Paul Michael Levesque aka Triple H is known for boasting one of the most imposing bodies in the world of pro-wrestling. ‘The Game’ has maintained phenomenal muscle mass over the decades and is surprisingly agile and athletic in movement, despite the large frame. © WWE This only adds credit to his work ethic and the serious effort that he puts in keeping himself healthy, as he is one of the fittest WWE superstars even in his early 50s. Having said that, Triple H is only human after all and considering the fact that it is extremely difficult to maintain the physique, it's no surprise that his body hasn’t always been this way. Triple H’s Bodybuilding Career Before Pro-Wrestling: © India Times Ever since Levesque was a small kid, he was mainly focused on two things, one was pro-wrestling and the other was bodybuilding. He watched his first match at the age of five and was immediately hooked. Paul wanted to look like his idols that he usually watched on screen and so, he decided to take up bodybuilding at the age of 14 while also playing basketball and baseball during his school days. While his dedication to the craft was limitless and it also won him the 1988 Mr Teenage New Hampshire competition at the age of 19, his physique - the most important aspect of a bodybuilder’s career, wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing as it is now. In his fitness book Making The Game Triple H has talked about how he weighed around 60 kgs during his initial days as a bodybuilder and his physique looked like he tried gaining a lot of weight quickly in order to bulk up and then cut down for heavy density muscle mass. Triple H’s ‘Dad Bod’ Phase:never forget when triple h was a fat **** pic.twitter.com/rmcuquNt7r — 2004’ John Cena (@YouuCantSeeMee) April 3, 2017 With an extremely strict diet regime and relentless weight training, even though Triple H successfully maintained an impressive physique through the prime years of his pro-wrestling career, a sudden slump in his body was seen in his latter days when he’d acquired the job of a WWE executive and wrestled part-time. Although there wasn’t a lack of effort on The Game’s part, it was just his body that refused to go through the intense compound exercises and a daily basis. His joints started to ache with his knees and a torn bicep being the biggest causes of worry. Having an aesthetic body wasn’t the primary objective anymore and he knew that it was time for him to switch things up. That’s when he got in touch with Joe DeFranco and took up a most athletic approach towards fitness. Triple H’s Strong Comeback At 47: View this post on InstagramThe injury: a torn pectoral muscle. The date: November 2, 2018 The return: April 7, 2019 5 months, 5 days. Thanks to @dugasmd1, @andrews_sports_medicine, @wilk_kevin, @DeFrancosGym, and @durlancastro for getting me ready for #WrestleMania.A post shared by (@tripleh) With a loose and flabby torso, Triple H started training with DeFranco and made some significant changes in his diet and workout routine. He added exercises like vertical jumps to platforms and HIIT training for better agility, lateral quickness and a higher basal metabolic rate. He also took up boxing essentially for warming up ahead of some serious functional training. He also suggests that boxing is a lot more entertaining and engaging than simply running for 10-20 minutes on a machine, so that’s working in his favour. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@tripleh) Finally, arguably the most important aspect of getting an impressive physique - the diet. With time, Triple H has developed a liking for Keto which requires you to get most of your calories from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. Also Read: Understanding Keto Diet However, his nutritionist Dave Palumbo makes him put a lot of carbs in his body a few weeks ahead of a big event such as the WrestleMania in order to make his body look well-defined and ‘hulky’. View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@tripleh) Triple H is a great example of following one’s passion. He knew from a very early age what he wanted to do for the rest of his life and he did everything to the best of his abilities to get there. He is not only a WWE Hall of Fame but also a successful businessman and one of the most humble and compassionate people you could come across and that’s what makes him such an inspiration. Blood, sweat and tears - itâs an age-old cliche that this is what you need to make it big in the world of competitive fitness, but no one knows the truth of this struggle more than star bodybuilder Yatinder Singh. With a host of wins behind him today, what might not be so obvious are the tough challenges heâs fought against before winning the coveted Mr. India title in 2016. Despite being skinny and underweight in school, he began to lift at a young age, pushing himself to improve through his high-school and college years, finally winning his first competition in 2002. View this post on InstagramYou all have it in you! The power to change, the power to be strong and successful. Do not fail to believe that you can achieve anything you want in life. Find your goal and purpose in life and work hard everyday to achieve that! ð¯ðªð» . . #yatindersingh #transformation #throwback #muscles #gnc #gnclivewell #bodybuilding #champion #aimfitgyms #generationiron #beingstrongA post shared by (@yatindersingh_official) By 2005, he was urged to compete for the Mr. Asia title - it was during this training period that Singh suffered a debilitating injury that resulted in multiple shattered discs in his spine - resulting in him suffering serious nerve damage that partially paralysed his right hand and leg. Constrained to a wheelchair, it seemed like Singhâs days as a competitor were now behind him. Not one to give up so easily, Singh first dedicated himself to becoming financially independent - working as a fitness trainer in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. After making a name for himself, he then moved to Gurgaon - taking his first steps towards becoming a fitness entrepreneur. By 2008, nearly three years on, Singh had finally recovered from his injury and began to train once again - researching workout techniques that could help him keep his spine safe. Finally in 2010, he returned to competitions again after half a decade of physical struggle - winning 6-7 awards in that year and going on to snag medals at national as well as international competitions through the last decade. Despite his larger-than-life, inspiring story, his philosophies and advice for training is single-minded and straightforward. He recently spoke to MensXP Hindi, sharing 5 quintessential tips for newcomers to the world of fitness. The fitness industry is booming and along with it, there are a number of fitness expos held across the country. With these tens of expos, there are at least twenty different bodybuilding shows that happen every year. Every passing year, the number of federations or competitions is increasing as a lot of youngsters want to become bodybuilders. Competing in a bodybuilding show is not wrong, but it is important for you to know a few things before you consider stepping on that stage: 1. It Will Take A Lot More Than Just Having Abs These days, anyone who has abs thinks they are meant for the bodybuilding stage. The fact is, 90 per cent of them are not. Having abs or being lean vs. being shredded are two different things. Bodybuilding means having great overall muscularity, having a balanced physique, being presentable, and being shredded. Just because you have abs does not mean you have to be on stage. If you want to compete, ensure that you have all of the above things to stand a chance. 