  1. What's up everyone? It's our girl Superwoman out there making India proud! Lilly Singh aka Superwoman has just become the first Indian-origin woman to host a Late Night talk show and basically the entire world is showing nothing but support for her. It's official. Ya girl is getting her own @nbc late night show... A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Thank you so much for being here. I am truly so grateful. â¤ï¸ Thank you @jimmyfallon @sethmeyers pic.twitter.com/h44HoPRtel — Lilly Singh (@IISuperwomanII) March 15, 2019 She started off her career online by posting YouTube videos on her channel ||Superwoman|| and quickly became a fan favourite on the website because of her hilarious and relatable content. Imagine going from making YouTube videos in your room to getting your own talk show down the line. Sounds like a dream, right? Does it make you want to go back in time and start a YouTube channel doing stupid things and posting it online? Coming back to her show 'A Little Late with Lilly Singh', she's taking over Carson Daly's 1:30 am slot on NBC and the show is expected to debut this year in December. This is not just important because she's Indian-Canadian, but also because she would be joining the few women hosts in a majorly male-dominated area. Moreover, she's also an openly bisexual woman, so it's like a trifecta of representation. Ever since the news broke online, all her fans and even celebrities have been showing excitement over this and are tweeting showing support. National jiju has spoken. YES! So awesome congrats! — Nick Jonas (@nickjonas) March 15, 2019 The shade was so good. Thanks bro in law! Appreciate you tweeting this while probably still celebrating your wedding haha! 2. Any sane person knows that sending unsolicited 'dick pics' is straight up sexual harassment, there's no doubt about that. Actually, every single person should know this now, especially after the MeToo movement, but I guess some people still haven't gotten the memo. Today, renowned journalist Barkha Dutt shared the screenshot of an unsolicited dick pic she received on Whatsapp. Yes, it was great for her to call out such creeps and it was the right thing to file a complaint and take official action. However, the problem that a lot of people are having with her tweet is that she seems to have politicised the rather sensitive subject of sexual harassment. Also, everyone's asking the same question right now- how do you tell someone's a nationalist by just looking at their dick? This is terrible @BDUTT. This man shd be caught and punished. Not sure how you could identify political ideology based on genitalia though? ð¤https://t.co/rfo7lw2pLr — Anuraag Saxena (@anuraag_saxena) February 18, 2019 We're all with her when it comes to calling out these horrible trolls. .@BDUTT is being viciously trolled. Someone has leaked her number and she's being barraged with horrendous obscenities and images. This is the absolute pits. What a low. Kudos to her strength and spirit — Jairaj Singh (@JairajSinghR) February 18, 2019 It's been a weird day. My TL right now. #Barkha pic.twitter.com/jQN7McqRbz — नà¥à¤¤à¤¾à¤à¥ सà¥à¤ªà¤ वारॠ(@KalluKallan) February 18, 2019 Questionable choice of words but okay. Ye sab bhejna galat hai lekin auzaar dekh kar vyakti ki nationalism kaise pata lagati ho aap 𤠗 Delhi se hoon BC (@delhichatter) February 18, 2019 Trolling-ception? There was a face recognition software but Barkha's phone have body parts recognition software which tell you weather the part from nationalist or anti-national. Brawo for inventing new software. @BDUTT — Angry Bird (@flyingvoyage) February 18, 2019 Everyone is confused. It's disgusting and action shud be taken on the person but where is nationalism here ? 𤠗 Amit A (@Amit_smiling) February 18, 2019 Umm. Where is the nationalilsm mentioned ð¡ð¡ð¡ð¡ — Aman Ranjan Bhumihar (@im_ak_ranjan) February 18, 2019 Yes, he definitely should. Throughout history, male genital has been used by sexual terrorists to show misplaced power and vile valour...esply to threaten & humiliate women. Sadly, some are doing so in our times, in India, on Twitter. Send the beast, who has done this to Barkha, to jail. @BDUTT 17/n — Sudheendra Kulkarni (@SudheenKulkarni) February 18, 2019 So @BDUTT can look at the private parts of a man & say what IDEOLOGY he follows? I think we should send all the "Terror-suspects" to her. She'll "check" & let us know if the person is guilty or not. ððð — Poornima Nayak (@FullmoonNayak) February 18, 2019 "Terrorism has no Religion but 'genitals" have political ideology" Barkha Dutt school of journalism!!! pic.twitter.com/jfhqrct4E5 — Seema Choudhary (@Seems3r) February 18, 2019 I stand for @BDUTT - without any hangups on our differences in politics. But also want to shame her for her cheap and deeply dangerous antics! https://t.co/en5AjqBSji pic.twitter.com/Z1N6FGR3ou — Shubhrastha (@Shubhrastha) February 18, 2019
