  1. The first half of the Indian Premier League 2022 is already in full swing and every single franchise has now played one match. This means that all 10 teams in this year’s edition of the IPL now have a place for themselves in the points table based on their win-to-loss ratio and the Net Run Rate, in order to break the tie between two or more teams with an equal number of wins. So far in the tournament, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans have all won their first and only match whereas some of the more historically successful franchises like Mumbai Indians, SunRisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow SuperGiants and the reigning IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have found themselves on the lower end of the points table. IPL 2022 Points Table. pic.twitter.com/0hWo95mk0X — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) March 29, 2022 Among the losers, three teams in specific have gathered a lot of attention from the public, especially because of the bad Net Run Rates that they have had on the only match they have played so far. RCB (-0.697), MI (-914) and SunRisers Hyderabad (-3.05) are three of the worst teams at the moment, even among the losing sides. Yes, it is excruciatingly early in the season and the win or the loss in the first match of the tournament does not have a lot of weightage in terms of where will the season end for any of the teams. However, that has never stopped the online trolls from making the most of the situation and letting the teams know where they are standing at the moment. RCB at 8 — timeSquare (@time__square) March 29, 2022Not your fault as 9 comes after 8 — Prajwal𓃵 (@not_praj) March 29, 2022 pic.twitter.com/mqDUgS8NDG — Samir Shaikh (@Samir68681627) March 29, 2022Runrate k hisaab se to srh already bahar ho gyi — Harsh (@Hari01426624) March 29, 2022In points table @SunRisers Will stay in the last position permanently . Because of the SRH management and mostly whole credit goes to Kaviya — vamshi megafan (@krishnav628) March 29, 2022RCB going to Last Place tomorrow — Gill Supremacy (@GillFan77) March 29, 2022Some of the very specific concerns from the first week of the IPL: The first key concern has to do with the fact that Faf du Plessis’ RCB were unable to protect a 200-run total and were defeated by Mayank Agarwal’s PBKS with one entire left to spare. Despite a strong batting order, the fact that world-class bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga went for 59 and 40 runs, respectively suggests the kind of work they have to do to make their chances look better. Secondly, the SunRisers Hyderabad aren’t looking much different from the way they were during the previous season. Not only did they start their season with a loss, but their Net Run Rate is also so abysmal that recovering from it will be a challenge in itself. It will be interesting to see the kind of changes each of these teams will make to their roster to better adapt to the situation and how that will eventually reflect on the IPL Points Table. 6. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is 39 years old now and even though he continues to show shades of his prime self while wicket-keeping, the majority of the cricketing fraternity is convinced that ‘Captain Cool’ should hang his boots from all forms of cricket. The Chennai Super Kings skipper has been under fire ever since the beginning of the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League for not playing like the way he used to and for the franchise’s worst regular season ever. IPL 2020 Points Table#RRvsSRH #SRHvsRR #RRvSRH #SRHvRR #RR #SRH #sunrisers #SunrisersHyderabad #RajasthanRoyals #RoyalsFamily #HallaBol #KeepRising #OrangeArmy #IPL2020 #IPL #IPLT20 #CricketLive #TentaranSports pic.twitter.com/ROh9JPM7l9 — Tentaran Sports (@TentaranSports) October 22, 2020 Having said that, Dhoni was and will hopefully be remembered for the brilliance he showed as a captain, a wicket-keeper and a Grade-A batting finisher who led Team India to countless victories while remaining calm under extremely tense situations. His development from a power hitter with an unorthodox batting style and raw strength to all those things and the sense of shot selection transformed into the iconic player that he is known as today. ”Dhoni was definitely the most exciting cricketer in India at that time. He used to hit the ball from the most unusual positions. He is the most powerful batsman and best finisher I have ever seen,” - Greg Chappell pic.twitter.com/Pz4v97VSqF — DHONIsm™ ️ (@DHONIism) May 13, 2020 But how did Dhoni become the critically acclaimed finisher for the Men in Blue in the 14 years of his career with the national team? Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar recently revealed on Star Sports. Bangar said that the way Dhoni was able to finish games for the country by not giving into his natural instincts of going for a big shot all the time but to focus more on sneaking cheeky singles and doubles between deliveries and create pressure on the opposition. In order to constantly remind himself to resist the urge of swinging for the boundary, Dhoni used to write “1, 2 - Tick Tick and 4, 6 - Cross Cross" so that he’d avoid taking unnecessary risks. Bangar further added that every time Dhoni would kit up to bat, he’d look at the pad and remind himself of the process he’d decided for himself and that he had to follow it come what may. It is unfortunate to see Dhoni struggle while trying to finish matches this season. The Chennai Super Kings franchise, which was once the most successful team in the league with three titles, is now at the bottom of the points table and their chances of going further have come to a staggering halt. All good things come to an end. CSK’s successful run did too. Which leaves a sad yet important question in the fans minds - Is MS Dhoni risking his reputation by not calling it quits sooner? 7. For a batsman who was busy hammering opposition bowlers all around the park and, in turn, shattering records at will last year, Virat Kohli, to the sheer frustration of Indian fans, is currently not at his prolific best with the willow. The right-hander had scored 5,775 more international runs than anyone else in the last decade. Last year alone, he had amassed 2,370 runs across formats - the fourth consecutive time he had aggregated 2000-plus runs in a single calendar year. But, this year has been a different story altogether. The so-called 'Indian run-machine' has looked a pale shadow of the world-class batsman he is generally celebrated as. And, his batting woes in the recently-concluded tour of New Zealand further dented his reputation as a modern-day great. © Twitter/@BCCI With scores of 45, 11, 38 and 11, Kohli ended the T20I series against the Kiwis without a fifty to his name. The much-awaited fifty did come in the 1st ODI where he scored 51 at Hamilton, but his cheap dismissals - 15 and 9 - in the next two matches continued to highlight his struggles with the willow. The Indian Captain would have definitely wanted to make amends with a better performance in the two-match Test series, but it wasn't meant to be. The 10-wicket loss at Wellington saw him registering scores of just 2 and 19 across two innings. And, he could only manage 3 and 14 over the course of two innings as India suffered a seven-wicket loss at Christchurch and a subsequent 2-0 Test series defeat. Amid immense criticism, Kohli ended the New Zealand tour with just 218 runs (across 4 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests) to his name. © Reuters After enduring one of the worst tours of his otherwise decorated career, Kohli will be eager to silence the naysayers and return to form with a better performance against the visiting South African brigade for the three-match ODI series. But, apart from winning back the fans with a swashbuckling performance, Kohli will have an opportunity to enter the record books in the 1st ODI against South Africa. Taking the field at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium in Dharamsala on 12th March, the Indian captain will have a great opportunity to enter his name in the history books as only the sixth cricketer to reach 12,000 runs in ODI history. The Delhi lad is currently 133 runs away from achieving the milestone and entering the elite ODI list which also includes Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar. The Indian skipper, once he reaches 12,000 ODI runs, will become only the second Indian cricketer to achieve the feat. He will also be the fastest to achieve the milestone as other five batsmen including Tendulkar in the elite list took more than 300 innings to get there. When compared with them, Kohli has played just 239 innings so far, with a staggering 11,867 runs to his name. © Reuters While both Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri have publicly played down the importance of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Proteas owing to Team India's focus on World T20 in Australia this October, there is no doubt that Kohli will be eyeing it as an opportunity to hit back at his critics. Also, Kohli's men can ill-afford to lose another series, especially against an inexperienced South African brigade, buoyed with their crushing 3-0 win over Australia recently. The Indian captain will also be in a better headspace this time around with the return of their pivotal all-rounder Hardik Pandya to the side. Pandya proved his fitness on the back of a spectacular performance in the recently-concluded DY Patil T20 tournament. Apart from him, the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, too, will be seen returning in national colours to bolster the Indian side against dangerous-looking Proteas. View the full article
