Why Skin Experts Suggest Cutting Down On Dairy Products For Better Skin
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
If you have ever struggled with skin problems and went to a dermat, chances are they suggested you to avoid certain unhealthy foods like sugar, fried snacks and sodas. However, there is one food item that is considered super healthy (that’s what our mom has been telling us) but is actually bad for skin, according to skin experts. It’s dairy products like milk. © istock We got in touch with Dr Sushma Yadav, Dermatologist, Cosmetologist, Hair Transplant Surgeon and Founder of Skinology, Bangalore to bust this myth. She says, “Recent studies add to mounting evidence that what you eat can determine your skin health. Talking about dairy in specific, while it’s been advised that dairy products play a vital role in developing/ exaggerating skin conditions such as acne, the current evidence is actually very limited.” View this post on Instagram She also stresses that dairy can be a trigger to some, but not all acne is caused by it. Talking about how dairy products worsen skin issues, here are all the deets from the skin expert herself. 1. Can Make Skin More OilyDairy products are full of casein and whey protein and a lot of artificial hormones which are expected to increase levels of insulin-like growth factor-1, or IGF-1 that is linked with increased production of sebum, the oily substance produced by our skin, which ultimately can lead to acne. © istock 2. Increases Insulin When we intake dairy products with other substances such as processed foods or sugars, it disrupts our insulin levels. The higher our insulin levels, the more prone we are to infection and inflammation. This eventually leads to uneven skin, acne, other skin disorders like acanthosis nigricans, amyloidosis, pigmentation, xerosis(dryness). Dairy products like milk, soya milk butter, cheese, paneer may be a regular part of most people's life but indigestion of dairy can lead to high levels of insulin. © istock 3. Lactose In Milk Causes ProblemsPeople with intolerance or allergy towards lactose can suffer from inflammatory reactions like irregular skin texture and mess up overall skin health by disrupting the skin barrier and causing skin sensitivity. © istock Not everyone’s skin issues arise due to dairy consumption but it can definitely aggravate any underlying condition. Of course, we all have different bodies that react differently to the same products so what might suit one person can be harmful for other individuals. It is also important to remember that not all dairy products show a negative effect on our skin. For example, normal milk and milk chocolates can have a negative impact on the skin and cause acne but fermented dairy, such as kefir and live yoghurt, curd, cottage cheese and cheese are actually quite healthy and do wonders for skin. © istock That being said, topical application of milk products like malai and raw milk on skin is totally fine and has many benefits for skin. Gone are the days when cricket used to be a gentleman's game. Irrespective of their nationality, players these days don’t shy away from sledging their opponents even one bit. They like to be in the face of the opposition all the time, which makes for an exciting watch for fans all around the world. View this post on Instagram But sometimes players get too carried away in the heat of the moment and let everybody down through their on-field behaviours. There is a very thin line between aggression and arrogance and we expect players to honour that every time they step onto the field. © Twitter CPL See I’m not saying players are not allowed to make mistakes. No boddy in this world is perfect. We all make mistakes. This is what makes us human. But the problem starts when people stop learning from their mistakes. View this post on Instagram The point is everything looks good only up to a certain limit. This excessive aggression not just hampers their own image but also maligns the whole sport by portraying it in a bad light. The latest example was the incident involving Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting and Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir during a Pakistan Super League game between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Both the seasoned campaigners have a long history against each other and on Tuesday night they once again reignited their nearly four-year-old rivalry that began during the 2018 Caribbean Premier League. The entire Sohail Tanvir vs Ben Cutting battle. From 2018 to 2022. pic.twitter.com/XuV18PyiZ3 — Haroon (@hazharoon) February 15, 2022 During the match, the Peshawar Zalmi all-rounder smashed Tanvir for four maximums in an over and celebrated by giving the pacer double middle-finger salute. View this post on Instagram Tanvir had the last laugh as it was his catch on the first ball of the final over of the innings that brought his blistering cameo of 37 runs off just 14 balls to an end. As Cutting began marching back to the pavilion, Tanvir treated him with a double middle-finger salute. How did it begin?Cutting hit a few sixes against Tanvir in 2018 CPL then Tanvir got the wicket of Cutting, he celebrated by showing the middle finger - In 2022 PSL, Cutting hit a few sixes against Tanvir and he showed middle finger later Tanvir caught Cutting and he showed middle finger again. pic.twitter.com/4GhjSbJ1YS — Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) February 15, 2022 Their rivalry began during the 2018 CPL when Tanvir and Cutting came face to face against each other while playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots respectively. In that match, Tanvir had shown the Australian middle-fingers with both hands after taking his wicket through a toe-crushing yorker. This reaction was a result of what had happened earlier in the game. Cutting had smacked a six and Tanvir couldn’t digest that. View this post on Instagram Since they are considered to be role models, it’s their duty to set the right examples for the young kids who idolise them and aspire to become like them. Tanvir and Cutting were so high on their ego trip that they perhaps didn’t realise that the whole world was watching them. What’s worse was that it wasn’t a one-off incident. View the full article

Men are conditioned to bottle up their feelings since childhood and when and if they do express how they feel, they are labelled 'whiny', a 'coward' or ‘not man enough’. This is one of the many reasons that men’s mental health goes unacknowledged and undiagnosed, let alone untreated. © Excel Entertainment However, with the conversation around men’s mental health picking the pace, more people are taking it seriously and making efforts to improve their mental health instead of brushing it off under the carpet. Someone on Reddit asked men who have come out stronger this year, what they did that helped their mental wellbeing. © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Here is what men had to say about their experiences and how they successfully battled poor mental health with some healthy little things they did: 1. Letting Go Of Toxic People © iStock “Came to terms that I'm not good enough for some people anymore and if they wanted to go...it was time I let them go. There's only so much I can realistically control in my own life/world and I'm trying to come to terms with that rather than ignore it. Most important of all...I made a really good friend.” 2. Quitting A Draining Job“Quit the job I've worked in for 10 years that did nothing but make me miserable” 3. Picking Up A Healthy Routine“Started exercising consistently, taking cold showers, and mediating.” 4. Taking A Break © iStock “Took a gap year before getting into uni to heal a bit from depression, decided that animation was what I wanted to do rather than being a doctor so that's good.” 5. Social Media Detox“Deactivated Facebook.” 6. Realising Self-Worth“I decided to learn how to actually believe in myself in a healthy manner. Of course, it's a long way ahead of me but I'm so glad that I finally started. Also decided not to be so hard on myself. I wish the best for you all, lets keep up the good work.” 7. Seeking Help © iStock “Started in-person talk therapy. Getting heard, gaining perspective and learning new tools was incredible for my personal growth and mental health. Everyone could benefit from trying it at least once.” View the full article
