The changes are being made according to the chief minister’s vision, and are aimed at providing better facilities to the masses, the official said. While talking to media, Malik said that strict action would be taken against absent doctors and other staff members if hospitals do not perform adequately, which will encourage doctors and staff to perform honestly and responsibly. Malik added that funds for the health sector have also been increased in the financial budget 2019-20 under the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan to address hospitals' problems. He said that the provincial government is also utilising all available resources to improve the public's confidence in government-run hospitals, saying that it was a "top priority" of the government to resolve problems of health department employees, including doctors, because the health staff is directly responsible for improving services in hospitals. He added that a health team was being formed to address the current shortage of doctors and availability of medicines to facilitate people in the rural areas of the province. He also urged doctors to play a more responsible role for the betterment of needy patients.

Photo: Geo News ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday alleged that political rivals Imran Khan and Asif Zardari are engaged in horse trading in the upcoming polls for the Senate chairmanship. The Senate election to appoint a chairman and deputy chairman will be held on March 12. Speaking to the media in the federal capital, the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) questioned the forces behind the dissolution of the Balochistan government. "Who are those unknown people who dissolve the government in Balochistan," she said. "First, Balochistan's government is dissolved and then Imran Khan is spotted standing to the right of the [new] chief minister of the province and Asif Ali Zardari is seen standing on the left." She alleged that the two leaders are engaged in horse trading through the independent senators in Balochistan. Lashing out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, said Aurangzeb that Imran is afraid of Maryam Nawaz. "Your tweets and lies are an attempt to take away the attention from questions raised on your party's performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," she remarked. Who will be Senate Chairman? The quake's intensity was recorded as 3.4 on the Richter scale, PEMA said, adding that the depth was measured at 37 kilometres.   7. QUETTA: Bodies of six miners have been recovered since yesterday after parts of a coalmine collapsed in Balochistan's Harnai district on Thursday night. Chief Inspector Mines Iftikhar Ahmed said that efforts to rescue the remaining two miners trapped inside are underway. He has also ordered an investigation in the incident. Ahmed said a landslide occurred at two spots at the Sharig Coal Mine in Harnai on Thursday night, trapping two miners inside. Six other miners then proceeded to rescue their colleagues but got trapped themselves. Rescue staff said that there is little possibility the miners are still alive. Body of one miner was recovered on Friday while another was rescued in an injured state. Last month, media reports said that three coal miners were killed after poisonous gas accumulated inside a coal mine in Harnai.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed its annoyance at Director-General National Accountability Bureau (NAB)?s performance, saying the bureau has never completed inquiry in any case in six months. Justice Faez Isa and Justice Dost Muhammad said this in a hearing held in a case against former Balochistan Food Minister Asfandyar Kakar, whose bail application was approved today. ?Naeem Mangi was facing inquiries till yesterday; now he has become a hero,? said Justice Dost Mohammad. ?How about we make him [Mangi] a suspect in the case,? he added. A three-member bench heard the case against Kakar, who has has been alleged to be involved in corruption worth Rs2 billion and disappearance of five million sacks of wheat during his term in the previous government's tenure.
  9. QUETTA: Three Frontier Corps personnel were martyred while three others were injured in an attack in Balochistan's Panjgur on Monday, security sources said. According to security sources, armed men attacked an FC convoy in the Murghab area of Panjgur district. Subsequently, three soldiers were martyred while three others got injured. The injured were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment, reported Radio Pakistan. The attack was condemned by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. In a statement, he expressed profound grief over the loss of precious lives and has directed that best medical assistance is provided to the injured. In July, unidentified persons attacked the convoy of Balochistan Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch near Prom area of Panjgur. However, the minister and his aides remained unhurt. The minister's convoy was en route to Prom area when it was targetted.
  10. QUETTA: An explosion targeting a security forces vehicle in Balochistan's Harnai district martyred four security personnel and injured four on Monday. The explosion destroyed the vehicle and martyred four security personnel, said Tehsildar Mank Khan. He added that the explosion was done via remote control. The injured were transferred to Civil Hospital Khost, added the tehsildar. The area was cordoned off after the explosion by security forces and a search operation was launched. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the blast and instructed authorities to bring the perpetrators to book. The blast came two days after an Army truck was targeted in Quetta?s Pishin Stop area. The attack had martyred at least 15 people, including security personnel.