  8. Ask any well-dressed man and bona fide fashion icon worth their salt, what is that one piece of menswear that all men should have in their closet, and the answer will be a suit of some sort. Now, whether you go for a bandhgala suit or a European tuxedo with a shawl collar, all of them will suggest that you go for a well-tailored, bespoke suit. © Instagram/sshomme Sandeep & Sarah Gonsalves, the designer duo behind one of India's most prominent bespoke menswear designers, Sarah & Sandeep, are perhaps perfectly suited (no pun intended) to explain what makes bespoke suits so appealing. © Sarah & Sandeep Having dressed the finest actors of our generation, along with several other stalwarts from various other fields in some of the most sublime suits we have seen in the last decade or so, Sandeep Gonsalves has truly made a mark for the label. Just take a look at their clientele and you'll get an idea why, for India's elite, contemporary and luxury bespoke suiting has become synonymous with Sarah & Sandeep. © Instagram/sandeepmxg From stalwart actors like Shahid Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana, to business tycoons like Mazahir Mandasaurwala & Akash Ambani, Sarah & Sandeep have truly dressed the who's who of India. View this post on Instagram Akash Ambani suited up in the Burgundy Three Piece Tuxedo paired with vintage bow tie precisely crafted and designed by Sarah and Sandeep Gonsalves for their wedding festivities at Winter Wonderland in St. Moritz. #SSHOMME #SarahSandeep #AkashAmbani #MukeshAmbani #NitaAmbani #ambaniwedding #shlokamehta #AkuStoleTheShlo #ambani #ishaambani #ceremonial #bespoke #tuxedo #akustoletheshlo A post shared by SARAH & SANDEEP (@sshomme) on Jul 18, 2019 at 6:42am PDT We sat down for a brief chat with Sandeep Gonsalves, talking about the Indian fashion scene, what does the richest family in India look for exactly when getting their suits made, and how bespoke clothes, maketh the man. Edited Excerpts: © Sarah & Sandeep As a member of the Indian Fashion industry, how would you say has the industry grown over the years? It is my belief that the Indian fashion industry is currently at its peak, creatively speaking. The more informed designers are, the more they can evolve their imagination and that is exactly what Indian designers are working towards. There is also a visible amalgamation of traditionalist culture and contemporary new-age design that incorporates some design techniques that have never been seen before and I appreciate this direction that Indian fashion is moving toward. © Instagram/sshomme You created bespoke suits for some of the ceremonies for Akash Ambani's wedding. Tell us something about that, what were their requirements, how was the fitting process? The experience was really something special and we are really impressed with the way the styles turned out. For the winter wonderland themed occasion in St. Moritz, Switzerland, we created a bespoke sea-green checked suit with a custom cashmere turtleneck. We also crafted a kurta with a specially designed embroidery pattern with Akash and Shloka's initials. That is probably the first time we had to innovate with personalized embroidery but we wanted it to be wearable art and it came together beautifully. View this post on Instagram Akash Ambani reflects sheer grandeur in a bespoke Grey Houndstooth Tuxedo designed by co-founders Sarah and Sandeep Gonsalves for Isha Ambani's engagement at Lake Como. #SSHOMME #SarahAndSandeep #AkashAmbani #IshaAmbani #mukeshambani #ishaambaniengagement #LakeComo #bespoke #tuxedo #ceremonial #NitaAmbani #shlokamehta A post shared by SARAH & SANDEEP (@sshomme) on Jul 18, 2019 at 6:34am PDT As artists who are also invested in the commercial side of things, did the fact that you were catering to the Ambanis, ever put pressure on you? I think that it can get overwhelming only if the client's vision is not matching with the vision of the designer but Akash is always on the same page so it is always a great experience when designing for him. View this post on Instagram Designers Sarah and Sandeep Gonsalves manifest the art of encapsulating a personalised embroidery pattern by using the initials of the groom Akash Ambani and the bride Shloka Mehta. It's an ode to their journey of crafting spectacular garments with the constant need of innovation and creativity. #SSHOMME #SarahandSandeep #AkashAmbani #ShlokaMehta #akustoletheshlo #ambaniwedding #MensFashion A post shared by SARAH & SANDEEP (@sshomme) on Mar 22, 2019 at 6:15am PDT We've often seen Ayushmann Khurrana in your creations. What is it that catches his eye? Is there anything specific that he asks for? It has been a pleasure having Ayushmann Khurrana wear our creations over the years. It is always a great experience working with his stylist extraordinaire, Isha Bhansali. The synergy is always perfect and her vision for our looks on Ayushmann is always on point. Most of the creations that are selected for him are unique well-tailored western styles that have unique colour variations and patterns. © Instagram/sshomme What direction do you see the Indian fashion industry taking? I expect the Indian fashion industry to move toward a more future-forward approach in the coming years. Designers are moving towards a more contemporary approach towards fashion design and they are looking to experiment with minimalistic, clean designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also extremely functional. What is that one current trend that we see today on the ramp, that has the potential of making it big among common, regular people in the future? Experimental cuts on hems are by far the best example of a mass trend that has originated from the ramp. © Instagram/sshomme What creative and commercial directions do you envision? Creatively, I like to keep working on improving my designs of both western and Indian styles. I would like to work towards imagining the most contemporary and clean ensembles that are not only functional but truly exhilarating to look at. I think Sarah & I have evolved drastically in the past few years and we will always attempt to create the most unique menswear styles possible. From a commercial perspective, we plan to expand our retail presence and turn the store into a one-stop destination for formal menswear solutions. Our goal has always been to provide the best possible quality of garments, shoes and accessories and we are devising new ways to make the in-store experience for our clients simply incredible. Just to give you an example, we have just recently invested in fragrancing the entire flagship store. © Instagram/sshomme Your creations tend to be very fluid and an amalgamation of classic silhouettes with contemporary and modern aesthetics. Where do you draw your inspiration from? I think we draw most of our inspiration from what we perceive as contemporary art and we add our touch of what may be a future-forward version of the same. Sometimes it may lead to us experimenting with the silhouettes whilst using pure Australian merino wool, and sometimes we may come up with a sherwani that displays the strategic use of beadwork. What is that one trend in men's fashion that you don't like, or don't agree with? I am not particularly a fan of over-accessorizing an ensemble just for the sake of it. I feel that menswear styles should be simple, clean and minimal. One should pick maybe one or two accessories that compliment the look fashionably instead of adding as many accessories as possible. © Instagram/sshomme How do you think the industry as a whole is dealing with this issue of sustainable and “eco-friendly” fashion? I feel that every successful fashion designer in India has considered going toward a sustainable direction by now. And that in itself is a great example of the power an informed consumer can have in shaping the future of designer retail. We at Sarah & Sandeep have also been working towards reducing our carbon footprint. For instance, our collaboration with Carlo Barbera comprised of business suits that were made using biodegradable Bemberg lining and instead of fusing, we turned towards only full or half-canvassed suits to reduce the use of polyester to a bare minimum. © Instagram/sshomme What are your views on the debate around Maximalism vis-a-vis Minimalism? I think Sarah & I have been promoting the concept of minimalism in fashion design since our brand's inception back in 2012. We do not argue against maximalism but we believe that minimal design is future-forward and as clients evolve, they care more about the quality of the fabric and less about the quantity of hand-work on it. © Filmfare In spite of its clear advantages and finesse, people tend to go for readymade suits over bespoke made and tailored suits. How do we change this? How can we make tailored suits more accessible for the masses? Traditional tailoring is not the way forward if you are looking to make tailored suits more accessible to the masses. In order to do so, we will have to rely on technology and some AI applications that have recently come out that considerably cut down the timeline for