  1. Here's a little story of instant karma that will make anyone laugh, mainly because it looks like something straight out of a Bollywood movie. To sum it up, two robbers were trying to get away after stealing about Rs 40 lakh from an ATM in Noida but ended up falling off their bike. If that wasn't bad enough, the onlookers ended up stealing the money they just stole from the ATM. It all went down at around 1:30 pm, when the custodians from a cash refilling agency reached the State Bank of India ATM in Sector 82, under Noida's Phase 2 police station limits, to replenish the cash. Pretty normal, right? Nothing out of the ordinary. But, the problem started as soon as officials stepped out of the cash van as two guys got off their bike and opened fire. Then they managed to grab the bag which contained approximately Rs 40 lakh in cash and ran away. Till this point, everything seemed pretty serious but the fun part is coming up. A police spokesperson said, “While trying to get away, their speeding motorcycle collided with another vehicle and the robbers fell down. At this point, the bag filled with cash opened and hundreds of currency notes were scattered across the road.” And obviously, where there's money, there are people ready to try and grab what they can. A lot of onlookers picked up money and walked away, because what else are they going to do. Don't worry, the robbers' bad luck doesn't end there as they were also arrested. The spokesperson said, “The arrested accused has been identified as Nannhe, a native of adjoining Bulandshahr district, and a bag with Rs 19.65 lakh was seized from him.” So, what this means is that the people basically got away with taking about Rs 20 lakh cash. I have no words.
  2. Let's talk about sports and grooming going hand in hand for a second. Sports is an intense field and if you engage with it, it leaves you all sweaty and messed up. However, some men know how to clean up well even on the field and even after a long and tiresome match they still look on point. So here is list of Indian sports men that really know their grooming men. 1. Ishant Sharma © Getty Images While Ishant Sharma might have been punished for having long hair in school, he's really turned it around as an adult. His shoulder length mane adds a certain character to his personality. Imagine Ishant Sharma without this hair! Well, we can't either. 2. Virat Kohli © Getty Images Not that Virat Kohli didn't look great before his days with Anushka Sharma, but we feel since she has stepped into his life, he's really understood the importance of grooming, maintaining the perfect hairstyle and a beard style that looks like a million bucks on him. 3. Hardik Pandya © Getty Images Now, we know that he's received a lot of flak recently for his controversial 'Koffee With Karan' comments, however the guy does clean up well. We can't really question that, can we? 4. Sunil Chhetri © Getty Images Apart from being the striker/winger and captains for both the Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC and the Indian national football team, Sunil Chhetri also sports a stunning haircut. 5. Sandesh Jhingan © Getty Images Sandesh Jhingan is the defender for Kerala Blasters FC of the Indian Super League and the Indian football team. He is a good example of showing that even messy hair can look really good if you're comfortable in your skin. 6. K.L.Rahul © MensXP K.L Rahul is another cricketer we wish we got grooming lessons from. His look is very cleverly put together, so it looks effortless and clean.
  3. Lionel Messi has achieved everything there is to achieve on a club-football level. The Barcelona FC star has not only brought his club to the fore on innumerable occasions but also has made a name for himself, in doing so, as arguably the best player in the game in our generation. His greatness at Camp Nou is rock solid and unquestionable. However, the only stain, and a big one at that, on Messi's illustrious career is that of the lack of success on the international level for his country of Argentina. After losing in the Copa America final for four years, the last being in 2016 which also led to him officially retire from the international scenario out of the sheer exasperation, the Argentinian faced his latest disappointment during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in which his side was eliminated by France, who went on to win the tournament, in the Round of 16. © Reuters The World Cup loss last year left a real scar on Messi who went AWOL on the team and has been on sabbatical ever since. What irks the supporters of Messi's national team is the fact that he showed no interest in returning until the current President of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Tapia dropped an easter egg of sorts, on the legend's return in the blue and white. While the star himself has not officially made a statement on playing the 2019 Copa America in June but Team Argentina's interim coach, Lionel Scaloni believes that Messi will come out of this self-inflicted banishment in as early as March. "We will speak with Leo in the days before the March list. When the time is right we will speak," Scaloni told the local reporters as reported by The Times Of India. "I hope he can be here but more than that, we want him to be happy. I have a good feeling." Lionel Messi will be touching 32 years of age by the time Copa America commences. That's a lot of miles put on Leo's legs. With age catching up on him like it does to every other athlete, Messi realises that he needs to take care of his body and choose his games carefully.
  4. Apple's AirPod wireless headphones have been one of the firm's most successful products - and a much anticipated new version is in the works and expected to be launched in the first half of 2019. Patent filings suggest the company is pretty much ready with the design and mass production is just around the corner. Reports by DigiTimes and 9To5Mac indicate the new AirPods 2 are just on the way. Up till now, we've barely heard about the second generation earbuds and many expected Apple to launch them last year. According to 9To5Mac, a "Hey Siri" configuration tool found in Apple's latest iOS 12.2 beta suggests the new AirPods are coming soon. © 9To5Mac If Siri setup has AirPods inclusion, it means the second generation AirPods could bring in "Hey Siri" functionality. In this case, the audio processing shall be done by the AirPods itself, and not the connected iPhone. The new AirPods are expected to have a heart rate sensor, enabling tracking of fitness activities. Since the launch of the Apple Watch, the company has increased its focus on health tracking and slowly started integrating everything in the Health SDK. © Apple "If you zoom out into the future and you look back and you ask the question: 'What was Apple's greatest contribution to mankind?' It will be about health," Tim Cook said in a recent interview to CNBC. According to a fairly old report from Bloomberg, the new pair of earbuds are also going to be waterproof and house better Bluetooth connectivity than their predecessors, thanks to the inclusion of the W2 chip. The same chipset has also been used onboard the Apple Watch Series 3. © Apple Lastly, the AirPods 2 are expected to have wireless charging capabilities. Since the launch of the iPhone 8, Apple has committed itself to going completely wireless. Though, the company still hasn't been able to launch the AirPower mat that can charge multiple devices at once. Rumours suggest the brand could finally launch the AirPower mat along with the AirPods 2. Keep in mind, much of this is speculation and based on informal reports. There has been no official confirmation from Apple about the AirPods 2 development.
