  1. The latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of, Bigg Boss 13, showcased the host Salman Khan expressing his anger with the contestants' behaviour for the past one week. He said that the conduct of housemates has left him uninterested in the show. He also told everyone in the Bigg Boss house that he is concerned about his image as there are fans who only watch the show on weekends. He, infact, requested the housemates to not tarnish his image. In the latest episode, the 53-year-old host also said, “Bhad mei jaao tum log. This is the worst week in the history of Bigg Boss.” © Viacom 18 Salman gave chance to contestants Sidharth Shukla and Asim Riaz to explain about why they were fighting over apples and oranges. Besides, he also slammed Himanshi for her behaviour with Shehnaz without any reason, and told her that she shouldn't have entered the house if she had so many problems with Shehnaz. In addition to that, he also called Shefali's captaincy unfair and biased to which the housemates agreed. Shefali also received a lot of flak from the inmates for being a partial 'sanchalak'. Defending herself, Shefali said, “I had no personal interest in making anyone a captain. This has already ruined my friendship with Sidharth Shukla.” Salman, however, said that Sidharth wasn't wrong in his move and he won the task smoothly. © Viacom 18 Later, Shefali accepted her mistake and said that she wasn't vigilant. This week has left the viewers confused as the friendships inside the house have become unpredictable. Stay tuned to MensXP for all the latest updates. View the full article

  5. A bad dance performance can lead to your bride leaving you at the altar. Don't believe us? Well, recently, a bride from UP called off the wedding because the groom broke into a 'naagin dance' before the pheras. Yes, that really happened! According to a TOI report, a bride stopped the wedding right after the varmala was done. Reportedly, the groom slapped his would-be wife when she said that she doesn't want to marry him. The police were called but the families didn't file any formal complaints after the groom's family agreed to return the gifts. © BCCL As per the news report, as soon as the baraat arrived at the wedding venue, the groom's friends asked him to dance and started misbehaving a little. The bride's family tried to get his friends off the dance floor but they started getting aggressive. Subsequently situation became calm when the varmala took place but after that, the groom couldn't contain his excitement and jumped back to the dance floor to do 'naagin dance'. He reportedly fell on the floor and misbehaved in his inebriated state, and looking at the ruckus, the bride decided to call off the wedding and left the venue. Speaking on this, the bride's brother said, “The groom was inebriated and didn't care about anybody during the ceremony. All the pre-wedding ceremonies were complete and whatever happened was just not acceptable. We all are hurt after my sister decided to call off the marriage but we still stood by her decision despite community pressure because we know that she has taken the right decision.” © BCCL SI Vipin Singh (in-charge of the investigation) told TOI, “After receiving a complaint, we immediately arrived at the spot but both the families decided to mutually resolve this issue on the advice of senior community members. The groom has given in writing that they would return the gifts by November 14 and bear the expenses.” Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments section below. View the full article

  7. Yes, being a celebrity means opening yourself to a world of hate and harsh criticism. Sometimes, unsolicited too. However, this makes some online trolls feel like they hold the power to simply rip into a star and ridicule them for their own pleasure. Guru star Abhishek Bachchan found himself in a somewhat similar situation, wherein he was trolled out of the blue. © Colour Yellow Productions Junior Bachchan shared a motivational post on Twitter that read, "Have a purpose. Have a goal. Something impossible you want to accomplish, then prove to the world that it's not impossible." Commenting on his post, a Twitter user said, “What do you call a person who is happy on a Monday? Unemployed!" Clearly, what this troll deserved was an epic smackdown, however, Abhishek gave the most polite response instead. Check out the tweet and the actor's response: This is not the first time hat Abhishek has dealt with trolls. The actor always ensures that he never loses it and is level-headed while responding to the trolls. This was nothing but a display of pure class by Abhishek and for that, he has our respect. Abhishek will next be seen in Anurag Basu's untitled film along with Rajkummar Rao. © Colour Yellow Productions He was last time seen on the big screen in 2018 in Anurag Kashyap's film, Manmarziyaan (2018) with Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, which was a hit. Abhishek has been quite selective in terms of choosing his projects and when not working, he is a family man through and through. © Instagram/Abhishek Bachchan And to all the trolls out there who have nothing better to do than attack celebrities for no reason, well, you can keep trying, but it will never make a difference, you're still a sad, faceless, nameless nobody. 