  1. Chivalry, courtesy and humanity are not lost in this world after all, and there are only a few things in life that actually remind me of it. Things like someone feeding a stray, a guy calling you back after a good date and in the most recent times - Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s fans supporting them and how. View this post on Instagram The power couple, that is also the butt of mindless and severe trolling for no good reason ever, was in South Africa as Anushka and their daughter Vamika decided to accompany Virat Kohli for the on-going cricket tournament. Sky sports reveal vamika face That's not right way @imVkohli @AnushkaSharma #vamika pic.twitter.com/RgWMwZvN7B — Pranab Halder (@Pranabhofficial) January 23, 2022 During the match, as Virat Kohli scored a half century and waved towards his loving wife and daughter, who were in the stands, cheering him on and giving him flying kisses, the TV broadcaster ended up revealing that very private moment and with it, Vamika’s face, to the entire world. View this post on Instagram You see, both Virat and Anushka had gone on record several times before to request and urge people to respect their daughter’s privacy and not try to see her face. They sent out personalised messages to the media, put out paragraphs on social media and repeatedly reiterated the same thing over and over again, hoping the paps and fans would understand their need to protect their daughter and her privacy. © Virat Kohli Virat to all those Broadcasters and Cameraman of Supersport for showing Anushka & Vamika in the stands! 2. Within a span of five months, Virat Kohli, who used to be the captain of the Indian cricket team in all three formats of the game and the leader of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, has been relieved of his duties as the skipper. In some cases, he did so willingly, while in others, he was fired (although, many believe that it was never his intention to give up his leadership in any format and that he was coerced into it). pic.twitter.com/huBL6zZ7fZ — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) January 15, 2022 However, the final chapter of Kohli’s captaincy sage ended on Saturday when the man decided to announce his resignation as the red ball captain of the team following the 2-1 defeat in South Africa - a series that the Men in Blue were expected to win rather comfortably because of the lack of big names present in the opposing side. Nonetheless, the fact of the matter remains that after seven years of successfully captaining the Indian Test squad and owning the most dominating winning record in the history of Indian cricket, the Delhi-born finally decided to get off the throne. View this post on Instagram As surprising and heartbreaking as this would be for all the die-hard supporters of the cricketer, it was a sight for sore eyes when India’s neighbouring rival, Pakistan poured in best wishes and undying support for the former skipper. Some of the biggest and more famous names of Pakistani cricket, including Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah backed him up and shared some incredible messages of love, respect and sportsmanship which was highly appreciated by Kohli’s Indian fans. @imVkohli brother for me u are a true leader of upcoming generation in cricket because u are inspiration for young Cricketers. keep rocking on and of the field. pic.twitter.com/0ayJoaCC3k — Mohammad Amir (@iamamirofficial) January 15, 2022You are the inspiration for many! https://t.co/0xa9mVAoHv — Naseem Shah (@iNaseemShah) January 15, 2022A common notion among Kohli’s fans from India was that he was receiving more love and attention from his admirers from across the border than he was from within the country. Mutual hero of Pakistan and India... — Modern__Malang (@Modern__Malang) January 15, 2022It has been speculated that ever since Kohli contradicted BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s statement on national television, his days as the captain were numbered and that not winning the Test series in South Africa - a feat no other Indian captain as ever achieved either, was seen as the good enough reason to side-track him. Former Indian captain, Sunil Gavaskar suggested very strongly, that had Kohli not announced his resignation now, it would have been a matter of days that the BCCI would have stripped him off his red-ball duties just as they did a couple a weeks ago when they took away his ODI leadership as well. 3. Actress Urfi Javed is back in the news yet again, for her experimental and sartorial fashion choices. The Bigg Boss OTT star has often been called out for her looks which were sometimes copied from models Kylie and Kendall Jenner. View this post on Instagram While Urfi owns up to her choices and is confident about what she wears, the internet can be a rude space for trolling and eve teasing. Urfi recently shared a DIY video where she is sharing a hack around how to make a top out of a pair of stockings and what was supposedly a nice tutorial video, soon turned into a trollers' ground. View this post on Instagram © Instagram Urfi’s followers seem to be divided into two categories. While some continue to support her bold choices and love her for her experimental fashion looks, some people continue indulging in some random moral policing which is not really required. Anyway, you do you, Urfi! View the full article