  5. Instead of the Avengers assembling, this time we had a pure moment of Marvel fans assembling to make a dying man's wish come true. A 33-year-old Marvel fan from Australia named Alexander is suffering from liver cancer, mouth cancer, and the rare genetic disease Fanconi anaemia which affects the bone marrow, and he thinks he could die before the official release of the movie 'Avengers: Endgame'. Being a huge fan, he decided to try his luck and asked people to help him get an early screening of the movie with a post on Reddit. But, he also noted he's “not a child or anyone with a particularly tragic story”, just a normal guy. He thought he would make it to April, but his “bone marrow is toast”. It's good to see that even with so much happening, Alexander hasn't lost his sense of humour since the Reddit thread is called “Dying Before April: My Endgame”. Obviously, anyone would do anything to catch an early screening of one of the most awaited movies, but this is a special case and all the Marvel fans united to get Marvel and Disney to take notice. The internet came together and the hashtag #Avengers4Alexander spread on Twitter. With an update on the original post, he informed everyone that even apparently Chris Hemsworth, God of Thunder himself is aware of the situation because “Australia is a small place, turns out I know a guy who knows a guy who is chums with Chris Hemsworth”. With so many well wishes coming his way, he also wrote, “I don't know what the outcome will be but this has been amazing. If it doesn't pan out don't sweat it - I'll carry your kind words with me and that's worth far more.” He also took a cheeky shot and said, “Lastly, I don't mean to be greedy but since I'm triple dying can we throw Captain Marvel into the mix?” With this request, he also shared a picture of his dog as a bribe. And then, it finally happened, Disney reached out to him and the whole thing turned into one of the those rare, beautiful internet moments where everyone works together. Sharing the exciting news, his last update on the Reddit post is - “Disney have reached out and we are discussing options. I cried when I read their email. It's everything I hoped for and I owe it to all of you.” People on Twitter are also very excited about his wish come true and have nothing but appreciation for everyone who held make it happen. A man will get his dying wish fulfilled. Thanks to the beautiful internet. 10 years back this wouldn't have been possible. This is some good stuff that we have achieved.https://t.co/xacO9U6KKc#avengers4alexander#avengersforalexander#AvengersEndGame #10yearchallenge — Anuj Godase (@dahelmetguy) January 19, 2019 Sometimes, it is. 6. Indian wicket-keeper and batsman, Rishabh Pant was one of the star performers for the Indian side during the 4-game Test series against Australia. With a big-time performance in the first innings of the Sydney Test, Pant, with his 159* runs, has put the Indian cricket team selectors in bewilderment in deciding the final roster for the 2019 ICC World Cup tournament, that is to be held in England and Wales between 30th May and 14th July. 150 runs for @RishabPant777 ððð#TeamIndia 616/6#AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/vZFY9hunBL — BCCI (@BCCI) January 4, 2019 On Wednesday, the Cricket Club of India was buzzing with celebratory cheers on the occasion of Indian legend Kapil Dev's 60th Birthday when former Team India player Farokh Engineer bounced, what is probably the most important question of the hour, at the team selectors: “Would you pick Dhoni for the World Cup? How can you drop Pant? He has done so well,” bombarded Engineer. When it comes to ODIs, Pant's opportunity to play for the team has been taken away either by MS Dhoni or Dinesh Kartik on multiple occasions. Even when the 21-year-old did get a chance to play against the Windies in a three-game series last year, Pant didn't face a lot of balls to prove his worth as a batsman and got out early. In an odd complexity of misfortune, Pant is stuck in a unique juxtaposition between “not experienced enough” and “not given enough time to gain experience.” Ironically, the thing that makes Pant so impressive in the eyes of the Indian cricket fans may also be the bane of his World Cup chances, and that's his age. With Dhoni and Kartik, both healthy and ready to get in action, probably the most common argument Pant would hear would be how young he is and how he will have many more World Cups to take part in, as he grows older and wiser. India have MS Dhoni ahead of Pant for the ODI series. pic.twitter.com/XvGwLSg5zM — Dennis Pucovski (@DennisCricket_) January 4, 2019 Despite chief selector MSK Prasad ensuring that Pant was one of the key contenders for a spot in the 2019 World Cup roster, he was not selected for the three-game ODI series against Australia or the five-game series against New Zealand which follows. Having said that, Pant has been selected to be a part of India A for the five-game series against the England Lions. If things are considered on a priority basis, Pant's very little experience in the 50-over format of the game, no matter how hapless, makes for a solid case for him to miss out on this year's World Cup.

  8. Arguably two of the greatest footballers of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi share a rivalry like no other in international football. The sport has seen many superstars over the ages, but the decade-long reign of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is arguably something that's going to last in our memories for a really long time. The two footballing greats have made the sport their own playing arena and the fact that they have won a record five Ballon d'Ors, goes on to show how dominant they have been in the last decade. The duel for football's top individual award began in 2008 when Ronaldo pipped Messi to bag his first Ballon d'Or. However, Messi staged a spectacular comeback a year later and went on to bag the coveted award for four successive years. Then, Ronaldo bounced back to clinch the prestigious award in 2013 and 2014 before Messi took his tally to a record five Ballon d'Or wins in 2015. While many ruled the Portuguese out of the race, Ronaldo stunned everyone by bagging the award in 2016 and 2017, once again proving he's second to none. © Reuters But, a lot has changed since Ronaldo won the award last year. His domination at the Ballon d'Or with Messi has come to an end with Luka Modric winning this year's award. Ronaldo has swapped Real Madrid for Juventus and La Liga for Serie A. And, the rare sight of Ronaldo and Messi featuring as rivals on the pitch is now restricted to UEFA Champions League (in club football). Ronaldo's move to Italy also means that Messi is now the sole king of the Spanish league, plying his trade with Barcelona. But, the football fans, who've cherished their rivalry over the years, surely got excited when the Portugal international urged his long-time rival to challenge himself by playing in Italy. Talking to the Italian press, Ronaldo said: "I'd like him to come to Italy one day. I hope he accepts the challenge like me, but if he's happy there then I respect that". Asked if he missed the 31-year-old Argentine, who has spent his entire senior career at Barcelona, Ronaldo replied: "No, maybe it's him who misses me" © Reuters "I've played in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal and for my national team, while he's still in Spain. Maybe he needs me more. For me, life is a challenge, I like it and I like to make people happy. He's a fantastic player and a good guy, but I don't miss anything here. This is my new life and I'm happy. I left my comfort zone and took on this challenge here in Turin, everything has gone well, I've proven I'm still an incredible player," Ronaldo said. Following Real Madrid's Champions League title in the 2017/18 season, the 33-year-old Portuguese stunned everyone by claiming that he is ready to move away from Santiago Bernabeu. Later, he joined Juventus for a staggering $114 million. Since then, Ronaldo has scored 10 goals in 15 league games to help the Turin giants get off to a record start in the 2018/19 Serie A season.
