  1. Parthiv Patel was all over the news after he revealed a chat he had with former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli regarding India pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Parthiv had claimed that when he was a part of the RCB camp he had asked Kohli to have a close look at Bumrah but the then RCB skipper didn't seem interested. Interestingly, Bumrah made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Mumbai Indians against Kohli's RCB and even picked up three wickets. Despite that success, when Parthiv, who has known Bumrah since his first-class debut, asked Kohli to check out the young pacer after a year, the former India skipper was still sceptical about his abilities with the ball. His reply was ‘chor yaar ye Bumrah Vumrah kya karenge’,” Patel said on a Cricbuzz show. Soon after Parthiv said this, fans on social media called him out and expressed their anger on social media. The former India wicket-keeper batter, late on Monday (March 28), took to Twitter to post a cryptic tweet that many felt was targeted towards the trolls as Parthiv backed his claim about the personal chat with Kohli with 'Neem patta' reference. "Neem patta aur sach dono kadwa hai! (Neem leaf and truth both are bitter)," Parthiv tweeted. neem patta aur sach dono kadwa hai! — parthiv patel (@parthiv9) March 28, 2022 However, this tweet further angered fans as they questioned his eight-year-long silence. One of the main reasons behind this is his unusual bowling action that made many including the former skipper sceptical about his longevity. Fortunately for Indian cricket, Bumrah worked hard on his fitness and his skills and has now become the number one bowler in the country across formats. View this post on Instagram The 28-year-old pacer is the only Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul in all five continents in the world. His unique ability to bowl yorkers at will makes him one of the most fearsome bowlers in world cricket. Kohli maybe wasn't sure about Bumrah in his early days but during his nine-year-long tenure as India skipper, the Gujarat pacer was Kohli's go-to bowler across formats. View the full article
  2. Virat Kohli’s press conference on Wednesday has created a huge controversy in Indian cricket, putting him and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly at loggerheads. While responding to why Kohli was removed from the ODI captaincy despite his stellar record, Ganguly had claimed that the selector didn’t want to have two different captains in the limited-overs cricket. He had also claimed that he had “personally requested” Kohli not to step down from the T20I job in September. This is getting serious between virat kohli and dada Both have opposite words Definitely not a good sign for indian cricket.#BCCI pic.twitter.com/9owZ3jnnBC — Frozen (@ein_scofield) December 15, 2021 However, Kohli refuted having any such conversation with the former India skipper and said that there was no prior communication from the BCCI office bearers or the selectors with regards to the change in ODI captaincy. The Delhi cricketer even claimed that the first time he was informed that his services as ODI skipper would no longer be required was one-and-a-half hours before the selection committee meeting. © Twitter BCCI As per Kohli’s, the chief selector Chetan Sharma had called primarily to discuss with him the Test squad for the South Africa tour and before hanging up the call he was informed that all five selectors had decided that he would not be leading the side in the ODIs anymore. This contradictory statement from the Indian Test skipper has raised many eyebrows and everyone is trying to fathom how Ganguly, who is such an important figure in Indian cricket, can make such a false claim, on not one but multiple occasions. © Twitter BCCI Kohli’s comments have sent shockwaves in the entire Indian cricket community and if reports are to be believed even the BCCI officials are unhappy with the Indian red-ball skipper after his explosive press conference. #NewsAlert | BCCI Vs Virat Kohli: #BCCI now claims that the decision on captaincy was a collective decision and #ViratKohli was kept in the loop. Kohli says that there was no communication from BCCI regarding his captaincy change. Aruneel with more details. pic.twitter.com/i4wvP0zL44 — TIMES NOW (@TimesNow) December 16, 2021 According to a report in Times Now, despite Kohli directly contradicting Ganguly, the BCCI still maintains that it was a ‘collective decision’ and they had kept the former ODI skipper in the loop from the very beginning. “A change in captaincy is not a small decision and Virat Kohli was kept in loop before the decision was made,” Times Now reported, quoting BCCI sources. © Twitter BCCI After creating a massive uproar, Kohli and his boys have embarked on a new challenge and it would be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming days here in India. Whether the BCCI top brass tries to play down this whole issue by discarding it as a mere misunderstanding or Ganguly & Co. escalate things even more. Whatever the case may be, we just hope that it doesn’t affect the team’s performance in South Africa. View the full article
