Whenever a new IPL season starts, all eyes are on the players who went for big big bucks in the auction. Ahead of IPL 2022, there were several players, both capped and uncapped, who caused a bidding war among franchises in the auction and made them pay exorbitant amounts to include them on their roster. Like most teams, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) had also made some exciting signings in the mega auction. That’s why when these two former champions faced each other in their opening match, their fans were obviously excited to see these new signings doing justice to their price tag. View this post on Instagram However, only some of them were able to fulfill the fans’ expectations and the majority of them belonged to the Rajasthan-based outfit which helped them start their IPL 2022 campaign with a massive 61-run win over their Southern rivals at the MCA stadium in Pune. Chasing a massive total, the SRH batting unit crumbled like a pack of cards, with two of their top four batters folding for a duck and two others managing a single-digit score. View this post on Instagram Most of the SRH batters cut a sorry figure but according to fans the biggest disappointment was the West Indies white-ball skipper vice-captain Nicholas Pooran, who got out for a nine-ball duck. Overall, it was his sixth duck in 34 IPL innings. Barring a few odd occasions, Pooran’s IPL record has been far from satisfactory but still the SRH management splashed a whopping Rs 10.75 crore on him in the auction last month. View this post on Instagram At the time, the decision had left everyone surprised but his dismissal last night provided the fans with an opportunity to go after him and the franchise and they did so in the most hilarious manner possible. In the last 14 IPL innings, Pooran has managed double-digit scores only twice and the fans turned his misery into a meme fest on the micro-blogging site. Former India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane paid the price for his inconsistent form when he was dropped from India’s Test squad last week for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Along with Rahane, several other senior players Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha and Ishant Sharma were also shown the exit door by the senior national selection panel and were asked to play Ranji Trophy for their respective state units. © Reuters On his return to the domestic circuit after a long time, the Mumbai batter stole the limelight by scoring a century against defending champions Saurashtra in the first innings as the match ended in a draw. It was the first century to have come off Rahane’s bat in over 12 months. His knock had increased the hopes of his fans who wanted him to succeed in domestic cricket and make a comeback to the Indian team. © Reuters However, they were all left disappointed on Thursday morning when the right-handed batter got out for a three-ball duck in the first innings against Goa. Rahane was trapped leg before by young fast bowler Lakshay Garg. Even when Rahane was in the Indian team, consistency was an issue and that’s what cost him his place in the side. After he failed to open his account, the people started trolling him, saying that the old habits don’t die that easily and he had returned to his normal. He scored two boundaries during his brief stay in the middle and was dismissed for eight runs. © Reuters Both Rahane and Pujara have served the Indian cricket team for a long time and have played a key role in the team's success all over the world. However, their poor form has forced the selectors to look for their alternatives. Although the selectors have not shut the door on them completely, it’s hard to see them making a comeback to the red-ball squad. The only way both these senior players can force the selectors to pick them is by piling runs on a consistent basis. These hits and misses are not going to help their cause. View the full article

If you are a Virat Kohli fan, we feel for you, as the former India captain is going through a nightmare as a batter. He had scores of eight and 18 coming into the third and final ODI against the West Indies. However, things went from bad to worst for Kohli as he was sent packing by Alzarri Joseph for a second-ball duck at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kohli's first ODI series under the new white-ball captain Rohit Sharma ended in the worst possible fashion as he could only manage 26 runs in three outings. “You don’t need to be a captain to be the leader.” This is what Virat Kohli said before the start of the West Indies series. Kohli’s mature outlook towards leadership deserved all the praise but unfortunately some people had a problem with that as well. The former skipper was bashed heavily as people called him “egoistic” and accused him of undermining the role of the new captain Rohit Sharma. © Reuters The kinds of hatred that he received after his comments went viral on social media clearly showed that not many people understood the true meaning of his words. All he meant was that he had moved on from the ODI captaincy and would continue