  5. All advertisements of Fortune Rice Bran cooking oil featuring the current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly have reportedly been pulled down by Adani Wilmar, merely days after the former captain of the Indian cricket team suffered a ‘mild heart attack’. The cooking oil, that had Ganguly promote it, talked about how the product was ‘healthy for the heart’ and the irony was enough for the Indian social media users to bombard the brand with trolls and memes. Saurav Ganguly was the brand ambassador for ‘healthy for heart, Fortune oil’, had a heart attack. The great Indian irony...!!! pic.twitter.com/yVg8uozhVd — Mr. Dalit️ (@MrDalit) January 3, 2021 With a tagline that said: 'A heart healthy oil that gives you the power of immunity', the brand was criticised online for not living up to it’s words after the cricketer suffered a heart attack last week. According to reports, Ganguly was in the gym when he complained of uneasiness. 6. Gordon Ramsay is the best at roasting people, his insults are literally iconic and it's amazing to see him call people 'donkeys' or 'idiot sandwiches'. But, Gordon Ramsay actually getting roasted is a rare and beautiful sight and only a few people have actually managed to successfully do it. And, the best part is that it's actually his children who know perfectly how to put him in his place. View this post on Instagram His daughter Tilly really seems to know how to push her dad's buttons in the most hilarious way. An old video of her 'owning' Gordon with a simple comment is something straight out of a meme, and it's still hard to believe it's actually real. And, she's done it again! Gordon recently shared a TikTok video he made with Tilly where they take part in the latest This or That challenge. View this post on Instagram Imagine being the best chef in the world and your kid still picks her mom's cooking over yours, only Gordon can relate. Also, shoutout to the Ramsays for giving everyone the best and most wholesome version of this trend. © Instagram People really can't believe this, just because of how funny it is. © Instagram The coolest dad, for sure. © Instagram He definitely did! © Instagram View the full article
  7. Hina Altaf and Aagha Ali are breaking the internet and fans think there is more to the duo than what meets the eye. It is Hina Altaf’s birthday today (Thursday) and Aagha Ali made sure that she celebrates it in one-of-a-kind manner by throwing her a surprise birthday that had everything from decorations to gifts on point. Aagha, who is not a big fan of celebrating his own birthday, made sure everything for Hina were perfect. In a video going viral of late, Hina can be seen taken aback by all the decorations on her birthday from what seems to be a surprise celebration planned by Aagha for her. He went on to shower her with gifts and flowers on her special day, making people think as to what is going on between them. While Aagha took to his Instagram to wish the birthday girl, Hina too thanked him for all his efforts on her birthday. The duo’s fans are speculating their status as of now; whether they are just friends or harbour special feelings for each other. While some believe this may be the start of a new relationship, others think what Aagha did is just a sweet gesture for a friend. Aagha was previously dating Sarah Khan for a considerable amount of time, before parting ways with her due to personal reasons and since then they have not been spotted together.
  8. Being discriminated against because of any reason is one of the worst things ever. It becomes even more infuriating when that discrimination comes in the way of someone following their dreams and that kind of stuff can mess with anyone. Something like this happened to 18-year-old Louis Makepeace, who has dwarfism. He's a 3ft 10in tall chef who has been refused a place at Heart of Worcestershire College, where he was first accepted on a conditional basis. He claims college bosses branded him a “health and safety risk” to the other 14 pupils and would cause a “disruption” if he got under their feet. Wow, that's just downright disgusting. Imagine taking away someone's opportunity and also crushing them at