10. The former Indian wicket keeper, Farokh Engineer, doesn't believe in mincing words, while claiming his disappointment for the Team India selectors and the 'major impact' Virat Kohli has on the team. He has gone on to label the committee a 'Mickey Mouse' committee and of course, questioned their credentials on holding an important job. © BCCL While expressing his disgruntled state of being over the selection committee he also remembered a time from the 2019 World Cup where the sight of an Indian selector serving tea to Kohli's wife, Anushka Sharma in the VIP box left him feeling absolutely disgusted. He also went on to say that only experienced crickets should be in the selection committee rather than the current panel of selectors, who're inexperienced to say the least. After the said claim was made, Anushka Sharma, through her Instagram account broke her silence on the numerous accounts she was aggressively blamed for Virat's performance and the tea incident Engineer spoke about in his claim. This is what she had to say: © Instagram © Instagram Maybe it's a little too late but Anushka breaking her silence on how she's always in the centre of attention whenever Virat doesn't perform his best is something that was urgently needed and we're glad she came forward and made her voice heard. Especially on the fact that she drinks coffee and not tea! View the full article
  11. Shah Rukh Khan has earned the title of a true king from the gestures that he makes whenever he is around people. SRK recently was all over the news for saving Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's manager Archana Sadanand from a major fire accident. From celebs to commoners, everyone appreciated SRK for doing so and in the heroic process, he also suffered minor injuries. Now, SRK's BFF Salman Khan couldn't help himself but applaud the Raees actor and even called him a real hero. Salman shared a clip of Shah Rukh from 'Manwa Lage' song, with a voiceover saying, “Hero woh hota hai jo aag mein kood ke, bhuja ke, bachaata hai.” This surely gives us some major bromance goals. Check out the Instagram post here: View this post on Instagram @iamsrk A post shared by Chulbul Pandey (@beingsalmankhan) on Oct 30, 2019 at 8:29am PDT Fans on Instagram were happy to see Salman appreciating SRK for saving Aishwarya's manager. It was on Amitabh Bachchan's Diwali bash that the incident took place. “Archana was with her daughter in the courtyard when her lehenga caught fire. Those around were stunned and didn't know what to do. Shah Rukh had the presence of mind, rushed to Archana, and put out the fire. He, too, sustained minor burns while dousing the flames with a jacket. His only thought was to put out the fire," a source told Mid-Day. On the work front, Salman is soon going to be back as Chulbul Pandey to entice his fans on the big screen in Dabangg 3. View the full article

  14. Pakistani Singer Rabi Pirzada needs no introduction. At least, not in India and the reasons for her popularity have no connection whatsoever with her music. Everyone who knows her, or has heard of her, will know how she threatened to attack PM Narendra Modi with the help of her friends, that is, snakes and alligators. © Twitter Now, Rabi Pirzada is back with another threat and this time it looks like a serious one, although desi people just like the last time are busy trolling her. After epic goof-ups like 'Johnny Sins is a Kashmiri guy who lost his vision to pellets' and tagging the UNO card game instead of UN; people have now moved on to mocking Pakistani pop singer Rabi Pirzada, who has now posted a picture wearing a suicide vest threatening to attack PM Modi. © Instagram In fact, that's not all. In one of the posts she even called PM Modi 'Hitler'. She used hashtags like 'ModiHitler' and 'Kashmirkibeti'. Pirzada has been posting threatening and hateful posts against India and PM Modi ever since the government announced the scrapping of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu & Kashmir. Desi people were clearly not impressed with her distateful post. While some were very angry with her post, others put their sarcasm hat on and unleashed a meme fest on social media. 