to be a leader within the group and help the youngsters through his experience as he had been doing before. It didn’t matter if he was the captain of the side or not. © Twitter People who misunderstood Kohli and described his statement as arrogant finally got to see what he actually meant during the first ODI against the West Indies. He might not be the appointed captain anymore but the leader in him is still alive. We saw that when his small piece of advice to leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal worked wonders for India and resulted in the big wicket of the opposition skipper Kieron Pollard. © Twitter Chahal had already trapped Nicholas Pooran on the previous ball with his traditional variation but when Pollard walked out in the middle, the former skipper advised him to welcome him to the crease with a wrong-one. The 31-year-old spinner bowled a loopy googly, as suggested by Kohli and moments later they were all celebrating as Pollard was cleaned up trying to play a lofted drive against the turn on his very first ball. #INDvsWI #AskSportsTak@imVkohli is still actively involved in the game...Prompted something to @yuzi_chahal and @KieronPollard55 bowled on duck ... pic.twitter.com/TTETvIfOzV — Shashank Bhalekar (@TheShaStories) February 6, 2022 “Ulta wala daal... bindaas daal (Don't worry, bowl the wrong'un),” Kohli told Chahal. This kind of advice was a regular feature when MS Dhoni used to keep wickets and fans loved the former skipper taking a leaf out of his book and helping the spinner with his game plan. After dismissing the opposition skipper for a golden duck, Chahal turned to Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma to celebrate the wicket. This conversation was caught in the stump mic and soon it started doing rounds on the internet as people praised Kohli’s astute understanding of the game. © Twitter BCCI However, the celebration that became a huge talking point on social media was Kohli and Rohit sharing a laugh while celebrating the dismissal. Apart from helping Chahal snare the big fish, Kohli even convinced Rohit to go for the DRS despite Rishabh Pant’s reluctance. © Twitter BCCI He might not be the skipper anymore but Rohit knows what value Kohli brings to the table and how valuable his advice is to the team. Watching them celebrate Pollard’s wicket like best buddies, one thing is clear that the speculation of rift between them doesn’t exist beyond social media. © Twitter BCCI Chahal picking up a wicket by following Kohli’s advice is a lesson for all those who misunderstood the former skipper’s mature stance on leadership before the series. There were several instances throughout the match that proved what Kohli said was right and that a senior player like him doesn’t need a captain to act as a leader on the field. View the full article

T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan ? the only team without a duck

Bangladesh's batters have been gone for a duck for nine times ? the most in Super 12s -
Couple of days into the first Test between India and England and we have already seen an exhilarating contest between bat and ball. While Day 1 belonged to Indian bowlers, the Indian openers dominated the opening hour’s play on Day 2 but the hosts bounced back and picked up four quick wickets. The biggest setback was the dismissal of Indian skipper Virat Kohli who departed for a ‘Golden Duck’ after edging a wide fourth-stump delivery straight into wicketkeeper Jos Buttler’s gloves. England veteran fast bowler James Anderson proved to be his nemesis once again as he forced him to drive a full delivery outside off stump and induced an outside edge. WOWWWW! @jimmy9 gets Kohli first ball and Trent Bridge is absolutely rocking! Scorecard/Clips: https://t.co/5eQO5BWXUp#ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/g06S0e4GN7 — England Cricket (@englandcricket) August 5, 2021 The dismissal reminded many of Kohli’s struggle during the 2014 tour when he had no answer to Anderson’s quality bowling and failed miserably. Learning from his mistakes in 2014, the Indian captain tweaked his technique and reaped the rewards when he toured England in 2018 and amassed 593 runs to the series as the leading run-scorer. More importantly, he didn’t allow Anderson to get him out throughout the series and the Indian supporters were hoping for something similar but were left disappointed in the very first innings of the ongoing tour. © Reuters Since 2014, Kohli has had the upper hand over Anderson as he kept at bay for seven years. The last time Kohli got out to Anderson was way back during the 2014 Manchester Test but his long wait came to an end on Thursday. With this, the pacer has now taken Kohli’s wicket six times in Test cricket, including twice for a duck. © Reuters The manner in which Kohli got out brought back memories that no Indian fan wanted to experience that too so early in the series. Disappointed fans vented out their frustration on social media and started trolling the skipper. I mean seriously? What is this sudden forward push, on THE FIRST BALLLLL!!!! Nevertheless, you are the king — Pooja Sharma (@iamproudPooja) August 5, 2021 The reason why Kohli succeeded on his last tour of England was because he left the ball outside off-stump diligently and played Anderson with extra caution but this time, he forgot to do the basic thing right and paid a heavy price. Even the 39-year-old England pacer didn’t expect Kohli to take his bait and go for a drive but was over the moon after getting the prized scalp and the way he jumped in the air was enough to convey what it meant for him. © Reuters “I feel like I’ve challenged Virat in that area before. He either played or missed or left it. He’s always been good enough to sort of get through and today it was just one of those days where he nicked it. Getting Kohli out that early was quite unusual,” Anderson said during the press conference after stumps on Day 2. “He’s such a big wicket. To bowl the ball exactly where I wanted it to and for him to nick it as well. It was just an outpouring of emotions to get the team back into the game. Getting their best player out is something that doesn't happen all that often,” he said when asked about his exaggerated celebration. © Reuters We only hope that Kohli reflects on his dismissal and learns from the mistake in the upcoming innings. He has certainly proven that he can dominate the English bowlers, it’s just the matter of spending some time in the middle. View the full article

It is safe to say that Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s debut in the Indian Premier League 2021 did not go the way he or any of his fans had thought. Walking down to the pitch after the dismissal of Suresh Raina, the skipper gave up his wicket on just the second delivery he faced as he helped bowler Avesh Khan get some caught-and-bowled practice early in the season. However, the duck-out wasn’t even the end of his misery through the night as the Delhi Capitals batsmen walked all over Dhoni’s bowlers and successfully chased down a 188-run total with eight balls to spare. To add to his pain, Dhoni was also slapped with a Rs. 12 lakh fine at the end of the match for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second half. Sure, during the two practice matches that CSK had within their squad, Dhoni’s power and unorthodox batting were put on display and were highlighted by social media platforms all over the world to make the followers of the game believe that he was back for a revenge season but the fact remains that Dhoni hasn’t had a decent innings since ICC World Cup 2019. After doing a fair job of dismissing the England cricket team for a decent 205 run total in the first innings, it was time for the Men in Blue to build a promising batting stint and sneak an opportunity to take the lead early in the Test. However, with the quick dismissals of top-order batsmen like Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara, a lot was riding on the shoulders of India skipper Virat Kohli, who was hoping to get over his struggles with the bat after failing to get a century in the last 32 matches, including all formats of the game. Fans Are As Surprised As Virat Kohli After The Skipper Departs For A 5-Ball Duck
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online News
Indian skipper Virat Kohli was left befuddled when he was bowled through the gates by a stunning delivery from Moeen Ali. Kohli was bowled for a duck after facing just five deliveries. India got off to a poor start in the first innings after captain Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first. Shubhman Gill was dismissed for a duck but Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara steadied the ship and were on track for a big partnership. However, Jack Leach was quick to strike and dismiss Pujara. Lunch! 🇮🇳 - 106/3 England strike back with the wickets of Pujara and Kohli late in the session but Rohit's aggressive 80 was the highlight of the morning session. https://t.co/rIYzLO2AY4 #INDvsENG — Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) February 13, 2021 Kohli fell soon after to Moeen Ali’s incredible delivery. It was followed by pin-drop silence in the Chepauk stadium as Kohli went back to the pavilion after having faced just five deliveries. The crowd was really looking forward to the skipper’s batting as they were cheering on even after Pujara was dismissed by Leach. Skipper Kohli, however, was left shell-shocked at his dismissal. Shocked by his dismissal, he was still not ready to leave the pitch even though the England players were celebrating around him. This made the on-field umpire refer the decision to the third umpire to find out if the ball had actually hit the stumps. As it turned out, the ball had actually hit the top of the middle stump as Kohli tried to play a rather loose shot, driving away from his body, thus falling prey to Ali’s delivery. But the skipper’s disbelief was there to be seen at the middle of the pitch. While it left some of the Indian fans embarrassed, some were quick to highlight captain Kohli’s weakness against off-spinners. So when the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, Ajinkya Rahane ended up losing his wicket for a duck on the second delivery he faced in the second innings, viewers’ eyes caught the hilarious reaction by official Nitin Menon, who was standing behind the stumps at the moment. Look at the umpire after Jimmy bowled Rahane.. shocking pic.twitter.com/2hq67cRf2B — Superdeco (@Superdeco44) February 9, 2021 After England’s veteran bowler James Anderson stunned Rahane with a blinding in-swinger which snuck past his bat and pad and ended up ripping the stumps off the ground, the cameraman focused on the bowler celebrating the wicket. What a ripper! Who is collecting the stumps behind? 