  3. A few weeks back it was revealed that Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has joined Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The actor himself confirmed in an interview with Film Companion that he had shot for the upcoming Disney+ MCU series Ms Marvel. Now, another Pakistani actor is all set to go international with a popular Netflix Original. According to Variety, noted Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed has been cast in a pivotal role in season five of The Crown. Saeed will be seen playing the role of Dr Hasnat Khan, a British-Pakistani heart surgeon who was in a relationship with Princess Diana as he claimed in a statement submitted to Metropolitan Police. © Netflix As soon as the news of his casting was out, celebs like Ali Zafar and Mahira Khan expressed excitement and congratulated him. Ali wrote, “So happy to hear the good news @iamhumayunsaeed. Truly deserve it.” Mahira, who has worked with Humayun in Bin Roye tweeted, “Finaaaallly it’s out!!!! So proud! So excited!!! MashAllah mashAllah Partying faceSparklesDizzy symbol Nazar amuletPalms up togetherHeart suit What a show! What a star :) @iamhumayunsaeed @TheCrownNetflix”. So happy to hear the good news @iamhumayunsaeed. Truly deserve it. — Ali Zafar (@AliZafarsays) January 9, 2022Finaaaallly it’s out!!!! So proud! So excited!!! MashAllah mashAllah What a show! What a star :) @iamhumayunsaeed @TheCrownNetflix — Mahira Khan (@TheMahiraKhan) January 9, 2022However, a lot of Pakistanis weren’t happy with the casting. They took to social media to not only express disappointment for choosing Humayun over Fawad but also trolled the actor for his English speaking skills. One user wrote, “He ll have to learn to speak proper English. Otherwise, he ll look like a flop in this role. I think Fawad khan should play this role.” Another tweeted, “Told my dad Humayun Saeed will be playing Dr. Hasnat. He says Dr. Hasnat was his junior in med school and he was “ridiculously handsome” so they should “reconsider” this casting. Like okay dad I’ll let Netflix know??” One tweet read, “ok maybe fawad khan wouldn’t have suited the role or whatever idk but iska yeh matlab nahin ke sirf humayun saeed reh gaya tha?” © Instagram/Fawad Khan There were others who wondered if Humayun will be seen doing bold scenes and how Pakistanis will react to them, “The biggest concern of Pakistanis right now should be if Humayun Saeed will do bold scenes?” One person tweeted, “Will Humayun Saeed get cancelled and called a man wh*re if he makes out on the show or will the duality of this nation prevail? Stay tuned to find out.” There were also others who defended the casting. Take a look at some of the tweets below: He ll have to learn to speak proper English. Otherwise, he ll look like a flop in this role. I think Fawad khan should play this role. — Dr.Erum Banday (@DrErumBanday) January 9, 2022How could they pick humayun saeed over fawad khan — (@vordwomitt) January 9, 2022It's funny seeing how it hasn't been a day for the news about Humayun Saeed got confirmed and we have our beloved Pakistani people already whining about the accent, his English speaking abilities, his acting, his looks. Then we complain we don't get proper rep in western media. — . (@AimmySays) January 10, 2022stop hating humayun saeed being casted as dr hasnat in the crown. let me tell you why it’s good: 1) apt casting of a pakistani actor than person of another race 2) fawad khan or any other counterpart is too hot to fit in the role 3) he finally plays a middle aged man that he is — maryam (@maryamful) January 10, 2022ok maybe fawad khan wouldn’t have suited the role or whatever idk but iska yeh matlab nahin ke sirf humayun saeed reh gaya tha? — M (@roomiyoomi) January 9, 2022BREAKING: humayun saeed plays a character his own age https://t.co/p0uoctepXt — ♡ (@_robpatt) January 9, 2022The biggest concern of Pakistanis right now should be if Humayun Saeed will do bold scenes? — Zain Raza (@smzrz) January 9, 2022Kahan Fawad Khan aur kahan Humayun Saeed. — Nuzhat. (@guldaar) January 9, 2022Will Humayun Saeed get cancelled and called a man whore if he makes out on the show or will the duality of this nation prevail? Stay tuned to find out. — Ushnaa (@Lanaschild_) January 10, 2022Great news, Humayun Saeed will for the first time ever play the role of a middle aged man. — Waqas (@worqas) January 10, 2022Told my dad Humayun Saeed will be playing Dr. Hasnat. He says Dr. Hasnat was his junior in med school and he was “ridiculously handsome” so they should “reconsider” this