Hrithik Roshan or the ‘Greek god’ of Bollywood is known for his choice of movies and the kind of work he puts into them. However , sometimes when you read about an actor rejecting an offer, it makes you wonder why they did so. Here are 5 films rejected by the star which went on to become blockbusters. 1. SwadesWhile Hrithik worked with Ashutosh Gowariker in Jodhaa Akbar, he wasn’t too keen to do Swades. In an interview he later explained why he rejected the film. “I had read Ashutosh’s script for Swades. I couldn’t see it from the director’s perspective, and therefore didn’t think I was equipped to perform the part. I wasn’t the best person to translate Ashutosh’s vision. And this was right after Lagaan so when Ashutosh came to me I felt on top of the world. Swades is one of my favourite films. And Ashutosh is definitely one of my favourite filmmakers” he said. 2. BaahubaliThe Greek God of Bollywood was offered the titular role but since he had just finished wrapping up Jodhaa Akbar, he wasn’t in a zone to take up another period drama. Although on a show, the director has mentioned that he only had Prabhas in mind for the role. 3. Dil Chahta HaiAs per reports and various interviews, it was reported that Hrithik was offered the role of Sameer and even Sid in DCH. However, the actor wasn’t keen on taking up the role and well, rest is history. It went on to become one of the most iconic movies of all time. 4. Rang De BasantiAs per reports, Hrithik was approached by the makers for playing the role of Karan Singhania, which was later taken by Siddharth. 5. LagaanHrithik was originally offered Lagaan but again the actor wasn’t too sure about the script. When Aamir took over the project, the film eventually went on to reach the Oscars. Filmmakers in Bollywood often âremakeâ films from the Tamil & Telugu film industries quite blatantly. This is an indisputable fact, that the film-viewing public, especially fans of Bollywood are painstakingly aware of. However, that was not always the case. © Bhadrakali Pictures, AA Films For a really long time actually it was the other way round. Mainstream Bollywood films, especially in the 1970s, the golden age of Hindi cinema, were often remade in the south. However, once the filmmakers of that era hung their hats up, things went haywire for Bollywood. © Yash Raj Films, AVM Productions Caption: Trishul was remade as Mr Bharath in Tamil That is not to say that modern Bollywood films arenât remade in the south. On the contrary, there are actually quite a few really great Hindi films that have been remade in the Tamil, or Telugu or film industries. Of course, they had their own flavour and nuances, but the plot and the treatment of the plot were copied from the Bollywood originals. © NH STUDIOZ Here are 8 films that have been remade in the Southern film industries, simply because, the stories of the film were too good to pass on. 1. Pink © NH STUDIOZ, S Pictures Tamil Remake: Nerkonda Paarvai Pink remains to be probably one of the best films India has made in the last decade. It had some really great performances and was brutally realistic. The story, and the treatment of the plot were certainly the hero of the film. The Tamil remake saw Ajith take up the role of Amitabh Bachchan. Obviously, this one just had to be remade. 2. Delhi Belly © UTV Motion Pictures Tamil Remake: Settai Delhi Belly was a gritty film that pretty much everyone enjoyed thoroughly. This is again, one of those films that had a very strong story and plot, and for a small budget film, it did really well, especially when you consider the fact that there were no grade-A established actors cast in the film. 3. Pyaar Ka Punchnama © Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Maruthi Telugu Remake: Green Signal As problematic & misogynistic Pyaar Ka Punchnama has turned out to be over the years, there is no point in denying that when it initially came out, a lot of people genuinely enjoyed the film, and related to the story. The Telugu remake, Green Signal, tried replicating the same but failed, if some people are to be believed. 4. Jolly LLB © Fox Star Studios Tamil Remake: Manithan Jolly LLB was a very endearing film for a number of reasons. It was a collection of amazing performances, a very gripping story, and a brilliantly written script. Arshad Warsi & Boman Irani were just impeccable. The Tamil remake, although not as hilarious, is still a very powerful film. 5. Kahani © Viacom 18 Motion Pictures Telugu Remake: Anaamika Although Kahani did okay at the box office, it was a phenomenal success on OTT & television. That just goes on to show how well the story was laid out. And then of course, there was Vidya Balanâs performance. The Telugu version of the film is set in Hyderabad, and blends in the cultural nuances that the city of Nizams had to offer. But in every other aspect, it is very close to the Bollywood original. 