  1. It feels like the nickname 'Red Devils' may be befitting for the Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling who left the Barcelona FC forward and Argentine legend, Lionel Messi flat on the field with a disfigured nose dripping crimson blood all over the grass. Bloody nose for Messi, after Smalling went through him to win the ball in the air. But he's already back on the pitch.#MUNBAR #MUFCB #UCL pic.twitter.com/jglTiDusNz — Joga Bonito (@Jasoninho10) April 10, 2019 In the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Barcelona FC were destined to go against a depleted Manchester United at Old Trafford. Going in as the dominant side of the rivalry, Ernesto Valverde's men never thought that they would be expecting such a tough fight by the English football club. In all of 90 minutes, Messi and team barely kept themselves afloat and only managed to win the game with the help of United defender Luke Shaw, who gifted them a score in the form of an 'own goal'. Having said that, the only thing to bring about a greater stir on social media was the incident in which the Smalling and Messi jumped to contest for the ball and the Englishman forearmed him in the face, drilling him to the ground as he did so. It was evident that the shot to the nose was unintentional and that the English defender was clearly going for the ball. During the post-game interview, Smalling spoke about the toughness and intensity his team brought to the game and how Barcelona has failed to foresee such a competition. “I think it [the challenge] came when we were right on the front foot,' he told BT Sport. 'We had to bring the intensity they're not used to every week and there's a lot to play for in the second leg.” “We pressed them high and made it difficult. It's a shame we couldn't get the goal. I thought we created some good chances. We had a spell in the first half where we went after them and then we looked nervy, but after half time we got at them.” 'The whole team, we nullified them. I think there was only one other save for David de Gea. We knew we had to bring that intensity that they're not used to.” “It was a good battle, my yellow card on Luis Suarez out of all the challenges I thought it was the softest.” However, the fans of Barcelona FC and those of Lionel Messi were livid with Smalling's overaggressive play and called him out for the charge: Bro the last time Messi got a bloody nose this happened, Smalling you f*cked up... pic.twitter.com/SDGtUTrLMm — Mod (@CFCMod_) April 10, 2019 They broke Messi's nose and think they will survive Camp Nou? 2. After eagerly waiting for the UEFA Champions League draws for the quarter-finals, we finally have the table in front of us. The Champions League quarter-finals are set ð« Happy? #UCL pic.twitter.com/NQRf7Flh0o — Goal (@goal) March 15, 2019 While the rest of the contests look pretty decent, our major focus instantly shifted to the matches between Lionel Messi's Barcelona FC and Paul Pogba's Manchester United that are destined to take place on 9th April (Leg 1) and 16th April. Keeping in mind the performances carried out by two of the most historically prestigious football clubs in the recent past it is safe to say that Messi and Co. clearly have the upper hand. Case in point, Barcelona's previous match up against Lyon which the Spanish giants easily cruised past after winning 5-1 on aggregate. With Messi coming back to form in the second leg as he scored two goals and assisted twice, things don't seem to be getting any easier for the Red Devils. On the other hand, Manchester United have proven their true worth to those who underestimated them during their duel against Mbappe's Paris Saint-Germain. We scoured the internet to check out exactly how the fans from both sides reacted to the draw and the results are hilarious: Overjoyed Barcelona Fans: Rip Man United — Messi ð (@loyalmessi) March 15, 2019 Thank you Jessssssssssssuuuuussssssðððð we're through — Saucererð (@ghermaine__) March 15, 2019 I foresee an easy gameðððð...LOL ðð — Yusuf Olatunji (@Yusuf_Olatunji2) March 15, 2019 It's coming home ðªð — Leoð (@ProudCule1) March 15, 2019 RIP IN ADVANCE MAN U — Keith (@Keith58808029) March 15, 2019 Depressed and Gloomy Manchester United Fans: Dear @ChampionsLeague, Thanks for the memories but it's time to say goodbye... — Himansh (@GunnarMindset) March 15, 2019 pic.twitter.com/xmGFPvZKpy — Esoâ (@EsoKachikwu) March 15, 2019 pic.twitter.com/TMr5fN8wDV — Leo Carter ð¾ðª (@LeoCarter27) March 15, 2019 pic.twitter.com/TMr5fN8wDV — Leo Carter ð¾ðª (@LeoCarter27) March 15, 2019 My brother when I told they'd drawn Barcelona ðð pic.twitter.com/2LKqcF1fPj — William (@talibanscum) March 15, 2019 pic.twitter.com/sItdB4e1eu — Koyin ð³ð¬ (@K0YIN) March 15, 2019
