  1. Even if you are just a casual fan of cricket, you know that the former Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is famous for his unorthodox style of playing the game. Be it his uncanny ways of stumping the opponents from behind the wicket or the unique commentary as the keeper, Dhoni's mind works in mysterious ways. In more than 15 years of brilliance on the cricketing field, Dhoni's atypical methods have very seldom failed to provide the cricketer with desirable results and have continued to make his fans marvel at the way Dhoni's genius works. The man has even contributed to the game by coming up with a shot of his own! Popularly known as the 'Helicopter shot' this extraordinary maneuver isn't the prettiest shot in the world but it surely gets the job done for 'Thala'. In an unprecedented combination of wrist movement and beastly power from the shoulders, Dhoni's 'Helicopter shot' normally hits the ball on a low point while making the bat go in a circular motion instead of the typical 'above the shoulder' follow-through. While this is MSD's own creation, him attempting the shot has become extremely rare as his raw nature evolved with the help of experience and practice. However, there's a video that's surfaced on YouTube that shows Dhoni trying to hit the iconic shot on almost every single ball delivered by the Pakistani bowler Mohammad Asif. According to the video, India were in a comfortable spot requiring just 28 runs from 30 ball to win the game when Pak bowler Mohammad Asif came in to bowl the fifth last over of the game. It seems 'Mahi Bhai' was in some kind of hurry as he scored a couple of boundaries and even a maximum using just the Helicopter. He also hit two more deliveries in similar fashion but failed to collect runs on those. We'll never know what goes inside the cool and calm mind of the future ICC Hall of Famer. All we can do is sit back and acknowledge his greatness.
  2. The world's most celebrated cricket festival, the Indian Premier League (IPL), has begun taking a toll on its fans even before its arrival. Energising and pitting the fans against each other is one of the main elements which keeps the excitement-level at its peak. And what better way to kick off the season than highlighting the rivalry between two of the most beloved and legendary players of Indian cricket, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli? Both the master-class skippers will cross swords after almost a year when their respective IPL teams, Royal Challenger Bangalore(RCB) and Chennai Super Kings(CSK) kick off this season in Chennai on 23rd March 2019. Continuing the buzz created by the earlier promo of Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah pulling the legs of Dhoni and Kohli, the advertisers this time went to the next level by depicting how the megastars have succeeded in dividing the loyalties of the Indian cricket fans. Thala vs King â vs ð¥ ð vs ⤠Whose game will your heart beat for when defending champions @ChennaiIPL take on @RCBTweets in the first #VIVOIPL clash? Enjoying a good view of the feud while sipping on hot tea, the CSK skipper tells his RCB counterpart, "don't be late" in what promises to be a cracker of an opening game between the top two teams. Focusing on the concept of 'game more than the name,' Kohli sarcastically replies saying “sure” while covering dhoni's glass with an RCB coaster, highlighting the chemistry between the best friends. Keeping in mind their title victory in their comeback season last year, CSK will be hoping to continue the same form, whereas Kohli and Co, on the other hand, had a disaster of a season last year and will be looking forward to starting strong. Meanwhile, fans, not waiting for the actual battle on the field, have already started their feud on social media to prove that their team is the best. @imVkohli RCB will win this match...â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ Kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli kohli...... — Girraj Sharma18 (@GirrajS30956768) March 14, 2019 Dhoni Dhoni Dhoni... just couldn't stop laughing at 15 seconds !!! 3. Following the ODI series against the visiting Australian cricket team comes as a wake-up call for the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI). It gives a hint of how dire a situation they are in right now and what kind of competition they are looking at in the ICC World Cup 2019 come June. It was also a reminder of how badly do they still need Mahendra Singh Dhoni to be included in the final roster. Virat Kohli's Commander In Chief © Reuters Yes, Virat Kohli has proven his worth maybe a million times both as a batsman and a leader and his efforts were even recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) when they honoured the 30-year-old with three of the most prestigious awards in the game - Men's Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year while also naming him the captain of the Test and ODI Teams of the Year. However, the man himself has agreed to the fact that he can afford the luxury of fielding at the boundary whenever Dhoni plays from his team. A big fan of the former skipper's ability to lead, Kohli trusts Dhoni's decision-making, especially in crunch time, when the match is on the line. Kohli's frustration and anger in the final overs of Indian bowling in the fifth ODI were enough to understand how gravely he missed having 'Mahi Bhai' by his side. Skills Behind The Stumps © Reuters Rishabh Pant may turn out to be a great substitute for MSD in due course of time and as his childhood coach Tarak Sinha very rightly said that it is unfair to compare a seasoned veteran like Dhoni to a fresher like Pant. Having said that, Pant will get a lot of chances to brush up his skills behind the wicket. For now, at least till the World Cup is over, India can't afford to have the kind of slip-ups the 21-year-old did in the last two ODIs. "Yeh aank band karke rokega. Dusra waala daal sakta hai isko." MS Dhoni from behind the stumps reads Boult, suggests Kuldeep to bowl a googly. Kuldeep obliges and Rohit takes a simple catch at first slip. NZ have been bowled out for 157. #CricketMeriJaan #NZvIND — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) January 23, 2019 India also missed how Dhoni reads the game and the batsman's mind and instructs the bowlers accordingly. Success of Indian spinners in the recent past has a lot to do with Dhoni's observations from behind the stumps. On the contrary, his absence from the roster has led to bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav and Kedar Jadhav being thrashed by the batsmen from Down Under. Dependable On The Crease © Reuters His capabilities as a batsman also needs to be taken into account. Albeit his consistency to score big runs and hit long shots has gone down drastically in recent days, but one can still bet on Dhoni's ability to stay on the crease. During the T20I and ODI series in New Zealand and the partnership between him and Jadhav, Dhoni made sure that his side doesn't lose any more wickets while enabling his partner to score big runs on strike. His Locker-Room Aura © Reuters Finally, just the mere presence of a personality like Dhoni in the locker room brings a sense of stability to the team. After the win in the first ODI, Jadhav openly advocated that notion: “Every time I see 'Mahi bhai', it instills confidence in me. That sort of aura is like, that you see him and feel that 'I will deliver today'. He has the knack of getting the best out of every player and that's what everybody loves about him.”