  9. Building a PC can be a daunting task as you are always left confused with what you actually want. I had one goal set in my mind — build the ultimate gaming rig in my budget. Sure, this may seem like an overkill because of all the specs and components, but it's something I wanted to build at least once in my life. I visited Gamescom this year and saw Nvidia's RTX in action first-hand. That's when I decided I wanted to build myself a gaming PC that would surpass even my own expectations. I've been saving up for a PC for almost 3 years and I finally decided to take that plunge a month ago. I've been reviewing games on it and been checking out the RTX features on 'Battlefield V', but that's for another time. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla My goal was simple, build the ultimate gaming PC that could outrun the latest games without any lag and achieve the best frame rates possible. Parameters for the best gaming PC have now changed. Earlier it was all about the best frame rates. However, I also wanted to build a PC that was 4K ready and could stream my games on YouTube/Twitch with ease. I built this PC with the help of my friend who advised me about everything I need for my setup. Here's what we ended up building: 1. CPU: Intel i7-8700K (Rs 32,627) © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The CPU is probably where you should start when you try to build your own gaming rig. It's the most important component of your PC as it is responsible for putting together your entire build. We chose to get the Intel i7-8700K for our setup as Intel has been renowned for making some of the best CPUs for gaming. We could have chosen AMD's Ryzen platform instead. However, since I had my eyes set on the RTX 2080 Ti, it would not have served the purpose. 2. Asus ROG STRIX Z370E Gaming Motherboard (Rs 24,300) © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Choosing the right motherboard is probably the next big step you will have to take. The ROG STRIX Z370E is one of those high-end MOBOs that offer more than you could ask for. It has two ASM3142 controllers that separately provide Type-C and Type-A ports to the rear, and a USB 3.1 Gen2 at the front. It's a very clean motherboard that offers 2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8), 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (max at x4 mode), 4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1. It even supports NVIDIA 2-Way SLI Technology and AMD 3-Way CrossFireX Technology which we didn't take advantage of for this setup. For more detailed information about this motherboard, you can head over to ASUS website here. 3. G.Skill Trident Z 2x16GB RGB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM (Rs 26,271) © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla If you need the speed, you have to invest in a solid RAM as it will make your life easier when playing games. We opted to go with the G.Skill Trident 2x16GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM as it was perfect for our gaming needs. Apart from performing well, it also needed to look good and this particular RAM is equipped with an RGB lightbar. However, the G.Skill Trident Z refuses to run at that speed but was rock solid at 3000MHz which was more than enough for daily gaming. 4. Zotac GeForce RTX 2080Ti AMP (Rs 1,15,000) © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Investing in a proper graphics card can either make or break your experience. One needs to invest in a graphics card that is future proof and can run current games at ease without any frame rate drops. The Zotac GeForce RTX 2080Ti AMP has three fans which allow better cooling and overclocking. It's based on Nvidia's new Turing architecture that does a lot more than previous iterations. The Zotac RTX 2080 Ti AMP features 4,352 CUDA cores, 11GB of GDDR6 video memory, a memory clock of 14Gbps, and a stock boost clock of 1665MHz. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla It also offers Deep Learning Super Sampling or DLSS which basically loads the game into a neural network. AI then uses machine learning to produce a perfect version of the image. For more info about Nvidia's latest Turing architecture, you can read about it in detail here. 5. Corsair VS650 650 Watt Power Supply Unit (Rs 5,090) The power supply unit (PSU) is something you cannot ignore or want to save money on. With a setup like this, you will need a powerful PSU that doesn't burn up your expensive components. We chose the Corsair VS650 650 Watt PSU as it fits perfectly in our case and more importantly, can handle the amount of power our PC draws. 6. Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Rs 9,000) © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla When you're running a gaming PC with these specs, you will need a reliable CPU cooler that will keep everything cool. We first bought the Coolermaster Liquid 240 which turned out to be faulty as the temperature on our CPU was going up to 84 degrees on idle. We replaced it with another Liquid 240 CPU cooler that also turned out to be faulty and finally decided to go with the Corsair Hydro Series H100i. From personal experience, we can confidently say always test the components you buy. With the experience we had, we're never buying another Coolermaster product again. 7. Memory © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla With a gaming rig like this, you need to invest in an SSD as it keeps your machine running at top speed. It will help you boot your system faster and reduce loading times as well. Having said that, we aren't using the SSD for booting up games as we use it exclusively for booting up applications such as Photoshop, Premier Pro and Streamlabs OBS. Instead, we installed two 7200 RPM 4TB hard drives and coupled one of them with Intel's 32GB Optane memory. This is where we store all our games and it effectively runs as fast as the SSD with the added advantage of 4TB storage. . Samsung 970 EVO SSD 500GB (Rs 17,999) . 2XSeagate IronWolf 4TB 7200RPM HDD (Rs 16,500) . Intel Optane Memory 16GB PCIe M.2 (Rs 4,089) Peripherals © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse and the case are quite subjective and depend entirely on your budget and taste. The display also depends on what kind of refresh rate you require or whether you want to game in 4K resolution. So without getting into many details, here's what we are using for playing games on our setup: . CORSAIR K70 LUX Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Rs 11,880) . Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum RGB Tunable Gaming Mouse (Rs 5,995) . Acer 28 inch (71.12 cm) 4K Monitor (Rs 26,500) . Aorus Gigabyte AC300W R2 ATX Mid-Tower Case (Rs 4,000) . HyperX Cloud Revolver S Headset (Rs 11,500) So there you have it, our high-end gaming PC that's future-proof for the next three years. It may seem like an overkill; however, PC gamers always aspire to have the best and we tried to achieve that with this setup. You can always run down the cost by picking cheaper options. However, in our experience, it turned out to be a bust as two coolants of the same brand turned out to be faulty. If you need help in building a PC, you can always hit us up on social media and we may give you the best options for your budget.

  11. Losing fat isn't rocket science, but it sure does take a lot of heart and will to completely transform the body. Just like we keep the sugar coating away at MensXP Health, this article lists out 5 truths about a person's fat loss journey. 1) It Takes Time Heard the saying that good things take time? This holds especially true when it comes to dieting and achieving low levels of body fat. The process is not that quick. All those 6-weeks to shred or 12-week transformation programs do not really work. At least not in the long term! You may end up losing a lot of body fat during this time if you resort to extreme measures, but these so-called transformations won't stick. © Thinkstock 2) You Will Lose Some Of Your Lean Body Mass Not too good to read, I know. But as your diet progresses and you get leaner and leaner, some of your lean body mass will be lost. The speed of your fat loss will also determine lean body mass losses. The faster you try to strip your body fat/weight off, all the more lean body mass would be lost. That is because it is easier for your body to break down muscle tissue for energy when energy intake (calories) is severely restricted. 3) Your Energy Levels Will Be Lower As your caloric intake would be restricted, your body will do its best to save as much energy as it can. That is because your body sees your fat loss diet as a starvation signal and adapts accordingly. The survival mechanism will kick in and your body will reduce its energy expenditure both consciously and sub-consciously. This means, making you a bit lazier and subconsciously making decisions like taking the elevator instead of the stairs. Not moving from the chair for longer hours during work and so on. © Pixabay 4) There Will Be Progress Plateaus Getting to single digits of body fat is not smooth sailing. There will be periods of stalls and plateaus during your diet and these are the most testing periods. This will be the time, when you will be tested and will find yourself asking if it really is worth the effort? It will suck seeing those plateaus and your mental resolve will be tested to a very great extent during this phase. 5) Tracking Will Become All The More Important The measures that are relatively unimportant during the beginning of your fat loss journey will soon become all the more important as you keep progressing. Bodybuilding or achieving body fat levels of bodybuilders or physique athletes is hard. As you get leaner, all those tiny details like food measures to the accurate gram, cooking oil to the gram, tracking of calories, tracking of body weight, tracking of measurements, tracking of daily steps walked for your NEAT levels, etc. will hold a lot of importance. 12. We all grew up watching 'FRIENDS' and it never gets old. Every time you're in a dilemma about what to watch, or you just want to watch something while having dinner, or you simply need to zone out for some time, 'FRIENDS' is the answer. You can just start watching any random episode and it would never disappoint. Some of us have watched it so many times, that we can remember every single line from the show. But still, there are certain facts about the series which might still be unknown to you. Here are 10 interesting facts about the iconic show, that may come as a surprise to you: 1. Four Six © Warner Bros The main cast of 6 was initially meant to be of 4. In the early stages, Chandler & Phoebe were supposed to be just the supporting cast. Whatever the reason was to include these two in the main cast, we're glad it happened! 2. The Unfair Emmy Courteney Cox, aka Monica, was the only regular cast member who didn't get nominated for an Emmy. This was as bizarre as Joey-Rachel's relationship! 3. The 'Scientist Guy' Joey Hank Azaria, the guy who played the role of Phoebe's scientist boyfriend David, tried twice for the role of Joey. Thankfully, the casting team had a better taste and they chose Matt LeBlanc instead. 4. The Theme Song How many of you clap your hands along with the theme song? Initially, the theme song selected for the show was “Shiny Happy People” by REM. The show was named 'Friends Like Us' back then but eventually, it became F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and we got a new theme song with it. 5. The Gay Chandler Writers initially thought to make Chandler gay. In fact, when Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox read the script for the first time, they thought Chandler was gay. They even admitted thinking Chandler was gay on the show. 6. The Blunder Ellen DeGeneres turned down the role of Phoebe. Can you imagine? 7. Ross's Monkey © Warner Bros Marcel, the monkey, was actually played by two monkeys named Katie and Monkey. 8. Courteney Cox As Rachel? Producers offered Courteney the role of Rachel. But Courteney thought she was better suited for Monica, as she could easily relate to the character. 9. David Schwimmer, The Man! David Schwimmer was the first to be cast in the show. In fact, writers wrote the role of Ross keeping David in mind. Talk about popularity, eh? 10. Ross and Rachel WERE off the table The see-sawing romance of Ross & Rachel wasn't supposed to be the centre of the show. However, seeing their on-screen chemistry and the love of the audience for the couple, the show was developed in such a way, that their relationship was often under the spotlight. And that's how we got the iconic 'I got off the plane' dialogue! So, which one of these came as the biggest surprise for you? Was it Chandler originally being a gay character, or Courteney Cox being offered the role of Rachel? Let us know in the comment section.
