  1. Superhero movies can be inspiring. Characters like Captain America and Iron Man can motivate people to never give up, stay focused on their goals, try harder when things don't seem to go the way they'd imagined, and everything else in between. However, the beautiful thing about such movies is that they are open to interpretation. People are free to fall in love with whichever character they relate mostly to and aspire to become like them. Sometimes a little too much, but that's okay. Take this man, Henry Damon, for example. Currently 41-years-old, the Venezuelan comic book fan got up one morning and decided that he wanted to look like Red Skull from Marvel's 'Captain America: The First Avenger', a fictional (keyword) character played by the ever so talented Hugo Weaving. © Instagram/Henry Damon While the movie was released in 2011, Damon's resolution to look like the Hydra villain came around somewhere in 2012 when he tattooed his eyes black and realised for the first time that he was going to go the distance and modify his face completely to look like Red Skull. “He has loved comic books since he was a kid and always dreamed of being Red Skull, but never got round to doing it,” friend Pablo Hernandez said. © Instagram/Henry Damon After going through a series of operations to get subdermal implants to his forehead, Damon underwent surgery to chop off half of his nose to get the iconic nasal appearance the Nazi villain boasted so much in both the comics and the movie. © Instagram/Henry Damon “Henry aka Red Skull is a physically and intellectually healthy person,” said Emilio Gonzalez, a med-school drop-out with expertise in tattoo-making and extreme body surgeries. “He's an excellent son, husband and father, who has an extreme taste for body modification. Most of my customers know that body modification is the last step of body art, everyone knows very well what they want and as well as Henry, many of them are waiting for me for many years to make their dreams a reality.” After the nose surgery, Damon went on to put silicone implants on his cheekbones and covered his face with red and black tattoos to complete the look. Final result? 2. Former skipper of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi recently released an autobiography titled 'Game Changer', which, to say the least, has to be as controversial as the words that come out of the former cricketer's mouth in his feud with athlete-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir. One of the more interesting and important moments in the book talks about the 2010 match-fixing scandal in which three of Afridi's teammates, namely Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif were found guilty of taking money to intentionally spoil the game for the Pakistani national team. According to the bowling-allrounder's autobiography, Afridi was aware of the fact that Butt, Amir and Asif had taken huge sums of money from a bookie named Mazhar Majeed, to knowingly and willingly underperform at specific moments during the Test-series versus Team England, in London. The bowlers were to deliver 'no-balls' which would help the betting men win some easy money. © Reuters Apparently, when Afridi took the news to the senior management team, they refused to take action against his teammates and this was why he stepped down from the role of Test captain and retired. It was only later when the undercover reporters from News of the World decided to do a sting operation on Majeed and collected video footage of the bribe being exchanged that London's Scotland Yard arrested the criminal. The footage was also used as evidence by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to find cause to ban the three corrupt cricketers for terms between 5 to 10 years. Butt, Mohammad and Asif, along with Majeed were also sentenced with some jail time. © Reuters However, the treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Anirudh Chaudhry does not believe in the “honesty” of Afridi's story. In a tweet he says: Actually, once he became aware, he ought to have immediately reported it to the Anti Corruption Unit of the @ICC . How the ACU dealt with the information of him not having reported this would be interesting because it was a failure of his obligation Inder the code. https://t.co/BDUoHuV505 — Anirudh Chaudhry (@AnirudhChaudhry) May 4, 2019 “Actually, once he became aware, he ought to have immediately reported it to the Anti Corruption Unit of the @ICC. How the ACU dealt with the information of him not having reported this would be interesting because it was a failure of his obligation Under (sic) the code.” So, why did Afridi not approach the ACU immediately after Team Pakistan's management team decided against taking any action over his news? I guess we will never know. However, for now, you can live with the fact that one of Afridi's many (many) retirements happened because of a reason.
  3. Spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk. In the final scene of 'Avengers: Endgame', Captain America, who is now old and grey after returning the Infinity Stones to their respective timelines, hands over his iconic Vibranium shield away to Sam. But, here's the thing: this scene might not be the end of the first Avenger. In a recent interview, 'Endgame' directors Joe and Anthony Russo have hinted towards the return of Chris Evans as Captain America. This may not come as a surprise considering the number of Easter eggs in the movie. © Marvel While speaking to a leading publication about Captain America, the Russo brothers spoke about Captain's solo trip back in time to return the Infinity Stones to their original places. But, in the present, he arrives as an old man, who used his second chance to finally live his life with the love of his life, Peggy Carter for their happy ever after. So, the obvious question here is was Captain America living in the past this whole time? Turns out, in his time travels, he found another dimension to live in with Agent Carter. “If Cap were to go back into the past and live there, he would create a branched reality,” Joe Russo said. “The question then becomes, how is he back in this reality to give the shield away?” he added. © Getty Images Which is what we wondered too. But here's how they responded to that. “Maybe there's a story there," he said, a big hint that his journey is not over yet. "There's a lot of layers built into this movie," he continued, "and we spent three years thinking through it, so it's fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we're thinking.” Obviously, we did not get any confirmations. But the answers clearly leave a big room for the possibility of a 'Captain America 4' someday, maybe. How else do we join the dots? And to tell this story and fill the gaps, Evans could possibly return to the franchise, hopefully. His best friend, Bucky Barnes could possibly know the behind story, considering the way he bid goodbye to Cap. Is it possible that they met in the past? What do you guys think?