2. The Prep Sucks Bodybuilding prep is not easy. There will be times you are angry, frustrated, hungry, and exhausted. There will be days where you will not even feel like moving from your bed too. There will be cravings. But these are the times you will have to suck it up and do what needs to be done. It is mentally stressful and can even affect your relationships. So, if you are not in a place to handle all these other pressures, doing a show may end up being one of the worst decisions of your life. © Unsplash 3. There Will Be A Lot Of Fake Natties 'Natural bodybuilding' has either become an elite thing or a joke. I honestly cannot decide. I leave it up to you. The reason I say this is because there are shows that claim to be 'natural' for aspiring natural bodybuilders, however, they are anything but natural. Just having the tag 'natural' after the show's name does not mean jack! Natural federations check their athletes thoroughly and randomly throughout the year. The shows held here in India do not do anything of the sort and are often seen firing the promoters the next year as the 'promoter' tested positive for drugs. 4. You Will Be Forgotten Most of the bodybuilding shows in India are just businesses. Every year, three to five new bodybuilding shows are introduced. They make new promises and take higher entry fees every passing year. You pay it, you get done, and that is that. Hardly are there good prizes in most shows and competitors are rising by the 100s every year. Even if you win a show, there is a great chance that nobody will remember you the next year, unless you are competing at a very high level. The entry level or novice shows are hardly remembered or even cared about. © Pixabay 5. Politics Exists In bodybuilding shows, you will fight politics at every level between federations, between promoters, between judges! I have personally seen competitors winning shows where they outright ignored judging calls and should have been disqualified within a minute of stepping on stage. I have seen the best guy not placing even in the top 5. Now, this would be a personal bias but you could check it out when you go and watch a show. The politics is real and even if you end up being the best athlete, there is a good chance you are going home empty handed. So ask yourself the question, is all of this worth competing in a show? If your answer is still yes, you should totally do a show. In the present day, if you are a regular gym rat you must have heard about Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) and maybe considered using them as well. It is worth mentioning that steroids were never developed for athletic or aesthetic purposes. They were made to treat the ill with muscle wasting conditions in cases of burns, cancer, AIDS or old age. Despite significant side effects, people consistently use AAS in supra-physiological doses, until 2000 the primary users were men involved in bodybuilding (amateur or pro), powerlifting and other athletic endeavours. But there is an alarming increase in young generation using steroids, as a study published by Public Health Wales reports 1 million active male steroid users in U.K i.e. 3% of its population. What is even more surprising, that lads as young as 13-21 are taking steroids. If we extrapolate that 3% to India's Urban male population that will be equal to a whacking 5.4 Million steroid users. © Unsplash Are More Men Interested In Bodybuilding & Powerlifting? With this drastic increase in steroid use, you might think that more of today's generation is interested in competitive Bodybuilding and Powerlifting. But stats reveal something unpredictable: only 27% men were involved in strength and athletic events, merely 22% were involved in competitive bodybuilding, and 56% were using because of body image issues or cosmetic purposes. Having A Greek God Physique Is A Necessity In This Generation! Rick Collins, an American lawyer who specializes in steroid use cases, quotes: “We live in a culture that is absolutely obsessed with appearance. We are judged by our looks every day. So when we look our best, we feel more self-confident. Are steroid users trying to impress themselves or trying to impress others? Both, of course.” © YouTube We dwell in a time where a great physique is a necessity to get roles in movies, be a cover model or run a fitness YouTube channel. In fact, if you do not have 16-inch arms & washboard abs, people won't believe you are serious about fitness. The whole purpose of lifting weights and eating healthy has become: aesthetics. There is a growing pressure on men to look more manly, more muscular, this is probably forcing them to take anabolics. But put aside the physiological side effects, I believe this young steroid using generation is also missing out something vital: The Process. You Are Missing Out On The Process! © Medium Apart from building muscles and strength, you build a character in the gym. The countless number of reps over the years transforms your body from a fragile person who was unable to do bodyweight squats to someone who can now lift more than two times his body weight. These things do not just develop physical but also mental strengths. This reaps perseverance inside you, you develop confidence that with commitment and consistency, you get stronger at things you were once weak. Arnold Schwarzenegger profoundly applied these lessons he learned in the gym to his business, Hollywood and political career. Building a good body with steroids without putting in the necessary hard work and consistency is perhaps developing a loser mentality in this generation. P.S: We know that Arnold used steroids, but he won multiple shows naturally during his teenage and probably exploited his natural potential. Top 5 Reasons To Avoid Using Bodybuilding Steroids In 2019
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