  13. Nice guys don't always finish last, but if you're way too nice then there are chances you can come off as boring, giving women a chance to walk all over you. So, being a nice guy or being too nice doesn't often play as well as you want it to. I am not saying be an ass**** or have any bad boy traits, all I am saying is, play it cool and don't be naive when you're trying to woo a woman you like. (c)Thinkstock/Getty Images I am sure you've heard women say at times 'yeah he was okay, but he was just too nice'. That's the sentence that eliminates any challenge or chase that she may want or expect from you. So, in order to cure the 'nice guy' syndrome, here are a few things you can do to save yourself from an unnecessary rejection and get that second date: (1) Stop Being Predictable Women often recognise a pattern that men may have if they like them. Like for instance, if you're texting her all the time, asking her out for coffee and movies and generally being predictable with your actions, she knows what's in store for her. Instead, do unusual things every now and then to throw her off her game, or to keep her from finding out yours. (c)Giphy (2) Don't Be Needy That's the biggest red flag ever. Too needy is also too boring. You don't want to be the needy clinger who is always there trying to get her attention. She will definitely run miles away from you! Do your own thing, have your own life and include her in yours whenever you get a chance to. No one likes needy clingy boys. (c)Giphy (3) Don't Be Too Available That's almost the same as being needy. It's when she feels like she wants to see you, you're always available. Try and be a little less available and mysterious for her. She'll definitely want to see you more and will find you elusive and less boring. (c)Giphy (4) Don't Let Her Walk All Over You If you're too nice to her she will definitely want to take advantage of the situation as much as she can. Not in an evil twisted way, but all women at most times are confused as to what they want from a guy. So, if the guy is readily available, fulfilling all their wishes all the time, then they will take advantage of that. They may not necessarily want to walk all over you, but they will find you boring regardless. (c)Giphy (5) Go Beyond Your Comfort Zone Women like adventurous men who are risk takers. They like men who love exploring new things and taking risks. So, I guess it's time to change your lifestyle. Go out of your comfort zone and take a few risks and break that boring 'nice guy' pattern. (c)Giphy There's a lot more than just being 'a nice guy' all the time. If you break a certain pattern and let her see how you can have different shades to you, there is no way in hell she will ever find you boring.
  14. As a kid I often fancied living like royalty. Members of the royal family live in a separate world of their own. Their lifestyle, their events, parties, basically everything is different from ours. At least that's what the common notion is, right? Reuters But, thanks to Prince Harry, I got to know that there isn't much of a difference when it comes to the royal parties. It was Meghan Markle's charity cookbook event and Prince Harry stole the show after he was caught sneaking a samosa home. Reuters When everyone was busy chatting and looking elsewhere, the Duke of Sussex, was seen hiding the samosa behind his back. The moment he realised that he was caught red-handed, he gave a cheeky smile. I could be wrong but I reckon we've caught Prince Harry red handed stealing some samosas from the Meghan's 'Together' cookbook event they were at today!! Have a watch... #HubbCommunityKitchen @KensingtonRoyal pic.twitter.com/3BWd0TYqj8 — Chris Ship (@chrisshipitv) September 20, 2018 Reportedly, the vegetable samosas are a part of Meghan's project, 'Together: Our Community Cookbook'. Addressing the event, Meghan said "Working on this project for the past nine months has been a tremendous labor of love. I had just recently moved to London and felt so immediately embraced by the women in the kitchen with your warmth, and your kindness." We guess no one can understand his act and his love for samosa more than us. After all, we all have been there and done exactly that.
  15. Before we tell you why Google Wi-Fi is perfect for Indian homes, it would be fair to tell you that I bought Google's mesh router system for my personal use. Since this product was bought, it would be fair to tell you my opinion rather than writing an official review. I moved into a new home recently and I've always faced the issue of Wi-Fi coverage in my home. Indian homes are usually made of concrete thick walls that prevent the Wi-Fi signal from reaching all corners of the house. I recently got myself a gigabit connection and I needed a Wi-Fi system that would reach the far end of my house. The home I'm currently living in is 2,100 square feet and required a mesh router setup. © Google Today, traditional routers cannot deliver enough coverage and range extenders are often not reliable. Mesh routers are now taking over and I invested in getting myself a three-pack Google Wi-Fi. It costs less than Netgear's Orbi and delivers an experience that you would expect from a mesh router. After using Google's Wifi, I don't think I'll ever switch to a traditional Wifi again. It's Easy To Setup © MensXP Setting up the Google Wifi was probably the easiest thing we've encountered and it was even easier to set up the access points. Assuming you already have an internet connection, you can connect one of the Google Wifi points to your modem/router with an ethernet cable and it will automatically start broadcasting. You will need to download the free Google Wifi app on your iPhone or Android device to proceed further. The App will now let you configure your Wi-Fi network by simply scanning the QR code at the bottom of the Wifi point. You can then name your network and set a password. Once you are done with the procedure you can simply repeat the process of scanning the QR Code for installing additional points. It literally takes seconds for the Google Wifi to recognise additional Wifi Points. © MensXP Now that you're all set-up, you can use the Google Wifi app for additional features such as setting up a guest Wi-fi, test speeds, track the mesh network's health or monitor your network in general. The app has an inbuilt speed testing feature which means you don't need to use third-party apps to test your speed. How Did It Perform © Google Since I have a gigabit internet connection in my home, Google Wifi was able to optimise speed to the maximum even when we were far away from the nearest WiFi point. We were able to stream 4K movies on Netflix in three separate rooms at the same time without facing any buffer period. It was able to automatically prioritise traffic and distribute crucial bandwidth without any issues. Google Wifi is all about providing you with coverage, the speed of your internet depends on your plan or your ISP. Here is a screenshot of the speed I was getting 20 feet away from the nearest Google Wifi point: © MensXP Why Google Should Get It To India Currently, Google does not sell 'Google Wifi' in India officially as I purchased mine from the United States during my travels. The Google Wifi is reasonably priced and is the only affordable option when taking its competition into consideration. Google offers more units, is easy to setup and performs well. It's everything the Indian market and homes needs and with Google Home now available in India, it would be a perfect addition to the ecosystem. Indian homes, in general, have thicker walls than the west and in order to combat the problem of connectivity, Google Wifi is the only affordable answer right now.
