  1. It has been long rumoured that Apple will be bringing one of its most beloved features on iPhones, but it will be different from what we are used to. There have been previous rumours suggesting that Apple will include an on-screen fingerprint scanner on the next iPhone and the company's latest patent confirms the plans. It may not come as soon as this year's iPhone, however, it is expected to come sooner or later. (c) Pexels According to the latest patent spotted by Patently Apple, the company wants to embed a pinhole camera being the display of the smartphone. This camera will be able to create a 3D map of your fingerprint regardless of where you place your finger. The new feature will be an additional form of biometric unlocking and the company will not be replacing FaceID anytime soon. The two methods will make the iPhone even more secure as current iPhones only supports FaceID. (c) Pexels The more exciting bit about this patent is that Apple has shown pictures of a prototype, which means that the company is already done with the development process. The new unlocking method is expected to go into mass production by 2020 and will be a feature on 2020 iPhones. The new unlocking method is not the first time we're something like this as Xiaomi has also developed a version which works similar to Apple's patent. Source: Patently Apple
  2. Last month, a few details about Sony's next PlayStation were revealed in a Wired article where Sony dropped some specs as well. So far, the specifications look quite impressive and there's a lot of excitement about the upcoming consoles from gamers and developers alike. We got to know that the next console will have far faster load times and even have support for ray-tracing. How effective that would be on next-gen games, remains to be seen though. While speaking to Gaming Bolt, founders of Okomitive Don Schmocker and Goran Saric revealed that they are quite impressed with PS5's specifications. They were impressed in particular with the Zen Z processor. “It will definitely bring console performances closer to PC / desktop settings, which means less optimizations for ports," said Schmocker and Saric. This means that future games would require fewer optimisations for its PC versions and there will be more ports of the games made. It also means that some PC exclusive games can also release on future consoles if the performance is at par or close enough. For gamers, they will see more cross-releases than ever before which is always healthy for the gaming industry. Sony PS5 is not expected to launch any sooner than 2020, however, the Japanese company has provided an early look at what the next console is capable of. During a meeting in Japan today, Sony showed off load times of a scene on both the PS4 Pro and next-gen hardware. The results look quite impressive as you can see for yourself from the video below: Sony's official video comparing performance of PS4 Pro vs next-gen PlayStation pic.twitter.com/2eUROxKFLq — Takashi Mochizuki (@mochi_wsj) May 21, 2019 Sony's PS5 is expected to have a very powerful GPU and CPU that will be based on AMD's eight-core Ryzen chips. The new cores will be built on AMD's 7nm Zen 2 architecture and a custom Navi board. The custom board will have support extremely high-end graphics and features like ray tracing. Other improvements include 3D audio that will be most noticeable when playing on headsets. The other major hardware upgrade would be the inclusion of SSDs. The consoles will be shipped with in-built SSDs that will reduce load times considerably. The SSD on the PS5 is said to be different from what's available in the market right now and is said to be even faster. Source: Gaming Bolt
  3. The next launch of a brand new iPhone is a few months away but a new patent has popped up that may give us a hint about a new feature. Ever since iPhone X was announced, Apple phased out the Touch ID biometric system in favour for an edge-to-edge design. We still got to see the feature on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. However, it was later replaced by FaceID on the iPhone XR. © Apple The iPhone XS and XS Max uses the same FaceID unlock system as its predecessor but a notable feature was missing. It seems like Apple is now looking to bring back TouchID according to the patent. The Cupertino giant is developing a fingerprint sensor that lets users unlock the smartphone by touching anywhere on the screen. The patent was granted to Apple earlier this week and was spotted by Patently Apple. © Patently Apple It would be a cool new feature if seen on the upcoming iPhone 11 and we have something similar to Apple's version developed by Vivo for a concept phone. The patent calls Apple's version as an "acoustic imaging system”. Another weird feature spotted in the same patent was the new sensor's ability to map a user's ear. The system would simply map your ear and unlock the smartphone for seamless call answering and other features. As usual, patents don't really translate to a final product every time and we would not keep our hopes high until its fully revealed or made official by Apple. We sincerely hope this feature does come to the iPhone 11 as many users still prefer to unlock smartphones with a fingerprint or at least want the option. Source: Patently Apple