the same time! He said, “We are supposed to have equality of opportunity, yet I'm not allowed to do something I love doing. They said I would be a health and safety risk and disruption to the other students and get in their way, which was really humiliating. It really has dented my confidence. How am I ever supposed to get the culinary skills that's going to get me a job in a catering environment?” We all know and love Gordon Ramsay as the hilariously brutal food critic on Twitter, but today one his tweets stood apart as being an incredible gesture. Someone brought Louis' story to his attention and he had the best response. @GordonRamsay Shame on Heart of Worcester College for being too short sighted pic.twitter.com/QwIbm61iyK — Filomena (@immac64) August 28, 2018 Here's what he replied. Disgusting attitude, I'd offer him an Apprenticeship any day. https://t.co/xYdfWJ7CLK — Gordon Ramsay (@GordonRamsay) August 28, 2018 I agree, this is a disgusting attitude and I really do hope Gordon follows up with his offer and make someone's life. A lot of people in the replies urged him to come through and follow up. Call him gordon x — aiki (@COSMlC_GAYS) August 28, 2018 Exactly. Shame on Worcester college for discrimination of Differently able people. — uday naganath (@UdayNaganath) August 28, 2018 Everyone deserves a chance. Do it! He will make a great chef, and will be a fantastic apprentice simply because he has the passion to do it. I really hope you give this young man a chance, and learning from you he could have a stellar career ahead of him. — Russell Nicol (@russ_nicol) August 28, 2018 The best! Gordon Ramsay you are absolutely the best ð — çiÄdemâï¸ (@cdmkapukaya75) August 28, 2018 Someone came out with the receipts. Also just to add to my tweet I have seen the kitchen classrooms at Worcester campus one of the classrooms has its own sections/workstations with everything you need to cook, counters/sink/stove they could put him in his own workstation out of the way very easily, no excuse. — Jordan Leaman (@Mr_JordanL) August 28, 2018 Louis' mom said that the course leaders claimed it wouldn't make sense for her son to do the course since he would “never be allowed to work in a restaurant anyway”. She added, “This just goes to prove they are wrong if Gordon Ramsay is coming out in support. Louis is a huge fan of his and we would be very interested in speaking to his people if he is serious about it. It has made his day just getting his backing.” Well, hopefully everything works out for Louis.
  9. Remember the flame-thrower Elon Musk made? Well, customers have started receiving the $500 fiery beast last weekend and owners have already started using it for nefarious purposes. © The Boring Company The flame-thrower is being used by customers for various activities such as preparing donuts, cooking meat, lighting marijuana cigarettes and other activities. People took to social media with photographs of them carrying out these activities. Elon Musk had sold a very limited amount of flamethrowers in February, around 20,000 of them in order to raise money for the Boring Company's next venture. Musk managed to raise $10 million for his high-speed tunnel project thanks to this torch gun. The project is aiming to build a network of tunnels that will transport vehicles using electric skates. This project, if fruitful, is expected to reduce traffic on the surface. © Twitter Flamethrowers and its history are a bit dark, as it was once used in trench warfare in World War I. Firefighters also use flamethrowers for back-burning, a process that creates controlled burns in order to contain a fire by destroying wood preemptively. Here are some ridiculous things people are doing with Elon Musk's flamethrower. You knew this would happen! @elonmusk @RAWLIFE247 #NotAFlamethrower pic.twitter.com/iJgsZmkEDN — Maxamilian Demian (@Maxoplata) June 10, 2018 Somebody should warn these people that fire is not a thing you should play, as it is extremely unpredictable and will definitely cause harm to someone who isn't paying attention. If you're one those people who want to get a flamethrower of your own, you're out of luck and TBC is not making anymore anytime soon.