casting. Like okay dad I’ll let Netflix know?? — Noor (@NoorHSumra) January 9, 2022Loving Humayun Saeed’s new role which isn’t a 50 year old teenager — AS (@duskafterburner) January 9, 2022You whine about representation and when it's there, you whine about it not being your preferred one. Differentiate between hate and criticism. Humayun Saeed has over the years showed us his acting prowess. Deserves this role, I wish him good luck, can't wait to watch him there. https://t.co/9tkYyVRKuA — Shamyl | شمائل (@thatsadshamyl) January 10, 2022Why are so many people hating on Humayun Saeed rather than celebrating his success? What am i missing? Isn’t it great that some of our local stars are paving the way for international projects? There’s hardly an representation as it is, especially on Netflix. — Kanwal Ahmed (@kanwalful) January 10, 2022Who cares if it's Fawad Khan or Humayun Saeed playing Hasnat Khan. Atleast Pakistan got it's first representation on Netflix. How would we have liked if The Crown did a SquidGames on us and got an Indian to play a Pakistani's role? Roz nayaa manjan chaahiye larne ko.smh — LadySaga (@NakviTazi) January 9, 2022 Besides starring in a number of popular Pakistani films and TV shows, Humayun Saeed also made his Bollywood debut with the 2009 musical Jashnn alongside Adhyayan Suman, Anjana Sukhani and Shahana Goswami. The film was backed by Mahesh Bhatt. View the full article

  5. India has been severely hit by the second wave of the novel Coronavirus and it’s disturbing to see how people are struggling to secure basic medical facilities for their loved ones who've been affected by the virus. It’s sad that even state governments and the entire health care infrastructure are almost crippled. Farhan Akhtar who has always been vocal about his opinions on social media and often gets trolled because of them, has expressed his opinions about the government once again. Farhan took to Twitter to share that he is upset with the fact that people can’t criticize the government despite being in a democratic setup. He wrote, “First you couldn’t criticize the government. Then you couldn’t criticize any government policy. Then you couldn’t criticize their lack of any policy to tackle Covid. Now you can’t criticize cow dung. Next..??” View the full article
  6. After the second ODI in Sydney, Sanjay Manjrekar, in an interview with The Hindu talked about why he would never have players like Ravindra Jadeja in his team if he was the selector. He would also throw in Hardik Pandya’s name in the mix as he didn’t like their “kind of cricketers” in white-ball cricket. View this post on Instagram Essentially, Manjrekar expressed a problem with having all-rounders in the roster, especially in limited overs cricket and preferred having specialists (thoroughbred batsmen and bowlers) over them. “My selection and thoughts are based on a principle that I have learnt over the years: if you have specialists who can walk in based on one discipline, you fill your team with those players. I do not have a problem with Jadeja; I have a problem with his kind of cricketers in white-ball cricket. Even Hardik Pandya will not be in my team. They add illusionary value to the team. Of course, I have always rated Jadeja highly in the Test format,” he said in the interview with The Hindu. Looks like both Pandya and Jadeja heard Manjrekar’s comments and decided to act upon it with the middle-order duo building a 150-run partnership. View this post on Instagram While Jadeja scored a blazing 66 in just 50 deliveries, Pandya smashed 92 in 76 to win the Man of the Match award and save their side from facing a humiliating white-wash series defeat. So, if the final match between India and Australia proved anything, it was that former Indian cricketer and cricket analyst Sanjay Manjrekar has the unique ability to bring back players to form by criticising them. View this post on Instagram Here are five more players we’d like Manjrekar to do the same to please: 1. Jasprit Bumrah View this post on Instagram Even though Bumrah showed glimpses of his dominating self during the third match, he has not been as imposing as he was during India’s 2019 World Cup campaign. The long break in his career due to a stress fracture in the back definitely took a toll on him. We’d request Mr.Manjrekar to kindly say a few not-so-kind words about the pacer and give him the opportunity to prove him wrong. 