  4. Being teased is possibly one of the most exciting feelings in the world, especially when the thing being offered in return is worth it. But the catch here is that it needs to be in proportion so the person doesn’t lose interest. After all, there is a thin line between teasing someone and frustrating them to the core. Like the one that the team for the upcoming film ‘Brahmastra’ has recently crossed, after it posted a few BTS pictures from the sets of the movie, driving several fans to the point where they were forced to say things like, “release nahi kar sakte toh bata do.” View this post on Instagram And honestly, they aren’t to be blamed. Year after year, both the hype and the wait for this film by Ayan Mukerji that is supposed to star actors like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, has increased, leaving fans exasperated. A recent set of BTS pictures from the shoot showed Ayan sitting Ranbir and Alia down on a patch of artificial grass while the set behind them gets ready. In another picture, Amitabh Bachchan can be seen in his character talking to Ayan. A similar picture featuring Nagarjuna Akkineni and the fourth is a silhouette of Ayan and Mouni Roy. View this post on Instagram While the pictures were exciting insights into this much-awaited project, it did annoy a few fans who were done with the years-long wait for the film. Turns out, the movie was slated to be released on August 15, 2019, while the logo of the movie was to be unveiled at the Kumbh Mela on March 4, 2019. However, later the release date got pushed to Christmas 2019 and then to summer 2020 for the VFX was too heavy. © Instagram Like this, after getting pushed for several other times, fans lost their cool this time and called the team out for testing their patience. One user wrote, “If possible, also release the damn film instead of keeping your audience waiting for over 7 years with the same nonsense and posting pictures once in a while to pacify them. Release nahi kar sakte toh bata do (let us know if you cannot release it),” while another frustrated fan commented, “Bhai kab release karoge? Next panchvarshiya yojna me (Brother, when will you release it? In the next five-year plan)?”. © Twitter The most-awaited film for the year is part of a three-part epic fantasy film series and is said to have been made on a budget of more than Rs. 300 crores. 5. Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve and never shies away from speaking his mind both on and off the field. Unlike his predecessor MS Dhoni who used to deal with everything with a cool head, Kohli is not known for his calmness and maturity. We have often seen him losing his cool during press conferences and many of us wonder why he reacts in the manner that he does. On numerous occasions, Kohli has described the public criticism as “nonsense” and something which doesn’t affect him at all. But there was a time when it did. In fact, in the early part of his career, he used to try extra hard to prove others that he belonged to this level and put himself under undue pressure which affected his game massively. © Reuters In Kohli’s own words, he used to treat every foreign tour like an “engineering exam” and wanted to show people that he was good enough to play at the highest level. "To be honest, before that Australia tour, I was treating every foreign tour like, more like an engineering exam, that I have to pass somehow and I have to show people that I can play at this level," Kohli told Dinesh Karthik during a Sky Sports interview. © Twitter/SkySports This unnecessary pressure affected his game and then came the England tour in 2014 where he failed miserably and even went through depression. The failure worked as an eye-opener for him and he realised whoever he was trying to please had nothing to do with his life. During his struggle days, not many people came forward to help him and that was when he realised that to succeed, he would have to cut the white noise down and instead of winning people over, his focus should be only on his performance. "There I realised that once you are down and out, there was hardly anyone who came to help me, there was hardly anyone who was looking towards me and saying listen let’s work together and you know try to get your game up to speed, everyone was just going after me left, right and centre. So, I was like I am playing to prove these people wrong, for what, I have got nothing to do with them, they literally have nothing to contribute in my life,” said Kohli, explaining why he turned a cold shoulder to the public opinion from critics as well as the media. © Reuters Kohli went into the next series against Australia with a new approach and found instant success as he scored nearly 700 runs, with the help of four hundreds and since then, he has never allowed anyone’s opinion affect him and his game. That said, a public figure can’t run away from criticism and our only advice for the Indian captain would be that instead of slamming the critics, he should learn to respect their opinions. 