  1. Late actor Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan could not hold back his tears after he collected an award on behalf of his father. His video started to go viral and many journalists went on to say that he was high. Babil took to Instagram Stories and gave it back to such haters who thought he was high as he cried and also because of the shape of his eyes. He had written, “Just wanted to share with you all that I attended the Filmfare awards yesterday and 7 journalists asked me if I was high just because of the shape of my eyes. well done guys. great inquisitive research that you have conducted because I have been pure natural since I left university. really good job. you made me feel so nice by telling me that my natural face looked like I was high. thank you so much for that. I will use that look and make millions in Bollywood." View the full article
  2. “My intention is to take his (Irrfan's) legacy forward and not to become a star,” Babil Khan said on the sidelines of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa that he attended along with his mother Sutapa as the festival paid homage to Irrfan. Irrfan’s son Babil Khan is all set to make his acting debut with the Netflix film Qala. Directed by Anvitaa Dutt, the film is produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma's production house, Clean Slate Filmz. It will surely be an interesting watch as we will get to see Babil working his magic for the first time. With Babil taking Irrfan Khan's legacy ahead, we feel that he would surely try to keep his father alive through his presence in the cinematic world and we also feel that the young lad is following the footsteps of his father. Here’s why we think he is Irrfan 2.0. 1. Unconventional Entry To CinemaIf you have seen Anushka Sharma’s work as a producer, you would have an idea that she doesn’t follow the cliched ways of storytelling and Qala is expected to have a unique storyline too. With Qala as his debut movie, Babil has already chosen an unconventional path. Sharing the teaser, Babil Khan wrote on Instagram “Tripti freaking Dimri is back again!!!!!! Whooooooo!!! (and a little bit of me) Also, I’m a bit skeptical about the phrase ‘getting launched’ because the audience should launch off their seats while watching our film and not any individual actor. ‘From the creators of Bulbbul, Clean Slate Filmz, and Anvita Dutt, we bring you #Qala, a Netflix Original film. Qala will be here soon to share the story of her fight for a place in her mother's heart (sic).’” View this post on Instagram When he attended the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, he was asked when the audience would get to see him on the big screen. In response, Babil said, "The thing is I have to do it the right way and I'm working on it giving my energy towards it. But, the thing is that I have to come in the right way. I don't want to do a big movie where I'm dancing and like it makes 100 cr...there is no artistic value in it." As his father changed how the audience perceives cinema, we are certain that Babil is here to do the same. 2. Here To Break StereotypesIrrfan smashed stereotypes of a typical hero as, earlier, the audience thought of the protagonist as a tall, handsome, and good looking man but Irrfan proved that it’s only the talent that matters. Well, Babil is breaking stereotypes in his own way. For instance, he'd earlier spoken about making makeup normal for men. He was trolled by many for applying makeup whenever he stepped out of his house and then, he gave it back to all those people who have such a narrow mindset. He wrote on Instagram, "Can you believe some people STILL go, 'Are you a girl?' when I apply face masks or make-up before going out? I think every person is made up of a cosmic duality and what truly makes you a man is recognizing the woman inside you. You are not a man till you realize your feminine dimension, because that exactly is toxic masculinity. I love looking after my skin, I love looking sexy, I love women and I love being a man (sic)." View this post on Instagram 3. Compassionate And Humble Towards His FansIf you have ever seen Irrfan greeting his fans, you would have noticed that the actor was his usual fun and jovial self. Babil, too, is following suit and has shown his humble nature while interacting with his fans a number of times. In one of the interactions with his fans, he was asked to unfollow the star kids and his humble response won our hearts. Babil, replying to the comment, wrote, “Bhai toh meri yeh hi ummeed rahegi ki mein apni mehnat aur performance se aapka dil itna khush kar doon ki aapko yeh lage hi na ki mere journey mein koi unfairness hui hai.” He also added, “brother, do you understand the pressure and expectations of being the son of someone who changed the acting in India cinema? I understand