  2. One thing that keeps the revellers worried at the time of Holi is how to keep their skin and hair safe from harsh colours. While most of us know what to do post-Holi, we usually miss out on how to prep the skin and hair before the festival. Here are some amazing products that ensure minimum damage and let you enjoy the day 1. Face Oil__ECOMPRODUCT__921__ Applying face oils is a part of the pre-Holi regime. Don't forget to use it on your neck as well as your ears so that the harsh colours don't get lodged inside. Dry skin can absorb chemical colours and lead to irritation but when you use a face oil, it can help keep your skin feel hydrated. This Thyme organic oil includes 14 amazing ingredients that can penetrate deep into the skin, giving you healthy and supple skin. 2. Use Sunscreen__ECOMPRODUCT__911__ Never take sunscreen lightly as it is one of the best products to use for Holi. The thicker the texture, the better it is for your skin. Use an SPF 30+ sunscreen to stay safe and apply a generous amount on your skin. You can opt for a water-based or a gel-based one as it can help the colours slide off easily. Take Fizzy Ferns Sunscreen, for example, which is made with an ayurvedic formulation that can protect your skin from harsh UVA and UVB rays. 3. A Good Amount Of Face & Body Lotion__ECOMPRODUCT__671__ Before you play Holi, you also need a good dose of moisturiser for your face and body. Since your skin will be exposed to chemical colours, the moisturiser will not let it get absorbed into your skin and will make it easier to wash it off later. In this case, a perfect product is a MensXP face and body lotion, which is apt for oily and combination skin. Made with Vanilla clay and jojoba oil, this one is non-sticky and will help get rid of Holi colours faster. 4. Oil Your Hair__ECOMPRODUCT__1207__ Hair can turn dull and brittle due to the synthetic dyes present in the colours. Hence, you need a good champi as part of your pre-Holi regime. Apply the hair oil and then step out to play Holi. When you are back, the colours will come off easily. Opt for this natural red onion hair oil that is made to strengthen your hair follicles and improve your scalp health as well. 5. Use A Lip Balm__ECOMPRODUCT__1092__ While your skin and hair need protection from colours, even your lips need to be protected. When you use a chapstick, it will act as a barrier and protect your lips from harsh colours. Apply a good amount of lip balm every day so that your lips are hydrated enough and the colours don't stick to your lips. View the full article
  3. The summers are almost here and we are already dreading what the harsh sun will do to our skin. From causing premature aging to hyperpigmentation, sun exposure can have long lasting and drastic effects on our skin. However, this kind of sun damage can always be prevented. Here’s an easy and convenient nighttime skincare routine for men that will help you reverse most of the damage and prevent further sun damage. After all, your skin deserves it! Step 1: Cleanse It goes without saying that cleansing your face before bed is extremely important, especially if you’ve been out and about the entire day. Cleansing also ensures that all the products that you’re about to use get well absorbed into your skin. Make sure to pick a face wash based on your skin type. The MensXP Mud Natural Face Wash has two variants. One for oily and combination skin and another for normal and dry skin. __ECOMPRODUCT__41__ Step 2: Toner A toner helps in clearing and minimising pores. This face toner by Paul Penders is one of the best toners for men. It has a blend of 22 organic herbs and helps in replenishing the skin. It’s suitable for all skin types and helps in soothing and tightening the skin. __ECOMPRODUCT__1226__ Step 3: Night Serum A serum is a concentrated formula enriched with active ingredients that our skin needs but doesn’t always get. If aging is not an issue for your skin, you can use this Restorative Night Serum by Bare Air. It has Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Mulberry extracts. These ingredients help in hydrating and nourishing your skin overnight. __ECOMPRODUCT__308__ If you’re a man in his late 20s, we recommend that you start using anti-aging products as a preventative measure for your skin. You can use this Retinol Serum by Mensome, or any other retinol serum of your choice. It helps in reducing fine lines, wrinkles and skin discolouration. It also causes the skin to be sensitive towards the sun, so make sure to use retinol during nighttime only. __ECOMPRODUCT__312__ Step 4: Night Cream Hydration is extremely important if you want your skin to look and feel youthful. This night cream by Greenberry Organics is formulated using almond, peppermint, rose and lavender oils, which help in keeping the skin plump and hydrated. It also contains cocoa and shea butter, which help in regenerating and rejuvenating your skin while you get a good night’s rest. __ECOMPRODUCT__1227__ Step 5: Eye Cream The skin around our eyes is very sensitive and starts showing signs of aging earlier than other parts of our face. This is why it's important to use an eye cream after a long day of sun exposure. This particular Under Eye Recovery Gel by Fizzy Fern is highly rich in antioxidants. It helps in reducing fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. Remember to be gentle while using this product. Dot it evenly around the eyes and massage gently until absorbed. __ECOMPRODUCT__607__ The Bottomline This skincare routine can be followed by anyone who has to be out in the sun for long hours. Alongside practising this routine, also ensure that you are always wearing sunscreen. It’s important to not only treat sun damage but also to prevent further damage. 