Proper Patola We initially didn't like this one a lot but it eventually grew on every party scene and now it's here to make you dance for a long time. 5. Zingaat Well 2018 and Bollywood in general has been a store house of old songs being mixed again and this one is yet another party addition for us.
  2. Classics are fabulous—be it novels, movies, music, food or any other entity. Who doesn't like the classic “Rajma Chawal” or “Maacher Jhol-Bhaat” or a rendition of Mohammad Rafi songs? The nostalgia and charm attached to them give a warmth to the soul. Their timeless appeal is inescapable and the simplicity with which they come is heart-warming. In the library (read the heart) of a book lover (or a hoarder for that matter), classic novels hold a special place, they take you back to a time (mostly the turn of the century) when matters were uncomplicated and manners were important; a simpler time. Gallant gentlemen, beautiful damsels and all the charm in the world. Oh, nothing can compare to joy of reading and getting lost in the wonderful world created. Like Caroline Bingley (Pride and Prejudice) says: “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.” Here are the top ten English Classics which every book lover must possess: 1. Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen): “There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.” © Amazon A staple in every novel connoisseur's library, Jane Austen's famed novel is an epic masterclass in love and the struggle one must endure in order to find a worthy partner. The novel that makes even the best of men to pale in comparison to Mr. Darcy, in the eyes of any woman/man. Focusing on the five Bennet sisters, whose mother is hell bent on marrying them off to wealthy gentlemen (because what else is there to life, right?); her plan is set into motion when Mr. Bingley moves into the neighborhood. What follows is a cornucopia of verbal altercations, fancy balls, affairs, elopement and finally love. The threshold for a romance hero, the handsome and mysterious Mr. Darcy and the feisty firebrand, Elizabeth Bennet star in this epic novel laced with emotions. The novel questions the archaic social constructs and your thoughts: is love more important than your pride and prejudice? One of Jane's first feminist heroines, Elizabeth Bennet doesn't believe that marriage is essential for the sustenance of a woman's life (and rightly so) and has high ideals for a perfect mate. Mr. Darcy on the other hand, is a man of the old world, and doesn't believe in the foolish notions of love leading to a continuous struggle between their ideas and fascination with each other. An eternal story of love, romance and the adage of “opposites attract”, this novel is a must-have and must-read for every romantic ever. P.S.: Whoever tells you that men shouldn't read Jane Austen, please hit them with the same novel. USP: Elizabeth Bennet is one of the most entertaining characters to have been ever written. Mr. Darcy is the epitome of the perfect guy (and most probably your girlfriend's idea of the ideal boyfriend). 2. Wuthering Heights (Emily Brontë): “If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.” © Pinterest The doomed romance of a man who becomes a (metaphorical) monster, pining for the love of the woman he can't have, Wuthering Heights is a delight to read. With its supernatural, goth themes and forbidden romance, this story will make your heart weep for the two leads; surly Heathcliff and the sultry Catherine Earnshaw. Emily Brontë's celebrated novel follows the story of two star-crossed lovers, who grow up together but can't marry because the society wouldn't approve. Emily Brontë brings to life the emotions of a wronged man, his agony and despair over his life and the choices he makes, is a case study in the human psyche and morality. The heroine, unlike other heroines of other novels, is not a goody-two shoes and is a manipulative woman who doesn't care about what stands in her way and stands up to the social injustice meted out because of her gender yet is unsure about her choices. Charting the lives of the leads from their childhood to their eventual doom, and the effect it has on their posterity, the novel touches upon the dark side of love. The novel features an anti-hero and anti-heroine, they are not your quintessential characters; they are flawed and make mistakes, wherein lies the beauty of the novel. Inspired by Emily's own personal struggles, this novel is one of the best romantic novels of all time, a departure from archaic Victorian novels of that age. USP: The thrilling and ominous tone of the novel will make you feel that you are reading a suspense. Heathcliff is the most relatable character, you need to read it to know it. 3. Anna Karenina (Leo Tolstoy): “If you look for perfection, you'll never be content.” © Penguin Classics Don't we all just want to be loved? Leo Tolstoy's epic drama about a woman in 19th century Russia, we follow Anna in her struggle to fit into society, trying to maintain her stature and achieve her dream of a perfect life. The realist fiction novel has all the classic elements: affairs, societal pressure, infidelity, social classism, grand balls, family and religion. Spread over eight parts, segregated into two volumes, it focuses on Countess Anna whose scandalous affair with a cavalry officer, Count Alexei Kirillovich Vronsky, has made her the stock for gossip around Saint Petersburg. After a socially unsuccessful flee to Italy with her lover, to get away from her tarnished reputation and have her only hope for happiness, but returns with Vronsky to Saint Petersburg, only to be shunned by society and becoming increasingly jealous and paranoid about her lover. Eventually, she sets out on a path of self-destruction to find what she what thought was once love. A parallel story runs with Konstantin "Kostya" Dmitrievich Lëvin, fashioned on Leo Tolstoy himself, who shares the same social circles as Anna and is struggling with his own love life and religious sentiments. Shunned by his object of desire, Kitty, in favor of Vronsky, Levin further falls into the cynical trap of helplessness. Tolstoy's heroine is beautiful and smart, but her greatest quality is that she is human, like any of us. Without falling into a troupe of larger-than-life heroines, she manages to engage the reader throughout. The same can be said about Vronsky, but his nonchalance can become irritating after a time. USP: Trains seems to be a recurring theme in the novel, most of the important scenes happen on the trains or on the platforms; an allegory to the strength of communication but also the depth of the distance between lovers. 4. Jane Eyre (Charlotte Brontë): “If all the world hated you and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved of you and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends.” © Amazon The Bronte Sisters changed English literature with their novels forever; it is a shame that they never got to live enough to see their work being appreciated. Jane Eyre is a beloved classic centering on an orphan girl, Jane who is unloved and uncared for all her life and her journey to finding herself and the strength within. Narrated by Jane, the novel charts her journey starting at age ten, left in the care of her unfeeling aunt who prefers her to be gone and demeans her every chance she gets. Friendless but strong, Jane is sent away to a boarding school, Lowood which changes her outlook towards life and finally finds a purpose. She befriends Helen Burns who awakens her philosophical side. Thereupon, the novel shifts to an older Jane, who becomes a governess at Thornfield Hall and eventually falls in love with Mr. Rochester, her employer who seems perfect. The rest of the novel deals with the aftermath of her love and the trials and tribulations has has to face in lieu of the things she deserves. Jane Eyre is a strong female character, used as a question by Charlotte on the archaic principles set by society. She is shown as a woman with a personality; though she might look frail, her mind is made of steel, constantly challenging themes such as sexuality and religion. The novel poignantly touches topics which people prefer to ignore. 5. 1984 (George Orwell): “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.” © Amazon George Orwell's dystopian, sci-fi, political novel is a much loved and revered English Classic. Playing on themes of modern science and technological advancements, this novel is the perfect example of fore-shadowing by an author way ahead of his time, portraying the perils of a totalitarian world. The elements and themes of the novel are exemplary; be it the division of the world in super-states and the division of the classes and the ministries which enforce the rules and the unseen, omnipresent leader of Oceania, Big Brother. With its futuristic setting, it follows a world which has been torn apart by atomic wars and conflict and stripped down to three totalitarian zones: Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia. Set in 1984, it follows middle class Outer Party member, Winston Smith who lives in Airstrip One (fictional Britain) and works at the Ministry of Truth, which works to rewrite history according its terms. Anyone who falls in the Party's bad books disappears. Everyone is constantly monitored by the Think Police using double-sided screens. Sexually and mentally frustrated with his life, Winston thinks of rebelling against the Party and become a “thoughtcriminal” and starts a forbidden affair with Julia, which only makes matters worse. What follows is a manic ride of suspense and intrigue. The novel features a highly developed system to track people who think and don't conform to the ideas of their state. “Newspeak” is used as a medium to limit the thinking of a person, with limited vocabulary and restricted grammar, it is a satire on the freedom of speech. What is mind-blowing about the novel is the thought process behind the different concepts employed, which are seeing the light of the day in today's era. “Doublethink” featuring in the novel is the ability to hold two completely contradictory thoughts simultaneously while believing both to be true; imagine that. USP: The novel is an allegory of the degradation of human thinking and values and the falling standards of life and the political machinations that play a role in it. It is astonishing that a book published in 1948 is still relevant. 