6. Yes, you read that right. As a Delhiite, two sets of emotions have probably hit you with this headline. You are either elated, your Whatsapp family/friends groups are already buzzing, or, like most of us, you are wondering if this just another ploy to ‘divert’ the attention from the living hell that the capital city turned into, courtesy the deadly Covid wave that attacked us. The Delhi government has announced that home delivery of Indian and foreign liquor will now be allowed through an app and a web portal. The delivery will not be done at a hostel, office or an institution. As soon as the news came in, people on social media were divided in their opinion. A lot of people are actually happy about this and to mark this celebration, memes have obviously started floating. 7. With an abject lack of a strong health infrastructure and people not taking precautions, it won’t be very surprising to witness India getting hit by the third wave of Coronavirus. K Vijay Raghavan, principal scientific advisor to India's government has already declared that the third wave of Covid-19 was inevitable looking at the current surge in infections. © Reuters “A phase three is inevitable, given the high levels of circulating virus, but it is not clear on what time scale this phase 3 will occur. Hopefully, incrementally, but we should prepare for new waves. Previous infections and vaccines will cause adaptive pressure on the virus for new kinds of changes which try to escape, and, therefore, we should be prepared, scientifically to take care of that,” he said in his recent statement. When people got to know about the news regarding the probable third wave, they filled Twitter with their concerns through memes. © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter "The third surge in India which is around the corner according to experts will affect children. So when a child goes to the hospital, the mother and father will also have to go. That is why vaccination will have to be over for this group of people. we need to plan for this scientifically and thus make an arrangement," a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud also added in his statement as quoted by Bar and Bench. © Reuters If people keep continuing to be reckless and the health infrastructure continues to deteriorate, the third wave will be more dangerous. Meanwhile, on Wednesday (May 5, 2021), India registered 382,315 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the preceding 24 hours, pushing the nationwide infection tally past 20.66 million. 8. If you’re a ‘chai lover’ then you know that our country is obsessed with tea and chai break is a legit thing. Also, there are many tea sellers and every nukkad has a new ‘tea seller’ who is famous for selling something unique in it. © Unsplash However, a tea seller in Kolkata has left everyone behind and taken things to next level as he is selling it for Rs 1000. Tea Stall owner in Kolkata’s Mukundapur sells various varieties of tea starting from Rs 12 to Rs 1000 per cup. The shop is owned by Partha Pratim Ganguly where he has around 100 varieties of tea. © Unsplash According to a report by TOI, “The highest costing tea that is priced at Rs 1,000 is the Bo-Lei tea that costs Rs 3 lakh per kilogram. Bo-Lei, also known as Pu-Erh tea or Puer, Po Lei, Bolay tea, and Dark Tea is a tea made in China. The Bo-Lei tea is made from Camellia Sinensis tea which is the same plant that is used to make green and black tea. Bo-Lei, however, is fermented and oxidized which gives the tea a unique deep, earthy flavor. Because of the fermentation of Bolay, it even gives the tea an incredible shelf life and allows the tea to age well. Besides Bolay other varieties of tea that are sold at the shop include Blue Tisane Tea, Teesta Valley Tea, Silver Needle White Tea, Lavender Tea, Hibiscus Tea, Wine Tea, Tulsi Ginger Tea, Makaibari Tea, Rooibos Tea, and Okayti Tea." © Unsplash This tea seller’s story is extremely inspirational and persuades us to follow our dream. 