  16. ISRO's workhorse, PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) has once again proven why it is among the most sought launch vehicles in the industry. Codenamed the C42 launch, the rocket has successfully placed two British satellites in their respective orbits. The two satellites belong to Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) and were placed in orbit after 17.5 minutes of lift-off. Right now, the NovaSAR and S1-4 are orbiting around the planet in a sun-synchronous orbit, at a height of 583kms. © ISRO The NovaSAR is an S-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite intended for forest mapping, land use & ice cover monitoring, flood & disaster monitoring. The S1-4 is a high-resolution Optical Earth Observation Satellite, used for surveying resources, environment monitoring, urban management and for the disaster monitoring. This mission marks the 44th launch for the PSLV rocket system. As of now, the vehicle has launched 51 Indian satellites and 237 for customers from 28 countries. Following the successful launch, ISRO plans to launch eight missions carrying 10 satellites in six months. Sources close to the launch have said that the two UK satellites shall bring in more than Rs 200 Crore. The organisation is aiming a total of Rs 980 crore in revenue via commercial launches by 2020. This isn't the first time India has launched satellites for the British. Back in 2015, the PSLV-C28 mission carried five satellites that were also built by SSTL. ISRO's PSLV has a very good track record in terms of cost and reliability, it currently carries a 94 per cent rating, failing only thrice. © ISRO The PSLV was first tested in 1993 and has been at the front-line of ISRO's operations ever since. It is capable of carrying up to 3,800kg of payload to Low Earth Orbit and consists of four stages. © ISRO ISRO has lined 19 missions till March 2019, informed Dr. Kailasavadivoo Sivan, chairperson of the ISRO. The organisation is also working on sending its first manned space mission by 2022, dubbed the Gaganyaan, it will put India in the same league as countries like the US, Russia, and China.
  17. Who doesn't like a good ol' classic like '8 Mile?' Yeah, it's a classic. If you disagree with me we can take the fight outside! Just like that, there are a lot of Hollywood movies which have used music videos to up the interest quotient in their movies. Getting a big name to do the title song for your movie will all but guarantee the people watch it, right? If only it were so. There have been many misses in this regard but for today, we're only going to focus on the ones that worked. These music videos didn't just generate interest in the movies they were associated with, they became superhits on their own. Again, I'm digressing. The only thing we're interested in here is how good these music videos are at making people go and watch the movie they are associated with. It's a list based purely on how a song makes you feel, so bear with me for a bit. You might not agree with my choices, but before you tear into me in the comments, listen to the songs. They might just change your mind. Also, use good headphones/earphones please. Using crap listening devices will doing an injustice to these songs… 1. '8 Mile' – Lose Yourself Every 13-year-old kid who was able to convince his/her parents to get them this cassette when it came out is a legend! But, back then, little did we know that there was a music video and an entire movie we could watch too. Yeah, the internet wasn't what it is today. Forget exams, the only thing that mattered was memorising the lyrics. The clocks run out. Times out. Over. Blao! I could rap the whole thing at one point. No lies! Could you? Anyway, the fact remains that Eminem is a Rap God and if you haven't watched '8 Mile' yet, there's no better time than now! If you have, I don't need to convince you to watch it again! 2. 'Dangerous Minds' – Gangsta's Paradise Everyone has heard this song. You haven't? Of course, you have! Just give it a listen: But, did you know that it was originally made for the movie 'Dangerous Minds?' Not many people do. Why? The movie wasn't the greatest. Even Michelle Pfeiffer couldn't make it work. The song, on the other hand, broke all sorts of records and even won Coolio a Grammy. Still, the movie is pretty bad. It's the only movie on this list I'd not recommend you giving a watch! 3. 'Black Panther' – Pray For Me There's no denying two things here. This is the coolest looking video on this list and 'Black Panther' is the highest earning movie on this list. I don't even need to brag about this one. The music video will make you appreciate it on its own. So, instead of writing, I'm just gonna watch the video with all of you: 4. 'Ghostbusters' – Ghostbusters It took a lot of effort to convince myself to start writing again. The only thing I want to do right now, is watch 'Black Panther.' But, we all have jobs and sometimes they suck. Just kidding, I love my job. Anyway, on to Ghostbusters. First, I'm not talking about the movie that released in 2016. I'm talking about the original. Still not clear? This should help: Before you comment on the video, bear in mind that it was released in 1984. I'd say it's pretty revolutionary when you take that into account. Did Ray Parker Jr. know his song was going to become one of the most easily recognisable songs in history? No. Does he mind? Hell no! After this one, all I can say is 'Ghostbusting makes me feel good!' 5. 'Rocky III' – Eye Of The Tiger Let's face it. By the time 'Rocky II' was over, people weren't expecting too much from 'Rocky III'. Why? He's defeated Creed. He's a champion. It's only downhill from there. Or so we thought. They found a way to make Rocky the underdog once more. He was past his prime and facing a hungry new-comer. But, what sealed it for the movie has got to be the song. The song that is part of everyone's gym playlist. It's not a part of yours? It has to be. Add it now! Everyone wants a ripped body like young Sylvester Stallone. Don't fool yourself! You do too! This song is the only way to get it! 6. 'Lego Movie' – Everything Is Awesome The first time I heard this song, it blew my mind. The 'Lego Movie' blew my mind. It was so much better than expected. Part of it has to do with the awesome theme song. When Batman approves! You better get on board! I'm so pumped right now it's not funny! Everything is awesome! Be careful with this one. It can make even the crappiest of days feel awesome. 7. 'Men In Black II' – Nod Ya Head Okay, this is a personal favourite. Not sure if everyone will agree. For me, Will Smith is an icon. I don't care what you have to say about him or his kids. For me, he will always be the kid from 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air' who became a Hollywood superstar! He deserves my respect and yours too. I give him props for sticking to his rap career even after becoming a superstar. Check out his charisma: His rap career did come full circle when he did the theme song for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Congratulations Will. But, I'll still remember him for this one. The first 'Men In Black' theme song was pretty cool too. But, this one is just better. Why? It makes me want to watch all 3 movies. Yeah, you heard me right, all 3 movies! 8. 'Saturday Night Fever' – Stayin' Alive The last music video on this list is here for just one reason, and that is to show the world how far a young John Travolta can take anything. Just look at the beautiful man: This wasn't supposed to be the last video on the list but screw it. I have to go rewatch all of John Travolta's work now. The man is a legend. If I keep going this will become a John Travolta appreciation post. So, I'm out. Figure out which of these movies you're going to watch first. Have a great day!
  18. The Razer Phone has been off to an amazing start since its launch. The brand has always been known for its gaming rigs and accessories, and with the Razer Phone, the company has carved out a niche for itself. Following the Razer's approach to mobile gaming, many other companies like ASUS and Xiaomi have also started focusing on gaming phones. In a recent earnings report, Razer confirmed that the Razer Phone 2 was in production. The Razer Phone was launched last year, and a new successor is expected to be just around the corner. It's become very normal for us to see a plethora of leaks and reports before every launch, same is the case with Razer. While there hasn't been any information on the new design, we do know a few of the specifications that the phone would boast. © Razer According to AnTuTu, a benchmarking app, the phone has a 5.7 inch Sharp IGZO LCD screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The phone will also have a 120Hz refresh rate thanks to Qualcomm's Q Sync display technology. The phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 8GB RAM and a humungous 512GB internal storage. The phone has also been spotted on another benchmarking app, Geekbench, that confirms the phone will be having a Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8GB RAM. The listing also revealed the phone will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo. One thing is sure, the phone will receive the Android 9 Pie update soon after its launch, or the company could surprise us by shipping it out of the box. © YouTube The phone is expected to have an 8-megapixel selfie camera and 12-megapixel dual rear shooters with dual-tone flash and wide-angle lens. There have been rumours floating around suggesting there could be a major design change and the company's Chroma LED lighting system will be incorporated. A few months back Min-Liang-Tan, the CEO of Razer had confirmed that the brand is working on bringing the phone to India. However, we haven't seen any progress there yet. The phone was earlier alleged to be launched at IFA Berlin, but that did not materialize, we expect it to launch in November though.
