  1. The casual fans of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may not be aware of the name, 'Nitish Rana' who enjoyed a supreme 68-run innings in Kolkata Knight Riders' season opening game against Bhuvneshwar Kumar's SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday. However, the left-handed batsman has made quite a name for himself in the first-class cricket circuit and has come to be known as more of a game-winning player for his side much like the former skipper of the Indian cricket team in Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Rana, who hit eight boundaries and three maximums in a heroic run-chase by his KKR last evening, is a Delhi born athlete who made his first-class cricket debut during the 2015-16 season of the Ranji Trophy and ended up being the lead-scorer of the team (557). He also scored a total of 218 runs during the 2015-16 season of Vijay Hazare Trophy and was the second highest run-getter for Delhi. The 2015–16 season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has to be the highlight of the cricketer's career (until yesterday) during which he helped a struggling Delhi survive through tough games against Andhra, Baroda and Jharkhand whilst scoring a total of 299 runs in 8 innings at a staggering strike rate of 175.88. With an aggressive batting style and the ability to fill in the bowling lineup as a part-time off-spinner, Rana eventually made it to the roster of Team India A for the 2018-19 Deodar Trophy and the squad for last year's ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. On Sunday, Rana contributed immensely towards Kolkata's successful 183-run chase while forming a decent partnership with Robin Uthappa (35) only for Andre Russell and Shubman Gill to seal the deal and bring a great start to his side. For his efforts, his fans took to Twitter to praise the 25-year-old: Nitish Rana showing positive character, prevailing his fantastic form , how prudently he hit reverse sweep to Rashid Khan.#KKRvSRH #KKRHaiTaiyaar — amey guthe (@amey_guthe) March 24, 2019 Russell you beauty ð¥ð¥ð¥ð¥ Nitish Rana ð¥ð¥ð¥ Subhman Gill ð¥ð¥ð¥ — A Quantum Dot (@aQuantumDot) March 24, 2019 Nitish Rana's cut shot is a thing of beauty.#KKRvSRH — Naresh Singaravelu (@NareshVelu) March 24, 2019 Nitish Rana On ð¥ Great batting.#IPL2019 #KKRvSRH — Prince ð®ð³á´°áµË¡Ê°á¶¦ á¶áµáµá¶¦áµáµË¡Ë¢ (@iPrince55) March 24, 2019 Nitish Rana >>> Rinku Singh End of debate.#KKRvSRH — Akshay Sharma (@akshaypasu) March 24, 2019
  2. The twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League is about to start in less than a month and the hype is escalating on a Godly level. To add fuel to the fire, the new promo has been launched and it surely does justice to all the madness that surrounds an entity that is potentially the most loved league in the country. 8 teams, 1 motto - 1 trophy ð The countdown to the 2019 #VIVOIPL begins ð§®âï¸ðð ARE YOU READY? pic.twitter.com/rk9h1gd8ng — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) March 5, 2019 In the new promo, a creative parallel has been drawn between the professional cricketers who represent the country on the international level and the young enthusiasts who keep the craze going on the streets. The minute-and-a-half footage deals with the two sides trying to fight against each other over the desire to play the game of cricket they both love equally. Both try to crush the other side behind the wall and acquire as much of the playing space as the can. There's a moment when the 'gully boys' are gaining advance over the Men in Blue, who are now dressed in the colourful jerseys of the cities they will be representing in the upcoming season and Thala aka Mahendra Singh Dhoni, makes an epic entry for his boys, driving a massive road-roller into the equation. This may be a tribute to Mahi's ability to show up in the clutch and like a superhero, single-handedly finish the game in favour of his side. MSD, however, also shows other characteristics of a superhero as he gets rid of the 'wall' that divided the young fans from the players, bringing the youngsters to his side. When one of the aspirants comes forward to introduce himself, the captain of Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli stops him in his way and says: “Name chhodh… Game dikha.” This seems to be the narrative that is going surround this IPL season. With numerous new striplings making their way to all the glitz and glamour, it is their game that will help them make their name in the cricketing world. Fans on Twitter are running out of ways to praising this new promo: BEST IPL ADDDD EVER......ð¤©ð — Rahul Chakrabarty (@rahulchoco7) March 5, 2019 @iamkarthi_V Best promo till date. :) — Prabhu Kandasamy (@PrabhuK_PK) March 5, 2019 Entry of msâ¤ï¸ — Vamshi (@svamshi183) March 5, 2019 ð¥ð¥ð¥ðð — Ràjá RãjPûT (@Prabhat17605793) March 5, 2019 Brilliant!ð ð¶ðµð§ðµð¶ — Kedar Kulkarni (@outwidit) March 5, 2019
