  1. There's a hot new Battle Royale game that has been the talk of the town and we've been playing the game ever since its release. It's called 'Apex Legends' and the game is free-to-play across all platforms. Just like the any other Battle Royale game, you need to know a few tips and tricks in order to win a match. 'Apex Legends' has nuances that make it different from any other Battle Royale game out there. You need to know your abilities and different types of guns for different situations. Here are a few tips and tricks you need to know to secure that win in Apex Legends. Loot Is Important © YouTube No matter what you do, loot is the most important thing in any Battle Royale game. Make sure you grab the Armour, Helmet, weapon and ammo. Do not pick unnecessary items that you don't need as inventory space is more important than anything in this game. Have Enough Ammo Ammo is scarce and your guns will burn through ammo faster than you would expect. Make sure you always have enough ammo for your primary weapon. Use Your Ability Whenever You Can © MensXP Abilities in Apex Legends recharge very quickly and you should use it whenever you need it. For example, if you play 'Lifeline', always call in the drop as it has upgraded armour pieces or shield cells. If you play Bloodhound, make sure you use your ability to scan the area whenever you are unsure of your surroundings. Abilities will give you an upper hand in the game and we cannot stress enough how important it is to use abilities at the right time. Replenish Your Shields First © YouTube If you get damaged, always replenish your shield first as it is your primary health. It only takes 3 seconds to fill up each bar whereas a sunrise takes five seconds. Enemy's Armour Are Undamaged After you kill someone, always check for new armour in the box/body. It is best to switch to a new armour as it is faster than restoring it with 'Shield Cells'. After a gunfight, just pick up an enemy's armour instead as it is undamaged in his box. The Ping System Is An Essential Tool © YouTube You can communicate with your teammate without uttering a single word. That's because the ping system in Apex Legends is one of the best we've ever seen. You can ping weapons, armour, enemies and point out loot without saying a word. This removes the language barrier amongst random players and is probably the most essential tool in the game. Don't Waste Ammo On Downed Players © Respawn Entertainment If you've downed an enemy, it's best not to waste your ammo on finishing the job. If the coast is clear, you can use a finisher to kill the enemy which essentially helps you save ammo. You can also use them as bait to help you finish remaining squad members. Slide When Going Downhill © YouTube The game has no fall damage which makes it easier for you to traverse the map. You can even slide down a slope which can be used to dodge enemy fire and to find cover. It's also faster than running down a slope.
  2. The most promising time of the year is here. Isn't it? Why is it you ask? Well, it's the time people go on overdrive making resolutions. Which they know they will never keep. Ever. via GIPHY Who has not resolved to become more productive when the New Year comes in? How many times have you chided yourself for not being productive enough? “From tomorrow onwards, I WILL be more productive!”, seems like a broken record that has become your life song. via GIPHY Even after numerous tries to get up and just do it, you seem like you are failing yourself and the sense of sadness and helplessness that comes with it is indescribable. © Unsplash Do you feel like you could have done so much more in the day had you been a little more active? Productivity is not about getting a lot done in a short time, it is about completing what you started. You do not need to compromise with life in order to be productive. I can't tell you enough about the times I have tried being productive and failed miserably. Happens to everyone. Even the best of us. You are not alone. But don't give up. © Pexels Increasing productivity is similar to be training to be a Jedi; it is going to “kick you in the ass” exhausting. Once you become one, you can't go back to be your old lazy self. No pressure. Breathe. It will work out. You just need to not take so much stress about everything. I know it's easier said than done but give yourself some time. Before embarking on committing yourself to be more productive, take a step back and analyze whether you need to be more productive or not. © Pinterest Maybe, you end up setting extreme goals and when you tend to not finish them you feel that you are not productive enough. Set a realistic standard. Don't blindly follow someone else's formula. Everyone works at their own pace. Here are six-way which can help in improving your productivity. Give them a try: 1. Sleep: Yes, you read it right! Sleep! © Pinterest I can hear you laughing! via GIPHY Do one thing. Count the number of times you have abandoned a task because you were too sleepy. Too many, right? Lack of sleep leads to irritation and ultimately the wish to kill everything and everyone in sight. via GIPHY As a result, you are not able to complete the task you have planned on. Sleeping late results in waking up late, no matter hard you try. It's the reason you find yourself rushing through the day. a) Try going to sleep at the same time each night. Seems hard, I know. Herculean, even. b) Get in the maximum number of hours of sleep you can get; 6-7 hours to be ideal. Get enough sleep. c) Have a fixed sleeping pattern; try to wake up early, at the same time. You might not be able to do it every day, that is natural and obvious. Keep the distractions away: mobile phones, books, food or anything that can hinder a good night's sleep. Once your body gets attuned to the cycle, you will find yourself feeling sleepy on the dot and waking up with a clear perspective, sans moaning or whining. How will this make you productive you ask? When you are properly rested, you will feel more focused on your work and less prone to the desire of snapping at people next to you. You will see that you are able to complete the task at hand and even give some time to yourself to pursue the resolution you have made for the year. 2. Organize: You do not need to become Monica Geller (though there's nothing wrong with being too organized :P), you need to be you, but a well-organized version of you. via GIPHY There's no shame in being messy, but when that starts affecting your productivity, it is time to change it. Removing clutter from your life is an effective way of becoming productive. When the milk expires, do you throw it away or keep using it? Exactly. Remove the unnecessary things from your life, let them go; be it clothes or people. via GIPHY Declutter. If that pair of jeans doest not fit you anymore, say bye-bye to it. The hindrance we face in being organized is the fact that we find it hard to let go of things. Start small. a) Organize your daily schedule: meetings, lunch hours, time to be spent doing a particular task. Set up a few goals in a day so that you are motivated throughout the day. © Unsplash Keep it simple. Following your schedule to the T is hard, of course. Stick to it anyway. b) Start by organizing your desk. It will save a lot of time. You won't have to run around searching for stuff. © Pexels c) Make a to-do list; I know it sounds cliché but just try it. You'll find it to be helpful to have all your tasks to be done, ready and neatly available to you when required. d) Use that Organizer App on your phone. It isn't there just to enhance the beauty of your phone or eat up space on it. Download one or go old school with planners and Filofaxes. Organising doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to make things accessible. Eventually, it will save a lot of time and effort, which can be used to be more productive instead. Once you get the hang of it, you will breeze through. You will find yourself managing your time more effectively. 3. Exercise: Hit the gym. If you can't, go for a run. If that's too tiring, just go for a brisk walk. © Pexels On the off chance of sounding as preachy as a parent, laziness is not rewarding. Exercise is essential for feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The more relaxed you feel, the more tasks you will accomplish and the happier you'll feel. © Pexels Exercise is a great motivator in itself, you make a certain goal in the gym for a certain time period. Use that same concept in life as well. Motivation is what makes productivity complete. Devote at least 30-45 minutes in your day to any form of workout, whatever floats your boat. Here when point no. 1 comes into play. The earlier you wake up, the more time you get. Bonus? You look great and will remain fit! via GIPHY 4. Stop Comparing, Start Identifying: Just don't do it. Comparing your goals to someone else's is a recipe for disaster. It will only lead to self-loathing and a loss of confidence. via GIPHY Comparing or feeling jealous is a common thing to do; it is how the human brain is wired. You need to realize what works best for you. Pace yourself. Think of food choices, for instance, it is not necessary that another person has the exact palette as yours. © Pexels Similarly, comparing your productivity to another person's won't give you satisfaction, but instead, it will throw you down the rabbit hole of feeling unaccomplished. a) Instead, identify what eats away your time. What are your time robbers? Is it sleeping too long or spending too much time on the phone? b) Try to utilize the time you already have and do not realize, like the time you have while commuting. Read your emails, catch up with texts on the commute if that takes a long time. c) Work on yourself and identify what makes you lose time and drive. If a certain concept works for your friend, doesn't mean it'll surely work for you too. d) Make a not-to-do list, just like you make a to-do list; enlist the things you plan on changing in your lifestyle, things you plan to change but never follow through. 