  19. It was almost a decade ago that the world of avid sitcom hoggers was gifted by the marvel that came to be known as 'The Big Bang Theory' which is much more than just a sci-fi based sitcom. Now with the twelfth, and reportedly also the final season all set to hit the screens in another 28 days, 677 hours, 40620 minutes and 2437200 seconds, we can't seem to come to terms with the impending 'black hole' that would leave on our list of 'beloved series that shouldn't ever come to an end'. © Facebook The show has gifted its audience with a lot besides the obvious dibs at geekiness and a healthy scoop of nerd references we all love to pull off during our times of need. The show has turned into a life-coach of sorts over the years and there is just so much one could take away from it. © Facebook The news has pushed us to reminisce about all the golden decrees that the show has gifted the mankind with and here are 5 of the best ones that are fit to be accepted and applied by anybody, in any given situation. 1. Choose Friends Who See The Crazy In You & Still Decide to Stick Around via GIPHY The show is an epitome of how a true friend chooses to stay beside you even when he/she sees how messed up you can be in the head. Despite the disagreements you have, the “quirks” that come along with your OCD and even the most bizarre agreements and arguments you come up with to have things your way, a true friend would always choose to stick by your side. 2. It's Okay To Flaunt The Geek In You & To Top That Off With Introversion via GIPHY If we had to choose that one trope that proudly shoulders the X-factor of this show, it has to be its way of showing how the nerd culture can be cool as well. The show marvellously utilizes the academic jargon and geek humour to dismantle popular beliefs around geeks and introverts which makes them seem like social misfits when in reality their world is too fun with new theories to discover and greater inventions to be made. 3. There Is Always Some Room For Love & You Must Trust To Find It In The Most Awkward Places via GIPHY Another aspect of the show that's highly relatable is the possibility of finding love in our lives. The lead characters in the sitcom comprises of two physicists, an aerospace engineer and an astrophysicist along with an actress-cum-waitress, so it's only expected that love and relationships wouldn't top their priority list but their heart begs to differ. Though for them, love comes as an alien concept requiring different commitments and emotional explorations, we have seen the men face their demons and (struggle to) find love. 4. Honesty Is The Best Policy & You Mustn't Shy Away From Being Blunt With It via GIPHY With the kind of personalities each characters possesses it is only expected to witness a clash of beliefs that spur exceedingly mind-blowing, well backed up yet daft arguments on anything and everything. Sheldon is known to have a knack for the spoken word and he can be exceptionally brutal with his honesty during arguments and discussions that often leads to cathartic interludes for the audience. 5. It's Okay To Not Win At Everything Or Live Up To Popular Demands/Expectations Every character in the story comes with its sets of shortcomings that are seen as “flaws” by an ever judgemental society but thankfully none of the characters in the show are sorry about it. via GIPHY Be it Sheldon with his orderliness and OCD, Leonard with agitations and eccentricities, Raj with his social anxiety and selective muteness, Howard with his creepy overtures or Penny with her academic and professional lacking, every character displays the ideal mix of Yin and Yang in the plot. Every character brings to the fore the many, unexplored layers of an individual which can be best explained by the fact that while all the guys in the story maybe be great academically, yet Penny manages to teach them a lot about life that they are unaware of. via GIPHY It would be such a low to not have the guys back on the screens for a new season after this, but here's hoping for all the closures and a series of memorable anecdotes to take away from the final run of the upcoming 24 episodes in the final season.
  20. Apple ditched the headphone jack two years ago when the company launched the iPhone 7. It forced users to either buy a Bluetooth headphone or use the Lightning-to-Headphone Jack Adapter for wired headphones. Apple included the adapter with the smartphone so that it does not cause more inconvenience for its users and so far, it has panned out well. © MensXP A new report by Macrumors says that Apple is not going to bundle the adapter with the new iPhones in 2018. According to the Barclays research report, Cirrus Logic, a supplier for the adapter has apparently confirmed that this situation may just be true. © BCCL "Reported a beat but gave mixed guidance with revenue below but earnings ahead. Cirrus didn't update its FY19 guide… but they did finally confirm the dongle loss, adding more support for our below estimates," the research note reads. © Apple Apple has been committed to a wireless future as the company launched the AirPods and BeatsX headphones that can connect to the iPhone reliably and easily. It's all thanks to the W1 Bluetooth Chip incorporated by Apple in these headphones. So, if Apple has decided to remove the adapter from the retail box, it won't make much difference as people have either started using the AirPods or some other Bluetooth headphone. There are rumours that the new iPad will also ditch the headphone jack and possible the adapter as well. © YouTube The removal of the adapter may generate controversy, but you can always buy the adapter separately. It's priced relatively cheaper than most Apple accessories and is easily accessible on various e-commerce portals and Apple authorised sellers. Would you be able to live without the Lightning to Headphone adapter? Or are you already using a wireless headphone? Let us know in the comments. Source: Macrumors

Eggs © Thinkstock/Getty Images One of the healthiest food sources on this planet and an absolute winner on the protein content is your whole egg. Whole eggs offer various options in which it can be included in the diet. From breakfast to dinner or snack, you can add eggs in your diet in so many ways. A bodybuilder needs some good quality protein that has the best amino profile to help him build muscles, and eggs give you exactly that. Therefore I suggest you to add them in your groceries list every time you go out grocery shopping. Greek Yogurt © Thinkstock/Getty Images The advantage that Greek yogurt has over regular yogurt is that Greek yogurt is high in protein and contains lesser fat per serving, making it an ideal food for bodybuilding. Regular yogurt has more fat and thus it becomes difficult at times to include it in your regular diet. Therefore, Greek yogurt serves as a very good alternative as it contains the same healthy bacteria like yogurt and also has more protein per serving. Quinoa © Thinkstock/Getty Images Quinoa is another healthy grain available out there which is quite easy to cook. Looks almost like brown rice after cooking, it takes less than half the time to cook than brown rice. This easy preparation makes it an ideal choice to be there in your surroundings. Whenever you feel hungry and want to have a healthy snack, just cook some quinoa and it will help you in completing your carb intake for the day. Whey Protein © Thinkstock/Getty Images I am sure this one must already be there in your list, if not, then it should be. Choose a delicious flavor of your whey protein so that when you have cravings for a sugary drink or a sweetened shake, you can replace it with a protein shake. Not only does the protein shake help you complete your protein intake for the day but it also offers you a delicious way to satisfy your hunger. Low Fat Cottage Cheese © Thinkstock/Getty Images Cottage cheese is also an excellent muscle builder as it provides you the casein protein that helps your body get a continuous supply of amino acids. Vegetarians consume majority of their protein from cottage cheese only. It is also very easy to cook cottage cheese and you can also have it in its natural form. Oats © Thinkstock/Getty Images A very good source of complex carbs and fiber, oats are an ideal way to start your day. They fill your body with enough calories that you can easily sustain till lunch. These days, oats are also available in masala flavor which can be cooked like instant noodles and provide a very good option to be consumed as a snack. Whole Wheat Bread © Thinkstock/Getty Images In the evenings, instead of having those sugar filled cream biscuits, it's better to have whole wheat bread slices. Make sure that the brand that you buy uses whole wheat flour in the manufacturing process. By replacing those biscuits with these breads you will reduce the sugar intake and also increase the fiber intake simultaneously. Olive Oil © Thinkstock/Getty Images You know that you need to avoid the normal vegetable oil for a healthier lifestyle. Olive oil is rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fat as well as oleocanthal, a polyphenol compound that acts like a natural anti-inflammatory substance. You can also complete your daily intake of essential fatty acids. Muesli © Thinkstock/Getty Images Just like oats, muesli serve as an excellent snack whenever you feel hungry. It is low on GI and has a good quantity of fibers, and therefore can easily fit into your macros. You can have it with your protein shake to enhance the flavor of muesli. 