  4. 'Avengers: Endgame,' what a spectacle. If anyone tells you there's no way to end a 10+ year story with a single movie while giving everyone closure, just show them everything the MCU has done till date. But here, I'm not going to be talking about any of the countless other things in the movie, I'm going to be focused on just one person, Steve Rogers. If there is anyone in the world who deserved a happy ending, it was this guy. Okay, before I delve deeper into this here's your mandatory spoiler warning. If you haven't watched the movie yet, don't read ahead till you do. If you have watched it, you absolutely must read ahead. Also, I understand how important Tony Stark and Robert Downey Jr. have been to this franchise. It's just that, for me, Captain America has way more impact… Source: Marvel Studios Now with nothing to disturb me I can finally get down to business. Remember that little guy in 'Captain America: The First Avenger?' No no, remember the Human Torch from 'Fantastic Four?' Yeah, that guy made me cry with one of the most epic scenes in cinema I've ever witnessed. Everyone knows Captain America is perhaps the purest among the Avengers. But is he worthy of carrying Mjolnir? Hell yeah. Not just carrying, but using it like a freaking legend. Watching him channel the lightning like he's been doing it for years is an image that's been implanted in my brain and will probably never fade away. (At least not for a while. :p) While writing about it, I couldn't help but replay it in my head another 10 times. This music only helps make it better. There's just one huge problem. Now, you'll want to watch it again. I already have tickets for Saturday and Sunday too. But, what about you? If you can't get anything before next week, come back on Sunday. I'll have a complete breakdown of the movie out. You can live vicariously through me. It doesn't cost anything. Source: Marvel Studios Moving on, all eyes are on Iron Man and he may just be the focus of every single discussion around you but, for me, it's Captain America who had the greatest effect. Is he the strongest Avenger? No. Is he a big, green, unkillable giant? No. Does he understand Quantum Physics? No. Why him then? He's their leader. He's the First Avenger. He's the man everyone rallies behind. It was pretty clear when he was standing alone in front of Thanos and his army that this guy was not going to back down even when nothing was in his favour. Luckily for him, he had a lot of people backing him up when he needed them but he had no idea they were coming. Once they did, who better to say the two words everyone has been dying to hear, 'Avengers Assemble' that the ultimate Avenger? Source: Marvel Studios But forget everything else, when all is said and done. The one scene which has had the most impact on me in all my years of existence is when Captain America grabs hold of Mjolnir. It brought tears of joy to my eyes. Seeing such a powerful scene really made my day. Captain America, just a guy from Brooklyn, was found worthy by a mythical hammer created for the Gods. Boy was he worthy…
  5. With the ICC World Cup 2019 just a month away, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Sarfraz Ahmed, was found making some rather bold statements during a press conference ahead of leaving for England. Considering themselves as the 'underdogs' of the tournament, Ahmed believes that the level of pressure they will be carrying on their shoulders starting their World Cup campaign against the Windies on 31st May 2019, will be manageable. "Look, when we go as favourites, then it's a problem, but if we go as underdogs then other teams feel the danger, so I think being underdogs is good for us and eases the pressure," he said. Eyebrows were raised only when Ahmed mentioned Virat Kohli's Team India in his comments. "For us all nine matches are important so we will take every match as a match against India," said the 31-year-old. "We have beaten India in a bigger event recently so we will have that advantage.” The skipper was referring to their victory in the Champions Trophy final in 2017, in which Ahmed and team dominated the Men in Blue, while winning the match by 180 runs. Pakistan have also won the 1992 World Cup and the 2009 World Twenty20. However, when it comes to the World Cup, India and Pakistan have clashed six times, none of which were won by the perennial rivals of India. As expected, as soon as the statement was made available online, the hardcore fans of the Indian cricket team trolled the wicket-keeper batsman hard and left nothing to the imagination: Meanwhile We INDIANS and INDIAN TEAM be like pic.twitter.com/Cir8KThb1D — Silly Strom (@SillyStrom) April 23, 2019 2017 isko recent lagta hai. — Rahul (Pray for Sri Lankað±ð° ) (@rk5444) April 23, 2019 Looks like he has forgotten the 2 embarrassing defeats against India in Asia cup recently ðð — Abhi Panchal (@iamabhi1909) April 23, 2019 India is 6 - 0 to Pakistan in the World cups, where does this lad live? — ðð ððð®ð¿ðð ðµð²ð¿ð² (@hathnostalgia) April 22, 2019 I don't give a damn what Safaraaz says — Raman Chakrabarty (@RamanChakrabar2) April 23, 2019 Ahmed and his boys will be participating in a three-game warm-up followed by a five-match ODI series and a solitary Twenty20 International with the Englishmen before the World Cup takes place in England and Wales. While Team India's World Cup 2019 journey will begin from 6th June 2019 when they go head to head with the South Africans in the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in West End, Hampshire. India and Pakistan are scheduled to lock horns on 16th June 2019 and you DO NOT want to miss this one.
