  1. Will Smith stunned the world when he slapped Chris Rock during the live broadcast of the 94th Academy Awards. The incident took place after Chris joked about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, looking like 'GI Jane 2' while hosting the Oscars 2022. Since Jada is diagnosed with alopecia (an autoimmune condition), Will got upset and stormed the stage, slapping Chris and warning him not to use his wife's name. View this post on Instagram While the whole incident got a mixed response, the Gemini Man star took to social media and apologised for his behaviour in a long note. He wrote, "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally". View this post on Instagram A few days after the slapgate, Chris too has broken his silence and talked about the event during his comedy show in Boston recently. He didn't criticise Will Smith or make fun of him. He stated that he was still processing whatever occurred on that particular day. He said, "How was your weekend? I don’t have a bunch of s**t about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that s**t. And it will be serious and funny". View this post on InstagramAfter Will's slap incident, the Academy too condemned it in a tweet stating that they don’t condone physical violence. Interestingly, Chris has decided to not press charges against Will for the slapping incident. Looks like both of them have solved the issues amicably after the event. View this post on Instagram Before issuing an apology on Instagram, Will also said sorry to the Academy and his fellow nominees after receiving the Best Actor trophy for his portrayal of tennis coach Richard Williams, in King Richard. 2. It's been an entire freaking year since we watched Avengers: Endgame for the first time and became an emotional wreck because of it. Even now, after so many rewatches, any Marvel fan would feel the same kind of excitement when Captain America finally wielded Mjolnir and would be devastated when Tony Stark dies. The movie left a huge impact on every fan and what wouldn't we give to watch the movie for the first time all over again. But since that's obviously not possible, we can settle for all the new behind-the-scenes content that directors Joe and Anthony Russo are blessing us with right now. The entire process of making the movie would be as epic as the movie itself, after all it's the culmination of 22 movies and you have literally every actor who's ever been a part of MCU coming together. They hosted a virtual watch party and shared a bunch of BTS that honestly, I might just forgive them for ruining Cap's character arc in Endgame. The best one is, hands down, RDJ's final scene and what followed that. Downeyâs last day on set after shooting the âI am Iron Manâ moment. The very definition of a legend. 3. Everytime Apple launches a new product, it's obviously the most memed and joked about thing. But, this time Apple made themselves a target for memes without even launching anything, actually basically by cancelling a lunch. Back in 2017, Apple announced AirPower, a product that was supposed to charge iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods simultaneously. Well, sounds a little over ambitious and turns out it was since the wireless charging map has been cancelled by Apple. “After much effort, we've concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project," Dan Riccio, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple, told TechCrunch. He also, added, "We apologise to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward.” Well, people don't need to think even twice to make fun of Apple - through their Apple devices, ironically - and that's what happened as soon as the AirPower news came out. It's a big goof up. THEY. HAD. THE. AIRPOWER. ON. THE. BACK. OF. THE. BOX! 4. Vicky Kaushal is the kind of fashionista who doesn't ever try hard. But the thing is, he doesn't need to. His cheerful demeanour coupled with the effortless charm of a chivalrous guy next door works wonders for him, every single time. However, he just won a bunch of awards, and wore a super classy blue suit for the occasion. Naturally, all eyes were on him, and how 'dreamy' he looks in that became the talk of the town. Take a look. © Instagram/vickykaushal09 Vicky wore a smart blue suit from Tisa Studio with a statement embossed aesthetic that stood out, despite being extremely subdued and subtle. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The stretch of strong royal blue is making him look super tall (not that he needs it, at all, being as tall as he actually is). When it comes to footwear, the dark plum and black Oxfords are a perfect accompaniment to the statement suit. © Viral Bhayani The fact that he chose to wear the standard white shirt with it, casually unbuttoning the topmost part, shows that the man has nailed it when it comes to be effortlessly stylish. © Viral Bhayani Vicky won the Dadasaheb Phakle Award for the Best Performance in a Leading Role for 'Uri', the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Award, and the Femina Fresh Face of the Year Award. Congratulations, champ!