  4. For a team that was leading 2-0, Team India was given a reality check as Australia didn't just fight back, but eventually went on to record a historic One-Day International (ODI) series win following a decisive 35-run triumph in the final game in Delhi. Chasing a target of 273 runs, the star-studded Indian team was bowled out for 237 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The middle-order woes of the Indian team, once again, came back to haunt the hosts as the likes of Virat Kohli (20), Rishabh Pant (16) and Vijay Shankar (16) and even Ravindra Jadeja (0) failed to aid their side. The ODI series loss undoubtedly left the home fans fuming, especially at a time when Team India is being touted as a top contender for the ICC World Cup in England & Wales. However, at a time when a shocking ODI series loss has dampened the mood in the Indian camp, Hardik Pandya seems to have given the home fans something to cheer for. Guess my inspiration behind this shot? ð ð pic.twitter.com/9mwQ6uNg3g — hardik pandya (@hardikpandya7) March 14, 2019 Taking to Twitter, Pandya shared a video of himself where he is seen batting in nets. And, as he gears up to face a delivery, the Mumbai Indians all-rounder was seen emulating MS Dhoni as he pulled off a brilliant 'Helicopter shot' in the training session. Seeking the fans' opinion, Pandya captioned the video: "Guess my inspiration behind this shot?" While Pandya wasn't part of the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia, the 25-year-old will be eager to make his mark in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he'll play a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians' title challenge this year. 5. The 2019 Lok Sabha election is around the corner. In a democracy, this is the time when the people of the society must voice their opinion and elect the leader that they believe will not only understand the sufferings of the public but also actively make suitable decisions to deal with them. While a steady increase in the percentage of votes polled has been noted in the last three nationals elections ie; 58.1% in 2004, 58.2% in 2009 and 66.4% in 2014 (source: data.gov.in), the overall voting turnout continues to be very low, especially for a country that boasts of being the largest democracy in the world. Thus, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi took to Twitter to urge some of the biggest influencers of our country including cricketers like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma to “inspire the 130 crore people of India” to take some time out of their day to vote during the 2019 elections. All the aforementioned cricketers enjoy massive fan-followings, a major part of which comprises of the younger generation who have finally come of age to exercise their right to vote in the last five years. Dear @msdhoni, @imVkohli and @ImRo45, You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections. When this happens, democracy will be the winner! — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019 “Dear @msdhoni [MS Dhoni], @imVkohli [Virat Kohli] and @ImRo45 [Rohit Sharma], You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections,” Tweets PM Modi. “When this happens, democracy will be the winner!” He goes on to urge some of the other megastars of the Indian sports fraternity to come forward and do their bit in creating awareness and asking their followers to vote: Dear @anilkumble1074, @VVSLaxman281 and @virendersehwag - your heroic deeds on the cricket pitch have inspired millions. Come, it is time to inspire people once again, this time to vote in record numbers. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019 Dear @srikidambi, @Pvsindhu1 & @NSaina, The core of badminton is the court and the core of democracy is the vote. Just like you smash records, do also inspire a record-breaking voter turnout. I request you to increase voter awareness & motivate youth to vote in large numbers. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019 The prolific Phogat sisters, @geeta_phogat, @BabitaPhogat, @PhogatRitu and @Phogat_Vinesh manifest the best of Indian sporting talent. We've seen you in the wrestling world. I urge you all to support the movement to ensure greater voter participation in the 'Chunavi Dangal.' — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019 When @mangeshkarlata Didi, @sachin_rt and @arrahman say something, the nation takes note! I humbly request these remarkable personalities to inspire more citizens to come out and vote in the 2019 elections. A vote is a great way to make the people's voice heard. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019 India is proud of @Neeraj_chopra1, @DuttYogi and @WrestlerSushil. However, they made India win because they participated. I request Neeraj, Yogeshwar and Sushil to encourage people to participate in the elections and vote so that India wins here too! — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 13, 2019
  6. The fourth match of the five-ODI-series between India and the visiting Australia was nothing short of a nightmare for the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who missed a couple of stumping opportunities and dropped a few catches at crucial moments of the game as the man responsible behind the wicket. The blame for the loss can't be completely shifted to Pant's head, as a series of issues occurred during the game, including misjudgement about dew at the time of the toss and Kedar Jadhav and Shikhar Dhawan dropping back to back catches in the final overs. But because of the fact that former captain and main wicketkeeper of the team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not a member of the playing XI, the 21-year-old Pant became the magnet to attract all the hate for the loss. Rishabh Pant's Instagram right now. Come on Dhoni fans, He doesn't deserve this ð£pic.twitter.com/wUheEEmsEk — Abhishek (@ImAbhishek7_) March 10, 2019 This is how Pant's Instagram handle looks like ever since India's second loss of the series which tied the score at 2-2. Realising the toxicity in the air towards his ward, Pant's childhood coach, Tarak Sinha decided to speak out about the issue and call the Indian audience out on the unfair comparisons between his former student and a seasoned veteran like MS Dhoni. “Such comparisons are cropping up because, like Dhoni, he (Pant) is also a wicketkeeper-batsman. But it's unfair on him because it puts undue pressure for him to perform in a particular way, and be like Dhoni. He performs the best when his mind is free,” the seasoned coach said. Reminding one about the early days of wicketkeeping at the hands of the former skipper, Sinha said: “There's a difference between the Pant of today and Dhoni 14-years-ago when he was making his way into the Indian team. Back then, he did not come with the kind of baggage like Pant has. There wasn't any legendary wicketkeeper whom he was replacing.” “The guys back then were either Dinesh Karthik or Parthiv Patel, players younger to him. So, he (Dhoni) was free from the pressure and expectations that Pant is facing today.” What is worth commending right now is Pant's mature mentality, for he has shown zero signs of revolt or frustration towards everyone who supported him a couple of months ago during his brilliant run in Australia and turned on him instantly after a game of bad wicket keeping. Obviously, Pant is nowhere near the skill set of someone like Dhoni, but that doesn't mean that he is no good.
