  1. Tenet is soon going to hit the theatres. Aside from being one of the first films to release in theatres (amid the coronavirus pandemic) in the country, it also happens to have scenes that were shot in India. However, Tenet is not the first Hollywood action feature that was shot in the country, there have been a few before. These include: 1. Extraction © IMDB Extraction was a huge Netflix hit at the time of its release. It was produced by Marvel fame Joe and Anthony Russo. Contrary to popular belief, the film wasn’t shot in Dhaka but in Thailand and Ahmedabad, India. All the bustling streets seen in the film are perhaps the actual streets of Ahmedabad. 2. Tenet © IMDB Christopher Nolan filmed Tenet in different parts of Mumbai. Different scenes were shot in South Mumbai in areas like the Colaba Causeway, outside the famous Cafe Mondegar, the Breach Candy hospital, and behind the iconic Taj Hotel as well. We'll get to see these scenes once the film finally hits the theatres here. It's going to be one of the first films to release amid the coronavirus pandemic. 3. Octopussy © IMDB Octopussy was the thirteenth edition of the James Bond franchise, and also the sixth in line to feature Roger Moore as the iconic 007. Most scenes were shot in Udaipur. In the film, Kamal Khan, an exiled Afghan prince owns a palace in Rajasthan. He is defeated by Bond in the film. It is a treat to watch the film with familiar backgrounds. 4. Slumdog Millionaire © IMDB Slumdog Millionaire was filmed in India and is also inspired from Vikas Swarup’s novel Q&A. The film was in the shot in the Juhu slums. The movie went on to win eight Academy Awards in 2008 including Best Film, Best Director for Danny Boyle, and Original Score for AR Rahman as well. 5. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protcol © IMDB Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is fourth in the line of the Mission Impossible franchise. Directed by Brad Bird, the film stars Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as agent Ethan Hunt, with Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton as well. Some scenes in the film were shot in the lanes of Mumbai. These also happen to feature Anil Kapoor as Brij Nath in the film. 6. The Dark Knight Rises © IMDB Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises has one particularly striking scene wherein Bruce Wayne played by Christian Bale is seen fleeing a jail. The jail was, in fact, Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh Fort. The film was the swan song film of The Dark Knight Trilogy. View the full article
  2. There is nothing like a big fat Indian wedding. Desi shaadis are nothing short of an extravaganza in the garb of a union between two individuals and their families. A typical Indian wedding, for the most part, will have these following elements. Firstly, there would be a huge gathering! Expect at least three to four generations of family members to be in attendance apart from a whole bunch of excited friends and awkward colleagues. Next, desi weddings are loud AF all with live bands, fireworks and crackers as well as a DJ who seems to have sworn off his soul to fufa ji and plays just the kind of music which pushes all his buttons. © Outcry Entertainment This is followed by a fashion walk of sorts, where every attendee is trying to outdo the others, including the bride and the groom, when it comes dressing in glorious attires and showing off all the gold and precious gems they own. Then of course, there is THE feast where the norm is to have a three-course buffet meal which caters to every kind of palate, although taya ji will still find something to complain about in the menu. © Outcry Entertainment Thatâs a typical Indian wedding for you on a regular day. But, things have been anything but regular of late and all of this is now a thing of the past. At least for 2020, and if we are too unlucky, things might be no different in 2021 as well. With the coronavirus wreaking havoc in India, as well as globally, a lot has changed. But the one thing that will always remain a part of our lives are weddings. But that too had to undergo many modifications in order to make the whole affair suitable for the current circumstances. And no we arenât talking about the court or video call weddings, but a true blue desi wedding. © Outcry Entertainment With government restrictions on hosting weddings, many couples have either postponed their weddings or have been forced to get married under restrictions which call for physical distancing and a limited guestlist of not more than 50 people at the ceremony. A recent wedding in Mumbai gave us a glimpse of what big fat Indians weddings will probably look like in the times of coronavirus. Organised by a luxury wedding planning company named Outcry Entertainment, they managed to bring the coupleâs wishes to life without flouting any government rules. © Outcry Entertainment Hosted at The LaLit, Mumbai, the organizers ensured the safety of the guests without hampering the 'larger than life' aspect of the wedding. Ample safety measures were put in place and hygiene standards were maintained at the venue at all times. Every prop and surface was sanitized Talking about his wedding, groom Saurabh Shah said, âAiming at zero compromise at fun, wedding feels and excitement, they made this event happen with complete Covid safety norms. I got a mask that matched my sherwani with a shawl and a turban.