2. Rishabh Pant View this post on Instagram If today were December 03, 2018 the fans of the Indian cricket team would have been cheering for Rishabh Pant as if he was our next Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He played heroic innings, grabbed some difficult catches behind the wicket, trolled and sledged his opponents and even played a huge role in India’s very first Test series win Down Under. However 2019 was not kind to the young athlete and the public quickly turned against him based on some heavy bad form and bad DRS calls. It’d be great if Mr. Manjrekar could also attach a catchy negative phrase to Pant’s name like ‘bits and pieces’ that might anger the Roorkee-born and motivate him to get back in form. 3. Prithvi Shaw View this post on Instagram A good debut, a long stint away from the team due to injuries and the unluckiest ‘drug-abuse’ ban, and one horrible IPL season… that’s pretty much Prithvi Shaw’s career till now. For someone once referred to as the childhood version of Sachin Tendulkar, that career trajectory doesn’t seem promising and might be in desperate need of some non-constructive criticism by one Sanjay Manjrekar. It may very well be Shaw’s last hope. 4. Yuzvendra Chahal View this post on Instagram Although Chahal has been a great asset for any team he’s played for in the recent past, be it the Men in Blue or Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, the kind of beating he took in the ODI series against the Aussies can scar a bowler for a long time. Let’s just throw in some negativity from Manjrekar’s side towards Chahal just as a safety net. We wouldn’t want our best spinner to get into bad form or anything, right? 5. Virat Kohli View this post on Instagram While Virat Kohli, the batsman did play a couple of decent innings during the ODIs, Virat Kohli, the captain has come under fire for mismanaging his bowlers, screwing up the batting order, and looking helpless in the middle when players like Steve Smith, David Warner and Aaron Finch were ripping apart his bowling attack one by one. And even though some of the leading critics like Gautam Gambhir have already done their bit, the space feels empty without a zinger by Manjrekar. The others by other experts may fall on deaf ears but Manjrekar’s criticism clearly seems to irk other players, maybe it will leave a mark on the skipper as well. View the full article

  11. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Asif tweeted on Friday that Pakistan Peoples Party supremo should refrain from criticising Nawaz Sharif as reaction on their statements from his party would hurt the 'political community' of the country. Asif's statement has come in backdrop of PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari's refusal to meet PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's constant disparagement against the ruling party. The foreign minister said Zardari and his son should not taunt on Nawaz Sharif, let us remain silent, even our dignity doesn?t allow us to respond to him. "Zardari is a wise politician. He understands all indications. May Allah keep him happy," he said. Zardari refused to meet former prime minister Nawaz, foiling the latter?s attempts for a meeting for the fourth time within three months. The PPP leader, rejecting once again the possibility of any contact with Nawaz, was quoted by sources as saying that the former prime minister ?only remembers democratic promises where his interests are concerned?. ?Nawaz Sharif is responsible for the current political situation of the country. Meeting him or shaking his hand is [out of the question],? the PPP co-chairperson remarked. Nawaz does not understand meaning of ideology: Bilawal Nawaz has been a part of all conspiracies against democracy in Pakistan, he remarked Earlier, Nawaz, while speaking to Geo News said that he is willing to have an unconditional dialogue with the PPP supremo. However, Zardari has reiterated his position time and again. Meanwhile, Bilawal slammed the PML-N leader by saying that he doesn?t even understand the meaning of ideology. Bilawal was taking a jibe at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz?s claimed that Nawaz Sharif is not a person but an ideology. PPP chair pointed out that Nawaz is being opportunistic by changing his position and statements to favour himself. ?Mian Nawaz Sharif sahab doesn?t understand the meaning of ideology. You can't change your position for your own purposes,? he said while speaking to media on Thursday. He went on to further criticise the PML-N head and said that Nawaz has been a part of all conspiracies against democracy in Pakistan. ?Mian Nawaz Sharif sahab is a threat to democracy.?
