Vladimir Putin can do anything, literally anything, and still be flexing on any and every single person. It's just in his blood, or maybe he's developed that fear in people over the years. With so many politicians and world leaders at high risk, and so many already tested positive for coronavirus, Putin is making sure he's absolutely safe in the most hilarious way possible. Argentina barely scraped through to the FIFA World Cup finals, albeit a Messi hattrick against Ecuador on the last matchday of the CONMEBOL qualifiers. Placed in what has been dubbed the group of death, the champions have been abysmal in their two group games against Iceland and Croatia. Coming up against an inspired Iceland, Argentina failed to conceive that final killer pass in their opening game. © Reuters With an insipid defence, Iceland got their equalizer four minutes after conceding. The 3-0 masterclass that Croatia gave them on Thursday night, has the La Albiceleste on the brink of elimination. Here are a few reasons why Argentina are in danger of bowing out at the group stage for the first time since 2002: 1. Over-Dependence On Messi This is the first time since 1974 when Argentina have failed to win either of their opening two games in a World Cup. Sampaoli heavily depends on Messi in the center, not providing much width on the flank. In their opening game against Iceland, they started with Meza and Di Maria on the flank, while the second game had Salvio and Acuna. Argentina's 3-5-2 Strategy Is Not Working Out Sampaoli, brought from Copa America winners Chile, has played a 3-5-2 strategy in both of the games. This strategy sees a more offensive style of play, but leaves gaping holes at the back. Argentina's backline is not renowned for, and Croatia capitalized on this. If Argentina have to pull off the spectacular against Nigeria, they need their wingers to attack. Argentina needs to regroup quickly in a group where they don't have destiny in their hands.