manufacturing a tailored suit. If the demand for instantly created tailored suits rises to a certain point, I can see the value in that business model. © Instagram/sshomme Tell us something about your creative process. My creative process is all about gathering information and using my imagination to depict what I can relate to. Sarah & I also tend to keep in mind trends and customer feedback, to ensure that the functionality of every garment is well thought of. Where do you think men's fashion in India is heading? Men's fashion in India is evolving spectacularly and with great promise. The category has seen a lot of growth in the past few years and we can see a bright future ahead. I see the growth shifting from workplace clothing to ceremonial clothing which would be great for Sarah & Sandeep because we are a designer label at the end of the day and most of our offerings are for special occasions. Our hope is that luxury menswear in India is driven by innovation and we expect to be at the forefront of that effort. © Instagram/sshomme Three words you'd use to describe your signature style. Clean, Contemporary, Geometric What is your favourite historical era in terms of menswear, and why? The 1960s was a great era of menswear to look back at because that is when experimental silhouettes came into play. Do you think traditional Indian menswear is evolving? Yes, of course. It will continue to evolve as men's tastes become more individualistic and personalized. © Instagram/sshomme One celebrity who can teach everyone else a lesson or two on how to pull off the Indian aesthetic elegantly, when it comes to menswear. Shahid Kapoor pulls off the Indian aesthetic beautifully. One thing men should never do while dressing up in traditional Indian wear. Overembellishment with accessories is not something I recommend to Sarah & Sandeep grooms. © Instagram/sshomme One traditional Indian menswear item you believe every Indian man should have in his wardrobe, and why. I think a classic bandhgala in a unique colour is an absolute necessity. It's the most versatile Indian style I can think of that can also be used for occasions that call for western wear. Men's fashion in India slipped through the cracks of the mainstream fashion scene and has stayed under the radar for far too long. Take a look at any fashion event - fashion weeks, fashion shows et all, and you'll see how in most of them, menswear seems to be an afterthought. Furthermore, shows focusing exclusively on menswear are a rarity. As a series, Draping Indian Men is an earnest attempt to celebrate the changing phase of men's fashion in India, and those pioneering geniuses who have come to define our sartorial sensibilities View the full article
  9. The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) began with a promise of a scintillating contest between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which pitted iconic stars MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli against each other. But, thanks to a raging turner at the MA Chidambaram stadium, the match turned out to be a hunting ground for spinners as CSK romped to a seven-wicket win. It was definitely not the kind of contest fans were hoping for, but it did the job for Chennai in attaining two crucial points. But, the two matches on 24th March had no shortage in terms of blistering knocks and towering hits. While Andre Russel's blazing 19-ball 49 powered Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the third match of the season saw Rishabh Pant going hammer and tongs in his blitzkrieg of 27-ball 78 to pave way for Delhi Capitals' 37-run triumph over Mumbai Indians (MI). © Twitter/@IPL During the third match, the likes of Pant, Colin Ingram (47) and Shikhar Dhawan (43) hogged the limelight for their respective knocks, one Delhi Capitals player quietly etched his name in the history books for a unique feat. The 25-year-old took four catches against Mumbai and became the fourth fielder to do so in the history of the IPL. In the process, he joined the elite list of cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, David Warner and Jacques Kallis who also took four catches in the IPL seasons earlier. His catches resulted in the dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya - all capable of taking the game away from Delhi. Following their emphatic triumph, Delhi - tournament's perennial underachievers - romped to the No. 1 spot in the points table with two points and a stunning Net Run-Rate (NRR) of +1.850. Having defeated three-time champions Mumbai, Delhi will be eager to carry on their winning momentum when they take on mighty Chennai in their second match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on 26th March.
