  11. It’s been more than a couple of weeks since the T20 World Cup final but it seems like people are still not over India’s shocking exit from the multi-nation tournament. With the Indian team shifting its focus on the ongoing home series against New Zealand, the fans in the country have slowly and steadily started to get over the heartbreak but people outside India, especially in our neighbouring country Pakistan, seems to have been more affected by our defeat than most of us. © Twitter/ICC Many of their former players earn more money by analysing Team India’s performance than they do by analysing their own team’s outings and for that, they are ready to go to any extent, even if it means creating controversies with their nonsensical remarks. Recently, Pakistan’s former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq made a claim alleging that there was a problem between India’s former T20 skipper Virat Kohli, former head coach Ravi Shastri and the BCCI and that their relations weren’t good going into the marquee event. © Reuters Not just that, he even made alleged that Kohli and Shastri already knew that Rahul Dravid would take Team India’s command after the T20 World Cup and it definitely created a difference between them. “I said this even before the match, that this statement of leaving captaincy after the tournament… it is not good. You have to play a big event and this shows that there is pressure on you and you are not comfortable. They all knew that after this tournament, Shastri was to get replaced by Dravid,” Inzamam said on ARY News. © Reuters “This [Kohli giving up T20 captaincy] should not [have] happened before a big event. Your authority gets challenged. And this means that relations between Kohli, Shastri and the board were not great. If India were to win the T20 World Cup, would they have removed the captain and coach? There was some problem between them,” he added. The former Pak batting great, who scored over 10,000 runs in ODI cricket, must have forgotten to read or he intentionally ignored what Kohli said while announcing his decision to relinquish T20 captaincy. He clearly mentioned that he was stepping down from his role to focus on his batting and become the best version of himself. © Reuters Indian players are respected for the value they add to the team, not the post they hold and that's something the former Pakistan skipper should remember. If anything, Kohli should be lauded that he was brave enough to make this bold call. View the full article