6. War and Peace (Leo Tolstoy): “If everyone fought for their own convictions there would be no war.” © Penguin Classics Another Leo Tolstoy magnum opus, the novel deals with the revolution in Russia and the conflict between France and Russia during the reign of Napoleon. The focus is given on five aristocratic families: the Bezukhovs, the Bolkonskys, the Rostovs, the Kuragins and the Drubetskoys, and how they strive to maintain their status in a war-ridden Russia. The intertwining and intermingling of the families set the tone of the novel. Though war plays a significant subplot, the main emphasis is given on the result of actions of individuals and their experience. The 19th century backdrop with an impending war makes this an intriguing read. Count Pyotr Kirillovich ("Pierre" Bezukhov) is the main character and is a manifestation of Tolstoy's own ideas and beliefs, an alter-ego of himself. Socially inept and illegitimate, his fortune makes him desirable in society though he strives to become more successful in his social skills and tries to mature as a person. A study of the political implications on personal life, this novel is regarded as one of the greatest novels of all time. Inspired by real-life characters and incidents with Napoleon and Prince Mikhail Kutuzov featuring in it, this epic is a gigantic mixture of intellectual writing with Tolstoy's heroines make the most significant impacts in the novel and the readers, especially Natasha Rostova who epitomizes grace, intelligence and though not classically beautiful (as mentioned in the novel) is vivacious and puts most of the story in action. USP: The novel is a great history lesson, with its realist themes and an equally divine prose by Leo Tolstoy, the vulnerability of the characters makes them more endearing; a critique of the 19th Century history, if you will. 7. Little Women (Louisa May Alcott): “I've got the key to my castle in the air, but whether I can unlock the door remains to be seen.” © Vintage Classics Set in the Civil War Era, Little Women focuses on the four sisters of the March family residing in Massachusetts, headed by the matriarch Margaret “Marmee” March. With their father off at war, the sisters; Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, must strive to fulfill his aspirations for them and fulfill their own dreams. With family as a main theme, this novel written by Louisa May Alcott was a stupendous success when published and was loved by the masses. The novel, written in two volumes, follows the March sisters as they mature from young adolescents to mature women, each with their own charisma, intelligence and perception of the world. When tragedy strikes the March household, each girl learns something from the loss they have suffered. They befriend the neighbor boy, Lawrence (Laurie) who is their second male acquaintance after their father, who introduces them to various adventures. Jo is the character who shines in the novel, be it her adherence to her principles or her love for her family. The characters are extremely well-written and grow throughout the novel; Meg, with her dreamy outlook and her penchant for good things and her eventual disillusionment, Josephine, the tomboy and rash second-eldest daughter with a love for books and writing, Beth, the good-natured, musically-inclined, shy person who is loved by all and Amy, the youngest and the spoilt one who is obsessed with her looks and is an artist. A sweet tale about friendship, love, family and most importantly one's uniqueness, this novel will surely make you cry and laugh and the characters will remain with you long after you have turned the last page. USP: The witty writing and the beautiful, eloquent prose is a reason why you should have this novel. It will change your outlook towards life and make you realize the way we take some things for granted. 8. Tess of the D'Urbervilles (Thomas Hardy): “A strong woman who recklessly throws away her strength, she is worse than a weak woman who has never had any strength to throw away.” © Penguin Classics Thomas Hardy's scandalous novel features Tess, a young, country girl whose life gets entwined with the rich and powerful D'Urbervilles. In the hopes of a better life and constant pressure from her family to use her beauty to her advantage, she falls prey to circumstance and ends up losing her spirit, helped by the notorious Alec D'Urberville. Furthermore, she reinvents herself, falls in love and starts life anew but unbeknownst to her, her past catches up with her. How she faces her hardships is what sets the tone for the rest of the novel. Initially censored because of its sexual themes and the non-adherence to classical Victorian novels, the novel has now garnered praise and is considered a classic. With motifs of modernism, Hardy explores the underlying prejudice of the rich and how their influence on the lower classes changed the class system in England. Set in 1870s, during the Long Depression, the novel focuses on the way the poor were misled and how the minds of people can be changed by a few flattering words, apparent in the episode of the Parson telling Tess's father that he is related to the D'Urbervilles which sets in motion the eventual ruin of Tess. The continuous struggle between the poor and rich is the main theme, seen from the eyes of a woman, whose desires and beauty lead her to her doom. Divided in seven phases, Tess's life starts from that of a maiden to a future she never had dreamt. USP: The language of the novel and the character development is exceptional. 9. Middlemarch (George Eliot): “And, of course men know best about everything, except what women know better.” © Penguin Classics George Eliot's historical novel is a tale of an intelligent woman who believes in the service of others and that a good deed never remains unnoticed. Set in the fictitious Middlemarch in the late 1820's we find ourselves focusing on Eliot's idealist heroine, Dorothea Brooke, beautiful and intelligent with high aspirations and who wants to make a difference in the society starting by actively renovating buildings for farmers. She marries an elderly gentleman, Rev. Edward Casaubon, in the same hopes and to help him in his research but ends up being disappointed when her husband turns out to be completely different from her imaginings. She then starts anew on her ideas on her own but is looked down upon by the society, further fueled by her close friendship with Will Ladislaw. The novel also features other subplots pertaining to an intelligent but unsuccessful doctor Tertius Lydgate whose ideals are questioned when he tries to woo his eventual wife, the mayor's vain and shallow daughter, Rosamond Vincy. His quest entraps him in a difficult predicament which he had not foreseen. Both Dorothea and Tertius are born in the wrong century; seen as pedants by their peers, they let their wrong decisions and egos come to the fore in the journey of fulfilling their ideals. USP: George Eliot's shrewd understanding of the society makes this novel a compelling read. Her story differs from her contemporary novelists and this is where she stands out. 10. Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury): “If you hide your ignorance, no one will hit you and you'll never learn.” © Penguin Classics Imagine a world with no books. Dreary, isn't it? Published in 1953, another dystopian novel showing a rapidly deteriorating world, the plot follows Guy Montag, a fireman whose job is to burn books (the title being the temperature at which paper burns). Books are frowned upon by the current society and it is the job of these firemen to purge the society of books. Entertainment comes from parlor-walls (flat-screen TVs) and other sources like movies and comics. It is only books which are being erased while magazines (***, lifestyle and decor) and other media forms thrive. Guy Montag has a change of heart when he meets his new neighbor, teenaged Clarisse, a forward-thinking and progressive girl who changes his perception of books and his life. When he tries to incorporate the same with his television and drug-obsessed wife, his life changes for the worse. His attempt to change the society comes with a terrible price, a fact he hadn't anticipated. A horde of elements feature in the novel: a Hound that sniffs out books and helps the firemen to destroy books, a boss who sees no evil in the destruction of books. It lays bare the society's fixation on easily available entertainment and the fact that people do not want to use their brains or provide nourishment to their mind leading to narrow-minded thinking and a shallow society. USP: The ingenious imagination of the author shines through the novel. It is a must-read because of its avant-garde plot, inspired by Bradbury's own experiences. So, have you read these? If not, go and buy these and make your personal library a little more beautiful. Happy Reading! :D
  3. It's that time of the year again. The time when we take an imaginary oath to redefine our lives and change for good. The time when we promise ourselves that from now onwards we'll adopt good habits and drop the bad ones. The time when we make a promise to become a better person and post it with a dumb hashtag like #NewYearNewMe. But unfortunately, this passion and enthusiasm don't last for long. And by the end of the first month, we're back to being us. This is because we set too high a goal. From being a couch potato on 31st December it is really unfair to expect from ourselves to become Ranveer Sign in the gym on 1st of January. These drastic resolutions would never be possible. Instead, we should take step by step approach and work our way to become a better person. Following are five such resolutions which are practical and you can stick to it: 1. Exercising Everyday There's no need to take a 6-month gym membership on 1st of January. Start slowly. Promise yourself that you will do light exercises every day. It can be a stretching exercise and a brisk walk, or yoga, or in-house cardio. Once you get in the rhythm and start enjoying it, only then go and apply for that gym membership. Gradually convincing your body and mind is an easier and better way to adopt the change. 2. Saving A Little Every Month There's no need to promise yourself that you'll save for a Euro trip in the next four months. That's not going to happen, especially if you're the kind whose account gets empty by the end of the month. Instead, open a separate account and promise yourself not to touch it. Each month, as soon as your salary gets credited, put 20% of it in that account. Manage your expenses in the remaining salary. Save first, spend later should be your resolution. 3. Being Happy In Your Own Skin We all have our heroes and people we envy. Almost all of us have that someone with whom we would love to trade our life completely. It could be because of their looks, their career, their relationship, or could be anything which we think we're lacking at. But we forget that we have only seen the beautiful side of their life and not their struggles. This year, promise yourself that you would be happy with what you have and work hard to achieve what you want. Enough of the pretentious life! Be happy, love yourself, and flaunt it! 4. Exploring New Places, Alone You don't have to put a trip to Amsterdam in your resolution. Start with a nearby place which you haven't seen. Plan a solo trip. That would be one of the best experiences of your life. It would evolve you, mentally and emotionally. It's easy to have fun in the company of our friends. But if you learn to enjoy your own company, if you learn to enjoy the solitude in a constructive way, you would become a more responsible, calm, and happy person. 5. Time Management Last but not least. Learn to manage your time well, and stick to your schedule. Give time to everything; exercise, meals, work, hobbies, partner, parents, and most importantly, yourself. It's not impossible to have all these in 24 hours. Make a schedule and follow it rigorously to make your life better. These were some pretty doable resolutions which are not at all hard to follow and would benefit you in a big way. Ready to evolve in 2019?
