidambaram was serving as the Union Home Minister in April 2009 when a journalist threw a shoe at him at a press conference. He did it in protest against CBI’s clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 Sikh riots case. 5. Sharad Pawar (2011) The NCP Chief Sharad Pawar was the Agriculture Minister in the Congress-led UPA government when he was slapped while exiting the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) headquarters. 6. Rahul Gandhi (2016) Another shoe attack was when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was targeted during a roadshow in Uttar Pradesh because the attacker was upset with Gandhi for carrying on with the rallies and not paying tribute to the martyrs of Uri attack. 7. There are so many romantic movies where there's at least one scene of the two people who are madly in love kissing in the rain. We grew up believing it to be one of the most romantic moment and would love to experience it on our own as well. But, then we realize where we live, and that fantasy is ruined, much like how our family's reputation will be 'ruined' if anyone sees it. But, we can all agree it's a beautiful moment nonetheless. Since monsoon is upon us and it's pouring everywhere, a young photographer in Bangladesh decided to take advantage of the incredible weather and all the good things it brings with itself. Jibon Ahmed captured a picture of a couple kissing in the rain in Dhaka University, with the backdrop of people just going about their day and working. What a moment! It's like utopia where two people seemingly in love isn't anyone else's concern; it's almost as if they are in their own world. Jibon Ahmed He shared the picture with the caption “This is a poem of the blessed rains, let love be free.” It was such an amazing picture, it started going viral. People's reaction, however, was a little divided. While some showed appreciation for the message of love it carried, others had to get political with it. But, that was just the beginning. It has been reported that just a few days after the pictures was shared, Jibon, the photographer, was assaulted by some other photographers at that university. Apparently, Jibon, who works as a photojournalist with a news website, has also been fired from his job. This stupid and honestly misplaced attack against Jibon made people speak up in his favour and come to his defence. Fahima Durrat, a professor at Dhaka University, shared her views on Facebook. People showed their outrage and support on Twitter as well. Shocking to see the outrage against this photograph and physical assault on the photographer. We should kiss everywhere and we should kiss often. Let's fight back. One kiss at a time! #kiss #Bangladesh #viral #TSC #moralpolice #photography #jibonahmed https://t.co/1U3rfmYG39 — Shehzeen Choudhury (@ShehzeenSays) July 25, 2018 And, here's a meme perfectly highlighting the hypocrisy.
  8. PATTOKI: A woman present at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally was assaulted here on Tuesday. The woman, a resident of Kasur, is a member of the PML-N women?s wing. ?I came here to support the party, but the treatment by those present here is shameful,? she said. The incident occurred when men entered the women enclosure after Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif's speech. Pictures from the rally clearly show men present at the rally misbehaving with the woman. Women in the enclosure made efforts to save the girl and even used sticks to hit the men misbehaving with the girl and afterward managed to escort her out of the enclosure. Maryam Nawaz, in her tweet, asked the chief minister of the province to take notice of the incident as it is "not PML-N ethos". Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, said those responsible will be punished under the law and those responsible are being identified through video. Sanaullah assured that a case would be registered for the incident. He, however, said that misbehaving in political rallies started in PTI rallies. Punjab government spokesman

The Rawalpindi Union of Journalists has expressed serious concern over the attempted kidnapping. 11. Actor Kevin Spacey speaks to a reporter as he arrives during the premiere of 'Recount' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, US, May 13, 2008. REUTERS/Joshua Lott/Files NEW YORK: A Massachusetts mother on Wednesday accused Kevin Spacey of sexually assaulting her 18-year-old son on the holiday island of Nantucket last year and said police had opened a criminal investigation. Former television news anchor Heather Unruh told a news conference in Boston that the double Oscar winner assaulted the teen after plying him with alcohol late at night in a Nantucket bar in July 2016. Police told AFP that they could not confirm or deny any such report was filed. "Reports of sexual assaults are confidential under Massachusetts General Law," a spokesperson for the police department