  6. As the date inches closer for the epic finale of the 'Avengers' series, I must confess that I am pretty close to losing my Goddamn mind! Also, it doesn't help that Marvel has decided to launch a flurry of TV spots every freaking day with second-long new footage from 'Endgame'. The latest TV spot finally gave us a taste of what all of us were desperately waiting for: Cap & Tony Vs Thanos. Yes, we also got the first look of Valkyrie, but let's be honest here, there was only one thing in this sport that left us salivating for more. We all know that this epic battle is going to leave some major casualties…okay, let's not go there now. But this one-second shot has already given us an idea of how epic, mind-blowing and incredible this the final battle is going to be, even though we may lose some of our beloved heroes forever. Here's hoping you guys have already booked your tickets (I have!), and if not…well, ab milne se raha!
  7. Ever since 'Captain Marvel' was announced and Brie Larson took on the role of the strongest Avenger, she's received way too much hate. If hardcore Marvel fans actually don't prefer her in the role of the superhero, that is still understandable, but most of the trolling she faced was mainly from sexist dudebros who personally had a vendetta against Brie or were just too intimidated by a badass female superhero. Whatever that case may be, I feel like she has been judged very unfairly by a lot of people. But, guess what? That doesn't matter that much because the entire Marvel cast has welcomed her into the Avengers family with open arms and couldn't be more happy with her or the character of Captain Marvel. This press tour has already given us so many iconic moments of everyone together, probably for the last time, joking around and having the time of their lives. It also gave us so many great moments of Brie with all her costars. 8. A 74-second footage from the upcoming 'Avengers: Endgame' was shared by the official YouTube channel of Marvel Entertainment yesterday and boy, does it give an insight into what awaits us come May when the movie finally drops in theatres near you. The video starts with a close shot of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) staring at what appears to be a holographic model of the earth as she says: “He used the stones again,” clarifying that Thanos is still in possession of the infinity stones. Quick to jump in, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) suggests that the short-staffed Avengers attack the 'Mad Titan' as soon as possible. When Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) asks why they would succeed this time when their first tete-a-tete clearly tanked in great fashion, to which Captain Marvel says: “Before, you didn't have me.” And then we see the whole sparky moment between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Carol Danvers that we slyly smirked at in the trailers released before, followed by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) saying: “Let's go get this son of a bitch”. Uh... Captain? LANGUAGE! via GIPHY Anyhow, the footage suggests that the team is planning an attack on Thanos and judging by the colour and length of Black Widow's hair, it appears that the scene occurs in the initial moments of the movie when the wounds of losing their teammates and loved ones into thin air are still afresh in the hearts of earth's mightiest heroes. Also, the fact that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) has not made it to the base with his van yet and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are nowhere to be found in the footage, suggests that it's still early in the movie. Now, we have a theory and this is where we are giving a potential SPOILER WARNING just in case we ruin your lives with our ability to see the future: Still here? Okay! We believe that Carol Danvers loses her life in this attack on Thanos. Underestimating the supervillain who still has control of all the infinity stones regardless of the burned down gauntlet, Danvers might try to take him head on and end up dying. via GIPHY Multiple factors have gone into coming up with the theory: 1. The future of Captain Marvel's independent franchise is foggy. When Screen Rant asked Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, if there is going to be a second Captain Marvel movie, this is what he said: “The making of a first film is in some ways a brainstorm on the future and on what can be. So what it will be again is not clear. But what it could be is pretty amazing.” Open-ended and vague, that's a classic Feige response when it comes to a franchise coming to an end. 2. Judging once again by the colour and length of Black Widow's hair, the latter moments of the movie, during which her hair's longer and the red is finally showing, seem to dwell in a comparatively darker tone, almost as if the team just went through yet another grave loss, maybe losing one of their most powerful comrades. Added insult to injury? Maybe. 3. When the second trailer for the movie had dropped a couple of months ago, the scene in which the Avengers walked through the empty hanger wearing the Quantum Realm/Time Travel Suits, Marvel tried their best to digitally remove Stark and Nebula from the scene. Nonetheless, the empty spaces in between, got the fans to smell something fishy. And very conveniently, the following trailers showed all the characters in the shot. However, Captain Marvel was nowhere to be found even then, suggesting that this might be the second attack of the movie, the final stand against the Mad Titan, the 'all or nothing', the endgame. Of course, there is also a possibility that the footage released by the Studios would not make the final cut and was put out into the internet just to throw nerds like us off track in which case, you won Marvel. via GIPHY Fair win.