15. October has been a good month for the Indian cricket team who dominated the visiting South African side in Test cricket and won every match they played against and Faf du Plessis' side. Having already won the three-match red-ball series against the Proteas with a 2-0 lead in Pune in a dominating fashion, they outdid themselves during the third and final Test in Ranchi. They executed yet another brilliant performance with the batting lineup led by Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane followed by a bowling clinic by the pacers. Wrapping up the entire South African batting order twice in two days and winning the match with two days to spare, Virat Kohli's men made their winning streak in the longest format of the game at home even better, and are leading the ICC World Test Championship with a massive 240 points. The brutal display of cricketing prowess by the team led their Head Coach Ravi Shastri to compare them to a Ferrari. “Once you take 20 wickets, with the batsmen we have, if that clicks, it's like a Ferrari,” he said after the third Test. If India are like a Ferrari, what types of car are other teams like? ð pic.twitter.com/QlOJZunbM3 — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) October 22, 2019 India's comparison to the supercar led to the Twitter users using this opportunity to compare some of the other ICC teams to different cars. 16. Last Sunday was an epic day for all Indian cricket fans, as Team India emerged victorious after defeating Pakistan at Old Trafford in England in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The whole country was celebrating the win but it was Ranveer Singh who stood out, because the excitement he showed after India won the match, was on some other level. Ranveer has basically gotten into the shoes of Kapil Dev for his upcoming film, '83, and is all set to entice the fans with his performance in the movie. Just like every 'desi' cricket fan, Ranveer has also been gripped by the World Cup fever and earlier today, he shared a string of images with cricketers and videos from Old Trafford. In one of the videos, he is seen cheering for India and well, it was BFF Arjun Kapoor's comment that caught our attention. “Baba u were the best player off the pitch... what a playa !!! The fashion mafioso the cricket gangster the nuanced celebrator the power hitter !!! #subtltythynameranveersingh.” Here's the video: View this post on Instagram COME ON INDIA, COME ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ð®ð³ @starsportsindia @icc @cricketworldcup A post shared by Ranveer Singh (@ranveersingh) on Jun 17, 2019 at 2:39pm PDT Ranveer also replied to Arjun and wrote, “hahahahahahahahah @arjunkapoor baba please yaar.” It's no secret that Arjun and Ranveer are the best of friends and never fail to appreciate each other in front of the public's eyes. Check out their conversation here: They always give the perfect bromance goals to all men and the industry talks about their friendship constantly. They are a crazy duo when they are together. On the work front, Ranveer is gearing up for Kabir Khan's '83. Arjun, on the other hand, is leaving no stone unturned for the preparation of his upcoming movie, 'Panipat'. Stay tuned in for more such updates.
  17. United States President Donald Trump is known to have a way with words. And, of course, that isn't anything to do with great use of the English vocabulary or enlightening his audience to insightful remarks. Instead, Trump often ends up making headlines and courting controversy by expressing his beliefs and opinions under the public glare. And this aspect of his personality isn't coming to light just now, it's been around since time immemorial. Remember, new "environment friendly" lightbulbs can cause cancer. Be careful-- the idiots who came up with this stuff don't care. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 17, 2012 Even his latest diplomatic visit to the United Kingdom was met with protests and sloganeering, as thousands took to the streets of London to voice their dissent against Trump's visit to the country. (FYI, Trump denied that Londoners were protesting against his visit and called the demonstrations “fake news” though as many as 75,000 people participated in the protests.) (c) Twitter However, the latest reason why Trump is yet again trending on social media is because of his most recent tweet. For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon - We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 7, 2019 Yes, you read that right. Hours ago, Trump hit out at NASA and said that it shouldn't consider going to the moon as an achievement since the feat was already ticked off 50 years ago. Instead, the space agency should focus on “bigger things”. The tweet only confused people further, because the Trump government had earlier announced their plans to restart moon landings by 2024. As @POTUS said, @NASA is using the Moon to send humans to Mars! Right