â © Outcry Entertainment "This also looks like a beginning towards a new way of doing events and adapting to scenarios that no one has experienced before. Peopleâs wishes and need to move on with their life was a matter of great concern for me as Wedding Planner. Style statement and the luxurious feel of the weddings will never bow down to restrictions imposed because of Covid," believes Saurabh Chaudhary, Director of Outcry Entertainment. © Outcry Entertainment Given the current scenario and looking at the pictures from the event we agree with Saurabh that this might indeed be the new normal for Big Fat Indian weddings in the times to come. Itâs true that this looks nothing like the usual stuff and itâs all new, but there is no denying that this is the need of the hour and the best we can expect in a situation like ours. 7. Being successful in anything you do is never a cakewalk. Lives of the successful might look bright and beautiful but even they were once at a stage wherein fame and goals were a far game for them. Rejections are just a milestone of reaching to the top of the hill. Many acclaimed Bollywood actors were also once rejected but their consistency and hard-work led them to where-ever they are today. Here is a list of Bollywood actors who were rejected at the beginning of their career but won us over with consistency: 1. Ranveer Singh View this post on InstagramBest Actor - Hindi Criticsâ Choice Film Awards 2020 ð Film critics are hard to please, so this feels pretty awesome! :) Thank you @criticschoicefilmawards and the entire @filmcriticsguild of India for honouring my work. #gullyboy ðð½A post shared by (@ranveersingh) Ranveer Singh was once rejected for having âaverageâ looks and we wonder what that means. 8. With every single day passing by in lockdown, we can feel a little bit of fat accumulating on our bellies, thighs and everywhere else in general. If you havenât been working out regularly while in self-quarantine, you will be in for a surprise once you go back to the gym and fire up that treadmill or start running on the tracks. A drop in stamina, strength and agility are common outcomes of lack of physical activity, especially for this long, and it will take due course of time to get back to the fitness level you were once at. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@hockeyindia) Luckily, we had the Indian hockey teamâs PR Sreejesh and Harmanpreet Singh with us to share their expert advice on how to avoid a big tummy by the time the fields are safe to play and the gyms are open again. âIt is very important to take care of general fitness during the lockdown and work on your entire body, not just your stomach. Fitness drills and bodyweight exercises like push-ups, sit-ups and spot running with a band are great and highly effective for workouts at home,â says Sreejesh, the Indian goalkeeper. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@sreejesh88) âWe are focussing on maintaining our overall fitness and therefore we emphasize on strengthening all of our muscle groups. For any hockey player, the forearm is very important. So I try to focus on developing my forearm further sometimes. Our Scientific Advisor ensures that we are doing drills which will improve our overall fitness day by day,â says Harmanpreet Singh, who plays as a defender. Here are a few exercises that you can try at home and ensure your fitness levels donât take a sudden dip: 1. Skipping It is one of the best ways to lose weight and keep your body active as it makes your entire body move. While getting rid of the fat, it also helps shape your muscles, especially in your hips, thighs and stomach. It is also one of the few exercises which help burn a lot of calories quickly. 2. Push-ups Push-ups are an excellent bodyweight workout to focus on your chest, shoulders and triceps. There are so many variations of the push-ups such as decline push-ups and diamond pushups for generation greatest pressure on multiple body parts. If you are unable to hold your entire body weight, knee push-ups are also an option. 3. Lunges All you need is a staircase and you are in business for lunges. Other than strengthening your back, hips and legs, lunges also help you with weight loss, bringing balance to either side of your body and make your body more symmetrical. 4. Resistance Band Training A pair of resistance bands can help you take care of almost all sorts of exercises your body needs. You can focus on your shoulders, core, hips and legs with a single band as well and they are a great way to start exercises as it avoids the risk of injury from lifting heavy weights. The athletes went on to share why it is important not just for sportspersons but for the common folk as well, to pay close attention to their fitness. âSpending time on exercises helps everyone to keep negative thoughts away. I really look forward to fitness drills every day. It's one of the biggest highlights of the day for me,â Singh says. View the full article