  4. What do you do when you realise your four-years worth of engineering degree isn't quite living up to your expectations, and the sound of your career path ascending towards global partnerships isn't something you are looking forward to anymore? Well, we are not sure about what anyone else would do in such a situation, but here is what Shantanu did - he bid adieu to his engineering degree from NIT Nagpur and quit his fancy job at McKinsey, to give men the best shaves of their lives. No, really. We are not kidding. © MensXP Shantanu Deshpande, a computer science engineer by degree and working with a globally recognised management consulting company McKinsey, ditched the “good life” in the blink of an eye, to give the smoothest shaving experience to the urban male population in India. It was a conversation with his US-based childhood friend Manu that really triggered the idea of setting up one of India's best selling men's grooming brand, Bombay Shaving Company, in October 2015. The conversation that revolved around the boom in men's grooming startups in the United States, and how these new and quirky newbies were taking on FMCG giants like Gillette, sent Shantanu into a tizzy, with the need to explore similar opportunities closer to home. After much research and deliberation, as well as detailed discussions with industry veterans, Shantanu realised that it was the right move to shake up the underserved and monopolised market - and there lay his chance! © MensXP Shantanu along with his Raunak Munot, Deepu Panicker and Rohit Jaiswal took the big plunge and co-founded the company playing on each one of their strengths, that seemed to completely fit with the company's core needs. What started out as 500 annual shipments in 2016, has scaled up to 10,000 shipments a month today. What's even better news for Shantanu is that the official website sees 300,000 average visitors every month! Today, Bombay Shaving Company functions on both online and offline routes of business, and their products are spread across four categories, namely shaving, bath, beard and skin. With a team of 60 young professionals, Bombay Shaving Company is trying to create a product range that distinctly stands out for its credible product quality. © MensXP Along with product innovations that the brand is trying to bring to their individual products, they are also trying to incorporate consumer feedbacks in their newest productions. Be it their single blade neo-retro razor or the beard care starter kit, each of their creation reflects the amount of research and passionate involvement that the final product has gone through. It is Shantanu's vision and desire to see his team grow to its fullest potential, all with risks, mistakes and failures, that makes this brand so different from others. With these guys being so invested in grooming the urban men to perfection, the future for Bombay Shaving Company only seems more bright. © MensXP Learn about the many challenges and successes that Shantanu's decision reaped in the longer run, and how Bombay Shaving Company went on to fulfill Shantanu's larger dream of seeing well-groomed men walking the face of this earth, in this exclusive conversation with MensXP.
  5. Burglary isn't the only reason behind installing high-protection security systems, in fact, it might not even be the primary reason. People residing in these houses are worth millions. It is not a coincidence that the world's most protected homes are of some of the richest people or families in the world. They are making enemies on the go and some of them are celebrities who need protection from crazy fans. Here are some of the most protected residences in the world: 1. Fair Field Estate © YouTube To protect valuables worth more than the GDP of a country, how much will you possibly spend? IRA Renard is a billionaire who is a true art collector. He owns a 200 million dollar home in Hamptons which envelopes art roughly worth 500 million dollars. Hamptons is a place famous for two things; beaches and cottages. Amongst those cottages, this high-security mansion definitely stands out. High-tech security gates, thousand cameras eyeing every corner of the estate and bulletproof windows protects these half-billion dollar valuables. 2. The Zombie Bunker © YouTube If you think comic book lovers take zombies too seriously, brace yourself. This London-based house is zombie-proof and rightly named- Zombie Bunker. The solid concrete walls of this house are movable. Not only this, the walls and windows are backed up with thick iron sheets. The only entry and exit to the zombie bunker is a drawbridge system. The entry/exit is pretty hard to locate, especially for brainless zombies. 3. Bill Gates' Home © Wikimeida commons A tech guy is the one whom you would expect to have a high-security house. And Bill Gates is the epitome of a tech guy. Needless to say, he has emptied his pockets for extra security. From a mile away, the heat detector will alert the residents of any intruder. Also, the entire house is installed with cameras. Every invited guest has to wear functional pins which control the thermostat and other electrical equipment in the house. However, Bill Gates knocked nature's door for privacy by planting multiple rows of trees around his mansion to act as paparazzi shield. 4. Kimye residence © YouTube The Paris robbery shook the digital world along with the Kardashians. It gave Kim some serious concerns about their security. She fired her former bodyguard Pascal Duvier and hired a new team of bodyguards after performing thorough background checks. The security check to enter their house is also one of the best in the country. For the sake of secrecy, Kim and Kanye created a rule of never posting pictures of their 16 million dollar mansion on social media. She now commutes in multiple cars to fool the attackers. According to reports, they even have a safe room in their mansion for menacing incidents. 5. Maximum Security Mansion © YouTube The name of the house isn't misleading, if anything, it is a subtle warning to the burglars. The property, occupying 32 acres of land, has a security system worth six million dollars. The entire space has multiple cameras installed in every corner whose live footage can be seen on any iPhone with access to their application. The fingerprints of any intruder will be scanned within 20 minutes, thanks to the thermal system. The centralized super sensor updates about any suspicious activity happening in the house. 6. The Corby Family Residence © YouTube This California house has the most Sci-Fi security system you can get your hands on. A biometric recognition system will greet you on the entry gate. In event of an intrusion, the members can alert the police without using phones, from any room of the house by pressing a few buttons. Also, until police arrive, they can stall the intruder by releasing fog from their fog machine. 7. Ryongsong Residence © Getty Images The saying “No human is immune to fear”, includes Kim Jong-un (if you can consider him a human). The Ryongsong Residence is where the Royal Family of North Korea resides. It is claimed to be one of the most secure places on Earth. When you are the dictator, you have no legal or financial restrictions. So much so that he has a minefield surrounded by an electric fence along with armed guards. His house is also immune to a nuclear blast. There are secret underground tunnels which connect the Ryongsong Residence to other royal residences like Chanyoung House. We are not even discussing the punishment the intruder will receive. 8. Buckingham Palace © YouTube There are very few in the world who have not heard about the Buckingham Palace. It is a popular tourist spot with a rich history. But, what you might not know that it is one of the most secure places in existence. Even though there is minimum technological input to secure the place, the manual contribution is definitely impressive. They have a famous ring guard system. To ensure that no guard slumbers, they have each guard guarding the other. Say, guard A mans guard B who is guarded by guard C and this is how a chain is formed. 9. The White House © YouTube Here's an interesting piece of trivia for you, Obama was the most heavily guarded president in the world. To make this happen, security around The White House had to be tightened. Just like some privileged people have all-day serves at their houses, The White House has a special agent present at all times who personally manages the entry and exit of every single person. They have restricted airspace to prevent any helicopter or private jet from flying over The White House. To facilitate this, they have radars and infrared sensors which detects unwanted movements miles from the mansion, on land as well as the sky. Needless to say, the house has bulletproof windows and strong walls. Even their iron fence is strong enough to hold the impact by any car imaginable. 10. Kronstadt Fort Alexander I © Wikimedia Kronstadt Fort is also known as the Plague Fort. It was built to protect Saint Petersburg along with other Imperial Russian soldiers, scientists (researching the Plague cure) and even ravers. It floats on water and the architect ensured the security of the place so much so that till date, it lies in abandon. 5535 12-meter-long piles dig deep into the ocean to hold the fort against wild waves, pirates and enemies. These piles are made of multiple layers- sand, concrete and granite.