5. Take A Break: Do not overwhelm yourself. Taking too much stress about the smallest of things leads you to become anxious and fidgety. via GIPHY Daydreaming and overthinking don't solve problems, do they? If they did, we would all be millionaires. Overworking yourself will obviously make you tired and snarky and make you angrier. Trying to do everything at once and killing yourself in the process doesn't increase your productivity, rather it is counterproductive. © Unsplash Multi-tasking is all fun and games until you lose your mettle trying to meet every expectation. Once in a while, let go of your phone and other gadgets and sit quietly to reflect. Use that as a time for yourself; read a book, cook something. Do things that make you happy. © Pexels Switch off your phone for an hour, let the tensions of the office melt away. Collect yourself and you will find yourself rested and be able to focus on things that actually need your attention. FOMO: Fear of Missing Out can become FOMO: Fun of Missing Out, if you want it. You don't always have to be everywhere, rush everything. Everything isn't compulsory. Avoid people who make you anxious and sad, take a break from them as well. No one needs that kind of negativity in their life. Let things go when you can't control them. 6. Say No: When you know that you won't be able to help, avoid taking extra responsibility. Say No. Learn to do it. © Pinterest You don't have to be rude about it. You can't make everyone happy. If they get annoyed at you, it's their problem, not yours. via GIPHY Anything that cuts into your time and makes you lose productive hours is not healthy. Stop being the ever-dependable “Yes” guy, a little “no” never hurt anyone. via GIPHY It may seem selfish, but if you don't have the time, do not say yes. You will find that it makes you feel calmer and serene. In order to be good, you do not need to be a pushover. Remember that. So, ready to try out one of these ways? Becoming productive is not a miracle, it doesn't happen overnight. You need to work for it, dedicate yourself to the process and you won't even realize when you became that productive person you idolized. Hoping these tips work for you! All the best! Have the most productive year ahead!

BLOCKBUSTER. — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) January 15, 2019 Even though 'Simmba' received mixed reviews upon its release on 28th December last year, it soon picked up business over the week. The movie has received great reviews and has been hailed as a total “paisa vasool” movie of 2018. Not only that, but 'Simmba' also became Rohit Shetty's eighth consecutive 100-crore movie at the box office. © Red chillies Entertainment 2013 release 'Chennai Express' starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan was a super hit at the box office and was declared as a complete package when it came to thrilling entertainment. In 'Simmba', Ranveer Singh is seen essaying the role of a corrupt policeman called Sangram Bhalerao who undergoes a complete transformation after a life-changing incident. 4. Having *** or making love is fun and games sure, but if you're with that special someone, there are, on an autopilot, many strings attached with the fun that comes with being a lover. Now there maybe many ways you can improve your *** skills or your game play in bed, but apart from the physical manoeuvres, there are some emotional and mental things you need to keep in mind, which will definitely be the best for you and make you the best bet in bed. © Getty Images Even if you're single, having a few things straightened out emotionally can really help you become 'the best *** she's ever had'. But for that to happen you have to pay heed to a lot more than just physical needs. Here are three things you should do to become a better lover. (1) Communicate Effectively So many couples, and men in general, lack the basic skills for effective communication. If you're communicating what you feel and what you feel like doing, effectively, you'll never not fulfil what she desires the most. The hard part isn't over when you find someone to be with. The hard part starts when you want to express and share most things with them. By effectively communicating and laying what you feel on the table, you can grasp the situation a lot easily and understand your partner's needs, everywhere, including the bedroom. © Getty Images (2) Being Emotionally Tuned In Emotional needs fit right into the Yin Yang and they definitely help meet all physical needs. If your emotional quotient is in order, you'll understand the levels of intimacy your partner needs. Understanding women emotionally is a task and if you take out time and patience to tune in emotionally with them, there's no stopping you from becoming the mayor of loverville. If you're emotionally disconnected, *** is just a casual activity you indulge in, like taking a walk in the park and it can't become something hot and intimate. © Getty Images (3) Sensitivity Pays Off You may be thinking that if you're emotionally there, you're sensitive too but sensitivity is different from being emotionally tuned in. A sensitive man knows how to play out his emotions well and when to use them. So, if you're in bed with her and you're sensitive to her needs and listen to what she wants, you're being sensitive. You can't become sensitive when you're not. It takes time and patience to develop a skill or a personality like that but if you try and adhere to her needs and pay attention to things she says, it can get you there in no time. And also, do wonders with your lovemaking skills! © Getty Images You may have a good body, a big *****, perfectly crusted abs, a sexy voice or anything that can make her jaw drop after seeing you naked. But if you don't have these three things listed above, you're just going to be an average lover and trust me, average isn't good!
  5. If you have been on the internet today, then you've surely seen the 'Gully Boy' teaser, or as the makers put it, the 'Gully Boy' trailer announcement, because that's literally the only thing that people have been talking about today. Moreover, it was a rare occasion on Twitter where everyone had just positive things to say about it. Well, we already know that Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are damn good actors and if a tiny one-and-a-half-minute trailer announcement looks so promising, we know for a fact that the movie is going to be incredible as well, and it's good to see that everyone agrees. From unending praises for Ranveer and Alia to people thanking Ranveer for taking on the role so that Farhan Akhtar wasn't the one rapping instead, people can't stop talking about 'Gully Boy'. 6. A day after sacking Jose Mourinho, Manchester United have announced that their former club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take them through this season as interim manager. The news comes as no surprise, as Solskjaer was already accidentally unveiled as Man Utd's interim manager on the club's website before it was taken down. We can confirm that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the 2018/19 season. He will be joined by Mike Phelan as first-team coach, together with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna. #MUFC — Manchester United (@ManUtd) December 19, 2018 Taking to Twitter, the Red Devils tweeted: “We can confirm that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the 2018/19 season. He will be joined by Mike Phelan as the first-team coach, together with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna”. “Manchester United is in my heart and it's brilliant to be coming back in this role. I'm really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club,” Solskjaer was quoted as saying by manutd.com. Ed Woodward, Executive Vice Chairman, also hailed the Norwegian: “Ole is a club legend with huge experience, both on the pitch and in coaching roles. His history at Manchester United means he lives and breathes the culture here and everyone at the club is delighted to have him and Mike Phelan back. We are confident they will unite the players and the fans as we head into the second half of the season”. © Reuters The 45-year-old Norwegian spent most of his professional career playing as a forward for Man Utd. After proving his mettle for Norwegian clubs Clausenengen and Molde, Solskjaer moved to Old Trafford in 1996 for 1.5 million pounds. Owing to a serious knee injury, he called time on his football career in 2007. By the time he was done, Solskjaer had amassed 126 goals in 336 appearances during his 11-year stint with United. Following his retirement, Solskjaer began honing his skills as a football manager. In 2008, Solskjær became the club's reserve team manager. He returned to his native country in 2011 to manage his former club, Molde, whom he led to their two first-ever Norwegian league titles in his first two seasons with the club. He secured a third title in as many seasons when his team won the 2013 Norwegian Football Cup Final. His success as a manager in Norway saw him marking a return to the Premier League, where Cardiff City offered him the top job in 2014. While he won his first game in charge after Cardiff came from behind to beat Newcastle United 2-1 in the FA Cup, Solskjaer will probably like to forget his stint with the Bluebirds, who eventually got relegated back to the Championship after finishing 20th - collecting only 7 wins and 30 points - the same season. © Reuters After a forgettable outing with Cardiff, Solskjaer returned to Molde in 2015. During his second spell, he helped Molde in finishing second in Eliteserien in 2017 and 2018. Though on 3rd December 2018, the Norwegian club had announced that Solskjaer had extended his contract till 2021 season, United's cry for help proved just too hard to resist for their club legend. For a team that's currently 19 points adrift from the top in the points table, United can't really dip downwards from here - something that allows Solskjaer enough cushion to see through their tumultuous season. Whether he can inspire the Red Devils to turn their campaign around or not, his appointment didn't really impress football fans across the globe. 