4. Nothing is quite as satisfactory as a nice long shower , after a horrible day at work. Well it's been a while since most of us stopped going to work and haven't resumed since, but that doesn't mean that our days have stopped being horrible, right? I know you're thinking #RelateMax right now. But what if I told you even in the shower, you're doing something wrong that will come back to bite you in the, well, bottom? via GIPHY As much as we love our showers and reserve every right to do whatever we want to in there (clean your minds, I know what you're thinking, stop), there are a few things we end up doing that are causing irreversible damage to our skin and hair in the long run. It's scary, I know, but that's where we come in. via GIPHY Let's just get straight to the point then. Here are 10 showering mistakes most of you are unknowingly committing every single day, that you should stop immediately. via GIPHY 1. Please stop washing your hair every single day. By that, we mean go easy on the shampoo. For most people, shampooing thrice a week is more than enough, and using it every day just causes more harm. Using shampoo daily would strip your scalp off natural oils and make it dry, thereby potentially triggering or worsening a dandruff issue because of dryness. via GIPHY If you hit the gym daily and feel that you NEED to wash your hair no matter what, do that, but just stand under the shower and massage your scalp a bit with your fingertips. That should do the job perfectly well. 2. Not drying your hair immediately after showering is another habit you need to get done with. Don't want to blow dry? Don't. In fact avoid it if you can, but please do use a soft, dry towel to quickly dry your hair post shower. via GIPHY Hair soaks quite a bit of water, and also dries slowly on its own. If this continues over a period of time, it can crack, causing permanent damage. Also you'll end up getting a fever, like mum warned. 3. Please stop using extra hot water while washing your face. Hot water strips our face off natural, healthy oils, and makes the skin super dry. That would mean you'd end up needing more moisturizer, and subsequently risk getting pimples and acne in the process. via GIPHY In short, your face skin will age much faster and no one wants that. Ugh. 4. We all have ignored our feet while showering at some point, and that my friend, is inexcusable. It does appear that the shower water anyway washes the feet on its own because, well gravity, but that does NOT count as washing your feet. via GIPHY Not paying attention to your feet in the shower would mean dirt deposits around nails and toes, which means bacterial infestation, and of course, smelly feet. Nope, nope, nope. 5. Please stop giving yourself bruises by being too aggressive. You're a human being, my friend, so please stop treating your body like a piece of dirty equipment that needs a solid round of violent treatment under the shower. Most Indian men have this weird habit of vigorously, hurriedly rubbing and scrubbing their entire body with their hands, which kind of doubles up as a mini workout. One question: Why? via GIPHY Your skin is under its most vulnerable state under the shower, and it needs to be treated gently. Stop giving it third degree treatments every single day. It's wreaking havoc on your skin. 6. This one is basic, but please stop using one soap for everything. It's convenient, yes, but please understand your body is not made of one single thing. You have hair, beard, soft skin, hard skin, pubes - how can one soap wash it all and be good in the long run? via GIPHY Use different products for appropriate places. We're not asking you to use 20 different things while showering, but use at least the basics? Shampoo, facewash, body wash, beard wash if you have one. That's all! 7. Keeping a product on for too long will not benefit you in the slightest. You know what we're talking about. It may be conditioner, shampoo, or a hair removal cream - please don't keep it on for more than 3 minutes, if you don't want it to damage your skin. Especially with hair removal or bleaching items, the aftermath is usually horrible and extremely painful. via GIPHY Stick to the label instructions, and don't add to the prescribed time. 8. Please wash your towel regularly. If you have one of those towels that have that consistent damp smell, there is a problem, my friend. A damp unwashed towel is the breeding ground for bacteria and who knows what you'll end up getting in which part of your body? via GIPHY Also, what's the point in showering if you're going to immediately soil yourself again using that filthy-ass towel? Gross. 9. If you're using a soap dish, please make sure it's clean and dry. Some of our desi bathrooms are far too used to having wet soap dishes with half melted bars of soap. Apart from being gross, it's actually a breeding ground for bacteria. via GIPHY Why would you use that to wash your face? Why? 10. Please moisturize immediately after showering, preferably within 5 minutes. Immediately after the shower, skin starts losing moisture rapidly. Dermatologists actually prescribe waiting for no more than 3 minutes to moisturize your face and body post shower, since the skin starts to get dry post that. via GIPHY Most men don't do it, and that's the reason why skin gets dry, rough, and dull. Please start avoiding these mistakes, and watch your skin and hair health improve in no time. View the full article