  6. If there's one character in 'Game of Thrones' who's loved by all, it is Tyrion Lannister. The man certainly knows how to pull off the complicated character of a wise drunkard womanizer. His chilling dialogue 'I demand a trial by combat' still gives goosebumps. He is one of those characters who has the most enemies and yet, is standing tall and proud till the last season. After Arya Stark, if anyone has mastered the art of surviving, it's Tyrion Lannister. Here are the five things which we can learn from him: 1. Keep Your Friends Close But Your Enemies Closer “That's what I do. I drink and I know things.” Tyrion's worst enemy was his family, especially his father & sister. They blamed him for his mother's death. Being a dwarf in a king's family didn't help the cause either. Despite facing death threats, Tyrion didn't budge and stayed with his family for as long as he could. He knew he would be most safe from where he can see what his enemy is planning. So he stayed there, in the den of lions, knowing he's their prey. 2. Never Underestimate Yourself “A very small man can cast a very long shadow. Remember the time when Tyrion shot his father while he was on the toilet? IT WAS AMAZING! No one saw it coming, NO ONE! He knew if he wants to live, he has to take care of his father first. People often laughed at his size yet he was the one who killed the most powerful man of the seven kingdoms. Moral of the story is, you can achieve anything if you have the nerve to do it. 3. Don't Be A Wannabe “Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will no. Wear it like an armour and it can never be used to hurt you.” The sexiest thing that you can have is the comfort in being yourself. There's nothing better than a man who is confident in his own skin. Never hide your true self in order to fit in. It's easy to tell if someone is genuine or faking it. Be yourself and the world will appreciate you for it. 4. Read. As Much As You Can. “A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge.” Intelligence is sexy! If you can sit in a group and can comfortably discuss any topic that is thrown at you, then my friend you're on the right track. Knowledge is a powerful tool which can easily woo people. Read as much as you can, whatever you can, every book has its own kind of lessons. 5. Learn To Enjoy The Moment “I am the God of tits and wine.” Tomorrow will always make you worry and the past will always seem like a sad poetry, which could have been written better. All you have is today! Make time to enjoy it. Don't postpone your happiness for tomorrow, it might never come. Learn to live in the moment and enjoy every aspect of it. An amazing man, isn't he?

  9. You don't need us reminding you about the rising levels of harmful toxins in the air. In fact, as recently as a few days ago, nine out of the world's ten most polluted cities were in India. 10. We're all indecisive at some point in time in our lives. Be it a big decision or a small one, sometimes it's alright to be indecisive, so you can get clarity through the confusion. But more often than not, being indecisive is not that great a thing if you're a constant at it. It shows to the world that you're under confident and a scatter brain and that's usually not the best impression to have upon someone. While you can take your time and ponder upon things, which are probably more impactful because they're more important to you, you shouldn't display your indecisiveness in places where it can pose as a potential misfit for you! © Pinterest By that I clearly mean when you're just getting to know a girl, the little things that you do with regard to being indecisive can really play against you and you may end up annoying the girl you're with. While indecisiveness is okay when you're making bigger life decisions it's not okay while you're with someone and have met them for the first time and here are three ways to absolutely avoid being indecisive (1) Have A Plan In Mind Usually if you're asking the girl out, it has to be a planned effort and you definitely shouldn't act like you don't know what to do or where to go. Have a plan in mind. You don't necessarily have to tell her the entire plan but can let her in on the details step by step. Or you can narrate the plan to her and if she has any inputs or changes then she can tell you straight up. But don't be a guy without a plan. That'll really annoy her. If she's asking you 'what are we doing'? and you answer 'I don't know you tell me', you're just in for a world of abandonment by her! © Pinterest (2) Don't Have Multiple Plans That's another problem if you're indecisive. You can never decide what to do so you end up making a number of plans. Which isn't a bad thing. It's always good to have options and plan B's in hand . Just don't get confused or give her too many options. if you can't decide then go with your gut or just lay out the best plans to her and she can take a pick accordingly. © Pinterest (3) Don't Change Plans If You've Made Them If you've already made plans, then don't change them last minute because that reflects badly on your ability to carry out plans. Stick to plan and if you have to have a last minute change then make sure it's comfortable for her to adjust to, so she doesn't feel pressurised in any way. © Pinterest Indecisiveness is alright to an extent. Serious life decisions do take time but if you have to bring indecisiveness into your dating life on such a basic level then it can pose problems with the girl you're getting to know because women prefer men who don't rely on them to make decisions on the first date. Either decide what the two of you have in mind together, or plan a good evening with her.
  11. The last thing most of us do before stepping out of the house is to perform those last-minute checks in the bathroom mirror. Not only does doing that help us avoid making any embarrassing fashion faux pas, but the knowledge that we're leaving the house looking our best serves as a much-needed confidence booster as well! At the same time, it's also important to have a checklist for things you need to take with you to the gym. Does the idea of creating a checklist for your gym bag essentials seem like overkill? You might rethink that when you're dripping with sweat but have nothing to wipe it off with, or when you have to rush to a family gathering straight from the gym with nothing but your sweat-soaked workout gear as a clothing option. So to help you avoid those embarrassing situations, here's a list of essential items that should be taking pride of place in your gym bag every time you hit the gym. 1. Extra Towels © Amazon Towels have to be the most frequently used piece of equipment at the gym (and if that's not the case with you, you're probably doing something wrong!). In fact, a responsible gym-goer should have multiple towels handy—one to wipe the sweat off themselves, one to wipe any gym equipment before AND after using it (make sure you don't get the two towels mixed up) and a couple extra ones just in case. Most gyms do offer complimentary towels, but do you really want to use them not knowing who was using them before you? You can get your own gym towel, one that will quickly absorb sweat and cool you down, by clicking here MRP: Rs 299 2. Spare Clothes © Instagram/magic_fox In an ideal world, we'd all like to spend a couple of uninterrupted hours at the gym and then enjoy a well-deserved rest at home. Unfortunately, what we actually manage in the real world is a hurried hour or so of working out, usually before or after work or social gatherings. While you might not have a problem showing up for these plans in sweat-soaked clothes, we can assure you that the people around you definitely will! Pro tip: So if you're planning on going somewhere right after your gym session, check out this comfortable yet stylish t-shirt that comes equipped with Dri-FIT fabric to keep sweat stains away. MRP: Rs 1,695 3. Deodorant © Pixabay The first thing on your post-workout to-do list should be taking a shower, but that's easier said than done. Unfortunately, body odour doesn't care for your busy work and social calendar. So, if you don't have the time to hit the shower after the gym but don't want your overwhelming body odour to drive people away, your gym bag should always have a good deodorant. 4. Face Wash © Instagram/Tiger Shroff Are you so busy sculpting your dream physique that you're neglecting your skin? Investing in the best face wash based on your skin type will help keep your face acne free by unclogging your pores and clearing away dirt and grime, especially after those strenuous workouts. 5. Water Bottle © Pixabay Staying hydrated is just as important during a workout as maintaining proper form and using the right equipment. However, there always seems to be a long queue at the water cooler just when you need to hydrate. Why not avoid such a predicament by carrying your own water bottle to the gym? Pro tip: If you were planning on purchasing a water bottle to carry to your gym, check out this slim, spill-proof, leak-free, lightweight and sturdy option by clicking here. 6. Wireless Headphones © Instagram/Virat Kohli Nothing ruins a workout quicker than a pair of low quality headphones. Actually, a pair that keeps slipping off your head is just as bad. Worse still is forgetting your headphones entirely and having to work out to your fellow gym-goers' grunts instead of your favourite workout tunes. Wireless headphones have the answer to all those problems—they're easy to pack, look super stylish and allow you to enjoy your workout without getting tangled up in wires.