2019 is round about the corner and so are New Year fitness resolutions. While some people would just want to lose weight, also present in large numbers are young gullible dudes trying to put on muscle in a very short span of time. This article is for those young guns that often incline towards steroid usage. 1. To Avoid The Shut Down Of Natural Testosterone Production Let`s get this straight. Whenever you put any anabolic steroid in your body (inject-able or oral), your own natural testosterone production gets shut down. Though the body is very smart, it will still be able to produce testosterone again when you go off steroids but you will never ever be able to get to your natural pre-cycle levels back. © YouTube 2. To Testicular Atrophy ( Shrunken Balls) Also known as 'testicular atrophy', this is again very common during steroid usage. A study found two third of 500 steroid users experienced this type of shrinkage while using steroids. It`s simple. When you feed your body testosterone externally (in form of various steroids), your testicles don`t feel the need to produce the same by their own. Just like they say 'if you don`t use it, you lose it'. Hence they shrink. 3. To Have A Healthy Heart It`s a proven fact that long term steroid usage weakens the heart. Usually people end up doing more and more just like any other habit forming activity. Even several years after discontinuation, increased heart size was found among steroid users as compared to drug free athletes. The left ventricle of heart which is mainly responsible for pumping blood was found to be quite weaker in anabolic steroid users. This is also the reason why many bodybuilders do more cardio to protect heart when using steroids. And if you are an average desk jobber who doesn`t have much time for cardio, you are fucked even more. 4. To Avoid Having Man Breasts Steroids also cause increase in the estrogen levels. Yes, every man has both kinds of hormones- male hormone (testosterone) and female hormone (estrogen). Due to spike in estrogen caused by certain steroids or a combination of steroids, you can develop Gynecomastia which makes your nipples to swell. Now this resemblance is not exactly like that of a woman's chest but good enough to embarrass you as a man. Many steroid users have to go under the knife to get rid of it. © Pixabay 5. To Remain Sane Since steroids throw hormones inside your body out of place, it`s common to see extreme aggression in some individuals also known as 'roid rage'. I`m not saying everyone who takes steroids experiences this but if you are generally very moody, or short tempered, anabolic steroids can amplify that. That's it folks! The Man With The Tiniest Waist The World Of Bodybuilding Has Ever Seen
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
One thing that the golden era of bodybuilding had nailed down was the aesthetics. The bodybuilders, though huge, were visually pleasing. They had that crazy V-taper, a particularly sought after trait, where they would have an amazing ratio of their shoulders to the waist. If you too admire the V-taper, ensure you add this exercise to your routine. However, that slowly started disappearing in the modern day bodybuilding, when it suddenly became all about size and mass monsters, who would have significantly more muscle, but that came at the cost of aesthetics. Their huge protruding bellies even became a subject of criticism of modern day bodybuilding by Arnold Schwarzenegger. But Hurray! The classic physique is back and has started gaining prominence, while also bringing back the Golden Era of bodybuilding. The V-taper is back in fashion and athletes are building their physiques to get the classic look. And there is a new Polish IFBB pro who may just have the tiniest waist in modern-day bodybuilding. It's sad that history often finds itself buried under layers of dust. Time moves on and people forget. A true example of what I am talking about here is this book called 'Muscle Control And Barbell Exercise'. Before you think it's a western giving, let me tell you that it was written right here in India in 1930. Shocked, right? Yup, so was I. Soon I got hold of it and of course, I went through it. Here's why it's a gem of Indian bodybuilding history. Astounding Facts © Muscle control and Barbell Exercise The mere fact that this book was authored by two Indian men – Ghosh and Sen Gupta in the pre-independence era is enough to get the surprise going. India has a rich history of wrestling and other martial arts but who knew that we had thriving bodybuilders almost 100 years back?! Yes, this book is proof of the culture that nobody knew about. Indian bodybuilding history usually starts with Manohar Aich, the very first Mr. Universe from India. His bodybuilding legacy still inspires millions. This book was authored a good 25 years before the rise of Aich on the world bodybuilding arena and even served him as a guide. If this doesn't shock you, I don't what will. Bodybuilding Was A Western Giving. Or Was It? Now a lot of people can debate that East India Company officers bought bodybuilding to India. Well, we don't really know anything about it. What we very well know that this book was authored by two very-well-built and highly-educated-science-graduate- muscle heads. That's evident and can't be challenged. There was a small but highly enthusiastic bodybuilding that thrived here even 17 years before the birth of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the God of bodybuilding. This book alone challenges the notion that bodybuilding was a western giving. The Do-It-No-Matter-What Attitude It was 1930. Half the country struggled for Independence while the British were busy looting whatever was left. Safe to say, India was anything but prospering. So it's anybody's guess that what all equipment these bodybuilders would have had access to. No proper gymnasiums, make shift equipment, no books to read and no internet to find gurus. These guys still pushed ahead and built muscle. There's in fact a detailed chapter in the book about 'isolating thoughts from every distraction and focus on lifting'. Hands down, this is as raw as it can get. The Authors And Inspirations For Them This is Mr. K.C. Sen Gupta (B.A). He authored the Barbell training part of the book. © Muscle control and Barbell Exercise This is Mr. B.C Ghosh (B.Sc). He authored the muscle control part of the book. © Muscle control and Barbell Exercise By the looks of it, both were hardcore muscle-heads and packed on very good mass according to 1930 standards. Both the guys together travelled across Bengal and found that neither was there any awareness about muscle training and nor were any gyms. This is when they took it upon themselves to author this book. They Believed In Systematic And Scientific Approach To Muscle Growth These guys emphasized specially on something that's widely missing even today in the Indian bodybuilding culture: a science-based approach. There are stupid desi gurus everywhere! These guys were straight up scientists with their exercises. Even with food, they recommend eating 3-4 times a day to get bigger and get in more calories. Sleep was highly emphasized on for as they called 'the students of physical culture'. The things I read about posing and muscle control still apply to this day. Yes, everything you will read here is still practiced throughout the world in bits and pieces. With this article, I have put in my share of taking this incredible book to the Indian muscle and fitness heads. Here's the link here for all of you to read it! Share this article and play your part.