23. A little while ago, a report by Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple will be releasing the new iPhone in a handful of new colours for the 6.1-inch LCD version. The claim has now been corroborated by Mactotakara, that these new colours will indeed launch with the cheaper model. However, the Red colour may be excluded. © Twitter Originally it was said that the 6.1-inch iPhone will be made available in Grey, White, Gold, Blue, Red and Orange. However, Macotakara said that its supply chain sources have suggested that the 6.1-inch LCD device will be available in a range of colours similar to the iPhone X leather case lineup. Macotakara says that the phone will likely be available in white, flash yellow, black, bright orange, taupe gold and electric blue. It's been a while since Apple has introduced a colourful iPhone since the iPhone 5c and it will be awesome to see these new colours that would add much-needed life to the iPhones. Android companies have already been experimenting with some cool colours such as the blue colour on the Honor 10 and the twilight colour on the P20 Pro. Samsung is also planning to launch some attractive colours for the Galaxy Note 9 which only solidifies the opinion— people want some colour in their lives. © YouTube The iPhone 5c was hailed as one of the most creative ways to sell a cheaper smartphone by Apple and we feel the Cupertino giant may follow a similar strategy to sell the cheaper 6.1-inch LCD smartphone. © Twitter Macotakara does not mention a red variant for the 6.1-inch smartphone as it is quite possible that Apple will launch that option for a mid-year release as a part of the (product) red series. Apple followed a similar strategy with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and we can expect the red colour to launch sometime in the middle of the phone's life-cycle. Here are the two predictions that depict the colour scheme of the new iPhone: Macotakara's predictions: White Black Flash Yellow Bright Orange Electric Blue Taupe Ming-Chi Kuo's predictions: Gold Grey White Blue Red Orange We can also expect the iPhone X successor to come in gold. Apple planned to launch the gold variant last year as it was leaked as a prototype by the FCC but the smartphone never saw the day of light. What iPhone are you most excited for? Would you buy a different colour iPhone? Let us know your preferences in the comments section. Source: Macotakara
  24. When Chris Martin sang the line 'when you try your best, but you don't succeed' it's almost as if he was talking about Arshad Warsi. Arshad Warsi can give incredible performances which are loved by audience and critics alike, and then can still be replaced. He impressed everyone with his starring role in the 2013 movie 'Jolly LLB' but then he was nowhere to be seen in the sequel and they got Akshay Kumar to play the lead in the second one. And now, another one of Arshad's iconic roles might be played by another actor. Yep, I'm talking about the role of 'Circuit', Munna Bhai's loyal and hilarious sidekick. He played the role in both 'Munna Bhai MBBS' and then in 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', but as far as the third movie in the series is concerned, a different actor altogether might be cast for the role of Circuit. © Vinod Chopra Productions According to the rumours, the actor being considered is none other than Ranbir Kapoor, who just delivered the most successful movie of his career. Ranbir's incredible portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in the biopic 'Sanju' has impressed every single person who's watched it. Some people may have not liked the movie, but no one can deny what a terrific job Ranbir did. © Vinod Chopra Productions Reportedly, Ranbir impressed Rajkumar Hirani so much that now he might be considering casting him in 'Munna Bhai 3'. After working closely with him, he saw how hard Ranbir worked for the movie, from his almost perfect transformation to how well it was received by everyone. This might have compelled him to consider replacing Arshad – who's honestly as much of an integral part of 'Munna Bhai' as Sanjay Dutt – for the next one. © Vinod Chopra Productions Nothing is confirmed yet, it's all rumours, but if it's true, then it'll truly be heart-breaking for Arshad. We can't really imagine seeing anyone else as Circuit, but then again if it's Ranbir, you know already that he'll give a damn good performance.
  25. Invision Community has been going strong for over sixteen years now. Many of those who work for us were customers first before they signed away their souls and became staff. This month, we part the mists of time and ask: How did you first come across Invision Community? Andy (Developer and man of mystery) Way back in 1998 I was involved with an online investment club in the UK (of course you were - Editor) and we set up a directory of national share clubs with a threaded “bulletin board”. This was based on a freely available perl script (as everything was back then (did they claim it would always be free? - Editor)) but it just wasn’t up to the job. This was my first exposure to writing web based software as I started customising it for our needs. Soon after, we switched to UBB which moved away from messy layouts and to a more structured forum, topic, post experience. With the release in 2004 of Invision Community 1.3 we switched again and I’ve been working with Invision Community software ever since (and you had such a promising life planned out - Editor). Around the same time the investment club moved to Invision Community, I also started up two other sites, one for modified cars which was an extremely popular niche at the time and one for my home town of Bedlington which is still running to this date. When developing for Invision Community I find it very useful to have that historical experience and real world insight. A lot of my input when we discuss new features as a team comes as a direct result of this first hand experience. I was part of this Investment Club when I was younger Marc (Support and fan of bouncy castles) My first real experience trying to set up forums/communities for myself was somewhere around 2000 (lol slow down grandpa - Editor). Me and a few friends used to host gaming servers for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and wanted something for storing stats on, so I set up UBB which I remember thinking was really cool at the time. I never really did much with it other than setting it up for people to use, and remember at the time backing things up on a 1mb hard drive (can't even fit a picture on that these days (need a push on that rocking chair? - Editor)). Over the years, I ran a few more sites and the software at some point became vBulletin (cant recall when, but just seemed to happen) which I ran through version 2 and late into version 3. At that point I was starting to add things for myself, usually learning from other peoples "FIND abc, AFTER ADD, xyz" which is how we all used to add our own modifications at the time. The thought of an upgrade at the time, I know used to make me cringe. At some point during vBulletin 4 release, I was becoming a little disillusioned with the whole community software scene in general (other disappointing platforms are available - Editor), and hadn't really used Invision Community before, but ended up using that for a site for my wife. I was using Invision Community more and more. Purely because it was the site that was most active at the time. This led me to becoming very interested in the new Invision Community 4 release, and was becoming a bit of an social addict on the alpha forum that was released, helping out people who weren't sure of things, and generally asking questions. It was around this point I was asked to join the team here at Invision. And you guys have had to put up with me ever since! My sincere apologies for that. (apology accepted - Editor) This has nothing to do with Castle Wolfenstein but it's late and I need this blog entry done Mark H (Support and keeper of Dropbox) The internet was in its infancy in 1985 (and there goes 80% of our readers - Editor), and I was using BBS's on a dial-up 1200 baud modem. In 1986 I took over a BBS from a friend, running it on a 2400 baud modem and single phone line. It was just a few years later that I got my first look at the real "Internet", using Netscape and now a 9600 baud modem (we just lost another 10% - Editor). At some point I discovered online communities, then only "Forums" with perhaps photo gallery software similar to Coppermine. My focus was gaming at the time, so I gravitated to forums for such things as (like Marc) Castle Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, and the first RPG-type text-based games. I also joined a number of MUD's (multiplayer real time worlds - Editor), and am a (now retired) staff member of the MUD, Ancient Anguish. I've seen the progression of technology