  14. Every boy learns something from his mother before he grows up to become a man. It's an inevitable process which garners a lot of what men think and the way they act, where life is concerned. A man's perspective and how he is towards other human beings, especially women, all stems from what their mothers teach them and how they raise them. If a man has a misdirected sense of entitlement, then clearly he's been conditioned into believing everything he does or says is okay. Which is something every mother should keep in mind while raising her son. Why mothers in particular? Because mothers are an epitome of how women should be treated by a man and if the boy grows up with a woman instilling values of respect and good behaviour in him, he will never shy away from making a woman feel like how she should. © Thinkstock Images There are households where women are not treated right and the boy sees his father disrespect his mother every day while growing up and somewhere thinks it's okay to treat women the way his father treated his mother. In such a case, mothers still have to stay strong and not let the boy believe women are weaklings and they deserve to be treated a particular way. Because if they don't, there will be more crimes of violence and otherwise, against women. So, this International Men's Day, let's aspire to be the men we always thought we should be and maybe look back upon how growing up with the strongest woman you know, helped you mould and shape you into a complete man. Here are the 5 basic things boys should learn when they're growing up to be good men. (1) It's OKAY To Express Most men think it's not okay to show emotions and they mask their emotions to come off as manly or macho. The truth is, men who can show their emotions and not mask them behind their manhood are prime examples of real men. Emotional intimacy is the strongest aspect a man can have. Not just for a woman. But a strong emotionally stable man can process any and every issue he has instead of garbing it or putting it underneath the rug. So, if you express your emotions healthily, you actually come off as a strong man and not a weakling. This can only happen if the mother, from the beginning, teaches her son that it's okay to show emotions and not hide them and also teach him to be emotionally intimate and talk about how and what he feels and not shy away from it. © Pinterest (2) Being A Gentleman Will Never Go Out Of Style My mother always insisted on my father and I carrying handkerchiefs in our pockets. She used to joke that it's chivalrous to pull one out just in case you see a woman crying. She didn't mean that with a bad intent. She only meant that men should be chivalrous, no matter what, as it'll never go out of style or become stale. Most women today look for a guy who can still open doors or hold doors, stand up when a woman leaves the table, offer to pick up the tab, drop her home when it's after hours etc. These things never go out of style, no matter how much we may progress. Even though women are capable of doing all these things on their own, it's just the respect you show a woman through these gestures. © Thinkstock Images A mother should teach her boys that respecting a woman by being his chivalrous best is very important and he'll get the respect of a woman threefold if he does it. (3) Taking Responsibility For His Mistakes Every man should be raised to take responsibility for his blunders and mistakes which will teach him to always do the right thing. Don't cover his mistakes and make him believe it's okay to make mistakes because that's the belief he'll grow up with, without taking any accountability. If he learns to acknowledge his mistakes he'll know real masculinity comes from within and he'll do anything in his power to rectify the mistake or never repeat it again. Men who come clean and accept responsibility for their mistakes are definitely more respected in society. © Pinterest (4) To Always Have Patience In Life Patience as a virtue is very important for anyone. A man will only strive through life with ample patience. Women inherently are more patient because research says biologically they have to deal with a child in their womb for 9 months which makes them naturally patient in nature and those are the values they should instil in their sons. A man with patience can overcome anything. steadfastly. © Pinterest (5) To Grow Up to Be Kind Kindness is the most important part of growing up. You have to learn to be kind to others around you and kind to yourself. No one can teach you to be kind but you can be conditioned into showing kindness whenever there is a need to be kind. Especially towards a woman. Not because she's weak but because in times of conflict it's important that a man bends his ego, puts his head in his heart and thinks through kindness. © Pinterest Boys should learn a lot more while growing up, to become the men they aspire to be and it will only come through conditioning and instilling the right value systems through the women who raise them. Raising good boys in society is the only way to end the lifelong patriarchy and everything else stems from it, for good.

    Every Relationship Argument

How do relationships go? What about the arguments? Kind of like this, right?
  16. 'Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' just hit the theatres, and you should watch it ASAP because the spoilers are going to get you and ruin your life. This article, however, contains no such spoilers. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's discuss about a particular fantastic beast - one of our favourites. This one is perhaps the cutest of them all, and the most mischievous too. We're talking about the magical Niffler. © YouTube © YouTube The first movie was enough to get us obsessed with them, but after watching the second movie, we are just convinced that every man should have a Niffler as a pet. Here are 4 reasons: 1. Nifflers are talented. They are natural treasure hunters. Tired of being broke? Get one and let it loose. You'll be rich in no time. Yes, the neighbourhood will complain about a mysterious crime-wave, but they had it coming anyway because it's time they paid back for poking their snouts into your business all the time. © YouTube 2. Nifflers aren't domestic creatures. In fact, they should not be domesticated because they can be destructive. So, you don't even have to keep them inside your house. They burrow and can live under the ground. Moral of the story: You don't need to have the conversation with your mum about keeping one in the house. Just keep something shiny handy every time you want to call them. Hassle-free AF! © Wizards And Whatnot 3. They are cute. They are naughty. They are faithful (wait till you find out what happens in the end of FB:2). They are just like doggos - that too intelligent ones like retrievers. In fact, they actually do retrieve gold. They will fill the void in your heart, as well as in your wallet. Why would you not want one? They are hands down the best pets, ever! © YouTube Just one teeny tiny technicality: they aren't real. However, baby Echidnas (also called Puggles), might just be the inspiration behind the creation of Nifflers. © Huffpost © Lorinda Taylor They look just like Nifflers, although we aren't sure about the retrieving treasure bit. It's worth a shot we say. Let the wizards have the Nifflers, while us Muggles make do with the Puggles.
  17. Arguments aren't something any of us look forward to, at any given point. No matter the person who is tugging at the rope on the other end. Most of us try to avoid as many of them as we can, while some of us also believe in initiating a few, simply to clear off a bothersome issues from our lives. But on most days, arguments are not that easy to come by. Thankfully, they are scarce in number, and too far in between. Yet, somehow the same cannot be said about relationships. In this latter case, arguments seem to crop up unannounced, and at times more often than we'd like them to. © Yash Raj Films However, arguing with your girlfriend is actually a sign that you are involved and invested in a relationship which is alive, allows you the freedom to openly present your case and express your thoughts and desires. Research has also shown that couples who argue effectively, are 10 times more likely to have a happy relationship. Now, some of you might say all of this looks great on paper and we do agree, because most fights in romantic relationships turn ugly pretty quickly. Hurtful words are hurled at each other, past instances come to play ghost, and basically all of it ends up ruining the party. So, if you happen to fall in this bracket more frequently than you'd like, then these 7 easy steps will not only ensure you win over every argue (without any conceit or malice), but also do so without hurting the woman you love on most days. *winks* © Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Step 1: Get In Her Shoes Or Err...Her Heels According to relationship therapist Nita Gurnani, an argument must leave the couple with a "renewed sense of understanding of each others' needs" - and not just be a venting channel for your frustrations. Therefore, we must try to consider the issue at hand from our girlfriend's point of view, and take it forward from there. Step 2: Pacify Her With Queries Allan Pease, author of the book 'Questions Are The Answers' talks about the art of communication, and shares how asking poignant questions allows us to understand the other's concerns better. At the same time, answering your questions will automatically get rid of a lot of misunderstandings which will allow you to resolve issue amicably. © ALT Entertainment Step 3: Be Upfront About Your Position Therapist Susan Pease Gadoua, who co-authored 'The New I Do, Reshaping Marriage for Sceptics, Realists, and Rebels' suggests that being brutally honest about your stand on the issue plays a vital part in communicating that your concerns need to be looked into. This in turn helps your girlfriend to see where you are coming from, and they initiate a resolution. Step 4: Don't Try To Negate The Concerns She Puts Forward Once your girlfriend shares her side of the story after you've asked for it, don't try to negate the issues/concerns she raises within it, by using the words “but” or “however” in your own argument. According to behavior scientists, use of these words communicates to the other person that you don't really care about their position. Step 5: Be Aware About Your Tonality & Body Language Even when things run high on emotions, which they often do, we must try to handle our personal emotions very neutrally. Why? Because it isn't just about what you say, it's as much about how you say it. Check you emotions and focus on your intentions throughout the conversation. © Dharma Productions Step 6: 'Listen' To The Argument Fading Away Make the most of the “WH” words you learnt as part of your English grammar. Studies have shown that words such as “what”, “why”, “how” and the like, provokes the other person to talk, and for you to listen to it. Listening to the other's concerns brings in understanding, which results in a solution. Besides women appreciate a man who really listens to what is being said. Step 7: Own Up If You've Messed Up Simply presuming that you can't ever be wrong is plain foolish. However, if you genuinely see that you did mess up in the first place. It's best to own up to it and apologise earnestly. That shows you're taking the matter seriously, which will help ease her anger by default. These simple steps work like a charm and you wouldn't even have to pull on a long face by the end of that next argument you find yourself in.