Bodybuilding is a sport of frightening extremes. An extreme obsession with gaining more size, an extreme obsession with building the most muscle, an extreme obsession with being the most shredded, etc. Year after year, competitors are at each other's throat to surpass the existing extremes and establish new extremes. It's frightening and entertaining at the same time. Here are the most shredded bodybuilders the world has ever seen: 1. Frank Zane © YouTube It would not be wrong to say that it was Zane who brought up the importance of conditioning to the stage. Frank Zane had extremely good conditioning as he stepped on stage being the most shredded. Though that came at the cost of his overall size, he would still go on to beat bigger and muscular bodybuilders on stage due to his conditioning. He is also one of the only three bodybuilders to have defeated Arnold Schwarzenegger on the bodybuilding stage. 2. Rich Gaspari © YouTube He was another guy who was one of the firsts on the bodybuilding stage. Frank established the importance and Rich took it to another level. He was the first bodybuilder to walk the stage with striated glutes. Striated or walnut glutes were not a thing until Rich showed the world what he could do. After that, striated glutes have become standard criteria for judging. 3. Alessandro Galli © YouTube A relatively lesser known bodybuilder, he could easily take the title of the freak when it comes to conditioning in bodybuilding. His back flexing photo is one of the freakiest and the most shredded physique you would ever witness in bodybuilding. 4. Helmut Strebl © YouTube An Austrian bodybuilder, he could easily be the definition of a having zero body fat. Not a big guy here, but the shredded physique he carries is just alien. 5. Andreas Munzer © YouTube The CRAZIEST conditioning one would have ever bought on the stage of IFBB. His dedication towards being so shredded was so extreme that it was the reason for his death. He died due to diuretics abuse which is often the go-to drug of bodybuilders to bring up the conditioning. The King Of Bodybuilding Might Never Be Able To Walk Again
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Some people decide to be a bodybuilder and some people are destined to be one. Ronnie Coleman was a destined bodybuilder. The greatest the stage has ever seen. Arguably the greatest bodybuilder of all times, Ronnie won the Mr. Olympia a record 8 times, earning the title of the 'King' and the 'GOAT' of bodybuilding. Starting lifting at the age of 13 as a hobby with his main interest being rugby, Ronnie saw almost instant growth while training with weights. Soon, there was history being written. Ronnie rose to global fame with the sheer size and mass he brought to the stage, setting a new benchmark for Mass Monster era. Ronnie weighed 130-135 Kg on stage and 145-150 Kg during the off-season. He trained with moderate volume and high intensity. Ronnie believed in lifting heavy free weights. And by heavy, we mean really heavy! Weights That Will Make Any Grown Man Cry © YouTube In his prime, Ronnie moved an insane amount of iron which included 363 Kg Squats for 2 Reps, 1045 Kg Leg Press for 4 Reps, 365 Kg Deadlift for 2 Reps and 100 Kg dumbbell presses. He is surely the strongest Mr. Olympia ever. Ronnie contributes these heavy loads to his huge yet dense physique. How All The Heavy Lifting Came Back To Hurt King Ron © YouTube The weights, which built his body, also began to deteriorate it. Soon after retirement, Ronnie's spine and joints gave up almost entirely. This was because of through and through heavy lifting. Presently, he has gone through as many as 10 major surgeries, including spinal fusion, disc decompressions, and multiple hip replacements. Even before his first surgery in 2016, Ronnie did pay his dues to the gym by pushing 'Lite Weights' one more time. He was once asked that if he could go back in time, would he change anything about his training? He replied- “I would do 4 reps of 363 Kg Squat instead of 2.” The Final Heartbreak View this post on Instagram Two days after surgery and it's a miracle that I can walk. Normally I'm on my way to rehab so they can help me to learn to walk again. This is the best I've felt after my last 3 surgeries. God is truly blessing me this time around because he know that I definitely need the inspiration because lately I've been semi-depressed after all my surgeries. This is so amazing and I know some of you guys praying for me has a lot to do with this. I'm really in a state of shock because after the same results after the same surgery you kinda get use to being not able to walk and come to expect it. Thanks to each and everyone who prayed because it honestly and truly worked this time. God knows me way better than I know me and I'm overwhelmed with excitement and enjoyment. I am so much looking forward to seeing the day where no crutches or walkers is required. Hopefully that day comes sooner rather than later. #yeahbuddy #lightweightbaby #itstillaintnothingbutapeanut A post shared by Ronnie Coleman (@ronniecoleman8) on Sep 22, 2018 at 7:03pm PDT In a recent interview, King Ron gave a heartbreaking statement- that he might never be able to walk again. Ronnie blamed his surgeons for creating complications in his spinal operations. He added that he spent over 2 million dollars in just the last three surgeries and if the doctors wished, he would be walking long back. Ronnie Coleman's pure and raw passion for training has made him an inspirational figure, not just for bodybuilders but powerlifters, weightlifters and anyone who desires to get better at lifting. It is not uncommon to see stories of bodybuilders dying young these days in the pursuit of getting huge. Just a few months ago, Dennis McCarver, a supposed legend in the making was found dead due to choking on food. Though that was the given reason, many consider it as a mere cover-up story as he had a huge battling past with a lot of medical issues due to the abuse of anabolic steroids. © YouTube The usage of drugs to look a certain way and to compete in bodybuilding has become very normal. And these drugs come with side effects, the most common of them being. 1. High cholesterol 2. Elevated blood pressure 3. Liver and Kidney damage 4. Enlarged organs 5. Acne 6. Shut down of natural hormonal production These side effects should be reasons enough for people to not risk their lives to look a certain way. Sadly, that is not the case. Bodybuilders, especially young enthusiasts who would do anything to become more muscular are looking at novel ways to add new ingredients to the cocktail of chemicals brewing under their skin. The Rise Of AMP5 As A Pre-Workout Steroid Recently, a case of a 21-year old youth got covered in a national newspaper where it was shown that AMP5 was introduced to him by his gym trainer. The drug was introduced with the promise that if he takes it regularly, it will help him win bodybuilding championships. Naive as most youngsters are, he started taking it. AMP5 is a drug that was actually meant for horses to increase their work capacity. The drug was given to them so that they could take on more workload and put in more labor. AMP5 was first used on racehorses to improve performance and make them run faster during derbies. As people gained knowledge that it increased the performance by increasing blood circulation, bodybuilders started experimenting with it pre-shows where they would be very low on energy. Once they figured out that it gave them amazing boosts of energy, they started taking it as a pre-workout as well. Hence, AMP5 made its way into the local body building scene. © YouTube Like the other drugs, AMP5 also has very disturbing side-effects. The common ones being an addiction, development of dependency, mood alteration, low blood pressure, altering heart beating rhythm, depression, etc. The moral of the story being that drugs are harmful and you should not be using them just on the suggestions of your gym trainer. They are not doctors and nor the people to be advising or recommending medical drugs to people going to the gym. And if you do choose to do drugs (I would not recommend it anyway), do take this discussion up with your family doctor or medical practitioner and not take any Tom, Dick, or Harry's advice on how to use it.