  7. Ever since MS Dhoni called time on his Test career, the Indian selectors have been busy trying to fill in the void. They've tried Wriddhiman Saha who did quite an impressive job in the longest format. Then, we saw the ascension of Dinesh Karthik to the Indian team. And now, young Rishabh Pant is being looked upon as Dhoni's worthy successor behind the stumps. Amongst the available options, Dhoni, himself, had backed Pant as his potential successor when he dropped himself from the Indian squad for the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Australia last November. For a man who considers Dhoni his idol, Pant appeared to have thrived in the limited opportunities he has got in the Indian team so far. His batting prowess surely makes him a valuable addition to the Indian team down the order. But, sadly, the same can't be said about his wicket-keeping skills. At the age of just 21, Pant is still young and continues to learn the art of wicket-keeping. However, with the ICC World Cup around the corner, the margin for error is very low for the youngster. © AP While many have advocated Pant's case in the recent past, the 4th One-Day International (ODI) between India and Australia gave a stark reminder why he is still a work in progress as far as wicket-keeping is concerned. The clash in Mohali saw India losing, what is being deemed as an unlosable game, as Australia chased down the fifth-highest target (359 runs) in ODI cricket. From misreading the conditions to missing key chances, there were a flurry of mistakes Indian cricket team find themselves pondering over as Aussies fought back from being 0-2 to 2-2 in the five-match series. While Kedar Jadhav missed a tough chance at deep midwicket in the 47th over, Shikhar Dhawan put down an absolute dolly at mid-off in the same over. However, amongst the lost opportunities, Pant's blunders were arguably the ones that ended up hurting India's chances the most at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium. In the 39th over, Peter Handscomb had already notched up his maiden ODI hundred and was eager to take the momentum away from India when he decided to step out of the crease, looking for a big shot. Realising Handscomb's intentions, Kuldeep Yadav shortened his length and ensured the batsman missed the ball. But, it was Pant's inability to collect the ball cleanly to effect the stumping that gave a crucial lifeline to Handscomb as Kuldeep and a packed Mohali stadium watched in disbelief. Pant's mistakes...!! pic.twitter.com/qyo9Kpkdox — Vidshots (@Vidshots1) March 10, 2019 But, it was the 44th over that left the Indian team, owing to Pant's blunders, completely red-faced. The first delivery of Yuzvendra Chahal's over saw Pant fluffing another stumping opportunity that could've surely sent dangerous-looking Turner back into the hut. Disheartened by the lost chance, Chahal bowled the third delivery right into the blockhole as Alex Carey just about managed to squeeze it away from the stumps. But, Pant's effort to pull-off Dhoni's 'No Look' throw converted a dot ball into a single. Watch the Mahi magic on loop #INDvNZ https://t.co/btMoJF0xC3 — BCCI (@BCCI) October 26, 2016 The fourth delivery of the same over saw Turner charging down the track only to get beaten wide outside the off-stump. Making amends for his mistake, Pant successfully managed to grab the ball this time around and jumped in appeal for a potential caught behind dismissal. Pant's confidence that the Aussie had edged the ball convinced Virat Kohli to review and even as the replays showed a noticeable spike on 'Ultra-Edge', the third umpire deemed it not out and called for a wide. While Pant should hardly be blamed for the last opportunity as there was actually a spike in replays, the other three blunders undoubtedly proved costly for his team's chances to win the game and seal the series. Though Pant is still young and needs time to establish himself as India's go-to wicket-keeper, the left-hander must learn to work on his strengths rather than copying Dhoni's artistry with the gloves. © AP In the two stumping opportunities he missed, Pant was so eager to whip the bails off that he almost forgot to collect it in the first place. Dhoni's lightening quick glovework is a technique derived through impeccable hand-eye coordination, developed over years of hard work. Similarly, when Pant tried to pull off Dhoni's 'No Look' throw, he looked very casual - something that further evoked a strong reaction from his captain on the field. It's one thing to idolise someone, but, to become like them, is an uphill battle that takes time. Pant might have pulled off Dhoni's unorthodox style of wicket-keeping a million times in the practice sessions. But if you can't do it correctly in crunch situations during a key clash, then, the wise thing would be to stick to the basics, rather than being flamboyant - a lesson Pant must learn to live up to his billing as Dhoni's successor behind the stumps.
  8. Probably one of the most hardworking and well respected members of the Indian and international cricket fraternity, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was one of the athletes who was kept in the spotlight for the infamous spot-fixing incident that took place in 2013. The event rose to actor Vindu Dara Singh and the Chennai Super Kings leader Gurunath Meiyappan being arrested by the Mumbai Police on alleged betting rows and maintaining close contact with the bookies. During the investigation, a lot of players were interrogated and pressurised to break, in order to come out with the truth. “The team was involved, I was accused too. It was a tough phase for all of us,” said a very serious MS Dhoni in the trailer for 'Roar of the Lion', a Hotstar documentary. “Fans felt that the punishment was harsh. Coming back was an emotional moment and I have always said, what doesn't kill you makes you strong.” In 2017, a committee established by Justice Mukul Mudgal surfaced a report which basically describes Dhoni's willingness to play according to the demands of the bookies against a match against the Rajasthan Royals. © India Today “The biggest crime that I can commit is not a murder, it is actually match fixing,” said the former Indian skipper. Watch how @msdhoni and a bunch of men in yellow jerseys wrote one of India's greatest comeback stories. #HotstarSpecials is proud to present #RoarOfTheLion. Trailer out. pic.twitter.com/nkWpV1EPnl — Hotstar Specials (@HotstarSpecials) March 10, 2019 When Meiyappan was found guilty of the crimes, the entire Chennai Super Kings franchise was barred from competition for two years, keeping the then two-time IPL champs away from the league in 2016 and 2017. During the span of two years, MSD was bought by the brand new franchise, Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016. While the franchise came seventh amongst eight teams that year, they succeeded to make it to the final the next season, only to lose to Rohit Sharma and the Mumbai Indians. After the ban on CSK was lifted the next season in 2018, Dhoni retained his 'Thala' status as he, along with Suresh Raina, got the city of Chennai their third IPL title.