now, @MarsCuriosity and @NASAInSight are on Mars and will soon be joined by the Mars 2020 rover and the Mars helicopter. pic.twitter.com/Br1sTYfNzd — Jim Bridenstine (@JimBridenstine) June 7, 2019 But that's not all. While talking about the need for NASA to shift its focus on bigger things such as Mars, Trump ended up suggesting that the moon is a part of Mars. This major goof-up didn't go unnoticed, and people on social media cannot seem to stop themselves from sharing a great laugh at the expense of the US President and his choice of words. You are not fit to lead this country (or explain the solar system to children). — Trump's Ties (@TrumpsTies) June 7, 2019 "Science" I know reading isn't really your thing so here are some pictures! 18. One of the most pragmatic captains and skilful batsmen of his time, Michael Vaughan remains a fan-favourite long after his retirement from international cricket. Not one to shy away from speaking his mind, the former England captain has established himself as one of the most respected voices in the sport. From his informative match analysis to honest reviews, Vaughan continues to garner public interest on social media. With the ICC World Cup currently underway, Vaughan is quite busy expressing his views on players, teams and notable performances in the tournament. During India's six-wicket triumph over South Africa at the Rose Bowl on 5th June, the England veteran labelled Kedar Jadhav as his "new favourite bowler". Kedar Jadhav is my new favourite bowler .... !! — Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) June 5, 2019 Clearly, there was a touch of sarcasm in Vaughan's remark. Jadhav, a batting all-rounder, was used by Virat Kohli as a sixth bowler to get some overs in quickly. And, given his role, Jadhav did alright, conceding 16 runs from four overs without any wicket to his name. Calling Jadhav his new favourite bowler was more of a dig than praise by Vaughan - something that didn't go down well with one particular Indian fan. Typical English ex-player-turned-expert. Even the best of them (Vaughan isn't one of them) only follow non-England players when they play in England, and even if they've played there before, they react like they're watching them for the first time, often with condescension. https://t.co/LEUTVJHpV6 — Karthik Krishnaswamy (@the_kk) June 5, 2019 Responding to Vaughan's tweet, an Indian fan called the former England cricketer a “typical ex-player-turned-expert” who wasn't among the best produced by England over the years. "Typical English ex-player-turned-expert. 19. The whole world is going crazy over 'Avengers: Endgame', so much so that a fan landed in hospital for crying uncontrollably during the movie. Someone was beaten up outside a movie hall for giving away spoilers. Yup, that's right! That's the kind of impact the film has had on people across the globe. Marvel Studios Well, the movie has earned more than $1.2 billion in its first week, so you can expect nothing but the best. Looks like everyone wants to know how the remaining superheroes fight Thanos to 'avenge the fallen'. But, there's someone who isn't excited about 'Endgame' at all. In fact, she thinks it's one of the most boring films ever made. Instagram We are talking about columnist and novelist, Shobhaa De. BTW, she wrote 'End Game' instead of 'Endgame' while ranting about the movie. Calling it a multi-million dollar joke, she wrote, "Avengers: End Game. Should never have begun! 20. The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been full of excitement. From blistering knocks, majestic bowling spells to electric fielding efforts, the 2019 season has had it all. But, there's another so-called tradition that has been noticed this year. We don't know how or from where it began, but, every time a bowler produces an expensive spell this season, the term 'Dinda Academy' seems to start doing the rounds on the social media. Often, cricket fans have been seen trolling the bowlers who've struggled with the ball by comparing them with Ashoke Dinda while claiming that they're the products of the 'Dinda Academy'. © Twitter Dinda has had a fruitful career in domestic cricket, most notably in the Ranji Trophy, where he played for Bengal. The right-arm seamer has also played nearly 80 matches in the IPL where he has been a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Daredevils (DD), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the past. While he hasn't been part of any franchise, Dinda's name continues to be used to highlight the poor outing of a bowler this season. Following RCB's 17-run win over Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on 24th April, the Bengaluru-based franchise tried to troll their seamer Umesh Yadav's critics by tweeting: "Dinda academy? What's that?". © Twitter After failing to defend 26 