  9. The past two days of the Indian Premier League has seen some rather bizarre series of events taking place that have changed the complete scenario of the matches with outcomes absolutely different from what the viewers were expecting. We are talking about the matches that took place between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Saturday. You did not even have to look carefully to realise how similar the two games got in the final overs of the second innings, respectively. Let's start by talking about the game between RCB and KKR. During the 17th over Bangalore's bowling, it was Mohammad Siraj who bowled his second dangerous beamer of the match and had to give up the rest of the over with four deliveries left. During this situation, RCB captain, Virat Kohli was standing at the boundary, waiting for the situation to untangle itself. It was only after the umpire had taken the ball away from Siraj that the RCB captain ran down to the pitch to decide what needs to happen. Eventually, he decided to give the ball to Marcus Stoins and KKR's Andre Russell had himself a grand feast. Ruthless. Relentless. Russel ðªð¥ The absolute hitting that led to this though ðð@KKRiders @Russell12A #RCBvKKR pic.twitter.com/4Ou1HzYS34 — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 5, 2019 Now, let's talk about the match between CSK and KXIP. In the second last over of Chennai's bowling, Deepak Chahar bowls back to back beamers at Sarfaraz Khan, who manages to hit a four on the first but takes a single on the second to give the strike to David Miller. This is where MS Dhoni steps in to have a word with the youngblood. Visibly upset with the consecutive no-balls, Dhoni lets Chahar hear it. It felt more like a discussion between an angry school teacher and a student who keeps quiet with hands at the back the whole time. Moment of the day. #DeepakChahar was almost in tears after a terrible start to the over. Couldn't look into the eyes of #Dhoni. Would love to know what from Chahar himself on what was said. Because clearly after this, he seemed a different bowler altogether. #CSKvKXIP #VIVOIPL pic.twitter.com/iwq3yVXjtI — Abhishek Barthur (@imabhi27) April 6, 2019 Instantly, Chahar looked like a different player altogether. After two scary yorkers he ended the over by dismissing Miller. We could not have made this up. One day after another, the two leaders of the Indian cricket team were put in similar spot but while one chose to continue to abuse at his players from the boundary line, the other decided to find out what's wrong with his teammate, shared a few words of wisdom and encouraged him to be the best version of himself.
  10. Another day, another disappointment for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who continue their winless streak in the twelfth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) having played four matches and have found themselves at the bottom of the league's points table. After captain Kohli got dismissed by a magnificent Shreyas Gopal (who ended up with a three-wicket-haul), the second RCB opener, Parthiv Patel put the burden on his shoulders to help his side reach a respectable total of 158. Patel's bat contributed with 67 runs off 41 balls which also included 9 boundaries and a maximum. However, Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler and Steve Smith were too hot to handle for the men in red and gold as they spearheaded Royals to win their first game of the season. Having said that, Tuesday's match against Rajasthan got Virat Kohli an incredible feat to boast about as it provided him with the opportunity to captain an IPL squad for the 100th time and make him only the third cricketer in the world to do so, behind Chennai Super Kings star Mahendra Singh Dhoni (162 matches) and former IPL player, Gautam Gambhir (129 matches between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. Today our skipper – @imVkohli becomes the third captain in IPL history to play as captain in 100 matches. Congratulations Virat, keep playing bold! #PlayBold pic.twitter.com/Ar5FASqB24 — Royal Challengers (@RCBTweets) April 2, 2019 Ironically, such a record that should normally bring a sense of pride to any athlete, also brings immense shame to RCB skipper as Kohli has the worst record amongst the men who have reached such a status. Amongst the 162 games led by Dhoni, he has a win percentage of 60.24% while Gambhir's is at 55.42% with three and two titles under their belts, respectively. Kohli, on the other hand, is at a below average mark of 46.87% wins as captain. Not to forget the fact that Bengaluru have never won the trophy. With another loss of the season in what appears to be a lost cause, RCB fans have resorted to humour to hide their pain but we see right through it: RCB Fans: When will we win our 1st IPL title??? 