  9. After taking a crucial 2-0 lead in the five-match series, the Indian cricket team appeared to have a gala time, as former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni hosted his teammates for dinner at his lavish seven-acre farmhouse, ahead of the 3rd One-Day International (ODI) in Ranchi. The Indian cricketers were seen enjoying food in a special area of the farmhouse that resembled nothing less than a grand event at a luxurious wedding. There were chandeliers, candles, huge curtains and a massive table to ensure Dhoni's teammates had a great time under the starry night. Great night with the boys at mahi bhais place last night. Virat Kohli Skipper Virat Kohli shared an image from the evening on Instagram. He captioned it by saying: “Great night with the boys at mahi bhais place last night. But, Dhoni's so-called successor did it with pun and humour. In a light-hearted tweet, the 21-year-old joked that Dhoni's better-half Sakshi is ruining the Indian cricketers' fitness levels with great food. "Bhabhiji ruining our fitness levels. Super fun evening with fam-jam ! Thank you @msdhoni and @SaakshiSRawat for hosting us # goodtimes @imVkohli @imkuldeep18 @yuzi_chahal," Pant tweeted. When it comes to cricket, the Indian team found themselves running into a more focussed Australian brigade on 8th March during the 3rd ODI in Ranchi. Riding on brilliant knocks by Usman Khawaja (104) and Aaron Finch (93), Australia managed to post a formidable total of 313 runs. In reply, India stuttered early on, losing both openers Shikhar Dhawan (1) and Rohit Sharma (14) in the first five overs.
  10. Arguably one of the most iconic sportspersons in the country, Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to aid the Indian cricket team in the multiple roles assigned to him over the years. His leadership skills allowed Team India to scale new heights. Dhoni's lightning quick glovework has spelt doom for the opposition batsmen. And, his know-how of the game enables him to still make field placements and guide bowlers despite stepping down as Indian captain. While his cricketing skills have enthralled fans over the years, Dhoni's admiration and respect for Indian armed forces have also struck a chord with everyone. That probably explains why the Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni in 2011. The Jharkhand cricketer's personal connect with the jawans once again came to the fore when he was seen distributing camouflage caps to his Indian teammates ahead of the 3rd One-Day International (ODI) against Australia in Ranchi on 8th March. In a bid to pay homage to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) martyrs who lost their lives in the dastardly attack in Pulwama on 14th February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to allow the Indian cricketers to don the camouflage caps for today's ODI clash at the JSCA International Stadium. #TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind pic.twitter.com/fvFxHG20vi — BCCI (@BCCI) March 8, 2019 In a brief video shared by the BCCI on Twitter, the former Indian captain was seen distributing the camouflage caps to his teammates. "#TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces. And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind," the Indian cricket board tweeted. To pay homage to the martyrs of Pulwama Terror Attack, the players will donate today's match fee to the National Defence Fund #JaiHind pic.twitter.com/vM9U16M8DQ — BCCI (@BCCI) March 8, 2019 On the other hand, the Indian cricket fans residing in Ranchi were also geared to welcome Dhoni home. While many continue to speculate that today's clash might be the last game for Dhoni in his hometown, for now, the 37-year-old seems eager to entertain the Ranchi crowd who are busy chanting his name from the stands. The Indian cricket team has already taken a crucial 2-0 lead in the five-match series and going into today's clash, Virat Kohli's men will be eager to seal the contest and extend Australia's misery with a win.
  11. Virat Kohli and the rest of the Indian cricket team are in currently in Ranchi, Jharkhand for the third of five-match ODI series. This game is particularly important because of the fact that Team India is currently leading the series 2-0 and winning the next one, would ensure the series victory against their Aussie rivals. Clearly, the stakes are high and there is a load of pressure on the shoulders of Team India to be done with the series as soon as possible. During such times of goading, it was but obvious that former captain MS Dhoni will do something to calm their nerves, as he does during the crucial final overs of a match. Ranchi is Dhoni's hometown. This is where 'Captain Cool' grew up amongst his friends and family, where he went to school and where he developed his unorthodox ways of dominating the game of cricket. People have come to worship him and his contributions towards putting the town on a global map. If we were living in ancient times, Dhoni would definitely be living as the city's most beloved king. It is therefore only suitable that his comrades enjoy a royal feast. While the humility in Dhoni led him to drive his chariot (read: Hummer H2) to the airport to pick up teammates Rishabh Pant and Kedar Jadhav himself, he also arranged for a massive dinner party for the entire roster at his Ranchi residence. Every member of the Indian roster seems to have forgotten about the pressure of winning the next game, even if it was for a brief second, and it was a great moment indeed for the teammates to have shared together. 