  10. One can only look for so many arguments to debate how the Portuguese megastar Cristiano Ronaldo is not the greatest footballer of this generation and most certainly one of the top elites in the history of the game. But when he does something as massive and impressive as this, the haters must dig deep into their 'bag of excuses' to bring down the man's brilliance and still won't be able to come out with a solid case. The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 saw what was probably the best individual performance this season when Ronaldo scored a brilliant and a very crucial hat-trick in order to surpass Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid and take his Juventus to the UCL quarter finals. 11. After a tough tour of England, the Indian cricket team has fared well in the 2018 Asia Cup, especially in the absence of captain Virat Kohli. The 'Men in Blue' have already defeated arch-rivals Pakistan on two occasions as they remain unbeaten in the tournament. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Indian side will be eager to assert their dominance in Asia by winning the summit clash on 28th September. But, before the all-important final, the Indian team will lock horns with Afghanistan in the Super Four clash on 25th September. With India already in the final and Afghanistan out of the contention of moving forward in the tournament, today's clash surely seems inconsequential. While the upcoming contest surely serves as a great platform to rest some of their star players ahead of the final, it also presents a perfect opportunity to MS Dhoni to notch up yet another individual feat in his illustrious career. © Reuters Going into the match against the Afghans, Dhoni will have a chance to etch his name in the history books. The former Indian captain is just 95 runs shy of breaching the 10,000-run mark in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). In the 325 ODIs he has played for India, Dhoni has scored 10,079 runs, which also includes the 174 runs he scored for Asia XI in 2007. Since, the Afro-Asia Cup matches did not have official status as ODIs, Dhoni, officially, is still 95 runs short of reaching 10,000 mark. Playing against Afghanistan, if Dhoni manages to reach the milestone, he would become only the fourth Indian batsman in history to achieve the feat. He will also join the elite list of Indian batsmen including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. © Reuters Thanks to the prolific form of the Indian top-order, Dhoni has barely had an opportunity to come out in the middle and score some runs. But, despite that, MSD continues to notch up individual feats in the tournament. During India's nine-wicket rout of Pakistan, Dhoni pipped Dravid as the second most capped player for India. With 505 games across all formats to his name, he is now only behind Tendulkar who leads that list with a record 664 caps for India. On the other hand, Dhoni has also proved clinical for India owing to his on-field exploits in the tournament. His field placements and a sharp eye to call for Decision Review System (DRS) have helped Rohit Sharma and co to get vital breakthroughs in the Asia Cup. While he might have slumped a bit in the batting department, Dhoni continues to be a crucial member of the Indian team.
  12. So, France won their second ever World Cup after defeating Croatia in Moscow, in what has been widely considered as one of the best Final games in history. While the French might have come through thick and thin during this tournament and courtesy to their brilliant crop of players, one man who has been majorly responsible for their rise to World dominance has been their manager, Didier Deschamps. Deschamps has been their manager since Laurent Blanc left his position as French manager after the 2014 World Cup, but since that time, Deschamps has taken this team to consecutive Final appearances in major tournaments, in the Euros in 2016 and now at the World Cup in Russia, where they finally won. Breaking The Jinx © Reuters Deschamps has been in football management for more than a 15 years now, since retiring as a player. Deschamps has been the 'Man Of Many Finals' during his career, both as a player and as a manager. During his time as a player, he and his teams had reached the Champions League final six times, winning it twice. Also, captaining France to their maiden World Cup title back in 1998, and then winning the European Championships in 2000. His first season as a manager also saw him take his Team Monaco to the Champions League Final, which they lost back in 2003/04. After a substantial gap of more than 13-years, Deschamps, now manager of France, took his place in another final at the European Championships only to lose out to Portugal. The World Cup Final win means that Deschamps has finally broken his 'finals' jinx, which has been running the rule over him for more than 20 years now, and he certainly would like to continue winning more titles for his beloved nation. Joins The Elite Club © Reuters As France lifted their second World Cup title, Deschamps entered an elite club of footballers. Deschamps now joins an exclusive club, which so far has only featured two legends of the game. He now joins, Mario Zagallo, who won two World Cups as a player with Brazil, one as their manager and another as their assistant manager; and Franz Beckenbauer, who wrote German football history by becoming only the second person to win the titles both as player and manager. Didier Deschamps thus becomes the only third person to do so. Had he won the European Championships back in 2016, he would have become the only manager to have a unique double of the Euros and World Cup, both as a player and manager.