6. Khosla Ka Ghosla © UTV Motion Pictures Tamil Remake: Poi Solla Porom Khosla Ka Ghosla as a film is simply a class apart. It is a proper comedy while being a very scathing commentary on a number of key, social issues that the common man in India may have to go through. Of course, this one just had to be remade. 7. A Wednesday © UTV Motion Pictures Tamil Remake: Unnaipol Oruvan Telugu Remake: Eenadu Yeah, A Wednesday was remade by both, the Tamil AND Telugu film industries. Do we really need to tell you why? Without a doubt, it is one of the best films that has been made in India, with a story that deserves to be told in every part of the world that is battling terrorism. 8. 3 Idiots © Reliance BIG Pictures, Gemini Film Circuit Tamil Remake: Nanban For a long, long time, 3 Idiots was considered to be the benchmark of a good Hindi movie, and rightly so. Only very recently did we actually start seeing some of the problematic aspects of the film. But nonetheless, it was a damn funny film, that was also very poignant at times. And then, there was the performance of the film at the box office, and on cable. Of course, this one was going to be remade. View the full article

Say what you will, but Chris Hemsworthâs Extraction is one cracker of a film. The internet is genuinely unable to stop talking about the film. The reason why we all love the film and cannot seem to get enough of it, is the sheer manner in which films based on rescue operations make us cling to the edge of our seats - the genre itself is anxiety-inducing. © Netflix That got us thinking, what are some other rescue op films that were as good as Extraction. Well, it turns out there are tons actually. However, we pick our favourite 5. Saving Private Ryan, 1998 You had to see this coming. Saving Private Ryan was not just a cult classic, it was a masterpiece. It had some stellar performances by Edward Burns and Matt Damon, but the highlight of the film, Tom Hanks, just stole the show. And can you really forget that monologue that Damon delivered, once he was rescued? © Smithsonian Although the manner in which Hollywood does World War II films is problematic, in the sense they take a lot of artistic liberties, and often twist the real incident beyond recognition, the cinematography in Saving Private Ryan and direction was powerful and poignant. What else can you expect from someone like Steven Spielberg? Is it any wonder that it is a part of the curriculum in a number of film making institutes all over the world. And do we need to remind you of the furore when it lost out on an Oscar for best film? Dunkirk, 2017 I will be the first one to say that Dunkirk certainly does not represent the abilities that Christopher Nolan has, and what his fans have come to expect of him. However, as a rescue op, and as a war film, it certainly is one of the best. As audiences, you genuinely feel the uncertainty that comes to mind when your survival is at risk, and a gruesome and brutal death is all but certain. © Smithsonian The beauty of the film lies in the performances that Nolan has extracted out of actors like Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan and of all people, Harry Styles. And of course, there is Nolanâs technical skills, which makes the cinematic experience a joy to behold, no matter how gruesome the scene is. Captain Phillips, 2013 Yet another film that captures the paralysing anxiety of rescue operation that can go horribly wrong. Tom Hanks, very effortlessly, conveyed what the real Richard Phillips must have had to go through for those 5-7 days when he was held captive by Somali Pirates. © Reuters Even though pretty much the entire world knew what had actually happened on the Maersk Alabama, the ship that Captain Richard Phillips was commanding, the filmmakers and the actors were able to tie them up in suspense. Truly, the hallmark of a great film. Argo, 12 Now, there were a lot things wrong with the film, especially some of the dialogues that we heard Ben Affleck speak, and again, the misrepresentation of certain key facts that the film was accused of. However, the real-life incident, as well as the film were so fantastically bonkers that we had to include it in the list. © AFP Imagine you are stuck in a hostile country, that wants to kill you, and your government sends in your rescuer who pretends to be film executive from some other country who wants to make a film on a fictional character in the hostile land. Sounds unbelievable, right? Well, watch the film and see how they actually made it quite believable. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, 2016 And finally, we have 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi or simply 13 Hours. John Krasinski is surely shaping up to be one of the best action stars that we get to see in Hollywood and in 13 Hours you get to see where exactly things started turning for The Office star. © AFP Yes, the film is a little cliched and formulaic when it comes to your rescue/survival op films, but whatever it does within the box, it does it right. There filming and the storytelling is fast-paced and you actually donât get a single slow moment. A definite must-watch, if you ask us. View the full article