12. The Men in Blue are currently guests in the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's hometown of Ranchi for the crucial third of five ODIs against Team Australia, scheduled to take place on 8th March 2019. It is a well-known fact that a major reason why the Jharkhand capital is known globally is because of the inspirational ascend of the wicket-keeper batsman, who rose from the streets and went on the win big trophies for the country, in a game which is treated as a religion. Dhoni is a star, nay, a god in Ranchi. Tourists from all over the world visit the city literally to be a part of a 'Dhoni Tour'. Where he went to have tea, his locker room, his favourite place to sit back and experience Ranchi cricket in all its glory, everything has been well documented by the cricketing world. Now that the prodigal son has returned, the streets are his to rule. An automobile enthusiast, Dhoni has a massive garage of beasts like Ferrari 599 GTO and GMC Sierra 3500HD but the car that our 'Captain Cool' is particularly fond of, is his silver Hummer H2 (probably because that's the only car out of his collection that would move on Indian roads and over monstrous speed-breakers). Whenever Dhoni is in Ranchi, he loves to move around in his shiny Hummer. Remember the time Thala rode past the New Zealand squad in his supercar while Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor's jaw dropped to the floor? Remember when Dhoni drove to the ground with his Hummer and NZ players were left in awe ðð. Look at Ross's face. Mass pic.twitter.com/6JpE1AdWEY — Naveen (@ImNsamy) March 6, 2019 This time around, ahead of the third ODI against the Aussies, Dhoni decided to take the youngsters of the team, Rishabh Pant and Kedar Jadhav, for a spin in the H2. 13. Over the years, Indian cricket fans took a special liking towards MS Dhoni calling the shots on the field. And, why not. Under his leadership, the Indian cricket team scaled new heights (needless to mention the World T20 triumph in 2007 and World Cup title win in 2011). But, then, came a change - one that brought a more expressive and aggressive leader to the fore. Virat Kohli took over the reins as India's new captain and his never-say-die attitude created a new environment in the dressing room. But, despite being the captain, Kohli doesn't shy away from seeking out Dhoni on the field. Whether it's about placing the fielders in the right positions, taking DRS calls or even giving advice to the bowlers, Dhoni has pretty much been the unofficial captain whose experience and know-how of the game is being wisely used by his successor Kohli. Such has been Dhoni's judgement that not only Kohli but Rohit Sharma - who has often been seen leading the Indian side as stand-in captain - also looks up to the former Indian captain for advice. © AP But, on 5th March, the Indian cricket fans witnessed a rare moment of magic when all these three captains combined their acumen to eke out a thrilling eight-run win over Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket stadium in Nagpur. Defending a below-par total of 250 runs was always going to be difficult in the modern-day setup. And, India never looked in complete control of the match against the Aussies. As the match reached its climax, Kohli was contemplating the idea of using Vijay Shankar for the 46th over. But, a brief discussion with Rohit and Dhoni saw him changing his decision as he gave the ball to Jasprit Bumrah. "I was thinking of using Vijay in the 46th over, but I spoke to Rohit and MS, and they said, let's stick with Shami and Bumrah, and if they get some wickets we're on top, and that's exactly what happened," Kohli revealed after the game. © AP The decision bore fruit immediately as Bumrah dismissed Nathan Coulter-Nile and Pat Cummins in the 46th over to put pressure on dangerous-looking Marcus Stoinis. The seesaw battle between the two sides eventually boiled down to 11 runs off the final six deliveries. The situation looked tailor-made for death-overs specialist Bumrah, but he had already bowled his quota of 10 overs. And, that's when Kohli pulled another ace in the pack following yet another crucial discussion with Rohit and Dhoni. "We had a discussion on whom to give the final bowler. We had a thought that if a spinner's delivery comes in the radar, then it will be easier to step out and hit it for a six. There was reverse swing on offer for a fast bowler. So, I was hoping that Vijay would be able to reverse swing a bit," Kohli said. "If he bowls in the right areas, the batsman might go for a swing and miss, which happened on the first ball. And then it reversed a bit on the final ball, and we won. So we were hoping he could exploit the swing on offer. 11 runs were needed in the final over, so I knew it could be easier for Vijay. Because then the batsman had to go for a big hit. And they just had two wickets left," he added. © AP It was a battle of nerves as the Indian skipper tossed the ball to Shankar, who had earlier aided his team with a gem of an innings. The first delivery of the over saw Stoinis getting trapped in front of the stumps and even a review couldn't save him. The second ball allowed Adam Zampa to score two runs. And, the third delivery - a perfect yorker - resulted in another wicket and dashed Australia's hopes. "I was ready to bowl that over. Only if I do it will people know I can. It was just about being mentally clear, not be crowded mentally. Wanted to hit the hard lengths because it was reversing a bit, and I told myself to bowl at the stumps. I think when you play for the country you have to be ready to do whatever the team needs. I keep telling myself to work on all aspects of the game, and when the opportunity comes, be ready to grab it. I thought I was timing the ball well, rotating the strike in the middle overs. I was confident of doing that and it was a good partnership," Shankar said. © AP` Kohli, too, heaped praise on Shankar and his contribution in India's 500th ODI win. But, the sight of three important members of the side coming together and sharing their experiences and tactics is what stands out in India's triumph. The likes of Dhoni, Kohli and Rohit will be key for India's chances in the ICC World Cup in England & Wales, not just in their assigned roles, but also in making crucial decisions for the team. "Vijay kept it stump-to-stump, kept it simple, and it worked. It's always nice to speak to Rohit, he's the vice-captain, MS has been around for so long, and you go and speak to the bowler as well. Invariably they're all on the same page. Bumrah is a champion, two wickets in an over, just turned the game, happy to have him in our team. Just coming through these kinds of games gives us confidence. It's important to look ugly at times, and come through and win. We might get these low-scoring games in the World Cup as well," Kohli concluded.