  10. Pop star Daler Mehndi, who was slapped with charges of human trafficking in 2003, was convicted today. He and his brother Shamsher Singh were sentenced to jail for 2 years after the verdict was announced. However, that is not the highlight of this whole situation. 11. Are you the kind of person who'd love to gorge on a good meal without lifting as much as a finger? Then you, my friend, have come to the right place. Honestly, the whole routine of 'ordering' food just needs to take a break at some point in your life. If cooking that chicken curry seems as complex as quantum physics, here are some cheat recipes you can wow yourself and your friends with. Bring out your pots and pans and let's get cookin'. 1. Spicy Chicken Fry Have it with your favourite chilled beer or with some dal and rice, this will most definitely be your new favourite chicken dish. You will need: .500 grams of boneless chicken .2 medium-sized onions .3 to 4 green chillies .Some curry leaves .Ginger and garlic paste .Chicken Kebab Masala .Curd .Oil .Salt to taste Prep time: 35 minutes How to make it: .First, cut the chicken into small chunks and place it in a bowl. Add some curd, 4 tablespoons of chicken kebab masala, 2 tablespoons of ginger and garlic paste, and some salt to the chicken and mix it well (make sure you add enough curd to soak the chicken just right!) Let the chicken marinate for about 10 minutes. Pro-tip: If you're not in a hurry, let the chicken marinate for about 1 hour. Trust me, this is a game changer!. To make your spicy chicken fry, add two tablespoons of oil to a deep bottom dish (a cooker would do, too!) and throw in your chopped onions, green chillies, and curry leaves. . Give it a quick stir and add in the marinated chicken and mix well. Close the lid (if you're using a cooker, skip the weight) and let the chicken cook in low flame in all the 'masaledar' juices for about 20 minutes. Keep checking and mixing the chicken in intervals of 5 to 8 minutes until all the marinade is absorbed. Garnish it with some coriander andyour spicy chicken fry is ready! 2. Mushroom and Baby Corn Stir-Fry If you like Chinese food, you'll LOVE this stir-fry! You will need: .1 medium sized onion .2 green chillies .A pack of mushrooms (make sure you clean the mushrooms in salt water before cooking them) .6 to 7 peeled baby corn .Ginger and garlic paste .Pepper .Soy sauce .Tomato Ketchup .Oil .Salt to taste Prep time: 25 minutes How to make it: .Add 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add in the chopped onions and green chillies. Once the onions turn translucent, add in the chopped baby corn and mushrooms along with a teaspoon of ginger and garlic paste, and mix them well. When the mushrooms begin wilting in the heat, add in half a cup of water along with a teaspoon of soy sauce and some ketchup to the mixture. Add pepper and salt according to your taste and let the veggies cook until the water dries up. Serve it on your fanciest plate and enjoy it as is or with some instant noodles! Pro-tip: Want to make your stir-fry more exotic? Add boiled broccoli and peas! 3. Shredded Chicken Roll Meet your new favourite snack! You will need: .Tandoori chicken or chicken tikka from your favourite restaurant .Rotis or chappatis .1 large onion .Coriander to garnish .Quarter portion of a cabbage (preferably the purple kind) .Tomato ketchup .Mayonnaise Prep time: 10 minutes How to make it: .Shred the chicken or cut it into small pieces (make sure to remove all the bones, you do not want a haddi in your roll!). Slice the onion and cabbage and place them in cups. Take a chappati or roti and smear tomato ketchup and mayonnaise as required. Add the sliced onions, cabbage, and the shredded chicken and garnish it with some coriander. Roll up the chappati or roti and go to town on them. Pro-tip: If you want a desi twist, add some pudina chutney! 4. Tacos with an Indian Twist Got some friends visiting? Impress them with this lip-smacking yet easy to make snack. You will need: For fajita veggies: .2 large capsicums (the yellow and red kind) .1 large onion .Half a packet of mushrooms .Fajita seasoning .Oil .Salt to taste For tacos: .Taco shells and taco salsa (you can find them at your nearest supermarket) .Tandoori chicken or paneer tikka from your favourite restaurant .Cheese (preferably cheddar or mozzarella) .Fajita veggies .Cream .1 cup of jeera rice (this is optional) Prep time: 20 minutes How to make it: .If you have some left over jeera rice, this recipe will come together in mere minutes. Begin by making the fajita veggies. Add a tablespoon of oil on a pan. .Once the oil heats up add sliced onions and capsicums and slightly toss them in the pan. Next, add 2 tablespoons of the fajita seasoning and mix them with the veggies along with some salt and watch the seasoning work its magic. .Add the thinly sliced mushrooms to this mix and keep tossing the veggies until the mushrooms shrink. Voila! Your fajita veggies are done. .Our next step would be to put together the taco. First take a taco shell and add some jeera rice. Layer it with some taco salsa followed by the fajita veggies. .Add some cut up tandoori chicken or paneer tikka from your favourite restaurant followed by some cream. Top it all off with some cheese and your desi taco is ready to be served! Pro-tip: Want to take this to the next level? Crush some taco shells on a plate. Top it with freshly chopped onions and tomatoes, jeera rice, fajita veggies, tandoori chicken or paneer tikka, a dollop of cream, and loads of cheese. Tadaa! You just made some lazy man's nachos. 