  1. Of all the people who have jumped on the fashion roller-coaster this year and managed to hang on, Aparshakti Khurana perhaps is the one person who seems to have got the grip the strongest. From rocking the most unusual accessories to pulling off rare combinations, this man has got it all right, every time he tried to experiment with fashion. Keeping the record steady, he pulled off one more out-of-the-box ensemble, and this time, an elite, super high fashion brand came together with a traditional, desi staple. © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana Aparshakti just wore an exquisite jacket by Alexander McQueen, that has a fiery orange pattern on a black base. However, what took it to a whole new level was what he paired it with. Take a look. © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana He went ahead and unapologetically paired the statement jacket with a perfectly draped desi black dhoti. Who could even come up with it? (Well that question was hypothetical because stylist Jay Samuel did, and how.) © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana What we love about the look is that it's a perfect melange of Indian and western aesthetics - two very distinctive styles that managed to co-exist here without having to clash. That bowtie and the leather brogue-jootis are everything! © Instagram/Aparshakti_khurana Talking about unusual sartorial combinations, this one definitely takes the cake, at least from whatever we have seen this year. Bravo, Aparshakti, for bringing the dhoti back, the right way.
  2. Aparshakti Khurana's style game has been on fire this year. From casually wearing the most unusual accessories to setting ramps on fire, this man is unstoppable right now and he clearly has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. He recently attended the Filmfare awards in an outfit that screams 'Desi chhora with a Hypebeast twist'. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani It's lit, right? We're obsessed with the super classy, quintessential striped kurta with a rustic organic vibe. But, what got us on our feet is what he decided to wear for lowers. He went for a statement white dhoti, draped to perfection, and paired it with a pair of - wait for it - Balenciaga sneakers. © Viral Bhayani © Instagram/Aparshakti_Khurana Like, what? Who even thinks of a pairing like this one? This one especially is tricky because A, it's extremely difficult to pull off an extreme mix-n-match like this one, and B, no one has done it before! Our Bollywood biggies love their Balenciagas, yes, but to pair them with a desi dhoti? Only someone who is extremely secure and sure about their style game will even attempt it. Aparshakti clearly has not only 'attempted' it, but sent it right outside the boundary. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani We like how even his accessories are a mix of 'desi' and 'phoren'. The white pocket square screams royalty, while the futuristic eyewear gives the whole outfit its inimitable edge. © Viral Bhayani Applause, Apar! More 'shakti' to your fashion game!
  3. When it comes to redemption in the domain of style, no one in Bollywood quite had it as successfully as a certain Mr Suniel Shetty. From shabby, ill-fitting clothes during the '90s to being the picture of suavity currently, at the age of 57 (what?), his style game has only improved with age - just like fine wine. What sets him apart from the crowd is his versatility, especially his comfort with pulling off traditional Indian wear as nonchalantly as athleisure. The way he pulls off a dhoti like it's no big deal, is one for the books, and here are 8 times he wore it, rocked it, and showed it why it needs to come back to our wardrobes immediately. 1. When he wore it with a smart black sherwani and paired it with a pocket square and black leather jootis. © Viral Bhayani 2. When he went for the most basic but most sophisticated outfit ever - the white dhoti with a white kurta. © Viral Bhayani 3. When he added a classy twist to the all-white dhoti kurta combo with a blue bandhgala waistcoat. © Instagram 4. A grey dhoti with a black border? Yes, please! © Twitter/SunielShetty_FC 5. Chillin' in the sun in a dhoti > Chillin' by the pool. © Instagram 6. When was the last time you saw someone casually taking a stroll by the mall in a dhoti? © Twitter/SunielShetty_FC 7. A black kurta on a white dhoti can look fierce. © Instagram 8. To being truly Indian - spiritually and sartorially. © Instagram Applause, Anna.
  4. Jackie Shroff doesn't care about what people think. He proved it multiple times during the 80s with a plethora of daring photo shoots, and continues to do it with his rather out-of-the-box style statement. He's not conventional in that domain, in the least, but we still were pleasantly surprised to see his unexpectedly playful, super chill outfit at Akash Ambani's wedding. Take a look. © Viral Bhayani He legit wore an outfit that looks Holi-ready, composed of a dhoti-kurta and a super colourful 'Satrangi' dupatta. Even Ranveer Singh wouldn't have dared to pull it off tbh. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Viral Bhayani (@viralbhayani) on Mar 9, 2019 at 3:01am PST We love the reckless abandon with which he seems to have tied the dhoti. The asymmetrical ends spell 'I'm here to chill' like nothing else, and his super comfortable Kolhapuris sure do testify! © Viral Bhayani Holi might be next week but we might as well start playing it because Jackie Shroff clearly already has. And why shouldn't he? Holi is fun and should start early and anyone who disagrees should just stay away with all that negativity. © Viral Bhayani All we can say is that we're in love with the outfit and that is the level of 'sartorial zen' we aspire to achieve. Jaggu Dada FTW!
  5. Whatever style gaffes Suniel Shetty might be a victim of during the '90s, he has more than made up for all of that now. He probably is the fittest dad in Bollywood right now with grown up kids, and his fashion game is so on point that the only proper analogy would be that of aging wine. From giving 25-year-olds a run for their money to giving SRK style complex, this man is a force to reckon with. He just proved it once again by attending Amit Thackeray's wedding reception wearing a plain white dhoti and making it look runway-ready. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The white cotton dhoti is perhaps the most 'Indian' outfit of all times, when it comes to menswear, but it is terribly underrated. Be it the comfort, the grace, or the raw, natural, masculine appeal it exudes - there is no other outfit that can score better. Suniel Shetty clearly understands it, as he stood tall, wearing a simple dhoti amongst the glam and glitz around, and stealing everyone's thunder nonetheless. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani A white kurta and a cotton dhoti not only makes for the most comfortable outfit ever, it is also the most regal one - in a sophisticated, subtle manner. The fact that he chose to wear a pair of brown Kolhapuris with it, and kept it comfy yet classy, shows that his style game is as effortlessly functional as it is smart. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani All we can say is the new crop of Bollywood youngsters need a style lesson from him about how to keep it simple yet stunning, urgently. Kudos!