  3. 'Game of Thrones' is hands down one of the most popular TV series of recent times, and we simply cannot ignore the ardent fan following the show enjoys. From mind-boggling fan theories to crazy fans going out of their way to prove their loyalty, 'Games of Thrones' can boast of it all. © HBO However, much like it is the case with most fandoms, GOT fans have also proven their allegiance to the show time and again. So it is only expected that the makers of 'Game of Thrones' be gracious towards this outpouring of faith and support from fans all around the world. Well, seems like the GOT team has taken note of its fans' undying love for the show, and they decided to share it with the rest of the world. So HBO recently released its own 'Fan Anthem' #ForTheThrone on GOT's official YouTube channel, ahead of the premiere of the last season in April. The video is a visual montage of tributes GOT fans paid to show, and the best part is that it includes the musical tribute of a 18-year-old Kashmiri boy. Sufiyan Malik from Srinagar in Kashmir can be seen in the video, playing the traditional Rabab, which has been taken from his Game of Thrones tribute video called 'The Cure'. As if the haunting and soulful musical tribute itself was not enough, the video play out is absolutely stunning with its picturisation, and choice of location. But what's more, Tyrion and the Night King also make a cameo appearance in the tribute video! You gotta check out the tribute, 'cause Sufiyan Malik did all of us GOT fans out there real proud.

  5. Seems like we have a back-to-back string of proud moments for every art loving, cinema appreciating Indian out there. After Rima Das' 'Village Rockstars' became the official entry for India to the Oscars 2019, turns out that Bangladesh's official entry now has a wonderful Indian connection. Irrfan Khan's 'Doob- No Bed Of Roses' is now their official entry for the Academy Awards next year. The movie has been co-produced by Irrfan himself and follows the story of a filmmaker, who finds himself simmering in controversy after a tryst with his daughter's friend, that lands him in a soup. The movie has been written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and is apparently inspired by a real-life story which actually shook the conservative Bangladeshi society. © Jaaz Multimedia The movie was banned in the country after everyone claimed that it was loosely based on the life of Humayun Ahmed, a famous Bangladeshi filmmaker who divorced his wife of 27 years and married an actress 33 years his junior. © jaaz mutimedia The ban was eventually lifted last year in October, after which the movie was viewed in many countries and won many critical accolades as well.
  6. While watching a 'masala' pop movie is loved by all of us and re-runs of 'K3G' is like a Sunday jam we play on repeat, can we, for a moment, please praise the movies which are made in some of the most beautiful corners of this country and deserve our dire attention? It gives us immense pleasure in telling you that our official entry for the Oscars is not a big budget, 100-crore scraping movie, but a wonderfully made Assamese film called 'Village Rockstars'. The movie is helmed by Rima Das and follows the story of a 10-year-old boy who dreams of forming his own band and playing guitar. The movie also won a national award in the 'best feature film' category and won many accolodaes across the globe. With tears of joy and a feeling of pride, I humbly accept this news. #VillageRockstars is India's official entry for the #Oscars ! Let that sink in ð https://t.co/CoprRkBT50 — rima das (@rimadasFilm) September 22, 2018 Congratulations have been pouring in for the team for this happy piece of news. More power to you Rima. — Vaishali Sinha (@VaishaliSinha) September 22, 2018 I still remember my conversation with @rimadasFilm at @Festival_Cannes I had seen pieces of #VillageRockstars and told her and @siffcy @Jitendra_siffcy that its a matter of time when you will walk up to the #Oscar19 and change the World. â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ https://t.co/2DMiKUaLcZ — Vikas Khanna (@TheVikasKhanna) September 22, 2018 Finally a movie which captures the essence of our roots and tells a narrative straight out of the interiors of our country will represent us. Looks like cinema is evolving now!