  18. Has the finale of a movie ever made you feel like the creators are stupid for creating sequels? I've not felt this angry in a long time. I mean, the brilliance of the climax of 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' was ruined by the fact that I'd have to wait God knows how long to see more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this series suffers from the same problem the Hobbit series did. It is not too long. It is not boring in parts. It is not different from anything else that has come out of the magical mind of J.K. Rowling. I'm just pissed off that they didn't go the Netflix way and release all the movies together. Come on Warner Bros., we know you can do it! Stop making us wait! © Warner Brothers Pictures Honestly, I didn't think anything could come close to the way I felt after 'Avengers: Infinity War.' But, 'The Crimes Of Grindelwald' turned me into a 16-year-old boy once again. I was back in the magical world I grew up in. While the first Fantastic Beasts movie served as a sort of welcome back to the Universe, this was the housewarming party. And guess what, everyone's invited! Okay, enough rambling, it's time to delve into the wizarding world and see what our protagonist, Newt Scamander is up to. No no, one more thing. Let me address all the other movie reviewers who have chosen to rip this movie apart for having Grindelwald in the title and not making him a central character. The movie is part of the 'Fantastic Beasts' series and it is the story of one man and one man alone. Not Albus Dumbledore, not Gellert Grindelwald. No, not even Credence Barebone! It is the story of Newt Scamander and don't you forget it. Also, here's the background score to help make this a more entertaining read. Now, let's get into it! Those Damn Muggles Why do muggles have to be so different? I understand that we all have jobs but, do you send an electrician to fix the plumbing? No! Then why would you send a muggle to review a Fantastic Beasts movie? Yes, it's best to detach yourself when writing a review, but sometimes, just sometimes, forming a strong bond with the lore behind the film you're watching, could amplify every single word. © Warner Brothers Pictures Is this the perfect movie for someone who has never seen a single Harry Potter movie? Hell no! I'm pretty sure there are a lot of Potterheads who won't consider this the best in the series either. But, none of them, I repeat, none of them, will call this the worst. And even if anyone does, is being the worst in one of the best series ever made actually bad? As Ralph of Wreck-It fame would say, “I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad.” Make sense? Kind of? Yeah, I think so too. National Treasures No, Nicholas Cage isn't going to sneak into this article (or you could say he did). There are very few people who I'd consider calling National Treasures (Jeremy & Chris from CinemaSins know what I'm talking about). Jude Law & Johnny Depp are right up there. Yes, Johnny has made some questionable decisions in his life, but the eccentricity that he brings to the screen is seconded by none (although Aamir did give it his best shot). As for Jude Law, he was the man that took Watson out from behind Sherlock's shadow. Now if that's not an achievement then what is. © Warner Brothers Pictures But, the two men I believe should be turned into national treasures right now are Eddie Redmayne and Ezra Miller. It's not the power-packed scenes that make me believe they are amazing. It's the simple ones. Their mannerisms. It's like they are the characters they portray. Not a single slip. You could literally watch the first and second movie in the Fantastic Beasts series and see no continuity errors in their mannerisms at all. Now, that's what I consider great acting. The Magical World Of Harry Potter Yeah, that's how we were introduced to J.K. Rowling's 'Wizarding World.' But here, we get to see a world that doesn't even know of the existence of Harry Potter. Is it not as magical? Well, it's a lot darker for sure. But, it's certainly just as magical. I hate the fact that we will never be able to go back to the first time we got on the train with Harry. That scene, although so simple, had the deepest impact on me. I'm pretty sure it did on all of us. We all desperately waited for our letter from Hogwarts for months, didn't we? It's because of that scene. Believe it! © Warner Brothers Pictures I love that 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald,' didn't waste any time trying to introduce us to the magical world again. We're just expected to know that magic exists in this universe. It's not special. Yes, these are the prequels, but we don't need to be reintroduced to the Stupefy charm. We are expected to know what it is! That's the way it should be! Fantastic Beasts Indeed This is where I think most No-Maj's lost the plot. They came to review a Harry Potter movie. But, he isn't in the movie. So, how do you pass your time? You criticize everything you don't understand. And if you're not a Potterhead, then there's a lot you aren't understanding. Everyone complains when a movie is too on the nose with every reference it's trying to make. Everyone complains when a movie subtly references something and expects the audience to be a fan and understand exactly what is happening. What do you want? © Warner Brothers Pictures Deep down, the title of the series should be a giveaway. The series is about Fantastic Beasts and this movie had some truly fantastic ones. I'm not going to go into the details of each and every one but they're majestic creatures for sure. I could marvel at their beauty all day long. If even one of you think they deserve a separate article by themselves let me know in the comments and I'll do it. Action Set Pieces That Would Make Michael Bay Proud You see Michael, there is a way to make things blow up and still make it believable. Giant robots are just as unbelievable as magic. I can't believe I got to see some of the best action set pieces of the year in 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.' It wasn't over the top at any point. It was all believable. I never for once thought we were venturing into the realm of the insane. Yes, you'd have to stretch the imagination a little since you are in a magical world, though. © Warner Brothers Pictures The action set piece right at the end gave me goosebumps. It was so powerful that I actually felt hope slowly drain out of my body. No, not because of what had happened. But, because I'm pretty sure I'm not going to see anything as powerful again any time soon. And quite frankly, that just sucks. James! Newton! Howard! James Newton Howard deserves a special mention. Music composers often go unnoticed by regular moviegoers without realizing how much of an impact they have on the story. Remember the feeling when you were taken back to Hogwarts for the first time? Think it was just the visuals that made it happen? Of course not! It was the music. Try watching it on mute and tell me if it has the same impact. Just a simple eagle eye view of Hogwarts can become so much more beautiful with the right music behind it. That's why James Newton Howard is also one of the leads of this movie. For sure! The Climax It's only fitting that we end with the climax. Before you read any further, be warned. Spoilers ahead! So, if you haven't watched 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' already, bookmark this link and come back once you have. © Warner Brothers Pictures It's been a while since a movie pulled the rug out from under my feet. Yes, Marvel did it with 'Infinity War'. But, we kind of had an idea that was coming. Here, it was a bolt from the blue and that's why the shock factor was much higher. I mean, I thought it ended after the battle at the cemetery. Then I thought it ended when Newt met Dumbledore at Hogwarts and handed him the pendant containing his blood oath. But, boy did I not see the gut punch. When Gellert said the name, Aurelius, I couldn't believe my ears. I was in shock. Even if you hated every single second right up to this point, your jaw was on the floor! Admit it! I sat staring at the credits for at least 10 seconds right after instead of immediately picking up my phone and typing frantically. Yes, that's impact. Partly because I didn't see that coming and partly because I probably just saw the best movie of 2018 and there's no way to obliviate myself so I can watch it for the first time, again!