  3. If you are a millennial, a regular Uber user, or just someone who spends more than eight hours on the internet, chances are, you've already heard about the recent craze around Uber Ratings. We know what you're thinking. Is this really happening? Is this some new sort of lifestyle benchmark? Is this here to stay? Well, duh. Up until now, you have been rating your drivers, but we bet you didn't know that the drivers are rating you too, and from what we hear, the higher your Uber rating, the better you are as a human being. Uber Ratings are definitely the next big trend in 2019 and it's taking our social media feed by storm. Don't believe us? Take a look at these hilarious posts that have created a bit of a buzz recently. Spoiler alert: How you treat your drivers might reflect on how your next date treats you. 1. No Rating, No Date Seems like this guy takes Uber Ratings quite seriously. His online dating profile legit says, “Swipe right if your Uber rating is 4.8+”. Meaning? You need to improve your rating, in order to get back to dating. 2. Want A Job? Get Yourself A 4.7+ Rating Yes, you saw that right! You may need an Uber rating of 4.75 or above to land a job! Time to update your CV, isn't it? 3. Uber Rating On Marriage Proposals! Yup, we were just as surprised. Uber ratings are now a requirement for getting married as well. If the perfect rishta doesn't get you to take Uber ratings seriously, we don't know what will. 4. When Your Crush Chooses A Partner Based On Uber Rating So, tell us- what kind of a person are you? Can your Uber rating attest to that? And don't worry, we're not all saints. We have quite a few people that we know and love who don't have the best rider ratings- but there are many ways to improve. Post your #UberRating and maybe you'll find answers- and if not answers, you'll find friends with the same troubles as yours! 4. It's no surprise Facebook has been losing its most lucrative bunch of users, the teens, lately. It has become a universal rule, every social network slowly starts seeing a decline in the number of active users over a period of time. This is because users are always looking for something different and get carried away with fads. Facebook killed Orkut and MySpace, and there was a time when we saw Snapchat taking over the reins. But, unlike the previous cases, Facebook has become a behemoth and acquired loads of interesting companies that'll ensure its survival. © Twitter Though, it hasn't given up on luring users back to the classic platform. How do you attract teens in 2019? Well, with memes. The social media giant is working on a whole new section called LOL that will apparently have bone-tickling memes and GIFs that can be used to share on the platform. A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the company is experimenting with the idea. It's supposed to be a simple piece of software featuring a feed of memes and GIFs categorized by topics like “dogs” and “pranks,” and Facebook is currently testing it with 100 high school users. Similarly, Facebook had also tested "Facebook Watch", the company's video-centric tab to take on competition from YouTube. © TechCrunch From TechCrunch's screen grabs, LOL's design and features draw comparisons to Snapchat's Discover feed. But Facebook has yet to decide whether LOL will exist as a standalone app, or as a feature within the existing app. The social network also owns the popular image sharing social network Instagram and instant messenger WhatsApp. These two combined give the company unprecedented backup options, but Facebook wants its users to be on Facebook. While teens have flocked new apps, Facebook is now often said to have been taken over by parents. © TechCrunch According to a study from the Pew Research Center, teens and young adults in the US are leaving Facebook for other social media sites like Instagram and Snapchat. The study reveals that only 51 per cent of teens aged between 13 and 17 use Facebook in the US. Every effort to lure the younger crowd has failed and with newer genres like TikTok coming in, the company faces even more challenges. Last year, thanks to the Cambridge Analytica scandal and repeated privacy flags have dented the social network's reputation. Source: TechCrunch
  5. No one's talking about the devastating floods in Kerala anymore, but that doesn't mean everything there has been fixed and restored, it just means that people have seemingly stopped taking an interest since it has become 'old news' now. But, the Khalsa Aid is always there to help, no matter what. We have already heard so many great things about this organization, that tirelessly and selflessly helps anyone in need, but they always surprise us even more. Tweeting about how the Khalsa Aid workers are still in Kerala helping in rehabilitation, they made sure to remind people that they would never simply walk away just a few days after a disaster. We are STILL in Kerala after the floods last year ! We don't walk away few days after the disaster... We remain committed. #Kerala #KeralaFloods pic.twitter.com/Ly5f45SNAV — Khalsa Aid (@Khalsa_Aid) January 3, 2019 Now that really is commitment! Talking to IndiaTimes, Amarjeet Singh from Khalsa Aid said, “Currently, we are helping people resurrect their broken lives and for that, we are rebuilding houses and other amenities in Alleppey district. Currently, a team of five members is looking after the rebuilding work and we want to ensure that people's lives get back to normal as soon as possible.” He added, “Currently, we have adopted two local