7. Microsoft has overtaken Apple to become the most valuable company in the world and the two companies are still battling it out for the top spot. This has come after a gruelling week for tech companies, where the stock for major tech companies has been recovering. Microsoft reached a valuation of $814 billion as of Tuesday, while Apple's cap was slightly less at $805 billion. © Reuters The two companies are still battling it out and Microsoft's rise could be credited to its continued traction with cloud computing. The last time Microsoft secured a lead over Apple was back in 2010 whereas Apple became the first company in the world to achieve a $1 trillion market cap earlier this year. Amazon shortly followed while Microsoft is yet to achieve that milestone. © Microsoft Microsoft mainly caters to business which has attributed to the company's rising stock price, whereas investors have punished consumer-centric companies. Both Apple and Amazon are down 23 percent since the start of October. In the past, Microsoft fell behind Apple as computing needs moved from desktop computers to mobile devices such as the iPhone. This made Microsoft's dominance in the PC market null and resulted in a decline in stock price. Having said that, Microsoft now caters to businesses and even governments with its Azure cloud computing platform. According to Bloomberg “the rise of cloud computing changed Microsoft's fortunes about five years ago. Under Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella, the company invested heavily in data centres and other infrastructure to run applications and store data for corporate customers.” Microsoft is now second behind Amazon Web Services in the cloud computing business, which has resulted in making the company one of the most valuable companies in the world. 8. Every boy learns something from his mother before he grows up to become a man. It's an inevitable process which garners a lot of what men think and the way they act, where life is concerned. A man's perspective and how he is towards other human beings, especially women, all stems from what their mothers teach them and how they raise them. If a man has a misdirected sense of entitlement, then clearly he's been conditioned into believing everything he does or says is okay. Which is something every mother should keep in mind while raising her son. Why mothers in particular? Because mothers are an epitome of how women should be treated by a man and if the boy grows up with a woman instilling values of respect and good behaviour in him, he will never shy away from making a woman feel like how she should. © Thinkstock Images There are households where women are not treated right and the boy sees his father disrespect his mother every day while growing up and somewhere thinks it's okay to treat women the way his father treated his mother. In such a case, mothers still have to stay strong and not let the boy believe women are weaklings and they deserve to be treated a particular way. Because if they don't, there will be more crimes of violence and otherwise, against women. So, this International Men's Day, let's aspire to be the men we always thought we should be and maybe look back upon how growing up with the strongest woman you know, helped you mould and shape you into a complete man. Here are the 5 basic things boys should learn when they're growing up to be good men. (1) It's OKAY To Express Most men think it's not okay to show emotions and they mask their emotions to come off as manly or macho. The truth is, men who can show their emotions and not mask them behind their manhood are prime examples of real men. Emotional intimacy is the strongest aspect a man can have. Not just for a woman. But a strong emotionally stable man can process any and every issue he has instead of garbing it or putting it underneath the rug. So, if you express your emotions healthily, you actually come off as a strong man and not a weakling. This can only happen if the mother, from the beginning, teaches her son that it's okay to show emotions and not hide them and also teach him to be emotionally intimate and talk about how and what he feels and not shy away from it. © Pinterest (2) Being A Gentleman Will Never Go Out Of Style My mother always insisted on my father and I carrying handkerchiefs in our pockets. She used to joke that it's chivalrous to pull one out just in case you see a woman crying. She didn't mean that with a bad intent. She only meant that men should be chivalrous, no matter what, as it'll never go out of style or become stale. Most women today look for a guy who can still open doors or hold doors, stand up when a woman leaves the table, offer to pick up the tab, drop her home when it's after hours etc. These things never go out of style, no matter how much we may progress. Even though women are capable of doing all these things on their own, it's just the respect you show a woman through these gestures. © Thinkstock Images A mother should teach her boys that respecting a woman by being his chivalrous best is very important and he'll get the respect of a woman threefold if he does it. (3) Taking Responsibility For His Mistakes Every man should be raised to take responsibility for his blunders and mistakes which will teach him to always do the right thing. Don't cover his mistakes and make him believe it's okay to make mistakes because that's the belief he'll grow up with, without taking any accountability. If he learns to acknowledge his mistakes he'll know real masculinity comes from within and he'll do anything in his power to rectify the mistake or never repeat it again. Men who come clean and accept responsibility for their mistakes are definitely more respected in society. © Pinterest (4) To Always Have Patience In Life Patience as a virtue is very important for anyone. A man will only strive through life with ample patience. Women inherently are more patient because research says biologically they have to deal with a child in their womb for 9 months which makes them naturally patient in nature and those are the values they should instil in their sons. A man with patience can overcome anything. steadfastly. © Pinterest (5) To Grow Up to Be Kind Kindness is the most important part of growing up. You have to learn to be kind to others around you and kind to yourself. No one can teach you to be kind but you can be conditioned into showing kindness whenever there is a need to be kind. Especially towards a woman. Not because she's weak but because in times of conflict it's important that a man bends his ego, puts his head in his heart and thinks through kindness. © Pinterest Boys should learn a lot more while growing up, to become the men they aspire to be and it will only come through conditioning and instilling the right value systems through the women who raise them. Raising good boys in society is the only way to end the lifelong patriarchy and everything else stems from it, for good.
  9. In what is turning out to be a scintillating tournament, the ICC Women's World T20 has finally found its semifinalists following some exciting contests in the group stage. While West Indies will be seen locking horns against Australia in the first semifinal, the Indian women's team will take on England in the second. And, the winners from the two crucial games will fight for the coveted trophy in the summit clash on 25th November. Ahead of the first semifinal, the ICC put out a poll on Twitter to ask fans who they thought would contest the all-important World T20 final. The governing body listed out four options: West Indies vs India, West Indies vs England, Australia vs India, Australia vs England. Who do you think will contest the @WorldT20 Final? ð¤ #WT20 — ICC (@ICC) November 18, 2018 While many cricket fans voted for their favourite option, the ones from Pakistan targetted the ICC for leaving out their national team from the Twitter poll. Irked by their team's omission, the Pakistan cricket fans began trolling the ICC and some even expressed their surprise at how the international governing council can leave out the No. 1 ranked side in T20Is. Are you ICC is blind? — TAHIR MARWAT (@marwat33) November 19, 2018 Taking note of the barrage of tweets coming from the Pakistan cricket fans, the ICC clarified their stance with a savage reply - one that they'll not forget for a long time. The absolute state of these mentions! ð Pakistan didn't get out of the #WT20 group stage guys ð — ICC (@ICC) November 19, 2018 The four options listed out by the ICC in its Twitter poll were derived from the semifinalists who had progressed further in tournament. Surprisingly, the Pakistan cricket fans didn't realise that their national team crashed out of the tournament after losing to New Zealand in the group stage. The Pakistan cricket fans also misunderstood their No. 1 T20I ranking which is held by the men's side, and not women's who are currently languishing at the seventh spot. In what eventually turned out to be a forgettable tournament for Pakistan, the women's side had a tough time in their group where they were placed alongside Australia, India, New Zealand and Ireland. The team was completely outplayed by their opponents, winning just one match (against Ireland) and losing three in Group B.