  9. The lockdown period amid the coronavirus crisis gives us time to binge on shows that we always wanted to but never got the time. While some iconic shows have been popular for remarkable narrative set-up, here's the thing, no show can be truly perfect and goof-ups are inevitable. So here are 10 mistakes in iconic shows that you might've missed while watching the show the first time. 1. Made In Heaven © IMDB/ goof-ups page In the second episode of the show, Shibani mentions that Jazz (Jaspreet) lives in Dwarka, but in the following episodes, her brother is seen wasted in Hauz Rani Park because of drugs, and the apartments near Shek Sarai is made to look like her house, which is at least more than an hour away from Dwarka. 2. Game of Thrones © IMDB/ goof-ups page In season 6, it is revealed that Melisandre has a life-altering choker necklace that gives youth to her otherwise aged body. So whenever she removes it, she turns into an old woman. But, in season 4, episode 7 when Melisandre takes a bath, she's not wearing the necklace, and yet her youthfulness is still intact. 3. Sacred Games © IMDB/ goof-ups page With parallel timelines that were years apart from each other in Gaitonde's universe, Jameela and Jojo did not seem to age at all as compared to the RAW agent and Gaitonde himself. 4. Friends © IMDB/ goof-ups page It's been more than ten years since Friends ended. But, here's a goof-up that you may not have noticed. In the episode, The One With Rachel's Date, Phoebe and Monica are sitting in Central Perk drinking coffee. However, when the scene cuts to Phoebe, there's an unidentified woman sitting next to her as Monica, who visibly looks nothing like Courtney Cox. 5. Mahabharata © IMDB/ goof-ups page In episode 49 of Mahabharata, Bhishmapitama is spotted with an electric cooler in the background. An electric invention that could not have been there in his time, certainly. However, a different narrative says that it was actually the design of the pillars in the background. Probably we should watch it again, just to investigate. 6. Friends © IMDB/ goof-ups page In an episode, Phoebe was present in two different places at the same time. In the pilot episode where Monica introduces everyone to Paul the Wine Guy, Phoebe is in the kitchen when she realises, she pulled out four eyelashes. The scene immediately cuts to Paul sitting in the living room and Phoebe is sitting right behind him. 7. Downton Abbey © IMDB/ goof-ups page Downton Abby is set in 1912. The storyline depicts the lives of an aristocratic family living in a fictional Yorkshire country estate in Downton Abbey. The drama usually gets attention to get the details from the time correct in portraying the 19th century England, Then, we came across this picture of the show wherein, a clear plastic water bottle water is visible in the background. Looks like someone was thirsty on the set. 8. The Simpsons © IMDB/ goof-ups page In the episode, And Maggie Makes Three, Marge tells Homer that she's pregnant with Maggie, but it's funny because baby Maggie is already there in a picture hanging on the wall behind Marge when she breaks the news to Homer. 9. How I Met Your Mother In season 2 of How I Met Your Mother, Ted's date brutally smashes the car windshield, but in the next shot, the glass seems to be intact and spotless. In season 1, when Marshal runs through the cloud of smoke towards the Limo, the audience gets a glimpse of the fog machine the makers didn't bother to remove from the screen which is just awkward. 10. Game Of Thrones © IMDB/ goof-ups page For a show set in a timeline with no electricity, electric chargers sure do seem out of place. In the episode where Stannis Baratheon was defeated, there's a charger kept under his leg. It could also be his mic when the scene was being shot. View the full article
  10. Owing to the Coronavirus lockdown, we all are staying at home with no connection with the outside world. Well, all the streets are empty and you get to see more animals than human faces. Amitabh Bachchan is also missing the days when he used to see âecstatic wild faces and mobiles recording the momentâ outside his home during his 'Sunday Darshan' ritual. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@amitabhbachchan) Last night, he wrote, âThe Sunday does not mean the same as before .. waiting for the time to arrive .. the security in place .. that familiar sound of the step board being dragged into position .. that familiar scream of the well-wishers at the gate as each domestic entrant enters and leaves premises .. of the knowing that âheâ comes .. and then IT.