  12. LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, while addressing a workers' convention in Lahore on Thursday, lashed out at his political opponents; Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif. On Imran, he said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief does not know anything else apart from criticising his opponents. He also remarked that Imran has apologised again while referring to Imran's apology to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which was submitted earlier in the day. Someone whose own stories are so famous, what can we expect from his Naya Pakistan, remarked Zardari. ECP accepts Imran?s apology, concludes contempt of court cases PTI Chairman Imran Khan had been summoned by the ECP over his contemptuous remarks The PPP co-chair also asked Imran regarding his source of income and alleged that Imran is paying for his family's expenses using funds from Shaukhat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. Criticising PTI's governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zardari said that he has not seen any tabdeeli [change] in the province except for one bridge. While referring to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif, Zardari referred to him as a "paper tiger", who is hiding away in London. Zardari, during the convention, slammed VIP treatment received by Nawaz and his family. Bailable warrants of arrests have been issued against Sharif family but not for Sharjeel Memon, he remarked. "The prince and princess appear before the court, surrounding by 40 cars and are issued bailed the same day," he remarked while speaking about Nawaz's daughter, Maryam Nawaz, and son-in-law, Captain (retd) Safdar. "This never used to happen with me, rather I was arrested first and cases were registered against me later." Speaking about the economy of the country, he urged that efforts need to be made to make Pakistan an "agro-export" economy. The policies of the PML-N government are taking us towards "forceful default," he said, adding that if Pakistan defaults on loans then the International Monetary Fund will place further restrictions on Pakistan. As a result of these restrictions, Pakistan Army's budget might get cut. "We will not allow this to happen," he added.
  13. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry has expressed satisfaction with the way things are proceeding in the accountability court hearing corruption cases against the Sharif family. Speaking to Geo News on Monday after Nawaz's hearing, he said he wonders whether the interior minister is a police officer that he went to the court today. Similarly, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the interior minister should not threaten to resign and instead just resign. PTI?s Babar Awan said Iqbal needs to identify clearly "the state within a state". He said either the Nawaz government will remain or the rule of law. Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed said that from today, the 120-day countdown has begun. Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party?s senior leader Nisar Khuhro demanded a clarification on the Rangers? issue. He said the presence of Rangers outside the accountability court shows the weakness of the government. He said it is against principles of politics for Nawaz Sharif to lead the party.

Imran was addressing the social award ceremony in Lahore. ?The government?s ministers time and again criticise the hospital,? said Imran, adding that if there are any concerns they should be investigated. ?Our hospital?s accounts are online,? said the PTI chief. The government didn?t make other institutes for the treatment of cancer. While referring to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif?s wife Kulsoom Nawaz, the PTI chief wished her a speedy recovery. Kulsoom Nawaz also went abroad for the treatment, remarked Imran. On August 23, Maryam Nawaz Sharif had revealed that her mother Kulsoom Nawaz was diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes on the left side of her neck. PTI chief presents Shaukat Khanum hospital for accountability The PTI chairman threatened street protests if prime minister is not held accountable Begum Kulsoom Nawaz left for London unexpectedly on August 17 for a medical checkup ? on the day when her nomination papers for NA-120 were accepted amid political hype.