According to trademark filings and reports, the new AirPods will have more advanced features than the current generation. The filings were made from Hong Kong and Europe a few days ago, where new details about the next AirPods were leaked. © MensXP The filings were spotted by Patently Apple and the next version of AirPods are expected to have health-related features. The new features are expected to track and monitor heart rate via the biometric sensors inbuilt into the wireless earphones. The filing detailed the featured it may cover i.e.: “namely, health, fitness, exercise, and wellness sensors, monitors, speakers and displays for measuring, displaying, tracking, reporting, monitoring, storing, and transmitting biometric data, heart rate, body movement, and calories burned; hearing aids; medical apparatus and instruments; apparatus for use in medical analysis; testing apparatus for medical purposes; pulse meters; thermometers for medical purposes; spirometers [medical apparatus]; dental apparatus; heart rate monitoring apparatus; earplugs [ear protection devices]; feeding bottles; non-chemical contraceptives; hair prostheses; plaster bandages for orthopaedic purposes; suture materials.” © MensXP The new filing also mentions that there will be a mechanism to transmit biometric data such as heart rate, body movement and calories burned. According to the report, the AirPods will work closely with other Apple products such as the Apple Watch. We aren't entirely sure when Apple will launch the new AirPods, however, these filings make it extremely exciting thanks to the new features. There are other reports that suggest AirPods may also support noise-cancelling features which is a highly requested feature by AirPods users. Source: Patently Apple
  11. Seen by many as an attempt to clean up his image post the spot-fixing scandal of 2013, following which the BCCI banned him from cricket for life, Sreesanth's foray into the 'Bigg Boss' house has only further tarnished his reputation. Right from day 1, controversy has followed Sreesanth even inside the infamous reality TV show, now in its 12th season. © Colors Be it his inability to cope with conditions inside the house, prompting him to threaten to leave the show on many an occasion, to his ongoing fights with several of the housemates, including non-celebrity Surbhi Rana, whom he disrespected grossly (by showing her the middle finger along with putting her down by stating that he had been paid in crores to appear on the show) whilst serving out a sentence in the Bigg Boss jail, Sreesanth has proved that not only does he have a massive ego (that needs to be constantly massaged, as has been done by TV actor Dipika Kakkar, who coddles him despite his angry outbursts and unreasonable expectations), but also does not know how to play fair(big surprise!) or participate sportingly in challenges. The final straw being the incident where he spat on the name of a fellow contestant and small-town singer Deepak Thakur, and then refused to acknowledge his mistake. © Colors Sreesanth has actively pissed off quite a few of the housemates, who have swiftly discarded their admiration for the former sportsman, and are now seeing him for the less than perfect human being that he actually is. His homophobic comments about new wildcard entry, TV actor Rohit Suchanti, have sunk Sreesanth to a new low, prompting ex-Bigg Boss contestant Vikas Gupta to call him out on his behaviour. Commenting on Rohit's choice of donning purple coloured shorts, Sreesanth drew up an analogy between clothing & sexual orientation, implying that Rohit is effeminate because he is wearing purple coloured shorts. However, what's even worse is the implication that Sreesanth considers the LGBTQ identity as something to be mocked. Funnily enough, in the subsequent scenes in the same episode, Sreesanth himself is seen sporting different outfits in shades of purple. © Colors Throughout his time on the popular reality TV show, Sreesanth has been emerging as the type of person who is guided by selfish interests, and someone who doesn't stand up for what he believes to be right and just. Instead, he is coming across in a negative light, lying & bullying his way through the competition, picking on the non-celebrity participants in every opportunity he gets, either through physical intimidation or constant reminders of his “celebrity” status. © Colors Despite having been given the advantage of being in the 'Bigg Boss' outhouse for several days (from where he could view the exchanges between the other housemates in his absence), Sreesanth has done little to mend his image, and continues to act like an entitled little child, who resorts to throwing a fit every time he doesn't get his way. Definitely not what we expected from this former National-level cricketer!
  12. If cricket is a religion, then Virat Kohli is arguably no less than a God. Often labelled as India's run-machine, the right-hander continues to live up to his tag, shattering one record after another in international cricket. The Indian skipper has been so convincing with the willow, that it undoubtedly makes him a cut above the rest. And, his legend, as witnessed in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies, continues to grow. The Delhi lad looked in sublime form in the first ODI in Guwahati where he notched up his 36th hundred in the 50-over format to secure an emphatic eight-wicket win for his side. Following his exploits in the first game, another pivotal milestone beckoned Kohli, as India looked to carry on their winning momentum in the series. King Kohli ð pic.twitter.com/tNIJxt62ae — BCCI (@BCCI) October 24, 2018 Going into the second ODI, Kohli had amassed 9,919 runs in just 204 ODI innings. He was just 81 runs short of joining the elite list of cricketers with 10,000 runs in the ODI format. While many had tipped the Indian batting sensation to achieve the unique feat, not many would have probably expected him to clinch it so quickly. On 24th October, Kohli once again reminded everyone of his capabilities and why he is quickly establishing his reputation as an all-time great. Continuing his fine form, Kohli raced to yet another fifty and then reached the 10,000-run mark in ODIs. In the process, he shattered his idol Sachin Tendulkar's record by becoming the fastest to reach the milestone. While Tendulkar took 259 innings to reach 10,000 ODI runs, Kohli needed just 205 innings to pip the Master Blaster. And, the fact that Kohli raced from 9,000 to 10,000 in just 11 innings, highlights his godly form with the willow. There is no stopping this fella @imVkohli, whaddaplayaaa ð¥ð¥ pic.twitter.com/4Hkt55TsHF — BCCI (@BCCI) October 24, 2018 The right-hander achieved the feat in the 37th over of the game after punching the ball off Ashley Nurse to long-on for an easy single. For a man who currently seems to be breaking records at will, Kohli's latest feat was undoubtedly special - something that was visible in his celebration where he raised his arms to the sky, then kissed his ring finger, gave a salute to his wife Anushka Sharma and then looked back at non-striker MS Dhoni with a cheeky old grin. But, Kohli wasn't done there. The 29-year-old smashed Marlon Samuels for a boundary in the 44th over and brought up his 37th ODI hundred. It was for the seventh time in his career that Kohli had smashed back-to-back hundreds. Kohli's ton was also his 61st century in international cricket across the three formats. In the process, he also became the fastest to record 61 international hundreds, breaking Tendulkar's record. With 37 ODI hundreds to his name, Kohli only stands behind the Little Master in terms of most centuries in the 50-over format. The Indian batting great has 49 such knocks to his name. It was Kohli's 32nd century as captain in international cricket across the three formats. © BCCI This was Kohli's 25th ODI century in Asia. He has scored five tons combining Australia and New Zealand, four in Africa, one in Europe and four in the Caribbean. Kohli has now surpassed his RCB teammate AB de Villers with 15 ODI tons as captain. Ricky Ponting, with 22 tons to his name, is the only cricketer to have scored more ODI hundreds than Kohli as skipper. It's needless to say that he broke numerous records with the latest hundred, but, for a cricket fan, it was the innings Kohli played to reach the milestone - his discipline to remove all kinds of risk from his game and the calculative head which decides how to turn the bat to pick the gap - that left us all drooling. • 61st century in international cricket across the three formats, although he hasn't yet scored a ton in T20I format. He is the fastest to 61 international hundreds breaking Sachin's record. • 37th century in the 50-over format of the game and still, only stands behind Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most ODI centuries ever. The Indian batting great has 49 such knocks to his name. • 32nd century as captain in international cricket across the three formats. • 30th century for Kohli while batting at No.3 in ODIs. Kohli has batted even down in the No.7 spot, but his century, apart from the usual No.3 spot, came only in the fourth spot. He scored seven centuries batting at No.7. • 25th ODI century in Asia by Kohli. He has scored five tons combining Australia and New Zealand, four in Africa, one in Europe and four in the Caribbean. • 15th as captain in ODIs surpassing his RCB teammate AB de Villers and now only standing behind Aussie great Ricky Ponting (22). • 9th in 2018 in Internationals cricket across format off which four came in Tests. • 6th ODI century against West Indies and third against them on home soil. Two others were scored during India's tour of West Indies in 2017 and 2013.