🤯🤯 Anderson, hold your breath man! #INDvENG Rahane pic.twitter.com/M3UbzykB0b — Karamdeep Singh (@oyeekd) February 9, 2021 However, Menon could be seen covering his face with his hand in the background and quickly trying to put a lid on his emotions. The umpire’s response became particularly hilarious because he had just missed a call on the previous delivery when Anderson had appealed for a Leg-Before-Wicket as the ball rushed past Rahane’s bat and hit on his foot which was right in front of the middle stump. Had Menon raised his finger on the appeal, Rahane would have had to return to the pavilion with a golden duck and the English pace-man would have the chance to get a hat-trick. Fans were quick to notice Menon’s reaction and couldn’t stop themselves from talking about it online: Look at the umpire after Jimmy bowled Rahane.. shocking pic.twitter.com/2hq67cRf2B — Superdeco (@Superdeco44) February 9, 2021At Rahane dismissal... Umpire Nitin Menon was so upset .... bc not out diya aur next ball out hua — Rohit Devadiga (@drunken_09) February 9, 2021Nitin menon’s (umpire) expression after saving rahane the previous ball is literally jokessss hahaha he is like why tf did I just save u bc #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/BQGl7m4Xit — Sahil (@s122kumar) February 9, 2021What an over by Anderson. The look on Indian umpire face when Anderson bowled out Rahane 🤣 — hasnain (@hasnazirr) February 9, 2021The first session of Day 5 has been particularly great for James Anderson who has done early damage to the Indian batting order with some exceptional bowling and deadly reverse swing removing names like Shubman Gill, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant off the pitch in just six overs. As the day progresses, the chances of India ending the match on a draw are plummeting at a high rate. Even though Kohli is still in the middle, the duck-out by Washington Sundar, who was arguably the last proper batsman who could have led the team to a desirable conclusion, might just be the final nail in Team India’s coffin. The ODI series between India and West Indies has once again become extremely interesting as the former made an impressive comeback in the second match, scored 387 runs while batting first and wrapped up their opposition for 280. While the performance was exceptional on its own, it, more importantly, has brought the series to a tie with the decider scheduled to take place at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha on Sunday, December 22. India & West Indies teams arrive in #Bhubaneswar for 3rd ODI https://t.co/6elOl9e5ik pic.twitter.com/gD815fNkFy — Odisha Diary (@odishadiary) December 19, 2019 And even though the winning-momentum during the past two matches has been swinging like a pendulum, what makes the contest between the two sides so exciting is the brewing rivalry between the players from each team. Be it Mohammed Shami staring Shai Hope right in the eyes after surprising him with a sudden bouncer or Kesrick Williams' 'Finger on your lips' celebration during the T20I series, the two teams surely know the right buttons to push to get a reaction out of their rivals. height of trolling.. To be frank, the rivalry is more of Kohli celebrating the achievements of his teammates and Pollard getting annoyed by it but because we are nice to our guests, we shall call it a dead-even strife. ”You have to ask him why he is so animated. I can't answer that for you. It is what it is. You ask him that question and let him answer that. I don't know. However, he seemed to be overjoyed when Kieron Pollard faced the same fate later in the day. Virat Kohli 0 (1) Kieron Pollard 0 (1) For the first time in ODI History, both Captains have been OUT for a GOLDEN DUCK ð¦. #IndvWI — Israr Ahmed Hashmi (@IamIsrarHashmi) December 18, 2019 After the loss, Pollard said: "You have to ask him why he is so animated. I can't answer that for you. It is what it is. You ask him that question and let him answer that. I don't know. I have no clue." Both Kohli and Pollard are masters of their work, albeit in different ways. One depends on his strength, and the other depends on his timing and technique. With three days to go for the final match of the series, it will be interesting to see how this particular rivalry unfolds. View the full article