  6. Believe it or not, but some of the showering habits that we have imbibed over the years are actually very harmful to our hair. © Instagram/kartikaaryan As much as we love our hair, most Indian men just cannot avoid the sad reality that hair fall is. Although most of it can be blamed on genetics and DNA, our habits and lifestyle are also major contributors to hair fall. © Instagram/kartikaaryan A few showering habits that we actually enjoy, like taking long and warm showers, actually damage our scalp and our hair. The problem may get so bad that hair fall becomes rather quick, and worrisome. © iStock Here are some showering habits that we all ought to avoid, as they are extremely harmful to our hair, and hasten hair fall. Skipping That Pre-Shower Champi Regularly © iStock Hair oil massages provide some really beneficial nutrition to the hair. Avoid skipping massages for long stretches of time. Ideally, you should get a champi at least once a week. Use whatever fancy oil you want to as long as it suits your hair. Do keep in mind, that if you don’t have issues with coconut oil, nothing else comes close. Wrong Kind Of Shampoo © iStock This is an error that many men make inadvertently. Pick shampoos that actually are meant for your concern - dandruff, dry scalp, brittle hair, etc. Ideally, your hair products should be free of sulfates, parabens and alcohol. Try to go for products that use a naturally occurring ingredient, such as clay as the cleansing agent. Using Body Wash Or Soap Instead Of Shampoo © iStock Another habit that most of us have is using a bar of soap, or body wash for our hair. The skin on our body is different from that on our scalp. You can’t use the same cleansing agent for both of them. Unless your body wash specifically says that it is suited for hair, do not use it for your hair, as it will dry out your scalp, and make your hair brittle, and frail. Water That’s Too Hot Or Too Cold © iStock Showering with water that’s too cold is bad for your hair, as it makes your hair hard and brittle, whereas showering with water that’s too hot, damages your scalp. Ideally, you should always shower with lukewarm water, as it is not just good for your skin, it is also great for your hair. Also, don’t take too long showers, as that not only wastes water, it also means that your hair will be wet for longer, which weakens the root. Leaving Conditioners On For Too Long © iStock Conditioners are usually loaded with chemicals, especially if you’re using the generic, off the shelf, over the counter types. You do not want to leave conditioners in your hair any longer than the time it says on the bottle. As a rule of thumb, do not keep it on for more than two minutes. Also, it is actually safer to wash it away about 30 seconds before the recommended soaking or resting time. Letting Your Hair Stay Wet For Longer © iStock Since most of us have short hair, we actually don’t pay that much attention to how we dry our hair. It seems a lot of fun to let it air dry, but that is one of the worst things we can do to our hair. Letting your hair stay wet for too long damages the roots and scalps. It also leads to excessive dandruff. It can also lead to excesses breakage and hair fall, especially if you have long hair. Drying Your Hair Aggressively With A Rough Towel © iStock Finally, take special care of how you dry your hair. Don’t be too aggressive with a towel, as it can disturb the roots of your hair, and make them weak. Also, try and pat dry your hair instead of rubbing a rough towel on your head. Vigorously rubbing a hard towel weakens the roots and disturbs the scalp. The Bottom LineCertain showering habits that we have imbibed over the years may be convenient and fun to indulge in. However, they wreak havoc on your scalp and hair. It is best to make a conscious effort to avoid them. View the full article
  7. While the India England Test series was of utmost importance for the Men in Blue and their hopes of making it to the finals of the World Test Championship, it has also proved to be a testament of Rohit Sharma’s excellence as a batsman in the longest format of the game. Following the conclusion of the third Test at the Narendra Modi stadium at Ahmedabad, the International Cricket Council released an updated list of top 10 international cricketers in the batsman, bowler and all-rounder category. HITMAN alaa re in top 10 in @ICC test rankings amazing jump from 14 to rank 8.. proud on u hitman @ImRo45 pic.twitter.com/gqEurxmhDp — 🇮🇳Yogesh Tanwar (TrUE 🇮🇳) (@yogi10war) February 28, 2021 The name which caught the attention of most of the Indian fans was that of Sharma, a celebrated veteran of white-ball cricket who is now well on his way to leaving an impact in the genre of Test cricket