  13. Craig Monson, also known as the gangster bodybuilder, is a relatively unknown name in the bodybuilding community and most reading this article may not have even heard his name. Even though relatively less popular, he was one of the guys who were an integral part of the golden era of bodybuilding, that is, the 70s and the 80s. So Who Was This Bodybuilder? © Twitter You may have heard his name from CT Fletcher in his very first YouTube video and CT claimed that Craig was one of his early inspirations and motivators that got him into the gym. Why Was He Called The Gangster Bodybuilder? Craig was a member of a gang called The Avenue in the 1960s and one of the early members of the well-known street gang called The Cribs. He was known for being in and out of the prison a lot during the 60s and the 70s. A Few Facts About Craig Monson That Made Him Make A Huge Name During The Golden Era Of Bodybuilding He was crazy strong. He used to frequent the Venice Beach Gold's gym and rub shoulders with the famous bodybuilders of the time like Arnold Schwarzenegger. He would draw large crowds to the beach whenever he lifted there due to the crazy amount of weights he could lift. Some examples of this would be doing 500 pounds for 10 reps for bench press and 585 pounds for 5 reps. He would lift 225 pounds behind the neck tricep extensions. © Twitter He was the biggest bodybuilder of the 70s and the 80s. In his offseason, he would weigh around 310 pounds and on stage, the highest he had been was 274 pounds. That crazy amount of mass was not even something one would imagine getting on stage those days. He also had 23 and 1/4 inch arms. He used to compete in amateur shows during his gangster years and during those years, he used to compete naturally without taking any anabolic steroids. Even when competing naturally, he got up to 240 lbs in his offseason. © Twitter His inspiration to compete in pro shows came from Arnold after seeing Arnold doing a guest posing routine as Conan the Barbarian. The Barbarian character sort of spoke to his personality and drove him so much that he decided to get back to competing. © Twitter In the early 80s, someone at his gym was giving him steroids in the guise of vitamins and he did not realize it at the time. Once he did, he instead went to a doctor to get the actual prescription and went on from around 240-250 to over 300 lbs. © Twitter The show that got into pro-level bodybuilding was the Mr. World show which was held in Switzerland in the early 80s. He went to that show weighing 270+ lbs and there were no bodybuilders that had even reached 260 on stage during the time. The show placed him 5th but the crowd was so unhappy that they got vocal about their angst. This made the judges reconsider the placing and took an audience opinion instead. In doing so, Monson was crowned as the World champ in that show. © Twitter He is relatively unpopular mainly due to his dark past and his gangster days but Monson was really one of the big names that popularized the sport during the golden era of bodybuilding. © Twitter Author bio: Pratik Thakkar is the co-founder and director of GetSetGo Fitness, an online fitness company. 14. Bodybuilding as a sport became an altogether different monster in the 90s. The 70s and the 80s were dominated by smaller waists and aesthetic physiques whereas the 90s indicated the dawn of the mass era. The 90s began the era of being as big as possible along with being shredded. It was dominated by famous personalities like Dorian Yates, Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone, Ronnie Coleman, and the likes. Nasser El Sonbaty AKA 'The Professor' © Bodybuilding.pic.archives He was an IFBB pro who participated in 53 pro competitions always being placed very high in the rankings. His most notable wins would be the Night of the Champions and the Arnold Classic in 1999 where he beat a bunch of spectacular athletes to the throne. Here are a few interesting facts about 'the professor': 1. He Was A Real Smart Fellow Nasser El Sonbaty was half Serbian, half Egyptian and hailed from Germany. He was a highly learned man and graduated college with a handful of degrees in history, political science, and sociology. He even spoke 7 languages fluently. 2. His Guest Posing Earned Him The Nickname The professor was a name not just given to him for the sheer amount of intelligence he had but also due to one typical aspect of his guest posing. He would wear round glasses during his guest posing shows. The round glasses and the intelligence put together earned him the nickname of 'the professor'. © Youtube 3. He Was Very Open About His Drug Usage A lot of pro bodybuilders even today fool their fans into believing that the sheer size and leanness they carry can be achieved naturally to sell a bunch of shit supplements to their followers. Kinda slitting their throats and laughing their way to the banks. Not 'the professor' though. He was very open about his usage of anabolic steroids for bodybuilding along with substances like human growth hormone and diuretics. 4. He Was Called The 'Uncrowned' Mr. O Nasser El Sonbaty used to almost always place in the top 5, the 1997 Olympia was his best performance and almost everyone who has seen clippings of that show believes that he was the more deserving athlete to win the coveted Sandow. The professor really brought it to the stage that day and hands down beat the existing champ and the winner of that show, Dorian Yates. Dorian Yates had suffered a tricep injury just 3 weeks before the show and due to that, his arms and overall conditioning were not on point. The professor beat him in all the poses but still did not win the title. He came second in that show but was the champion for people who watched that show. © Bodybuilding-pics 5. He Died Due To Suspected Steroid Abuse The professor lost his life in the March of 2013 due to kidney failure and heart complications at the young age of 47. He needed a heart transplant and could not get the same on time and died due to multiple complications. His autopsy showed that his heart weighed two times the weight of a normal adult male heart. Note- All this can be linked back to steroid usage and you cannot deny the fact that the anabolic steroid built muscle comes with a hefty price to pay. This is not to take anything from his complications and I am pretty sure he would have had a significant impact in shaping the future sport had he been alive today. 15. Our brethren from the LGBTQ community had been silenced for the longest time, as the society continued to grapple with the possibility of (rightfully) acknowledging their realities and enabling them to speak about their experiences and expectations, the same way we discuss our weekend plans. Until a few weeks ago, talking about these experiences might have seemed like a far-fetched dream for most, but the recent amendment of Section 377 has opened newer avenues for people to come out (literally) and indulge in an active discourse around the myriad nuances that make the LGBTQ community. © Reuters Why Do We Need Pro-LGBTQ Terminology If some of you have been wondering about the usefulness of this “guide”, then allow us to elucidate. 