Ever since making their ICC World Cup debut in 1992, South Africa have struggled to justify their talent. The perennial underachievers of cricket, the Proteas have reached the semifinals on four occasions but just couldn't hold their nerve to go all the way. But, as their hunt for an elusive maiden title goes on, the current crop of players and the new-look South African squad offer great promise going into this year's World Cup. Led by Faf du Plessis, South Africa's 15-man squad is a healthy composition of youth and experience. From batting to bowling, the Proteas have a lot of options to choose from but the key will be to find the right team balance to launch a strong title charge in England & Wales. © Reuters The availability of Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla, Aiden Markram, Du Plessis, David Miller, JP Duminy and Rassie van der Dussen in their squad allows the Proteas to forge a strong batting line-up. On the other hand, the likes of Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi should make up for a competitive bowling attack. When it comes to all-rounders, the expertise of Andile Phehlukwayo and Chris Morris will also come in handy for South Africa. On paper, the Proteas look solid but a lot will depend on their key players if the Du Plessis brigade aims to break the duck this year. Quinton de Kock © Reuters Arguably one of the most destructive openers in the world, Quinton de Kock needs no introduction to hitting the ball hard and long. The left-handed batsman has made the opening slot his own on the back of consistent performances for South Africa over the years. Going into the World Cup, he will surely be South Africa's first-choice for the opening slot, while Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram will be seen fighting to be his partner. Going by his form, De Kock is coming off a successful IPL campaign with Mumbai Indians (MI) who romped to their fourth title earlier this year. De Kock was key to their success while batting at the top and the Proteas will hope he carries his fine form into the World Cup. Given his batting might, De Kock will be bestowed with the responsibility of getting his team to a flying start and then build on his innings to propel South Africa to a big total (or chase down a target). Faf du Plessis © Reuters One of the most experienced candidates in the squad, Faf du Plessis will be seen leading the charge for South Africa in the World Cup. The 34-year-old has proved his credentials as a potent leader with favourable results for his side over the years. And, in England & Wales, the Pretoria-born cricketer will once again be expected to lead from the front to aid his team's cause. Apart from rallying his troops and making decisive calls on the field, Du Plessis has another key role in the South African side which is chasing the elusive title this year. Du Plessis' experience and craftsmanship with the bat will see him stabilising the middle-order. And, in case of a batting collapse, Du Plessis can surely come in handy to hold fort at one end. Chris Morris © Reuters Chris Morris might have been included in the South African squad as a last-minute replacement for injured Anrich Nortje, but that shouldn't overshadow his capabilities as a proven all-rounder. The 32-year-old possesses the pace and death-bowling skills that adds teeth to the Proteas' bowling attack, while his explosive batting provides the much-needed depth to their batting. Going into the World Cup, Morris will be seen providing adequate support to the likes of Rabada, Steyn and Ngidi in the middle overs. And, his role as a deadly finisher should also help the Proteas to accelerate the innings in the death overs. Kagiso Rabada © Reuters In recent years, no other fast bowler has managed to capture the imagination of fans the way Kagiso Rabada has. At the age of 23, Rabada has already established himself as one of the most consistent fast bowlers in the world. Tipped to be a South African great, Rabada has topped the ICC's bowler rankings in both Tests and ODIs, making him South Africa's key figures at this year's World Cup. Clocking speeds of 150kmph with a languid action, Rabada's ability to swing the ball both ways and delivering yorkers with pinpoint accuracy makes him Du Plessis' go-to man to get a breakthrough in dire situations. If that's not enough, Rabada's scintillating form (25 wickets in 12 IPL matches this year) further makes him a deadly weapon for the Proteas. Imran Tahir © Reuters Aged 40, Pakistan-born South African spinner Imran Tahir might seem old, but the age-factor takes a backseat every time you throw a ball at him. Known for his biggest weapon - the googly, Tahir has earned a reputation for being able to dictate the middle-periods of games while providing vital breakthroughs to his side. And, over the years, Tahir has proved to be a valuable weapon for the Proteas. A spinner whose celebratory run lasts longer than most fast-bowler's run-ups, Tahir has undeniably established himself as one of the best limited-overs leg-spinners of his time. Playing his last ODI tournament, Tahir carries his brilliant form from the IPL to the World Cup. Taking 26 wickets (most in IPL this season) and almost propelling Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the title, Tahir could very well turn out to be the deciding factor for South Africa in the World Cup.