  3. Harsha Bhogle, also known as the Voice of Cricket, is one of the most popular cricket commentators out there and fans were expecting him to lend his voice to the upcoming World Test Championship final in England. To their disappointment, Bhogle’s name was not mentioned in the eight-member commentary panel for the high octane clash and everyone wondered why such a big name was not there on the roster of probably the biggest Test match ever. © Reuters While the reason for Bhogle’s absence was unknown at the time, a news website published an article claiming that he was 'snubbed' for the job, with Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik being the only Indians on the panel, which also includes the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Ian Bishop, Nasser Hussain, Simon Doull, Isa Guha, Michael Atherton and Craig Macmillan. View this post on Instagram In a series of tweets, Bhogle then called out the media outlet for publishing 'fake news' about him, without knowing the real reason why he was not a part of the commentary panel. Do you want to delete this? Because it is untrue. Or are you comfortable with that? https://t.co/dVcyMpUTmr — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 15, 2021The headline? https://t.co/UUaJwSMNVx — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 15, 2021Taking to Twitter, Bhogle also clarified the reason why he pulled out of the mega clash, saying it was because it required him to be away for 27-28 days for just one match. “I was hoping to be in Southampton this week for the #WTCFinals. But quarantine requirements meant I would have to be away for 27-28 days for one game. I have spent a lot of time in bubbles and there are more ahead. I am enjoying being home and so, regretfully, had to pull out,” Bhogle wrote on the micro-blogging site. I was hoping to be in Southampton this week for the #WTCFinals. The fans also said that they weren’t surprised with such an article on the website. What can we expect from a channel whose whole existence depends on demeaning one and raising up the other! 6. KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar on Saturday held the government of Sindh responsible for deteriorating law and order situation and police high-handedness in the provincial capital. Talking to newsmen here after an anti-terrorism court hearing, Sattar said the government has never consulted leader of the opposition in the provincial assembly or Karachi mayor before taking important decisions, including operations, in the city. The government?s lack of interest in taking all stakeholders onboard is the reason provincial institutions, including the police, are in shambles, the MQM-P chief said. ?Halting the salaries of police officials would achieve nothing, otherwise salary of chief minister Sindh should be halted first,? he said. A debate on extra-judicial killings stirred up in Karachi once again when police claimed a young man Naqeebullah killed in an alleged encounter was a terrorist. The man was subsequently declared innocent by an investigation committee and recommended the government to remove SSP Rao Anwar, who carried out the alleged encounter.
  7. Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu arrives at a meeting to discuss the Rohingya situation during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, U.S. September 18, 2017. REUTERS/file ANKARA/ISTANBUL: Turkey criticized what it said was a feeble Arab reaction to the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel?s capital, saying on the eve of Wednesday?s Muslim summit in Istanbul that some Arab countries were scared of angering Washington. President Tayyip Erdogan, who has accused the United States of ignoring Palestinian claims to Israeli-occupied east Jerusalem and ?trampling on international law?, has invited leaders from more than 50 Muslim countries to agree a response. Jerusalem, revered by Jews, Christians and Muslims alike, is home to Islam?s third holiest site and has been at the heart of Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades. US President Donald Trump?s announcement last week recognizing the city as Israel?s capital angered many Muslim countries, but few governments have matched Turkey?s warning that it would plunge the world ?into a fire with no end?. Several countries had still not said who they would send to Istanbul, a Turkish minister said. ?Some Arab countries have shown very weak responses (on Jerusalem),? Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said. ?It seems some countries are very timid of the United States.? He said Egypt and the United Arab Emirates would send foreign ministers while Saudi Arabia had yet to say how it would participate. All three countries have delicate ties with Turkey, seeing links between the policies of Erdogan?s ruling AK Party and regional movements they oppose. Other countries had also not said who they would send, Cavusoglu said, adding that the meeting of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries must stand up to what he called Washington?s ?I am a super power, I can do anything? mentality. ?We will make a call for countries that have so far not recognized Palestine to do so now,? he said. ?...We want the United States to turn back from its mistake.? Protests and clashes Trump?s announcement triggered days of protests across the Muslim world and clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. Israel captured Arab East Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle East war and later annexed it, an action not recognized internationally. On Monday, tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Beirut to protest at a march backed by Hezbollah, the group whose leader called last week for a new Palestinian uprising against Israel. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who is expected to attend the Istanbul summit, said his country supported a new uprising against Israel to ?safeguard the Palestinian people?s rights?. Rouhani said Muslim countries would ?undoubtedly voice their protest to the world? at Wednesday?s meeting. Iranian Defence Minister Amir Hatami said Trump?s decision would strengthen Israel, and accused some Muslim states of cooperating covertly with the Israeli government. ?We strongly believe that this decision is the result of interaction between Israel and some Muslim countries,? he told his Turkish counterpart in a telephone call on Tuesday, Iran?s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported. Qassem Soleimani, head of the branch of the Revolutionary Guards that oversees operations outside Iran, pledged ?complete support for Palestinian resistance movements? on Monday. The Trump administration says it remains committed to reaching peace between Israel and the Palestinians and its decision does not affect Jerusalem?s future borders or status. It says any credible future peace deal will place the Israeli capital in Jerusalem, and ditching old policies is needed to revive a peace process frozen since 2014.
