  1. Energy experts say not an appropriate time, arguing EU, US and Japan imposed sanctions on Moscow after Russia invaded Ukraine
  2. Babar Azam, Saqlain Mushtaq, Zakir Khan and Mohammad Wasim hold meetings to discuss the strength of cricketers
  3. With 2% of elites filling politics by repeatedly taking turns, 98% of people are unable to relate to the jargon office-bearers of state present
  4. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI revealed the updated annual contracts for the various Indian cricket players who were a part of the regular rotation of the squad during the 2021 season and may potentially remain active during the 2022-23 season. And as always, the fans of the Indian cricket team have formed various opinions about the kind of money being handed over to all these players. While some players have been shown a lot of sympathy for losing out on the previously held contracts, other cricketers were hated upon for earning more they should be (in the eyes of the fans, of course). "Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah in the A+ Contract in the new BCCI annual contract." - According to Dainik Jagran — CricketMAN2 (@ImTanujSingh) March 2, 2022 The former captain of the Indian cricket team and arguably the most polarising man in all of cricket, Virat Kohli belongs to the second group of people and has been slammed all over the internet for being granted the A+ category contract by the Indian cricket board, despite what has been a sub-par year for the cricketer - as compared to the kind of years he has had in the past. Going purely by performance, Kohli shouldn't even have a BCCI contract. India would have been decimated by Aussies if not for the class of Rahane and Pujara. — Praveen Verma (@Praveen09166903) March 2, 2022Why Chokli-The Finished Player aka Politician of ICT in A+? — (@Rohit_GOAT264) March 2, 2022Sneaked in virat in A+ He should be in C grade — NOone (@factsman2003) March 2, 2022CHOKLI IS GETTING A+ GRADE WHILE DHAWAN IS GETTING C GRADE CONTRACT SHAME — ´ (@Extra__Cover) March 2, 2022Chokli should kick out of team without any contract — Ankit (@BruceWa75808922) March 2, 2022A lot of negative things have happened to Kohli, especially this last year. He resigned as the captain of his IPL squad, Royal Challengers Bangalore following a heartbreaking end to the IPL 2021 season. He stepped down as the captain of the Indian T20I squad following a disappointing run at the ICC World Cup 2021. Kohli was also sacked by the BCCI as the ODI captain after the selectors decided to give the entire white-ball captaincy to Rohit Sharma. And finally, he resigned as the captain of the Test cricket team after losing the three-match series in South Africa against a short-handed Protea team. View this post on Instagram The batter has also been under the spotlight for the last two years as he has not been able to score a single century in any of three international cricket formats since November 2019. One of his greatest weaknesses while batting has also been highlighted across multiple series - how Kohli continues to play unnecessary cover drives that often lead to an outer edge catch behind the stumps. Having said that, Kohli continues to be one of the top 10 batters in international Tests (rank 7) and ODIs (rank 2). He has only recently fallen out of the top-10 list in T20Is as well. Despite such stellar performances and a great batting record across formats, the fact that he is being called out for not doing enough to earn the greatest BCCI contract is only a testament to how great of a player he is and how the world has managed to expect nothing but absolute excellence from him over the years. Babar Azam still at the top Rohit Sharma closes in on Virat Kohli Fakhar Zaman and Joe Root sneak into the top 10 Here’s how things stand after the latest update to the @MRFWorldwide ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings for batters More details https://t.co/gkPWgLbUCq pic.twitter.com/JOgc1SpQKm — ICC (@ICC) February 9, 2022 Based on the contractual set-up of the BCCI, players who belong to the A+ category earn a handsome Rs. 7 crore per year. This is on top of the match fee they receive for playing across the three forms of international cricket, the IPL contracts they receive during or before the auction and all the endorsements they do throughout the year. 5. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have all retained their spot in the top category (A+ Grade) as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its new central contract list. © Reuters This year there were more demotions than promotions as BCCI handed the central contract to 27 players across four categories. Test veterans Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma, who were placed in Grade A till last year, have now been demoted to Grade B. © Reuters This comes after they were dropped from the Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and were asked to play Ranji Trophy by the selection committee. Veteran wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who recently breached the central contract clause by revealing the private conversations he had with the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and head coach Rahul Dravid, has still managed to retain his contract, albeit with a demotion to Grade C from B. © Reuters The players who suffered the biggest loss were all-rounder Hardik Pandya and veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan. Both of them were placed in Grade A but have now been demoted to Grade C. In monetary terms, their last contract earned them Rs 5 crore annually but now they will only be getting Rs 1 crore Last year, the central contract was given to 28 players but this year it has been reduced to 27. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacer Navdeep Saini have been dropped from the contract list. © Reuters However, the fans of the Indian cricket team were not upset with these demotions but the lack of transparency in the selection process. Players who are a crucial part of the Men In Blue all three formats are generally placed in the top most category i.e., Grade A. Till last year, one could understand why the BCCI placed only three players Kohli, Rohit and Bumrah in the topmost bracket as others were not sure of a place in one format or the other. But now this list also includes the likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja but the board placed them in Grade A. © Reuters In the last 12 months, Rahul, Pant and Jadeja have all taken their game to the next level and contributed immensely to the team’s success across all formats. Before this central contract list was announced, there were reports suggesting that the BCCI will reward Rahul and Pant with A+ contract but since this official announcement has left the fans fuming. Pissed with the BCCI for doing grave injustice to three key members of the Indian team, the fans took to the micro-blogging site and bashed the Indian board for not giving the player what they deserved. VC not in the A+ contract is a complete joke then . pic.twitter.com/9MNRinT7cQ — Pradeep #LM7 (@KLRveriyan) March 2, 2022Jadeja deserve A + contract. — Tejas Adake (@tejas_adake) March 2, 2022KL and Pant are getting the A+ contract soon and they deserve it — ° (@bccindian) March 2, 2022KL Rahul deserve A+ contract. — Mobassir Hashmi (@m_Hashmi05) March 2, 2022All of this is a big joke. All of them are getting 10+ crore in IPL so no one cares about it — Professor samuel oak (@prof_oak123) March 2, 2022Even jadeja is, that doesn't gurantee them A. — Kullu Kaali (@SirKohli__) March 2, 2022Jadeja and KL should be in the A+ category imo. Not as big names as Kohli/Rohit, but both are near essential in the team in all 3 formats. That should be the yardstick of contract selection — asdf (@Saniul_) March 2, 2022The sole purpose of creating A+ Grade was to reward handsomely the players who play all three formats for the Indian team. In the last year or so, Rahul, Pant and Jadeja have been as important a part of the Indian team as the three players who are in the top category and they definitely deserved a place alongside them. Here’s the full contract list: Grade A+: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah Grade A: Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Rishabh Pant Grade B: Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma. Grade C: Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Deepak chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Yuzvendra Chahal, Wriddhiman Saha, Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank Agarwal Dropped: Kuldeep Yadav and Navdeep Saini View the full article

  7. Bollywood actress Nidhhi Agerwal, who made her debut with Munna Michael back in 2017 along with Bollywood's then new action man Tiger Shroff, had a reportedly different clause in her contract for the film. The film, which was directed by Sabbir Khan, starred Nidhhi as a dancer and also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui. According to reports, while both Nidhhi and Tiger played lead roles in the film, that didn't somewhat reflect in their respective contracts. © Jio Cinema Apparently, this was because of there being a 'No Dating' clause in the contracts. Now, while Nidhhi's movie contract had that clause, it was reported that Tiger's did not, with the conditions being different for both of them. On asked whether she actually ended up signing the contract, Nidhhi said, “I did. But clearly, I am not very good at reading contracts and signing them as I explained to you before, but yeah, I did.” Now, for an outsider, the contract would seem unfair, especially when a co-star at the same level is not bound by something similar. Nidhhi was asked whether she too felt that it was an 'unfair' condition. However, the actress replied that she 'didn't care' about it. “I just didn’t even care. I was so happy that I have gotten a film. I was like, ‘Wow, I have become a heroine.’ I didn’t care about anything. For me, just the fact that I have gotten my film was everything.” said Nidhhi. Even in 2016, when the movie was released, Munna Michael producer Viki Rajani was asked about the same, to which he explained exactly why the conditions for both were different. “Tiger is already a star while this is Nidhhi’s launch film. She is a bright girl and we don't want her to get distracted. Sabbir (Khan, director) and I have seen real potential in her and this will do her good,” he said. © BCCL He was later asked whether he thought it was sexist. To which the producer replied that Nidhhi wasn't made to sign the contract ‘at gunpoint’. Sounds fair to you? On the work front, while Nidhhi is working in Tamil and Telugu cinema, Tiger will next be seen along with Akshay Kumar in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2. Source: Hindustan Times View the full article