This Is Why The Testicles Shrink Upon The Usage Of Bodybuilding Steroids
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
The use of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) has become common for the purpose of bodybuilding. Almost every kid in the gym, who would not even have 2-3 years of weight training experience, would have an experience with these drugs. Is it the fault of the gym trainers who sell this stuff to the gullible kids for the sake of a quick buck? Is it the misinformation? Or is it the newbies in the pursuit of instant gratification at fault here? Well, I leave it for you to decide that. Nevertheless, it is a personal choice at the end of the day. One should thoroughly weigh the pros and cons before they decide if they want to do it the enhanced way. Let's Talk About What Really Happens When People Say 'Testicles Shrink' Upon Using Steroids © Irongeneration The base drug for 95% of steroid cycles is testosterone. We all know what this hormone does, how important it is for the male body and that our body naturally produces it in a very limited quantity. It's extremely anabolic and thus, forms the base of steroid cycles. Since there is a physiological range of it in your body, you can't get 'massive' only with it. When you take it externally, you take supraphysiological dosages aka unnatural high doses. Testosterone, as a hormone, increases the rate at which your body builds muscle, reduces muscle breakdown and speeds up recovery. Hence, you get big! How Do The Testis Shrink? When you take exogenous testosterone, the body stops producing the hormone internally, that is in the testis. Why does it do that? 1. You are already getting the hormone externally. Way more than enough at that! 2. Your body understands that the levels present in the body are way beyond what it can produce. Because of this the testicles go pretty much out of use and shut down. This is what starts happening almost instantly once you start injecting. With time, as your testes sense that they have no particular usage or function in your body, they start shrinking. The Simple Principle Of 'Use It Or Lose It © Pixabay If this keeps on continuing for long, your body thinks that it does not need testes at all. After shrinking to a certain point, your testes will die and simply disappear. This is known as hypogonadism or testicular atrophy. That is the death of your balls. If you use steroids and keep doing it for long without proper care or support, your balls going away forever is inevitable. Add to that, there is a good chance that your trainer is giving you shit that is low quality and does not even come under the category of hormones synthesized for humans. So yeah, the risk of taking steroids is real and it can lead to consequences you will regret long. Do not fall for the hype or stuff that someone says. Think for yourself, think about what you really want, and then make an informed decision. Not a moment of influence leading to a lifetime of regret. Here Are 3 Budget-Friendly Bodybuilding Supplements For College Guys
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
If you ever go to a supplement store with the goal of buying every 'muscle building' supplement in there, you would end up spending all of the monthly salary or pocket money you have. However, even after spending so much money, you would not have bought even 20% of those 'muscle building' supplements. The supplement industry markets a lot of the supplements as potent muscle builders and wants to sell you useless stuff with the false premise of saying it will help you build muscle. As a matter of fact, less than 5% of those supplements contribute towards your muscle building goals. Here's a list of muscle building supplements that actually work and how you can fit them into a budget of Rs. 100 per day or even less: 1. Whey Protein © Thinkstock Images Protein is the most important macronutrient. In a muscle building phase, you are trying to build new muscle protein. To synthesize and build new muscle protein, you need to consume an adequate amount of protein on a daily basis. The general recommendation being 1 gram per pound of body weight. Whey Protein is one of the most convenient ways to get in this target protein intake for the day. The convenience aspect of this supplement makes it very desirable and one of the most sold supplements in the fitness industry. A good brand whey protein would cost you around 70 to 75 rupees per serving. 2. Caffeine © Thinkstock Images You would see every self-proclaimed gym freak praising caffeine as the most wonderful discovery on the planet Earth. It truly is. Caffeine is a stimulant that activates the central nervous system. With regards to your workout performance, it enhances your power output, workout volume, and suppresses fatigue. A study in 2012 had 16 Rugby players split into two groups. One group was given 4 mg/kg caffeine and the other was given a placebo. They were further split into two sub-groups: A. Sleep Deprived B. Well slept Caffeine supplementation helped the sleep-deprived group of players perform just as well as the well-slept group. The well slept group performed slightly better when they supplemented with caffeine. [1] If your goal is maximum performance, caffeine supplementation in the range of 3 - 6 mg/kg would work best pre-workout. If you want the real deal, I would suggest supplementing with a caffeine pill. A 200 mg pill would not cost you more than 10 bucks. 3. Creatine Monohydrate © Thinkstock Images Creatine is an amino acid that is typically found in food such as fish and meat. It is one of the most researched supplements with around hundreds of studies supporting its benefits in increasing strength and power. It is also a very safe supplement. A lot of people think that consuming creatine will make them appear puffy but creatine draws water into your muscle and not anywhere else. All creatine would do, is to make you look more jacked. Creatine is sold in a lot of variety and compounds as well, but there is again no data that shows any other form of creatine as effective or better than creatine monohydrate. Studies also show that there were no health risks associated with around 21 months of daily creatine supplementation proving its safety. So you do not really need to go off or stop supplementation. If you want to supplement with creatine, go for monohydrate and consume 5 grams of it per day. The timing does not matter that much. A 5-gram creatine monohydrate would cost you no more than 10 bucks. That concludes the budget-friendly muscle building stack and in a summary, the supplements you would want and their prices: 1. Whey Protein - Rs. 70 per serving 2. Caffeine - Rs. 10 per serving 3. Creatine Monohydrate - Rs. 10 per serving Total - Rs. 90 per day. The monthly investment would be half the cost of a new and improved muscle building pill on the market that does not do anything. References: 1. Cook et al. A young bodybuilding enthusiast recently landed in the hospital after using a drug called AMP for his bodybuilding purposes. This case has yet again brought to light the dark side of enhanced bodybuilding. Steroids, which were once and rightfully used in the professional category, has seeped into the routine of rookie fitness enthusiasts. Kids no younger than 20-22 with no lifting-age at all, are going to the extent of 'whatever it takes' to look good. One such case is that of this young bodybuilding rookie from Delhi who landed himself in serious trouble after using an animal compound. A Lesson For EVERY Gullible Young Guy Looking For Shortcuts In Bodybuilding The