as well. Achieving his career-best ranking at the number eight spot, Sharma now is ahead of some of the biggest, more well known names of red-ball cricket including India’s very own Cheteshwar Pujara (Rank 10), vice captain Ajinkya Rahane (Rank 13) and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant (Rank 14). Rohit Sharma jumps 6 spots to claim 8th rank in the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen. R Ashwin jumps 4 spots to claim 3rd rank in ICC Test Rankings for bowlers. Only behind Cummins & Wagner now. — ComeOn Cricket 🇮🇳 (@ComeOnCricket) February 28, 2021 Returning to the Top-10 in Test cricket for the first time since October 2019, Sharma has now become the third Indian batsman to be in the list with two ranks ahead of Pujara and three spots behind the Indian captain, Virat Kohli. Sharma’s ascension in Test cricket started once again when he was called on-board to fill the opener’s spot during the third match of the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia on foreign soil. And even though Sharma did fairly well in the four innings he played in the final two matches of the series (26, 52, 44, 7) in Sydney and Brisbane respectively, it was his aggressive gameplay and the way he got dismissed every single time in Australia that led to fans criticising the ‘Hitman’ for lacking patience. "You've just hit a Boundary a couple of Deliveries earlier, why would you play that shot? You're (Rohit Sharma) a senior player, there's no excuse,Absolutely no excuse for this shot. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket, gifted away. Totally unnecessary." - Sunil Gavaskar — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) January 16, 2021 "I like to put pressure on the bowler once I am in, that is my role in the team. The run-scoring has been slightly difficult so someone needs to hand up & put pressure on the bowlers. I just did not connect the ball I loved to, it was unfortunate," Sharma had told ANI following his dismissal in the Gabba Test. Guess what, turns out Sharma does know how to play Test cricket his way, while scoring boundaries in large volumes and protecting his wicket when needed. His aggressive style of play was put on display during the second Test of the India-England series at Chepauk, in the first innings of which, Sharma ended up smashing a powerful 161 on a pitch which was massively criticised by ‘cricket experts’ from all over the world for being “unplayable”. Sharma’s breakthrough in the top 10 has his fans grinning from ear to ear with a lot to say to those who criticised the batsman for not playing good Test cricket: HITMAN moves to 8th rank in Icc test ranking...! Rip for those who said rohit is not a test player @ImRo45 — lucifer (@Stan_Rohit45) February 28, 2021Abeey yaar yeh log kitna rote h . Rank 8 pe h tab itna ro rhe h. Rank 1 pe aagya toh yeh log flood laa denge rote rote . Wowwwwww..it's the highest among test openers People say he can't play test cricket..he can't open in test cricket..look he is so close to beat @imVkohli in rankings ..#RohitSharma #Hitman #INDvENG — DEBARGHA MANDAL (@debargha_mandal) February 28, 2021Once considered to be not suitable for playing red-ball cricket for the team, Rohit Sharma has proven once again that his skill-set isn’t only limited to playing swashbuckling, high-scoring innings in limited overs cricket but has expanded into the format which is considered to be the ultimate ‘test’ of a batsman’s abilities. 8. If you're someone who is tired of experimenting with new and upcoming skincare products in the market and fail to see a difference in your skin, maybe it's because you're doing something wrong. While it's great that you have a basic skincare routine in place, a few tips can really help make a difference on your skin. Here are 3 ultimate secrets, which if you incorporate into your skincare routine, can possibly do wonders to your skin. These include: 1. Stop Buying Scented Skincare Products © istock While it's important to smell good when you step out of the house, there is a thin line between a fragrance and a scented product. The latter or a heavily scented product is bad for your skin. Skincare products shouldn't prioritise fragrance and yet, make them one of their top qualities while making skincare products. Fragrance usually proves to be one of the top causes of inflammation or irritation on your skin. Even though there is a small percentage of scent even in fragrance-free products to mask the strong pungent smell of raw chemicals, adding more is harmful to your skin. Best solution: scout for skincare products like face creams, face washes, lotions, serums, and SPFs that smell like nothing. 2. Wear Sunscreen Every Single Day © istock You know that the harmful UV rays of the sun can do more damage than good to your skin when your skin is left exposed to the sun. As a rule of thumb always wear sunscreen each time you step out in the sun. If you have a day job, it's best that you incorporate this step in your skincare routine so that you don't miss out on the necessary precaution. 3. Wash Your Face With A Mild Cleanser © istock A mild cleanser can make a huge difference and nix all your skincare woes in a jiffy. While you won't see a difference overnight, it's important that the face wash you choose suits your skin and does not irritate it further. An oil-free cleanser, for instance, can strip the face of all-natural oils leaving your skin to produce oil in excess which can be a major cause of acne. Or a heavy-duty cleanser can, in fact, damage and make your pores look bigger. It's the little things that make a difference. View the full article