  5. Once upon a time, T'Challa aka Chadwick Boseman always seemed very excited to make his fans happy with the famous cross-armed 'Wakanda Forever' salute but we all have seen how quickly it got old for him. The poor guy was asked to do nothing but that at every premiere, every show, every red carpet, literally all the time. I can see how that would get annoying. But, 'Black Panther' is billion fucking dollar movie, I don't think he can or would complain about just crossing his arms sometimes. While he himself is not complaining, a few months ago, his face started betraying him. He couldn't help his expressions and it clearly looked like he is actually dead inside and has completely lost his soul to Wakanda. Starting off as a happy guy whose movie just made a lot of money - © Twitter He lost his soul pretty soon. © Twitter There's nothing inside. © Twitter “Please don't make me do this again.” © Twitter Totally dead inside. © Twitter A literal cry for help. © Twitter Will he ever be this happy with his arms crossed again? © Twitter In the meantime, maybe he can shift his focus on this to momentarily forget about how he probably has to do 'Wakanda Forever' forever. Happy birthday, Chadwick!
  6. 'The MCU has a CGI problem' and 'why is Marvel overusing CGI?' – this is something I've come across online a few times and I totally agree. Yes, why doesn't Marvel just build huge spaceships and just make new planets to shoot their movies? Why do they use CGI when it's so easy to spend millions of dollars to make sets and destroy them? And surely, they can easily get actors to play different characters? Stop taking roles away from talking trees and raccoons, Marvel. Okay, keeping all the sarcasm aside, Marvel relies on CGI for obvious reasons. While we love all the cool effects and everything in the movies, seeing some of the characters without any CGI probably has the potential to ruin anyone's day. It's so expected and unexpected at the same time and not to mention, hilarious. But, before that, everyone needs to watch this on loop. Hollywood jumps without CGI Okay, not that we've see Benedict Cumberbatch's awkward jump, let's come back to the characters with CGI. I think this is the most common picture. I can't believe Chris Hemsworth managed to keep a straight face while shooting this, now this is called real talent. © Marvel The secret behind Rocket Raccoon. © Marvel Ultron, for real. © Marvel 'Am I Groot?' © Marvel It gets weirder the longer you look at it. © Marvel I just feel uncomfortable looking at this. © Marvel No suit. © Marvel It's not really a portal? 8. Social media following and a stellar list of followers is a beautiful tool for validation, and we all suffer from this constant self esteem evaluation, including the celebrities. The blue tick and a verified account comes at a price of the celebrity status that a user enjoys and Amitabh Bachchan needs no introduction. Besides being an icon he also enjoys a following of 32.9 million people. However, that's probably not the exact number, at least according to Mr. Bachchan. He is currently miffed with the authorities of the social media platform, because he believes that some sorcery has happened and he is losing followers. T 2599 - TWITTER ..!!!?? you reduced my number of followers .. !!??HAHAHAHAHAHAHA .. !! thats a joke .. time to get off from you .. thank you for the ride .. ð ð ð .. there are many 'other' fish in the sea - and a lot more exciting !! pic.twitter.com/85c15pDif4 — Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) January 31, 2018 Senior Bachchan is very particular about the number game on his Twitter timeline and even reprimands the platform sometimes for an error that he believes happened at their end. T 1334 - last tweet number should be this not 1333..!! — Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) December 26, 2013 Some version of an amusing investigation shows that the development could have happened due to his inactivity for a while, or his hilariously narcissistic choice for putting his photograph on every tweet, regardless of what the tweet reads. Sample this: T 2160 - FINALLY ..! Leonardo gets Best Actor at Oscars .. ! A considerate co star and a thorough gentleman ! pic.twitter.com/9ut6Htn6Dd — Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) February 29, 2016 But you've gotta give it to him for his chid like demeanour and penchant for sharing random stuff with over 32 million people. T 1745 - YYEAFFSAFFCCCCCCCOOOOOHHHAAAAAAAAMMMMMM !!! Bas aise hi man hua ki aisa kuch likh dun .. !! — Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) January 21, 2015 We don't really know what the reason is for him losing his followers, but whatever it might be, we just hope he decides to not fish around and stay back.