runs off the final over in the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 21st April, cricket fans came down hard on Umesh and labelled him as the latest addition to the 'Dinda Academy'. But, Umesh's improved performance against Punjab, where he took three wickets, instigated RCB to take a dig at the trolls. As some of you pointed out, the previous version of this tweet was in bad taste. However, for all of you who have relentlessly trolled this lad, he said #challengeAccepted and bowled his heart out! 4-0-36-3, 15 off his last two overs & 2 wickets in those! #PlayBold #RCBvKXIP pic.twitter.com/sLDnLRtlcf — Royal Challengers (@RCBTweets) 24 April 2019 While RCB's official Twitter handle deleted the tweet soon after attracting backlash from fans, Dinda, in particular, was so frustrated that he minced no words while slamming the management for being "irresponsible". Sharing an emotional message on Twitter, Dinda claimed that he considered RCB as his home when he was playing for them and has high regard for Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. I personally have no hard feelings for anyone and have always had a fondness for the team for legends like â¦â¦â¦@imVkohliâ© , â¦@ABdeVilliers17â© , â¦@henrygayleâ© and also since I had once called it home. You are surely answerable â¦@RCBTweetsâ© pic.twitter.com/qGKEIAhhIT — Ashoke Dinda (@dindaashoke) 28 April 2019 His tweet also carried a rant aimed towards the social media trolls and RCB who seem to have hurt his sentiments. "Following this tweet from RCB I faced a lot of criticism. I didn't felt the need to react. Things aggravated people started abusing my family, using filthy languages for my daughter and wife. Such lewd comment no father could have tolerated. This makes me wonder where we as a society are headed. But my question is how can RCB being franchise be so irresponsible and post anything against any player? I would like to add here: I am among the decent T20 bowlers according to stats to have represented the franchise," his message read. Dinda's tweet struck a chord with the IPL fans who showered their love and support on the social media. Now you know why RCB fail miserably every season even though they have super stars ðð.. don't bother about their words brother enjoy ur game.. ur two good games will shut all haters.. sad part of cricket is bowlers r blamed so easily compared to batsmen ðð» — Telugodu (@AndhraTelugodu) 28 April 2019 That's why RCB is at bottom of the table ð We support you Dinda ðð®ð³ — Singghh (@Singh_iz_Kingh) 28 April 2019 @RCBTweets please have some common sense. More power to you Champion @dindaashoke — Selvam (@AGR_Selvam) 28 April 2019 Rcb academy ?? What's that ??ðð Its 10th time playoff qualification for csk ð — Thanushkar (@Thanushkar19) 28 April 2019 We MSDian Support You, @dindaashoke ðð — Sanjay Msd (@SanjayMsd07) 28 April 2019 Shame on you @RCBTweets ! You guys need to apologize... — JATIN (@Alias_jatin) 28 April 2019 Sports isn't a easy place to be. As a sportsperson, You've good days. You've bad days. You've good years. You've bad years. An absolute shameful tweet from @RCBTweets On-field, anyways you are a piece of shit. Rarely you have a postive result. 21. To quote one of the most questioned players to make it to the final Indian roster for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in Dinesh Karthik, “There will always be someone who will miss out. That's the nature of the game…”, and surely enough, with the total number of slots at 15 and over 25 supremely talented players competing for them, it is bound to happen that some players would miss out on the opportunity to represent their country in the biggest cricketing tournament there is. One of the best (or worst?) examples of such a case is that of the 21-year-old wicket-keeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, who missed out on the opportunity to a veteran like Karthik, who's considered to bring greater stability and consistency to the already talent-laden squad. On the other hand is the curious case of the 33-year-old Ambati Rayudu who initially was brought up to the team as a batting all-rounder who'd fit perfectly in the two-down spot for the Men in Blue. However, with his questionable bowling action being rejected by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and he batting form spiralling, the Guntur born had to be removed from the final team ahead of the World Cup. Unable to take the news like a good sportsman that he is, Rayudu took a sly shot at the selectors and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by tweeting this: Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup ðð.. — Ambati Rayudu (@RayuduAmbati) April 16, 2019 Losing his spot to Vijay Shankar, who made his ODI debut just a couple of months ago in January, Rayudu said that