  12. As Indians, we are all blessed with a good amount of melanin in our skin. For those of you who may not know, melanin is the compound that gives our skin the colour it has. When the skin starts producing more melanin than needed, it leads to a condition called “hyperpigmentation”. This condition is not limited to the skin alone. It also impacts the colour of your lips. Even though it’s a completely harmless condition, the patchiness can be a little annoying to deal with. Darkening or pigmentation of the lips is also a sign of aging. Amongst other causes, smoking is also a major cause of chapping and darkening of the lips. No matter what the reason maybe, if you want the natural colour of your lips back, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some home remedies and DIY treatments that you can use to treat dark lips. __ECOMLOOKS__1916__ __ECOMLOOKS__1917__ __ECOMLOOKS__1918__ __ECOMLOOKS__1919__ __ECOMLOOKS__1920__ __ECOMLOOKS__1921__ __ECOMLOOKS__1922__ Final Thoughts We hope these homemade lip masks and lip scrubs help you get your natural lip colour back. Apart from this, try to make it a habit to scrub your lips twice or thrice in a week and wear lip balm (with SPF) every single day. These small hacks will protect your lips against sun exposure and prevent the pigmentation from returning. Explore More View the full article
  13. Friends are a blessing. Well, for the most part, until they aren’t. You don’t want us telling you exactly why since you are here reading this article. With that kind of headline in place, it is pretty evident why you may have ended up here: a. You have been blessed with such a 'friend'. b. You think your partner may have such a friend. c. You believe you may be that friend, and want us to prove otherwise. © T-Series Well, no matter what made you decide to click on this story, let me just say that many people around you may have, or know such individuals who are very invested in their friend’s relationships, so much so, that, often they take it upon themselves to decide the couple’s fate. However, it isn’t always easy to identify or be sure if you have such a friend(s) in your own friend circle. So, here are 5 signs to look out for which prove that your friend is dictating your love life: 1. They Know Every Small Detail About Your Relationship As Much As You © Dharma Productions One of the most obvious signs is that you often find yourself filling your friend(s) in on every little detail related to your relationship. How this understanding comes to pass isn’t always clear, though in most cases, it stems from a pre-established norm where you two share a history of sharing everything related to your life with each other. But we need to realise that this case is different. A romantic relationship between two grown-ups is a private affair and therefore demands a sense of sanctity, exclusivity and trust which shouldn’t be breached. Not even for a friend. 2. You Can’t Make Decisions Own Your Own & Need To Consult With Them © Maddock Films Do you often find yourself second-guessing your own decisions related to every other aspect of your relationship? Is this accompanied by a need to take a second opinion from your friend on how to manoeuvre through your own relationship? Well, that’s a big bold sign that you’ve given way too much inside access to your friend to decide on your behalf. While consulting your friend on important decisions is totally fine, but when you find yourself turning to them to help you decide or decide on your behalf every other time, that’s saying something. 3. They Tell You How To Feel Or What To Think In Your Relationship © Eros International A direct spillover from the previous point. Granting too much access to your friend and discussing every aspect of your relationship with them on a regular basis bears the risk of having them turn into an active partner in the relationship, which involves you and your SO. This can often shift the dynamics with your friend guiding you on how to feel or think about something related to your relationship. Yes, friends can always offer their words of wisdom whenever needed, but when someone is too invested in your relationship, they might try to impose their beliefs and reactions on to you, because they feel they know what needs to be done. And that isn’t healthy for your romantic relationship at all. 4. They Make You Feel Guilty For Not ‘Sharing’ Private Details © Red Chillies Productions So, there have been times when you held back from sharing some more serious or private details from your friend, only to have them take offence and make you feel guilty for not ‘sharing’ stuff anymore. They almost seemed oblivious to the fact that it’s your personal relationship and you have the right to not make everything about it public. So they insist and persist and eat at your brain to ‘spill’. Well, that’s a sign, isn’t it? 5. They Want You To Prioritise Your Friendship, Always © T-Series Yes, they know you have a partner. Yes, they seem happy that you’ve found yourself a SO, but all this excitement seems to come with some conditions applied. It’s almost as if everything is cool so long as you don’t make too many plans with your partner. Alternatively, they either want to tag along, or expect you to ignore your partner for the rest of the days and just be their friend first, ‘like old times’. You telling them that you can balance both doesn’t sit well with them, and they’d rather be at the top of your priority list, come what may. Doesn’t always work that way, right? So that’s your cue. Can you think of someone who fits the bill? What do you plan to do now that you know? Let us know in the comments section below. View the full article