  4. The most important aspect about any sport is its fans. They're the reason why the players, the staff and the coaches play the sport. They give the players the confidence to give their best on the field and whichever their favourite team is, they really love it. But sometimes, the actions of some mad fans not only bring disgrace to a person but also the team they support. Similar humiliation was witnessed by Juventus when over 140 of their fans were arrested for possessing dangerous objects right before the UEFA Champions League game between Ajax and Juventus in Amsterdam on Wednesday. The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Interior, Matteo Salvini, claimed that 120 of those held were Juve supporters. "Around 120 were detained," he said in a Facebook Live video. "People were found carrying objects that were not exactly appropriate for a trip to the stadium,” he added. © Reuters "Football is a beautiful sport but only with clean hands and a clean face, without creating trouble, so be good," he further said. As per reports, two separate groups were arrested by the authorities. First, a group of 46 were apprehended at a metro station and later another 61 were detained at the Johan Cruyff Arena. On the other hand, dozens of Ajax supporters were also reported to have clashed against riot police in separate incidents outside the stadium and were dispersed using tear gas and water cannons. The arrested fans were taken to a detention centre by bus, as per 'De Telegraaf'. Despite the match ending in a 1-1 draw and Cristiano Rolando being the star for his side, this traumatizing incident certainly humiliated the visitors a lot.
  5. This is the tale of a young Nigerian refugee boy who escaped his homeland along with his mother as the fear of the inhuman terrorist organisation, Boko Haram continued to grow amidst the streets of Nigeria. Getting inside the borders of the United States of America a year ago, the family found solace, no matter how temporary it may be, in a tiny homeless shelter of Manhattan, New York. The eight-year-old boy, who has come to be known as Tani to his American friends, was guaranteed education in a local elementary school called P.S. 116 wherein, a chess coach, Russell Makofsky, took him under his wing. While Tani showed a lot of interest in the sport, his mother was afraid that she won't be able to afford his dreams as they family was living in a shelter and affording two meals a day was a struggle in itself. Tani's coach Makofsky therefore decided to teach him the sport without taking a single penny from the family. “talent is universal but opportunity is not.” Tanitoluwa Adewumi, a homeless 8-year-old refugee, who won the New York State Chess Championship. Tani, you make all of us proud. Keep smiling and keep winning ps guys let's spread the word and help him out https://t.co/16VdapSimb pic.twitter.com/bXybqSBRle — camila (@Camila_Cabello) March 19, 2019 This is what makes Tani's achievements more impressive. The third-grader, who started playing the game almost a year ago, won the New York State chess championship in his category whilst defeating the kids that belonged to the richest families of the state, who could afford private chess sessions from the best coaches at their disposal, giving them a huge advantage over them. Life for the young genius has not been easier despite being thousands of miles away from the terror of Boko Haram. Kids from his school often teased him for being homeless and there have been numerous evenings when he has returned to his shelter with teary eyes because of it. During a pep rally held by his school, his principal Jane Hsu said: “It's an inspiring example of how life's challenges do not define a person.” Hsu also commends Tani's family for their limitless support and love for their child who has been destined to do great things. Tani wishes to become the youngest grandmaster of all time and at the rate at which he has been improving his game month after month, the time is not far when he finally realises this dream of his.