  14. The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League is about to start in less than a month and the hype is escalating on a Godly level. To add fuel to the fire, the new promo has been launched and it surely does justice to all the madness that surrounds an entity that is potentially the most loved league in the country. 8 teams, 1 motto - 1 trophy ð The countdown to the 2019 #VIVOIPL begins ð§®âï¸ðð ARE YOU READY? pic.twitter.com/rk9h1gd8ng — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) March 5, 2019 In the new promo, a creative parallel has been drawn between the professional cricketers who represent the country on the international level and the young enthusiasts who keep the craze going on the streets. The minute-and-a-half footage deals with the two sides trying to fight against each other over the desire to play the game of cricket they both love equally. Both try to crush the other side behind the wall and acquire as much of the playing space as the can. There's a moment when the 'gully boys' are gaining advance over the Men in Blue, who are now dressed in the colourful jerseys of the cities they will be representing in the upcoming season and Thala aka Mahendra Singh Dhoni, makes an epic entry for his boys, driving a massive road-roller into the equation. This may be a tribute to Mahi's ability to show up in the clutch and like a superhero, single-handedly finish the game in favour of his side. MSD, however, also shows other characteristics of a superhero as he gets rid of the 'wall' that divided the young fans from the players, bringing the youngsters to his side. When one of the aspirants comes forward to introduce himself, the captain of Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli stops him in his way and says: “Name chhodh… Game dikha.” This seems to be the narrative that is going surround this IPL season. With numerous new striplings making their way to all the glitz and glamour, it is their game that will help them make their name in the cricketing world. 15. Arguably one of the most iconic sportspersons in the country, Mahendra Singh Dhoni enjoys unmatched popularity and love from cricket fans in India. From his impeccable leadership skills, lightning quick glovework to majestic batting, Dhoni, over the years, has managed to carve a niche of his own. Whether he's on the field or off it, the Jharkhand cricketer is chased by fans who seek their moment of the spotlight in the company of the star cricketer. The 2nd One-Day International (ODI) between India and Australia, once again, brought Dhoni's ever-growing fanbase to the fore. © AP After posting a below-par total of 250 runs, the Indian cricketers were making their way on the field when a pitch invader got his moment of stardom. Breaching the security at the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium in Nagpur, the fan made his way towards Dhoni who decided to give him a run for his money. Resiting the advances of the fan, Dhoni dodged the poor man who was seen wearing a white jersey that had 'Thala' written on the back alongside MSD's jersey no. 7. The Indian captain brought up his 40th ODI hundred, becoming only the second man after Sachin Tendulkar (49) to achieve the feat. He also became the sixth player to score 9,000 runs in international cricket as captain, leaving Ricky Ponting behind. While Kohli achieved the milestone in 159 innings, Ponting took 203 innings to reach there. Apart from Kohli, Vijay Shankar proved his batting credentials with a crucial knock of 46 runs. He also stitched an 81-run partnership with Kohli for the fourth wicket. It proved to be a bad day for the likes of Dhoni and Rohit Sharma who both got dismissed on golden ducks during India's innings.
  16. Ahead of the second ODI between India and the visiting Australian cricket team, Indian all-rounder Kedar Jadhav has come up with some words of praise for former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as one of the most steady pillars of the squad. A self-proclaimed fan of the legend from Ranchi, Jadhav marvelled at his idol's brilliant innings against the dominating cricketers from Down Under during the first ODI match, as they built a formidable partnership of 141 runs while chasing a challenging total of 236 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Every time I see Mahi bhai, it instills confidence in me. That sort of aura is like, that you see him and feel that 'I will deliver today'. He has the knack of getting the best out of every player and that's what everybody loves about him.” Jadhav has also come out and complemented Dhoni's ability to calm his teammates down before a big game or tough circumstances. Talking about his affection towards the wicketkeeper, Kedar recalled his debut series: “The kind of cricketer I am today is because of him. He has always encouraged me… He had seen me in Zimbabwe first and in the New Zealand series at home in 2016, he just wanted two overs from me and luckily for me in my second over, I got two wickets.” No doubt Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains of the Indian cricket team and a huge reason behind his excellence in that role, was his ability to mould himself according to the situation, a leader, a batsman, a wicketkeeper, a mind-reader, you name it, he's done it. Despite being flaked with hate-mails after his game in the T20I series loss against the Aussies, Dhoni has yet against proved his haters wrong.
  17. With less than a month before the first match of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) takes place on 23rd March, new IPL promos have been made available to the fans. These promos come as responses to young cricketers Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, who took shots at veterans like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Indian skipper Virat Kohli. In what was considered to the first very first promo for the 2019 IPL, Rishabh Pant taunted former Indian captain MS Dhoni as he vowed to make the 'Captain Cool' lose his cool when his team, Delhi Capitals take on Dhoni's CSK. Chal, aakhir seekh hi gaya tu,” says a very jolly Kohli. Replying to Bumrah's yorkers, Kohli made it very clear that the bowler should not expect any leniency from him when he enters the field to bat. These promos are great and provide us with a great preview of the level of competition we are going to witness in the 12th edition of the cricket league. With some of the best cricketers returning to the colourful jerseys, we are surely in for a treat.
  18. For a team that recorded historic win in Tests before winning the ODI series Down Under, the Indian cricket team got a stark reminder of Australia's capabilities in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) following their three-wicket loss in Visakhapatnam. Barring KL Rahul, none of India's batting superstars stepped up as they stuttered to a mediocre total of 126 runs. The Indian bowlers tried to put up a brave fight despite few runs to play for, but in the end, Umesh Yadav's 14-run final over saw Australia to eke out a thrilling win and allowed them to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match T20I series. Going into the 2nd T20I, the Indian cricket team needs to put their best foot forward as they take on the visitors in the must-win clash at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. But, while the hosts aim to bounce back in a bid to level the series, some of India's biggest superstars will also fancy notching up individual records. © BCCL The likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are all in fray to etch their name in the history books with the potential individual records they can achieve during the 2nd T20I on 27th February. Rohit is on the verge of shattering the record for most sixes in the shortest format. The Mumbai batsman has slammed 102 sixes in 86 T20I innings so far. He is just two 'big hits' away from overtaking the likes of Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill who are currently tied at the top in the list of most sixes in T20Is. The 31-year-old is already leading the list of Indian batsmen with most sixes in T20Is. The nearest person to his tally of T20I sixes (in India) is Yuvraj Singh who boasts of 74 maximums in 51 innings in the shortest format. He is way ahead from the likes of Dhoni and Kohli who have 49 sixes in 84 innings and 48 'big hits' in 61 innings respectively. © BCCL Both, Kohli and Dhoni might be behind Rohit in the list of most T20I sixes, but, going into today's clash, the duo will be seen competing in a race of their own. The two cricketers are on the verge of bringing up a half-century of sixes in T20Is. And, with Dhoni needing just one and Kohli requiring two 'big hits', it'll be interesting to see who reaches the milestone first. While the individual milestones wouldn't really be on their minds, these three vital cricketers will be eager to produce an improved performance to help their side level the T20I series against Australia today.