11. Russo Brothers are super sadistic and we always knew that. We all watched 'Infinity War' and sure, that nearly killed most of us, but they're still continuing to mess with all the Marvel fans. I mean, their Twitter display picture is still this - © Twitter Now that 'Avengers: Endgame' is inching closer and closer, looks like their trolling is also getting more frequent. We all know that Captain America's potential death in the movie is a dark cloud that has been looming over us for a long, long time and even Chris Evans is not helping us feel better. With their arch-rivals Manchester City temporarily at the top position, Liverpool had a great opportunity to dethrone Pep Guardiola's side and gain pivotal ground in the all-important Premier League title race when they travelled to Old Trafford to take on United on 24th February. With a game in hand, the Reds were eager to secure all three points and extend their lead with a potential win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men. But, in a match that was plagued by injuries, Liverpool failed to make the opportunities count and eventually had to settle for a point following their frustrating goalless draw. © Reuters The turn of events at Old Trafford already had the Liverpool boss frustrated, but an incident in the second-half turned his frustration into anger. Unable to beat United goalkeeper David de Gea, Klopp decided to take off club captain Jordan Henderson and deployed Xherdan Shaqiri in the 72nd minute. 13. Captain Marvel is just about two weeks away and honestly we can't wait for it to release soon enough. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a movie about a superhero who is supposed to be the strongest out of everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, actually there are a lot of sexist people out there who are already trying to make the movie bomb on Rotten Tomatoes even before its release but the first reactions to it are here and it looks like the movie is so good, it's bound to shut all the trolls up. Yes, I'm going to ignore the fact a lot of people have already seen the movie - just like I am ignoring the fact that a few people have also already watched 'Avengers: Endgame' - and we're going to focus on how people are saying that Brie Larson has killed it! The movie acts as an origin story for Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel and it'll be great to be introduced to her character before 'Endgame' because we all know how important she will be in that movie. Remember that end credit scene from 'Infinity War'? Coming back to the movie, here are all the positive reactions it has already gotten. #CaptainMarvel has a great '90s sci-fi vibe w/ a tone unlike any other Marvel movie, really. 15. We have come a long way since judging people on the basis of the colour of the skin and calling them out because of the way they look, or have we? South Africa, as a nation, has experienced probably the worst form of racism not too long ago when Apartheid was a part of their day-to-day life. Clearly, the memories of racism and discrimination continue to haunt them even now. Under such circumstances, the Pakistani captain and wicket keeper, Sarfraz Ahmed somehow got the brilliant idea to racially taunt the Proteas batsman Andile Phehlukwayo on Tuesday during the second ODI at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban. After the Pakistani batting order was totaled at 205 within 46 overs, it seemed like a cake walk for the South African batsmen to get over this below-average target but faced some early trouble as their openers Hashim Amla and Reeza Hendricks were sent back for cheap. While Rassie van der Dussen's 80-run performance at one-down was of huge significance, it was Phehlukwayo, who like a brick-wall, was glued to the pitch, determined to win this one for his side. Frustrated as the Pak bowlers were unable to get Phehlukwayo out, Ahmed let out a comment which would later get him into a lot of trouble. He said: "Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya padhwa ke aaye hai aaj?". (Hey black guy, where's your mother sitting today? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?) Sarfaraz Ahmed to Andile Phehlukwayo: "abbay kaale teri Ami kahan bethi hoyi hain aaj, kya parhwa kay aya hai aaj" "black man wheres your mother sat? What have you asked your mother to pray for you today?"#SAvPAK pic.twitter.com/vw6yuE73OE — Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) January 22, 2019 Not that Phehlukwayo was able to understand what Ahmed said, but as fate had it, his racially motivated taunt got picked up by the stump mics and was immediately brought to shame by the Twitter world. Sarfraz Ahmed should be punished by @ICC @TheRealPCB for his raciast comments against South African Player — Farooq Murtaza (@farooqmurtaza1) January 22, 2019 Sarfraz Ahmed is nothing more than just another sorry excuse for a Kaptaan. 17. Indian Women's National Cricket T20I team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur was named the captain of the ICC World T20 Team of the year. Fellow Women in Blue, Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Yadav were also voted to be in the ICC World T20 and ODI squads. As an annual honorary ritual, the International Cricket Council (ICC) votes upon some of the best performers of the year, from all around the world, to form titular teams to acknowledge their outstanding achievements. Last year, making the cut were Indian ODI captain Mithali Raj (ODI), Ekta Bist (ODI and T20) and Harmanpreet Kaur (T20). This year, however, things have been a lot better for the Indian T20I skipper as Kaur has improved on an already impressive career, especially during the ICC Women's World T20 2018 when she led her team to the semifinals. "In that tournament, (Harmanpreet) Kaur scored 183 runs at a strike-rate of 160.5, while in the 25 matches in the calendar year, she accumulated 663 runs at a strike-rate of 126.2. 