9. With the ongoing Test series between India and England being of extreme importance with regards to the World Test Championship, fans from all over the country had travelled to Gujarat to witness the first-ever pink-ball match at the Narendra Modi stadium. They were hoping to witness five days (February 24 to February 28) of quality international cricket between two of the giants of the game, having a good time at the world’s largest cricket stadium, and witness history in the making. While history was most certainly made, it was just not the kind the spectators were expecting to become a part of. Shortest Tests in post war era ending in a result (balls) 842 Ind v Eng, Ahmedabad 2020/21 872 Aus v NZ, Wellington 1945/46 883 Eng v SA, Centurion 1999/00 893 Aus v Pak, Sharjah 2002/03 * winner denoted first + two innings forfeited#INDvENG — Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) February 25, 2021 The Day-Night match started at 2:30 PM IST on Wednesday but got finished a little after supper on Thursday. Only 842 balls were delivered during this period, while wrapping up all four innings and officially making it the shortest Test match since World War II. The inability shown by Joe Root and the rest of the English batsmen against India’s spinners led to an early collapse of the touring side in the first innings, leaving the Men in Blue with a mundane total of 112 runs to chase. View this post on Instagram Following a half-century by opener Rohit Sharma, vanishing England’s not-so-impressive lead did not take a lot of time. In the first couple of overs on Day 2, India had already overtaken England’s score and were well on their way towards a big advantage. Once India were wrapped up at 145 with a 33-run lead for the Englishmen in the second innings, the dominance of the Indian spinners returned once again to haunt the visitors. This time around, the experience was even worse as England could only score 81 runs and gave a 49-run target to the Men in Blue to win the match. View this post on Instagram Within half an hour of supper, the opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill was able to chase it down and allow their side to win by 10 wickets. As impressive as this win was for the Virat Kohli-led side, it also meant that the Test, which was supposed to go on for three more days had suddenly come to an end and the fans who had paid good money to be there, were left worried about credible returns. They started sharing pictures of their tickets on social media requesting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to give them a refund: @ICC @BCCI #MoteraStadium #MoteraTestMatch #NarendraModiStadium #INDvsENG #INDvsENG_2021 I want my refund !!!! pic.twitter.com/E7rZpb1ZFc — Mimicrywala (@mimicrywala) February 26, 2021@BCCI @GCAMotera bhai refund milega?#BCCI #EngvsInd #INDvsENG pic.twitter.com/Lo3pzW8SCi — Yash (@YashTweeets) February 25, 2021@BCCI refund my money. pic.twitter.com/W1dOyMb6tz — $mokey (@IndianSmokey) February 26, 2021While the eligibility for a refund in case a Test match ends sooner than five days varies between different cricket associations, rumours of the BCCI and Gujarat Cricket Association considering a refund due to the early conclusion of the match are floating about. And finally, their wish is coming true. The entire 'release the Zack Snyder cut' campaign online actually worked and a new, probably better, version of the movie is all set to come out in 2021. © Warner Bros He elaborated further, "There's one scene where Batman drops an F-bomb. Cyborg is not too happy with what's going on with his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to speak his mind. And Steppenwolf is pretty much just hacking people in half. So [the rating would be due to] violence and profanity, probably both." View the full article

His hysterical rants are famous for becoming popular memes, but who knew they'd even serve as fodder for the people who love making remixes. We all have heard budding musician, Yashraj Mukhate's remix of the news anchor’s ‘Mujhe Drugs Do’ rant. And now, another artist called Mayur Jumani has come up with a crazy version of Arnab’s rap and we cannot help but trip on it. Mayur has brought all his recent debates together, be it asking where’s Salman Khan to Mujhe Drugs Do to tracking the marijuana racket involving celebs. And we have to admit, the result is pretty hilarious. The state machinery unleashed on us is making us all stronger, every day." View the full article
  12. Yesterday we stood witness to the massive difference social media virality and a little effort can make to one's life. As people thronged the tiny street side food joint in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, now famously known to all as ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ we saw how a simple share and a few social media mentions helped an elderly couple turn their day around and find the light at the end of the tunnel. While every person did their bit to amplify the old vendors’ plight and help them out in some way, popular dating app Tinder also decided to do its bit and used its Twitter handle to “recommend” Baba Ka Dhaba as the next date spot for couples. We recommend #BabaKaDhabha for your next date — Tinder India (@Tinder_India) October 8, 2020 While the gesture itself was appreciated by people who found it rather ‘sweet’ of them to make such a recommendation which would further help the old couple get some more customers, others following the account had different, and might we add, legit concerns.