Owing to his technique and application, Kannanur Lokesh Rahul has, for long, been labelled as one of the highly-rated opening batsmen in India's next generation of cricketers. A tall, elegant right-hander who can also keep wickets if required, Rahul, for a better part of his career, has checked all the boxes across formats. But, when the Karnataka cricketer isn't seen playing his majestic cover drives or cutting a sorry figure for the opposition bowlers with his clean hitting, Rahul has looked absolutely ridiculous on his long walks back to the pavilion - something that has happened more often in the ongoing Test series between India and Australia than the Indian opener or his fans would've liked. Despite a series of inconsistent performances (barring his 149 against England at The Oval) in the longest format, the right-handed batsman was backed by the Indian selectors and team management ahead of regular opener Shikhar Dhawan - who'd be happily twirling his moustache at his Melbourne home - to come good Down Under. But, until now, everyone's been waiting for Rahul, one that we all fell in love with, to arrive in Australia. © AP The 26-year-old was dismissed for just 2 runs in the first innings at the Adelaide Oval. But, while the critics began circling around him like sharks all over a dead whale, Rahul fend them off with a crucial 44-run knock in the second innings as India romped to a 31-run win. Though he still didn't score a fifty, Rahul's innings had many convinced that his dismal run in the format was probably coming to an end as India geared up to extend their lead going into the 2nd Test. But, it wasn't meant to be. Quickly turning into a bunny for Josh Hazlewood, Rahul, once again, fell prey to the Australian seamer in the first innings at Perth. He was clean bowled by Hazlewood at, yet another, disappointing score of 2 runs. And, then, in the second innings, Rahul did well not to give bragging rights to Hazlewood for the second consecutive Test, but he couldn't stop Mitchell Starc from shattering his stumps before opening his account. KL Rahul: My job is to see off the new ball. New Ball: My job is to see off KL Rahul. — Ramesh Srivats (@rameshsrivats) December 17, 2018 If Rahul's disappointing scores weren't enough, the fact that he couldn't decide whether to leave Starc's delivery or play it before it got an inside edge and crashed onto the stumps, further summed up his current form. In the process, Rahul also claimed an unwanted record, one that he's not going to forget soon. Following his dismissal for a duck in the second innings, Rahul has now been bowled seven times in his last 11 Test innings. He has equalled Sunil Gavaskar with the most number of dismissals as 'bowled' in both innings of a Test. While Gavaskar was bowled in both the innings of a single Test on three occasions in 125 matches, Rahul has achieved the infamous feat in only 33 Tests. Thus, there was no surprise to see the Indian cricket fans taking to the social media to express their disappointment at Rahul's dismal run. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the finest cricketers of his time. But at times even the best have to go through some of the worst situations and Dhoni is no different. In Dhoni's career too, there have been occasions where he had to face an embarrassing defeat at the hands of his opponents. His latest defeat happened on Tuesday at the Asia Cup, against Hong Kong in Dubai. © Twitter It wasn't a good outing for India's 'Captain Cool', as he left the field without scoring any runs against Hong Kong in Asia Cup. Dhoni got out for a duck to the ball delivered by Ehsan Khan. The stadium was filled with cheers for Dhoni when he came inside the field to play his innings, but by the third ball that excitement and happiness evaporated in thin air, and what remained was a feeling of shock and disbelief in the eyes of every person watching the match. © Twitter Dhoni's dismissal left many of his fans disappointed, but if there's anyone who was more disappointed than Dhoni and the entire team was probably this 9-year-old kid whose reaction was caught on camera and is now going viral. pic.twitter.com/XF9R3BVYQO — Gentlemen's Game (@DRVcricket) September 18, 2018 Like all of us, this kid too had huge expectations from Dhoni and reportedly was watching Dhoni play live for the first time. He was seen yelling and pushing the chair angrily and we guess in that one moment most of us saw our childhood in him. We can understand the pain, kid. After all its not everyday that you see your idol getting out for a zero. In Dhoni's case we've seen it happen only 9 times. However, both Dhoni and Team India will now have to pull up their socks to compete against Pakistan in the match that starts at 5 PM today.