  9. Arguably one of the most memorable years for Indian cricket, 2017 symbolises the dominance of Virat Kohli & Co. in the gentleman's game. Barring the heart-breaking ICC Champions Trophy loss to Pakistan, India pretty much roughed up opponent after opponent to claim the status of 'The Invincibles'. They hammered England 2-1 to win the ODI series before doing the same in the three-match T20I duel by the end January. The likes of Bangladesh obviously didn't stand a chance in the one-off Test as India romped to a 208-run win. The Australians, who were next in line, sure looked like posing some challenge but even they couldn't negate India before losing the Test series 2-1. The Indian team, on the back of a painful Champions Trophy final loss, vented out their anger by beating West Indies 3-1 in the five-match ODI series before losing the one-off T20I. Their next destination was Sri Lanka who were whitewashed 3-0 in Tests, 5-0 in ODIs and 1-0 in the one-off T20I. Reuters Australia came knocking back again, only to lose 4-1 in the ODIs before drawing 1-1 in the three-match T20I series. Next up was New Zealand who also lost 2-1 in ODIs and T20Is. With revenge on their minds, the Lankans took the short route to India and lost 1-0 in Tests, 2-1 in ODIs and 3-0 in T20Is. Thanks to that, India claimed the no. 1 spot in Tests, no. 2 in ODIs and no. 3 in T20Is. That was the kind of year and form - full of winning streaks and individual records - the Indian cricket carried when they travelled all the way to South Africa for their first overseas tour of 2018. Such was the excitement that the three-match Test series was being looked at as a gruelling contest between the world's top two teams in the longest format. It was a contest between India's star-studded batting line-up against the fiery bowling attack of South Africa. And, there was little doubt that it was India's strongest team ever to have travelled to the Rainbow Nation for a cricket contest. No one really cared about the outcome, it was a good cricket contest that everyone had hoped for - one that we've missed even in the recent Ashes series. AP But, even before the first delivery was bowled in the first Test at Newlands, something just didn't seem right. It could have been the pitch report foreseeing the fate of Indian batsmen or it was probably Kohli's surprising team selection that raised a few eyebrows. Nonetheless, Indian fans were still up and about the contest, at least till they saw Indian batsmen coming to bat. The world's no. 1 Test team, boasting one of the strongest batting line-ups in modern-day cricket, was not expected to be bowled out for 209, which could have much lesser if it wasn't for Hardik Pandya's 93 in the first innings. Anyway, Indians are used to being wishful thinkers and when India was left chasing just 208 runs to win, many thought the misfiring Indian batting unit could surely manage that. But, no they couldn't. A target of 208 runs was made to look like a 400+ total as the Indian batting order fell like a pack of cards and were eventually restricted to just 135 runs. Apart from Pandya, none of the Indian batsmen were able to score a fifty and in fact, there were ten single-digit scores posted by Indian batsmen across the two innings. AP A loss in the first match did not drag the fan's spirits down. After all, how stupid can Kohli or his teammates be to commit the same mistake twice, right? Wrong. If his decision to drop Ajinkya Rahane in favour of Rohit Sharma baffled everyone, Kohli didn't follow the same pattern but made it worse by dropping Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the second Test in Centurion. If fans thought that their team wasn't going to look stupid again, Kohli had already given them a reason to expect a repeat of the Newlands debacle. The second Test, once again, saw a lone Indian batsman leading from the front, only this time it was the skipper himself. Kohli's 153 kept India in the game, but there was no sign of his real intent from his popular teammates. Still, the fact that the Indian bowlers bowled South Africa out for 258 runs in the second innings allowed fans to dream on. After all, a target of 287 runs - with Kohli probably back in form - wasn't going to be that easy. But, the top-ranked Test team stuttered again, the only difference being the fans not really surprised. Reuters Rohit Sharma saved himself from potential character assassination with his knock of 47 runs. But, the fact that Mohammed Shami - who scored 28 - was the top scorer after Sharma goes on to highlight how miserable one of the world's strongest batting line-ups have been. Bowled out for a mere 151 runs, this Indian team - irrespective of their bravado last year - is not worthy of the world no. 1 tag in Test cricket. A team that looked like they were from another planet at home last year, were made to look like an associate nation. In fact, they are probably worse than the minnows, for at least they have ventured into the sport only recently. World no. 2 just made World no. 1 look like World no. 10 ðð Thank God for Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada pic.twitter.com/AOhuKlL3wH — January 28th ðð (@ScottMakasi) January 17, 2018 It's really beyond sadness to see a team play like there's no one to defeat them at home until they travel abroad where the myth separates from reality. A reality that this current crop of Indian team - fit, aggressive, talented and full of confidence - is nothing more than a bunch of home-track bullies. The defeat in the second Test means that India has lost the three-match series 2-0 with one game still left to play. Moreover, it also means that India - who've never won a Test series in the Rainbow Nation since 1992 - will probably have to wait a little longer to improve their record.