Housefull 3 So, this film also made more than a whopping 100 crore at the box office. But if you remember the film, youâll know that it wasnât worth it. The film received negative reviews from the audience and the absurd storyline and drama only made it worse. Ready Here is another Salman Khan film that tortured the audiences but his fanbase still managed to make the film a box office blockbuster. The film made Rs 187 crore and even though the film made people laugh a little, the storyline definitely made many of us rethink our choice to watch it. View the full article

7 Bollywood Blockbusters Aamir Khan Said No To That We Wish He Had Actually Done
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Aamir Khan, Bollywoodâs very own Mr Perfectionist, is believed to be a true magician when it comes to turning all that he touches into gold. Well, barring Thugs of Hindostan. But this 55-year-old Bollywood veteran has so many good titles to his name, that something like a Thugs of Hindostan doesnât quite succeed to shake our faith in his calibre as an actor. But did you know that there are a handful of superhit blockbuster films that Aamir rejected over the span of his 32-year-old career? We agree you may have thought about it, but wait till you find out about some of the priceless ones our Mr Perfectionist missed out on: 1. Saajan © Eros International Before Sanjay Dutt took on the role of Sagar in this superhit movie, Aamir Khan was approached to star opposite Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit. However, Aamir declined the offer because he didnât like the character. 2. Darr © Yash Raj Films This was perhaps one of the earliest times when the âobsessive loverâ was brought alive on the silver screen in Bollywood. Itâs almost impossible to forget the psychotic Rahul Mehra and his âK..K..K...Kiranâ. But reportedly, Yash Chopra had first offered this iconic role to Aamir, who declined it because he wasnât sure about playing a villain so early on in his career. 3. Hum Aapke Hain Koun © Rajshri Productions A Rajshri Productions classic, this one really added a substantial fan following to Salmanâs Bollywood journey. But Premâs role was first offered to Aamir, who ended up rejecting the role because he didnât find the script meaty enough. 4. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge © Yash Raj Films Weâre so sure this must have hurt Aamir a whole lot. This Aditya Chopra directorial debut was first offered to Aamir who declined it. Later Salman also rejected the film, which was finally taken up by Shah Rukh Khan and boy, did it change SRKâs career graph or what! 5. Mohabbatein © Yash Raj Films This is yet another Aditya Chopra directorial that Aamir declined, and we think he shouldnât have. It was after Aamirâs rejection that SRK was roped in to play the âlove guruâ Raj Aryan Malhotra. 6. Swades © UTV Motion Pictures Having worked with Aamir in mega-blockbuster Lagaan, director Ashutosh Gowariker wanted to cast Aamir in Swades too. But Aamir wasnât convinced about the story and therefore rejected it. And as we know today, Aamirâs loss was SRKâs gain. 7. Bajrangi Bhaijaan © Salman Khan Films Reportedly, the makers of this 2015 blockbuster had first offered the lead role to Aamir who suggested a few changes in the script which were rejected by the director. So, Aamir then suggested that Salman be approached for the role instead. View the full article -
With every new year that comes and goes, there is one thing that never seems to change. No, we donât mean the government, you fool. Itâs our shared love and subconscious dependency on all things Bollywood. It has become a recurrent event, one where we not only look forward to, but also think of making plans around movie releases which seem to hold potential. And that does not necessarily depend on just the plot or trailer, but a lot of it stems from the level of attraction and sense of loyalty we feel towards certain Bollywood stars who come to make all the difference. 2020 is going to be no different because a number of really exciting movies by leading Bollywood A-listers are lined up throughout the year which hold the promise to be totally paisa-wasool. Here are eight such movies weâre rooting for. 1. '83 © BCCL The third installment of Rohit Shettyâs mega successful cop universe, Sooryavanshi will see Akshay Kumar playing the lead opposite Katrina Kaif, and thatâs a promising pairing right there. After Bajirao Singham and Sangram Simmba Bhalerao, we sure have high hopes from DCP Veer Sooryavanshi. 3. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan © Instagram/Ayam Mukerji Another multi-starrer that is set to greet our screens in 2020, the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer fantasy-adventure drama will be the first installment of the trilogy. Brahmastra also stars biggies like Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy among others in pivotal roles. 5. Angrezi Medium © Viacom 18 When Aamir Khan announced that he is all set to star in the Bollywood remake of the Hollywood classic movie Forrest Gump, we didnât know if we were ready to welcome Laal Singh Chaddha. However, given Aamirâs past record (barring Thugs Of Hindostan, of course) people are pinning a lot of hopes on this remake. 7. Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai © For Star Studios Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi Bomb is going to be yet another remake of a successful south Indian film titled Kanchana. Kiara Advani will be playing the female lead, and given the stellar posters of the film, people are really expecting an explosive performance from Akshay. View the full article

As we step into the new decade and leave behind all sorts of baggage, there are some events, some things and some trends which truly defined this decade. Yahoo India did a 'decade in review' survey and pushed out a report which listed out everything that made it to the top in this decade. Here are the 10 biggest Bollywood blockbusters of the decade which played big for the box office and the fans: 1. Dangal The 'dhaakad' girls Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra, along with the brilliance of Aamir Khan made sure that this 2016 blockbuster went down in history for being one of the most successful movies, not just in India but also across the globe. This movie, based on the lives of the Phogat sisters and their journey to the Commonwealth games, is a must-watch and sits on top on this list. 2. Bajrangi Bhaijaan Salman bhai just has to be on this list, given the kind of insane fan following he enjoys. This larger-than-life movie follows the story of Pavan who finds a little Pakistani girl lost in Haryana and decides to help her go back home. 3. PK This Indian satirical comedy follows an alien played by Aamir Khan, who raises many thought-provoking questions which will leave you rambling for answers in life. Rajkumar Hirani is a brilliant storyteller, so this one just had to be on the list. 4. Sultan Yeah, this is a list dominated by Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. But the stats explain why and how their movies cater to the masses, hence the reason they appear so many times on this list. This movie shows Salman as a wrestler who initially gives up but then restarts his journey, emotionally and physically. 5. Tiger Zinda Hai So, yeah, no surprises here again. The movie did not enjoy much of critical acclaim but made some major moolah at the box office. 6. Dhoom 3 Another Aamir Khan movie on the list. This is the third instalment in the Dhoom franchise and has him playing the antagonist. The movie had a budget of over 175 Crore and ended up crossing 589 Crore at the box office with ease. 7. Sanju Rajkumar Hirani's brilliant direction met Ranbir Kapoor's magic and you, obviously, a major hit was witnessed on the big screen. Sanju is a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt and had Ranbir donning various looks over the course of the film. 8. War The surprise entry on this list is this recent action-packed movie, but then again, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff look like a sure-shot recipe for a hit. The movie is a chase-and-run story of two soldiers and was a major hit for not this year only but this decade as well. 9. Chennai Express Finally an SRK movie on the list! This Rohit Shetty action-comedy made over 425 Crore at the box office making it one of the biggest hits of the decade. 10. Dabangg Turns out, Salman Khan is more prominent that one can give him credit. His first edition in this franchise was made on a budget of over a whopping 1.02 billion Rupees and ended up ringing in around 4.65 billion rupees, which explains why it is on the list. Okay, before you go all judgmental on us, a gentle reminder that this list has not been consolidated by us and is based on pure stats. There are so many more brilliant movies which should have been here but, turns out, the 'aam aadmi' is high on the entertainment value of these movies alone which led to some serious money-making.