schools completely devastated in the floods and we are on revamping the schools so that the children can get back to their studies as soon as possible.” Everyone is praising and applauding them, and rightly so. 6. When you have Beyonce perform at the pre-wedding ceremony, one can only wonder what the actual wedding will entail. Clearly, the whole of Bollywood was wondering the same thing when they attended the wedding, and boy did they 'dress'! Everyone put their best foot forward, but two gentlemen who stole everyone's thunder were Shah Rukh Khan and Suniel Shetty. Why, you ask? They brought back the incredibly underrated and most ignored item of Indian ethnic menswear - the good ol' Dhoti. Take a look! © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Both of them wore white dhotis and paired them with black achkans. While Suniel wore a classy, basic achkan with black buttons, SRK went ahead and wore one with golden buttons, replete with a rich maroon pocket square. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The dhoti is one of the most comfortable and regal looking outfits ever, but it's been a while we saw a celebrity embrace it in all its royal glory, before these two men here did it with the utmost class. 7. If you have grown up in an Indian household, then you know exactly what 'CID' means. The show was not just any TV serial we binge-watched while growing up (and still do), but something that was a part of all our lives. ACP Pradyuman and his iconic dialogue 'Daya darwaza todo' has been a part of lives for 21 years now. Sadly, as per latest reports, it turns out that the show is coming to an end this month and fans are clearly not happy. Dear @SonyTV please don't end CID. Warna hum darwaza tod denge!!#saveCID #CID — Amey Kulkarni (@Kulkarnium) October 23, 2018 Why you are thinking for closing CID .CID is only show that made sony famous , its only show reached #21years and no other show had reached mark as cid . CID is iconic show of India and also famous in many countries,so please dont close our show cid #Cid #saveCID @SonyTV @SonyLIV — sachin gaurav (@sachingaurav14) October 22, 2018 CID = FAMILY and we can't live without our family.. #saveCID — Agent101 (@crazy_agent101) October 22, 2018 Rumours have it that the channel will revive the show after a short break but some reports claim that the shoot has been put on hold indefinitely, so no confirmation has come yet. Truly a dark day for Indian Television :-( My favorite TV show CID has been cancelled after 21 years! Gone are the days of binge watching ACP Sahab, kuch tho gadbad hai & Daya thod do darwaza. #cid pic.twitter.com/RlEEKtXDTT — Ricky Kej (@rickykej) October 23, 2018 U can't end #Cid Without any reason it is not just a show it is our life #DontendCid #WeWontLetGoCID @SonyTV It is become aur family members plzzzs don't take aur family members like this you don't have any right for this.#saveCID — Kunal Bhansali (@KunalBhansali) October 23, 2018 The show has a gamut of emotions attached to it and social media is not taking the news well. The last episode will air on 27th October, and while we hope that the show is revived, until then we have the re-runs to fuel our CID cravings.
  8. Arguably one of the biggest names in Indian cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to garner praise for his brilliance on the field and gets criticised every time he fails to live up to the expectations of a billion fans. Such is India's obsession with the Jharkhand cricketer that no matter what he does - both on and off the field, it becomes a subject of public interest. A calm and cool campaigner who rarely allows his emotions to get the better of him, Dhoni is quite a private person in his life away from the playing field. While his teammates are often seen glued to their gadgets, Dhoni has often been accused of staying away from mobile phones. © BCCL In fact, there have been a lot of cricketers who've claimed in the past that it is hard to get in touch with Dhoni on the phone. Clearing the air for the very first time, the former Indian captain revealed: "Me and technology, there is a big divide. I don't use phones so much and there are lot of stories I don't pick up phones". "But I do use technology as well. When I am shown some videos, you wonder if I am playing it right. Technology has to be used in right way," the 37-year-old cricketer said. © BCCL Dhoni's reluctance to use technology was one of the main reasons why he was missing from VVS Laxman's retirement bash in 2012 which further raised questions on the rapport the two cricketers shared. "You think it's a controversy but people who know me always complained that I'm someone who is quite difficult to get hold of. That was one of the reasons why Laxmanbhai could not get hold of me," Dhoni claimed. "That's not something new. I have tried to improve but it seems I have not really improved," he added. Dhoni was part of the Indian side that defeated England 2-1 in the T20I series before suffering a loss in the ODIs. While his teammates are busy preparing for the second Test at Lord's, Dhoni will be seen in action during the 2018 Asia Cup which is slated to begin from 15th September in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