and software which, today, we take for granted. But back then if someone had told me where we would be today, (oh boy, here we go - Editor) I'd have been...... skeptical. Over the years, I've used a verity of "forum software" but well over a decade ago started using Invision Community version 1.3a. Today I am a partner with another person running a site using Invision Community software, and it's the highest-ranking result at Google for its (admittedly niche) speciality. Since I was using Invision Community, having purchased it at version 2.3, and given that background, it seemed a natural progression to join Invision Community as an employee when the opportunity arose, and I have never looked back! (must be dangerous when reversing - Editor) Actual footage of Mark listening to an internet podcast back in 1985 Jennifer (Designer and sock fanatic) Communities, for me, started on AOL. The chat rooms was where I started. I evolved to javascript chat rooms later and eventually into Neopets clubs followed by a community software called Avidgamers and eventually stumbled across InvisionFree forums. It was while I was adventuring through Avidgamers that I discovered an art type called "pixel" art which truly explains my passion. I was personally never good at it but I found a community called "Eden Enchanted" where all these really awesome pixel artists were. So I started to develop my own Pixel art community (because back then I thought I might eventually get good at it so I should admin). I started on the free community software of "SMF" but envied the ease of use and the beauty of Invision Community (which this awesome pixel community used (they have outstanding taste - Editor)). After what felt like forever, which mind you was really only like 2-3 months, I bit the bullet and purchased an Invision Community license. I wanted this gorgeous piece of software and I couldn't live with the second rate free stuff anymore (there's our new advert slogan - Editor). So I bought Invision Community 2.3 and delved in (this was back in 2007). I really haven't looked back since. I've been developing skins since I got it and I've made a few mods/applications on it back in the 3.0 days. I've owned and ran many communities, and roleplays, on Invision Community since. My current community, which has officially been running on Invision Community since December 2013, was transferred from InvisionFree (not my choice but god were we happy when we left). Ah the memories. Terrible, terrible memories Brandon (Developer and XP log in screen enthusiast) Back in roughly 2004-ish I got into customizing Windows XP (specifically I created custom login screens (this was actually a thing? - Editor) but knew a lot of people who did the full alternative to Windows Blinds by hacking dlls) and eventually opened a site to host my work and to allow others to share theirs: bfarber.com. I used Invision Community v1.3 which was free at the time (2.0 was just getting into beta testing as I recall) and needed a file manager to share my work and to allow others to do the same. I downloaded a free file manager by a modder named 'parkeet' and after installing it on my site (which required those good ole "find X and replace with Y" PHP file modifications) I found that it was lacking in a few areas, so I set out to customize it. From this desire I taught myself PHP (I was already familiar with HTML, CSS and javascript) and learned how to modify the modification. Eventually, the original author left the mod scene (this was back in the ibmods days for those of you who have been here a while (I have - Editor)) and turned the work over to me. I was hired by IPS back around 2006 and shortly after I came on board I built a new Downloads manager from the ground up as a core offering for the company (Now I know who to assign all Download tickets to - Editor). While I don't run my own site anymore (especially a third party hack site for Windows XP), I do have fond memories of my roots. This was both my start with web development (beyond building a few static HTML pages in the early days of the web) as well as my start with forums specifically. Never used this, apparently it was OK Stuart (Developer and owner of large computers) My story is rather similar to the other ones here (selling this story from the off - Editor). My story starts around 2000 when I started a car club with my brother, being the technical one, one of the first things to do was to set up a forum. We started with Ikonboard (imagine Perl & flat-file databases etc), we swiftly followed Matt over to his new PHP-based project "Invision Power Board" (pretty sure the restraining order prohibited that - Editor). With the introduction of the new licensing structure unfortunately with being very low budget we had to then move over to WBB (er... - Editor). Soon after we moved back to Invision Community (It was the best and totally worth it! (I made him say that - Editor)) and I started to get interested with PHP (up to this point, I had only really used HTML/CSS) and learning how to make some changes that we needed for working with 'members' and tying our website in with our community. -- A really simple SSO type approach where the main website would show the user that's logged in and save data they submit, such as a tech spec and images of their vehicles. That community is still using Invision Community and in the meantime I've also converted (and run) some other car club communities that I've been involved in over the years. From there, I was asked to start writing SSO (single sign on, you're welcome- Editor) integrations in early 2014 for Invision Community and soon after became a full member of staff. I still run a number of communities to this day which gives great insight into how end users interact with the software and generally what their feelings of the platform is. Quite often, I'll deploy Alphas to these communities to gather feedback. Oh, he said Car Club... Jim (Support and his name is a bit like the lead singer from The Doors) The first community I really heavily participated in was around 2003. Being a nerd and liking wrestling at the time (Ultimate Warrior FTW- Editor), I joined a wrestling forum that ran a very beginning version of IPB. A lot of time was spent on this website and after becoming a moderator, I really feel in love with IPB. A sub-forum on this community that was pretty active was around graphic design. Feedback/showcases and competitions with the main point of focus around the wrestling world. This really took my interest and while my interest in wrestling kind of faded, graphic design led to the next step in my life and naturally joining graphic design communities. After being a part of quite a few graphic design forums (that were ran quite badly (honesty is always good - Editor)) came time for me to try my hand at this. Being technically inclined, I thought I could run a better show. We started out on PHPBB due to cost but after some frustrating moments, I persuaded the move to Invision Community. Come sometime around 2008 or 2009 and my new passion around cars had reached its peak, I came back onto the forum scene. In 2010, my favorite brand had become defunct so I decided to open a community dedicated to keeping its memory alive. First and only choice was to come back to Invision Community! (Believe early version 3 at the time) This community is still alive and I still have a lot of fun with it! I've been waiting months to post this GIF Rhett (Hosting and boasting) My time on forums started in the late 90's, with a few motorcycle and photography forums I visited often. During the years as time progressed some of these went astray from what the core members wanted, so I started a few of my own Motorcycle forums with the core members following, that lead to other online communities such as Android (is that the cheap iOS knockoff? - Editor) in the late 2000's, and a few other communities. In about 08-09 I had enough of the main platform we were using and made the move to Invision Community (a man of fine taste - Editor). I started digging in, converting all the sites to Invision and haven't looked back (seriously, how do you guys get out of parking spots? - Editor). It's a great product, a great team, that I'm proud to be a small part of. Instagram in the 80s Daniel (Developer and owner of a shop and spa in Arendelle) My Journey started 2003 at an Austrian electronical music forum which was also written in perl. After years where I was only a member, the owner lost interest and a handful of people(incl. myself) took it over (hopefully you asked nicely first - Editor), but we realized that perl was such a pain to work with (I could have told you that - Editor), so we restarted the whole project with phpBB. This was also the time, where I got really interested into coding and customizing stuff. After a long journey from phpBB, to vBulletin(2006), and others, I landed finally here (the best one of course (someone's getting a bonus - Editor)) The forum doesn't exist anymore , I blame facebook and all the european laws, but TBH, I'm just too busy to run one 😁 Probably not Daniel Those are our stories, but we'd love to hear about your first experiences with Invision Community. Let us know below!