  6. Remember the foldable phone which Xiaomi teased earlier this year? Yes, the “double folding smartphone” which the company's president Lin Bin showcased in a video? Well, it looks like it'll be the first foldable phone to arrive in India. According to the investors in Xiaomi's supply chain who spoke to iGyaan, Xiaomi's foldable phone is said to make it to the Indian market as early as April or early June this year. Not just that, the phone is said to be priced at Rs. 74,999, which makes this report all the more interesting. Yes, Rs. 74,999 does sound like an expensive affair for a Xiaomi phone, but it's worth pointing out that we're talking about a foldable phone. Other players competing in this space like Samsung & Huawei are selling their phones for as high as $2,000, which roughly translates to about Rs. 1.40 Lakh. If Xiaomi manages to launch its foldable phone at such a price, then it'll be undercutting the price of its competition by half. In fact, Rs. 74,999 is less than what you would pay for something like an iPhone XR in the country. © YouTube One of the main differences between Xiaomi's and other foldable phone is said to be the display. Both Samsung and Huawei are using high-quality OLED panels for their devices, whereas Xiaomi is said to be using Visionox Technology OLED, which hasn't really been tested so far. It's also worth pointing out that Xiaomi's foldable phone, unlike the Galaxy Fold, only has one screen with two foldable hinges on the left and right. Instead of switching back-n-forth between two screens, Xiaomi's phone will just fold backwards to become a smaller phone. With all that being said, there's no way to tell if these changes will compromise on quality. In case you don't know, Samsung has also confirmed that it's launching the Galaxy Fold in India, so it looks like we're about to see a lot of buzz surrounding the foldable phones in the country this year.
  7. Indian men have gone through layers of conditioning before they finally fell into a layer that made them the men they are today. As vague as that statement sounds, it holds true for an India post the #MeToo movement. Every man I meet nowadays is either talking about how to respect women better or be their 'knight in shining armour'. Truth be told, women don't really need a knight in shining armour as much as they need equality from their men. Be it their partners, they're subordinates, they're mentors, teachers, colleagues, or even their boss, women seek equality in terms of varying thought processes and of course actions. (c)Twitter While delving further into this, I came across research hosted by a popular dating app called OkCupid, talking about how men have evolved in the way they submit to their thoughts and actions in society and how perspectives have truly changed where they're concerned. The research throws light on a gentle evolution of how, post the #MeToo movement, men have a fair insight into a woman's perpetual struggle in society and helping them link ties and making things equal is something they're honouring more and more every day. Here are 3 things that have evolved for men post the #MeToo movement and we hope this Women's Day, all women realise they're not alone: (1) A Blunt Understanding Of Feminism There are, and there always will be a few men, who either don't care about feminism, are indifferent towards it, or who completely disagree with it. But there are also a lot of them who're changing their perspective on what feminism is essentially and have supported the cause as much as they're supporting the movement. Apart from subjective connotations for feminism, almost 87% of men believe feminism is 'equality between both the genders'. This perspective has helped enhance the solemn trajectory of how women are treated in certain spaces by the male population and it's certainly an improvement. (c)Twitter (2) Being House Husbands & Homemakers A lot of men, about 88% of them, according to research by the app, are offering to share equal responsibilities with the women, around the house. Be it cleaning or cooking or even taking care of the kids, men are more acceptable about changing roles and taking up something more or equally challenging. A lot of men have taken up to being 'house husbands' if their wives are in successful jobs, which demand long hours from them. This phenomenal acceptance in running the household along with the woman is a welcoming change for sure. (c)Eros International (3) Men Stand-Up For Work Place Harassment About 86% of the population is very much against workplace harassment. Since #MeToo had a big part to play in overall sexual harassment, men became more wary and sensitive about it, especially at places where they'd spend the maximum number of hours. A more vigilant and tolerant attitude was donned by most men around harassment in general and if they're the true watchdogs and a beacon of hope for maintaining peace and security, women shouldn't have much to worry about, especially at workplaces. (c)Pintrest These evolving attitude changes donned by most men is a defining strength for our democracy. With about 81% of the men coming forward in support of the #MeToo movement, we've seen the evolutionary balance become a lot steadier and men become a lot more understanding and tolerant. So, if you're a man and you're reading this article, maybe realise that your own brothers around you are wilfully looking for a change and change is happening, according to this research. So, maybe try and partake in this positive change and build a safe, happy and just society, together.