he's just ordered a pair of 3-D glasses to watch the World Cup. This was in reference to team selector MSK Prasad, who'd called Shankar a three-dimensional player. Responding to the tweet in support was yet another Indian cricketer who was put on the spot by the ICC for an objectionable bowling action and had to revamp the very essential part of his game, Pragyan Ojha. Curious case of some Hyderabadi cricketers... been in a similar situation... understand the winkâð¼ https://t.co/zLtAQIMvYn — Pragyan Prayas Ojha (@pragyanojha) April 16, 2019 “Curious case of some Hyderabadi cricketers... been in a similar situation... understand the wink”, tweeted the former Indian cricketer. Taking his own example after having missed out on the opportunity to play for his country in the 2015 World Cup, Ojha pointed out that being dropped from the team ahead of crucial games is evident for “some Hyderabadi cricketers”. However, his dig at the selectors did not sit well with the fans of Indian cricket: Isn't that why u were supporting him the day before selections? I hAvE gRoWn Up WiTh HiM. Pot calling Kettle black. Instead of whining over selections & talking nonsense filth to divide fans, support the ones who are selected, doesn't matter from which part of India they are from — Saurabh (@imsgshinde2) April 16, 2019 Aur ye Pragyan behati Ganga me haath dhote huye. — Ghenchebaaz (@MVBisht) April 16, 2019 Don't bring state into play.... He was given enough opportunity to perform. Though feel bad for him, but the call was justified on the back of past performance. — Gareeb Joker (@badoombaa) April 16, 2019 You wer dropd frm d team whn ther wer better spinners in d country. If it's a case of Hyderabadi cricketer, thn Laxman and Azruddin wouldnt hav played around 100 tests. Skill matters bhai which many others hav more than u guys. Raydu doesn't deserve a place in India A team also. — dryogeshpatel (@dryogiap) April 17, 2019 Hey Mr. Ojha, don't pull cricket into regional colors! — à¤à¥à¤à¥à¤¦à¤¾à¤° Aciditic Indian ð®ð³ ð®ð³ (@Aciditic_Indian) April 16, 2019
  22. Vivek Agnihotri's political drama 'Tashkent Files' starring Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty released today. The movie tries to find the answer to the reason behind the mysterious death of PM Lal Bahadur Shastri. The movie is not a commercial pot boiler but has garnered a lot of praise in the country and is also turning out to be a hit with the overseas audience. The public feels that besides being a greatly researched movie, it is also a good history lesson for all of us. #TashkentFiles is not just a film; it is lesson of history & it will teach us about our past. So it must be watched & if you have children who are studying then it must be watched as a chapter from history which we weren't taught. The #TashkentFiles releases 2day. It's an important film. If we even call it 1 of the most important films in our history, then too it won't be an exaggeration. It takes lot of courage 2 make a film like this & credit must go to Vivek Agnihotri. Please go & watch it. — Chowkidar hity (@hitykumar) April 12, 2019 In case this piques your interest as well, then you should do your homework, watch 'Tashkent Files' and form your opinion about the whether it is the only political drama that matters for now or not.
  23. India's Mission Shakti has become a huge topic of discussion over the past few days, and rightfully so. There has been a lot of banter surrounding it ever since PM Narendra Modi made the announcement. First, a former ISRO engineer called the mission a complete waste. It was followed by NASA administrator Bridenstine's comments, who didn't really seem happy about the mission. © Twitter Now the chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, has joined the discussion by calling out NASA's comments on the mission. Now, Anand Mahindra, in case you don't know, is very active on the micro-blogging site. He's also known to be very opinionated about all the current happenings. A case of the pot calling the kettle black. From a nation that created most of the debris in space over decades, this is an audacious statement.... https://t.co/QFqCnES2gt — anand mahindra (@anandmahindra) April 2, 2019 In his tweet quoting NDTV, Anand defended Mission Shakti and called NASA's statement 'audacious'. “A case of the pot calling the kettle black. From a nation that created most of the debris in space over decades, this is an audacious statement,' he said. Anand's tweet is essentially a response to NASA chief Bridenstine's comments on the space debris. Earlier this month, Bridenstine said that India's move to destroy a defunct satellite a 'terrible thing' as it left 400 pieces in space. He also claimed that the debris has put the lives of astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) under massive risk.