  15. Damage at Al Asad air base, January 8, 2020. Photo: Reuters Satellite images released by news agency Reuters on Wednesday appeared to show the damage done to the Al-Asad Air Base housing coalition troops in Iraq that was attacked by the Iran on Tuesday in retaliation for the assassination of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Iran had claimed on Wednesday afternoon that at least 80 US troops had been killed in the attack that was carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had said Iran had delivered a "slap in the face" to the US with the attack. US President Donald Trump, who had tweeted immediately after the attack that America would respond after assessing the damage, rejected the Iranian claims late on Wednesday, and announced new economic sanctions on Tehran in the wake of the attacks on US troops. Damage at Al Asad air base, January 8, 2020. Photo: Reuters Also read: Trump says Iran standing down, US 'ready to embrace peace' The images released by Reuters do indicate that the air base targeted in the attack sustained some damage, but it is still unclear what the extent of that damage was, or how many US troops died as a result of it. The Pentagon, which handles military affairs in US, has also remained mum on the issue. US-based news publication The Washington Post on Wednesday published a report that claimed that the Trump administration knew about the Iranian strikes well in advance of the actual missile attacks. Statements from Iraqi officials lend further credence to the claim. The contradictory statements from the two warring parties has led to a slew of news reports that appear to either claim that the Iranians provided the warning to Iraq on purpose, while others say that the Iranians intended to hit Americans directly and without warning. Damage at Al Asad air base, January 8, 2020. Photo: Reuters Also read: Iran attacks US bases in Iraq, world awaits Trump's statement: Get the latest updates here According to news agency AFP, Iraq's prime minister's office said Wednesday it had received "an official verbal message" from Iran informing it that a missile attack on US forces stationed on Iraqi soil was imminent. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif backed the comments of the Iraqi government on Wednesday. Defence experts on social networking website Twitter further corroborated the Iraqi claims. One expert, Jeffery Lewis of the Middlebury Institute, said that the strikes showed just how precise the missiles of the Iranians were, as they destroyed selected buildings. Reuters had reported on Wednesday that Iran’s launching of more than a dozen missiles at American-led forces in Iraq came after years of preparing for a confrontation with its superpower foe, whose forces are vastly larger and more advanced. The Gulf country has more than 500,000 active-duty personnel, according to a report last year by the International Institute for Strategic Studies. But international sanctions and restrictions on arms imports have made it hard for Iran to develop or buy more sophisticated weaponry to confront the United States. To compensate for the imbalance, Iran has developed “asymmetrical” responses — ballistic missiles, deadly drones and a web of militia allies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, among other things — with the aim of being able to inflict pain while avoiding the traditional battlefield. Also read: Iran missile strike: Tehran claims 80 dead in attack on US bases However, there were also those who took the opposing point of view, saying the Iranians launched the strikes without warning and used heavy-duty ballistic missiles designed to inflict maximum damage on the enemy, wanting to kill scores of American soldiers on the ground. National Security Correspondent for Fox News Jeffery Griffin claimed that an American general had said that the defensive actions and counter measures of the US forces helped saved American lives in the attack, as the Iran had wanted to do as much damage as possible to the base. The statement put out by US President Donald Trump, who is considered to be very tough on Iran by defence experts, would seem to suggest that no American lives were lost in the attack, since Trump did not order military action against Iran, and instead imposed economic sanctions. As leaders around the world urge for caution and restraint after the tensions between the US and Iran, it still remains to be seen how Iran responds to American claims that Tehran intentionally missed targeting US troops out of fear of a conventional conflict with the Washington.