The Home Ministry is currently planning to deploy a contingent of the NSG commandos so that they can help the security forces in the Valley to deal with encounters and hostage-like situations. "We are planning to deploy the NSG in Kashmir. They are trained to deal with terrorists and hostage-like situations. We are mulling over it," an official told PTI. © Pinterest NSG's Black Cat teams usually comprise of five commandos who are led by a non-commissioned officer with bomb experts and crack marksman. They often used highly effective and sophisticated equipment which includes Heckler and Koch MP5 sub-machine guns, sniper rifles, through-the-wall radar and C-4 explosives to eliminate the enemy with minimal structural damage. This decision, if taken, will further strengthen the military and police and act as a force multiplier. Home Minister Rajnath Singh had earlier said that the NSG should be able to tackle the lone wolf attacks in the future, as witnessed in some western countries. © Pinterest "We have seen across the globe that a big vehicle is being used by such elements to mow down people as also lone wolf attacks being carried out by them to wreak death and destruction," he said. "The terrorists are adopting cruel and barbaric techniques like I mentioned. This is a serious challenge and Special Forces like the NSG should prepare themselves to tackle these emerging threats," Singh added. He also reiterated that the government was thinking how the role of NSG should be 'enlarged' in the context of security challenged that the country faces right now. And now this move to insert the Black Cat commandos in high-action areas in J&K will definitely be a shot in the arm for the security faces in the Valley.

  17. Attendees take part at a reception event after the Crystal Award ceremony during the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland January 22, 2018. REUTERS/Denis Balibouse DAVOS: The global economy and geopolitical tensions are taking a back seat to a more immediate problem at this year?s Davos summit of political and business leaders: heavy snow is burying the venue. High in the Swiss Alps on Monday, on the eve of the opening sessions, many of the roughly 3,000 delegates struggled to reach the ski resort. Part of the main train line into Davos had been buried in snow over the weekend, forcing people onto buses, and helicopters were disrupted by poor visibility. Some pre-summit meetings were cancelled or delayed as the first waves of delegates waded through snow-blanketed streets with luggage, looking for their hotels, or had to wait for road crews to dig their limousines out of drifts. Businessmen slipped over on icy patches as snow ploughs roamed the streets, with the snow returning as fast as the machines could clear it. World Economic Forum communications chief Adrian Monck said it appeared to be the heaviest snowfall for the four-decades-old summit since 1999-2000, though he described it as more of an inconvenience than a real threat to attendance. ?We know the snow causes inconvenience and it puts a lot of pressure on the city of Davos as a host but so far we have not seen any drop-off in registrations,? Monck said. With the weather forecast to clear on Tuesday, organizers are hoping transport will start to operate more smoothly and will be running without a hitch by the time US President Donald Trump arrives on Friday to give the closing address. However, so much snow has built up on the slopes surrounding Davos that avalanches remain a danger. A bulletin from the SLF Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research in Davos showed a broad band of the mountainous country under Level 5 avalanche danger, the highest on a 1-5 scale. ?Fresh snow and snow drift accumulations are prone to triggering (avalanches). Until late in the night a large number of natural avalanches are to be expected,? it said. Local officials said on Monday they had evacuated two dozen residents from vulnerable areas while crews used explosives to reduce dangerous build-ups on some slopes above the town. ?When Trump comes on Friday it is far from obvious whether he will be able to use a fleet of large helicopters to land in Davos,? said a source close to the organizing committee. ?Large helicopters increase the risk of avalanches.?