Rohit Sharma's Golden Duck In SA T20 Has Got Social Media Quacking At Him

Until last year, the whole (read virtual) world was going crazy over right-hand-batsman Rohit Sharma and singing praises for him, but now the same set of people are mocking and trolling him. Why? Isn't it unfair for Rohit? What exactly did he do to get such a response? Well, we thought so too, before we came across the reason why he was being brutally trolled and the hilarious comments that people were posting for him. © Reuters Last evening, the Indian cricket team faced a terrible defeat at Centurion at the hands of South Africa, in the second T20I of the three-match series. Which means Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma couldn't get a chance to dedicate the victory to their respective wives. However, Rohit Sharma still managed to grab the eyeballs of not only the ones present in the stadium, but also those who were watching him on their TV sets. Asked to bat first, India needed a solid start up front to boost their chances of posting a competitive total. And, the onus was once again on the marauding openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. © Reuters But, contrary to popular perception, India got off to a bad start after Junior Dala sent Rohit back into the hut without troubling the scorecard in only the second over of the match. Rohit Sharma came and went back at a speed that's faster than light. Or faster than a blink of an eye. If this wasn't embarrassing enough, this golden duck knock has now registered a new record under Rohit's name. Sharma now holds the record for most number of ducks by an Indian in T20I. Barcelona?s Lionel Messi celebrates scoring their first goal against Chelsea with Andres Iniesta during the Champions League Round of 16 First Leg in Stamford Bridge, London, Britain, February 20, 2018. Action Images via Reuters/Andrew Boyers LONDON: Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi finally opened his account against Chelsea with a 75th-minute equaliser to earn his side a 1-1 draw in a fascinating Champions League last 16, first leg duel at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. Willian?s superb 62nd-minute effort looked like giving Chelsea a precious advantage for the second leg in Spain but they undid all their good work by handing Messi an equaliser. The Argentine maestro, teed up by Andres Iniesta after some sloppy play by the hosts, struck a low shot past keeper Thibaut Courtois for his first goal in nine attempts against Chelsea. As expected, Barca dominated possession but Antonio Conte?s Chelsea side were unfortunate not to end with a victory after Willian was twice denied by the woodwork before halftime. The second leg is on March 14 at the Nou Camp. One of Europe?s fiercest rivalries had been dormant for six years ? since Chelsea?s shock semi-final victory in 2012. But the renewal of hostilities did not disappoint in a gripping game of cat and mouse in west London. For all Barcelona?s often suffocating possession it was Chelsea who walked in at halftime feeling hard done by. The hosts spent most of the opening period diligently shutting doors at the back as Messi and Iniesta probed for openings in Chelsea?s blue wall. But when the home side did get the ball they were clinical. Bad luck In the 34th minute Paulinho gave the ball away cheaply and as Chelsea worked the ball to Willian, he shuffled to his right and sent a curling right-footer thudding against the post. Willian could not believe his bad luck again shortly before halftime when Barca again invited pressure and this time his left-foot effort smacked the outside of the other post. On both occasions, Barca keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was a mere spectator. Barcelona had their moments, with Messi, as usual, their chief architect, delivering one cross on a plate for Paulinho who headed wide in front of goal. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte resembled a manic orchestra conductor throughout the first half, going through his full repertoire of gesticulations, while his opposite number Ernesto Valverde was a study in measured calm. Conte was celebrating wildly in the 62nd minute as Willian?s persistence finally paid off. Again Hazard teased the Barca defence and played a pass infield to workaholic Willian who engineered a yard of space before firing a low right-foot shot inside the left-hand post. However, all Chelsea?s great work was undone by a moment of sloppiness that was duly punished. Andreas Christensen?s aimless ball across his own area was seized upon by Iniesta and when it was cut back to him Messi did not break stride as he curled his low effort past Courtois. The goal knocked the stuffing out of the hosts and, although they avoided any more damage, they will need a repeat of their 2012 exploits to keep alive their European hopes.

Just when their loyal supporters were beginning to lose faith, just as the cornered tigers had started to look like tamed kittens and long after the cliché about them being mercurial had become a desperate expression of hope, the Pakistan cricket team put up a spirited performance to record their first points in the ICC Champions Trophy. A team that was literally beaten in all three departments of the game during their forgetful outing against India and were then staring at an early ouster from the coveted tournament, fought their way back to upset World No. 1 ODI team South Africa by 19 runs (D/L) in a rain-curtailed tie. © Reuters Issuing a stern warning to those who had ruled out their comeback, the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side looked like a much-improved unit than the one that showed up against India. Their bowling component clearly had their task cut out against the South African batting line-up comprised of proven stars like Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers. However, contrary to popular perception, the Pakistani bowling attack pulled up their A-game to silence the Proteas stars and eventually restricting them to a paltry 219 runs. While the explosive De Kock was sent back to the hut for 33 runs, his opening partner Amla, was dismissed for 16. © Reuters Faf du Plessis, too, couldn't do much damage as promising youngster Hasan Ali got the better of the right-hander before he could go past the 26-run mark. While those wickets clearly made a difference, it was the wicket of Proteas captain AB de Villiers that was probably the turning point. The most innovative and feared bowler in limited-overs cricket had faced four balls without scoring a run before Imad Wasim dismissed him in the 15th over. The right-hander was walking back into the pavillion for a golden duck for the very first time in his ODI career. © Reuters While Wasim was clearly the reason behind De Villiers golden duck, there was another Pakistani who also had a role to play in the dismissal of the South African captain.