  16. The one corner of a house that we can really call our own is our bathrooms and showers. Trust us, some of our most profound and existentially relevant thoughts come to us when we are shaving, brushing our teeth, attending nature's call, or showering. © iStock Heck, we enjoy the last bit so much, that most of us turn into Kishore Kumars and Eminems once a day, and for good reason. Imagine having a hot shower after the end of a really exhausting day! However, some of our guilty pleasures and habits are actually quite detrimental to us, particularly, our hair. Our showers are anyway a very humid place. The humidity and the moisture not only messes up our hair, and makes it really frizzy. Apart from that, there are some things that can cause irreversible damage to our hair © iStock Using The Wrong Products © iStock Ideally, your hair products should be free of sulfates, parabens, and alcohol. This becomes even more important if you have a skin condition, or are prone to dandruff and brittle hair. Select your products very carefully. Try to go for products that use a naturally occurring ingredient, such as clay as the cleansing agent. As for conditioners, try to go for ones that are organic, and suit your hair's concern. Not Keeping An Eye On The Temperature © iStock Yes, some of us do enjoy a warm shower before we start with our day, and one after we are done dealing with it. However often when we are singing ballads and sonnets to the invisible gods of music, we tend to forget just how hot the water gets. The best way to go about it is to take a shower using a bucket and a mug. Or else, get a geyser, that allows you to set a very specific temperature, and set it around 55-60 degrees, or whatever you are comfortable with. You can also upgrade your geyser to one that has a digital display for even more control. Leaving Your Shampoo Or Conditioner In Your Hair For Long © iStock If you are anything like us, and fastidiously read the labels and instructions that come on the label of your bottle of shampoo and conditioner, you'll know that you are supposed to leave the product in your hair for 20-30 odd seconds, before you wash it off. Chances are, inadvertently, you will leave it for a longer period of time. This is a more commonly made mistake if you are in the tendency of multitasking during your showers and brush your teeth simultaneously. Just keeping a little mental note and counting down is one of the easiest things you can do. Not Drying Your Hair Properly © iStock Make it a habit of pat drying your hair with a soft towel, instead of vigorously rubbing the towel on your head. Also, air drying your hair is a terrible idea as it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus, which leads to dandruff. Also, if you are blow drying your hair, keep it at the lowest level and keep a good distance between the dryer and your hair. Skipping Shampooing & Champis © iStock Although we all lead super lifestyles and rarely find the time to take care of ourselves, shampooing and massaging your hair oil every now and then is imperative. Shampoos, conditioners and hair oil massages provide some really beneficial nutrition to the hair. Instead of skipping it every day, include a hair oil massage in your weekly grooming routine. Another option is to get one of those shampoos that have the benefits of oiling your hair. Using A Body Wash Or A Bar Soap Instead Of A Shampoo © iStock Another habit that makes most of us have is using a bar of shampoo, or as is more the case, our body wash to wash our hair. The skin on our body is radically different from that on our scalp, so the product, too, needs to be different. Unless your body wash specifically says that it is suited for hair, keep it away from your mane. And no matter what, never ever use a body soap for your hair, unless you are looking for ways to go bald quickly. View the full article
  17. Apple has been known for adding tools that benefit a user's health ever since the company launched the Health App with iOS 8. The company has doubled down on the same ethos with the introduction of the Apple Watch. The smartwatch has some nifty features that have been responsible for saving countless lives in the past. Now with iOS 13, Apple is introducing a new feature in the health app that lets users track the headphone volume. It works with Bluetooth headsets (MFi) and the health app will let users know if the volume of the music is too high. © Pexels This feature was not showcased at WWDC 2019 however we got a small preview of the upcoming feature. The health app on iOS devices will now be