â He further added, âecstatic wild faces and mobiles recording the moment .. those smiling hands and the designated positioning of the ef that shall eventually find space inside the home .. moments of connect with the familiar and the informed Ef .. the ones on the buildings ahead .. precariously positioned at vantage points .. the cheer and laments, the letters of recommendations, the out of the country guests .. numerous gift s and handicrafts from the near that have come within .. photographs .. return wave at the opposite balcony as you walk in the front door.â © Amitabh Bachchan/Tumblr © Amitabh Bachchan/Tumblr His blog is quite relatable as we are also missing human faces and itâs more than a month that we have stepped out of our houses.Big B had cancelled the ritual of the âSunday meetâ due to the outbreak of coronavirus on March 3 and has been trying to educate his fans about the importance of social distancing. Meanwhile, his wife Jaya Bachchan is stationed in Delhi as she couldnât travel back to Mumbai owing to the lockdown. Well, itâs time we all fight together to bring normalcy back. 11. Mukesh Khannaâs comments mocking Sonakshi Sinha on her knowledge about the mythological saga âRamayanâ got a lot of attention on social media. Today, the veteran actor defended his own statement and explained that he took her name as an example and did not intend to demean her. It happened right after Sonakshiâs father Shatrughan Sinha ranted in an interview taking a dig at the Shaktimaan actor. Let us take you back to how it all started. 1. April 4: It was earlier this month when the mythological sagas Ramayan and Mahabharat started to telecast again and in an interview, Mukesh Khanna was asked to react on the same. Khanna had played the role of Bhishma Pitamah in the iconic mythological show Mahabharat which aired on Doordarshan in the 90s. © Doordarshan In the interview, he took a pot-shot at Sonakshi Sinha by bringing up the fact that she did not know anything about Indian mythology. So you might remember how Sonakshi was trolled on social media after she featured on Kaun Banega Crorepati where she was asked a question from the Ramayan and she couldn't answer it. Referring to that episode, Mukesh Khanna had said, âI think the reruns will be useful to many who havenât watched the show earlier. It will also help people like Sonakshi Sinha who have no knowledge about our mythological sagas. People like her donât know who lord Hanuman got Sanjivani for.â 2. April 7: After his statement started to go viral, Mukeshâs Mahabharat co-star Nitish Bhardwaj had also criticized his comments on Sonakshi and questioned why to target Sonakshi alone and added that there is always a better way to say the same thing. He added that seniors should be empathetic towards their juniors. 3. April 11: Well, Sonakshiâs father Shatrughan Sinha came in defense of his daughter and gave it back to Mukesh Khanna without even mentioning his name. Shatrughan Sinha told an entertainment portal, âI believe someone has a problem with Sonakshi not answering a question on the Ramayan. Firstly what qualifies this person to be an expert on all things to do with the Ramayan? And who has appointed him the guardian of the Hindu religion? I am very proud of my three children. Sonakshi became a star on her own. I never had to launch her career. She is a daughter any father would be proud to have. Not answering a question on the Ramayan doesnât disqualify Sonakshi from being a good Hindu. She doesnât need a certificate of approval from anyone.â View this post on InstagramHappy Fathers day to my handsome papa and all the other papas, dads, abbus, dadas, babas, bapus out there â¤ï¸ @shatrughansinhaofficialA post shared by (@aslisona) 4. April 12: Puneet Issar, who is known for his performance as Duryodhan in B. R. Chopra's mythological show Mahabharata, also slammed Mukesh for his insensitive remark targeting Sonakshi. In an interview, he said, âKhanna shouldnât have said that. Sonakshi is an AVM student, my kids too went there. If she didnât know one question of Ramayan in KBC, the world wouldn't end there. Why should one condemn someone so openly? At least I wouldnât have said what Khanna has said,â he said. âAs you age, you should be grateful. âPhal lagte hain toh pedh jhuk jaana chahiye (A fruit-bearing tree should bow down),â he added. 5. April 13/14: Mukesh Khanna has now defended his statements saying that he wasnât demeaning Sonakshi. In an interview with TOI, âPeople have blown my comment out of proportion and presented it wrongly to Shatruji. I have known him for long and have immense respect for him. I took Sonakshiâs name as a mere example. It does not mean I was trying to demean her or question her knowledge. My intention was not to target her. However, I am shocked to see how the current generation is not aware of many things.â Well, itâs high time that we stop using Sonakshi Sinhaâs example all over again and again but I totally get what Mukesh Khanna has been saying that we the millennials lack knowledge about our mythological sagas. But, itâs unfair to take any name to support your argument knowing that Sonakshi has already faced the brunt because of the same. View the full article