story broke out when a family from south-west Delhi approached the Psychiatry department in one of Delhi's biggest hospitals. Parents were worried about their 21-year-old son who was slipping into depression. © Pixabay His sleep cycle was extremely disturbed; he was depressed and had terrible mood swings. After countless efforts, a very comprehensive diagnosis was run on the guy. What was revealed afterwards, rattled his parents to the bone. The young lad was addicted to a drug called 'AMP5'. Revelations followed and he disclosed that his gym trainer regularly injected him with the drug as a 'pre-workout' ritual. His gym trainer had told him that this compound will help him work out for hours without getting tired and help him build more muscle. Starting from 1ml/day, the dosage shot up to 5ml/day. Since he could see the 'gains' after using injections, he kept on increasing the dosage. He even went on to win a few local-run-of-the-mill-bodybuilding competitions while he was using this drug. What Happened When He Stopped The nightmare started when dropped off the drug. From someone who could workout in the gym for more than 3 hours, he could now barely keep himself awake for daily chores. In short- he was now addicted to AMP5. © Pubmed His system had become so habitual to its usage that it couldn't handle the sudden withdrawal. He tried his best but he could not give up taking AMP injections. Soon his family realized his drug user behaviour and reached out for medical help. Presently, he is being treated with anti-depressant medicines and stimulants. AMP 5 Is Not For Humans AMP is short for adenosine Monophosphate and is NOT meant for bodybuilding. It's a drug that's used on animals. It works as a vasodilator that helps in infusing more blood into skeletal muscles to provide increased strength for exercise. It reduces fatigue to almost zero and also helps with fat oxidation by working as a hunger suppressant. However, it is illegally administered to horses before a race to enhance their performance. In some cases, it used on horses to cure various ailments as well. AMP 5 was never designed for human use. But then, bodybuilding these days is all about experimenting with various drugs to gain an edge and not just hard work and discipline. Well, guess what, one day you might have to pay for these experiments like this 21-year-old kid. So beware! 4 Lessons From Bodybuilding That Effortlessly Apply To Real Life Struggles
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
The sport of bodybuilding is an extreme one. Competitors often go to extreme lengths to get on the stage which can leave a physical, mental or a social scar on them on the road to get there. This extremity also makes it one of the most loved and supported sport out there. Though bodybuilding is not a sport meant for everyone, it does not take away anything from the fact that bodybuilders at the professional level are few of the most dedicated lot out there. Here are some valuable lessons that everyone can learn from the sport of bodybuilding and incorporate into their lives: Lesson1- Failure Is Not Exactly A Failure There are times in our lives where we feel like we have lost it all. That the thing ends there and there is no point chasing it as it is just fulfilling self-prophecy. But, is it? It is very common among bodybuilders and people who lift weights in general that they miss a lift and fail at a particular exercise or a particular rep. But do they ever just call it quits and never do that exercise again? Not really. They get back to the exercise in the next session with double the intensity and double the dedication. Translate this into your real life and you will not feel let down by failure. © Pixabay Lesson 2- Patience Always Pays Off It is rightly said that 'Good things come to those who wait.' I feel the correct extension of it would be 'Good things come to those who wait and work towards it.' When was the last time you heard of a guy who signed for a gym membership one day and won a pro bodybuilding show the very next day? That does not happen. Same goes for anything worth achieving in life. It does not come to you and sit on your lap. You have to be patient and work towards it. Nothing teaches you that like bodybuilding does. Lesson 3- You Will Start Appreciating The Small Gains Humans are a selfish species and this selfishness has made us a bunch of very unhappy people. We are never satisfied with what we have, and we constantly want more and more. And not a little more, A LOT MORE! In bodybuilding, after the newbie phase is over, your muscle building rates drop drastically. Even the top pros step on stage every year at the same bodyweight or with a gain of a couple pounds of muscle at most. A year worth of work for 1-2 lbs. of muscle. Funny, right? But they are the happiest people on the planet when they gain these 1-2 lbs. Because they know how tough it is to get that. Bodybuilding teaches you to appreciate the small gains and value it as they are rather than making it a comparison game. © Pixabay Lesson 4- Transformation Never Stops There has been no recorded history of a bodybuilder saying that they are happy with the progress they have made and would stop working altogether on improving their physique. The transformation never stops. It is ever moving forward. The same goes for your goals, ambitions, and milestones in life. It should never stop at a point. Reached a point? Good. There is always a step forward and you should be ever motivated to take that step forward and work hard towards it. Bodybuilding, thus, truly teaches you the reality of life. The 4 Most Logical & Notable Benefits Of Natural Bodybuilding
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Bodybuilding, the name in itself paints a picture of huge men with muscles popping out of every possible inch of their body. What Arnold Schwarzenegger brought to the limelight, is now a global sport to be reckoned with. With Growing Recognition Comes Closer Inspection - Is Bodybuilding Safe? This is often asked as people majorly see two sides of the sport. The first, being bodybuilders growing way too massive and then comes the question of steroid abuse and related deaths. Looking at the two extremes of bodybuilding, anyone in their sane mind would end up saying that bodybuilding is stupidly unhealthy and not worth following or doing. I agree with this opinion, but only to a certain extent. Mainly, as it tends to miss the point and take into consideration the actual benefits of the sport. © Pixabay The textbook definition of bodybuilding says, "a sport involving strenuous physical exercise in order to strengthen and enlarge the muscles of the body." Basically, if you train to enlarge and strengthen your muscles, you are bodybuilding. When Done Naturally, These Are Some Outstanding Benefits: 1. Improved Strength As you are engaging in a strenuous physical activity, it is a stimulus to your muscles. Your muscles undergo trauma and show an adaptive response to the stimulus. When properly nourished, they grow to be able to handle the increased strength demands of your body. This process makes you stronger. And who would not want to be stronger? 