  19. In the last two months, on a couple of occasions, former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has found himself in one of the most tricky scenarios for any batsmen. When the middle order collapses faster than melting ice, Dhoni's ability to stay on the crease has forced him to try and build partnerships with tailenders, especially when the Indian cricket team is not doing so well coming up with a respectable total to pose a real threat to the opposition. Under such 'Do or Die' circumstances, Dhoni is known to often stick with the third option: stay on the line and try to build a good total, even if it means that his knock is relatively slower than how it should have been; the alternative being getting out while going for a hasty shot. During the first Twenty20 match against the visiting Australian cricket team, Dhoni was put under a similar situation yet again. With Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya sent back to the dressing room for cheap, Dhoni had one and only one objective in his head: Help India play till the end. Agreed, his pace was too slow, especially for a T20I match, even then India played all 20 overs and were able to put a number which was a lot more than it could have been if Mahi had gotten out in foolishness. If we had won the game, the narrative towards Dhoni's batting would certainly have been a lot different but because all wasn't rosy at the end, he was scrutinised by the self-proclaimed cricket pundits online: Ball to Dhoni ð #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/XPqVIHoh3B — Roshan Rai (@RoshanKrRai) February 24, 2019 #INDvAUS Waiting for Dhoni to hit his first boundary of the innings pic.twitter.com/zzZ2kh6I3s — Faking News (@fakingnews) February 24, 2019 Does MSD think only he can bat..?.. Doesnt good sight to see that he can't even give strike to #9 and he himself won't score.. not good at all..#Dhoni #INDvAUS — Akshay Hegde (@AAkshayHegde) February 24, 2019 However, Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell came to the veteran's rescue when he said it was “fair enough” for Dhoni to turn down singles with his innings coming to an end, especially due to the slow and low nature of the pitch. According to cricket.com.au, Maxwell said: "MS is obviously a world-class finisher and even he was finding it hard to hit the middle of the bat… I think it was right of him to try and farm the strike and he hit a six in the last over… If you're holding MS to one boundary in the last few overs it's a pretty good effort and also a sign of the conditions as well.” There is not doubting Dhoni's abilities to finish games for the Men in Blue. More often than not, we have seen the man perform to the best of his abilities in clutch situations while also winning games with massive sixes on the last ball. It was just one of those days when things didn't turn out to be the way one hoped for. Even then, the fact that the Indian side was able to hold off the Australians to a nail-biting last-ball game winner was made possible with a great deal of credit going to MS Dhoni.
  20. Last year, when the Indian selectors dropped MS Dhoni from the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Australia, there was a lot of hue and cry over the decision. While many slammed the selectors for axing Dhoni, others targeted Rishabh Pant who was preferred over the former Indian captain. After much speculation, it was Dhoni who finally revealed that he dropped himself in a bid to give young Pant some game-time before labelling him as his worthy successor. It was the first time when Dhoni's admiration towards Pant came to the fore. But, for Pant, Dhoni has always been an idol whose exploits on the field inspired him to become a wicketkeeper-batsman. While Pant is still learning the tools of the trade from Dhoni, the Delhi youngster seems to have now turned the guns against his own idol. The left-hander was recently seen taunting Dhoni before concluding that he intends to make the Jharkhand cricketer lose his cool. What's wrong with Pant? Why would he do that? Before all these questions drive you nuts, allow us to clear the air. Sporting the new Delhi Capitals jersey, Pant was seen sitting in the middle of the pitch where chants of Dhoni was reverberating in the background. The young cricketer, then, opens a fan-book containing Dhoni's picture and calls the former Indian captain his "guru". In a thought-provoking baritone, Pant even went on to say that if it wasn't for Dhoni, he may not have become a wicketkeeper-batsman. But, just when you thought Pant was paying a tribute to his mentor, the video takes a complete turn as the 21-year-old, then, fires a straight warning to Dhoni. The young gun claimed that he will rain on Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) parade so effectively in the upcoming season of the IPL that Dhoni will lose his cool. Twitter/@BCCI Pant subsequently asked "Mahi Bhai" to get ready as he will be coming to show his batting prowess in the IPL. While the video ended with Dhoni watching Pant's warning on his phone, there is probably a reply from the CSK skipper lurking around the corner. The twelfth edition of the IPL will kickstart with the pulsating clash between defending champions CSK and Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 23rd March. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals will be seen opening their campaign against Mumbai Indians on 24th March.
  21. Mahendra Singh Dhoni evokes emotion as well as passion for cricket like no one else. One of the most popular cricketers, he garners attention for the good, bad and everything in between on the field and outside of it. Apart from being a stellar cricketer. he also gets attention from the beginning for his chameleon hairstyles that have evolved over the years. But here's the thing, they've all represented a phase in his life and changed with the kind of person he's become today. 1. 22. Owing his valuable contribution to Indian cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has established a fanbase that is hard to beat for any other cricketer in the country. From fans invading the pitch to shake his hand to the crowd giving him a standing ovation every time he comes out to bat, there is no bigger crowd-puller than the former Indian captain. Thus, it's quite a no-brainer to anticipate the reactions of fans when it comes to meeting or getting some personal space with the Jharkhand cricketer. But, while the world continues to celebrate his genius and fans shadow his every move, a kid refused the opportunity to get up close and personal with Dhoni. During a charity match in Mumbai recently, the 37-year-old was spotted flaunting his football skills on the field. Following the match, Dhoni - staying true to his nature - took the time to greet the large crowd that had gathered at the venue to catch a glimpse of one of India's biggest sports icons. In a video that has since gone viral, Dhoni can be heard saying, "Aaogey?" before being turned down by the kid who began crying. While he couldn't do much with the kid, Dhoni will be looking to continue his fine form when Australia lock horns with India in two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and five One-Day Internationals (ODIs), slated to begin from 24th February. Considering the upcoming series will be India's last international assignment before the ICC World Cup in England and Wales, Dhoni will be eager to make the opportunity count and anchor the middle-order in the build up to the ICC spectacle beginning in May.