16. In 2016, when Paul Pogba joined Manchester United for a then-world record fee of 89 million pounds, the move was touted to as one of the vital cogs in Jose Mourinho's desperate bid to restore glory at Old Trafford. But, things have not exactly panned out the way their fans would have expected. Mourinho's first season in-charge saw the Red Devils finishing at the sixth spot in the 2016/17 season. And, while things did get a little better for United next season, they still couldn't catch their rampant city rivals who romped their way to a staggering 100 points in a single season. If finishing second to Man City wasn't enough, the tumultuous relationship between Pogba and Mourinho got United fans frustrated. And, then came their worst start to a season in 26 years. After seeing off Leicester City in their 2018/19 season opener, United slumped to two consecutive losses - against Brighton and Tottenham. The 0-3 loss against Spurs was also the heaviest home defeat of Mourinho's managerial career. © Reuters With two wins and as many losses in four games, the Premier League giants are currently placed at a lowly tenth spot in the points table this season - something that's clearly not going down well for the fans. But, that's not all, there is an ongoing tussle between Mourinho and Pogba over the Frenchman's desire to facilitate a move to La Liga giants Barcelona. While the United manager is expecting the French midfielder to replicate his World Cup-winning heroics for France, Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola are reportedly hell bent on the move away from Old Trafford. Amid growing frustration and conflict, Pogba recently unveiled his new haircut on Instagram which didn't really go down well with football fans. © Instagram/paulpogba Pogba is known for his fly cut, but ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash between Germany and France, the 25-year-old added an infinity design on the side with his classic little bit of blonde on top. PewDiePie posted a video on his channel recently, stating that his reign inevitably will come to an end, and according to his estimates, it'll happen sometime in November. © Social Blade T-Series, India's largest music label, and movie studio has nearly 60 million subscribers as now. It is known for its huge Bollywood collection featuring A-list artists. According to Social Blade, T-Series is growing at a rate of about 141,000 subscribers per day. On the other hand, PewDiePie is getting 29,000 subscribers per day. In terms of total views also, T-Series is leading by a huge margin. The Indian channel has received a total viewership of 46 billion, while PewDiePie has just 18 billion. The Indian Channel has a consistent growth rate thanks to two reasons: Our Lord Pewdiepie is under attack, his regime is being questioned. Are we just going to sit back and let him be taken over? NO! We will fight, I'm calling all the kids of the internet, let's save Pewdiepie before it's too late. pic.twitter.com/0joBoNrhPI — MrBeast (@MrBeastYT) August 29, 2018 Firstly, India has a population of 1.3 billion, while PewDiePie's majority audience is American, and the population is just 580 million. Secondly, T-Series has skyrocketed on the back of India's growing Internet penetration. Since 2016, more and more Indians have now connected thanks to the 4G revolution and dirt-cheap data prices. © YouTube The most important factor for PewDiePie's slow growth rate is PewDiePie himself. The creator has been neck deep in controversies that have seen a major backlash from his user base as well as the general YouTube audience. Issues began after Disney ended its relationship with Felix over antisemitic jokes in early 2017. Last year the video platform came under extreme pressure when another YouTuber Logan Paul posted a video apparently making fun of a suicide. The audience is tired of seeing creators like these setting a benchmark for the industry. Also, we must keep in mind that PewDiePie is single-handedly run by Felix while T-Series is an established company with hundreds of artists. The production house has been consistently posting videos ranging from music videos, lyric videos, interview, mash-ups, and a lot more. It also has rights to a multitude of Bollywood movies. The only thing Felix can do now is, urge people to hit the subscribe button hard. T-Series will continue to storm the video platform with its near unlimited supply of content. It's becoming pretty clear that PewDiePie's five-year YouTube rule is coming to an end.
  18. Not very long ago, Saina Nehwal reigned supreme as the postergirl of Indian badminton. Then came a challenger, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu. The young girl fought tooth and nail through a series of brilliant performances on the international stage. But, as Nehwal and Sindhu fought for supremacy, Indian badminton took pride in the fact that they could now boast two of the best shuttlers in the world - a luxury that eluded India for many years. Today, Sindhu is arguably the more convincing and consistent shuttler than her experienced compatriot. While Nehwal has struggled with injuries and unfavourable results, Sindhu has enjoyed a great run across tournaments. If anyone has followed her career graph, they'd agree that Sindhu, over the years, has mastered the art of delivering in crunch situations. And, her silver-medal finish in the ongoing 2018 Asian Games is a testimony to that. After becoming the first Indian shuttler to reach a singles final at the Asian Games, Sindhu went on further to etch her name in the annals of Indian sports history by bagging a historic silver medal in the women's singles event. The 23-year-old went down fighting 21-13, 21-16 against Tai Tzu Ying in the summit clash. © AP Going into the final having lost five straight games to Tai, Sindhu, ahead of their clash, claimed that she had a few cards up her sleeve and some ideas to counter her Chinese Taipei opponent. But, on the day it mattered the most, none of those tricks could save Sindhu from suffering her sixth consecutive defeat against Tai. Having displaced Nehwal in the semifinals, Tai appeared to be destined for glory as she began dominating the final right from the start. Making full use of her speed and precision, Tai forced Sindhu to play catch up as she romped to a 5-0 lead in the first game. The Indian shuttler tried to cut the deficit, but Tai was always a step ahead. From deploying perfectly-disguised drop shots to bamboozling the opponent with clever wristwork, the Chinese Taipei player wrapped up the first game 21-13 in a mere 16 minutes. Staring down the barrel, Sindhu knew she had to begin well in the second game. Playing with a strategy to push Tai to the back of the court, Sindhu did well to put the second game level at 4-4. © Reuters However, a sense of urgency and desperation to push the tempo saw Sindhu committing far too many errors. When she managed to find adequate range on her deep shots, Sindhu's drops that followed were just not effective to win points. With every single point, Tai tightened her grip on the gold medal and an un-returnable smash saw her taking a 15-10 lead. The final stages of the game saw Tai earning a match point and while Sindhu managed to save one, she couldn't prolong the inevitable after her opponent notched up the gold with a brilliant drop shot. Sindhu's dream of pulling one back against Tai and securing India's first Asian games gold in badminton singles event went up in flames. If Sindhu was good, Tai was even better. There is no denying that Sindhu's silver medal is worthy of praise, it surely is. But, the fact that the Indian shuttler has now lost three finals at major events this year undoubtedly exposes an area of improvement that Sindhu needs to work on. © AP Before suffering a heartbreak against Tai, Sindhu lost the Commonwealth Games final to Nehwal in Gold Coast and the summit clash of World Championships to Carolina Marin in Nanjing earlier this year. She had also lost the finals at India Open to Beiwen Zhang and Thailand Open to Nozomi Okuhara this year. Sindhu is undeniably a fantastic shuttler who probably got outplayed by Tai in the final, but the fact she has been losing the finals more consistently than winning them is something that could very well dent her reputation and surely derail her journey to becoming one of the world's best.