  18. My journey in health and fitness began as a skinny fat 17 year old weighing 58kg, who first stepped into the gym with his friends in the hope of filling out his t-shirt and building more confidence. This challenge sparked something inside that led me to abandon my initial pursuit of a career in law, and focus entirely on becoming the best possible personal trainer. © Akash Over the years, I became obsessed with learning how to build muscle (gaining 30 kilos in the process!), gain strength and lose body fat. I attended countless seminars, hired coaches and mentors, read 100s of books and spent hours and hours in the gym with clients and myself in search of what works and what doesn't. I also studied Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a 1st class honors degree. © Akash In The Pursuit Of 'Extreme' This learning process was solidified with five years working in the City of London as a senior personal trainer for a private studio. During this time, I began to deliver body composition seminars across the UK and the world. I've always been of the belief that if you want to take your clients to the extreme, you need to know what the extreme is yourself. This is exactly why I love competing in bodybuilding. The sport demands you to push your body to the extremes of body composition. Whether it is fat loss or muscle growth, you are always pushing the limits. Over the years I've competed three times and qualified for the British finals on two of those occasions. © Akash I used to be like many of you reading this, paralyzed by the information overload that's constant in the fitness industry. For years I made zero progress and was constantly spinning my wheels. If you ask any of my closest friends, they'll tell you all the fads I've tried and all the hours of over-thinking I've subjected myself to over the years. © Akash This is one of the reasons why at the start of last year I created my online personal training company, RNT Fitness http://www.rntfitness.co.uk/ . Our aim with RNT is to provide a one-stop place where you can learn how to maximize your results in the minimum amount of time, whilst educating you to enable long-term progression. In my most recent transformation pictured in this article, the biggest struggle I faced was balancing building a new business from scratch along with the demands that getting really lean entails. To combat this, I made sure I put five things in place at all times: 1) I always planned ahead of time and was prepared no matter what. Each morning, I'd prep all my food for the day, so there was never an excuse in getting 'caught out' in a bad situation. My training was always written up ahead of time so I knew what I needed to do each time I stepped in the gym. 2) I had accountability During my transformation, I had a few levels of accountability. Firstly, I hired a coach to help keep an objective eye on my progress. Even though I'm more than capable to coach myself, I'd rather someone else tell me what to do, and call me out on any personal bias that would otherwise creep in. Second, the bodybuilding stage - nothing is more embarrassing than being stood on stage out of shape! And lastly, everyone I told. I made it a point to tell everyone my goal, so I was held accountable to people I was with. 3) I had a great team No matter what you're trying to accomplish, having a solid team around you is critical. Throughout both building RNT from the ground up, and competing in bodybuilding, all my family, friends and peers were all in alignment with my goals, and provided the positive support necessary to help me succeed. 4) I knew my why My why when competing last year was clear. I wanted to beat my previous condition, qualify for the British finals, get striated glutes, and minimize the impact on my social life. I was also doing this during the build-up of RNT, so I wanted to lead from the front, and show our clients that we practice what we preach! 5) I had a deadline For me this was the stage. Having this to work towards provided tunnel vision and focus at all times, so there was never a chance of being distracted or any form of procrastination. What I've found after all these years helping clients get into the shape of their lives is that their transformations are all rooted in these five key principles. If you're looking to transform your body this year, make sure you plan and prepare, create accountability, have the right support around you, know your why, and have a big deadline!

  21. The Special Forces of the Indian Military rank amongst some of the most elite and most feared soldiers in the world. The way they are groomed mentally and physically, pushes the boundaries of human behavior and the threshold of pain tolerance. They can survive the harshest wilderness. They can eat almost anything that moves. They aren’t really the same kind of humans that we are. They are bred to kill. One such band of brothers who protect us while we sleep is the Special Forces Para Commandos, one of the world’s most elite covert operations units. © YouTube Groomed by the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army, these are the same commandos who recently tore through the terrorists camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, in a surgical strike. To the world and more formally, they are known as the Para Commandos. Those who fear them, call them the ‘Glass Eaters’. All that hellish and brutal training gives the Parachute Commandos an edge over regular forces not only physically but also, mentally. And this glass eating tradition is one such ritual that fosters their sense of absolute fearlessness and superiority. © YouTube A blog post, named Tales From The Army, brings forth this rarely talked about and unknown tradition. The blog is written by a retired Ex- Special Forces Para Commando himself. The officer recalls the time when he was asked to eat glass and how he did it. In short, here’s how the tradition goes- upon successfully completing the hellish training, soldiers are inducted as a Maroon Beret but before they are handed the badge, they have to down a Patiala peg of rum, bite off and chew the rim of the glass. Yes, bite it, chew it and swallow it. While it was hard for me to believe like it would be for most who read this, a program on Discovery channel called Earning The Badge settled my doubts forever. The Paras DO eat glass upon induction in the unit. While it seems humanly impossible to eat glass but once chewed enough, it’s pulverized into nothing but sand. Glass is sand. But while only the thought of chewing glass makes our stomach bleed, these men of steel continue to follow this tough-as-nails tradition.