able to track volume levels and suggest users if the volume is too high and might damage their ears. Apple will use the prescribed WHO levels to determine if the volume levels are loud or not. According to WHO, sounds above the level of 85db is harmful to the ear which is also the same parameter set by Apple in the 'Health' app. Any volume levels lower than 85db is usually ok however previous research has suggested that prolonged exposure to sound levels below 85db can also be harmful to the human ear. What Can Be Improved? © MensXP From what we saw from the demo, the new feature doesn't entirely work as expected. Even though you can track your volume levels from a previous listening session in the Health app, there is no provision for listeners when they are actually listening to audio at high volume levels. The 'Health' app as of now does not notify users about potential ear damage when they are listening to loud music. You will have to manually check levels each time by going into the 'Health' app which can be a bit tedious if you really care about protecting your ears. © Apple It would have been useful if the 'Health' app would notify you if you are listening to music louder than the recommenced volume level when you're actually doing it rather than later. For example, if a user is listening to music louder than 85db for more than 30 minutes, the Health app could simply notify users with a warning. Of course, many audiophiles would find this notification annoying if it keeps coming up every 15 or 30 minutes, which is why Apple should also provide the option of turning this specific notification off or give the ability to mute it for an hour. Personally, I would like to get a warning while I'm listening to loud music, not after the damage is already done.
  18. The Redmi Note 7 was launched earlier this month in China, and the phone's biggest feature that has been advertised is its durability. In order to prove their claims, the company released a video where the smartphone was put through a bunch of stress tests. The video shows employees stomping on the Redmi Note 7, throwing it down the staircase and also a man used it as a skateboard. © YouTube The first video below shows Redmi CEO Lu Weibing throwing the Redmi Note 7 down a staircase and it suffered multiple tosses yet did not suffer any bumps or scratches. Another user used the smartphone as a skateboard by sticking wheels with duct tape. Even in this scenario, the Redmi Note 7 did not suffer any scratches or any other form of damage. This was possible thanks to the phantom grade double-sided Corning Gorilla Glass 5 body that protects the smartphone from such ordeals. In terms of other specifications, the Redmi Note 7 has a dual 48-megapixel camera set up at the back, 4,000 mAh battery and a teardrop notch display. Redmi is now a separate sub-brand of Xiaomi and its first phone is the Redmi Note 7 that has already been launched in China. The Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2340x1080 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM options along with 32GB and 64GB storage options. © Redmi For more information on the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro, you can check out all the details here.

Life can throw you a curveball when you are least expecting it, but what do you do when the ball hits you smack in the face when you are sleeping, and realise upon waking that you are still living a nightmare? Something very similar happened to a 20-year-old poor Taiwan dude, Lin Chin-hsiang who fell asleep behind the wheels after a tiring day at work, and woke up to a bill of whopping £310,000 (or Rs. 2,74,86,944.43 crore to be exact). © YouTube The young guy, had dropped out of college to work and earn for his family was returning back home after a long night shift when the incident took place. Lin's father died five years ago, and he had since taken the responsibility to earn for the family and worked at a local barbeque restaurant, to help his mother with the finances, who herself runs a incense and worship trinkets shop. As per a BBC report, when Lin arrived home at 3 am on Sunday, he found out that his mother was unwell, and hence decided to drop off an order for her at a temple. Around 5 am in the morning, Lin dozed off at the wheels and smashed his car into three Ferraris parked on the roadside. © Twitter Now comes the best part. Lin's situation has received an outpouring of public sympathy, and many have approached the young man with offers for donation. We hope all goes well for Lin, and he finds himself out of this mess very soon.