5. Cheese Stuffed Omelette This recipe is so easy that you can nail it with your eyes closed. You will need: .Two eggs .Some grated cheese (cheddar preferably; cheese slices will work too!) .Oregano .Chilli flakes .Salt .Pepper .Oil Prep time: 15 minutes How to make it: .Break open the eggs in a mug. Add salt and pepper to the raw eggs and beat well until the egg whites and yolk are mixed well. .In a pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil and spread it evenly. Once the pan is hot, pour the egg mixture on to the pan and tilt it to spread the eggs evenly. .When the omelette begins to cook and is firm on the bottom, place some grated cheese or a cheese slice on one side of the omelette. .Sprinkle some oregano and chilli flakes on to the cheese (I'm sure you'll have some from your last pizza delivery) and use a spatula to fold the omelette. Press the spatula on the folded omelette to make sure it does not flip open and the ends stick. .Flip the omelette to make sure its cooked evenly. Once done, plate your omelette and enjoy it with a slice of toast and chai. Pro-tip: While sprinkling the cheese, add diced tomatoes and onions to make your omelette more drool-worthy. 6. Chicken Pasta Arrabiata This may not be the most authentic way to cook pasta, but it's still pretty DELISH! You will need: .2 medium-sized onions .2 medium-sized tomatoes .100 grams of chicken breast .1 packet of mushrooms .2 medium sized capsicums .250 grams of penne pasta .Arrabiata pasta sauce .Pepper .Chilli flakes .Salt .Olive oil Prep time: 30 mins How to make it: .Start by boiling 250 grams of penne pasta as per the packet instructions and keep it aside. .Give the chicken breast a good wash and cut it into small pieces. Next, drizzle some olive oil in a pot. Once the oil is hot, add in chopped onions, thinly sliced mushrooms and capsicums. Let the veggies cook for about two minutes and add in the chicken pieces. .When the chicken looks slightly cooked, add the chopped tomatoes and mix well. Once the tomatoes are soft, add two tablespoons of the arrabiata pasta sauce and mix it well with chicken and the veggies. .Add half a cup of water, 1 tablespoon of cream, salt, pepper, and chilli flakes and let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes. After this, add your cooked penne pasta to the sauce and mix it all together. Your pasta is now ready to be served! Make sure to sprinkle some oregano and parmesan cheese over your pasta before serving. Pro-tip: Spread some butter over slices of bread, add a slice of cheese and oregano, and make a cheese toast. My grandfather was a chef, so when I was young I was deciding what I wanted to be in my life. I thought I wanted to be an engineer like my dad. So I used to study Physics and Chemistry when I was growing up. And then I got to see what my granddad was doing and he always seemed very happy. He loved people, enjoyed what he did. He obviously cooked beautiful things and I was kind of leaning towards that. Then I got a job on the weekend at a local hotel when I was 16 and then I got hooked on to cooking. I loved the excitement of the kitchen and obviously making delicious things helped. © Star World What Does Gary Mehigan's Spice Box Consist Of? One of my favourite spices is the green cardamom (laughs), coriander, fennel seeds, I love black pepper too. Then I love fresh aromatic curry leaves, I have got a plant of it. I had a few but I try to forget them. But I remember that once a long time ago, I was cooking for a wedding and I had put 150 portions of fish inside the oven. And then the fan went off so I got distracted. And I just forgot the fish, so instead of cooking it for 8 minutes, I cooked it for 25 minutes which totally ruined all of the 150 portions. Very expensive mistake! But luckily we had enough portion left for the function and we could recook again but if we hadn't, it would be an utter disaster with hundred and fifty people with no food. I have been cooking for 35 years and I have made many mistakes but it becomes a part of learning things and making it better. A good mistake is a quick one and a cheap one. 14. Boxer Amir Khan. Photo: The Mirror Pakistani-British boxer Amir Khan is back in news. We heaved a sigh of relief after the chaos in his personal life finally ended when the boxer and wife, Faryal Makhdoom, waved the white flag last month, but it seems like Amir can?t seem to stay away from stirring controversy. The latest statements from Khan, who is participating in the reality show I?m A Celebrity? Get Me Out of Here!, have stirred a toxic controversy and left the public scandalised. In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, the 30-year-old said that once he comes home from work, it?s his wife?s job to cook for him. ?I would never cook,? said Khan. ?In my culture, women, that?s their job to do the cooking. They?re best at cooking.? It could have stopped there, but he had more to add. ?It?s a man?s job to actually do other jobs like the hard work, the hard labour jobs around the house.? ?Doing housework is harder,? the interviewer argued, ?I would not get as tired on my job as I do when I work at home. Until you don?t do it for yourself, you won?t realise how hard that is.? To which Khan replied, ?I?ve got a dishwasher, washing machine, I?ve never actually known how to use these things. I would never touch those machinery, ever. You would turn into a woman. I?m a man. If I started dishwashing ?? A woman had to take up sanity?s cause. She interrupted the boxer and asked, ?If you use the machine, you would turn into a woman?? Amir then said, ?Yeah.? And Twitter can?t handle it!