  8. Apple is known for releasing iOS updates like clockwork every year and the company is gearing up to unveil the new operating system later this year. Each year at WWDC, Apple announces a new and improved OS for the iPhone, iPad followed by a Beta testing period before its eventual launch. Apple keeps new operating system features a big secret however there are already rumours about the upcoming operating system. iOS is probably the most used operating system in the world and a new report by Bloomberg points towards some key changes that help the large install base in using the operating system. Some of these features have been long awaited by fans that will finally see the light of day if these rumours come true. Dark Mode © Twitter It's probably the most requested feature by Apple fans and it seems like the feature will finally come to iPhones and iPads. The rumoured dark mode will work similar to what we have already seen on macOS with darker accents and dark backgrounds. The feature will make looking at the screen for long periods of time less tiring. It will also be less disruptive to a user's natural sleep cycle. The dark mode will also help in improving battery life as iPhones now use OLED screens. Darker colours and themes tend to use less battery on a smartphone which will significantly increase the iPhone's battery life. Better iPad Features © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla iPad users will also get new features with the iOS 12 update as it will incorporate a new home screen and have the ability to tab through multiple versions of a single app. For example, if you have Safari open with many tabs, you will be able to browse pages with more ease. iOS 13 is also said to bring a better file management system, something the iPad needs to make it a proper replacement of a daily laptop. The new iPad Pro is already more powerful than many Windows laptops and a new file management system can change the game entirely. Improved CarPlay Functionality © Apple iOS 13 is also said to bring “improvements to CarPlay” according to the Bloomberg feature. CarPlay was already due for an update and a better interface with iOS 12 however it was pushed back by a year. As of now, there is no word on what the improvements might be however it seems like Apple will add more extensive developer tools making it more accessible for third-party apps. Source: Bloomberg
  9. When you venture out to buy yourself a new smartphone, you know it's going to be a long day. With the market being flooded with a sea of options, it makes mobile shopping a Herculean task! But if a smartphone brand that you've loved, far and long- for it's high-end specifications and affordable prices- announces a new launch, you know you only have to pick the right colour that goes with your personality! And rejoice, mobile-shoppers, because OPPO has announced its new series and we are all damn excited to see what it brings home! OPPO We know how OPPO has been one of the most desirable smartphones in budget segments in India. Keeping up with the legacy of churning out the best specs at the best price, the Selfie Expert brings to the country a new series, which has done grandly worldwide! And according to the grapevine, this new launch would have an in-display fingerprint sensor at a cost less than Rs. 20,000! OPPO While OPPO has had a pretty tight stronghold in the offline markets for the past 5 years– and with a potential growth rise from 2.5% in 2016 to 5% in 2020, what else do we say?- , they aim to come out stronger and better to their online customers because "we are the world, we are the future". Everyone in the country has access to the Internet now, which means that not only are the consumers- US- getting more hands-on, easy access to newer products, but also have a fair amount of knowledge with respect to what to buy and what not. And like I said before, OPPO knows this and will never disappoint! OPPO We have seen in the past that OPPO gives full priority to its target audience, that is you and me, and does thorough research before launching new phones. And hence the phones keep getting better and better. The fact that we get a number of high-end technologies at prices that wouldn't burn a big hole in our pockets, is a testimony to the fact that they aim at improving user experiences. From improvised cameras in every newly launched smartphone to smarter charging solutions to suit the needs of us fast-paced millennials. So, let's just say that I cannot wait to get my hands on the new series! What about you?