  19. "Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even". Who would've thought that one of Muhammad Ali's famous quote would echo in the year 2018, in a completely different sport where the only common denominator turns out to be gloves. After losing the first Test at Edgbaston, the Indian cricket team suffered a shambolic defeat at hallowed Lord's. The margin of their loss - by an innings and 159 runs - was so unbearable that many Indian fans lost hope, with fears of yet another dismal tour of England becoming a reality. But, the Indian team didn't give up and, trailing 0-2 and with their back against wall, the visitors showed their true character to make a resounding comeback on the back of an emphatic 203-run win at Trent Bridge. A team, that was heavily criticised for their shambolic outing in the previous game, was now being celebrated as champions. And, at the heart of it all, there was pragmatic Virat Kohli. © Reuters You see, their Lord's debacle did serve as a massive wake-up call for India, but Kohli's resurgence was forged long before that. The Indian captain had endured a catastrophic tour back in 2014 where struggled to score runs. Tipped as the next big thing in cricket, Kohli was so poor - averaging 13.4 from his 10 innings - that it beggared belief. Kohli was left battered, bruised and eventually defeated. But, as Ali's quote suggests, the Indian batting sensation reached down to the bottom of his soul and came up with the extra ounce of power to bounce back. It was not just the mental preparation, no. Kohli got rid of his flawed technique that spelled his doom on 'outside the off-stump' line. The Delhi cricketer worked hard to overcome his susceptibility around the off-stump - something that was horribly exposed by James Anderson on their last tour of England. The right-hander changed his batting stance, began playing the ball late and, in process, has reaped the rewards in the ongoing tour. © Reuters For a man who was slammed by fans and pundits alike for amassing just 134 runs on the 2014 tour, Kohli has made the naysayers eat their own words by scoring 440 runs including two hundreds and as many fifties in the three Tests so far. And, the fact that he is currently leading the list of top run-scorers in the series and 234 runs ahead of Jonny Bairstow (who's ranked second in the list), goes on to show how consistent Kohli has been in the English conditions where other batsmen (from both the sides) have failed to score. Aiding India when they needed it the most, Kohli's artistry with the willow has not only given his team a new lease of life in the five-match series, but has also restored his reputation as one of the best in the business. There is nothing more gratifying for a fan than seeing a sportsman with extreme dedication to his craft reap the fruits of his labour. But, making the opponent sing your praise - especially England's high-nosed cricket fraternity - is a feat not many have managed to achieve. Here's a look at top 5 praises from Englishmen that have bolstered Kohli's stature as one of the cricket's best batsmen: 'Best-Ever Indian Batsman' © Reuters One of the most respected names in the cricket fraternity and an established commentator, former England veteran David Lloyd minced no words while showering plaudits on Kohli. “The way he constantly talks and inspires the bowlers is quite a treat. He obviously gets the respect because he is a fabulous player but you can see that the emotion apart he is very honest with his players as well. There's been a massive turnaround in this Indian team in the way quick bowlers have taken over completely and I feel Kohli is the perfect man to develop them. He looks a natural leader," Llloyd said. Branding Kohli as "the best-ever Indian batsman", he said: "Sachin Tendulkar was aesthetically very pleasing, easy on the eye. But if I had to win a game I would have banked on Brian Lara and I see that trait in Kohli. He is a bit like Viv Richards too - he can absolutely dominate an era. Sachin was a great player but Kohli can inflict more damage". 'We Should Learn From Him' © Reuters Such has been Kohli's dominance with the willow that England's assistant coach Paul Farbrace didn't shy away from suggesting that the English players can probably start learning from him. "I'm a big believer in players learning from players. I think our players should be watching the way he has played, the way he lets the ball come," Farbrace said. "He (Kohli) almost takes the third and fourth slips out of the game the way he plays at the ball. So, you are looking for the best players to learn from the best players and trying to adapt their game to suit (them). And there is no better exponent of that than him (Kohli)," he concluded. 'Deploying Goalkeepers' Technique' © Reuters Famous cricket writer - who is popularly known as 'The Analyst' in the English media circle, Simon Hughes sees traits of great goalkeepers in the way Kohli is trying to deal with the swing. "If you notice, top goalkeepers try to go forward diagonally trying to narrow the angle and meet the ball early. Kohli, in his approach to swing bowling, is doing something similar, " Hughes claimed in his assessment of the Indian skipper. "He (Kohli) is going forward in his attempt to meet the ball even before it has started to do it's bit off the pitch. It needs a great amount of skills and it's quite opposite to the popular idea of playing late in England, but he is doing the job," Hughes concluded. 'Very Disciplined' © Reuters No matter what people say, but when you're able to draw praise from the opposition captain, you know you've done good. England skipper Joe Root was all praise for Kohli after India's resounding comeback in the series. "It might be that it's difficult now but the best players always find a way to score runs and you look at someone like Virat, who is at the top of his game at the moment, and he has managed to do that. That's a good lesson for us to learn and take on board going to Southampton (4th Test venue)," Root said. “You're always looking to learn across the board, not just individual players. Virat's played extremely well, he's been very disciplined in terms of what he's trying to do and how he's trying to score his runs. It's impressive to see how he has managed to do that for long periods of time in difficult circumstances," the England skipper added. 'Best Player On The Planet' © Reuters One of England's most decorated captain, Nasser Hussain wasted no time in calling Kohli "definitely the best player on the planet right now" in his column for Sky Sports. "Kohli might not feel he had a point to prove in England after his 2014 tour but world cricket was waiting to see if he could get runs here to cement himself as a great and be up there with Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar for India," Hussain wrote. "He has put any doubts well and truly to bed, with 400 runs in conditions that have been very bowler-friendly. He is far from a flat-track bully. It's been an outstanding performance from a great, great player. I believe he is the greatest player on the planet right now. I like the balance he has between intensity and having a relaxed nature - he will talk to the umpires, talk to Anderson, Stokes and Jos Buttler but the moment he is on strike, boy, does he switch on," former England cricketer claimed.
  20. Rakhi is just around the corner and the entire city seems to be abuzz with excitement. Every other household is busy prepping for the celebrations that are all set to unfold on the morning of 26th August. © Pixabay What's more, none of the stores have held back from putting up those flashy hoardings and posters to remind you that you gotta empty your pockets for the upcoming event, lest you might forget, right? As if, that's even an option we're left with, in 2018. But things weren't this way growing up, were they? Rakhi was an affirmation of the bond we shared as siblings and reconciliations after those painful fights. It was about turning a fresh page and starting over. © Pixabay It was also about letting go of the grudges and revenge plots we'd cooked up in our heads for the other, even if it was just for that day. Because some things between siblings never change, right? The hefty gifts and the rest of the trimmings we see today came in much later. So, what we're asking is, what changed? During the good ol' days of our childhood the ritual of tying a thread or rakhi around the brother's wrist symbolised a promise and no, it wasn't just limited to protecting your sister (trust me she's done with seeking a man's protection). It meant a lot more. It still means a lot more. © Pixabay Rakhi is as much about the unspoken vow that you make to stay by her side when the world turns its back on her, to have her back when she is fighting her battles and not fight it for her! It's about respect, respecting her as an individual with a mind of her own - whether it is by the way of accepting her decisions or even her indecisiveness. To treat her with dignity and love, one that you can apply to every other woman in your life. It is about counting on her to come to your rescue when things are not in your favour and it's also about asking her to share the load with you, whatever it may be. It is about mutual respect and the love you share, as it is about holding your tongue when you're too 'tempted' to catcall at women or have a good laugh at their expense in the company of your male friends because “yeh sab toh chalta hai”. © Pixabay It is about realising that no gifts in this entire world can compensate for all the times you thought of women as lesser beings, treated them as second-class citizens AND used be******d in the same breath. What Raksha Bandhan has come to now, is simply offering your wrist to the sister to tie her 'honour'...oops...rakhi onto it, gorging on the mithais, partaking of the feast in the company of the extended family and forgetting about the rest of the promises as soon as the day ends. © Wikimedia Commons This might not be your story but there's no denying that this is the reality for a lot of men in our country. Being a brother is not a responsibility you're meant to shoulder, it's a relationship you're meant to respect and cherish Yes, a lot of guys exist who will fight the whole world for their sister's happiness and will move heaven and earth to make sure they get to live their dreams. Truly they exist and we must be grateful for them. © Pixabay But what we must come to face is that, regardless of it all we have all come across men who can put the term 'brother' to shame and from what we can guess, most of them must be someone's brother, right? So, this Rakhi, we hope you'd take this aspect (and reality) of brotherhood with a pinch of salt and perhaps consider doing things a little differently, so that the Rakhi celebrations don't just end up being yet another 'family get-together day' on our calendars.