  17. Angelina Jolie pictured with her kids Zahara and Shiloh in 2015 LOS ANGELES: Angelina Jolie has put movie-making on hold to become a better mom, take cooking classes and do ordinary tasks like picking up dog poop. In an interview with Vanity Fair released on Wednesday, the actress said life after splitting in September from husband Brad Pitt was focused on looking after her health and her children. "I actually feel more of a woman because I feel like I'm being smart about my choices, and I'm putting my family first, and I'm in charge of my life and my health. I think that's what makes a woman complete," Jolie said. Her latest film as a director, "First They Killed My Father," about the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s, under which more than 1 million people died, had its premiere in Cambodia in February. It is due to be released globally and on Netflix in September. Apart from promoting the film, Jolie said she had no interest in working on another movie right now. She has primary custody of her six children with Pitt pending a final settlement of their divorce. "I'm just wanting to make the proper breakfast and keep the house," she told Vanity Fair. Jolie said the children had been "very brave" since the split from Brad Pitt "That's my passion. At the request of my kids, I'm taking cooking classes. As I go to sleep at night, I think, 'Did I do a great job as a mom or was that an average day?'" "I've been trying for nine months to be really good at just being a homemaker and picking up dog poop and cleaning dishes and reading bedtime stories," she said. "And I'm getting better at all three." Jolie, 42, a special envoy for the United Nations refugee agency, said the children had been "very brave" since the split from Pitt. "They're six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals. I'm very proud of them. They've been very brave. They were very brave," she said. Jolie revealed that she had developed hypertension, and Bell's Palsy - a weakness in facial muscles that can cause one side of the face to droop slightly - since the separation from Pitt, but had recovered thanks to acupuncture. Jolie's interview appears in the September issue of Vanity Fair, out on newsstands on Aug. 8.

  19. Photo: File Italy's highest court ruled on Friday that lobsters must not be kept on ice in restaurant kitchens because it causes them unjustifiable suffering before they head for death by fine dining. Judges accepted a complaint by an animal rights group against the owner of a restaurant near Florence who kept live crustaceans on ice, ordering him to pay a 2,000 euro fine ($5,593) and a further 3,000 euros in legal fees. Upholding a sentence by a lower court, the Cassation court ruled that the fact that lobsters are usually cooked while still alive does not mean they can be mistreated beforehand. "While the particular method of cooking can be considered legal by recognizing that it is commonly used, the suffering caused by detaining the animals while they wait to be cooked cannot be justified in that way," the judges wrote. Rather than keeping lobsters and other crustaceans refrigerated, the court said it was already common practice in high-level restaurants and even supermarkets to keep them in oxygenated water tanks at room temperature. 20. Screen grab of the substandard oil being discarded by PFA officials LAHORE: A factory where animal fat was being used to produce cooking oil was sealed and two perpetrators arrested late Saturday night. Teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), led by its director-general Noorul Amin Mengal, raided the factory while operations were under way there and seized 14,000 litres of the substandard oil. PFA officials said the oil was being prepared ? mostly at night to avoid suspicion ? in huge quantities to cater to the ?Ramazan demand?. Two people were arrested and an FIR has been registered, the officials informed. The officials further stated that records of sales and supply of raw material have also been confiscated so as to nab all those involved in the scam. In January this year, the PFA raided a cooking oil production factory and sealed it after discovering questionable processes and unhealthy elements in its products. A total of 50,000 litres of cooking oil was confiscated from the factory after it was found that chicken waste was being used to manufacture the product. The oil was said to be under use in a number of hotels in the city.