18. We all knew Captain Marvel was the last resort and also the last saving grace for the Avengers, when a disintegrating Nick Fury 'paged' her in the end credits of 'Infinity War'. Her importance in the upcoming 'Avengers: Endgame' shot by leaps and bounds following the incredible trailer of 'Captain Marvel', where we got a fair sense of what she is capable of – which is basically mind-blowing, boundless power. Even though I have been following Captain Marvel for a long time through comic books, and am fully aware of her powers, I can't help but confess that I was a wee bit doubtful if she would be of any help at all. Especially with Thanos now in possession of all the Infinity Gems- Soul Stone, Reality Stone, Mind Stone, Space Stone, Time Stone and Power Stone. However, Brie Larson, who is playing Captain Marvel just said something insanely awesome to put my doubts to rest and also confirmed that she is definitely going to bring the pain right to Thanos' doorstep. In an interview to TNT Brasil, when asked that even though Captain Marvel was among the strongest superheroes in the Marvel Universe, Thanos could probably give her a run for her money, Larson simply shrugged and said with a nonchalant expression, “he looks kinda shrimpy to me.” OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! MIC DROP!!!! Look at that face! Look at the confidence! That's the face of someone who KNOWS she is gonna kick some purple ass! Look at the choice of her words. 'Shrimpy'! I mean, come on. This is Thanos we are talking about. The dude who single-handedly wiped off like half of the MCU. Even Thor's Stormbreaker had zero effect on Thanos when the axe was embedded in his freaking chest (why didn't you go for the head? Goddamnit Thor!) So, given Larson's statement, I have no trouble believing she has something seriously terrible planned for the Mad Titan and is probably just counting the days for her encounter with 'shrimpy'. What do you guys think? Captain Marvel can take on Thanos? Or, is she also going to turn to crumbs? Let us know in the comment section.
  19. Ahead of their much-anticipated tour of Australia, the Indian cricket team knew they had a potential chance of creating history Down Under. While they were heavily favoured in the limited-overs series, the biggest test for the visiting side was undoubtedly the Tests where the hostile conditions posed a major threat for the Indian cricketers. But, contrary to popular perception, the Indian team put their best foot forward in the first Test and showed everyone why they are the No. 1 side in the longest version of the game. Showcasing great temperament and maturity, the visitors checked all the boxes in what eventually turned into a brilliant 31-run win at the Adelaide Oval. If the batsmen appeared responsible against the Aussies, the bowlers showcased versatility as the game progressed through the days. It's needless to say that the Indian side looked convincing in almost every session over a span of five days to eventually script a memorable win. And, as India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, skipper Virat Kohli, too, etched his name in the history books. © AP For a man who has witnessed a marauding run this year, Kohli couldn't do much with the willow as he managed to score just 3 & 34 across two innings. But, even if his bat couldn't breathe fire, Kohli, with his impeccable leadership skills, still clinched the unique feat of becoming the first-ever Asian captain to win a Test match in at least South Africa, England and Australia. Kohli-led India, that also became the first Indian side to win an opening Test in a series on the Australian soil, started the year on a promising note when they toured the Proteas. Despite losing the first two Tests in Centurion and Cape Town, the out-of-sorts Kohli brigade made a noticeable comeback and went on to win the third game at Johannesburg. Their next big stop was then in England where Kohli had witnessed a dismal outing back in 2014. As many would have anticipated, India began the Test series poorly, losing the first two games. But, as witnessed in South Africa, the Indian team bounced back in the third Test at Nottingham where an emphatic 203-run win once again proved what this side was capable of. Though Kohli's men lost the Test series 4-1, their outing in English conditions was still far better than those of their predecessors. © Reuters Apart from his team, Kohli himself had a brilliant run in both South Africa and England. Proving his class against the Proteas, Kohli emerged as the highest run-getter amongst the two sides in the Test series, scoring 286 runs in 6 innings at an average of 47.67. In England, Kohli silenced his naysayers by scoring 593 runs in 10 innings at a brilliant average of 59.30, showing how far he has come since his forgettable outing last time around. Though there are still three more Tests to go Down Under and Australia, despite the absence of their stalwarts Steve Smith and David Warner, still pose threat to India, the Kohli brigade, for now, can bask in the glory of a brilliant team effort that has allowed them to take a crucial 1-0 lead in what promises to be an exciting series.