  10. On days when our jawans are not fighting with all their might for our safety, they are just like any one of us, who love singing and dancing. Watching them showcase their skills and talent is a treat for us indeed. There are some movies which you can watch once or twice and then there are classics like 'Border', which you can never get bored with, no matter how many times you watch it. The movie's song 'Sandese Aate Hain' brings tears to our eyes, even today. Recently, we came across this video of a BSF Jawan singing that song, which is now going viral and speaks volumes about his exceptional talent and amazing singing skills. The jawan is seen singing the song beautifully, in what looks like a canteen as people continue to gather around him. मà¥à¤ à¤à¤ दिन à¤à¤à¤à¤à¤¾......à¤à¤¯ हिà¤à¤¦ð®ð³ Awesome voice of the @BSF_India solider.#FridayFeeling @gauravcsawant @majorgauravarya @DuttYogi @SunielVShetty @iamsunnydeol @TheSatishDua @atahasnain53 @AdityaRajKaul pic.twitter.com/YiXOlZowW8 — Anita Chauhan (@anita_chauhan80) January 11, 2019 Turns out the mystery soldier is Surinder Singh, who earlier appeared on Indian Idol 10 last year. 11. When we talk about nostalgia, mostly things from our childhood come into our mind. Be it some treasured moments or things we were exposed to when we were young. Of course, by exposed I mean the visual medium, which is such a strong tool, that it becomes a big catalyst in inferring our nostalgia and making it so malleable, that we can visit it anytime we want or like. But that's just because we have the means to do so. But the real part is remembering where these memories stem from and be grateful for the source of such memories, we grew up on. One source I'd always be grateful to would be the renowned Ad Guru and theatre artist Alyque Padamsee, who passed away on the 17th of November, leaving his legacy behind to feed our nostalgia even more. (c)Twitter As the head of Lintas India, one of India's prestigious Ad firms, he gave us a string of brilliant visuals and catchy jingles to remember throughout our lives. His ads were what the 90s were made of and they certainly reeked of boldness and progression. Be it showing women in a different, progressive light or having bold stances about ***, Padamsee created several iconic ad campaigns that we still remember till date. (c)Twitter And so, to keep his memory forever alive and intact, here are some of his best Ads from the 90s. I bet you remember all of them and even if you don't, this is a good way to bring some forgotten nostalgia back: (1) Lalitaji, Surf Ad I remember I used to get annoyed whenever this ad came on TV, but now when I look back, I realise this campaign was solely based on the ideal 'Indian' woman who had to do everything right, including buying a budgeted washing powder! She's value-conscious and never willing to compromise on quality! This ad became really popular back in the day! (2) Liril Waterfall Ad Of course, you remember this ad and you remember the girl in it? Karen Lunel was everyone's 'waterfall girl' when the ad came out. Alyque Padamsee stressed the fact that the girl should not come out of the waterfall in order to give the product that unique and fresh branding. But having a girl bathe in a bikini under a waterfall and make it seem as innocent as possible, was something only Mr. Padamsee could do! (3) Kamasutra Condom Ad This one became a rage back in the day and this is exactly what I was talking about when I said 'progressive'. This and many other Padamsee ads opened India's ad market globally and India was slowly being recognised as a progressive country. The ad had Pooja Bedi, actor Kabir Bedi's daughter in the shower, waiting for her lover. Take a look! (4) 'Hamara Bajaj' Ad Not just the jingle but the entire ad was iconic in every sense of the word. The jingle became a signature tune that represented the ad world of the 80s and some of us still remember it so distinctly! (5) Charlie Chaplin- Cherry Blossom Shoe Polish Ad Pop culture references were popular back then too, and this ad was a great example of that. It was executed brilliantly. I am sure we still remember it! (c)Twitter Alyque Padamsee was a marvel and a talent house in himself. He was a renowned theatre personality as well and some of his work including 'Evita', 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and 'Tuglaq' were outstanding. He even played the role of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Richard Attenborough's 'Gandhi'. His legacy will continue to live within us in the form of nostalgia from the 90s and we'll never forget his contribution to the Indian ad industry and to theatre, ever.

Two years ago, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma. 13. Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru have reached their breaking point as far as traffic is concerned. The three are prime examples of the huge inflow of people in search of opportunities because development has been concentrated in these parts of the nation only. This vacuum has left the cities with tens of millions of people, and no space to actually house them in a comfortable way. To counter this very issue, Uber is envisioning UberAir, its concept for urban air mobility. The company today announced the concept at the Uber Elevate Expo being held in Tokyo. It aims to launch demonstration flights in several cities in 2020 and a paid flying taxi operation by 2023. While Uber launched its Elevate programme in 2016, last year the ride-sharing company announced its intention to launch flight demonstrations of UberAir in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Now, the company has released the first example of future routes for Uber Air flights for Delhi, Tokyo, Mumbai, Seoul, Sydney, and Taipei. The company suggests it can save up to 2 hours every day for commuters via the ambitious project. Uber will meet the country's policymakers in the coming weeks and is keen on implementing the project. © Uber By offering what it calls urban aerial ridesharing, cities across the globe over a five-year period will be able to ease out road congestion as a result of the growing population. The company is working with multiple partners to help build the aircraft with a range of 5-100kms. The aircraft is expected to maintain an altitude of 1,000-2,000 feet and should be able to do more than 100kms on a single charge. Uber is currently working with partners such as Embraer and Boeing-owned Aurora Flight Sciences to develop vehicles, and the company unveiled its first design in May. © Uber “Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru are some of the most congested cities in the world, where travelling even a few kilometres can take over an hour. Uber Air offers tremendous potential to help create a transportation option that goes over congestion, instead of adding to it,” the company said. Bengaluru already has a heli-taxi service operational by the government from Electronic City to Bengaluru Airport.