  23. Barring Sachin Tendulkar, no other cricketer evokes such extreme emotions and draws praise from fans like Mahendra Singh Dhoni. One of the most popular and definitely most criticised Indian cricketer, Dhoni garners attention for all the good and bad he produces on the field. If his lightening quick glovework elates fans, the very man's misfiring innings leaves everyone disappointed. The recent times have been no different for the former Indian captain. Before he headed to Australia for the ODI series, everyone contemplated that it might be the end of Dhoni who would find it really hard to make the cut for the Indian squad for the 2019 ICC World Cup in England & Wales. Reuters But, on the back of three consecutive fifties in three matches, Dhoni earned the 'Player of the Series' award and silenced everyone who doubted his credentials. Thriving in his new role, Dhoni has once again proved why Team India needs him in their upcoming World Cup campaign. And, owing to his new role, Dhoni seems to have decided to change don a new look as Australia come calling for two T20Is and five ODIs. Using the expertise of her friend and celebrity hairstylist Sapna Moti Bhavnani, Dhoni dyed his hair black and got a sleek and classy look. Maintaining a medium length in the middle, 'Captain Cool' opted for relatively shorter hair on the sides. . Hair/Makeup by me. “Kaunse pagal ne kabhi kaha hai ke main pagal hu?” Love this man,” she captioned her Instagram post. While his new look would surely have the fans excited, we'll be hoping that his form with the willow continues to aid the Indian team when they take the field against Australia in the first T20I on 24th February.
  24. Last November, the Indian cricket team embarked on a long journey away from home that included gruelling tours of Australia and New Zealand. During that time, India drew the Twenty20 International (T20I) series before winning the Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Australia. And then, they travelled to New Zealand where they demolished the hosts in ODIs before stuttering in the T20Is. While their overseas tour has come to an end, India, now, await their next challenge which, once again, involves the Australian brigade. With revenge on their mind, the Aussie team will travel to India for two T20Is and five ODIs, slated to begin from 24th February. But, after spending three months on the road, the Indian cricketers finally had a breather as the T20I series against Australia is still more than a week away. Several Indian cricketers were seen making the most of their time at home after they shared pictures and videos on the social media. From Rohit Sharma to Virat Kohli, here's how Indian cricketers are unwinding following their long overseas tour: Rohit Sharma How happily he is playing with his daughterâ¤ð! But, the 'Hitman' did find a reason to cheer for as he became the leading run-getter in the shortest format following a brilliant fifty in the second T20I in Auckland. Upon his return to India, Rohit was elated to spend time with his daughter 'Samaira'. A video of Rohit playing with his daughter was also shared on the social media. Thanks to his exploits, the wrist-spinner recently notched up a career-best second position in the ICC's T20I rankings for bowlers. Clearly, the young spinner was happy to be home as he shared a photograph of himself in the company of his Team India mates Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal. While he did get a lot of starts, Dhawan just couldn't capitalise and convert them into big individual scores. With the Aussies coming to India this month, Dhawan will be eager to make his presence felt in a bid to win over the fans. And, that's exactly what might have been on his mind when he shared a brief video where the left-hander can be seen doing push-up on his knuckles. Virat Kohli Instagram After helping his side in gaining an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series, Kohli was rested from the last two 50-over contests and the three T20Is against New Zealand. While his team stuttered to a narrow 2-1 loss in the T20Is, Kohli was seen exploring the scenic beauty of New Zealand with wife Anushka Sharma. Early on Tuesday, the couple returned home and as soon as they landed at the Mumbai airport, the Indian captain shared a selfie of their arrival with the cricket fans on the social media. Dinesh Karthik Instagram The Indian middle-order batsman was recently slammed for his antics during India's four-run loss against New Zealand in the deciding T20I. His decision to deny Krunal Pandya a crucial single in the final over didn't go down well with the fans. Karthik did manage to hit a six off the last ball, but it wasn't good enough to take India home. But, that is now a thing of the past. The T20I series is done and dusted. And, Karthik is just happy to be back home and dig in to south Indian delicacies. MS Dhoni .@msdhoni back in bay after New Zealand & Australia tour!ð®ð³ð@seemantlohani @mihir_diwakar #Dhoni #MSDhoni #TeamIndia pic.twitter.com/vOiDlbdMrP — MS Dhoni Fans Official (@msdfansofficial) February 12, 2019 For someone who desperately needed to prove his mettle, MS Dhoni made the most of time during India's tour of Australia and New Zealand. The former Indian captain shut his critics with his 'Player of the Series' performance in the ODIs against Australia and then continued to play a crucial role in the middle-order against the Kiwis. On the back of some sublime performances, Dhoni has not only won over fans, but has also impressed the selectors who'll surely take note of his exploits before announcing the Indian squad for the ICC World Cup in England and Wales. But, for now, Dhoni seemed really happy to return home.
  25. There isn't much that hasn't been said about the greatness of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a player. He is one of the greatest batsman, knows how to win games for his country, is the most successful captain of the Indian cricket team and probably has the best reflexes as a wicket-keeper too! But MS Dhoni, in person, is equally phenomenal. From running a charity for the betterment of the financially backward students to showing his support to the Indian Army by holding friendly matches, the proceedings from which contribute to the better conditions of the 'jawans' at border, Dhoni has checked all the boxes for the prerequisites of being India's favourite son. Patriotism for the former captain is deep ingested in his heart. Prided with the position of Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, Dhoni had once said: Once my cricket career is over, I would definitely like to serve in the army”. The love for his country seems to be guiding every action of the cricketing star as on Sunday, during the third and final T20I match between India and New Zealand at Hamilton, Dhoni's (almost) reflexive actions prevented the Indian tricolour from staying on the floor. Fan gives flag to Dhoni...!! pic.twitter.com/yxlNzXcsZ4 — Videos Shots (@videos_shots) February 10, 2019 Watch as one of Dhoni's millions of fans was able to rush past the security and onto the field just so he could fall on his idol's feet in love and respect. The fan happened to have a small Indian flag with him which Dhoni instantly picked up as the fan dove to the cricketer's feet, preventing the disrespect it would have meant. What's more is that while other sportspersons get finicky about fans running towards when with an object (which is totally understandable), Dhoni greeted the fan in white properly before he ran away clearly overflowing with joy as the security guard followed him in pursuit. Used to praising MSD for something or the other almost every single day, people once again took to Twitter, this time, to commend Dhoni's patriotic gesture: Dhoni never keep Flag on his helmet as he had to put it down for sometimes sums up this â£ðð»!!