  20. After giving us some brilliant films like 'Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran' and 'Satyameva Jayate', actor John Abraham is back in action and gearing up to kick some balls (quite literally) on the big screen. In this list of upcoming sports biopics, let's add another exceptional movie that has the potential to beat every other big release of 2019. The movie is based on the iconic 1911 football match that rewrote the Indian sports history. Wikimedia Reportedly, John has roped in Nikkhil Advani to direct this film, where he will play the role of Shibdas Bhaduri, captain of the Mohun Bagan team. After 'Gold' this will be another sports biopic set in the pre-independence era. Nikkhil thanked John on social media for this opportunity and wrote, "Totally honoured that John Abraham entrusted me to tell the story of 1911. The film will also touch base with how the match played a crucial role in India's freedom struggle. John had earlier mentioned in interviews that he might cast some real footballers in the movie. Nikkhil Advani and John Abraham are currently working together on the upcoming movie 'Batla House' where he plays a cop. '1911' will reportedly go on floors in November 2019 and will be shot in Kolkata and is expected to release in 2020. 21. Mahendra Singh Dhoni needs no introduction. Neither is there a need to mention why his fans love him so much and continue to call him 'Captain Cool' till this day. He is one of the coolest and remarkable cricketers whose ideologies and charm rub off on his teammates too. From sleeping on the field during a match, to pulling over his car to meet a young fan; Dhoni's fans love him for his down-to-earth attitude and after learning that he once drove a bus after being appointed Test captain, we can't help but agree with it more. Reuters Reportedly, former Indian batsman VVS Laxman recently revealed in his autobiography '281 and Beyond' that back in 2008, Dhoni himself drove the team bus to the hotel. It was Laxman's 100th test and Anil Kumble had announced his retirement from cricket, making Dhoni the 'Test in charge'. Reuters He wrote, "One of my abiding memories is of MS (Dhoni) driving the team bus to the hotel in Nagpur, during my 100th Test. I couldn't believe my eyes — the captain of the team driving us back from the ground! It was his first Test in charge after Anil's (Kumble) retirement, and he didn't seem to have a care in the world. But he was like that, playful and grounded. MS never lost the joy, the playfulness. I have never met anyone quite like him." Reuters Laxman further revealed that Dhoni always remained calm and was never agitated even when the team wasn't performing well. Talking about his calm, he wrote, "MS Dhoni's calmness and equanimity are legendary. He had seen nothing but success until the tour of England in 2011. We had lost 4–0 in England and had already lost the first three Tests in Australia by the end of that year, and were heading for another whitewash." He further mentioned, "I was a mess, as were most of the guys, but MS was unbelievably composed. Not once did he lash out, and at no stage did he give the impression that he was frustrated or helpless." Probably, it's this calm and composed nature of his that sets him apart from his fellow players. After all, there's a reason why his fans call him 'Captain Cool'.
  22. For a country that boasts of a little over 4 million in population, Ireland undoubtedly packs a punch when it comes to sports. The small-but-proud nation has given the sporting world many stars including the likes of Conor McGregor in UFC, Rory McIlroy in golf and Roy Keane in football. While the nation has established itself in many sports, Ireland is also taking huge strides in international cricket. Their women's cricket team is currently slugging it out in the ICC World T20 in West Indies. But, things haven't been going the way Irish fans would have expected. Plying their trade in Group B, the Irish side was massacred by Australia in their opening game, where they suffered a massive nine-wicket loss. Eager to bounce back in the tournament, Ireland, then, ran into Pakistan in their second match. A three-wicket haul by Lucy O'Reilly restricted Javeria Khan-led team to 139 runs, allowing the Irish fans to dream on for a win. But a mediocre batting performance eventually spelt the doom for Ireland. © Twitter/@WorldT20 In a game that Ireland probably fancied winning, Pakistan held their nerve to notch up a 38-run win. Clearly, the Irish cricketers and their fans were left disappointed - something that was in full display during the post-match press conference. Talking to the reporters after the game, Ireland skipper Laura Delany broke down in tears while expressing her frustration over their dismal batting show. "If we were professional I wonder what the score would have been out there today to lose the match by 40 runs," the 25-year-old said. "If we were professional I wonder what the score would have been out there."@IrishWomensCric's captain Laura Delany was understandably quite emotional after her team's loss to Pakistan. Watchð pic.twitter.com/25tjIeMMOR — ICC World Twenty20 (@WorldT20) November 14, 2018 “I think 120-130 would be par on this wicket, unfortunately, we didn't have enough partnerships in the middle and that cost us the game,” the Ireland captain added. A brief video of her media interaction was shared by the official Twitter handle of the ICC World T20 and it was great to see the cricket fraternity and fans across the globe consoling the teary-eyed cricketer. Should be proud of what you guys achieve. Punch well above your weight constantly! — Alyssa Healy (@ahealy77) November 14, 2018 Genuine love! Let me reciprocate the beautiful gesture. We in Pakistan saw the match & as we cheered for our team we also commend your efforts. Already enough has been lodged onto a woman's life in today's world. We wish more strength, humbleness and gratitude to you all.