  14. India has come a long way in the way it loves. People are crossing socio-cultural, linguistic and even religious barriers to be with the one who makes their world go round. However, for many of them, such brave love stories end on a sad note. From honour killings to ostracism, couples have to bear a tragic aftermath for choosing to love or marrying outside their caste or religious community. © Instagram However, the Kerala government has come up with an innovative and highly commendable tactic to keep such tragedies at bay by opening âsafe homesâ for inter-caste and inter-religion couples. The idea is to provide these couples with a space where they can seek shelter and protection during their time of need. The initiative has been proposed by the Department of Social Justice and aims to open such multiple safe facilities across all the districts in Kerala. © Getty Images Talking about the proposal, Kerala Social Justice Minister K K Shailaja informed the media that the groundwork for setting up these 'safe homes' has already begun, and inter-faith and inter-caste couples can stay in these homes for up to one year after marriage. Thatâs not all, couples seeking the benefits of these safe homes will also be given financial assistance worth Rs 30,000 for general category couples and Rs 75,000 for scheduled caste couples, in order to promote self-employment. © Getty Images This path-breaking announcement comes after the relatives of an upper-caste woman in Kottayam abducted and killed her Dalit Christian husband in 2018. Kerala has yet again shown us that it is always stepping up its game when it comes to turning a new leaf and giving hope for a better future. And this is no exception. We hope other states notice this example and take inspiration from Godâs own country. View the full article

All it took for four-time CrossFit Games champ Vedharth Thappa, was such a decision that helped him carve out his own path and go places. His experience with CrossFit had such a deep impact on him, that Vedharth decided to switch to fitness full-time. The Big Decision It was his new-found love for CrossFit that pushed Vedharth to take the big leap of deciding to give up his family business in favour of making it big in the fitness industry and focus on the CrossFit Games. 20. A 25-year-old Sanju Samson may have over 3000 T20 runs under his belt but just two international appearances. Having played his very first match for the Indian cricket team all the way back in 2015 in Harare, Zimbabwe, the cricketer got his second and seemingly last chance in the time to come, to don the blue kit on Friday, January 10, 2020. Sanju Samson finally gets to play his second T20I; his first came in 2015. Three changes for India, while Angelo Mathews and Lakshan Sandakan are back in Sri Lanka's XI https://t.co/vYyCfFtg1i #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/fU1zLKE02O — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) January 10, 2020 This atypically long gap between two international matches made Samson the owner of an unwarranted record for most T20Is missed between two appearances. By the looks of it, Samson's misfortunes as a Man in Blue continue to haunt him as the team has decided to drop him yet again ahead of the five T20Is to be played against New Zealand on foreign soil. India's T20I squad for NZ tour announced: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), KL Rahul, S Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, W Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur — BCCI (@BCCI) January 12, 2020 Emotions were flowing at full strength during the third and final T20I between India and Sri Lanka when Samson was promoted to bat one-down in the batting order by skipper Virat Kohli. There was a feeling of desperation in Samson's eyes when he approached the pitch. He wanted to show the world that he belonged on the ground, he wanted to show the world that he was good enough. The first ball that he faced, the Trivandrum favourite smashed the delivery for a maximum but the second delivery by Wanindu Hasaranga trapped him with a clear LBW and that was it for the glorious return of the wicket-keeper batsman. #INDvsSL Pic 1: Samson first ball six Pic 2: Samson out LBW pic.twitter.com/5qFRpDc8bz — Akshay Batra (@theakshaybatra) January 10, 2020 “With time and experience I have come to realise that I need to have a very clear head and a balanced state of mind,” Samson had told me back in November, 2019 but at that moment, his mind was pacing and his face gave away the frustration like a bad poker player. Was this how his international career had to end? Will he be remembered as nothing but a tiny spec of dust in the vast history that Indian cricket boasts? “What was that cricketer's name who had a lot of potential but never made it big,” is this how the future generations were going to address the man? It's actually little unfair on Sanju Samson, he didn't do anything wrong. The only opportunity he got after 4 years in which he had to go from very first ball! They should've selected him for 5 long T20Is against New Zealand.