  14. For a very long time now, people have been clamouring to see Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone together in a movie, however, no maker was able to pull off this mega star power casting, and now, it seems like Sanjay Leela Bhansali might just have done the unimaginable. The famous filmmaker is all set to bring his favourites together on-screen, giving Bollywood a new on-screen couple to look forward to. (c) Colors While the two actors have expressed their desire to work with each other, nothing seemed to be coming through. But now, it looks like the fans will finally get what they have been waiting for. If reports are to be believed, Bhansali is keen on casting both the actors in leading roles for his next movie 'Inshallah'. (c) Colors It's no secret that after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone became his ultimate muse. The director and the stunning diva have given us three amazing films so far, 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela', 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Padmaavat', that became blockbusters and were loved by the audience. And now once again, Deepika is his leading lady. Interestingly though, Bhansali seems to be veering towards Salman, instead of Ranveer Singh. (c) SLB Talking about the movie, a source revealed to a leading daily. "Inshallah might be the title of the film that will reunite Sanjay and Salman. He got the title registered last week with IMPAA. And looking at Bhansali's working style, he might take six to nine months to complete the final draft of the script, and he may start shooting by next year, after Salman is done with his other prior commitments including his next film, Bharat.” (c) SLB If things go as planned, then Salman and Bhansali will be working together after a gap of 11 years since 'Saawariya'. The movie will hit the screens on Eid 2020, and we can't help but say 'Inshallah'.
  15. Over the time, Sushant Singh Rajput has made his own space in B-town. Coming from the small screen and making it big in tinsel town is certainly no walk in the park. Call it sheer luck or pure hard work, the man is here to stay. © Twitter His journey began in 2013 with 'Kai Po Che', a brilliant movie that did wonders to his career, as the actor won many hearts and shot into the spotlight. Watching him as 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' left many impressed as well, as it was an out-of-the-box character, that not many could have essayed so well. And then came the blockbuster biopic 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. Loved by everyone, especially Dhoni fans, the movie achieved heights of success like no one could have imagined. Overnight, Singh became a household name and from that point on, there was certainly no looking back for him. © Twitter Sushant has various projects in his kitty and has signed a new one recently, which has his fans all excited. The actor will soon star in a 12-part biopic series, and every episode will unfold the story of an inspiring Indian genius. From Chanakya, Rabindranath Tagore to APJ Abdul Kalam, the yet-to-be-titled series will start from 540 BC to 2015 AD, spanning 2000 years. The viewers will witness the phenomenal saga of heroes who changed India and contributed to the history of the nation in the most unimaginable way. © Twitter It is interesting to see how the history of India, has all of a sudden, begun to form as the premise for many projects within the entertainment industry. Recently, even Ajay Devgn announced that he will be playing Chanakya in Neeraj Pandey's upcoming film. It will be interesting to see who nails the essence of Chanakya better, Ajay or Sushant? © Twitter “We are excited to bring to the audience a new series presenting the most magnificent stories of India. These 12 geniuses have made a paramount contribution in forming the India that we live in today. Sushant has always been extremely passionate about learning new things and following the philosophies of these people, hence, he decided to bring them to life on screen,” said Varun Mathur, Founding Partner, Innsaei Ventures. With 12 challenging roles to play, we wonder if Sushant is the right pick after all, or would it have been more prudent to have 12 different actors playing these powerful characters? All we can do for now is wait, before forming any assumptions of our own.