#WT20 — Hassan Arshad (@HassanA46409700) November 14, 2018 This is what sucks about a majority of women's sports. There is a HUGE disparity between funding/sponsors from country to country, so it really is elite/professional vs amateur. Keep fighting the good fight ðªð¼ — Georgie Parker (@georgieparker) November 14, 2018 Not all defeats are a loss! You ladies were sensational to watch and you should be proud of yourselves. Don't question your professionalism, you already have it! You truly will be an inspiration to girls of Ireland. Hold your heads up high and keep going :) — Lady Owl (@house_owl) November 14, 2018 Good to see her show such emotion, it shows how much Laura cares and what it means to her and the team, I hope they get the funding they need to become full time pro's, they deserve to compete on equal terms to the other teams. — JC (@jscblarblar) November 14, 2018 They have match Day tomorrow against India Plz Be strong Lady we are already proud of Each one of U Every single woman Participating in this world No matter which country they are from Nd We Love Ur Passion Hard Luck — Syed Rizvi (@SyedRiz46367215) November 14, 2018 Well said @lauradel14 . There definitely needs to be investment by @ICC and all country governing bodies to make women's cricket a fully professional sport. There was some very talented players on display last night that would massively benefit from the sport being professional. — Simon Oliver (@RedskinsUK21) November 14, 2018 @lauradel14 take pride in what you've achieved against the odds. Your dedication alone to the sport is second to none and that win is only around the corner. You have to continue to believe in yourselves - we believe in you. #Believe ðð — Mary B (@owensyb) November 14, 2018 More strength to you girls! Indeed disappointing to lose, but should be proud of the improvements in the performance! — Varun (@varunsachi) November 14, 2018 @IrishWomensCric every tiny step is a milestone in itself when we're starting a long journey. You're already an inspiration to a whole generation. Winning and losing is part of the whole process and not the end. Chin up y'all, you have a long way to go. All the best ðð¼ — Aditya Nath (@adityanath81) November 15, 2018 Watching all the women's teams is really great. I think that the women's game has added a lot the cricket over the years. In recent times you're getting girls into the game at a younger age. 23. While we're still lucky to get to see Chris Evans as Captain America on the big screen one more time, the actor has officially retired from playing this iconic character. It was a sad day for all of us when he tweeted an emotional tribute to Cap. Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful. — Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) October 4, 2018 Now, Chris has also opened up about what his last day on set was like, so yeah, it's final, he really will be gone after 'Avengers 4'. Talking about his last day on set, he said, “That last day of filming really was a very emotional day. It was the culmination of almost 10 years of filming and 22 movies — this unbelievable tapestry — and you feel a lot more emotions than I think even I thought I'd feel, and I felt it was appropriate to share the gratitude. I know it had a ripple effect, but I am neither confirming nor denying anything.” He has played this amazing character for years but turns out, his final scene as Cap was nothing special. It was a reshoot, some minor scene that needed fixing. That's a little disappointing but it's okay; I'm sure he has so many more memories playing the character that will stay with him always. He even went on to say his last line was not that proud of a moment. He said, “It was something really stupid, it was something really dumb. Which I also probably can't give away. Well, you know, it was reshoots, so you're doing these little picks and pops, and it's just little things that they need. It might have been a line to Paul Rudd. He wasn't there, but it was a stupid line. The line wasn't memorable to me [laughs]. The day was more memorable than the line.” Well, it still sounds exciting to me! We should all try to figure out which line it was when the movie is finally out next year. Also, I'm just going to leave this here. chris evans on his first day on set and on his last shoot ð pic.twitter.com/KMEkztvcI8 — captain* (@iamgeekingout) October 13, 2018 Coming back to Chris' tweet, he promised everyone he did not, in any way, give away any spoilers. Yes people, he's not Mark Ruffalo or Tom Holland, he's a part of the small group of actors who get the entire script beforehand. Let's all begin preparing for Captain America making his last appearance in MCU now. Goodbye Cap, we'll miss you!
  24. All good things come to an end, that's the rule of life, even if we don't want it that way. Excuse us for getting all sentimental, but we have good enough reason. Chris Evans, who has been an integral part of Marvel, has announced his departure from the franchise. It's beyond difficult to imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe without Captain America, but his exit from the world of superhero movies was inevitable. We had expected Steve Rogers to die in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and were kind of prepared for it (not really), but Marvel pulled one on us and killed everyone except for the OG Avengers. But now that 'Avengers 4' has wrapped up shooting, it's finally getting real that this will be the last movie with a lot of our favourite characters. Fans can't help but get a lump in their throats. Chris Evans' heartfelt tweet isn't helping with all the feels right now either. Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Eternally grateful. — Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) October 4, 2018 *Alexa play a sad song* After going through all the stages of grief, fans finally reached acceptance and showed their appreciation for Chris on Twitter, thanking him for making MCU what it is. always in my heart @ChrisEvans yours sincerely, everyone #ThankYouChrisEvans pic.twitter.com/sYiw9TcVIX — gaberela (@hiddlescarter) October 4, 2018 All of us, tbh. my heart after your tweet...