#SanaWorldWide #SanjuSamson # pic.twitter.com/3kAyu48IXw — Rahul Nath (@Rntk____) January 12, 2020 Even though age is on his side and the fact that he will continue to earn a ton of money given his brilliance in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League, there is not a bigger honour for an athlete to represent their nation but by the looks of it, Samson might not receive that honour anytime soon. 21. Arguably one of the biggest Twenty20 (T20) competitions in the world, Big Bash League (BBL) has struck a chord with fans for its knack to produce exciting contests over the years. From great batting performances, majestic bowling spells to spectacular fielding displays, the BBL has got it all. The ongoing ninth edition of Australia's T20 tournament has proved to be no different as the city-based franchises, comprising of some of the biggest names in international cricket, continue to outsmart each other in a bid to clinch the coveted trophy. But, during the clash between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat on 9th January, the BBL, once again, became the talk of the town owing to a unique fielding effort by Matt Renshaw. The 15th over during the Hobart Hurricanes innings saw their captain Mathew Wade lofting Ben Cutting in what initially looked like the left-handed batsman's third six of the match. However, great awareness by Renshaw, who was patrolling the boundary, saw him pulling off a great relay catch which was eventually galloped by Tom Banton. Matthew Wade has to go after this spectacular effort from Matt Renshaw that will lead to plenty of debate about the Laws of Cricket! #BBL09 pic.twitter.com/wGEN8BtF5u â cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) January 9, 2020 Running in from long-on, Renshaw caught the ball high above his head. But, realising that he was going to step over the ropes, Renshaw tossed the ball in the air before jumping again, beyond the fence, and pushing it straight into the hands of Banton who had come to the aid of his teammate. While Renshaw's unique relay catch left the Gabba crowd at the edge of their seats, it left the match officials in a fix. The on-field umpires gave a soft signal as out, but the third umpire claimed it was not out before overturning the decision to eventually give the marching orders to Wade. The confusion encouraged everyone to take notice of a Laws of Cricket rule change made over six years ago. In October 2013, the Laws of Cricket were updated to deem catches similar to Renshaw legal. According to Law 19.5.2, a fielder who is not in contact with the ground is considered to be grounded beyond the boundary if his/her final contact with the ground, before his/her first contact with the ball after it has been delivered by the bowler, was not entirely within the boundary. Iâve got no problem with where he left from. Itâs where he ends up. After he touches the ball he needs to end up back in the field of play. If thatâs not the rule then the whole thing is farcical and the rule needs to change. https://t.co/Y797AsxP5G â Jimmy Neesham (@JimmyNeesh) January 9, 2020 Additionally, the Law 33.2.1 states that a catch will be fair only if, in every case either the ball, at any time or any fielder in contact with the ball, is not grounded beyond the boundary before the catch is completed. Also, note Laws 19.4 (Ball grounded beyond the boundary) and 19.5 (Fielder grounded beyond the boundary). Renshaw's presence of mind clearly made the difference as Heat managed to send swashbuckling Wade back into the hut after scoring 61 runs which, in turn, saw Hurricanes bundling out for a mere 126 runs and eventually losing the contest by five wickets. But, Renshaw's unique relay catch had cricket fans and pundits divided on social media. With that logic, a fielder can just stand outside the rope and just jump and push the ball back on field and save sixes. Itâs just a dumb rule. â Rehan Azhar (@S_R_A11) January 9, 2020 what law of cricket? standing outside the field of play n hitting it back to a team mate and being called out? what a joke. â Braedon (@carree6_) January 9, 2020 They need to correct this rule . Ridiculous â Sushil Acharya (@ach_sushil98) January 9, 2020 Literally one of the more stupid rules makes no sense â Tim cahill's son (@Jmac191919) January 9, 2020 Player can now sit in the stands jump up catch the ball , throw it back and the batsmen will be out. Absolute crap rule â Jason Camac (@Egrange2080) January 9, 2020 It always makes me giggle to think that a player can keep bobbing the ball up and go into the stands and get a hotdog â Rylan Dawson (@Dawso26) January 9, 2020 Thereâs many laws of cricket that are stupid & that are also written stupidly. This one fits into both of those categories. â jayw (@puntfiend) January 9, 2020 View the full article