  19. I entered the movie hall with a mixed perception in my head, thanks to some of the reviews (spoiler-free) I ended up reading online a day before. However, being a Potterhead I knew that not even one second would disappoint, but what I did not expect, was to keep getting the wind knocked out of me in intervals right unto the last goddamn moment! via GIPHY I had booked a Thursday night show, for which surprisingly not a lot of people showed up. So it was literally 30 odd people in the hall, who turned out to be diehard Potterheads like me. At one point after the intermission, we all ended up sitting together. Strangers yet united in love for the fandom. The unanimous “Ooooohhh” and “Aaaaaaah” and “F*****ck” was proof that we were all on the same page, as we tried to take in revelation after revelation and punched each other at every Harry Potter reference that was made. (I have a purple bruise on my arm now.) via GIPHY Look, I am not a severe critic. I don't make 'in-depth' analysis and break down the movie frame by frame and look for what went wrong. If my jaw is on the floor by the end, or I am a sobbing mess, or I am left with unending questions...that's proof that the movie has burned itself into my brain. And that is exactly what happened with 'The Crimes of Grindelwald'. via GIPHY Don't worry, I am not going to give out a single spoiler in this, however, I will let you in on a tip: The trailers are useless. Do not go into the movie hall with a very exciting notion about a particular clip you saw in the many trailers. Trust me when I say, the trailers do not give away literally anything from the movie. Yes, there is Nagini. Yes, Credence is back. Yes, Grindelwald and Dumbledore were 'closer than brothers', but that's about it. The rest of the movie, despite giving you the knowledge of these crucial things, will hit Potterheads like a freight train. via GIPHY A lot of reviews have called this movie 'miserable', 'disastrous' and 'muddled' and I just have one word for them: Muggles. via GIPHY So I have decided to list out things that, in my opinion, make this movie, a worthy sequel to 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them'. via GIPHY Eddie Redmayne continues to be a pure delight as the gentle, eccentric beast-loving Newt Scamander, who now finds himself burdened with a pretty massive mission by Albus Dumbledore. The kind-hearted Newt finds himself having to some touch decision which he never thought he would have to make, and I found myself sympathising for his dilemma. via GIPHY Jude Law almost steals Redmayne's thunder as the young, brilliant and ever so charismatic Albus Dumbledore, who finds himself facing his old friend-turned-nemesis Gellert Grindelwald. But, as you've seen in the trailers, he “can't move against” him, however, the reason may not be what you are thinking. © Warner Brothers There are a bunch of new beasts, who look absolutely incredible, but the entire hall collectively lost it when the baby Nifflers appeared on the screen. I swear, I thoughts Nifflers were freaking adorable, but nothing prepared me to see an even cuter version of the creature. And now, yes, getting to the part I know you want me to talk about: Credence and Nagini. How the two find each other is not as important as what they do when they are at the crossroads of their destiny. © Warner Brothers Credence is now fully aware of his powers but lands in Paris in search of answers to his past, and that is where Grindelwald comes in. He finds solace in Nagini, the Maledictus, who like him is 'different' and hates how she is forced to do someone else's bidding. Of course, every Potterhead knows that Grindelwald was not more terrifying than Voldemort, however, this movie makes it very clear, especially in one particular scene, that the dark wizard is equally capable of committing unspeakable horrors with a simple gesture, just “for the greater good”. via GIPHY Johnny Depp is brilliant as Grindelwald, channelling the dark wizard's calm yet ominously powerful presence, as he is on a mission to bring Purebloods to power and gather as many wizards as he can on his side. via GIPHY There is a lot going on in the movie, from Hogwarts flashbacks to the backstories of many crucial characters, which is why I must advise you this: ensure you are fully focused at all times. You cannot afford to miss out on anything, because everything is connected. You also need to know the books back and forth to be able to make most of the connections. via GIPHY God, I am dying to tell you the 'big thing' that happens, but of course, I won't. But believe me when I say that none of you will be ready for it. I along with the rest of the Potterheads in the hall was practically falling off my seat and clutching my head in disbelief when that particular scene unfolded. Okay. I won't say anything else. Gah, this is hard! Okay, NOW proceed with caution, as the copy has MAJOR SPOILERS. (Read on, only if you have watched the movie.) I have been holding myself back in this entire copy, and now I am going to pour out all the major questions I had by the end of the movie: . When did Abernathy switch with Grindelwald in the prison? Was Abernathy under the Imperious curse or was his allegiance genuine? How in the name of Merlin did he get a forked tongue?? . Why was the symbol of Grindelwald not splashed everywhere? In the last movie, he gave a chain with a pendant sporting his symbol on it to Credence, so why did we not see it anywhere in the movie, except that one time when Leta Lestrange goes back to Hogwarts and looks at her old desk, where the symbol is carved in there. . Did Grindelwald's henchmen actually seek out Queenie or did they stumble upon her in Paris? Did they want her on their side because she was a Legilimens, or because she was the sister of an Auror? Why was Grindelwald bent upon having her on his team? (Watching Queenie go over to the bad side broke my heart.) . Did the Mirror of Erised scene with Dumbledore and Grindelwald confirm their 'closer than brothers' relationship? Also, how did Dumbledore already have the Elder wand when they were young and were friends? . What the **** was that skull/hookah pipe thing Grindelwald was carrying around? Who did it belong to? What was its purpose and its power? . Okay, the big one now…Credence is revealed to be…Aurelius Dumbledore! (I nearly passed out when this happened). How is he related to Albus? In no way is he his direct brother if you know your timeline, so how are they 'brothers', if we go by what Grindelwald tells him. Oh, God is he lying to Credence? But then how did the Phoenix appear? 20. MS Dhoni aka Captain Cool is arguably the most successful and respected captain of the Indian cricket team. He is the one who made the legends dream and made them win their deserved World Cup in 2011. Not just the regular world cup, under his captaincy India has won numerous other trophies, the most prominent ones being T20 World cup of 2007, the 2010 Asia cup and the 2013 Champions cup. The most amazing thing is he still continues to play for the team and his fitness at the age of 36 years is nothing short of being called commendable. At the age of 36 years, athletes usually retire, but MS Dhoni is proving otherwise. It is something every athlete and fitness enthusiast should take inspiration from. What can we learn from MS Dhoni when it comes to fitness? © YouTube 1. You Cannot Do The Same Things And Expect Different Results MS Dhoni used to be a hardcore junk food dieter with his daily food consisting of things like Milkshakes, Chocolates, Butter Chicken, Naan, etc. Considering his activity levels, he was not going to get fat on this still he realized that having an exclusive junk diet is not beneficial to his health and his career. He started making changes and started monitoring his diet to take care not just of his fitness but his overall health too. 2. When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going MS Dhoni knew that age will not always be on his side when it comes to his career and his fitness. With age, he will have to work hard two times than what he used to initially. A self-admitted non-fitness freak, MS Dhoni used to enjoy sports and not really hit the gym and lift weights. He again realized that it is not always about what he likes and he will have to do weight training as well to stay at the prime of his game. He started lifting weights regularly and you can see a clip of his gym workout here: © YouTube 3. Always Be The Hardest Worker In The Room In an interview, MS Dhoni confessed that during the recent IPL 11 (which Chennai Super Kings won under his captaincy), he used to wake up early and do a rowing session before having his breakfast. He got a rowing machine installed in his hotel room just to get that extra work in and stay fit for the campaign. He is at a stage where a couple of bad performances or being a bit out of shape would be easily ignored considering his age and his achievements. But no, he did not want that. It was one of his best tournament performances and obviously, the overall win was just an expected result from a team led by a leader like him. © YouTube 4. Eat Your Damn Protein A piece on fitness is incomplete with the mention of protein, isn't it? Jokes aside, MS Dhoni has mentioned tens of times that how his diet includes a lot of protein-rich options, especially chicken, kebabs, and protein shakes compared to what he used to eat back in the day. Read this piece if you too want to know how much protein you should be eating. This just shows that age is certainly just a number for MS Dhoni and I expect that the country gets to see a few more years of him performing at the highest level of his sport.