  21. I think it can safely be said that, perhaps after cricket, badminton has become that one sport that has brought the most international glory to India. Considering the massive accomplishments of the likes of Saina Nehwal and P.V Sindhu, badminton has become a sport where India is excelling in. As such, the potential for aspiring badminton players to make it big is monumental. So if you happen to be a budding or aspiring badminton player who wants to make it big, following these simple (but effective) tips will help you get on the road to becoming a badminton pro. 1) Invest In A Quality Badminton Racket © Instagram/Srikanth Kidambi This one should be an absolute no-brainer. Just like the bat you use pretty much defines how you'll play cricket, the racket you'll be using holds paramount importance in deciding how you'll play badminton. As such, investing in the best badminton rackets out there is not only advisable, but highly recommended. Some reputable brands that you could opt for include Li-Ning, Yonex and Cosco. Pro tip: If you're on a budget, you can opt for the best badminton rackets under Rs 1000 - all of which will deliver the goods without burning a hole in your wallet. 2) Practice Makes You Perfect © Instagram/Saina Nehwal If you ask the most accomplished and renowned athletes of any sport what the secret behind their success is, most of them will tell you that it's practicing. This is true for badminton as well - where the more hours you spend practicing your game and honing your skills, the closer you'll get to realising your dream. Pro tip: Remember, you can easily get injured if you don't take care of your body or exert too much pressure on yourself. So while training is important, doing it at the expense of your physical health is not okay. 3) Don't Underestimate The Influence Your Shoes Can Have On Your Game © Instagram/Srikanth Kidambi Your choice of sports shoes isn't just a fact for flashier sports like soccer or basketball - it plays a significant role in a court game like badminton as well. So don't shy away from investing in the best badminton shoes and you'll be good to go. Apart from helping you take you improve your game, investing in the right shoes will also help you avoid injuring your foot or ankle. Pro tip: Adidas, Puma, Li-Ning and Yonex are premium brands that you could opt for. 4) Invest In A Premium (And Durable!) Shuttlecock © Instagram/Parupalli Kashyap You may have a premium racket and you might have invested in quality shoes as well, but none of it will matter if you don't invest in a premium and durable shuttlecock as well. After all, if you don't practice and hone your skills using a a-grade shuttlecock, how else will you become a pro? Pro tip: Yonex and Li-Ning are known for producing some of the the best shuttlecocks in the market. 5) Know Your Strengths And Work On Your Weaknesses © Instagram/ P.V. Sindhu Knowing your strengths and identifying (and then working) on your weaknesses is absolutely paramount in determining how good (or bad!) of a player you're going to be. After all, without identifying your weakness, how else could you possibly work and improve on that one part of your game which your opponents are most likely to exploit?
  22. Keeping 'Sanju' out of this discussion, if there are two movies that have done extraordinarily well at the box-office and broken most records in recent years, it's Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' and S.S. Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Beginning' and 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'. While the former opened floodgates of controversy ever since the reports of its release started doing the rounds and gave us a magnanimity of Alauddin Khilji in Ranveer Singh, the latter gave us Prabhas who is probably now known as Baahubali and not by his real name. © arka media works However, had things worked the way Bhansali wanted, then people would have addressed Prabhas as both Baahubali and Maharawal Ratan Singh, the character that Shahid Kapoor played in 'Padmaavat'. Reportedly, after the insane success of 'Baahubali: The Beginning', Bhansali offered the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh to Prabhas in the movie that was then titled 'Padmavati'. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were signed for the role of the goddess queen Rani Padmavati and the cruel king Alauddin Khilji. Bhansali was so impressed with Prabhas' performance as Baahubali that he decided to cast his at the courageous Maharawal Ratan Singh. © viacom 18 motion pictures According to a report in Quint, Prabhas who was then working on 'Baahubali 2' was also open to work with Bhansali but once he heard the narration and the his role, he declined from being a past of Bhansali's ambitious project. Since Maharawal Ratan Singh did not have a 'meaty role', Prabhas felt that his 5 years long hard work and the image he built will lose its impact. In fact, he was looking for a character that was as strong as that of Deepika Padukone. Honestly, has Prabhas taken up the role, he could have fulfilled his dream of becoming a king. But, he declined the offer and the role went to Shahid Kapoor who did a brilliant job as the brave, fearless and courageous Rajput king. Source: The Quint
  23. Apple has officially become the world's first trillion-dollar company as a rise in its share price made it all possible. Apple was able to beat its closest rival i.e. Amazon as Apple's share price reached $207.05. (c) Reuters The company sells everything - from the iPhone to services that was co-founded by the late Steve Jobs in 1976. The feat was accomplished a day after Apple published the company's financial results. Apple's share price has grown by 2,000% since Tim Cook replaced Jobs as the chief executive seven years ago. The company has been able to hit $1 trillion in total value 42 years after it was founded. The company managed to rake in profits of $11.5 billion in three months with a record sales of $53.3 billion in revenue. To put things into perspective, Apple generated less than $20 billion in sales before the first iPhone launched in 2006. (c) MensXP Apple could, however, lose its top position to other tech companies like Alphabet (Google) or Amazon if the company is unable to introduce a groundbreaking product or service this year. Companies don't necessarily have the same number of shares over time as they frequently buy back some of its own shares to boost up the stock price. This, in turn, reduces the number of outstanding shares which generally increases the value of each share. For now, Apple is the world's first publicly traded trillion dollar company and we can only wait to see if the company can maintain this momentum or get overtaken by one of its competitors.
  24. Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has surpassed American giant Apple to become the world's second-largest smartphone seller behind the Korean behemoth Samsung in the second quarter. According to figures released by International Data Corporation, Samsung retained the top spot after shipping 71.5 million devices, Huawei took the second position by shipping 54.2 million devices, followed by Apple shipping 41.3 million iPhones. © IDC Huawei is the largest smartphone maker in China and has been rapidly expanding to other markets. In India, the company has been selling devices via Huawei branding as well as a new sub-brand, Honor. In 2018 itself, the company has launched a new device every couple of months and has been giving tough competition to Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo. Honor's share of overall Huawei smartphone shipments increased to 36 percent this quarter. Over 4 million Honor-branded smartphones were shipped outside China. © Bhallanator / Twitter In the last few years, Huawei has been slowly launching its flagship products in Europe as well. In terms of sales, the phones have been doing much better than expected and the company's refreshed focus on innovative phones like the P20 Pro has paid off to establish a trustable brand image. “The continued growth of Huawei is impressive, to say the least, as is its ability to move into markets where, until recently, the brand was largely unknown,” said Ryan Reith, programme vice president of IDC's Worldwide Mobile Device Tracker. © BCCL While Apple will be able to bounce back a little in the coming quarter thanks to the launch of new iPhones, Huawei has managed to establish itself as a premium player with a long-term outlook. Many reviewers have rated the P20 Pro higher than Samsung's S9, and the tri-camera setup on the rear is one of its kind. Apple, Huawei, and Samsung are the main contenders when it comes to competition for high-end smartphones priced at US$ 700 or more. © Nikkei Asian Review Huawei has been barred from selling devices in the U.S.A after concerns over Chinese government extracting user data via the smartphone maker. While Huawei has strongly denied any wrongdoing and continues to maintain that no user data is fetched back to China, the company has been forcefully dragged into the ongoing American - Chinese trade war.