  22. Photo: FileLOS ANGELES: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker continues to rule the cinematic universe, keeping its top ranking in North American theaters this weekend with $34.5 million, industry watcher Exhibitor Relations said Monday. That brought the three-week domestic total for the Disney film — marketed as a grand finale of the nine-film Skywalker Saga — to $451.6 million. It has taken an additional $468 million overseas, as it inches closer to the $1 billion mark overall. Holding onto the second spot again was Sony's Jumanji: The Next Level, an action sequel with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart, which took in $26.2 million for the Friday-through-Sunday period. Overall, it was an impressive weekend for Sony, which had three films in the top five. Its Little Women moved up from fourth last weekend to third, with a take of $13.6 million. The Greta Gerwig-directed version of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel has drawn strong reviews from critics. Many were irate that it missed out on nods for best director or best film at the weekend´s Golden Globes. Saoirse Ronan did get a best actress nomination for her role as Jo March, but lost to Renee Zellweger (Judy). Disney grabbed fourth spot with Frozen II. The animated musical about Queen Elsa and her gang took in $11.9 million in its seventh week out. With an accumulated global total of $1.3 billion, it has become the top-grossing animated film of all time, surpassing The Incredibles 2, Disney said. Yet another Sony movie, new release The Grudge, placed fifth at $11.4 million. The supernatural horror film is a remake of a 2002 Japanese movie. The movie got a rare "F" rating from audiences — the lowest possible grade. It is only the 20th film in 40 years to do so, according to the CinemaScore website. Rounding out the top 10 were:Spies in Disguise ($10.4 million) Knives Out ($8.9 million) Uncut Gems ($7.6 million) Bombshell ($4.1 million) Cats ($2.6 million)
  23. The world may not think much of Abhishek Bachchan the actor, but nobody can challenge the fact that AB Jr has delivered some really good performances over the course of his Bollywood journey, so far. For many of his admirers, one such memorable performance of the actor was in Guru and undeniably, it is perhaps one of his best performances on the silver screen. For anybody who has watched the movie, it would surely be difficult to imagine somebody else portray the role of Gurukant Desai than Abhishek. © Madras Talkies His powerful and more-than-convincing performance in the film won him much-deserved acclaim, and with the recently-shared first look of Abhishek's next film The Big Bull coming out, we have an inkling that it wouldn't be wrong to expect a Guru-like reboot from this film inspired by one of India's most infamous scammers and broker Harshad Mehta. Now, let us tell you why. Right from the very subject of The Big Bull, to the genre that the film is set to deal with, it's pretty much in keeping with a Bildungsroman, or simply put, a narrative that traces the rise of a protagonist. © Quora That brings us to the most important part of this article. Who da fcuk is Harshad Mehta. Who Is Harshad Mehta On the surface level, suffice it to say that Harshad Mehta was the brightest stockbroker India had seen in the 80s, who fell from grace at the end of the 20th century after having acquired a colossal wealth and fame through his trading secrets. Until one fine day, Harshad “Big Bull” Mehta turned into India's 'king of scams' who was served with 27 criminal charges against him. Before his sudden death, while in police custody due to a heart ailment in 2001, Harshad was convicted in four of the twenty-seven criminal charges against him. The (In)Famous 1992 Security Scam © Twitter It was journalist Sucheta Dala who exposed Mehta and his accomplices' scam in 1992 through an article that was published in The Times of India. In her own words, this is what Mehta had been doing to hike up stock prices and make truckloads of money by fooling small-scale banks and stock buyers. © Twitter “The crucial mechanism through which the scam was effected was the ready forward (RF) deal. The RF is in essence a secured short-term (typically 15-day) loan from one bank to another. Crudely put, the bank lends against government securities just as a pawnbroker lends against jewellery. The borrowing bank actually sells the securities to the lending bank and buys them back at the end of the period of the loan, typically at a slightly higher price. It was this ready forward deal that Mehta and his accomplices used with great success to channel money from the banking system.” The Perfect 'Bollywood' Subject © Twitter Before the exposé, Harshad channelled the perfect 'Pied Piper' of the Indian stock market, who succeeded in fuelling the greed and aspiration of millions of middle-class Indian in the 90s. His rise made for the perfect 'rags to riches' story that people are eager to grab a bite of - a small-town boy who turned into the “Sultan of Dalal Street” until he was overthrown. With Abhishek on the forefront of The Big Bull, we are hoping to witness the journey of Hashad Mehta the way we saw Gurukant Desai's. View the full article
