ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online NewsThe Pixel 3 is probably the best camera smartphone out there, thanks to cutting edge software and AI. It manages to take awesome pictures using a single lens as compared to Apple's iPhone. Google has now taken a jab at Apple with a new campaign that basically pits the Pixel 3's 'Night Sight' mode against the iPhone XS. © Twitter Of course, in the picture in says 'Phone X' however, it is revealed in a smaller font below to be Apple's latest iPhone. The image was posted by Google's Vice President of marketing Marvin Chow which shows a colourful low-light picture taken by the two smartphones. The difference between the two images is quite apparent. The subject in the image is the model rather than its foreground and it shows that the model is rendered entirely in shadow by the iPhone XS. The Pixel 3 image, on the other hand, looks rather closer to what you would see in real life. In fact, it looks like the picture was taken by a professional photographer. © Google Having said that, the image shot using the Pixel 3 loses some detail and also changes the hue of some colours in the background. Regardless, the Night Sight shot reveals more about the scene than the iPhone XS. We can clearly see the model's clothes and even some facial features. However, it's impossible to know what it really looked like at the time and the lighting conditions for both images. Some users on Twitter complained to Chow about Night Sight's tendency to over saturate and overexpose a shot. The Pixel 3's picture does look awesome, and would be the image most would instantly share online. The iPhone XS's picture requires some editing to make it more shareable. Both have their merits and downsides. Which do you prefer?