said. Unruh described her son at the time as a "star-struck, straight" 18-year-old. "Kevin Spacey bought him drink after drink after drink, and when my son was drunk, Spacey made his move and sexually assaulted him," she told a news conference in Boston. "Spacey stuck his hand inside my son's pants and grabbed [him]," Unruh said. Her intoxicated son ? whom she did not name ? panicked and froze. When the House of Cards star left briefly to use the bathroom, he allegedly fled to his grandmother's house, where he reportedly told his sister what had happened. "Last week, my son filed a police report and handed over evidence, and now a criminal investigation has begun," Unruh told reporters. The scores of women who have accused Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, and actor Anthony Rapp levelling the first public accusations against Spacey had motivated them to speak publicly now, Unruh said. "I want to see Kevin Spacey go to jail," she said. "Not just for my son but for the many others," she added. Unruh said her son did not report the incident at the time "largely because of embarrassment and fear". The family lawyer also told reporters Wednesday that his client had spoken to Nantucket police, who were investigating. Unruh previously alleged via Twitter on October 13 that Spacey had "assaulted a loved one," but had not previously identified that person as her son. Netflix late week dropped Spacey, its star actor on hit series House of Cards whose career is in a freefall over the spiralling assault accusations. According to British media, London police are also investigating him for an alleged assault in 2008. Spacey has been publicly accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old boy in New York and of making advances on actor Anthony Rapp when he was 14 years old, 31 years ago.
  12. Giuseppe Tornatore ? the director of 'Cinema Paradiso' ? poses during the film's screening in Los Angeles, California, US, November 10, 2014. REUTERS/Kevork Djansezian/Files ROME: Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore on Saturday denied assaulting a showgirl as the Academy Award-winning filmmaker became the latest in the entertainment world to be accused of sexual harassment. Tornatore ? best known for his 1988 film Cinema Paradiso that took home the Oscar for best foreign language film ? was accused by former TV starlet Miriana Trevisan of fondling and kissing her in his office 20 years ago. "I went to Giuseppe Tornatore's office. My agent organised the meeting. It wasn't an audition, but a first meeting in view of a film in production," the 44-year old said in an interview with Vanity Fair. When she got up to leave, "he followed me to the door, pushed me up against the wall and started kissing my neck and ears", assaulting her with "his hands", she said. "I managed to get away from him and run out the door," she said, adding that Tornatore "probably doesn't even remember it". The Sicilian director, 61, told La Repubblica daily he did remember the meeting, insisting, "I never laid a finger on her". "I remember a cordial meeting, and reject the insinuations made," he said, adding that he was considering legal action. The accusation is the latest in a month-long torrent of allegations engulfing male power players in Hollywood and from the worlds of politics, finance, and journalism. Accounts of abuse by Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein that were published last month in The New York Times and The New Yorker encouraged others to speak out. Weinstein has denied the allegations.
  13. Accused being presented in court. Photo: Twitter DI KHAN: Police obtained on Wednesday custody of eight suspects who allegedly assaulted a girl and paraded her naked a few days ago as an act of 'punishment' in Dera Ismail Khan. The police, who have yet to nab the primary suspect, Sajawal, had sought the physical remand of the suspects for 10 days but Judicial Magistrate Adam Khan only approved their custody for three days. The judge also ordered the police to have the suspects' medical tests conducted. SP Ashfaq Khan said that the police have also recorded the statement of the victim in detail. He added that the statement was recorded in the presence of local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Amin Gandapur. According to the police, the victim?s brother, Sajjad, was reportedly involved in an extra-marital affair with a girl in the Girah Mut locality. A panchayat (council of elders) settled the matter by fining the male's Rs0.25 million but on October 27, the girl was assaulted and paraded on the road as 'punishment'. According to a press release, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has assigned the task of supervising the investigation to Regional Police Officer Fida Hasan Shah for a swift and impartial conclusion of the case. The FIR, number 210, has been registered at the Chaudhwan Police Station, DI Khan.