  10. The 2017 Solar Eclipse was probably the most anticipated event of the year and for a few surreal moments along a narrow strip of the United States; the sun was completely blocked by the moon. Obviously, this huge, once in a lifetime event was accompanied by a lot of jokes – from Twilight to mocking Donald Trump, everything was done. But, hands down, the best one was this. HA HA HA I've blocked the Sun! Make way for the Moon. #SolarEclipse2017 pic.twitter.com/nZCoqBlSTe — NASA Moon (@NASAMoon) August 21, 2017 Whoever runs the NASA Moon account just won the internet. The eclipse lasted for not more than 2 minutes and 2 seconds on a bright Monday morning, making America experience darkness in broad daylight. The internet is just filled with pictures of the eclipse right now, and here we have some of the coolest ones that were captured. Enjoy! 11. The recently concluded Coldplay concert was a huge success. The crowd went berserk as Chris Martin sang ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ or when he lay down on the stage singing ‘Fix You’. The much-celebrated Global Indian Citizen concert that aimed at raising awareness about causes like sustainable development and sanitation, ironically, saw grounds littered with plastic bottles and leftover food. Because, littering in public comes naturally to us, eh? © Facebook While the ‘global citizens’ paid through their nose for the tickets that cost anywhere between 5000 INR to 35,000 INR, many got their tickets by pledging their support and commitment to causes like eradication of poverty, right to clean water, sanitation, and sustainable development. This is right outside the Global Citizen concert. People who've done this, have taken the pledge for sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness. pic.twitter.com/SjnqWYg0E0 — Partha Sinha (@parthasinha) November 19, 2016 The concert venue had limited number of recycling bins and as such, the happy crowd decided to leave behind empty water bottles, plastic wrappers and leftover food on the grounds as they merrily grooved to the band’s music. So much for Swachch Bharat. While we compete to express our disdain for lack of sanitation and other facilities, corruption and poor infrastructure in the country on social media, we betray a huge indifference to those very causes. There are still many of us who don’t bat an eyelid before hurling an empty packet of chips on the road, or littering the street where heaps of garbage already lie unattended. We are a busy nation, we are always struggling to better our careers, our social lives, and our bank accounts. As such, who has the time to care for the environment, right? © Facebook We keep our houses clean but litter the lanes outside. We can pee on the road, but shoes must be removed before entering the house. We throw leftover food on the streets, hoping the cows or other animals will eat them but we don’t care if the animals choke on the plastic the food is in. Are we really so insensitive and selfish? Not all of us are. But thankfully, there are some among us who care for the environment. A group of volunteers came forward to help and clean the whole mess at the Coldplay concert venue and worked hard to clear it all up. Guess things are-a-changing and there are some amongst us who care for our dear planet. But we wouldn’t be able to make a dent unless all of us sit up and decide to be more responsible citizens of the country and the planet. Let’s keep the pledge alive. Say ‘I pledge to care’ in the comments section if you are among those who actually and genuinely care.