Like it or not, higher cholesterol levels is a problem that is on a rapid rise since last few decades. Once thought of as a problem for the older generation, it's quickly making its way into the younger generation. What's astonishing is the fact that guys in their 20s are reporting problems with cholesterol. This problem is especially very common among people from the subcontinent due to: 1. Sedentary lifestyle 2. Very poor eating habits 3. Increased junk food consumption 4. Obesity Before we get into how you can get your cholesterol levels in control, let's take a look cholesterol first. What Is Cholesterol? © Thinkstock Cholesterol is a wax type substance found in the cells of your body. It is needed to make certain hormones and substances that help you digest food along with Vitamin D. Contrary to popular opinion, in healthy individuals, the body produces the all the cholesterol that you need and the production is regulated according to the dietary cholesterol intake. If you eat more cholesterol, your body produces less and vice versa, to maintain the levels needed. Cholesterol is needed for the body to function but too high levels of cholesterol can make fatty deposits accumulate in blood vessels. This will make the blood vessels narrower which leads to various ailments like heart attacks, coronary artery disease, strokes, or other vascular diseases. This is cholesterol in a nutshell. Now, you might have heard people talking about something called good and bad cholesterol. Let's understand them. Types of Cholesterol LDL(low-density lipoprotein) Cholesterol LDL is considered to be bad because it can accumulate on the walls of your arteries and increasing the chances of your getting heart diseases. The lower your LDL cholesterol is, the lower the risk. Ranges of around 190 or more are considered dangerous and you would have to be on medication and make lifestyle changes if you are around those numbers. HDL(High-density lipoprotein) Cholesterol When it comes to HDL the higher the numbers, the lower is the risk of heart diseases. HDL is considered as good cholesterol because it carries cholesterol from your blood back to your liver. This means that it keeps the bad cholesterol from building up in your arteries by taking it out of the blood and shuttling it back to your liver. Healthy Ranges © YouTube Total blood cholesterol is checked by looking at your LDL, HDL and other components when determining the risk for heart diseases. The amount of each type of cholesterol in your blood is a better predictor than the total amount of cholesterol in your blood. The ratio is LDL to HDL is very crucial in determining whether your cholesterol numbers are in healthy ranges or not. Increased numbers of LDL cholesterol indicate more risk for blocked arteries and health problems as opposed to HDL which lowers your risk of cardiovascular diseases among other ailments. HDL cholesterol also may have a protective effect on the blood vessels. When you get your cholesterol checked, either of the following happens: 1. Normal ranges of HDL and LDL 2. Higher LDL and normal HDL 3. Higher LDL and lower HDL Number two and three is not what your lipid profile should look like i.e they are not desirable. Causes Of High Cholesterol Unhealthy Eating Habits With socio-economic developments and comfort foods being available at the click of a button, unnecessary overeating and obesity are on the rise at an epidemic rate. Foods which contribute the most to a high cholesterol problem are saturated fats and trans fats which are most commonly found in are found in confectionary, processed refined and deep-fried fast foods. Sedentary Lifestyle With technological advancements, manual work has been less and less since the last few decades and has made the life of an average individual sedentary from active. Being sedentary all day along with unhealthy eating habits gives rise to a lot of health problems, high cholesterol resulting in cardiovascular diseases being the primary one. Apart from the above-mentioned reasons smoking, alcoholism, genetics and certain medical conditions can also contribute to high cholesterol How To Keep Cholesterol In Check If you are suffering from high cholesterol problems, there is a high probability that you are out of shape and do not pay much attention to fitness in life. The good news here is that you only have to do what you would do to get fit in order to get your cholesterol levels in check. That is: Nutrition: 1. Cut out processed and deep fried junk food from your diet. 2. Use monounsaturated fats (MUFA) for cooking. For example olive oil, rapeseed oil etc. 3. Eat in a caloric deficit to lose fat which automatically will reduce your cholesterol levels. 4. Take 2-3 grams of omega 3 fish oil supplements per day. 5. Eat more protein. Training: 1. Start being more active throughout the day like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, taking a walk every day etc. 2. Pick up a sport or an activity that you like and will make sure that you stick to it to keep active. 3. Do weight training for at least 3 days a week so that you do not lose muscle when you lose weight. The most important thing to do along with what's mentioned above is to make positive changes to your lifestyle. If you start being active and pay more attention to your nutrition only with the goal of improving your cholesterol, it will leave you directionless once you achieve that number. So, make sustainable changes to get fit that you can stick to forever and enjoy a superior quality of life as being fit is improving the quality of your life. 22. Shah Rukh Khan is probably the most active 53-year-old on social media but, after all, he is a typical dad and can't help himself but post cute, adorable pictures of his kids online. Actually, most of his pictures are of his youngest son AbRam, as SRK loves to show off how cute he is. Yesterday, he shared a bunch of pictures of AbRam wearing a t-shirt with a rather interesting quote. ( and an iPad loaded with games helps too )” Well, we always knew AbRam was a prince, but we thought it was because he's the son of none other than King Khan. But, no there are more reasons and SRK summed it up perfectly. He posted the same picture on Twitter as well with a lot of people replying – obviously – but also comparing both him and his son. 24. Yes guys, women bleed from 'down there' 5 days every month. It's really not an anomaly that they do TBH because if they didn't, they wouldn't be procreating, to begin with. Yeah, why do you think a woman gets her period in the first place? To determine the fact that she will be able to bear children someday. I really don't want to get into the biology of it, because you should leave that research to when you have spare time. © Twitter But what you do need to know are certain facts about a woman's period so you don't sound utterly stupid when you don't need to! If you have a girlfriend, a sister, a mother or women friends, this info will certainly come in handy. Why? Because women love guys who are sensitive and can understand what they're going through, in every sense of the word. Here are 5 important things every guy should know about a woman's period: (1) Yes, PMS Is Real Basically, whatever you've read and heard about PMS is true. Women get cranky, they get moody, they cry, they want to eat more chocolate and they're fighting bad cramps all day. Why? Because 'that time of the month' also brings along a batch of fresh hormones and hormones cause certain mood imbalances. And that's okay, right? PMS usually begins a few days or a week before the period starts. Sometimes, they begin a lot earlier and it's not an easy time for a woman. So, the next time you want to blame the fights you've been having with her while she is PMSing, think thrice. © Pinterest (2) No, Women Are Not Untouchables During Their Period Yup, this one's indeed an interesting myth. Back in the old days, if the girl of the house was on her period, she was treated differently for those 5 days. She was given separate utensils to eat in, she wasn't allowed to chill with the rest of the family, and she wasn't even allowed to enter the temple etc. Basically, she was treated like an outlaw and if you've heard these stories from your mothers and grandmothers it's time to change your perspective! A woman on her period is a blessing, not disgusting! © Pinterest (3) Yes, Chocolate Craving Is Real Again, no one has really figured out why, but women do crave chocolate when they're on their period. It's definitely something hormonal. So, if you bring her a chocolate with a hot water bottle, you're gold to her. © Pinterest (4) Yes, Period *** Is Okay While a lot of people, including women, may find this repulsive or unhygienic, it actually is the best *** you can have, both for women and men. Men, because there is natural lubrication and women, because it relieves period cramps and let's face it, women are hornier that time of the month, so it serves their purpose. As far as hygiene goes, that is something you need to figure on your own. Maybe put a used bed sheet underneath while doing it? © 20th Television (5) Yes, They Appreciate It If You Do Nice Things For Them The 5 days when she's bestowed with her period, are the toughest for her throughout the month. And she wishes for some support, if not all. So, what you can do is understand her mood swings, let her be cranky and make her feel like it's okay to cry or just PMS because sometimes, it's not in her hands. You can also help her out by buying her sanitary pads or tampons and making her some chamomile tea to ease her pain. © Thinkstock Women having her period is like men getting an early morning boner. It's the most natural phenomena ever. So, the next time you want to cringe at it, make a face or look away in disgust, maybe try and understand it better first?