  9. Just like a common man we are used to passing by on the metro station, in a grocery store or even nodding indifferently at in a lift, Bob Biswas looked like the everyday guy going from his home to office, office to home and somehow managing to get dissolved in the background. And perhaps that is what made his character as an insurance agent-cum-contract-killer unique, and one that fans couldn’t get enough of in Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani. The 2012 film that starred Vidya Balan and served fans with a suspense that kept them at the edge of their seats, also had them rooting for the character of Bob Biswas, which Diya Annapurna Ghosh is all set to make us meet in a spin-off. Bob Biswas is a common man, with a killer of a story! Watch Bob’s world come alive in #BobBiswas trailer now!@IChitrangda #SamaraTijori@ghosh09 @gaurikhan @sujoy_g @_GauravVerma @RedChilliesEnt #Boundscript @Zee5India pic.twitter.com/M6NspNOxWF — Abhishek Bachchan (@juniorbachchan) November 19, 2021 Played by Abhishek Bachchan who has truly nailed the look of a common man, the trailer of the film takes us through the life events of Bob Biswas, after he claims to have lost all memory of who he was and what he was known for. As Bob follows the trail to his recovery in this two and a half minute trailer, he is forced back on the road to his criminal past and that gives fans the window to speculate whether he is really struggling with his memory or all of this is just a ploy to fool everyone around. Yet again. Actress Chitrangda Singh plays the role of Bob Biswas’s wife and doesn’t seem to suspect him of his alternate identity or any foul play. But can we really blame her, when all of us were fooled by the original character played by Saswata Chatterjee in Kahaani. Meanwhile, the internet is already breaking with speculation, anticipation and unanimous praise for Junior Bachchan who has essayed the role with perfection, at least by the looks of the trailer. From being a bad actor to an amazing Actor@juniorbachchan has come a long way Looking forward to the movie — Sanaullah._.srkian (@Lucifer_srk_07) November 19, 2021After Ludo, Abhishek bachan seems to have pulled off this character beautifully. Wowwwww ATB Abhishek — DEVANGI SHETH SHAH (@tinavips) November 20, 2021Twitter is flooded with reactions as people sit with bated breaths and hope they will not be catfished by the trailer. One user wrote, “Looks good. The evolution of @juniorbachchan as an actor is praiseworthy,” another one wrote, “Please don’t disappoint us.” Even though Saswata Chatterjee will always be the real bob biswas for me, this trailer looks good, Abhishek back with another interesting role.. #BobBiswas #BobBiswasOnZEE5 https://t.co/E5CRzc4ENN — Mehran मेहरन (@mehranzaidi) November 19, 2021Jason bourne desi version…#Bollywood copy paste ke layakh hai — Watha.. (@I_Noor07) November 20, 2021There were also people who couldn’t help but draw similarities of the plot with the Hollywood film franchise Jason Bourne. And while there could be a few undeniable similarities, we would like to believe that Diya Ghosh would retain the originality of the character and give us nothing short of the thrill we had while watching Kahaani. The movie is set to release on December 3 on Zee5. View the full article

  12. Amitabh Bachchan recently terminated his contract with a pan masala brand saying that he didn’t know that it ‘falls under surrogate advertising’. This came after he was requested by a national anti-tobacco organization to withdraw himself from the advertising campaign. The ad campaign promoted pan masala and the national anti-tobacco organization advised him that withdrawing himself from the brand would stop youngsters from getting addicted to tobacco. Earlier, his fans had also criticized the move. View this post on Instagram An official statement was released, saying, “Kamala Pasand … a few days after the commercial was aired, Mr Bachchan contacted the brand and stepped out of it last week. Upon checking why this sudden move – it was revealed that when Mr Bachchan became associated with the brand, he wasn’t aware that it falls under surrogate advertising Mr Bachchan has terminated the contract with the Brand, has written to them his termination and has returned the money received for the promotion.” View this post on Instagram Earlier, a letter had been addressed to Amitabh Bachchan and Shekhar Salkar, President National Organization for Tobacco Eradication, stating pan masala ads should be stopped immediately. The letter read, “As an oncologist and member of an NGO working in the field of tobacco cessation, I am aggrieved and provoked to wage war against the dubious measures, such embellishment done by various influential and famous Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Hrithik Roshan, leading to increased tobacco use among students.” Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan had responded to a fan who asked him why he chose to endorse the brand. He said, “If some people are getting benefits from an industry, we should not think as to ‘why am I getting associated with it?’ If it is an industry, then we too should think of it as our industry. Now, you may think that I should not be doing it, but I get paid for it.” View the full article