  24. On 27th March, a missile fired during an anti-satellite missile test by India's Defense Research and Development Organization destroyed a satellite in space. PMO Narendra Modi even addressed the nation to declare India as a 'Spacepower'. The head of NASA, however, isn't particularly happy about it. In fact, the administrator Jim Bridenstine even called the test a “terrible, terrible thing”, while speaking at a livestreamed Town Hall gathering of NASA employees. Why, you ask? Well, it looks like the debris from the test are headed straight towards the International Space Station. The official press release from India's Ministry of External Affairs stated the test was carried out in the "lower atmosphere" to ensure that there were no space debris. But, apparently, 24 pieces from India's anti-satellite test are now heading towards the ISS. Bridenstine said “24 pieces are going above the apogee of the International Space Station. That is a terrible, terrible thing to create an event that sends debris at an apogee that goes above the International Space Station. That kind of activity is not compatible with the future of human spaceflight. It's unacceptable and NASA needs to be very clear about what its impact to us is.” © ISRO The US military, in case you didn't know, tracks the objects in space to predict the collision risk for the ISS and for satellites. Over 23,000 objects are being tracked currently, out of which 10,000 pieces are of space debris. Nearly 3,000 of them were created by Chinese anti-satellite test in 2007. Yes, 24 pieces from India' anti-satellite test sounds like a small number compared to 3,000 created by the Chinese event, but Bridenstine noted that India's test has increased the risk of collision with the ISS by 44 percent over 10 days putting the lives of the astronauts in the ISS in serious danger. Of course, the risk will dissipate over time as much of the debris will burn up as it enters the atmosphere, but we'll have to wait for more updates on the same. Also, this isn't the first time someone has called out India's anti-satellite mission. Last week, a former ISRO engineer also said that Mission Shakti is a complete waste.
  25. Accused of corruption and spot-fixing in an internal inquiry held by BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit led by Ravi Sawani, during the sixth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013, S Sreesanth gets partial relief from the Supreme Court, that slashed the life ban imposed on the Kerala-born cricketer while urging the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) to revisit the punishment for his alleged crimes. A similar verdict was made public back in 2017 when a single-benched Kerala High Court which was spearheaded by Justice A Muhamed Mustaque, removed the BCCI-led lifetime ban on the pacer's cricketing career. However, the decision was reversed within two months as a division bench of the high court restored the life sentence following the Indian cricket board's appeal against Justice Mustaque's verdict. Now, after years of relentless appeals made by the cricketer to the Indian judicial system to override the Board's “completely unfair” punishment, the Supreme Court may have given him a second chance to make good of his career as an Indian cricketer. Having said that, the highest court of the country didn't fail to mention that they did not question the efforts put in by BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit nor did it challenge the authenticity of the findings made by the committee towards Sreesanth's guilt. "In the context of facts and manner in which these things have happened, this court should consider that it (life ban on Sreesanth by BCCI) is unfair. He has suffered for the last five-six years. People want him to play cricket. He was extremely loyal to BCCI," Sreesanth's lawyer and senior advocate Salman Khurshid, appealed to the bench. With Supreme Court providing the cricketer with a green chit to rejuvenate his cricketing career, the ball is in the BCCI's court. Having won the World Cup with the Indian cricket team in 2011, Sreesanth has often expressed his desire to officially return to the field. At 35 years of age, he even promised to give the youngsters a run for their money if the Board lifted the ban.