2. Look Better Lifting weights coupled with proper nutrition can help you get in shape and have a lean physique that demands respect and admiration. I always tell my clients that there are two types of people, one who will just run and look like an aged man when they lose some weight and another who has a spectacular physique after losing some fat. If you want to be the latter, bodybuilding is for you. 3. Improved Ageing The one rule of having muscle tissue- use it or lose it. And as you age, if you are not using it, your body starts degenerating this muscle tissue and favours more of fat accumulation for pure survival mechanism. If you want to look good in your 40s and 50s and be strong then, you will have to work in your 20s and 30s and keep that work ethic in your 40s, 50s and even 60s. Along with maintaining your muscle mass, lifting weights has also shown to improve bone mineral density and shown favourable benefits of non-degenerative effects of your bone that usually come with age. © Pixabay 4. Higher Quality Of Life Combine the above three and that automatically adds up to a better quality of life. You look better, you have better strength, your bone and joint health are good, you do not need a walking stick when you age. Who would say no to such benefits? And these are the long-term ones. Even in the short term, you will be strong and you will look and feel better. So, back to our question, is bodybuilding healthy? If you are abusing drugs just to achieve a certain look and step on the stage, it is not really healthy. But if you are looking at it as a sport and plan on taking steps naturally, then it is one of the best things out there. Bodybuilding as a sport became an altogether different monster in the 90s. The 70s and the 80s were dominated by smaller waists and aesthetic physiques whereas the 90s indicated the dawn of the mass era. The 90s began the era of being as big as possible along with being shredded. It was dominated by famous personalities like Dorian Yates, Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, Kevin Levrone, Ronnie Coleman, and the likes. Nasser El Sonbaty AKA 'The Professor' © Bodybuilding.pic.archives He was an IFBB pro who participated in 53 pro competitions always being placed very high in the rankings. His most notable wins would be the Night of the Champions and the Arnold Classic in 1999 where he beat a bunch of spectacular athletes to the throne. Here are a few interesting facts about 'the professor': 1. He Was A Real Smart Fellow Nasser El Sonbaty was half Serbian, half Egyptian and hailed from Germany. He was a highly learned man and graduated college with a handful of degrees in history, political science, and sociology. He even spoke 7 languages fluently. 2. His Guest Posing Earned Him The Nickname The professor was a name not just given to him for the sheer amount of intelligence he had but also due to one typical aspect of his guest posing. He would wear round glasses during his guest posing shows. The round glasses and the intelligence put together earned him the nickname of 'the professor'. © Youtube 3. He Was Very Open About His Drug Usage A lot of pro bodybuilders even today fool their fans into believing that the sheer size and leanness they carry can be achieved naturally to sell a bunch of shit supplements to their followers. Kinda slitting their throats and laughing their way to the banks. Not 'the professor' though. He was very open about his usage of anabolic steroids for bodybuilding along with substances like human growth hormone and diuretics. 4. He Was Called The 'Uncrowned' Mr. O Nasser El Sonbaty used to almost always place in the top 5, the 1997 Olympia was his best performance and almost everyone who has seen clippings of that show believes that he was the more deserving athlete to win the coveted Sandow. The professor really brought it to the stage that day and hands down beat the existing champ and the winner of that show, Dorian Yates. Dorian Yates had suffered a tricep injury just 3 weeks before the show and due to that, his arms and overall conditioning were not on point. The professor beat him in all the poses but still did not win the title. He came second in that show but was the champion for people who watched that show. © Bodybuilding-pics 5. He Died Due To Suspected Steroid Abuse The professor lost his life in the March of 2013 due to kidney failure and heart complications at the young age of 47. He needed a heart transplant and could not get the same on time and died due to multiple complications. His autopsy showed that his heart weighed two times the weight of a normal adult male heart. Note- All this can be linked back to steroid usage and you cannot deny the fact that the anabolic steroid built muscle comes with a hefty price to pay. This is not to take anything from his complications and I am pretty sure he would have had a significant impact in shaping the future sport had he been alive today. You may have heard this saying, "There are players who play the game and then there are those who change the game." The latter is often said about those who come and destroy the competition by changing how spectators look at the sport itself. That is exactly what a bodybuilder from England did when he introduced and inspired a new era of bodybuilding in the 90s. © DY The bodybuilder is none other than Dorian Yates, also known as the Shadow. He made his Olympia debut in 1991 and placed second to the long-standing legend Lee Haney that year before going on to become a legend himself. The next year, he shocked the world by growing a monstrous size with vascularity, leanness and being shredded to the bone. He came out on top with a first place win at the Olympia the following year in 1992. In 1993, he destroyed the sport by being the first bodybuilder to step on stage being over 250 lbs with that amount of leanness and conditioning. As you can see in the video, he literally single-handedly turned the sport of bodybuilding upside down on its head. This English monster then dominated the sport until 1997 winning 6 Mr. Olympia titles and 7 Grand Prix titles to himself. He never placed second in a show after his runner-up finish at the 1991 Mr. Olympia. He was nicknamed the Shadow for two reasons. One was that after every win, he would literally disappear to work in the trenches and come out the next year and beat all his competitors again. Another reason being that he would always be the biggest man in the room! © DY, Facebook You could bring the biggest guy in the room first and then make Dorian Yates stand in front of the guy and not see an inch of the guy then. He would always overshadow the second biggest guy in the room. © Youtube Yates, in his prime, was known for his hard work and more uniquely for his training style. He never used to follow the training protocols that the other seasoned bodybuilders used to follow. He was an advocate of the HIT or the high-intensity training protocol where he would often just do one set with maximal intensity taken very close to failure. He believed that one properly executed heavy set was more than enough to stimulate muscle growth and believed that the way other bodybuilders trained, doing multiple sets of the same exercise was a waste of time as they were not giving it all by doing multiple sets. © Unsplash His training is still popularly known as blood and guts trainer. It is also believed that Dorian Yates was the first bodybuilder to make the usage of growth hormone mainstream in the world of bodybuilding and had been constantly criticized by Arnold Schwarzenegger for starting an era of mass monsters where they traded aesthetics for size. Though that is a different argument altogether, there is no denying that the 6 time Mr. O is an inspiration and a living legend to many bodybuilders, past and present and that he inspired a new era of bodybuilding. Disclaimer: At MensXP Health we are neither against, nor for the usage of steroids. It's completely a personal choice. Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) or Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are the bread and butter of many fitness professionals these days. Either they take them, or they give it to their clients, or a combination of the two happens. Well, the advantages are pretty obvious and when you learn of them, it is that magic solution you would love to be on. As you will put twice the muscle mass just sitting at home vs. someone who would slog their ass in the gym day in and day out as shown in the study by Bhasin et. al. and mentioned in this article. But That Is The Good Part. What About The Bad, And Even The Ugly? In this piece, I would be covering the harsh side-effects of taking these drugs that you should know of before deciding to jump on them. © YouTube 1. Acne Taking PEDs, especially testosterone, has almost everyone using it develop acne on their shoulders, chest, and back. This is because the hormones interfere with the pores of the skin. In certain cases, severe acne is also observed leaving permanent scars or marks in those affected areas. 2. Balding As some steroids increase testosterone, it leaves men more prone to a receding hairline or balding. Not everyone who takes steroids will experience balding but those who are already losing their hair or have a thin hairline will almost all the time go fully bald on the usage of anabolic steroids. 3. Testicles Shrink Due to the increase in testosterone by injecting, the balance of testosterone to estrogen (yes, men too have it) goes for a toss and this can lead to your testicles getting shrunk. This is one of the common side effects observed in a majority of constant users. 4. Testicular Atrophy Continuous usage of anabolic steroids has shown to completely shut down natural testosterone production which ultimately leads to hypogonadism aka testicular atrophy aka bye bye balls. 5. Development Of Breast Tissue Due to the increase in the estrogen levels due to the usage of some anabolic steroids, the mammary gland or the breast tissue develops and grows in size. When this happens, a lot of men develop the breast tissue and it can lead to the formation of man boobs and gyno. 6. Increased Risk Of Heart Disease A few side effects of steroid usage to the heart are enlargement of the heart, hardening of the arteries, higher blood pressure, and huge elevations in the artery-clogging cholesterol LDL. A certain degree of these side effects is commonly seen across the board. 7. Damaged Liver Certain steroids can cause damage to your liver on the same lines as that of heavy alcohol consumption. Very serious conditions are rare but they tend to happen in a certain percentage of heavy drug users. 8. Roid Rage Research has consistently shown that use of anabolic steroids can affect your personality and mood. A study showed that athletes who used anabolic steroids had a 20% higher risk of mood swings and depression. It can even result in an increase in aggression or rage. So these are just some of the side effects one may end up facing once they jump on gear or anabolic steroids. And long-term abuse has also resulted in permanent disabilities or in severe cases, death. Is The Risk Worth Taking? Not In My Opinion © Pixabay I hope this piece gives you adequate information about the bad and the ugly side of drug usage and help you make a more informed decision. The classic era of bodybuilding is coming back. Broad shoulders, narrow waists, razor-sharp abs, and impressive shoulder-to-waist ratios are making a noise again. The golden era of bodybuilding, popularized or made mainstream by Arnold Schwarzenegger back in the day has arrived again. It is pretty much similar to any other industry in the world. There are trends which come and go and the bodybuilding fans are jumping with happiness that the golden era is coming back to life. Another thing about modern-day bodybuilding is that it has become all the more competitive. The introduction of the physique category has pulled in more general audiences' interest that the mass monsters era took away. Enter Chris Bumstead © YouTube Last year, a guy came out of nowhere and made waves in the industry. That guy was Chris Bumstead, a 23-year old Canadian, who made his first professional Olympia appearance at the very young age of 22 years and took 2nd place in the Classic Physique category. Saying That He Shocked The Bodybuilding World Would Be An Understatement © YouTube He won the classic physique division of the Pittsburgh Pro last year and a few months later made his Olympia debut. Neither did he look like a debutant and nor did he look like an inexperienced contender even at such a young age. He came on the stage, dominated and almost won the division. He was placed second by a meager margin of 3 points. His appearance made it clear that he's the future of classic bodybuilding in the coming future. Bumstead, better known as CBum on Instagram, hardly looked like a newbie when he dominated the stage with his polished posing skills including a vacuum pose that even Frank Zane would have been proud of. You can check it out here: His Vacuum Pose © YouTube The vacuum pose brought back memories of the golden era and shows a lot of promise for the new classic division which is just two years old now. And Bumstead, though young, is a perfect example of a bodybuilder who says that success comes down to hard work and being consistent at the end of the year. At the 2018, Bumstead once again cut through the crowd and grabbed second spot in his division. Though it was a letdown for a lot of his fans, this win again makes it very clear that Bumstead will be a force to be reckoned with. History has it that even the greatest reign comes to an end. One such event occurred in the world of bodybuilding when Shawn Rhoden dethroned Phil Heath, the undisputed champion from the past 7 years and became the 2018 Mr Olympia. Phil must have never imagined that his reign will be terminated by an athlete who was not even in top 3 last year. Shawn acted like 'The Shadow' Dorian Yates. He stayed underground all year and surprised the whole world with his physique. Shawn always impressed the world with his aesthetics but lacked muscle mass as per modern bodybuilding. Before this, the closest he ever came to Mr Olympia crown was in 2016 when he was placed second to Phil Heath. "I have been chasing Phil for such a long time. He has been the champion, and it means a lot to win this." - Shawn Rhoden (After Winning Mr Olympia 2018) © YouTube Shawn's front double bicep pose stole the show. He performed it gracefully and each of his muscles complimented each other. Nothing was lagging and nothing was over dominating. His physique was well balanced, symmetrical and had top notch conditioning. Phil had the edge with huge shoulders, arms and thick and muscular back. But Shawn had better abs, legs and the overall look. This victory is not just special for Shawn but whole bodybuilding community as he is the first athlete to lift the Sandow trophy with a narrow waist. He brought back the prominent V-taper and golden era aesthetics, cutting right through the mass monsters era. This might mean judges are again giving more value to symmetry and balance than just sheer muscle mass. © YouTube What makes his victory even more appreciable is that just seven months ago the 43-year-old bodybuilder was hospitalized due to which he had to miss the Arnold Classic 2018 (The second most prestigious event in Bodybuilding). This was Shawn's 8th Mr Olympia appearance and his win truly signifies that determination and perseverance can do wonders. Plus, we hope that the standard Shawn has reigns for the longest time.