your frustration against nepotism, but there are two sides to every coin.” © Babil Khan Instagram © Babil Khan Instagram 4. Dresses And Talks Like IrrfanWhen Babil attended the 2021 Filmfare Awards, we couldn't help but notice the similarities between him and his father. Right from the outfit he chose to his mannerisms while accepting the posthumous honour given to his late father, it all reminded us of Irrfan. He chose to wear an outfit that his father wore in one of the fashion shows. Even his voice reminded us of Irrfan’s style of speaking. Here’s the snippet from the award ceremony: A very emotional moment from #FilmfareAwards when Irrfan Khan's son Babil come on stage for collecting award behalf of him. Babil & everyone else couldn't stop their tears. We all miss you #IrrfanKhan. Cont....@Riteishd @ayushmannk @RajkummarRao pic.twitter.com/99kIJltvNA — IMShubham (@shubham_jain999) April 9, 2021 Talking about the clothes, he shared on Instagram, “Mamma dressing me up - So in my little speech, while accepting baba’s awards from @jaideepahlawat @rajkummar_rao @ayushmannk, I basically said, “this is not my place to say anything. People always say that you cannot fit into your father’s shoes but at least I can fit into his clothes. I just want to show all my gratitude to the audience and our industry because of the warmth and love that you have hugged our family with, and all I can really say is that you and I will make this journey together and take Indian cinema to new heights, I promise.” He added, “The story behind the clothes was that my father hated participating in fashion shows and ramp walks but he did it in these same clothes in order to continuously break out of his comfort zone. That is exactly what I was doing last night, tearing through into new spaces that I’m uncomfortable with.” Here’s the post: View this post on Instagram We really hope that Babil makes a mark in the industry. Qala is a beautiful, heart-breaking story about a daughter who craves her mother’s love. I am ecstatic to have such incredible actors on-board and cannot wait for the world to discover the film with Tripti, Babil and Swastika. 6. In his latest Instagram post, Irrfan’s son Babil Khan broke one more stereotype and this time, it’s related to making makeup normal for men. He was trolled by many for applying makeup whenever he stepped out of his house and now, he has given it back to all those people who have such a narrow mindset. He wrote that he is often asked if he is a girl when he applies make-up before going out. He added that he thinks that recognizing the woman inside a man makes him a man. On Thursday, he shared an old photon of his photo and penned a note remembering himself. He shared, “For in my dreams, I have no knowledge of your desertion. In my dreams today, you told me you were about to leave me and you held me for so long. Imagine the fact that I just woke up cause my phone rang for yet another offer to act, for yet another film. Now, what sense does all this make without you Baba? I’d rather keep dreaming. (Tears make it hard to type, someone invented a phone for people that cry a lot plis) (sic)." It’s his son Babil who has been keeping him and his memories alive for all his well-wishers and fans. Babil has been involved in the process of filmmaking as he is learning the nuisances of it. He keeps sharing his learnings on Instagram and today, posted a picture of the cover of the book Actors On Acting, signed by his father Irrfan. Sharing the post, he wrote, "Up for lending (sic)." "Irrfan in New York for The Namesake," the legendary actor had written on the book. View this post on Instagram On the post, one Instagram user asked him, "Sir, when will you come into the field of acting? (sic). To which, Babil replied, "I am already in the field of acting, when I will appear in a film is the question. Once I have graduated around May, I will start looking into offers (sic)." © Babil Khan Instagram On January 7, Irrfan's birth anniversary, Babil shared an unseen video of his parents, Irrfan and Sutapa Sikdar. He wrote, "You never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations. Perhaps, that is why I don’t remember anyone’s birthdays because you never remembered mine and never encouraged me to remember yours. It was just normal to us what seemed absurd from the outside, we celebrated every day (bringing personal experiential authenticity to the cliche). On the occasion, Mamma would have to remind us both; but this time I could not forget yours if I tried. It’s your birthday, Baba. Shoutout to all the technologically inept parents, notice that they did not finish saying that they miss me (sic)." View this post on Instagram We wish that Babil continues the legacy of his father in the industry and gives us films that are worth appreciating like Irrfan. View the full article
